How Many Guns Are Too Many?

After responding to a burglary call at a Rockford, Illinois home, police failed to apprehend the thief but found something that is perhaps much more interesting. WTVO reports that upon entering the home of an unnamed 67 year old resident they were surprised to find a weapons cache of over 300 weapons ranging from shotguns to rifles.

The homeowner, a registered firearm owner, was out of town at the time of the burglary. According to police, the weapons were taken for safekeeping. The guns will be cross-checked against police databases to ensure they have not been used for criminal activity.

While it’s probably a good idea to take the weapons for safekeeping, considering that the house was broken into and the homeowner was out of town, what’s equally as interesting is the reaction of the neighbors:

“It’s just un-real to see this many guns involved a regular residential neighborhood,” says concerned resident McArthur Tennin.

Coley Woods lives across the street from the home. He says, “I’m thinking it’s an accident or something, but I look over and I see them with all them rifles.”

Woods’ says, “Even if he’s a registered gun owner or not, that just seems like its too many rifles.”

This brings to the forefront the question of how many guns are too many?

Three hundred may seem like quite a large number to the average, non-gun collecting American. But the homeowner in this particular case is 67 years old, suggesting he may have been a collector of fine weaponry for several decades. Considering this, it is not out of the question for a retiree to amass a large gun collection.

Hopefully the homeowner will have his guns returned when he gets back to town, but he’ll most certainly have a lot of questions to answer at the local police station.

A recent Austin, Texas search warrant executed against a resident who had been involved in digging an under ground bunker yielded a variety of self defense armaments, including large amounts of ammunition and 19 weapons, as well as compressed gas tanks used for welding.

The neighbors in this case also responded with fear:

“It’s scary to know that he had all that down there. What if something had exploded,” Landon said.

Another example of police seizing weapons for “safe keeping” was recently reported in Anatomy of a Police State Setup and Coverup, where police arrived at the home of a San Luis Obispo, California resident who was legally target shooting on his land. After executing an illegal search warrant, police found a safe containing several weapons and subsequently seized those weapons for safe keeping. The justification for the search and seizure was that the homeowner negligently discharged his firearm, something he had done for years without issue.

It seems that anytime law enforcement enters a home, be it legally or illegally, and a weapons cache is found, anything more than perhaps a handgun and a rifle rings the alarm, resulting in a painstaking process for the gun owner if they ever want to retrieve the weapons.

Since the second amendment of the Constitution makes no specific reference the number of arms an individual can store for personal defense, there should be no question as to how many weapons one can personally own and keep at home. Has law enforcement and the citizenary come up with an imaginary and arbitrary number that’s safe for everyone? Perhaps one gun per household, or maybe a bit more leniency and we can make it one gun per resident of the home?

Where should we draw the line?

Maybe the best thing to do is to first determine if the individual in question has or had ill intentions with the weapons before we use the media to spread fear about extremist, right-wing pistol packers.

One thing’s for sure, however. Because of failures by our federal policing agencies to stop the flow of illegal aliens through our southern border, namely those related to drug smuggling and violence, ranchers in states like Texas and Arizona should probably be heavily armed, lest they end up either stabbed to death or have their land taken over by paramilitary drug organizations. If those living in violence prone areas ever need to call upon neighbors or local militia to assist with defending their land against would-be drug smugglers, kidnappers and thieves, it’s better that they be armed to the teeth with 300 shotguns and rifles than sling shots and BB guns.

      1. “The guns will be cross-checked against police databases to ensure they have not been used for criminal activity.”

tell me again how this is legal??

      2. to answer the title question..”How many are too many”..there isnt a number..there isnt a law..that would consitute infringement on the second amendment period..

read the second amendment..it says shall not be infinged upon..that sums it up for me, you can legally have as many legal guns you want..start stocking up.
wish this guy was my neighbor

      3. Hey Mac, the local farmers have got the best sweet corn I have had in a long time. Do you know how many ears I can have in my house at one time. I don’t want any trouble from the corn patrol.

      4. Woo Hoo! Linkage from Infowars! You lucky dawg… A gun owner can have as many weapons and as much ammunition as he likes. What part of “shall not be infringed” don’t they understand….

      5. What if this guy had been collecting rifles for years with plans of starting a gun business?

      6. Answer:  The one I can’t get to when I need it.  Never had that problem…

      7. This is more proof that in America people are considered by the State to be Guilty at all times. Even If proven innocent. The police and the courts ARE the law and they make it up as they go along.

In America everyone is the property of the State, and the State is what determines what is reasonable, the people just think they have a say, but they don’t.

Today, 300 appears to be too many according to them, the day after and the number might be five. That’s what happens when a country gives up the rule of law in exchange for the rule of men.

Bags of flour and sugar are more explosive and dangerous, yet we don’t ever see kitchens being searched and flour being confiscated, which suggests these types of takings are about propaganda to demonize anyone who wishes to defend themselves rather than rely on the police and their illusion of safety.

We lost The Cold War, comrades.

      8. Let’s put aside the law and morality for one moment.

Once someone has 2 guns, it shouldn’t matter to anyone how many a person has.  Logically speaking, it is physically impossible to use more than 2 guns at any one time (and even that would be a pretty mean feat – most of us mere mortals can only use 1 at a time with any degree of safety or accuracy).

Now let’s restore the law and morality – its nobody’s damned business how many guns someone else chooses to own, so long as they are acquired legally.  Guns are both inert and without any volition of their own, so why does it matter if I own 1, 3 or 300?  Morally speaking, I am one of those who could be handed a loaded full auto as I walked onto a commercial flight, and everyone on board would be assured that I’d do nothing more harmful than making some soft cooing sounds and the occasional grunt of satisfaction.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid and immature so many people are in our society.  Good thing for us that we’re not in a competitive part of the world, else we’d be occupied and performing slave labor for others.

      9. Comments…..  Soon enough one gun will be to many, give me a break… this is so stupid, Tomas J. is spinning in his grave…

p.s. 2nd amendment is to bare arms… in my opinion that includes the right to be able to carry a gun on you at all times. and also  the 9th and 10th amendments state that the states can not take the right to bare arms away… and that the federal government can not deny god given rights, and that includes protecting your self.

      10. The Second Amendment reads, “…the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

The dictionary defines infringed as, “to violate, transgress, encroach, weaken, or trespass.”

Perhaps the author of this article, Mac Slavo, would better serve his readership by first understanding that he is writing here about something that violates the Bill of Rights, namely potential gun restrictions — and then choose instead to write about something which supports our rights.

As Sigmund Freud wrote in his General Introduction to Psychoanalysis in 1952, “A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity.”

Government wants our dependency upon the police and law enforcement, to be passive and unarmed. It’s nobodies business how many guns you have, we have that “RIGHT.” If you are being a dumbass with them, then there is a problem that needs to be looked at.
But as far as how many? As many as you can afford as far as I’m concerned.
        Just remember;
When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.
I can only guess this means; you have to run for your life until somebody with a gun decides to show up and save you. Criminals aren’t violent and they “NEVER” carry guns.
        Politicians love unarmed peasants!!

      12. Prior to getting married my wife and I made an agreement: there is no such thing as too many guns and there is no such thing as too much jewlery…

Comrads indeed; my how Amerika has changed.

      13. My M4 has a M203 attached to it.  Does that count as 1 or 2?

What if somebody owned 300 hammers? It’s the same thing. Guns and hammers are tools. They can’t do “anything” by themselves. It’s down to the user. What am I going to have to register my Vaughan’s some day?  Geesszz……

I had better not let them know I have a Hilti DX350 and DX600 stud guns and a Ramset. My god, how could I ever use that many? And what about my Senco and Hatchi framers and finish guns. I must be a terrible human…

      16. how much you wanna make a bet ..some of the “prized” firearms will not be returned to the rightful and legal owner..and L.E. will say..oh..,, those must be the ones the theif took than, sorry.
yeah BS!..and how the heck did they get into his home to “remove” them? did they have a warrent to enter? No..if i was that home owner i would be pissed and ready to sue for unlawful entry, and removing his property, without due process..sounds to me like alot of rules were broken here, and this mans consitutional freedoms were trampled upon..it doesnt take a rocket surgeon to find out who lives there and to make contact with a neighbor or family member to secure the home..or even the home owner..doesnt our police forces have all the right equipment to track people down, no matter where they are?.. you know that  they do.. they just have to want to use it, and get off their dead asses

This is the mentality of “neighbors” who think that you should live a certain way, or disown certain items.
The gun owners biggest mistake was to not have them hidden out of sight.  I hope the gun owner gets all of his guns back, this story is a real shame.

      18. Those same neighbors will be happy when the man hands out the 300 rifles to the neighbors to protect the subdivision the day society breaks down and the inner city moochers invade.

When the end comes, the police won’t respond to calls –most of them will already be goners, the military will be too busy protecting federal and state property and food/transportation/energy superinfrastructure.

That leaves YOU, and your neighbors to protect your  subdivisions from the invading inner city mooch.

Then again, the collapse may occur and every inner city felon will be meek as a lamb, so loving, sharing and peaceful, no rape pillage and burning… and if you believe that…

Invading inner city mooch = a pack of rabid wolves.

      19. I’ve got several $20 bills in my wallet, does the police have the right to seize my money in order to check the serial numbers against the file of missing/stolen money?  Check the paper for drug residue?  Check to ensure my money wasn’t used in part of a crime?

What gives them the right to remove that man’s property?
        Not probable cause

      20. Guns don’t kill people, confiscation does.

      21. I gotta say the same thing……..  He should be able to have 300 more if he wants.  @Hammerun — What about your sledge???  Good lord man!     I only have 3 rifles, 2 shotguns and 4 handguns but what’s important is the 10,000 rounds of ammo I have.   My wife collects coats.  Is there a coat police cause I may call them.  My guess is that the gun police will have some messed up reason to keep some of them.  His cover is blown anyway……

      22. So sofar the cops stole his guns then..

      23. Mass murdering dictators agree. Gun contol works! Don’t let them take yours!

      24. We’re not really free anymore, but some states are better than others. Illinois is one of the worst along with Massachusetts and Kalifornia.

As others have said, it’s nobody’s business how many guns you have.

      25. The great state of Alaska is open carry with no license.  12 nm off the coast and you are free.

        @Bill;
I didn’t say a damd thing about my guns yet (not that I would) and the Thousands of rounds. I smelled this just as soon as this loopy goofy MFr got elected.
I sincerely hope I am wrong and I mean HOPE, but I don’t think that we are going to have the midterm elections. As wild and as audacious as this sitting administration is, I don’t think they would have any problem cooking up a National Emergency in order to circumvent the midterms. And BABY shit will hit the fan then!!! I think this will be anticipated on their parts accompanied with a contingent strategy, something like running hiding and waiting till all of the pieces hit the ground.
It’s pitiful, that there are some that just are “so in the clouds” and haven’t got a clue and are too ignorant to at very least somewhat prepare in some small way. Anything!
I keep getting this image of a little anti-gun geek franticly pounding 911 in a dark closet  as some armed gangbanger is kicking down his front doors and eyeing his wife and food…  fertilizer…

      27. And if these 300 guns had ended up in the hands of the bad guys?  What then?  I’d support a law that says if you have more than 3 guns you must keep #4 and the rest in a gun safe.  That’s not the perfect solution but it’s a happy medium.  And please don’t tell me you can’t protect your home with 3 guns that you can get to quickly if necessary.

      28. Comments…..
Here in California when you buy a gun you have to ether buy a trigger lock or show you own an approved gun safe.  What is the point? If a guy is coming thru the door are you going to hit the pause button until you can get it unlocked or out of the safe? The entire idea of a defensive weapon is to have it available in the time of emergency. And generally an emergency is a surprise. Hellooooo , Am I right here?

      29. This is why we need to take at least one Rifle , one hand gun . one shotgun and ammo then HIDE them .  I use a plastic tube caped at both ends , sealed with waterproof adhesive  AND BURIED near by. Make sure your guns have a light coat of oil and are clean , Also if possible put them in food saver bags and vacuum out the air .  Same with the ammo . Bury then straight up and down not on the side , It makes a smaller signature for a metal detector to find.   GOOD LUCK

      30. “A Texan” made a good point – it’s not like one dude can use 300 guns at the same time anyway.

Environmentalists tried the same thing against The Governator, mocking him for owning several Hummers.  It’s not like he drive them all at once (not that I would own one).

Besides, there is nothing remotely dangerous about storing any number of guns, by themselves, in a home.  By itself, a gun is nothing more than than a piece of steel, aluminum, wood, and/or plastic.

Storing gasoline and/or explosive material – that could be a different story.

        Ammunition?  Watch these:

        …the casings are more dangerous…not lethal…in a fire.

      31. I have lots and lots of guns too – nearly $100,000 worth – but that’s MY business…not yours! If, God forbid, some low-level knucklehead comes onto my property and begins behaving in a threatening manor I’ll have the means to protect myself and my family…and I will shoot that individual dead, if HE gives me reason to do so.  One thing I will not do is use my guns to protect my liberal neighbors…if they find themselves, unarmed,  in a bad situation with a drug-crazed madman bradishing a 3′ machete that’s too bad; foolish people die all the time!

I carry a concealed weapon with me wherever I go…ya never know when something crazy might go down!

      32. 911 is what you dial after your raped.  1911 is what you should have before they try.  The geek in the closet will be dead before they get there, his wife raped, then killed before they get there.  His last thoughts will be “oh my God, I’m going to miss Dancing with the Stars tonight”.

      33. I agree with meat eater. If a guy has 300 weapons, they should be in gun safes. And maybe they were …….. it probably wasn’t a random burgulary, either. Lets wait for the details to emerge on this one before passing judgement.

      34. How would “they” go about enforcing that new law that you would vote for?

      35. Meat Eater::

The guns did end up in the hands of the bad guys, and they still have them.  But don’t worry, they won’t use them against you.  They have way better things they can use against you.

One more thing.  If they are not in the police database already, they certainly will be now.  It may be time to move and start a new collection.  Especially with such idiots for neighbors.

      36. Comments….. But what if he just snaps & starts to shoot up the community? As responsible American’s, living in a “civilized” society, we must take ALL guns off the streets! I don’t like guns, I don’t own guns, so there for, no one else should either. Gosh, it just gives me the creeps to think of one of my neighbors having this many guns! (Sarcasm off)

        • What if he snapped, got in his car and started to run over people. Then what would you say “outlaw cars”. You are an ignorant fool that knows nothing about firearms. Safety is key with anything. In the end you and your family are going to be screwed if you have to survive with out modern convinces. Good luck and do not come pleading to me when the police do not show up.

      37. The San Loius Obispo safe keeping was completely recorded and proved that the Sherriff was lying and made up things aftert he fact on the video. I have no idea if the man has his firearms returned but, the Sherriff dept in any community can not be depended on to obey the law or be honest in their dealings. Many law enforcement officers are plain out and out liars and dishonest.
         Death to Tyrants

      38. I wonder how many of the internet tough guys on this blog have actually used a firearm to kill someone.  How many of the tough guys on this blog have had to live with killing another human being and then wonder WTF?  Too many of the people who talk the bravest just don’t understand that if the SHTF and the time comes to start spilling blood it won’t be anything like the way you romanticize pulling the trigger will be.  You’ll probably end up dead because anyone shooting to protect something will draw a hell of a crowd and they won’t mess with having a shootout with you; they’ll just set your place on fire and plug you when you try to make a run for it.  Having several thousand rounds of ammo won’t do you a damn bit of good.  You’ll never get to use all of them.  I did two combat tours in Vietnam when I was in the Marines Corps.  Believe me; killing is easy to talk about until you have to do it.  I’ll do it again if I ever have to but I know from experience that it leaves a cold, metallic taste in your mouth and looking at dead men, women and children is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

      40. @ Meat Eater        Welcome Home

      41. And you want more gun laws?  Your funny……and simple.  Make sure you save one round.

      42. Comments….. Meat Eater, I think you under estimate what people will do when push comes to shove.  I certainly could kill someone coming into my home, an intruder uninvited. This lady did just that:

      43. Seized and tested for previous criminal activity? pfft I guess seizer is now been left off the the unwarranted search and “seizer” amendment. I’d just give the coppers a call and tell them I’m home, you’ve got 24 hours to return my property. Day 2, I’d file a 25 million dollar lawsuit…hit ’em where it hurts.

      44. As to the question “How Many”.  It should not matter.  A rich person having 10 expensive collection of cars too much?  I don’t think so.  What about books?  Is there going to be a number of books allowed in the home?  Or ya, one more!  What is the number of “KNIVES” that is allowed?  This is a “police agency” takeover of our “rights”.  And as far as the neighbor attitude goes, ” MIND YOUR OWN BUISNESS”….

      45. I have way more guns than I need, but not nearly as many as I want.  My gun I pack, is Glock  40cal. model 27 compact.  drt rounds. (drt = dead right there)

I have the CCP for Missouri, and I will never pull my gun, without fully intending  to use it.   I will not shoot to wound.

Lord willing, I will never have to use my gun against another human being…just saying

      46. Unfortunately, including the cheater phrase of “as long as the guns are legal” contradicts any moralizing about violating the Second Amendment, because it has already happened.  Now it’s just the matter of degree of egregious violation we can be conditioned to accept– “just a permit”, “only civilian-grade weapons”, “not too large of a caliber nor too much clip capacity” ad infinitum.   Just like how folks who quote from the Constitution are now considered potentially dangerous, multiple gun owners are likewise being carefully demonized by the press and LEO.  Armed, informed  citizens will always be a threat to tyranny, which is why they have worked to make it increasingly hard to be either in this country.  “Everything for the State, and nothing against it.”

      47. I need some advice.  I’m married with 2 kids and a husband who doesn’t believe the economy is in danger.  He controlls the money as much as he can, has the bills in his name, and would absolutely hit the roof if I mentioned buying a gun.  I would like to get a hand gun, possibly a glock, and put it some place he can’t find it.  I’m aftraid if I wait too long the government will clamp down and we won’t be able to purchase a weapon when he finally sees the light.  I live in California (about 20 miles east of Oakland) where I have a driver’s license, but also need proof of residency like an electric or trash bill, which I don’t have.  My husband pays all of our bills online and would know something is up if I suddenly wanted to transfer one to my name.  If he found out I was buying a gun he would divorce me and try to take the kids.  I’m not exaggerating.  He already thinks I’m crazy when it comes to the economic collapse and my efforts at storing food and buying gold.  It might be easier to buy a rifle here, but I think a hand gun is more practical.  Any ideas?

      48. OK so the powers that be want your guns..eventually they may win … how about if I build a good old fashoned cannon in my garage..nothing special big brass thing with wagon wheels on it..say a 4 inch bore..I could then buy or make some gunpowder and load the thing with nails or BBs or broken glass..If I just park it in my driveway, what law am I breaking? I only have ONE gun…and its not an automatic weapon..If I make the length say 100 inches, by definition it will only be a 25 cal gun..not too frightful for the powers that be.. If they limit the number of guns you can have, make each shot count..one shot with that should take out a couple dozen scum and the shock value would make any survivors reconsider their target..
Realisticly though, I like the idea of putting guns in plastic tubes and burying them…you can also make it work better by putting a little “damp-rid” in the tube before you seal it…. next, go to a junk store and buy some nails, old forks and spoons, throw some tin cans in the dirt too and make hundreds of targets for metal detectors..after the first few dozen nails, cans and spoons they dig up it is likely they will give up the search..lazy can be used to your benefit too.. Better yet, why bury such things on your own land..there is lots of locations that are remote, not traced to you and safe and private where you could leave your toys..
One other thought…guns are at least in theory protected by the constitution…however, bullets are not..plan ahead, the most angry gang becomes far less of a threat after they have sprayed all their ammo everywhere drive by style…and cannot get more..
You save your rounds and make each one count..one shot, one kill…it is better for the environment too, less lead everywhere and it costs less.. Remember the only gun control that matters is if you put your ammo where you are aiming..thats the gun control I beleve in..

      49. Dear Despondent: If you manage to buy a gun without your husband’s consent, and then hide it so he can’t find it, your kids probably will. Not a good idea to have a weapon in the house of which your spouse and children are not fully aware and operationally capable.

Some level of prepping is just plain old common sense. If you are twenty miles east of Oakland, that puts you within striking distance of the San Andreus fault and the Hayward fault, among others.

If he would really want to divorce you and take the kids because you want a hand gun, it sounds like the problem between you and your husband is deeper than a difference of perception or opinion. The two of you need  counseling to reconcile your differences.

Remember, hand guns and divorce do not mix well. Do not email us for bail. Everyone on here is unemployed except me and Mac. Just saying ……. 🙂

      50. my brother-in-law collects postcards…(lol)….wait…..
from a particular period in pre-Soviet Union.   Well, over the years … we’ve stopped laughing about it, as the value for them has gone way up!  I’d be willing to say that certain guns/authentic weaponry might have done the same thing for their collectors.  Obviously, we are talking about something else afoot with guns vs. postcards.  Yet, they are both collectibles.

I like the idea of encouraging gun ownership for everyone, with carry permits and training required….. incentivized by tax credits to offset the expense.  In my opinion, this practice would provide assistance in holding down crime statistics in our cities.

I served a tour in Viet Nam.  To think that in my ‘golden years’ that I would have to sleep next to a weapon every night again is an awful prospect.  Sure hope we don’t have to face such conditions in our country…. it might be forced on us….. if so, we need to recall all those who went before us here, that fought to make things secure for future generations.  I believe we will accept it all as our duty……. may it never happen.

      51. Burglary Call – Interesting way to circumvent the Fourth Amendment. It would be interesting to know which person made the “oath or affirmation”.

I guess some cousin of some cop will be able to buy a bunch of used firearms soon at a bargain price.

      52. I don’t hear enough outrage about the fact that the police were cataloging his guns and checking the numbers to see if any were used in crimes. WHAT probable cause exists for this? They removed them for “safe keeping”…Bullshit, they took them and are going to try like hell to find a reason not to give them back. They overstepped and need to reigned in before it is too late. They ignored this guys constitutional rights and cannot keep letting our LAW officers do this kind of thing.

      53. The Federal nor state constitutions grant anyone any rights. Your rights came from your Maker. You have a self-evident inherit right to life. Thus, your right to defend and preserve that life is also self-evident.

Our constitutions are bodies of law designed to govern the government, not “We the People.” We only come in when those institutions step outside of that body of law. See the Declaration of Independence for the resolution.

The number of acceptable tools a man may possess in order to secure his Creator endowed right to life, his property, his family, and the “Security of the Free State,” are limited only by his ability to store them.

Locks only serve to keep an honest man out, obviously. So, all the possible arguments one might come up in order to attack one man’s possession of firearms, are also attacks against everyone’s right to life, right to self-defense, and against the “Security of the Free State.”

In order to destroy the Free State, one must first remove its Security. That’s all it comes down too, tyrants and the fools who unwittingly serve them.

Every piece of anti-gun legislation are merely stepping stones towards preventing the “Security of the Free State.” Licensing is also part of that stepping stone.

I submit, most people on the road possess a drivers license, which is a permit, or permission to drive. They had to qualify to obtain this permission. Have you been driving lately? If licensing works, there shouldn’t be a bad driver on the road. The same principle applies to all professions, all degrees of education, and most assuredly gun control.

Tyranny is all it has ever been about! Wake up!

      54. And why didn’t they confiscate his TV”s and computers to see if they were stolen or used in a crime? Where is the limit? What about his kitchen knives? Or any nail guns too? Or his furniture, they might be stolen property. Do you have proof your furniture isn’t a stolen good? Should Americans have to prove everything they own isn’t a stolen good, or has been used to commit a crime?

        What about his cars?

Should there be a limit to the number of cars a person has?

Should all but two cars be locked in a garage where someone cannot steal them and use them to hurt people?

If you replace the word gun with the word car,  how does that change things? An unlicensed driver may take the car (locked or not) and cause destruction, same as with a gun.

Where are the cries by these people to outlaw and ban cars? They don’t cry this out because they know to do so is ridiculous! Might as well outlaw and ban trees because they can be made into sharp sticks that can hurt people.

What they cry out for is slavery.

1776 would’ve never happened if these people were in charge back then. The neighbors make me sick, those are the types of people the Founding Fathers hoped we would never remember.

        Something is very wrong.
Are freedom and liberty dirty words today?

Because an attack on the U.S.A. by its enemies is seen as an impossibility today by many people, they fail to consider that the confiscation of weapons of a law abiding person is really a threat to national security and an act of treason against the people of this land who wish to be free.

As it is now, it seems we’ve all been made into slaves, some more free than others, but all of us are slaves.

      55. Despondent,
Sounds like you’ve got a real problem.   My ex-husband #2 is a control freak and abusive too.  I suspect your husband is also.  The best thing you can do is take your children and leave him.  File for divorce, get as much money as you can out of him, and do what you know must be done for your children.  He will not take care of them or you.   Its up to you.  One other thing, did he vote for Hope-N-Change?

      56. How many mechanics tools are too many (tire irons ,lead pipes) or carpentry tools ( saws, axes, ect.) or butcher knives  the old Italian chef owns down the street He’s got quit a collection of those things?( Hope he’s not a serial killer or a jack the ripper type.) Or how about the Oriental chef that has a quit a collection of cleaver from being in the business so long?

      57. Sometimes another question must be asked to answer the first…

How many guns are too many? Well, how many guns are needed to protect yourself and your neighbors?

With all these “wars” our country is involved in out military forces are spread thin. It is up the the citizenship to provide that protection, be it a foreign threat or a domestic one.

Here’s a little homework for you all, look up the cities and or countries with the lowest crime rate and the highest crime rate… then compare it to the cities and or countries with the least amount of firearm possession and the most amount.

      58. Reguardless of how many guns you have, keep them in a safe place because they WILL get stolen.

      59. Obviously, some ignorant paranoid coward squealed to the cops about his legal gun collection.
The only burglars here are the cops who unlawfully broke into this poor man’s home and stole his collection and primary means of self-defense.

      60. Comments…..”Collector” or investor?    Why don’t these idiots recognize guns as an investment?   Guns don’t depreciate unless abused or neglected.    They appreciate and quite well.     I know of some very valuable collections that are really investments.

      61. Note that the suspect was not apprehended.  I wonder if the burglary was staged to give police an excuse to enter the dwelling without a warrant.  The police probably had a reason to suspect there were weapons inside and it was too much trouble to get a warrant.  Stage a break in and there you go.

      62. Historically worldwide, tyrannical governments have always followed the same path to murdering their citizens: first they have gun registration, then they have gun confiscation, then they have annialiation.

But don’t believe me. Here’s one date source of many: The Genocide Chart from Jews for Preservation of Firearm Ownership at http://www.jpfo.org/filegen-a-m/deathgc.htm Add up the total and you get how many murdered bu their governments?  Conservatively 80 million or so.

Americans have had it way too easy for way too long.  The Sheeple have no clue what is going on right now. They think that such a thing could never happen in America.  Oh yeah. Right.

And Hitler was Time Magazine’s Man of the Year in 1938.

      63. It’s a simple fact that the police are out of control.  There is no basis in Law, the Constitution, Ethical, Moral or Common Sense, that would give the police the right to seize those weapons.  It is the government and police getting you ready for this to happen on a wider scale.  Did you hear about this 10, 20, or 30 years ago?  I never did.

As long as we accept that this is standard operating procedure, then most Americans will go along with whatever the police tell them to do.

      64. As far as I’m concerned the United States Constitution is nothing but a quaint relic now. The time to have stopped this nonsense was long ago and now they’re going for broke.

I used to consider myself a “progressive”, more liberal than conservative, and thought that guns should be outlawed. That was, until I woke up and realized how our once-great nation is slowly but surely being transformed into a police state. I am liberated by the notion that I now understand in its entirety the Constitution and how it came about, that everything in there was put in there for a reason.

That being said, I agree that you should be able to own as many weapons as you can store. The fact that no one squawks at how many cars, which by the way kill more people annually than guns do, or ATVs or snowmobiles or whatever someone can own is testament to the sheer absurdity and hypocricy of our fellow neighbors’ understanding of security and rights.

My belief is that they are setting the stage for eventual confiscation of all registered weapons, probably when Martial Law is declared or at least imminent. The problem with this is that only the law-abiding citizens will turn them in while the criminals, bandits, and roving gangs will hold on to theirs, leaving you completely defenseless.

And to Meat Eater, who does have a good point, I ask isn’t one weapon better than nothing? Should we just all roll over and wait to be killed in the end? I know I would rather go down fighting even if I know it’s hopeless than to submit myself to being shot, raped, set on fire, or harmed/maimed in some other form for complying or surrendering. True, very few people know what it’s like to actually kill someone, and I pray I never have to. But if the time does indeed come to do that, I will pray I have the courage to do it if it keeps my family and myself alive for yet another day.

To Despondent, sounds like you are in a tough spot. Like other posters have said it seems the larger issue is not you being able to secure and hide a gun, but is your husband himself. How will he react if the SHTF and you pull out your hidden gun and blow the intruder away? Ask yourself, is he still likely to get mad at you and leave even after you’ve saved his life? We can’t know how people will react in these situations until we’re there, but I hope you understand that even should you get your firearm you may still have the same problem on your hands. Luckily for me my wife is on my side, but it wasn’t instantaneous. I was called a doomer for quiet a while, until 2008 happened and she started to see a kernel of truth in what I was saying. It’s not easy to reprogram human beings who don’t want to let go of an entire life of government brainwashing. Best of luck to you.

From reading this article it is all but evident to me that when the SHTF they (law enforcement) will at least make some attempt to confiscate our weapons. One need only look at Katrina for an example. In that case, I recommend the following:

        1. Purchase one gun legally with valid registration, and keep it by the ready to hand in when the thugs come. This doesn’t have to be anything special as you’ll be “trading” it in and likely will never get it back.

        2. Purchase/acquire other weapons, in whatever form possible (un-registered) and hide from plain sight. The degree of obfuscation is up to the individual.

This way, when you turn in your legally purchased firearm, the thugs will think you’ve “done your duty” and leave you alone, while you still have your secret off-the-record stash somewhere else. My fear is if you don’t have at least one registered gun then they may suspect you anyway (maybe you’re a dissident or oath-keeper or some other Constitutional nut). Particularly if you take target practice, which everyone should before law and order breaks down, then the neighbors will hear the shots and turn you in when the government passes the “Rat Out Your Neighbor” Executive Order. So they’ll KNOW you have something.

That’s my thinking. Critique if you’d like.

      65. All things are God’s, even guns.  He just let’s us use them on this side.

      66. Check out the Doctrine of the Three Percenters on the sidebar at http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/ if you have not read of them already.

Encourage all former and active law enforcement and military to join Oath Keepers at http://oathkeepers.org/oath/ .

Consider getting one or more edged weapons, like machetes and swords.  Also, slingshots make excellent low cost and damaging weapons.  So do crossbows. If or when our government forcibly disarms us, these weapons will probably not be confiscated.

      67. Comments….. To Despondent:  20 miles east of Oakland, puts you within striking distance of Richmond, San Pablo, Pittsburg, and Antioch.  The places where we fled from 15+ years ago.  I can’t help you with your situation with your husband, but buying a gun and hiding it from him IMHO is not a good idea.  Unless you are both on board with it, then forget about it.  Why women allow their men to control them such as you have described, has placed you fully dependent on him. Some men like to control women that way.  I don’t know if you work out side of the home, but that might not be such a bad idea.  BTW, if he hasn’t seen the light yet then it’s too late anyways.  Good luck.

      71. Chris C. your advice to Despondent is terribly ill advised. With children in the house, there is no way to hide anything. If they are not aware of the weapon and educated about it, the danger to which they are exposed could be fatal. That happens all the time and the results are heartbreaking. You are an idiot.

Not only that, but you have advised her to break faith with her husband by making this decision on her own. A decision she claims would cause a divorce.  Chris, you are an idiot.

Further, say Despondent buys a weapon without her husbands knowledge, hides it in the house, and he finds it. Lets say he doesn’t blow his stack, he just throws it away ….. without her knowledge. The list of scenarios now begins to multiply. None of them good.

They have a communication problem and perhaps others that need airing. A certified counselor or pastor would be a good first step in resolving this impasse, and she should talk to a few by herself before “enrolling” him. Some of these advisors might be as stupid as you.

Finally, I am sick and tired of hearing whiners and defeatists like your self just giving up in the face of a little adversity. The “Silent Majority” is awake and no longer silent. The Constitution is our heritage and we are not going to roll over and let the PTB steam roll US. A new day has dawned. A new burst of freedom is coming to America, and those who are not part of the solution are part of the problem and had better just get the hell out of the way!

      72. Comments…..this is an apples and oranges argument…..
guns are useless without gun powder.. a person with a million guns in not a threat to his neighbors,,, but a man with a ton of gunpowder is.  and this is what needs to be regulated, not guns

      73. Durango Kidd, you must have me mistaken for someone else. I never gave Despondent advice.

      74. so people are now presumed guilty, or why would they check his weapons?

      75. I am so very encouraged by what I see here! May God bless you all, my sisters and brothers in arms! I wish all of you were my neighbors!

I’m lucky. My dad’s hobby was guns. He’s almost 86 while still in his right mind, he keeps asking me to take them. I have loaded guns setting all around the house & I have children. Not only do they know how to be safe, they know how to use them. I never, ever worry about them. Raised from birth around shooting and guns, when I am gone, they’ll be there in my place. As I write this, I son is making sure his break action single shot 22LR is sighted in. He’s quite a marksman and can sight in any weapon. At 12 years old, I’d hand him anything with a trigger to cover my butt, though, hes a little skittish with recoil and blast sometimes.

Both daughters have shot some and know the basics. My wife is also fairly good. Though, uninterested, she realizes the potential need and supports my “investments”.

Speaking of that, I have stopped buying gold and silver. The last $500 went to guns. Nothing classic, just functional stuff. 30-30s, 9MMs, etc. is all I’m looking for. Thanks be to God that I live in a state where registration is absolutely nullified. People buy, sell and trade guns like people buy sell and trade baseball cards.

…which brings to mind: 37 states allow private, undocumented sales. How does gun confiscation work again? Paperwork? HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA! ROTFLMFAO!!!! Good Friggin’ Luck! Many people don’t realize this. Any attempt at gun confiscation and the blood will run at full storm sewer capacity in the streets and ditches of this country. Instictively, people know: The government cannot take away a right given to you by Nature’s God! If they try, they will die.

      76. Chris C. August 14th, 9:48 am     Sure sounds to me like you directed your advice to her, as you directly cited her and made recommendations assuming that she was already in possession of a weapon, and scenarios with her husband, etc Then you continued on with your post with the theme of hiding weapons.

Hiding weapons are a very bad idea. Lying about weapons to your spouse is a very bad idea. Encouraging one spouse to break faith with another is a very bad idea.

If that was not your intent ok, you’re of the hook. My bad. Hopefully she will get the right message, pursue the issue correctly, and not endanger anyone , especially her kids, in the process.

      77. Despondent,

I highly recommend you don’t buy a pistol. One of your biggest responsibilities is to educate your children, if not how to use it, but what a gun REALLY is and what damage it can do. Nobody needs to “teach” safety. Safety come with intimate knowledge of what something can do. You have to teach your children what that gun will do and what makes it do it. If you don’t, two things will happen: They will become curious and, lacking knowledge of the function of the gun, they then become dangerous. Yes, it is the children or the individual that is dangerous, not the gun.

In your situation you cannot do this. If a mother and father do not agree on the way to teach a child and on or the other attempts to teach a way, the child becomes fragmented. No, do not buy a gun. A couple machetes and a couple aluminum baseball bats are a better choice for you.

        Everyone,

Teach your children about the guns. Let them handle and shoot. My children have absolutely *NO* curiosity toward guns. All curiosity has been wiped away with knowledge. Curious and uneducated children are DANGEROUS to themselves and others around guns. Satisfy their curiosity by letting them feel the recoil and the power you have in your hands. Talk to them about why you have the guns and appropriate use.

99.99% of all child related gun accidents are by children that were not educated about them, became curious and manages to set one off. Of course there is age appropriateness.

Self defense and arms are our rights according to Natures God. And, if any of you out there say that is not the “Christian Way”, may I remind you that those who beat their swords into plowshares will plow for those who done. Period. Its the way it has always been.

Do you want to plow or do you want to be free? There are only two choices: Freedom or Tyranny. As for me and my household, we choose freedom.

May the crash come soon. I’m really tired of waiting. TPTB are still abusing the system as much as they can as it is going down. I really want to see it crash on top of their heads.

      78. Very wise…….

      79. Durango Kidd, maybe I should have prefaced the “I recommend the following”, with

“For a good basic security plan for your household”, meaning in general. Sometimes I get carried away in my posts and end up crossing frames of reference and audiences all in a few paragraphs. Of course I wouldn’t recommend that she in her situation buys a gun and hides it on him, and just as bad puts her children in jeopardy in so doing. That would be irresponsible.

However, I take offense that I am somehow a whiner or defeatist simply because I have a plan, one which I believe to be a good one. If you could kindly explain, as maybe I have misinterpreted you.

      80. Hey Airborne!, don’t forget, after you’ve buried your stash weapons, to go ahead and do your weed and feed chores with your broadcast spreader over the whole area.  My personal recipe is two parts weed and feed, and one part steel shot (size doesn’t seem to matter much).  Of course, you may find that a higher concentration of shot may be needed to ensure good coverage on the first couple applications, after that, you’re just doing maintenance!  🙂

      81. Inert gases from the last column in the Table of Elements chart always protect special items from oxidizing.  That’s why they call them Noble.  #2 & #18 can be purchased from any welding shop or ……. you could just go buy a couple of balloons.  Oz of prevention.

      82. Chris C.  at the beginning of that same post you said you believe that the US Constitution was “nothing but a quaint relic now”. Not so.

Americans are going to press for their freedoms and liberties to be restored. We are awake now, and we are pushing back, using that Constitution as the weapon to hammer the ptb. There appears to be a few posters here who have either given up and caved in to the ptb; or who are deliberately spreading defeatism when the battle has just been engaged by the Silent Majority now known as the tea party / patriot movement. American patriots are not going to take it anymore, and anyone that has neither the guts or inclination to persevere, needs to get out of the way of those who intend to make a difference and restore American values to the nation.

So I don’t have much use for, or any sympathy for, those who want to piss and moan, cry and complain, but fail to rally to the “call”and take constructive action. That action must first be political. Second, that action must be financial. In an internet world, a five dollar donation to the American cause of your choice would go along way. Emails to your representatives can go a long way too, if enough people engage.

As an example, we can use tax dollars to develop solar and wind energy independence for homeowners, or we can use tax dollars (one trillion dollars every year) to underwrite big oil. SEE: SHTF America’s Energy page. Then register your opinion with your rep.

If you are not one of these PMCC don’t take my criticism to refer to you. Nothing has changed since 1776: if you believe in America then you must fight for her. Get on board or get out of the way.

      83. DK, yer just a little off.  The action must first be financial.  Only when severe damage has been done to the PTB, with some of them collapsing entirely, will they take notice.  Then, and only then, will there be political candidates on every ballot ready to take things in hand and make a difference.  Right now, the only choice on any of our ballots are between phony shills set up by powerful, big money interests.  There are no real leaders anymore, only scum parading around with their hands out.  The money is the vote, the power, the bullet.

I do however, agree with everything else you wrote!  🙂

      84. Jonny V: here’s why I don’t think so ….. It was the banksters that originated the crash by first setting the stage for it, and then, collapsing Lehman on purpose as payback, to cannilbalize it just as they did to the S&L’s in ’87 to get their depositors and loan business; but thats another story. Read the Economics page, and in particular, the quote from Thomas Jefferson about the “FED” on shtf america.

Americans must re-organize politically if they are to get control of the country back from monied interests on one hand (republicans), and socialists on the other (democrats) Most Americans are right of center and mostly in the “middle”.

        IT WILL TAKE MONEY.

But Obama showed that small donations by millions through the internet could dominate the election process and overwhelm the “big money”. Lets say, that there are only 20 million preppers, survivalists, militias, and patriots and exclude the “born again christians’ of which ther are reportedly 50 million. If these 20 million people donated $10 to an American Rights PAC, there would be 200 million dollars to assist qualified, new leadership along the lines of Ron Paul, get elected to Congress, and eliminate the good ole boys on both the right and left.

That would be enough to control votes in Congress and once politicians on both the right and left saw Americans defending their liberties by putting their money where their mouth is, you would be amazed to see how fast these assholes “see the light”!

      85. DK, I admire your will to fight.  David Crockett had a will to fight too.  He ended up executed by the Mexican Army.

200 million dollars is piddling money compared to what the boys on the left and right have.  Did you know that Rahm Emmanuel was hired as WH COS to ensure the re-election of Obumnuts?  Know how he started doing it? By fundraising from day one forward.  Not from the same small donors that gave 20 and 50 bucks a shot (and set the fundraising record by the by), NOPE, he’s doing it by getting the money from big banks, big oil, big medical, big pharmaceutical, big union (in that order).  That shit started November 10th, 2008 (sad day, only because it coincides with a major milestone in American History which I will not elaborate to the unwashed masses).

There is no political solution without first severely disrupting the money.

      86. “As an example, we can use tax dollars to develop solar and wind energy independence for homeowners, or we can use tax dollars (one trillion dollars every year) to underwrite big oil. SEE: SHTF America’s Energy page. Then register your opinion with your rep.”

What’s this we stuff? It’s Not we, it’s them and only them. Face the facts, the empire is no longer a republic. Why would anyone register their opinons with their reps? They didn’t listen with the bailouts or anything else, why would they start now? The ruling class does not give a hoot about what the people want, nor do they give a damn about the Constitution.

See this, it’s the best written observation of how things really are in America today and your place in it:

        http://spectator.org/archives/2010/07/16/americas-ruling-class-and-the/print

The people who say, “Don’t Vote” make more sense, or even the people in favor of Nullification on a State level.

As far as that woman asking about getting a gun, while a gun is the best choice for self-defense, another option is to have a knife. According to Ferfal a knife has the advantage in close quarters and they can be kept in plain sight on the kitchen counter or tucked in an easy to access pocket in a purse. Better than nothing.

      87. Jonny V:    “Better to die in the flower of youth, with the chance of winning a noble name, than live at ease like the sheeple, and die unloved and unreknowned. “    Perseus on his way to Troy

200 million may be piddling to what they have, it is not piddling to what they spend. And one must start somewhere. When the masses engage they can make change. That change is just beginning. Then there are guys like Clark, there are always guys like Clark, who want to piss and moan, cry and complain …… and do nothing. Probably another overachiever on unemployment.

Government is like the lottery: you can’t win if you don’t play, and you cannot change if you don’t engage. So all of you cry babiescan  just sit on your hands and catch farts!!!!!

      88. I see by your smart ass comments that you firmly believe in sacrificing yourself at the very first opportunity.  I believe in sacrifice too, the problem is that sacrifice on the alter of the “public good” is a surefire way to no-where-ville.  I want to make sure that my sacrifice counts in black chips, not pink ones.

I HAVE played.  I tried the game.  I have seen “behind the curtain”…….That’s why I have the opinions I do right now.  I’ll b e a “baby” if everyone thinks so, but I figure that I’ve had a good chance to see what’s up.

After seeing what’s up, my advice is to buy silver (all you can afford, discontinue your “regualar” retirement plans) and ammunition (same spending plan as silver).  There is a shit-storm a-comin and there aint no gov’ment way out of it.  There’s gonna be SSSOOOOOOOOMMMMMEEEE   BBBBBLLLOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      89. I am right here people; not only is thier no limit as to the number of guns, the right to bear arms does not mean ONLY guns; according to the 2nd admendment you can own as many tanks; flamethrowers; knifes; bows; crossbows; a stealth bomber fully loaded with NUKES would not be a violation of said 2nd ad. if you could afford ’em…………just saying, and O how the government WOULD BEHAVE; if this revelation would only take hold in some hearts and minds……….

      90. You are a fucking libtard, the 2nd Amendment is clear.  I’ll tell you what, you get rid of 2.5 million troops and all your guns then I’ll get rid of mine, how about that?  FUCKING Double speaking Hypocrites!

The power that the government has greedily snapped up at every corner illegally is better left to the hands of the PEOPLE and other forms of government, I can much easier affect local opinion if I don’t like a law far sooner than federal opinion (because the feds are a bunch of elitest snobs who don’t give a fuck about anything but there 401k).

I’m so tired of giving speechs to morons like you, why don’t you just go fucking back to russia you fucking propagandist!

      91. Comments…..Meat eater, just stand back and watch. The effects of having to kill are better than being dead. Surely you know that if you are who you say you are.

      92. Comments…..well these neighbors could just be made up comments to sway peoples minds, papers are a;; owned by one group of people. and th3y have an agenda. you can only shoot one gun at a time so who cares how many soemone has,I like to think he would pass them out to everyonwe when needed.

      93. Does freedom ring?
Or is there only the sound of permission granted and revoked?

As an analogy, picture a salesperson telling another person that all a car needs is an oil change and a tune-up and it will run the way it’s supposed to (or even better) and as a result never leave you stranded on the side of the road again like it has done many times over the decades after previous salespersons from the two big repair shops in town have made the same hollow claims and then drained your bank account. Won’t you sign the form that allows them to force you to pay for this?

And of course as part of the deal they will rummage through your glove compartment box without your permission as if they own the car and take your CD’s and other valuables to ensure they’re not stolen or contributing to a rough running engine as they feel having too much stuff (especially steel and lead) is a cause of poor performance and handling – all while ignoring the bald tires.

The problem is, the car has a blown head gasket which means an oil change and a tune-up will provide no benefits nor will it help to prevent a break down in the future. What the car really needs is a new or rebuilt motor and some better tires.

Or perhaps a car isn’t even required at all and you should sell it to free up some extra money to help you out in these hard times and to avoid future repair bills. One thing is for certain, take your can to someone else for repairs or better yet do them yourself.

I hope there are a great many more people like myself who use common sense and look for the root of problems and discuss them with others to find a solution everyone can enjoy rather than rely on the slick promises provided by those who stand to gain from our misfortunes by continuing to do the same thing over and over again while expecting different results.

Peaceful non-violent solutions are out there for those who bother to look – and they have a good track record – unlike what the slick rip-off artists of the ruling class have in mind for the future.

The choice is yours,… for now.

      94. outta my cold, dead hands….

      95. Comments…..It will be a miracle if he gets even 1 rifle back. When ever the “law” gets their hands on a gun or rifle you DO NOT get it back. The Le Flore County Seriff’s Dept. (Oklahoma) stole a 22 rifle & a 20 guage shotgun from me.

      96. Comments…..Every major US city is a bankrupt lethal toilet.  Every day another city falls to the control of negro gang bangers and illegal aliens.  God bless any decent law enforcement left out there.  Too often Law enforcement targets soccer moms and law abiding citizens with brain dead Americans supporting the attacks on freedom and our liberties.  Now that you have done this gun check to a decent citizen law abiding citizen how about a raid on Chicago?

      97. they can’t legally touch those guns with out probable cause that the gun owner committed a crime, they clearly violated the constitution. the police broke a lot of laws and need to be JAILED.

      98. This is America so what’s the problem?
You people who think there can be too many guns are Un-American and need to be deported for treason!
“If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”—Samuel Adams

‘Liberty’ has become a mythical concept in this cosumerist-society.
It’s not mythical; in fact each one of us lives and prospers daily
because of Liberty. You can do what you want to do in this country.
However, in the words of Wendell Phillips, ” Eternal vigilance* is the
        price of liberty”

For those of you who dissagree, you can leave this land and take your mindset elsewhere this is America The land of the Free and Home of the Brave ……Not the land of the fee & home of the slave!………………………………..
Only a traitor would speak out against the Second Ammendment in any way shape or form, the citizenry has the right to own ALL Types of firearms at all times without limitations of any kind.
You who are so afraid of your neighbor having many guns need to Fear your government instead and arm yourselves and be ready to fight the tyrants running Our nation!……..You will soon be in Bread Lines and round up like cattle and taken to the camps , America is being destroyed by design and you think the “Global Market” is good for America your a fool ! the “global market” is the trojan horse that destroyed our powerbase and it is Anti American in it’s design………………….
Your traitors deserve your fate when the roving gangs & starving masses come for your food and children!

      100. Comments…..491 to be exact.

      101. These sheeple react like typical droids who have been lobotomized by years of exposure to MSM paranoia.

      102. How to convict any gun owner:

If you have a basement with a steel door, then it counts as a bunker.

Pool cleaning supplies, ordinary household chemicals, a chemistry set, PVC pipe
or some plumbing supplies lying around are “bomb-making materials”.

Fireworks, black powder, and percussion caps are explosives.

More than a single box of ammunition is “thousands of rounds” or a cache. More
than two guns is an “arsenal”.

Owning camouflage makes you a member of a “militia”.

Bitching about taxes, Democrats, welfare, or government in general makes you an
        anti-government terrorist.

Any rifle with a scope is a “high-powered, long-range sniper rifle”.

Any rifle with a detachable magazine is a “high-powered military assault rifle”,
        regardless of caliber or design.

        Any shotgun is “sawed off”.

Any inert artillery shells, spent M72 LAW tubes, brass from a 5″ gun,
novelty/practice grenades, or inert demonstration models of RPG rounds are
presumed to be live, functional, and capable of obliterating whole schools full
        of children.

If it has a fence and a shed in the backyard, it’s a compound.

If you own a Confederate flag or any WWII literature, you’re a white
        supremacist.

If you went to a gun class once or participate in reenactments, you were
involved in “paramilitary training”. In fact, the VPC, Brady Bunch, Handgun
Control Inc., etc. once tried getting all reenactments (specifically
Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI, and WWII) banned because they served as a
means of training large numbers of people for taking over the government back in
        1992.

If you own Unintended Consequences, Enemies Foreign and Domestic, 1984, Animal
Farm, Atlas Shrugged, or Brave New World, you’re in possession of
“anti-government/hate literature”. They’ll have a field day over the Anarchist
        Cookbook.

And God help you if you own the US Army survival manual, or the improvised
        munitions handbook, etc.

If you have a dog, it’s a pitbull and is extremely vicious and trained to kill,
        regardless of breed and temperament.

If you have any friends, they’re a “domestic terrorist network”.

If you don’t have friends, then you’re a dangerous loner who has a grudge
        against everyone.

If you reload, you’re either manufacturing explosives or building
armor-piercing, heat-seeking, baby-killing ammunition designed only to kill kill
kill. As opposed to other bullets, which just want a hug.

If you have aspirin, tylenol, Flintstone’s vitamins, or a prescription, you’re
        in possession of drugs.

If you have one or more parts kits, a machine/tool shop, or any combination
thereof, you’re manufacturing machine guns. Whether or not any machine guns are
        actually present.

If you have maps of your home town, D.C., maps or pamphlets for landmarks, or
basically any map available at any gas station, those are maps of your targets
and get-away routes. Nevermind that they’re from a vacation you took to those
        locations ten years ago.

If you have a copy of the Constitution, Bill of Rights, or Declaration of
        Independence, you’re a dangerous right-wing seperatist.

If you own a Bible and/or homeschool your children, you’re a religious extremist
        and a child abuser.

If you have pictures of your infant taking a bath or playing in the sprinkler
naked, you’re in possession of child pornography.

Listen to rock and roll, heavy metal, or country music? Play Doom, Grand Theft
Auto, or Call of Duty? Expect to hear about your violent background and
        hate-filled entertainment.

If you own a ski mask or balaclava, then you’re DEFINITELY up to something
eeeeevil, ’cause only bad guys wear ski masks or balaclavas (unless you’re a
SWAT/ATF ninja). Who cares if it gets 20 below and you’re outside a lot?

Own programming books? You’re probably an evil hacker.

Got some gas cans, wine bottles, or the aforementioned fireworks? You’re an
        arsonist too.

If your guns aren’t scary enough on their own, they’ll cut the orange tips off
your airsoft guns and stick those on display too.

People will be told exactly how far away your house or apartment was from the
nearest school or university, with the implication that you could have gone nuts
and begun slaughtering helpless students at any moment.

If you own body armor, that’s proof that you intended to do something bad,
because only the police would shoot at you.

It will always be heavily implied, if not outright stated, that you are mentally
unstable based solely on the number or type of firearms you own.

See how easy this is? I could go through any gun owner’s house and within twenty
minutes have him tried and convicted as the next Unabomber.

Whether or not they kill you, your family, and your dog when they kick in your
door at three in the morning, throw blinding and deafening explosives at you,
and point machine guns in your face, expect to have all of your worldly
possessions put on display on tables in your front yard and for the media to try
and convict you before you even reach the police station.

      103. How many pairs of shoes are too many?  This is a non issue for me.  The fact that the jack booted thugs took his property is the issue.  The idiots will most likely damage his collection of guns in some deliberate manner.  I hope he sues the cops for illegal theft of his property.

      104. How many guns are too many ?
There are no laws against have X number of guns. In California, I can legally buy 1 handgun every 30 days
and have no limitation on number of rifles that I can buy. This means that If I buy every 30 days of one handgun,
I will have roughly 121(not considering leap years) handgun in 10 years and x number of rifles. Am I breaking any law ?
Heck no. This is what the laws allows me. Some will ask why do i need this many ? Well, I do like collecting them and I like to
shoot different caliber for different types of hunting and etc.
This is no different why other people owns different cars.
I saw in somebody made this comment:
“Comments…..
(Sarcasm off)”
Let me answer your questions: What if someone driving a car/truck and suddenly snaps and start running over
anyone in his/her path ? My point is that it’s a risk we take everyday. Look at the situation on the Rwanda Genocide.
hundred of thousands of people were murdered in the most horrible way by means of “machete” not guns.
You say “I don’t like guns, I don’t own guns, so there for, no one else should either”. I would have been fine in the
first 2 but the third one “no one else should either” ? I have a problem with this.  Do you know what you just said ?
This is so unamerican not because you don’t have a gun, not because you don’t like guns but because you said
that no one should have a gun and that would be against the 2nd Ammendment of the US consititution. How
would you like if I say you shouldn’t have your freedom of speech. Whether you like or not, 2nd ammendment is
part of the US Constitution. My founding fathers made sure that 2nd ammendment is part of the constitution
for a reason. If you live in the United States, you need to read the US Constitution again. Real Americans treat
the US Constitution seriously. It’s our only basis for all laws. You don’t get to pick. You have to take it as a whole.
I’m not convincing you to own a gun but If you “still” believe that “no one should have firearms”
I would suggest that you read the reason why 2nd Ammendment  is part of the constitution – that if you are
an american. If you are not from US — butt out

      105. First of all, do NOT believe everything the media puts out for us to read/watch. I live right outside this dilapidated city. If you seen the telecast, not one person IN FAVOR of gun ownership was interviewed… Gun ownership is a must, (in my opinion). Illinois is the ONLY state where American citizens are not allowed to carry a weapon. Reason is because this state is comtrolled by Chicago and it’s politics. Until recently, owning a pistol in Chicago was illegal! Chicago had more gun related murders  than all the US deaths in Iraq AND Afghanistan COMBINED last year. So when someone screams “Banning guns”, I laugh at their stupidity. Besides, if banning guns actually works, why do the law enforcement agencies in England and Australia still wear bullet resistant vests?

      106. Although I don’t see an issue with the number of guns, it strikes me that the local police and media has made this gun enthusiast more vulnerable to burglary or robbery by announcing his hobby to the world. Would they have done the same with someone who had $150,000 worth of jewelry or coins?

      107. Nice ideas! I used to be having some porblems about what you already said, Now I will likely be better!

      108. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be really something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!

      109. Ranging from “rifles to shotguns” huh?
Sort of like fruit ranging from apples to bananas…

      110. Since this is supposed to be a FREE country are we going to just going to do nothing and allow governments to tell us how many or how much personal property we can own? Where is the line drawn? Maybe the government will limit the number of vehicles we can own or how many children we can have, or how much money we can make! I’m sorry but it becomes a very dangerous thing to give up our personal liberty for false security.

      111. Who is it that will make the decision as to how many guns are too many
