Because the government must maintain direct control over everything we consume, the FDA is now set to ban access to over-the-counter antiobiotic medications. Such medications, classified as veterinary antibiotics, are often used by pet owners to treat bacterial infections in fish and livestock. For those preparing for a breakdown of emergency services in the event of widespread disaster where hospitals may be closed down and medical personnel unavailable, the banning of these drugs means that preppers can no longer purchase these medications over the counter and outside of view of prying surveillance state eyes.
Starting January 1, 2017, the equivalent of a veterinary prescription will be required for certain OTC antibiotics.
James Rawles reports via Survival Blog:
Many preppers store antibiotics for fish or livestock water/feed medications over the counter (OTC). As of January 1st, 2017 this will come to an end as livestock producers will be required to get a VFD (veterinary feed directive) from a veterinarian to obtain these antibiotics. I don’t want to go into the specific differences but think of it as a prescription.
For anyone wanting antibiotics I would recommend getting some before the first of the year.
I am a mixed animal vet in the Ozarks. – E.E.
JWR Adds: A full list of drugs transitioning on January 1st from OTC to VFD status can bee seen in this FDA PDF. As news about this upcoming law change spreads, we can surely expect to see shortages at farm and ranch stores, and from mailorder vendors. Stock up. Several of our advertisers sell veterinary antibiotics at competitive prices. Please give them your patronage, and mention SurvivalBlog, when you do.
In a serious emergency, or even an economic collapse like we saw in Greece several years ago, lifesaving medicines may become totally inaccessible to the general population.
The Prepper’s Blueprint author Tess Pennington explains the importance of these medicines for preparedness in her article Antibiotics for SHTF Planning:
Having this medicine on hand in extended emergencies can help prevent infections or even save a life.
Fish antibiotics are also becoming popular storage items among preppers because no prescription is required to purchase them.
Antibiotics are an essential preparedness item to have on hand for extended disasters; however, they should be taken when they are needed the most. Understanding the differences between the different antibiotic families, knowing the effects they can have on the body as well as knowing which antibiotics would be best for specific medical conditions will help you make the right choice when comes to buying them.
Full report: Antibiotics for SHTF Planning
If you have not yet put antibiotic medicines in your preparedness supplies we encourage you to do so before January 1st. While not all OTC medications are being restricted, pet stores are now making it more difficult to acquire in large quantity without raising suspicion (such as buying 5 bottles for your “aquarium”) and it is likely only a matter of time before those antibiotics not on the above list are included in the VFD Drug requirements.
Editor’s Note: In response to this push towards restricting access to pet antibiotics, our friends at CampingSurvival.com have made their OTC products available at a discounted rate; just use the coupon code FISH10 when ordering any of their fish or bird antibiotics and save 10% instantly.

Off Grid Antibiotics: For When There is No Medicine
Beware that tetracycline once it expires becomes toxic. Look at the ad on the right for deals (Antibiotics, packages for preppers). Zpack is a good strong antibiotic.
Another good thing to have is a nebulizer with colloidial silver for lung/resparatory issues. Inhaling silver mist is great for bronchitis etc. I have done it and it works!
I second that on the colloidal silver. It kills viruses and bacteria.
Here’s some serious news about the latest in kosher thought crime—Imagine the “mainstream” media outcry if the Congressional puppets had made it a crime to criticize Islam or Islamic crimes against humanity…
The gradual erosion of the First Amendment:
The U.S. Senate has passed the “Anti-Semitism Awareness Act”
revisionist review DOT blogspot DOT ca/2016/12/anti-semitism-awareness-act-passes-in.html
“…The Act is an extension of growing Israeli supremacy over our Republic through the implementation of laws consonant with Talmudic halacha, which consists of one law for the lower-souled goyim, and another for the higher-souled Judaics (cf. BT Sanhedrin 57a; Kiddushin 66c; Erubin 21b; Bava Metzia 114b; Kerithoth 6b and 58a; and the Chofetz Chaim’s Mishneh Berurah: O.H. 330, among many other halachot). …”
Don’t bet your life on colloidal silver. It will kill bacteria, but it doesn’t work very well on viruses. H2O2 will kill viruses much better. Inhaled H2O2 is very effective for all respiratory problems and it helps the entire body at the same time because it oxygenates the system.
I haven’t been to the Dr. in 7 years, since I started taking silver.
I make my own, even distill the water as I do not trust bottled water.
The problem with h2o2 is in the 30% pure form it will burn the living hell out of your skin or anything it touches. I spilled some on a wood counter and it fookin ate a hole in it. Of course you have to dilute it first but why mess with it at all when you can just use stabilized oxygen? You will never get burned to shit with it and it has the same effect. h2o2 is as bad as battery acid or maybe worse if you spill it or get it on you or your clothes. Do a search for stabilized oxygen, the prices and strength vary a lot so do your homework.
Even 3% H2O2 is still an oxidizing agent. Keep in mind that oxidation and free radical formation are the main ways that ozone, UV light, ionizing radiation, and H2O2 exert their germ killing effects. Oxidation and free radical formation are also mechanisms that injure human cells. Huff too much of that H2O2 and you will die of pulmonary edema or induce carcinomatous changes.
After the post-apocalyptic starvation die off, I suspect that home remedies will kill as many people as predatory humans.
Roger that on the 30% H202. It’s a raw material in a variety chem manufacturer. Once splilled a little on asphalt and it quickly softened up and started bubbling. Also one co worker spilt some on his leather boot. Don’t remember what happened with leather but he got double screwed. Blisterd bad some toes due to soak through and not gittin boot off quickly and not wearing proper PPE for handling and found not wearing steel toe boots in general as directed by GaPac policy. That stuff don’t play. Doesn’t 3% convert to purified water after some point of expiration. It will stay stabilized considerably longer if can be kept cool. Cool range ??
I’m an old peroxide huffer, too.
For influenza a sure fire product is ELDERBERRY SYRUP, made by FLORA. you can get it at any good health food store. Buy the LARGE bottles of plain syrup. You do not need the Sambucocl or Sambuguard version.
For common cold, flu, and seasonal allergies I recommend a good dose of fresh crushed garlic with some chicken soup. Take it for 3 days and most of your respiratory issues will go away. Works for me most of the time.
Chewing fresh onion or tomato+onion salad is an alternative, but not as good as garlic.
These are really natural and inexpensive remedies used for centuries.
I have tried silver solution with no effect whatsoever.
Hey genius, how exactly are you putting that all together. I have chronic bronchitis I’d like to try
You can use it in an atomizer spray bottle or a vaporizer. Just inhale the mist deeply.
lifesilver . com has a great little atomizer spray bottle and high quality nano silver solution.
Yup, I agree on the Zpack; but how do you get one? It’s the one thing I want and can’t find.
Do a search for Canadian online pharmacies. Many of them sell Zpack and other meds.
Got any recommendations? And thank you.
rxdocmed . c o m
atlantic-drugs . n e t
Didn’t show up here the first time grrrr
That’s helpful, genius. Thank you. Just made a Zpac order at Atlantic based on this.
have anything besides ED related stuff????
LOL, ya they have good deals on Viagra too! You might want to get sum lol…
On average and depending upon your locale, about 30% of respiratory infections (ear aches, “head colds,” bronchitis, pneumonia, etc.) are RESISTANT to azithromycin (brand name: Z-Pak) and azithromycin has NO effect on MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staph. aureus) or VRSA (vancomycin-resistant Staph. aureus).
You should also consider stocking:
levofloxacin (brand name Levaquin)
trimethoprim/sulfamethozazole double-strength (old brand names Septra DS and Bactrm DS)
metronidazole (brand name Flagyl)
cefdinir (brand name Omnicef)
chloramphenicol (old brand name Chloromycetin)
You might also consider stocking an anti fungal like fluconazole (Diflucan).
Find a sympathetic doctor for the necessary evaluation, get good advice when and how to use such stock, and save much money by purchasing from an online clearnet Canadian pharmacy such as northwestpharmacy DOT com or, for that matter, even learn how to use VPN, Tor, and the dark net for such private matters. If you have children, learn how to calculate correct pediatric dosages (you can use inexpensive but comprehensive references such as Tarascon Pharmacopoeia or E-pocrates). While you are at it, pick up a current edition of the Sanford Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy.
I have used the store bought 3% hydrogen peroxide for earache/infection. Just a couple drops in each ear 2x a day and it worked great. NEVER use the 30% food grade unless you want an extremely painful trip to the emergency room and possible deafness.
Over the years I’ve bought a lot of stuff from alldaychemist. Never got screwed and you wouldn’t believe how cheap drugs from outside the u.s. are. With all the problems going on in India now, I’d probably call them first.
This is not the case anymore. Do your own research into this.
As does all “cycline” antibiotics. Doxycycline included. As with all long time cycline use, best to use a probiotic with it as it is hard on the gut.
A good dose of shine also helps cure your ails too lol. 😛
Drink a jar of my wheesky and they could probably do open heart surgery on you and you’d never know lol.
Old news, only if you buy a few items in bulk. Partially deceiving too. You can get fish a/b’s all day long, for now.
Are you saying that this post and the primary sources it quotes are incorrect?
And what’s “partially deceiving”? Besides your nonsensical comment, I mean…
After January 1st you will need to present a prescription even from a veterinarian.
Just not true. Prescription will be required from a vet, only if administering to human food producing animals. Fish, horses, zebras…no change. Questionable concerning goats.
The antibiotic ban coming Jan 1 only applies to animals being used for human consumption. The information is available at FDA.gov
They’ll be banning band aids next.
No need to freak.
Just remember all of the pharmaceutical antibiotics for both humans and animals were synthesized from organic compounds. And weve got all these problems with things being resistant from over and prolonged use of the chemical stuff maybe using the original organic compounds would knock any bacteria or virus off its game since it probably hasnt seen it in a few decades.
As others have implied – either have colloidal silver on hand or know how to safely make it. Also, might want to consider growing some garlic.
Yes, CS can make your skin turn blue – if improperly made or you “overdose” on it. What happens if you overdose on antibiotics, or use some that are far past expiration date?
Oh yea. Fuck the FDA
If you have bacterial meningitis or a rare bacterial infection, you require immediate hospitalization and extremely powerful antibiotics.
Most people however, overuse antibiotic drugs, and create more health problems than they cure. I learned that natural remedies are, in some ways, more effective and have no negative side effects.
Boiled chicken with bones
Raw garlic added to chicken broth right before serving because heat destroys
Organo added at the table
Drink lemon honey ginger tea warm
Put in honey after it cools as heat destroys
You can put garlic and oregano plus turmeric while cooking so the flavors permeate the meat and flavor it, then add these same ingredients/spices right before serving for their health benefits.
Use black pepper. It makes the turmeric much more powerful. Turmeric reduces inflammation and may reduce aches caused by illness.
__ also take probiotics, vitamin C (lemon), a multi mineral or use mineral water and iodine
__ sunshine helps with vitamin D and supplement
Buy herbs like turmeric in bulk for cheap on ebay. They have capsule filling machines and empty capsules cheap too. I recommend and use the Cap m quick machine it is cheap and easy. Tumeric, Spirulina, Chlorella are my favorites. Buy activated charcoal to in bulk and grind it in a little coffee grinder, it helps with poisoning and stomach issues. Baking soda is cheap and helps de-acidize your body.
@b from ca,
You have no clue what you are talking about, medically. Stop giving people bad (stupid) advice.
Last winter I had a severe sinus problem It was so bad I could not hear out of one ear. I tried several herbs, oils and supplements but nothing worked. After a month I was ready to go to the M.D. I decided to try one more very potent and totally natural herb that kills all forms of bacteria. Within a few days I was cured. And guess what. That HERB is on Bfrom CAs list.
You don’t know what I know.
But thanks for looking out for the public health. Everything I suggest is given in a generous spirit from my own experience or that of friends or family. It is not intended as medical advice. Investigate any suggestions I make. Find a professional natural health doctor to guide you.
Apparently, the story from the Common Sense Show by Dave Hodges that the Elite are going to shut down the grid and then hit us with the biological agents is true. Something like the Thunder Storm Asthma, only more deadly. That is why they don’t want the people having access to any anti-biotic medications.
They want to totally trap everyone into having to buy their Big Pharma dope instead of having any independent alternatives. That’s why and how they intend to shut down everything else as well, except the Establishment-approved, Big Business/Government form of it.
Please be aware that some of these drugs, especially those in the sulfa class, are already difficult to find despite the Jan 1 effective date. I raise small ruminants and had a hard time finding Di-Methox and other sulfa drugs right before Thanksgiving. I had to call customer service (Jeffers Livestock/Pets– super nice people with fast shipping) and they said that after Jan 1 they will not carry the impacted drugs AT ALL— it’s too much trouble to go through vets. (It’s a TON of drugs that help really benign, common illnesses in livestock.)
Valley Vet had those same drugs in stock, and when I called customer service about the changes, she said that they had plenty in stock that lack the new FDA regulations printed on the label, but once it’s gone, regardless of the date, they will require a vet prescription. Same with PBS Animal Health. So, if you’re considering getting some for your stash, please don’t wait. I have a few things on hand, but I’ve always used herbal remedies too… Now I’m going more into that direction and plan to make more essential oils and grow more herbs for my animals.
Oregano oil is cheap and research suggests that it has very powerful antibiotic properties. Stockpiling, while a good stop-gap, will only get you so far. Time to start looking for natural alternatives and culling my livestock even more deeply for lack of hardiness. Good luck, all.
Heinrich, thanks for Educating the folks on this site, we have something big coming up. I already have anti-boitics.
One step ahead of the rat bastards.
I’ve often wondered. That when you get a fever your body is raising its temperature to a point that will kill the infection? The problem is most of your body can take the higher temp. But your brain can’t.? So it seems that putting ice on the two arteries? In your neck that go to your brain would only cool the blood to your brain ? And let the rest of your body to get hot enough to kill the infection?
I’ve also heard of junkies that will shootup bleach when they are out of drugs? Will a small amount of bleach intravenous kill infections like it kills it in the water we drink??? Maybe a last ditch effort???
Time to order from another country. The FDA is a scam sometimes.
Dr. “Bones” of Doom and Bloom website fame says the antibiotics preppers stock is NOT going away. See https://www.doomandbloom.net/the-future-of-fish-antibiotics-in-survival/
When you look at the list of antibiotics to be restricted it should have little effect on prepper use. Not affected are, amoxicillin, doxycycline, cephalexin, azithromycin, metronidazole etc and other commonly stocked drugs. This may change in the future but as yet these are not affected.
stop your worrying people. go to the dark web. it will have everything you need and more for such a crisis.
The FDA PDF says “feed” uses. The purpose of the rule is to make sure that when livestock are being routinely fed antibiotics that is happens under veterinary supervision.
Is there any evidence that this applies to small quantities for pets? Has any pet antibiotic vendor been notified that bird/fish antibiotics can no longer be sold without a VFD? The “F” being for “feed”, not “treatment.”
To the editor:
I’ve been trying to research this claim and can’t find any evidence at all for it. For all I can tell, the headline “FDA Set To Ban Prepper Access To Over-The-Counter Antibiotics” is entirely false.
The quoted facts are that the FDA is trying to eliminate use of antibiotics in feed and water for production purposes. It applies to all food animals, including rabbits and poultry to include pets and production and non-production uses. But nowhere have I found evidence it applies to pets not used for human consumption. It specifically talks about “feed” and “water” and not about pills for treatment of acute infections.
Has any vendor of pill form antibiotics intended for treatment of disease in fish and birds been given notice that a veterinary order is required to sell their products?
My primary sources of news (Zero Hedge, Natural News, SHTF Plan among others) are under attack by the mainstream as purveyors of “fake news.” My research so far leads me to believe this article is “fake news.”
What would be bona fide news would be if SHTF Plan didn’t just uncritically parrot the article from the Survival Blog but instead did some independent reporting to find out whether the FDA rules on livestock feed have anything to do at all with pill form pet antibiotics–which I still can’t find sufficient information about. Don’t give the enemy ammunition, instead take pride in vetting articles for accuracy and remaining a publisher of “real” news.
Thank you for considering this.
Old Poor Richard
Our servants think that they are our Gods. What do you say to dismantling this unconstitutional / fascist thug agency?
Odd I have cured cancer using my own c.silver, have mixed silver and 5 drops of h2o2 in a spray bottle for use in lung infections and have cured that.
Here is the link to the list of drugs that will now require a vet
I have a medeco and a vet in the family so… Yeah.
For those of you storing up, be very aware of dosage and of chemical changes over time or when exposed to heat and light. Some are hazardous.
Let’s ban the FDA.
I don’t remember reading anywhere in my copy of the United States Constitution where there is any authorization for the FDA.
It is an illegal entity.
Any law that is passed that goes against the United States Constitution has no legal authority at all.
But, it is up to us, We The People, to enforce our constitutional rights, and drain the swamp in Washington D.C. of all illegal federal agencies.
