The crisis with North Korea has hit a fever pitch with both, President Trump and Kim Jong Un, exchanging words on a nearly hourly basis.

While North Korea has threatened to reduce the United States to “ash,” Trump has responded by saying that the U.S. military is “locked and loaded” for war.

So serious is the concern that Guam, identified by Un as an initial target should war break out, has issued a nuclear war guide to its residents:

Guam Homeland Security issued a new fact sheetFriday, which the agency says will help residents prepare for an imminent missile threat.

The information was released following this week’s threat by North Korea to launch a missile attack against Guam.

The advice includes tips such as: “Do not look at the flash or fireball – It can blind you” and “Take cover behind anything that might offer protection.”

“Lie flat on the ground and cover your head. If the explosion is some distance away, it could take 30 seconds or more for the blast wave to hit,” the sheet states.

During a press conference at Adelup late Friday afternoon, Gov. Eddie Calvo told reporters that the threat level remains the same and that the island is “safe and sound.”

The full fact sheet can be found here.

We’ve previously reported that a war with North Korea would likely be initiated by the detonation of an EMP (Electro Magentic Pulse) weapon directly above the United States, potentially leading to widespread power outages, something that Homeland Security is preparing for as we speak with an exercise dubbed “Black Sky Event.”

Moreover, any EMP detonation could have radiolocial and nuclear consequences, meaning that the fall-out from a nuke blast could pose a secondary and deadly threat.  These 15 Tips Will Help You Get Home Safely Following An EMP emergency.

Whether we’re talking about an EMP detonation or outright nuclear exchange, the world is sitting on the brink of a major crisis and it could well go “hot” in coming days or weeks.

While not looking at the flash or fireball may keep you from being blinded, should we find ourselves in a situation where nuclear war is imminent, being prepared to evacuate and having life saving gear could mean the difference between life or death. The following are strongly recommended for nuclear preparedness:

The following guides may be helpful for those needing guidance on what to do now:

      1. CNN headline: A Guam Cafe is making mushroom cloud lattes.

FOX headline: #FIGHT TONIGHT; Pacific Command tweets Guam bombers are ready as North Korea tensions rise.

Guess I’ll owe most here an apology. I truly thought a nuclear WW3 would start from a stupid mistake. A stupid mistake.

The human race is stupid, but they seem to want to start this one on purpose.

        sigh 🙁

canning chicken and hope to have time to more.

every day is a gift from God to continue your prep.

        • United States can go ahead and nuke the DPRK but it should be aware that Continental America will be nuked as well.

Moreover, Koreans living in Pyongyang (the capital of North Korea) have access to underground shelters designed for nuclear war and these people are known to be very disciplined for this type of scenario…wondering if ordinary Americans still remember what to do in the event of a nuclear strike (perhaps the baby-boomers and the elderly still have memories of hiding under their desks but the rest of the population are more preoccupied with their iPhones and other gadgets). Are major cities and urban concentrations in the United States prepared for mass evacuations, escape routes, underground facilities to shelter as many people as possible ? Certainly the answer is NO.

The US may get away exterminating 15 million people in the Korean Peninsula but ask yourselves: how many people will perish in Continental United States? A very conservative number would be at least 90 million deaths right after the first nukes start plummeting over US soil (West of the Rockies including Alaska and Texas will become nuclear wastelands).

One out of three people in the United States is obese, Americans in general are extremely addicted to prescribed medications, OTC medicines and synthetic vitamins; the majority cannot accept the idea of living without air conditioning, water or electricity in their homes and most of these people lack of basic survival skills; therefore, what are the survival chances for US citizens in the event of a nuclear war? Maybe a 0.01% chance will be extremely generous.

And have no doubts that the DPRK have already achieved a second strike capability, meaning the KPA will surely use their remaining nukes to finish the job on a country already paralyzed and shocked by the first wave of nuclear devastation.

Beware also that Russia and China are allies of North Korea and they will be just watching how the United States performs on the first round of this nuclear exchange before joining the war effort and launch their nuclear-armed ICBMs and SLBMs towards Continental US.

          • Depends how much warning I have and where I am.

I’ve been playing in NukeMap. I figure they got 30 (and I also figure it’s best to assume they have some Christmas gifts from the Chinese), so I’m not screwing around with 100 KT yields. Chinese nukes are in the 5 meg range.

If I have 15 to 20 minutes warning, given my list of likely targets, I could make it to a “clean spot”.

And never move again because they’ll probably do ground bursts on anything military. I would. The decrease in effective blast radius is a trivial consideration compared to getting everything underground. THIS means that there’s going to be a nice radioactive plume cutting me off from the rest of the country more or less.

Ultimate goal is to make it to Catalina Island and then try to figure out how to charter something to Canada and cross over to the East coast via Canada. Need to meet up with people on the East coast.

If I’m at home or at work and I have 20 minutes this functions.

If I’m in between I’m dead.

If I have anything under 10 minutes warning I’m dead.

            So most likely I’m dead.

          • This is going to be like the pilot episode to Battlestar Galactica 2003, if it happens.

Why would anyone go into a toe to toe nuclear slugfest with the US? No if he does it, he’s got assets inside the US.

          • We didn’t have that “hiding under your desk” crap back when I was in school in the late 1950s and 1960s. I guess our school people knew that we would figure out “bend over and kiss your ass goodbye” on our own without instructions.

            • Archivist, you didn’t have ‘duck and cover’? Your local schools had some real winners running them [SARCASM]. We had those drills in my schools up until the late 60s. I remember it sucked getting underneath those school desks. No way I could get under one now.

              • Grandee,

Thanks for your insight. I particularly like what you said: “Prep your souls first!”. I was particularly taken by the following passages as it relates to our modern day situation at hand. Who would have thought there would be such relevant, prescient, and useful information in the “Old Book”!

                Genesis 19:15-26New International Version (NIV)

15 With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away when the city is punished.”

16 When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them. 17 As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”

18 But Lot said to them, “No, my lords,[a] please! 19 Your[b] servant has found favor in your[c] eyes, and you[d] have shown great kindness to me in sparing my life. But I can’t flee to the mountains; this disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die. 20 Look, here is a town near enough to run to, and it is small. Let me flee to it—it is very small, isn’t it? Then my life will be spared.”

21 He said to him, “Very well, I will grant this request too; I will not overthrow the town you speak of. 22 But flee there quickly, because I cannot do anything until you reach it.” (That is why the town was called Zoar.[e])

23 By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land. 24 Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land. 26 But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

                Luke 17:29-33New International Version (NIV)

29 But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.

30 “It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. 31 On that day no one who is on the housetop, with possessions inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything. 32 Remember Lot’s wife! 33 Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it.

Keep prepping, stacking, and praying because it is only a matter of time, sooner or later, and all those things prophesied by the ancients will be coming to pass!

                Love you guys and gals,

            • Pardon my lack of understanding when it comes to nuclear weapons, but I have a questions or two..
Doesn’t most of the harmful radiation come several minutes after the blast? Could we not, when seeing the flash, duck Into a ditch… similar to a tornado or hurricane if you were caught outside.?
The blast and debris should just pass right over you extremely fast..

So a simple 4ft underground cellar, that you can lay flat in, should work? When the blast is gone, put on radiation suit and mask.

There are a couple things still standing from the Hiroshima blast. I know that wasn’t as powerful as a new-age nuke, but you get my point.

              • Serge, it depends on the type of radiation. Gamma radiation will penetrate (like an x-ray); doesn’t matter what you are wearing. Lead, iron or other thick metal plates will stop it. Beta radiation can be stopped by thinner material suck as wood, aluminum or other thinner metal plates. Alpha radiation must be ingested or inhaled. Clothing, NBC gear, rain gear, etc. will protect you. You need a gas mask to keep it from being inhaled or ingested. Waiting until the blast passes you to put on gear is too late. You will have already been exposed.

          • We had the duck and cover for protection from breaking glass and other debris. We even had films instructing how to build fallout shelters with entrances that had 90 degree turns(radiation travels in a straight line like light does) how to build the ventilation system, how to decontaminate, etc. I guess we really didn’t know exactly how close we were to nuclear war. I am surprised I remember all this stuff. I remember too there were certain buildings, like the public library, that were designated as fallout shelters— those don’t exist any more. Today you’re on your own.

        • The human race IS the stupid mistake.

          Oh well. Cockroaches survive anything.

        • Don’t feel bad, Grandee. I’m just glad for every moment that we have relative peace and calm. Canning as much produce as the garden is producing. Stack, and packing. And above all, praying!

        • Lots of fighter jet activity in the sky in Charleston SC yesterday.
Not uncommon to see C11 (large cargo planes) but yesterday
saw no fewer then 2 dozen F18’s at different altitudes over a few hours. Don’t
Ususally see that type of and duration of activity.

        • From the Gov. handout:
“Fallout shelters do not need to be
          specifically constructed for protecting
against fallout. They can be protected
space, provided that the walls and roof
are thick and dense enough (i.e.
concrete) to absorb radiation given off by
          fallout particles. ”

So, If I understand this correctly….fallout shelters need not to protect against fallout. However if you have the proper materials to protect against fallout it is not a fallout shelter.

That is your government for ya folks….derelict.

      2. Hmmm….,instinct would probably kick in and even with a huge flash behind you one would probably look at least initially,,then, see you later,or not!

        • Only use 10X or better binoculars to look at the blast. Maybe all these cheap dark glasses they are selling for watching the eclipse might come in handy.

          • Gandhi and everyone else, I’ve always heard NEVER look at the mushroom cloud under any circumstances or you go blind. Did I hear right?

            • i believe you are correct, sir.

              • Grandee, thank you, ma’am. Somehow I knew was right.

                • Get a welding helmet.

            • I was being sarcastic. If you stand in front of a glass window when the shock wave hits you will be shredded and burned alive. Silly. Them that dies will be the lucky ones

          • I have a tig welder. One afternoon I was going to make two of the tiniest welds you ever saw in 3/16 rod stock.

Now arc welding can blind you, and TIG welding produces one of the most intense arcs of any kind of welder. Wel, I suit up. When welding you need to cover up because it will also give you a sunburn on your skin. I had a V neck shirt on and didn’t bother to change into a button up cotton shirt, because it was such a tiny project. I’ve got my welders mask, fire proof apron, long pants, heavy boots, elbo length welder gloves.

I make my welds, 20 minutes to set up, and I’m done in 30 seconds.

I put everything away and two hours later I look in the mirror and see a screaming triangle shaped sunburn just below my neck. To this day I protect that area from the sun, it’s the first to burn.

My point, I think I have a first hand respect for what even a distant nuclear flash might do and it’s not pretty.

If I had any clue a nuclear strike was coming, I’d grab a case of water, any kind of food, and climb 50 feet up a storm drain, six feet underground.

Having avoided the initial flash and the blast, you have about 15 minutes to find deep cover, then stay there for three to four days. Then venture out only to find better cover for another week or two. Then figure out where to go to find an uncontaminated area and go there.

            • Hmmm, someone could make a fortune selling 1000 spf sunscreen!

      3. This is such a picture-perfect example of what happens when you allow despots and nuts to run wild and do as they please!

        • How much canned chicken do you need to pile on your bunker to stop radiation ?

        • So is California.

      4. Good advice

      5. They give the general population BS preparation information that won’t save their behinds– just false reassurances…

while the people starting all this sh– have their underground bunkers up and running, some as large as ski resorts– READY for the “elite”– the 1%, filthiest rich people in the world.

      6. I just read the book, “On the Beach” about the aftermath of nuclear war and it was extremely depressing!!! Before, I thought nuclear war would just be a quick way to go— not so, at all. Truly horrific.

Guess the elite decided its about time to cull the herd… and we just let them. ;(

        • What was “truly horrific” was that “lady” the main character got with in the remake.

Eegods. Train WRECK. Dying of radiation poisoning wasn’t enough? You want more torture?

        • I’ve read “On The Beach”. Pure fiction.

        • After we bombed japan. There where suffering folks that where badly burned standing in the water. guys in boats came by mercifully and shot them. Now I was thinking about this. aint it convienent that Trump is on a 17 day hiatus from the white house. I wonder where he is holed up ?

          • Old Guy, I heard he’s at his country club in New Jersey. I wonder what happened to the presidential retreat at Camp David? I never hear it mentioned anymore. I think the last POTUS to use it was Bush Jr. I don’t think Obama used it at all the whole time he was in.

          • Trump is at his Bedminster NJ golf course. Security is heavy. Along the highways nearby are squads of state troopers. Near the golf course there’s a police car always within sight of the next car along all adjacent the roads. There are big Jumbotron signs along the roads warning people not to pull over or stop for any reason.

The tri state traffic radio, constantly reports accidents in the area as commuters who are freaking out over all the police presence, crash their cars into each other.

I had to drive through the area once when Trump was there months ago, and saw it first hand. People see police everywhere, plus they are trying to read the Jumbotron signs and just go paranoid crashing their cars into each other. It’s a bit surreal.

      7. FWMA plans conducting drills on “dark skies” scenario, in which the grid goes down— Problem is, they ALWAYS conduct drills just before the real event occurs.

Also, what does a FEMA drill consist of? How to go door to door and confiscate peoples’ guns like they did during Hurricane Katrina? How to beat up defenseless old ladies who had the nerve to show the officers her pistol? Or perhaps how to ruthlessly shoot “looters” who have the nerve to break into stores to steal food because their fridge no longer works and they are starving!

One things for sure– these FEMA drills are NOT for our benefit!! Hell, no!! Years ago, I read that “business as usual” is good for the elite. And so, that’s what these drills will be for to keep “order”, declare martial law, take away the rest of our Constitutional rights, confiscate (steal!) your guns, prevent you from looting or stocking up– to keep law and order, make sure you die without making any noise about it.

      8. Step 1: run to the nearest military base as fast as you can

Step 2: wrap yourself in aluminum foil and slather sour cream and onions all over yourself

Step 3: dance like a maniac.

Oh wait right hide under a school desk from 1950. BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THEY HAVE SUPERPOWERS RENDERING THEM IMPERVIOUS TO NUCLEAR ATTACK.

      9. Only fear tactics to drive the real US warmongers giddy with joy and their compliant sheep population bonkers to support the idiocy. Don’t look over here look over there. If you are not with us then you are against us. Trump proving his worth as a bona-fide tough shmuck to the evil subhuman deep state occupying the once free USA. Hurry up and wait. Kill everybody, happy days are here again!

      10. I’m ready but try to ignore the hoopla. I don’t think its going to happen. I’m more worried about Iran or a dust up between China and India.

      11. How I Learned to Love the Bomb

      12. Who the heck has the mony for a bunker anyhow? Not your average working stiff!

      13. Trump should start a nuke war right during the eclipse. Would be more dramatic

      14. This war of words may not result in actual war, but we may see a nice run-up in the price of gold.

      15. And given that… what I just posted…

What do you think the odds are of the Chinese dumping some Treasuries as a warning shot to our economy?

See… I used to think Kim was the one pushing himself into an early “retirement” with his rhetoric.

        I’m beginning to wonder.

        Very very seriously.

How long do you think even FLYOVER COUNTRY is going to stand behind “no more meddling in foreign affairs” boy if everything they have to buy increases by +75%?

Everyone on the Left (and there are legion) is screaming for impeachment as it is.

Lose half the right on top of that?

        Mmm.

This isn’t a game of chicken he can win, if being radioactive’s not already enough for him.

I certainly didn’t get behind him for this. I got behind the “least likely to blow shit up” candidate. Says a lot that it was him, but it was.

        Now…?

      16. Yep I don’t like the way this is playing out. I would have thought Trump was smarter than to get us into a nuke war. he needs to fire those warmongering generals. Close our bases in places like south korea and Get the USA back on track by minding our own business. I think a nuclear war would be the hardest most difficult if not impossible SHTF event. Guarntee you this. even if I am dying of radiation poisioning. I am bound and determined to travel to Mt Weather and make certain that those who are responsible are brought to task. I will do my best to make certain those countinuation of government assholes inside never see the light of day again. And I do Have the necessary Know How to do the job. I certain I can gather the folks who I need assistance from to do the task. This senseless nuclear bull has got me very mad. And I hardly ever get mad. I mostly get even.

      17. some of you who laugh at covering your head under your school desk was not to protect you from the nuclear bomb, but from glass and debris from the windows being blown in by a pressure wave if the bomb hit some miles away. this would lessen casualties so it actually made sense depending on how far away the bomb strikes from your location

      18. GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS CONCERNING A NUKE ATTACK ON XXXX XXXX, ARKANSAS, THE GOOD NEWS IS WE ARE SAFE HERE BECAUSE WE ARE NOT WORTH A NUKE BOMB. THE BAD NEWS IS, WE ARE NOT WORTH A NUKE BOMB.

        • your comment reminds me of…

          Dogpatch, U.S.A.

Dogpatch’s U.S. congressman, tells the citizens that Congress has declared Dogpatch the most unnecessary town in the U.S., and so it must be evacuated to be used as a nuclear bomb test site. Everyone is thrilled that Dogpatch has been picked out of the entire U.S.

and so it goes in the story line of Li’l Abner (musical).

who knows, you too may be worth ” A NUKE BOMB”.

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwqPBlSxb-0

      19. Old Guy, I hear you loud and clear. I would think all of those bunkers have some kind of air vents so the people underground can still breathe. That old movie “The Dirty Dozen” comes to mind.

        • Well if the air vents cant be located a drill rig could be used and a hole drilled and the interior be pumped full of gas diesel and LP and the set off with a Molotov cocktail? Or a few dozers and earthmovers used to seal up the entrance. what worries me is when those who have the capability of starting a nuclear war start believing that they can and will survive in their bunkers. That kind of thinking makes the possibility of nuke war all the more likely.

          • The flaw in your logic is of course the only reason for the elite to enter their bunkers of the rich and famous is to survive, because people on the outside will die rapidly without such a shelter.

So exactly who, is going to be alive to be sticking stuff down their air vents?

Give most healthy educated preppers 48 hours notice, and they will dig and stock a nuclear proof bunker. It may be a crude hole in the ground, but it can save your life.

Even just a crude shelter in a basement could save you. I have one corner of the basement with the kitchen above. A ceramic floor, granite countertops, cabinets full of dishes and pots and pans. Move some tables into that corner, reinforce them, and stack bricks, pavers from your walks and patios on top and in front until you have a foot or two of heavy mass.

      20. Iran and NK against us at the same time is what is really frightening. Thanks Trump. Wish I could take back my vote.

      21. If it does kick off I plan on watching as much of it as possible on Fox while consuming an expensive bottle of Blantons.

        • Blantons Bourbon, a single barrel bourbon.

      22. Acts 16:31
So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

      23. I’m screwed and so are so many people just like me. Overweight, out of shape, absolutely no survival skills, can’t even start a fire. Live paycheck to paycheck, barely making ends meet including being able to buy enough food to live on every two weeks so no extra money to buy anything to survive any sort of catastrophe such as freeze dried food, water purification tablets, gas masks, etc etc.
What really gets me though is some people mentioning praying. Pray to who? The god of the old testament that gets his jollies off of the pain and suffering of humans that he has from the very beginning? I’m glad I woke up and got away from organized religion especially Catholicism/Christianity as I now know those who commit suicide are doomed to hell for all eternity is a lie along with so many other lies coming from religions because in the event nuclear war breaks out then I will be taking my own life rather then suffer a slow, agonizing and painful death from any of all the possible outcomes of a nuclear attack.
I wish you all well and hope your preparedness does save you and yours but I just don’t see depending on prayer to a god that created and allowed so much misery to happen in the first place to be of any help.

        • ah, you blame God for the human condition.

mankind has had free choice since the beginning. just hasn’t chosen very well, now has he.

i too dumped “organized religion”. best thing God ever led me to do.

Yes, i plan on prayer, trusting in His Word, written and living.

if i do my part, i have His promise that He will do His.
          Counting on it.

      24. Newsweek Exclusive: North Korean Missile Claims Are ‘a Hoax
        http://www.newsweek.com/trump-north-korea-missiles-nuclear-scientists-649702

Postol is the guy who has debunked the government’s claims before, including the last Syrian chemical attack. I’m not familiar with the other two guys, but they sound like they know what they’re talking about.

In short, NK can NOT hit the continental United States with their missiles, and certainly not with them carrying nuclear warheads.

        Guam may be another matter.

China has said via one of its news outlets – but not officially – yet – that if NK attacks the US, it’s on its own. BUT if the US attacks NK with the goal of regime change, China WILL act to prevent that.

Which means the risk here isn’t NK, it’s China with its 200 nuclear warheads on missiles that CAN reach the US mainland.

        • Ok so what if NK cannot hit the contienent. WhatIf they hit guam. Them we hit them. And other places that have nukes and unstable leaders start letting theirs fly. Its a pandoras box.

          • They won’t hit Guam. They haven’t even said they intend to. They’ve said they intend to prove they CAN hit Guam by landing missiles within 50 miles of Guam. They may or may not do that. If the US attacks them, then of course they will try to hit Guam.

There are no other places with “unstable leaders and nukes”. India and Pakistan are not involved. Russia will not get involved. China WILL enter the war on NK’s side if it looks like NK is losing.

Frankly, I think the US will LOSE a war with NK. Even if the US and SK beat NK’s conventional forces, NK can start an insurgency with their 100,000+ Special Forces and what’s left of their million-man army that will make the Iraq and Afghanistan insurgencies look like a tea-party. No way the US wins that situation – completely impossible.

It’s even possible that Kim can win the war almost immediately. If he attacks as soon as the US starts sending carrier groups to SK and sending 150,000 more troops to SK, he can probably take Seoul before the US can seriously get in the game. If he controls Seoul, with its 10-million people, and controls the immediate countryside which holds 50 percent of the SK population, he can then set the terms for another armistice.

If he’s willing to take the casualties such an assault would entail, he could probably do it. And I’m quite sure he’s willing to take any amount of casualties as long as it gives him a shot at winning.

Any US attack on NK is going to be the biggest military disaster in US history.

Maybe that’s what the US public needs to start coming to their senses and restrain our war-crazy US politicians and military-industrial complex.

      25. Dear Kim Jong Un:
        Just you try it, FATSO!
        Love Zap USA

      26. Kim Jong Un has used the United States as a bogeyman to control the North Korean people. The American presidents before Trump did not deal with him. They preferred to leave the North Korea threat to their successors. Now he has the means to hit the continental United States. His missiles may not hit what he is aiming at but they will hit something. Actually, if you have a bug-out location located in the boonies, this means that you are at the same risk as someone who lives in a metropolitan area.

Blessed assurance! Jesus is mine! Alive or dead, I’ll be fine! I just don’t believe that this is the time. It is coming but not yet!

      27. To the best of my understanding, NK believes that their leader is some kind of supernatural being, born under double rainbows, on a magical mountain. Their propaganda portrays the people as gentle forest creatures. He chooses what is now a military installation and gives advance notice of his intentions.

Compare this to a cathedral, in Japan, when the pilots didn’t even know where they were headed.
