According to Franzese, Wall Street can’t be trusted and he would never invest his money with a well dressed fast talking stock broker. Moreover, Franzese believes that the stock market is in a massive bubble that will soon collapse and he offers up some advice for those who want to protect their wealth from being vaporized overnight.
In his book I’ll Make You An Offer You Can’t Refuse, Franzese gives some advice on how to run a successful business and shares two key investment tips. First, stay out of the stock market. Second, buy gold and silver.
I did a lot of things at times with people on Wall Street and I just don’t trust them. Bottom line.
I mean, a lot of guys are shady and they did shady things with me, so I don’t trust them. And I don’t like other people that I don’t know really well taking care of my money. I think that I can do it better.
Especially in our country, I think that there’s a bubble that’s going to burst at some point and when it does it’s not going to be good. There’s going to be an adjustment.
[When investing in gold and silver] I’m talking about physical bars because no matter what it’s always going to have a value. It’ll always be something, unlike stocks to where in our country, you know, you go to sleep and everybody tells you everything’s wonderful… then you wake up and everything’s gone.
I’m very careful when it comes to investments like that.
As you’ll see in the video above, the CNBC hosts immediately pounced on Franzese, noting that people should be diversifying their assets. And for the mainstream, diversification means stocks. Not so much for Franzese.
CNBC Host: As a retail investor then, what about diversification? I mean that’s what’s drummed into everyone’s head. When you talk about investing… diversify… protect yourself.
Second Host: I was going to say, investing in silver sounds like you’re bracing for Armageddon, right?
Franzese: Well, I don’t think so. That’s been my experience. I’ve done that rather successfully and like I said, I always have something to hold on to.
Any you know, as far as diversification, I agree with that. But, you have to have knowledge of what you’re diversifying in and not trust somebody else to pick those spots for you…
Diversification means different things for different people. For those who have had the traditional investment mantra drummed into them, as noted by the CNBC hosts, that means buying ETF’s, stocks, and bonds.
For those like Michael Franzese, it means diversifying into assets that he can touch with his fingers.
Gold and silver are certainly excellent wealth preservation tools, especially in the event of a stock market collapse as Franzese suggests will happen. But understanding why the stock market would collapse, how it will affect the economy and what the long-terms trends will look like is critical to how one should diversify their assets.
Given the current state of affairs and economic fundamentals, the end result will be tragic for millions of people who refuse to properly diversify. Because when paper markets crash, whether your paper represents stocks, real estate, food or gold, you’re going to be wiped out.
All of these are great investments, but you’ll want to have them in your personal possession when the rest of the world is in a state of panic.
- Real estate, especially farmland and strategic retreats, are certainly an investment to consider holding if you have the means available to do so. Productive capacity is critical, especially when everything else falls apart. Owning your own land will give you the ability to not only produce your own food, but to source your own water and develop strategies to generate your own electricity and even power your personal vehicles with gasifiers and other technologies.
- Food Commodities are key to survival. In general, they are traded via commodity exchanges and asset ownership is represented by nothing more than a paper receipt. In a collapse of the stock market and economy you may actually need that food. We’re not saying that you should shun all forms of “paper” investments, because these may make sense for some investors, but if diversification is what your after, then consider holding some actual goods in your physical possession. Tess Pennington, author of The Prepper’s Blueprint, has recommended at least 11 foods that will last a lifetime if they are packed and stored properly. Building an emergency food supply is a lot easier to acquire than you may think.
- Physical gold and silver, as noted by Franzese, will always have value, unlike the paper receipts that some precious metals investors are depending on in the event of a collapse. But even in the physical markets there are scammers, so if you’re making a significant investment, be sure you are getting the real thing. Options for investors are broad and can accommodate just about every budget. You can buy larger weight bars, single ounce coins, or even legal tender junk silver for just a few bucks.
- Asset Diversification comes in many forms and is dependent on what you expect to happen and what you can afford to invest. Assuming we are avoiding traditional paper investments, there are a host of other potential assets one can acquire. Again, if our scenario is one of collapse, then we should look to previous examples of what the fall out might look like. In Greece, underground markets sprang up almost immediately when cash dried up. Things like medicine, food and labor skills became the currencies of choice. In the U.S., a case has also been made for guns and ammunition being an asset class all unto itself and one that may be worth as much, if not more, than even precious metals given the right circumstances. There are literally hundreds of post-collapse barter items to consider for your diversified preparedness portfolio.
The bottom line, as Franzese notes in his interview, is that you cannot trust someone else to pick the right asset classes for you, especially if they reside anywhere on Wall Street.
Whatever your investments are, in a world where the entirety of your wealth can be wiped out in the blink of an eye it is critical for you to be able to hold your assets in your own hands… and then to make them disappear like Jimmy Hoffa in case others come looking for them.

I don’t trust the way the world is, and even less what it is going to. Buy food and necessitites FIRST. Hard currency is wonderful for situations that are eventually recoverable. For the MEGA SHTF, the ONLY items that are going to matter are the basics for survival. It could be years, decades, or centuries until the remaining people left start accepting anything for money. The ONLY currency could be ammo, tools, foods, medicine, etc. If you plan for less than MEGA SHTF, then hard currency is always a good bet. What should be foremost on your mind is not hoarding. PM’s but actually devising strategies to win this fight in your locales..if we win..a formulated economy will be devised not based on how much PM’s anyone has..but on the very resources of this country and markets it can restart. Farmers will once gain take preeminence in this country and rightfully so. Fair Market values will be established and a National currency will be instituted..but not just on PM’s..but the overall value of this countries resources. Energy will be of the utmost importance in free markets. Exporting will create wealth and prosperity based on real value with no more foreign entanglements and coerced influences. In our family, we call those, “The strategic Metals diversification”, and yes, we are well diversified in SMs.
And no, I wouldn’t put much “stock”(pun intended)into anything Franzese says about anything. He’s an unrepentant scumbag.
We have also diversified into water: jugs of it, solar sterilization, rain barrels, you name it. Its funny, but every time I’ve seen how you can’t last more than 3 days without water, I always laugh at that: the truth is that you can’t get past 1 1/2 or at most 2. By then, you will be so sapped and disoriented from lack of hydration that you will have neither the strength nor the mental acuity to go and look for water. Sure, if someone stumbles across you at that point, they might have water and they might want to share — if they’re human beings that is. Or they might be one of the heartless vultures already in our society. Sad but true, there are heartless SOBs who would kick a person when they’re down and out.

I noticed the other day that the gamma seal lid on my 6 gallon bucket of Krusteez pancake mix was off the bucket and the mylar bag with oxygen absorbers had expanded from pressure that had built inside.

That rubber “O” ring needs to set tight on the buckets lip… A little food grade silicone wont hurt.

I think I used one to trim my shrubs a few weeks back. Usually I just use power tools to cut wood. My Sawzall gets a real workout when I let things get too big in my landscaping. I also have a table saw, circular saw, angle grinder with metal cutting blade and a few ancient hand tools that used to belong to my great grandfather. I sure hope it never hits the fan. I’d hate to have to use one of my hand drills! (But I am glad I have it because you never know…)

I lost money in my 401k…more than once. This last time around, I cashed out early, converted it into gold and silver. I have made a few bucks, even after paying the penalty’s… Not a lot, but at least I haven’t lost any.

I was in Dollar Tree today and a lady in her 30’s was filing her basket with all types of bandages/band-aids, etc. She was filling it pretty fast, not being too choosy in what she selected. Yeah….it will stop the first one. But probably not the second.
Besides….it doesn’t cover every square inch of your body. I guarantee you that ANY bullet to any part of your body that is not protected will ruin your whole day.
At best, body armor simply mitigates damage. It’s protection against one shot to the right area.
Personally….I will be aiming for the head or groin anyway.
Groin shots are particularly demoralizing.
Can you imagine how good that feels when you take a round right at the edge of the plate and it breaks 4 of your ribs or maybe ruptures some internal doodad that makes life oh so miserable, not to mention a 308 ar can pull followup shots on target real fast, so when you take 3 or 4 shots last one square at the top of that 600$ ceramic plate and the chunk punches a hole in your sternum,,, I would imagine you would be fairly miserable at that point.
A 308 through the belt – buckle will ruin your whole day. 😉
