Inflation? Only If You Look At Food, Water, Gas, Electricity And Everything Else

    Wheelbarrow-of-Money-300x236

Have you noticed that prices are going up rapidly?  If so, you are certainly not alone.  But Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen, the Obama administration and the mainstream media would have us believe that inflation is completely under control and exactly where it should be.  Perhaps if the highly manipulated numbers that they quote us were real, everything would be fine.  But of course the way that the inflation rate is calculated has been changed more than 20 times since the 1970s, and at this point it bears so little relation to reality that it is essentially meaningless.  Anyone that has to regularly pay for food, water, gas, electricity or anything else knows that inflation is too high.  In fact, if inflation was calculated the same way that it was back in 1980, the inflation rate would be close to 10 percent right now.

But you would never know that listening to Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen.  In the video posted below, you can listen to her telling the media that there is absolutely nothing to be concerned about…

And it is really hard to get too upset with Janet Yellen.

After all, she reminds many people of a sweet little grandmother.

But the reality of the matter is that she is simply not telling us the truth.  Everywhere we look, prices are aggressively moving higher.

Just the other day, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that the price index for meat, poultry, fish, and eggs has just soared to a new all-time high.

This is something that I have repeatedly warned would happen.  Just check out this article and this article.

And it isn’t just meat prices that are going up.  One of the largest coffee producers in the entire world just announced that it is going to be raising coffee prices by 9 percent

It took the Fed long enough but finally even it succumbed to the reality of surging food prices when, as we reported previously, it hiked cafeteria prices at ground zero: the cafeteria of the Chicago Fed, stating that “prices continue to rise between 3% and 33%.” So with input costs rising across the board not just for the Fed, but certainly for food manufacturers everywhere, it was only a matter of time before the latter also threw in the towel and followed in the Fed’s footsteps. Which is what happened earlier today when J.M. Smucker Co. said it raised the prices on most of its coffee products by an average of 9% to reflect higher green-coffee costs.

Not that coffee isn’t expensive enough already.  It absolutely stuns me that some people are willing to pay 3 dollars for a cup of coffee.

I still remember the days when you could get a cup of coffee for 25 cents.

Also, I can’t get over how expensive groceries are becoming these days.  Earlier this month I took my wife over to the grocery store to do some shopping.  We are really ramping up our food storage this summer, and so we grabbed as much stuff on sale as we could find.  When we got our cart to the register, I was expecting the bill to be large, but I didn’t expect it to be over 300 dollars.

And remember, this was just for a single shopping cart and we had consciously tried to grab things that were significantly reduced from regular price.

I almost felt like asking the cashier which organ I should donate to pay the bill.

Sadly, this is just the beginning.  Food prices are eventually going to go much, much higher than this.

Also, you should get ready to pay substantially more for water as well.

According to CNBC, one recent report warned that “your water bill will likely increase” in the coming months…

U.S. water utilities face a critical economic squeeze, according to a new report—and that will likely mean higher prices at the water tap for consumers.

A survey by water-engineering firm Black & Veatchof 368 water utility companies across the country shows that 66 percent of them are not generating enough revenue to cover their costs.

To make up for the financial shortfall, prices for water are heading upward, said Michael Orth, one of the co-authors of the report and senior vice president at Black & Veatch.

“People will have to pay more for water to make up the falling revenues,” he said. “And that’s likely to be more than the rate of inflation.”

Of even greater concern is what is happening to gas prices.

According to Bloomberg, the price of gasoline hasn’t been this high at this time of the year for six years…

Gasoline in the U.S. climbed this week, boosted by a surge in oil, and is expected to reach the highest level for this time of year since 2008.

The pump price averaged $3.686 a gallon yesterday, up 1.2 cents from a week earlier, data posted on the Energy Information Administration’s website late yesterday show. Oil, which accounts for two-thirds of the retail price of gasoline, gained $2.49 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange in the same period and $4.88 in the month ended yesterday.

The jump in crude, driven by concern that the crisis in Iraq will disrupt supplies, may boost pump prices by 10 cents a gallon at a time when they normally drop, according to forecasts including one from the EIA.

And the conflicts in Iraq, Ukraine and elsewhere could potentially send gas prices screaming far higher.

In fact, T. Boone Pickens recently told CNBC that if Baghdad falls to ISIS that the price of a barrel of oil could potentially hit $200.

Of course the big oil companies are not exactly complaining about this.  This week energy stocks are hitting record highs, and further escalation of the conflict in Iraq will probably send them even higher.

Meanwhile, a “bipartisan Senate proposal” (that means both Democrats and Republicans) would raise the gas tax by 12 cents a gallon over the next two years.

Our politicians have such good timing, don’t they?

    Ugh.

And our electricity rates are going up too.  The electricity price index just set a brand new record high and there are no signs of relief on the horizon…

The electricity price index and the average price for a kilowatthour (KWH) of electricity both hit records for May, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The average price for a KWH hit 13.6 cents during the month, up about 3.8 percent from 13.1 cents in May 2013.

The seasonally adjusted electricity price index rose from 201.431 in May 2013 to 208.655 in May 2014—an increase of about 3.6 percent.

If our paychecks were increasing at the same rate as inflation, perhaps most families would be able to weather all of this.

Unfortunately, that is not the case at all.

As I wrote about recently, median household income in the U.S. is now about 7 percent lower than it was in the year 2000 after adjusting for inflation.

And if realistic inflation numbers were used instead of the government-manipulated ones, it would look a lot worse than that.

Inflation is a hidden tax that all of us pay, and it is systematically eviscerating the middle class.

So what are prices like in your neck of the woods?

Is your family feeling the pain of inflation?

      1. Lies upon lies upon lies….

        • The Federal Reserve talks the talk,
but it’s the common person that has
to walk the walk. Same old, same old.

“Pensions throughout the western world are in peril due to the pension Ponzi scheme.

Powerful forces of both the inflation caused by 100 years of the Federal Reserve debasing the dollar and a possible deflationary crisis due to massive levels of debt globally will be a double whammy which will hit traditional investments such as stocks, property and bonds.”

            • It drives me bonkers to see how some cretin can go into the supermarket and tell me that something is still $X dollars and there is no inflation. Yet the same product has been reduced by 1/4 or more its previous size. This is what is called hidden inflation. People very seldom look at the unit or per ounce price. When people do see this they are shocked that canned good or something in a box is no longer 25 cents per ounce by 40 cents per ounce. Inflation all the same.

Another form of iflation without the price rising is changing the quality of what someone is purchasing. If you get chicken for $3.99 per pound and the price is the same, but the fat content is now up from 3% to 10% or 15% you have just been bit by the inflation bug that is one of the most deceptive that there is. It is called waste, or crap content in a product that says that you are getting less product you can actually use, but the price per ounce has nopt changed. I hate this world, we are flooded with lies, deception and more lies all the time. 🙁

              • BI, you are aware chicken is now injected to drive up weight. As part of the processing process they are injected through needles. Up to 15% increase in weight. Is the gooberment cognizant. yes. Inflation stats are not something for us, they are a measurement of what the government wants to measure… their credit leverage scheme. That’s why consumer costs are not included.

            • Are you saying that over the last 100 years, the charter for the Federal Reserve has run without interruption??

          • There’s an article right now at zero hedge, titled, “Russia Reignites the Proxy Wars: Putin Offers “complet Support” to Iraq Prime Minister Scorned by Obama.”

If, after reading this article, you don’t realize we are on the brink of WW3, then nothing will convince you, especially considered the Ukraine debacle.. the two things are tied together… its all about the oil and its a fight to the finish– the West versus the East.

            • I was wondering when Russia was going to stick its nose into Iraq. Pretty obvious they’d go there, what with all the fight they are ALSO spoiling for.

              • Smart thing for Russia is to defend Iraq and Afg. Take them over from the business perspective and start pumping that oil. Studies estimate Iraq could have as much oil as Saudi Arabia. Duh. What they should so is say something like “USA/Nato can run the country and police it. We’ll run this oil business right here and police it. Nice teamwork/stalemate.” Of course USA could do this also; but, we’ve had years and apparently little interest in increasing the oil supply. Duh, who’s making the decisions!

BTW, if we exit the group stage, the USA could very well play Russia in the knockout stage of the World Cup!

            • If Russia was “spoiling for a fight”, Washington DC would probably be a crater by now. Russia has tried tyo avoid war, while the HNIC has done everything he can to provoke it, not only in Russia, but Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, Iran, etc.

Russia is not just “playing nice”, there is nothing sympathetic about Russia towards the western bankster elites.

          • Well, if it is indeed the “common person” who has to walk the walk, perhaps it is time for “Everyman” to Talk the Talk AND Walk the Walk….time for “change” is NOW….begin by questioning your utility bills…ever notice that there is a charge for merely having the service? By that, I mean….if you are all electric, but have a gas meter you can be charged for the meter being there….Next, pay attention to ALL the extraneous charges on all bills your receive. When many stand up for what is right and just and refuse to support that which is unjust and just plain “sneaky”…. charges which have no merit….then we will begin to see a tiny amount of change….when more and more people wake up to see how they have been duped, then you will see more people ready and able for just “change”…..Stand up for Yourselves and you will be amazed at just how many other folks will STAND with you against tyranny….be it small or Large…information IS power and I say POWER to Citizens of this Republic….Let’s put OUR “hope and change” into gear…thoughtfully, legally, and without a doubt…way overdue….

        • This is all part of the master NWO Plan, Bankrupt the populace, make us buy Frankenstein GMO food on credit cards, and create shortages. When only about 6 major Corporations produce all the food on the store shelves that’s the problem, there is No competition. They make the laws FDA, to force the populations to only buy their products. Tax us, then Tax us some more. Just look at the 10 lines of taxes on your cellphone bill and your cable bill. It is all to fleece you and I. It’s the Game of Monopoly and they control the Banking printing of the money too. Its all set up for Population Failure. We are at the Tipping Point. Everyone needs to have at least ONE FULL YEAR of food now at today’s prices. Buy several Big bags of rice and beans, and 5 Gal Buckets with Gamo lids to store them. Prepare today or prepare to be fleeced tomorrow.

        • We have 3 gardens at our house. Will plant a 4 th garden in the fall. It took us several years but we got debt free. I ride my bicycle a lot and in great shape. This gave me confidence to cancel heath insurance about 3 years ago. I have savings so I need to go to the doctor; I can pay the bill. For my wife and kids I have health insurance; but have a very high deductible to keep the monthly insurance bill low. I have 2 kids and a wife and all of this really helps on the family budget. We still take a good amount of vacations and trips but try to go place we can drive to. Sometime we stay in a cabin and bring all the food and BBQ. Eating out is a killer on the family budget. We still eat out some but cook a lot.

        • The collapse is just around the corner. Prep like your life depends upon it.

        • Lies that idiots believe. Every time the Fed talks, my grocery bill at Shop Rite goes up. At my website, frontlineofdefense.com, I put hyper-inflation near the top of my list for the 10 Summer Predictions. Between Yellen, Iraq and the Obama Administration, the price of anything of value is going to skyrocket this summer. Gold and Silver have been looking good for awhile now.

      2. The government lies about all economic statistics. As the dollar gets weaker and weaker the truth will become impossible to hide.

        • That’s what the government wants. Fearmongering. The more they keep the sheeple in fear, the more control and power they have. In other words, inflation is fake. They call it a recession so big businesses can raise prices on everything cause they know the sheeple will fall for the feds lies. Its one thing for a country to go bankrupt if economic downfall is real. But if the whole thing is a lie??

          • Inflation isn’t fake. That’s why the government deliberately understates inflation.

One way is to not measure substitutions people make as products get more expensive. If you can’t afford steak so you switch to hamburger, that’s no longer measured as inflation.

They also adjust inflation downward because of new advances in technology. So smartphones got better and cheaper so they understated inflation for that reason. My favorite example is how they understated inflation because pictures in text books went from black & white to color.

          • Here comes the Big Food Squeeze. Sams club in my area no longer carries the 25 Lb bag of Black dried Beans. $20.99 They now force us to buy the way more expensive Canned processed Beans. This is whats happening more and more food product choices are disappearing off the shelves.

            • Don’t you have a farmer’s market? That’s where I buy my dried beans.

            • Yeah, but not hardly anybody like the little song– its all abut whats happening now!

              • that was an interesting song. I know what’s happening all too well. that is why my prepping is in overdrive now.

“In summary, finding the right seeds and storing them for the next season is a must in making long term preparations. Collecting only the best seeds that are without abnormalities and finding characteristics in the plant that are appealing will create a nice variety crop source.

If the best seeds and varieties are saved each season, the next year’s crop will be even more plentiful. And having a good seed collection is a great source of trading with other neighbors or locals.”

        • Your right on, but there are so few of us.

        • @ Barn Cat

the truth is ALREADY impossible to hide, for anyone who cares to look. Just look at unemployment: we keep hearing that it’s below 7 %; yet out of 200 million working age people, there are only 100 million actually working. That’s not 7% or anything like it! Inflation is exactly the same: they try to make prices “stay the same” by making the amounts smaller and smaller. THIS IS NOTHING MORE THAN PLAIN SIMPLE THEFT. All part of the greater war against the citizens of this country by cold, heartless monsters with no empathy for anyone who is not part of their special “insiders” group.

GOD, protect us from the wicked schemes of our evil enemies
may all their wickedness crumble and rot to dust, and come to nothing
may their villainies become ashes in their mouths
may they be cast down overthrown and destroyed now and forever more
so they may never EVER be able to hurt us ever again
and may we have peace in our time
          and victory in our day

Ideals Mastering Power Creating All Life GOD IS

      3. As the weeks and months and years have gone by, I’ve slowly been removing the system’s tentacles from my life one by one. Yes, prices are continually increasing for everything, and portions are ever-shrinking. Businesses which were considered institutions on main street America are closing down one by one. We will begin seeing more and more products disappearing from store shelves, discontinued. The system is breaking down. I am prepared mentally, and getting there physically. We have good agricultural land in a safe and secluded area, lots of tools and equipment, shit-tons of seeds, many valuable skills, and enough books on various subjects to restart civilization from scratch if necessary, and/or wage a modern high tech war against anyone who would attack us. Some of my family will definitely be shocked by the transition, but I’ve been living off the grid for a while now and went without power (or internet, or A/C, or phone, or…) at all for the past 9 months. It’s no big deal to me. I’d like to have as much time as possible to continue preparing, but as of right now I’m pretty much ready for this bitch to crash and burn.

        • “News in 2 minutes”- you can get potentially deadly viral diseases from canines– kill the dogs!

Also, Brazilians in process of overthrowing their corrupt government– will spread around the world.

I checked out nuclear power plants around the U.S. They are so numerous and spread out (especially east coast), it seems we are doomed. Former DHS woman said there is 100% certainty of grid failure in the near future (forgot all the details) but if the grid goes down for a long time, nuclear power plants will go into meltdown— end of our species!

There are just too many of these things located in US! Eventually, grid failure and nothing to keep these shit buildings cooled..like at Fukushima… then what?

          • What then is we are toast. Is what then.

I hear Mars is lovely this time of year.

Joking aside, are we ever going to do the old Von Neuman probe concept? If not why not. I like the idea of our species being intergalactic cockroaches.

          • Then What, Indeed…..hopefully, some with intelligence, skills, and moral fortitude, will survive somehow…along with a copy of the Constitution, The Bill of Rights…and, more importantly, a Bible….perhaps that this will not ever again occur….I know, wishful thinking, but “HOPE springs eternal…etc”….Alexander Pope has some more good quotes…and, for some interesting research, check out Archard Fortescue…Chief Canasatego…Jefferson and Franklin….very fascinating…

          • Brother, nuke plants have numerous redundant cooling systems and independent power sources. And did you ever notice they are all located by water? I’m absolutely sure they have the capabilities to be able to flood the reactors in the rare event that nothing else works. It’s not impossible, your worries are justified. But I don’t think it’ll happen man. Keep prepping!

      4. Smaller box with less product at higher cost.
Even people in denial are waking up to inflation.
And the people with EBT and WIC cards will really feel it when those cards don’t work anymore.

        Hungry people riot.
Continue to prepare for the worse, and good luck.

      5. So much is happening all at once, from the planned invasion on the southern border to the price of basic human staples, the Middle East is on fire and by summers end gas will be 5$ or more a gallon.

The amount of internal corruption and deliberate manipulation should be enough to shock even the most brain dead American, but it appears no one want’s to recognize the crimes being perpetrated right before their eyes.

I’ve said it before on this site that based on all the current events I see a false flag or some event around September/ October that will begin some form of a final push to martial law.

        • Y99
you got it they have been slowly setting this all up, and it appears it is close, the last real piece of the puzzle is what about all of us with guns, i would guess it has to be martial law and declare confiscation of all guns, what else does this all add up to?? it is the most logical answer!!

          • apache54

Whatever event awaits us will eventually cause someone or some group to rise-up, this of course is by design and needs to happen so they TPTB can cascade new restrictive gun laws. This will create more chaos followed by more events until we are disarmed.

The main thing people need to realize is that they TPTB don’t care how many die on either side of this concocted push for control / power, in fact they are counting on the chaos and death, and they know we are not Australia. (No offense down under.) People will fight, the MSM will sell it to the masses making it all about gun, when in truth it’s about freedom.

I believe that they have a 1 year plan to actively control a collapse, reduce the population and reboot America under full blown socialism. This has been predicted before during past times, but I contend that none of us have ever seen anything like what’s going on within our own country at this point and time, none of this is an accident it’s deliberate.

      6. Meat to go up 30% this year? Sheesh.
Well, chicken necks are on sale this week, though.

Time to put a big pot of feet on the stove to simmer a couple hours…mmmm…mmmm. Think I’ll save the necks for company.

When Mr. Yellen figures core inflation, he uses the Living Standard Deflator.

Your 10% lower standard of living offsets the 12% inflation…voila…2% target met. What a guy.

        • Yellen is a gal not a guy. While she is new as chairman she has been with the Federal Reserve for a number of years.

          • harp , are you sure of its gender ?
            look again at the photo.
I am quite sure that a transgender would get first dibs on a good government job in this environment.

I forgot the FED aint part of the government.
So i guess maybe Yellen really COULD be a “she” .

      7. Hey all, I never really respond to any of these articles, ever. But this one asked, what is it like in my neck of the woods? Let me tell you.

It’s in fucking shambles for the people who work really hard like myself. Where we work 40-60 hours just to keep up with the inflation that yes, it is eating up our paychecks, overall taxes on paychecks are around 20% & most of us have seen no raises in over a year. It’s stagflation at it’s finest.

BUT! If you’re one of the many people I know who bum off of the elite, you’re living it big! This is what really grinds my gears. Seeing people I know, who have been out of work for months to years, still collecting FREE money. These people have gone so far to get FOOD STAMPS. FREE ELECTRICITY. FREE WATER. FREE RENT. Etc Etc. And they bitch at me when I don’t have a dollar to spare.

“Oh but you still have a job! You’ve got money!”

YEAH. BUT I PUT ALL MY FUCKING TIME INTO IT AND HAVE VALUE TO SHOW FOR IT. YOU SIT ON YOUR FAT FUCKING ASS AND SMOKE WEED AND EATING STEAK, CONTRIBUTING JACK SHIT.

Sick of this socialistic shit. Let me get a free steak for once 🙁

        • @ Ze Bug. A whole lot of us feel the same way.

        • Same here Ze, if the EBT gets cut off for more than a day, I can see all my hard work get raided (garden, chickens and meat rabbits)and stolen. A whole street of healthy non working zombies!!!!

      8. Think things are expensive now? Wait till this fall for the ‘real sticker shock’. Depending on how much more adverse weather we have, it will greatly affect harvests which are typically late summer/early fall. Water and in particular, the *lack* of water is seriously affecting all of our lives whether we admit it or not.

The water shortage world-wide paints a very grim picture indeed- (also contributed Submitted by Michael Snyder of The Economic Collapse Blog)

25 Shocking Facts About The Earth’s Dwindling Water Resources

War, famine, mass extinctions and devastating plagues – all of these are coming unless some kind of miraculous solution is found to the world’s rapidly growing water crisis. By the year 2030, the global demand for water will exceed the global supply of water by an astounding 40 percent according to one very disturbing U.S. government report. As you read this article, lakes, rivers, streams and aquifers are steadily drying up all over the planet. The lack of global water could potentially be enough to bring about a worldwide economic collapse all by itself if nothing is done because no society can function without water. Just try to live a single day without using any water some time. You will quickly realize how difficult it is. Fresh water is the single most important natural resource on the planet, and we are very rapidly running out of it. The following are 25 shocking facts about the Earth’s dwindling water resources that everyone should know…

#1 Right now, 1.6 billion people live in areas of the world that are facing “absolute water scarcity”.

#2 Global water use has quadrupled over the past 100 years and continues to rise rapidly.

#3 One recent study found that a third of all global corn crops are facing “water stress”.

        #4 A child dies from a water-related disease every 15 seconds.

#5 By 2025, two-thirds of the population of Earth will “be living under water stressed conditions”.

#6 Due to a lack of water, Chinese food imports now require more land than the entire state of California.

#7 At this point, the amount of water that China imports is already greater than the amount of oil that the United States imports.

#8 Approximately 80 percent of the major rivers in China have become so polluted that they no longer support any aquatic life at all.

#9 The Great Lakes hold about 21 percent of the total supply of fresh water in the entire world, but Barack Obama is allowing water from those lakes “to be drained, bottled and shipped to China” at a frightening pace.

#10 It is being projected that India will essentially “run out of water” by the year 2050.

#11 It has been estimated that 75 percent of all surface water in India has been heavily contaminated by human or agricultural waste.

#12 In the Middle East, the flow of water in the Jordan River is down to only 2 percent of its historic rate.

#13 Due to a lack of water, Saudi Arabia has essentially given up on trying to grow wheat and will be 100 percent dependent on wheat imports by the year 2016.

#14 Of the 60 million people added to the major cities of the world every year, the vast majority of them live in deeply impoverished areas that have no sanitation facilities whatsoever.

#15 Nearly the entire southwestern United States is experiencing drought conditions as you read this article. It has been this way for most of the past several years.

#16 Thanks in part to the seemingly endless drought, the price index for meat, poultry, fish, and eggs in the U.S. just hit a new all-time high.

#17 As underground aquifers are relentlessly drained in California, some areas of the San Joaquin Valley are sinking by 11 inches a year.

#18 It is being projected that Lake Mead has a 50 percent chance of running dry by the year 2025.

#19 Most Americans don’t realize this, but the once mighty Colorado River has become so depleted that it no longer runs all the way to the ocean.

#20 According to the U.S. Geological Survey, “a volume equivalent to two-thirds of the water in Lake Erie” has been permanently drained from the Ogallala Aquifer since 1940, and it is currently being drained at a rate of approximately 800 gallons per minute.

#21 Once upon a time, the Ogallala Aquifer had an average depth of approximately 240 feet, but today the average depth is just 80 feet. In some areas of Texas, the water is already completely gone.

#22 Approximately 40 percent of all rivers and approximately 46 percent of all lakes in the United States have become so polluted that they are are no longer fit for human use.

#23 Because of the high cost and the inefficient use of energy, desalination is not considered to be a widely feasible solution to our water problems at this time…

The largest desalination plant in the Western Hemisphere is currently under construction in Carlsbad in San Diego County at great expense. The price tag: $1 billion.

Right now, San Diego is almost totally dependent on imported water from Sierra snowmelt and the Colorado River. When the desalination plant comes online in 2016, it will produce 50 million gallons per day, enough to offset just 7 percent of the county’s water usage. That’s a huge bill for not very much additional water.

#24 We have filled the North Pacific Ocean with 100 million tons of plastic, and this is starting to have a very serious affect on the marine food chain. Ultimately, this could mean a lot less food available from the Pacific Ocean for humans.

#25 One very shocking U.S. government report concluded that the global demand for water will exceed the global supply of water by 40 percent by the year 2030.

Sadly, most Americans are not going to take this report seriously because they can still turn on their taps and get as much fresh water as they want.

For generations, we have been able to take our seemingly endless supplies of fresh water completely for granted, but things have now changed.

We are heading into a horrendous water crisis unlike anything that the world has ever experienced before, and right now there do not seem to be any large scale solutions capable of addressing this crisis.

Hundreds of millions of people living in North Africa, the Middle East, India and parts of China already deal with severe water shortages as part of their daily lives.

But this is just the beginning.

If nothing is done, the lack of fresh water will eventually be deeply felt by nearly everyone on the entire planet.

        • Socrates, I read a few years back in a popular magazine that the wars in the future will be over water. Water will become the new “oil” or “gold”…. indeed!

        • socrates, do you realize how many hundreds of tons of water is needed for fracking and tar sands extraction? Please read about it… trucks as far as the eye can see just for one fracking site! And it pollutes the surrounding water so badly that when people turn on their taps, the water catches on fire. I have seen videos about this!!! We are destroying a livable planet! and mountain top removal to get very little coal (see west viginia- don blankenship)– which destroys the wildlife and waters for miles down stream… we are all dead meat!

      9. Can’t afford to live…can’t afford to die.

        • I couldn’t care less about what it costs to die—let ’em take me to court and see what they get.

      10. J. Yellen says it’s ALL under control…

        • Yea sureeeeeeeeeee

she is nothing but a front man

a puppet dancing as her strings are pulled

saying what she is told to say

      11. Inflation is worst than it is being reported.
What they are doing is feeding it to us a little at a time.
Like someone stealing from your bank account. Skimming pennies instead of dimes and quarters.

Then, sometime in the future, the bottom will fall out what is being hidden now, will be revealed.

Yes, I agree, gas prices could reach 5.00 per gallon soon.
Not only effects you and me, but cost of delivery of supplies to grocery stores and other places.

        • The obama-headed snake is quite poisonous. It has a yellow belly and a forked tongue. It can be found slithering around Chicago Gay Bath Houses.

      12. People whining that gas is up 1.2 cents since last week have no problem shelling out $225 for the new Nike XX9 Air Jordans.

      13. According to the feds; Inflation is down and Employment is up. Reminds me of the cartoon where the chart fell off the wall and was re-hung upside down.

      14. Yea, but just as long as those inside the beltway and the power elite on Wall Street get to enjoy all those steak dinners and banquets that’s all that matters … right? As George Carlen said -” It’s a big club and you ain’t in it!”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5dBZDSSky0

      15. The “REAL OWNERS” DONT WANT THINGS TO GET FIXED!

      16. Did Saddam Have WMDs After All: ISIS Overruns Iraq Chemical Weapons ‘Mega-Facility’

“With all eyes firmly focused on what really matters (the oil refineries), The Telegraph reports that ISIS has over-run a Saddam Hussein-era chemical weapons (CW) complex.

The al-Muhanna ‘mega-facility’, about 60 miles south of Baghdad, gives the jihadists access to disused stores of hundreds of tons of potentially deadly poisons including mustard gas and sarin.

The US state department is ‘concerned’ but “do not believe that the complex contains CW materials of military value.” However, as a former commander of Britain’s chemical weapons regiment warned, “we have seen that ISIS has used chemicals in explosions in Iraq before and has carried out experiments in Syria.” …

That article reminded me of this…
July 2008 – What About That 550 Metric Tons of Yellow Cake
“The last major remnant of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear program – a huge stockpile of concentrated natural uranium – reached a Canadian port Saturday to complete a secret U.S. operation that included a two-week airlift from Baghdad and a ship voyage crossing two oceans.

“The removal of 550 metric tons of “yellow cake” – the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment – was a significant step toward closing the books on Saddam’s nuclear legacy.

It also brought relief to U.S. and Iraqi authorities who had worried the cache would reach insurgents or smugglers crossing to Iran to aid its nuclear ambitions.”
        http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/3868

Note: The original 2008 AP article was printed in many US newspapers. In early 2009 this article was removed from US online archives.

        • “potentially deadly”

Whenever you see this in a news article, you can be sure it’s BS. Either the chemicals were deadly or they weren’t. If they were even close to deadly, THEY’D COME OUT AND SAY SO.

There is a DVD out with statements from a weapons inspector from the WMDs investigation. He said his team found some old, expired chemicals that at one time, decades ago, might have been lethal, but not anymore. Sounds like they are STILL trying to justify themselves for that WMD fraud, especially since they’d like to justify another round in Iraq.

Don’t believe it so easily. We are still talking about the Telegraph Media Group from UK, I.e. western-owned MSM.

          • My farts are “potentially deadly” if you get stuck in a car with the windows up…

      17. I don’t pay full price for meat any more. In the local Food Lion, when meat gets near the expiration date, the butcher starts marking it down, sometimes to less than half price. I buy it then to either cook now or freeze. A few weeks ago I got a flank steak and a smoked ham for way less than half price, even though they had just come in, because the seals had broken. I bought them, rewrapped them, and froze them.

More people in my area are starting gardens and getting chickens. Everybody has guns, even little old ladies. We quit using our heat pump last year. I cancelled my cell phone also.

      18. Here in North Florida gas prices went up 6 cents in a week. Sure wish it was only 1.2 cents. I am whining about the gas prices and every thing else and no Chrome I am not buying a pair of Nike XX9 Air Jordans. You have your facts all wrong. Most people that buy Air Jordans get their EBT cards, free phone, etc. so they don’t have to worry about eating and having new shoes.
Every time I think I can’t be shocked about anything else, I am. Our downtown area has almost closed down. Not very many stores left. The drug store that had held on for so many years finally sold out to the Big Boys. It is just sad to go downtown to see what is now a sign of the times.

      19. 20% JACK UP OF YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE NEXT YEAR THE MIDDLE CLASS IS BEING MURDERED!!!!

        • My homeowners policy bill just arrived. Up about 8% from last year. Up almost 40% in the five years since I bought the house.

          • they doubled my ins last year. luckily i was able to pay off the house and this year i told ins co to go screw themselves.

      20. confused about Iraq?

well this ain’t gonna help !

        • I read something to that effect earlier today. It figures.

      21. Living in the suburbs I really can’t garden in any meaningful way, but the other way to supplement your food supplies is by hunting.
Deer, wild hogs, turkeys, squirrels and all the other game animals provide very low-cost, non-GMO meat. I recently shot an average-sized hog which yielded 50 lbs of VERY lean sausage and about 10 lbs of tenderloin.

And of course there’s fishing too. Great meat at minimal cost.

        • I live in the city… I can hunt for cockroach and rat…

      22. HERE YOU ARE PEOPLE HERE HIS THE RIGHT VIDEO THAT SUMS IT ALL UP.

      23. We read this site because we believe a SHTF moment will occur. This report is just another signpost on the road to Shitsville. The signs are closer together and bigger than they used to be. Billboard sized signs announcing our imminent arrival to our new ‘home’ should be seen very soon. For those traveling this highway with us but who do not know where it is going will be pay dearly for their ignorance. Some fools in their McMansions and fancy leased cars are on the bullet train to Shitsville.

        Ain’t no conductor,
        ain’t no fare,
but they’ll get their tickets punched when they get there.

I’d rather slip in quietly, unannounced and prepared.

SHTFPLAN, keep posting the road signs.

        • @mac …we need to make this a sticky….top of comments on each story for the boneheads that are aSHEEP at the wheel. LOL

        • Burt G. Reminds me of the song, “The Long Black Train”

      24. The food prices here on the front range are getting ridiculous. $2 for a can of veggie soup at Chine-mart! 5.99/lb for bacon at a local spot. Saw gas prices go from $3.31 to 3.59 in a single week. Needless to say, my garden is growing, chickens are laying and hatching eggs, goats are pregnant and about to produce dairy products.

Now just need to get as far off the grid as we can. One step at a time. My steps have gotten faster these last 3 months!

        Cheers!

      25. Peanut butter sandwiches, anyone? I can no longer afford the jelly.

      26. If i could only afford sum grape jelly…….. Party in my mouth!!!!

        • I think I have about 50# of grape jelly in the basement. Right behind 30 jars of PB.

        • Yep, we herd.
          Everyone’s coming.

      27. In the 1970s the blame game regarding the cause of inflation was going on. Labor blamed business saying, “Your profits are too high” while business replied, “Your high wages are the problem”. The media fed the above arguments remaining moot at the real cause being an increasing fiat money supply.

In these times wages are suppressed and business profits are not the cause either. Faced with the obvious the path to deceiving the public is to remove the inputs of food and fuel in the consumer price index and deny that the inflation exists.

“You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time”.

      28. I always buy a quart of half and half for my coffee. It used to cost $1.88 at Walmart and $2 at the local supermarket. 5 days ago I went shopping and found the price went up to $2.08 in Walmart and up to $2.18 in the supermarket. I was just in the supermarket today and the price is now $2.79! That’s a jump of of almost 40% in the supermarket price. The government says inflation is less than 2%–they must think we’re stupid.

      29. I dunno man my Winchester little cigars went from 2.20 to 3.35 in the last week. Gas jumped up 10 cents is now 3.80. and a 20 round box of .223 is now 14.99 this week up from 9.99!
