A former Republican Congressman from Colorado has warned that a foreign country could bribe or “incentivize” the FCC to regulate and “rein in” popular conservative news outlets, including The Drudge Report.

Former Rep. Tom Tancredo, in an opinion piece for The Hill, started out his shocking warning by downplaying the so-called Russian actors who may have spent a measly $100,000 with social media giant Facebook in exchange for ads that hurt Hillary Clinton.

Tancredo not only correctly noted that such a small amount of money could not have actually altered the election, he also destroyed the notion that the American establishment is “surprised” by the idea of a foreign government trying to influence an election.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said this month that his company sold over $100,000 in social media advertising to a Russian government-controlled front group during the 2016 election cycle. While that amount is a relative pittance and critics are saying the ads were poorly produced — where is Bill Maher when you really need him? — the discovery has raised alarms.

It’s ironic, of course, that America’s media elites are suddenly alarmed, considering that the CIA and intelligence agencies abroad have engaged in similar activity for decades. But putting that aside, what if the bigger danger comes not from amateurish foreign advertisers, but from foreign governments seeking to influence the American regulatory agencies meant to act as the citizens’ watchdogs?

The former congressman then gets to the crux of his warning, asking a very pointed question to the reader that unfortunately sounds all too plausible in this day and age.

Could a foreign government — such as Russia, Ukraine, or Mexico, for example — bribe or “incentivize” a federal agency such as the Federal Election Commission to regulate (or “rein in”) conservative news websites?

The truth could be stranger than fiction if you examine the habits of the federal commissioners who run our regulatory agencies.

Tancredo then reveals a fact that news outlets like The Daily Sheeple have long reported – there are absolutely elements within the federal government who have expressed support for censoring The Drudge Report in the past while at the same time taking dozens of trips overseas, sometimes even bashing the American way of life while doing so.

For years, Democrats on the FEC have been vocal in their desire to regulate speech on websites such as Facebook and Twitter, to say nothing of Drudge and Fox News. Will they use the news of foreign government purchasing social media advertising as an excuse to enter that regulatory minefield more boldly?

But what’s even more worrisome is that third-party groups, some connected to foreign governments, have spent tens of thousands of dollars helping regulators travel around the world. Who’s to say that quid pro quo, spoken or unspoken, isn’t part of the equation?

It’s far more likely than the idea that foreign governments might be using a website like Drudge to spread propaganda. Buying one regulator would be more cost-effective than spending millions trying to sway millions through advertising. After all, “I can get it for you wholesale” is still the American way.

Consider this. As the establishment media continues to push their 24/7 anti-Trump echo chamber, real dangers poised by other countries are going unchecked, with many in the media most likely on board with the idea that top conservative news outlets need to be censored.

At this point one can’t help but wonder (and worry) that some form of political censorship of the internet is on the horizon which will most likely be attempted by connecting the amazing success of someone like Matt Drudge to supposed Russian propaganda operations – all in the name of censoring non leftist voices.

      1. So I gotta ask WHERE’S NIBURU!!!!?????
        ITS SEPT 23.
Let me guess it stopped for Uranus hahahaha!!!!

        • not for uranus but “in” uranus

        • what do you mean could, they do bribe our politicians. bill hitlery would be set up with girls everytime he went to china

        • i hope china regulates Drudge, china has less fake news than CNN and drudge.

          • Gandhi, Chinese media is state-owned and operated just like our own MSM. You’re a fool if you believe anything coming from a Chinese source. And their censorship, especially their internet filters, are the model that the UN wants to impose on the entire world including US so STFU.

            • i know, but china is better than drudge

        • Huh? Israehell and their dual citizen shilltards in the US own the entire US Media of lies and fake news. Anybody watching the MSM is a dope. Look up “Operation Mocking Bird” Overlords are the CIA, of the biggest liars.

          • You sound more and more mentally disabled every time I read anything you post.

MSM = Extreme Anti-Israel… And now you say it’s ran by Jews…

          • CSS, get a life. Get out of mom’s cellar and get some air.

          • i think drudge is a queer man

          • we have the most corrupt system in the world, it is actually legal for foreign people or corporations to buy property and get drivers licenses. it is illegal to stop feds when hauling drugs/guns across the US border. they always claim they are on some sting mission like with fast and furious gun running.

            • That must be why all those black NFL players are kneeling during the National Anthem. Did you see that the entire Steelers team (except for one player who is former Army Ranger) stayed in the locker room during the National Anthem? Commies!

              • yes, i am done with NFL. they get not another nickle from me

        • The guy who said the world will end today, has adjusted his assessment, now the end will begin in October…

As far as censorship goes, several non-mainstream sites have been removed and banned from the web, not by regulation, but private industry decisions. They will eventually take down every site they don’t like, one at a time, citing spurious violations, etc.

      2. Could Bribe? If they have money there is no doubt every stinking elected official is for sale. easily bribed. And yes its the 23rd. nothing happening so far. But the day aint over yet. LOL

      3. The core of this article deflects blame from right here in the US (which needs to be bribed to attack Drudge?) to some bad guy foreign power. The reality is Drudge is the enemy of the Establishment / TPTB. This is like blaming inflation post closing of the gold window in August 1971 on labor wanting too high of wages and business too high of profits rather than an oversupply of money.

        • In my opinion, when they have succeeded in censoring the Internet to the point at which it is no longer possible to obtain “unfiltered” news, then the balloon will have officially gone up and the time of open rebellion against the state will upon us.

          • Anonymous5, agreed. If/when that happens then we have to let our weapons speak for us.

      4. Have never listened to the Drudge report. Free speech is just that, no holds barred opinions. Why would people worry about outside interference impacting US elections when enough of that happens within our own inside finagling framework. Touch screen voting that flips votes. Tons of advertising political dollar pie in the sky lies repeated over and over. Who in their right mind trusts that? I mean do Democrat or Republican selected candidates ever change anything that matters? Russia would have benefitted by one or the other winning in what way? The deep state handles both puppets equally. The people largely remain unrepresented.

        • Drudge is not something to listen to. It’s an aggregator of news content. It merely lists links to news items you might otherwise miss. It’s a good way to see if something major has happened without going to CNN or some other crappy mainstream site. Some links are to liberal news sites, others are to off-the-wall sites. The only real content is how he labels the links. People who don’t look at his site mistakenly think that’s he’s creating content.

            • You want to learn AK? Look up Gabe Suarez, he is the Master.

            • Don’t have to convince me on an AK. Love my Bulgarian SLR pre-ban.

                • Somebody tell CSS not to try that with his AR-15.

                  • an AR is a precision rifle not a commie shovel. the ar is better but no you cant shovel concrete with it

                    • If you all watched the video, you will note that the AK had several failures to function properly during the experiment.

So much for the myth that the AK can be buried in mud and still be depended upon as going bang without fail.

I’m not bashing the AK….it’s a good rifle. But it is not idiot proof or an absolute guarantee.

                      Just sayin’……

          • Archivist, I’m not a Drudge fan myself but he does have the right to do what he does. If anyone wants to censor me, bring body bags…..FOR THEMSELVES.

        • dont bother listening to drudge, even that stupid ponytail thing is gay.

      5. So Zuckerberg states that Facebook sold something that was against the law? Treasonous? Is he saying the Russians did something wrong? Where is his or Facebook’s responsibility in such a thing happening? Do they not screen, squelch, censor, twist all sorts of things? He should be stripped of all his wealth, leave him with $1,000,000 more than 99.99% have. I think that would be fair.

      6. Bribery and politicians in the same sentence, that’s novel.

      7. “… that a foreign country could bribe or “incentivize” the FCC to regulate and “rein in” popular conservative news outlets, including The Drudge Report.”

Then every single person who is involved in taking the “bribe” or being “incentivized” are guilty of those crimes PLUS a felony or three, Perjury, being a domestic enemy of the USA – remember that the US Constitution and each state Constitution are LAWS, with the US Constitution being the supreme LAW of this land, while each state Constitution is the highest LAW of that state.

Then add to it that they are all serving within the FCC and any/all governmental agencies with the US Constitution being their supreme Contract above and before any other contract they may be under.

The only thing left is to ask is there anyone who TOOK the Oath to SUPPORT AND DEFEND THE US CONSTITUTION going to KEEP that Oath or also commit felonies/Perjury and bring charges?

Supreme Court, Red Lion v. FCC, 1969: “It is the purpose of the First Amendment to preserve an uninhibited marketplace of ideas in which truth will ultimately prevail, rather than to countenance monopolization of that market, whether it be by the Government itself or a private licensee. It is the right of the public to receive suitable access to social, political, esthetic, moral, and other ideas and experiences which is crucial here. THAT RIGHT MAY NOT CONSTITUTIONALLY BE ABRIDGED EITHER BY THE CONGRESS OR BY THE FCC.”

One might also consider that whenever those who serve in government do something against the American people, etc then the threat of force is ALWAYS there bringing *terrorism into the mix.

*28 C.F.R. Section 0.85 Terrorism is defined as “the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives”.

Why would that be true? Because they would be using color of law, PRETEND law/legislation, not real laws /legislation defined by our US Constitution as to how they MUST be formed in Pursuance thereof the US Constitution and created by those that serve within the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Color of law. The appearance or semblance, without the substance, of legal right. Misuse of power, possessed by virtue of state law and made possible only because wrongdoer is clothed with authority of state, is action taken under “color of law.” Black’s Law Dictionary, Fifth Edition, page 241.

It is important to know the difference between what is Law here in the USA and what is NOT but is still being enforced by domestic enemies of the USA who serve within our governments.

It is also VERY important to realize that those who serve within our governments – state and federal – are under the supreme Contract that is first and before any other contract that they serve under, plus Oath bound to that document.

Dr. Edwin Vieira summerizes it all well here: “This has nothing to do with personalities or subjective ideas. It’s a matter of what the Constitution provides…

The government of the United States has never violated anyone’s constitutional rights… The government of the United States will never violate anyone constitutional rights, because it cannot violate anyone’s constitutional rights. The reason for that is: The government of the United States is that set of actions by public officials that are consistent with the Constitution. Outside of its constitutional powers, the government of the United States has no legitimacy. It has no authority; and, it really even has no existence. It is what lawyers call a legal fiction.”

“A constitution is designated as a supreme enactment, a fundamental act of legislation by the people of the state. A constitution is legislation direct from the people acting in their sovereign capacity, while a statute is legislation from their representatives, subject to limitations prescribed by the superior authority.” Ellingham v. Dye, 231 U. S. 250.
“The basic purpose of a written constitution has a two-fold aspect, first securing [not granting] to the people of certain unchangeable rights and remedies, and second, the curtailment of unrestricted governmental activity within certain defined spheres.” Du Pont v. Du Pont, 85 A 724.

“The constitution of a state is stable and permanent, not to be worked upon the temper of the times, not to rise and fall with the tide of events. Notwithstanding the competition of opposing interests, and the violence of contending parties, it remains firm and immoveable, as a mountain amidst the strife and storms, or a rock in the ocean amidst the raging of the waves.” Vanhorne v. Dorrance, supra.

        • wow get a life, once you realize amerika was bought by the illegal corporations you will shut up about rights. you are owned by foreigners slave

          • Gandhi, I’m NOBODY’S slave so YOU STFU yourself, mofo.

        • But in the end they do what they want like the Patriot Act.

        • But in the end they do what they want like the Patriot Act.

        • Cal…that is some very good info, thanks.

      8. I dont get why everybody gets all upset about Drudge,, all he does in link and highlight others articles?? So WTF is the problem?

        • The problem would be if the government decides to forcibly remove his website from the internet. If he all he does is link and highlight other articles, why are they so afraid of his site?

Look at what has happened to Stormfront.org. A powerful group of (((lawyers))) decided they would lobby to get it banned, and poof, up goes Stormfront.org in a cloud of smoke. Vanished from the internet, never to be seen again.

      9. When the flack is at its heaviest

        • when the flack is heaviest is when most pilots go down?

      10. Mrs May (UK prime minister) recently called a snap general election, even though she held a decent majority. That majority was virtually wiped out due to the clever use of social media by the opposition.

Young UK voters do not watch TV, read newspapers or look at mainstream websites. They do, however, interact extensively using social media.

The opposition party (Labour) spotted this trend and used it extremely effectively. One hard hitting video, costing less than $40, and posted on social media sites, had quite a devastating anti government effect.

This is the way elections and emotions, will be controlled (and won) in the future, not by the use of huge political slush funds.

      11. Nailbanger: I have wondered the same thing, why would they attack Drudge?

Must be that Drudge has direct news links. Links that may conflict with liberal spin.
I also wonder why most of those news stories come from UK?
Are they fake news or true?
I wonder why reporters in this country are not covering some of these stories. Does the left hand know what the right hand is doing? A communist country knows more than a FREE country?

      12. I like the Putin question to the artificial intelligence push. “How long before the robots eat us?”

      14. ISIS now defeated – What’s next, at veteranstoday.com, so the Syrians with Russian air power have defeated ISIS in Syria. A great article that casts all doubts aside about who is causing terror and using the US and its government and military to achieve the NWO goals. Comments are further down the page.

        • Some guy wearing red, white and blue knickers and wearing a top hat and sporting a white beard?

      15. Heads up. South Africa news. The Khoisan people have just declared succession from the Republic of South Africa. Included in the succession movement are Afrikaners, other Europeans living there and mixed race peoples. The Khoisan people are the original people of South Africa. They were previously called the Bushmen and the Hottentots. This will probably lead to a terrible war of repression by the government of South Africa lead by the communist ANC. Only heard this from one source, so far. Good luck in South Africa. Freedom and self determination.
