Finland’s government has collapsed just weeks before the general election. New socialist and communist reforms have failed due to the rising costs of healthcare.
Healthcare costs, which are high because of governments, have caused the collapse of the Finnish government. Prime Minister Juha Sipila and the rest of the cabinet resigned after the governing coalition failed to pass reforms in parliament to the country’s regional government and health services, the Wall Street Journal reports. Finland, like much of the developed world, faces an aging population, with around 26 percent of its citizens expected to be over 65 by the year 2030, an increase of 5 percent from today. The strain on the socialized medical system is impossible to ignore, and cannot be fixed by more government interference.
And the problems with socialism continue, as money is taken from some and given to others, eventually, the takers will outnumber the makers.
As an increasing number of people live longer in retirement, the cost of providing pension and healthcare benefits can rise. Those increased costs are paid for by taxes collected from of the working-age population – who make up a smaller percentage of the population than in decades past. -BBC
The only reform that could possibly help these failing systems is to have the government step back and let competition and the free market thrive. Of course, that’s the one thing governments cannot and will not do because it means giving up power and control over people’s lives.
Reuters reports that soaring treatment costs and longer life spans have particularly affected Nordic countries. It isn’t just Finland. Sweden and Denmark face similar bleak outlooks for their socialism as well. “Nordic countries, where comprehensive welfare is the cornerstone of the social model, have been among the most affected,” according to Reuters. “But reform has been controversial and, in Finland, plans to cut costs and boost efficiency have stalled for years.”
The Kaiser Family Foundation found that 58 percent of Americans oppose “Medicare for all” if told it would eliminate private health insurance plans, and 60 percent oppose it if it requires higher taxes, according to a report by the Washington Free Beacon. Americans are general living paycheck to paycheck and already suffer under an unjust and burdensome tax system. Socialized medicine would mean one thing is for certain: more of your money will be stolen from you to pay for it. It isn’t about giving everyone healthcare, it’s about a boost in power and control for government officials and politicians who think they have the right to steal from us and run our lives.
When is enough enough?
Gee – I have not seen this on the MSM?
‘The goal of socialism is communism”
Even a small country like Finland can not support Socialist policy’s
So imagine a country of 350 million – It would be a nightmare.
The American system doesn’t work either …example my brothers young son fell cut his chin deeply need stiches- guess what the US system charged …$8000.00 (2018), in Canada it would be ZERO!!!
Yes, we all pay a little more in taxes to have a Provincial Health care system (single payer system) but you Americans have a FOR PROFIT system it has to cost more they want the profit. I have no idea why Finland or any other country gets into economic trouble, the US is 22+ Trillion in the hole even without socialized medicine. What is the difference you pay for health care via single payer system no profit motive, or pay premiums and co pays to a private company gouging you profit? All I can say is Americans seem to love their criminals and oppressors.
Funny little anecdote. Here’s one for you. My aunt was diagnosed with a rare leukemia. She was given 6 months to live in BC. She opted to cross the border into Spokane for treatment. Guess what? With care from American doctors she lived another 18 years.
Another useless anecdote. she may have lived that long in Canada as well.
So why do so many Canadian oncology patients come to North Dakota for treatment? Why did one of my husbands Drs. (A Canadian) practice in Canada and then come to the US in August once he met his Canadian “annual quota of patients”. Why did a friend (Canadian) have his life saved after a traumatic head injury in a US ER when his treatment would have been “free” in Canada? Just asking….
Nope, we love our freedom. Freedom is messy, inefficient, costly, etc.. but we are not trading freedom for security.
It didn’t cost an arm and a leg for health care just a few short years ago, until Obama got in and the Socialists put in Obamacare. Their plan was to sink normal healthcare and encourage hospitals to overcharge, that would cause everyone to run to Government run healthcare.
Just because there are greedy Health care companies, doesn’t mean I want the Government to decide who gets treated and who does not. Socialist Bureaucrats and functionaries favor their own
In the USA, we divide up into demographics and a vortex of classes. It cannot be changed as we are uniquely mixed into ‘groups’, demographics. As soon as National Health care would kick in, Black and Hispanic administrators would discriminate against Little Old White Ladies, massively killing them off in favor of handing all the resources to their own constituents.
Old versus young, black versus white, native born versus immigrant. The Class Warfare and divisiveness of the Socialist/Democrats would guarantee a South Africa like outcome.
Dear Canadian, your health car is free but many of my Canadian friends have to come here for healthcare as yours is so jammed up it takes forever to be seen.
Hey to the Canadian Buffoon – Your little utopia known as Canada is very, very FAR from perfect you shit-talking jackass. Your P.M. loves fags, muslims and he-she’s more than you and your type so piss off already.
Old Canadian, can you explain how a couple of years ago it was Canadian dollar 1.05 to 1 U.S. Dollar and today its .75 to 1 ?
Saw an article the other day, personal tax rate in Finland is 54%, why bother going to work?
FALSE INFORMATION: 25% is more the real situation…
Yes and the Communist City of NY is about to go bankrupt because of socialism as well.
This is getting very real. 21 County Sheriffs in New Mexico are refusing to enforce new gun laws restricting private sales. These men/women are putting their careers, profession, and Families well being on the line by standing against gun control and protecting the 2A.
This is not some “fear porn” story. Look what is taking place now that the power is off in Communist Venezuela. Look what took place in Argentina back when the Commie’s took over there. Argentina never fully recovered .
As that great patriot Paul Revere was supposed to have yelled out,” To Arms to Arms”!
What are you prepared to do?
SW, NYC went bankrupt once back in the mid-70s then received a bailout. It’ll be interesting to see if they get another bailout this time. I’d say let them go belly-up.
I went to my brother to ask for a loan cause I was busted, and he said I was just thinking about calling on you cause I’m busted. Sound like a song? DR whose gonna bail NYC out, surely not the Feds, cause they’re BUSTED. Trekker Out
MT, I’m hoping NYC DOESN’T get a bailout this time around. They deserve to go belly-up with all their stupid socialist crap.
Ray Charles song- I’m busted:

Let the hole BURN!!!
Everyone keeps saying that nationalized health service works great, but they fail to realize it did only as long as those countries were still riding the wave of the wealth created by the previous capitalist system, had cheap and plentiful energy, and had not accumulated mountains of debt from future prosperity.
Oh, and the mass MENA inflow of immigrants didn’t help much either.
The same is coming home to roost here in the US.
The Norwegian lemming is not like an ordinary rodent that runs and hides. Instead, the red haired and colorful lemming from Norway shows itself proudly and, like a Viking, it savagely assails any and all, big and tall, even humans and other wild beasts.
Until the people of Finland, Sweden, Norway and the USA stop invasion by migration, no economic or social solution is possible.
Who lets foreigners take over without fighting back? As William Pierce often said, “lemmings”. I am sure he wasn’t referring to the Norwegian lemming; but subtly implying that the meek lemmings need to learn to be as aggressive as their Nordic ancestors. That survival instinct is dormant in the genes of white men, but watch out, dormant is not dead. It is merely asleep. “Germany Awaken” was the slogan. It has become a worldwide call to arms. Everyone is talking about waking.
So, they’ve collapsed the economy in Finland. Poking the bear.
.
“Poking the bear”? Methinks wishful thinking. More like throwing the last spadeful of dirt on the grave.
For Europe the next step is uniting into a New World Order, where everyone loves the ‘diversity”. Citizens of the world. Only where Guns are, does freedom dwell. The USA is the last bastion of freedom, and the flame is flickering from the treason of the Democrat/Marxists. We must keep our AR’s and high caps mags. Buy more guns and ammo, Patriots.
Freedom is not Free!
“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”

FAKE NEWS
You guys need to read a few different sources to get the real story. Go look at the Helsinki Times from Finland to get the real story. The government didn’t “collapse”. The prime minister resigned since he couldn’t get his reforms passed. He is getting any early start campaigning for re-election. There is no danger of Finland collapsing.
I swear all you guys read is MSM for your articles.
JRS,
I concur on your remark on Finland “collapse”. I checked the Helsinki times. They aren’t trying to privatize anything, just make the Socialist medicine mess into a more efficient mess.
As far as MSM I normally check Russian, Chinese, Israeli, British and a few other national news sites on a daily basis, mainly to get a local account of local news. I read very few American MSM news sites as they are just Democrat party mouth pieces.
JRS and Rellik, agreed their govt. didn’t collapse. Rellik, I’m PERSONA NON GRATA at all the MSM sites because I said a whole bunch of things that “offended” them. Poor sobs [SARCASM]. The last MSM site I was barred from was huffpost in 2012. Then I discovered SHTFPlan.com and it was love at first sight, LOL.
DR,
A few of the sites that have banned me.
Free republic
Gateway pundit
ABC
NBC
Daily mail
Washington times
2aHawaii
I have been given time-outs by the Hill and BBC.
The Chinese Peoples daily usually will leave my
comments up for a few days before they delete if
they don’t like them.
Most all other places like what I have to say.
This site SHTFplan, I do comment on and is the
only site that has has saved me money and helped
me out as I prepare for the inevitable disasters
in the world. The politics discussions are
entertaining and the site owner is surprisingly
open to contrary ideas. HCKS or acid etch are examples.
There is some internecine warfare occasionally, and
that is regrettable as I think our main purpose
is to share ideas and educate each other in secular
areas.
I hope this site stays around.
I, too, hope this site stays around. It’s one of few where I feel comfortable expressing my thoughts even though occasionally someone may heartily disagree with my observation. Unfortunately, more banning is going on such as Amazon refusing to sell a book and YouTube is constricting contrarian views quite heavily also.
I appreciate all the info shared here; I feel I’ve learned a lot and hopefully, I’ve shared a few worthwhile things as well.
I’ve never been banned from anywhere. It always seemed like the posters on those sites were so far into their cups (either alcoholic or kool aid) that it would have been a waste of time to comment.
Three cheers for free speech!
You would think the Feds would Front a site like this where they could collect all kinds of good info that people comment on, bet they never thought of that. Question? I wonder if the Feds have any involvement in Ancestry.com sure would be a good place to collect peoples DNA? I guess that’s a silly question, just my suspicious mind. Trekker Out.
It’s a manpower issue. They usually monitor militia groups, sites like Stormfront and the freemen, etc.. If the SPLC has a site on it’s radar, then the FBI bears down on them.
Rellik, I hope so too. I have to take my hat off to Mac for putting up with me as long as he has. The site has also been helpful to me in some ways. Eisenkreutz is OK for entertainment but I wish he would stop using all caps. I miss HCKS; now that was good entertainment.
He was a member of the more conservative Center party and was a businessman who wanted to reform some of the healthcare programs. It backfired and now the Social Democrats may win the election.
I generally like most of the posts here but some of them just parrot the bosses lines.
Another thing. Why is there a picture of a Venezuelan hospital room in this piece? What does it have to do with Finland? Besides, if you follow that photo back it goes to IRIN, a spinoff of a UN organization. IRIN is funded, in part, by the Open Society Foundation(Soros) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Take that propaganda photo with a grain of salt. Soros is known to work with US NGOs to foment color revolutions abroad.
LMAO!
Increasing medical costs are definitely put the hurt to many Americans. For most Americans, retirement has become a pipe dream. The best that they can hope for is partial retirement where they work part time. Rising medical costs have taken the gold out of the “golden years”.
It’s SOCIALISM. That says it all.
I don’t understand living week to week. You don’t have to there is good jobs out there. People only want to work in the job they want. Well that is not happening. If you wait for the perfect oppertunity you will refuse good oppertunities. Forget your journalism persuit. You need to provide for yours. Plenty of people do jobs they hate cus it pays the bills and they put $ away weekly. Your only poor if you want to be. The pity party woe is me crap doesn’t get sympathy from me. Fucking geniuses think that manual labor is beneath them would rather be poor and bitch about it. Your not that important just becus you have a degree get over it. The dream is over it’s just work.
Don’t have to look outside the US to find people being ignored by demturds and repubs alike. US citizens. Still without power, water, food. Shows the true types of garbage we call politicians. Thank goodness the voting system is broken and none of this crap will be elected to anything.
That examining room is appalling. Even my garden barn isn’t that nasty.
It’s fake. That is not blood on the floor! Look at the color! I know my monitor is not THAT far off color!
Certainly importing a large number of Middle Eastern anchors, many from the scenic paradise of Somalia added to their economic liability and did nothing for their assets.
Finland floated a trial guaranteed universal income in 2017. You can see articles stating that they have terminated it now… with observations that no one knows why??? Well, thy have run out of other people’s money. Simple.
The biggest trouble with socialized medicine we all will eventually die, and the government will spend a lot of money trying to prevent the inevitable. No one has gotten out of life alive yet, but a lot of people have spent a lot of money trying.
The biggest problem with socialized medicine is everyone will die. That means a lot of money spent in the futile attempt to keep everyone alive forever.
That is where the old saying “No one has ever gotten out of life alive” comes from. Now a lot of people have spent a lot of their own money trying to beat that, but no one has succeeded. In socialized medicine, they will be spending your money and using your resources while you wait, in that futile attempt to stay alive forever.
Long time reader here. While I often agree with both articles and many comments, I do have to filter it a bit because of a certain bias…
When it comes to this story however, I have to protest the way it is portrayed. The Finnish government didn’t collapse because of our health care (which we’ve had as long as I’ve lived) or “socialist and communist” reforms of our health care. Rather the reverse. The idea of the reform was to cut costs and make it more efficient, but in typical governmental manner they thought only a radical centralisation would achieve it. The challenge is that we have a large geography compared to the population and centralising everything does not address that.
The government collapsed because it tried to stubbornly force through a huge reform that was badly prepared and did not even ensure it meets the constitution! Having made this their number one agenda, they had no credibiity to continue.
I celebrate this as a rare occasion where sanity finally stopped mostly political overambitious. A lot of work has been done and reforms in one way or another will continue, it just wont happen the way a former IT guy (prime minister) thought he can run a country. In a company you can sack your employees, but in a country you cannot sack your citizens, it is the other way round!
Almost everybody agrees that certain reforms are necessary to keep our level of healthcare in the future. Even though our health care costs are very reasonable by western standards (and far far lower than in the US), we too have an aging boomer population and a decreasing birth rate, forcing adaptiation.
Government “collapsed” as an election trick. Parliamentary elections were and are due at April, and party of Prime minister was in free fall. PM tried cheap trick to distance himself and his party from government policies just before election.
Reform that government tried was not going pass parliamentary process as it was found to be unconstitutional in many details.
And by the way that reform was to be more “market” oriented, meaning privatisation of service and was highly disliked by people. So it was not “socialised medicine” but “privatised medicine” and people disliking it that made PM to draw conclusions.
Btw, our healthcare system is hybrid one, there is publicly funded system, and if you are wealthy enough you can buy private insurance from multiple insurance companies and use private system, or pay out from your own pocket and use private system. Public system is available to any citizen or permanent resident, and out of pocket co-payments for patients are minimal.
As Margaret Thatcher once said…
the problem with Socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money. Why work hard and be a producer if those that won’t do the same get the same with less effort. Might work for a short while, but not for long.
the us senators and lots of government employes are covered by socialized medicine, its just too good for the rest of us taxpayers, we just get to pay for overpaid officials
