At the onset of the derivatives collapse in 2007/2008 it would have been easy to assume that most of America was receiving a valuable education in normalcy bias.
In 2006, the amount of ego on display surrounding mortgage investment was so disturbingly grotesque anyone with any true understanding of the situation felt like projectile vomiting. To watch the smug righteousness of MSNBC and FOX economic pundits as they predicted the infinite rise of American property markets despite all evidence to the contrary was truly mind blowing. When the whole system imploded, it was difficult to know whether one should laugh, or cry.
The saddest aspect of the credit crisis of 2008 was not the massive chain reaction of bankruptcies or the threat of institutional insolvency. Rather, it was the delusional assumptions of the public that the grand mortgage casino was going to go on forever. There is nothing worse than witnessing the victim of a Ponzi scheme defend the lie which has ultimately destroyed him. As much as I am for people waking up to the nature of the crisis, there comes a point when those who are going to figure it out will figure it out, and the rest are essentially hopeless.
The cultism surrounding the U.S. economy and the U.S. dollar is truly mind boggling, and by “cultism” I mean a blind faith in the fiat currency mechanism that goes beyond all logic, reason and evidence.
In recent weeks it has become more visible as global financiers play both sides of the Ukrainian conflict, luring Americans into a frenzy of false patriotism and an anti-Russo-sports-team-mentality. My personal distaste for Vladimir Putin revolves around my understanding that he is just as much a puppet of the International Monetary Fund and international banks as Barack Obama, but many Americans hate him simply because the mainstream media has designated him the next villain in the fantasy tale of U.S. foreign policy.
Open threats from Russia that they will dump U.S. treasury bond holdings and the dollar’s world reserve status if NATO interferes in the Ukraine have been met with wildly naive chest beating from dollar cultists. I am beginning to see the talking points everywhere.
“Let them dump the dollar, Russia’s holdings are minimal!” Or, “Let them throw out Treasuries, they’ll just be shooting themselves in the foot!” are the battle cries heard across the web. I wish I could convey how insane this viewpoint is, especially in light of the fact that many alternative economic analysts, including myself, have been predicting just such a scenario for years.
Despite the childish boastings of the dollar devout, there is an extraordinarily good possibility that the life of the greenback will be snuffed out in the near term. Here are the facts…
1) Russia will not be alone in its decouple from the dollar system. China, our largest foreign creditor, and India (a supposed ally) have clearly sided with Russia on the Ukranian issue. China has stated that it will back Russia’s play in the event that sanctions are brought to bear by NATO, or if a shooting conflict erupts.
2) China has already been slowly dumping the dollar as a world reserve currency using bilateral trade agreements with numerous countries, including Russia, India, Australia, Brazil, Germany, Japan, etc. These agreements allow FOREX currency swaps and export/import purchases to be made with China without the use of the dollar. China has been preparing itself for a divorce from U.S. economic dependence for at least a decade. The idea that they would actually follow through over political tensions should NOT surprise anyone if they have beenpaying attention.
3) A total drop of the dollar or U.S. treasury bonds by Russia and China would send shock waves through global markets. Russia is a major energy supplier for most of Europe. China is the largest export/import nation in the world. If they refuse to accept dollars as a trade mechanism, numerous countries will fall in line to abandon the greenback as well. The fact that so many Americans refuse to acknowledge this reality is a recipe for disaster.
The only advantage the U.S. has traditionally offered in terms of international trade has been the American consumer, whose unchecked debt spending partly fueled the rise of the industrialized East, not to mention the biggest credit bubble in history. The role of America as a consumer market is collapsing today, however. The mainstream media and the Federal Reserve can blame the steady decline in retail sales on the “weather” all they want, but negative indicators in global manufacturing often take many months to register in the statistics, meaning, this destabilization began long before the days turned cold.
4) China has been shifting away from export dependency since at least 2008, calling for a larger consumer based market at home. This process of enriching the Chinese consumer has almost been completed. The lie that China “needs the U.S.” in order to survive economically needs to be thrown out like the utter propaganda it is.
5) China (and most of the world) has ended new dollar purchases for their FOREX reserves, and has no plans to make new purchases in the future.
6) China executed the second largest dump of U.S. Treasury bonds in history in the past month.
7) Russia, China, and numerous other countries, including U.S. “allies”, have been calling for the end of the dollar’s world reserve status and the institution of a new global basket currencyusing the IMF’s Special Drawing Rights (SDR). Even Putin has suggested that the IMF take over administration of the global economy and issue the SDR as a world currency system. This flies in the face of those who argue that the IMF is somehow “American run”. The truth is, the IMF is run by global banks and no more answers to the U.S. government than the Federal Reserve answers to the U.S. government.
8) The Federal Reserve has been creating trillions of dollars in fiat just to prop up U.S. markets since 2008, and we are still seeing a considerable decline in global manufacturing, retail, personal home sales, and a general malaise in consumer demand. Without a full audit, there is no way to know exactly how much currency has been generated or how much is floating around in foreign markets. Any loss of world reserve status would send that flood of dollars back into the U.S., most likely ending in a hyperinflationary environment.
9) Another rather dubious argument I see often is the claim that the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Treasury could simply “negate” a Treasury dump by refusing to acknowledge creditor liabilities. Or, that they could simply print what they need to snap up the bonds, much like the German government tried to do during the Weimar collapse. Unfortunately, this plan did not work out so well for the Germans, nor has it worked for any other nation in history, so I’m not sure why people think the U.S. could pull it off. However, this is the kind of cultism we are surrounded by. These folks think the U.S. economy and the dollar are untouchable.
Yes, the Fed and the Treasury could hypothetically erase existing liabilities, but what dollar cultists do not seem to grasp is that the dollar’s value is not built on Treasury purchases. The dollar’s value is built on faith and reputation. If a nation refuses to pay out on its debts, this is called default. A default by the U.S. would immediately damage the reputation of bonds and dollars as a good investment. Global markets will refuse to purchase or hold any mechanism that they think will not earn them a profit. How many investors today are anxious to jump into Greek treasury bonds, for instance?
Finally, it is unwise to operate on the assumption that foreign creditors will accept dollars as payment on U.S. Treasury bonds if they believe the Federal Reserve is monetizing the debt. When Weimar imploded under the weight of currency devaluation, many foreign governments refused to accept the German mark as payment. Instead, they demanded payment in raw commodities, like coal, lumber and ore. Expect that China and other debt holders will demand payment in U.S. goods, infrastructure, or perhaps even land.
10) Most treasury holdings in foreign coffers are not long term bonds. Rather, they are short term bonds which mature in weeks or months, instead of years. Dollar proponents constantly cite the continued accumulation of treasury bonds by other governments as a sign that the dollar is still desirable as ever. Unfortunately, they have failed to look at the nature of these bond purchases. When China rolls over millions in short term bonds and replaces them with other short term bonds, this does not suggest they have much faith in America’s long term ability to service its debt. It would also make sense that if China had plans to remove itself from the dollar system, they would move into short term bonds which can be liquidated quickly.
11) China is on the fast track to becoming the largest holder of physical gold in the world. Russia has also greatly expanded its gold purchases. Whatever losses they might suffer from a dump of their Treasury bond investments; it will be more than made up in the incredible explosion in precious metals prices that would follow.
12) The most common argument against the dollar losing world reserve status has been that such a shift would be “impossible” because no other currency in the world has the adequate liquidity needed to replace the dollar in global trade. These people have apparently not been paying attention to the Chinese yuan. China has been quietly issuing trillions in yuan denominated bonds, securities and currency around the world. Current estimates calculate around $24 trillion created by the PBOC and the banks under its control.
Mainstream talking heads are calling this a “debt bubble.” However, this debt creation makes perfect sense if China’s plan is to create enough liquidity in its currency in order to offer a viable alternative to the U.S. dollar. Linking the yuan to the IMF’s basket currency would complete the picture, forming a perfect dollar replacement while dollar cheerleading-economists stand dumbstruck.
13) China’s retreat away from dollar denominated investments has left a hole in the U.S. bond market. Recently, that negative space was filled by an unexpected source; namely Belgium. A country whose GDP represents less than 1% of total global GDP buying more U.S. bonds than China? The whole concept sounds bizarre. Here is the capital coming from?
Think about it this way – Belgium is the political center of the European Union and a haven for international financiers. There are more corporate cronies, lobbyists, bureaucrats, and foreign dignitaries in Belgium than in all of Washington D.C. But more importantly, Belgium struck a deal with the IMF in 2012 to begin pumping SDR denominated funds into “low income economies”. I would suggest that this funding flows both ways, and that now, the IMF is feeding capital into Belgium in order to buy U.S. Treasury Bonds. That is to say, the IMF is going to start using smaller member countries with limited savings as proxies to purchase U.S. debt using IMF money.
The ultimate danger of the IMF (run by internationalists, not the U.S. government) pre-positioning itself as the primary buyer of U.S. debt is that when the U.S. finally defaults (and it will), the IMF is likely to become the “guardian angel” of the U.S. economy, offering aid in exchange for total administrative control of our financial system, and the institution of the SDR as a world reserve replacement for the dollar.
14) The serious prospect of regional conflict or world war over tensions between the Ukraine and Russia, Japan and China, the U.S. and Syria, the U.S. and Iran, the U.S. and North Korea, etc., could make the effort of exposing the plan to shift economic power into a one world system centralized under the IMF almost meaningless. How many people will truly care about the financial power grab by banking elites if it drifts under the surface of catastrophic engineered wars? They’ll be too busy hating and fighting artificially created boogeymen to pay attention to the real globalist culprits.
I have been pointing out for quite a long time that globalists need a “cover event”; a disaster, an economic war or a shooting war, in order to provide a smokescreen for the collapse of the dollar. Alternative analysts have been consistently correct in predicting the trend towards the dump of the dollar. Years ago, we were laughed at for suggesting China would shift towards a consumer based economy and away from U.S. dependence. Today, it is mainstream news. We were laughed at for suggesting that nations like Russia and China would drop the dollar as a reserve currency. Today, they are already in the process of doing it. And, we were laughed at for suggesting that Russia or China would use their debt holdings as leverage against the U.S. in the event of a geopolitical conflict. Today, they are openly making threats.
I have to say, I’ve grown tired of the dollar cultists. How many times can a group of people be wrong and still argue with those who have been consistently right? The answer is that zealots never actually escape their own delusions, even when their delusions lead them and those around them to ruin. I suspect that in the face of complete dollar collapse, they will still be rationalizing the chaos and pontificating on our “lack of understanding” while the theater burns down around them.

Point No 9: The FED is under NO OBLIGATION to repurchase bonds before maturity. Period. The US is NOT repudiating any of its debt, but it is refinancing its debt; especially through short term issues at lower rates as other debt matures. That’s no different than a consumer refinancing his house at a lower rate.
The last I looked US Debt / GDP ratio was about 105% and DECLINING; lower than most nations in the West except Germany. After WW II America’s debt /GDP ratio was 125%, so WE are well within acceptable parameters. Cyprus had a debt to GDP ratio of over 400% when it defaulted and it was not using the WRC dollar but the euro when it happened.
Only the Retards have threatened to use American debt and default as a political weapon. Not gonna happen. There are unique but ingenious ways to skirt that issue if the Retards make that mistake.

There is no longer a need for China to purchase US bonds. The transfer of the wealth of the American Middle Class has ended. China must stand on its own. There is no “hole” in the bond market. The FED can purchase ALL US Bonds and I wish they would. Then WE audit the FED, audit the gold, indict the GB’s, and then hang ’em.

1. The dollar is the currency of the New World Order and any collapse would have to be intentional. They will not destroy the instrument of their wealth and power.
2. It is the weapon of choice as they spread their wars of crony capitalism around the world.
3. China is a full and Senior Financial Partner with the GB’s.
4. The NWO does not need any particular nation to be successful. It has reached critical mass and it is absorbing smaller economies like a sponge.
5. Membership has its privileges. Those without membership will be on the outside looking in and salivating to get in.
6. Members who do not play by the Rules will be punished.

It is the intention of the NWO that the Yuan become a WRC like the Euro or Dollar. or Swiss Franc, the Aussie, etc. To become a WRC it must be fully convertible, fungible, and generally accepted. It is moving in that direction by design, but has a ways to go before that happens. Their bilateral trade in their own currency is a natural development for the number two trading world economy.

As the primary “dollar cultist” on this site I will respond to Brandon point by point. One comment at a time.
Point No 1: Anyone who understands the events in Crimea understands that Russia is well within its rights to protect its interests and the Russian speaking majority from an Ultra nationalist, who once in office, abrogated the rights of the Russian speaking majority without due process or the support even of Ukrainian speaking citizens.
I pointed this out immediately in my original comments.
The events in Ukraine were put in motion by the NWO hoping to extend their hegemony eastward, eventually aiming at Russia once Putin leaves the scene, one way or another.
The NWO will continue to push, just as they do here in America, until they meet resistance. If you cop out and drop out as some here have suggested, you encourage their advance. That said, the dollar is not going to “disappear”.

Hey Walt! Counterfeit dollars have been used in transactions both here and abroad. Even Mickey D’s is checking Fives for the embedded strip in Arizona.
So the counterfeit dollar is valuable to those that use them, if they can pass them. Current dollars are pretty sophisticated so it takes the resources of a rogue state with the right presses and special technology to produce them. At least to produce good copies.

Walt, I can put 10,000 FRN Five Dollar notes into circulation by going to my bank and withdrawing $50,000, and spending them. The economy is stimulated, hopefully, and everyone accepts the notes because they are trusted.
Or, I can print up 10,000 counterfeit Fivers and put them into circulation by spending them. The only beneficiary is me, who will get the goods purchased with the notes. Everyone who accepted a counterfeit Five has lost his goods to sell, and has nothing to show for his labor or his investment. The economy has just taken a hit, and no one will trust any Five Dollar bills for a good while.
Now, let’s assume those 10,000 notes are ‘perfect’, as you mention, and no one ever finds it out that they are bogus. That’s not possible, they have serial numbers that can be checked, and the paper is still not able to be faked. Even so, if perfect, all I have done is inflate the local economy with money and driven up demand and prices for the goods I’ve selected to buy.

What you don’t seem to grasp, Durango, is that the dollar is nothing but an expendable currency mechanism to the elite. The “solution” Durango offers is to allow the fed to continue monetizing U.S. debt and then “audit them”, and then hang them. This is a very naive way of thinking.

I was wondering, if a country (like the U.S.) knew that they were going to default and they wanted to at least SEEM like their loans would be “secured”, would it make sense to pass laws, or several EO’s, that transfers literally EVERY resource in the country to the control of the govt? The govt definition of “emergency” is pretty vague, and could include a debt default.
That would mean that, should the IMF feel the need to come and collect on an outstanding U.S. loan, there would be plenty of “collateral” to choose from?

The reason bond yields are so low is that the FED wants the thousands of businesses worldwide who stash their cash in US Bonds to seek higher yields by investing their funds in new plant and equipment to stimulate the global economy.

With a gold or silver coin, it is IMPOSSIBLE to create an exact duplicate with anything other than REAL gold or silver.
Why?
Because nothing else on the planet has the exact same atomic weight. A gold or silver coin of a specified dimension and purity will ALWAYS have a specific weight. That’s how you verify its authenticity.
Also…..when you counterfeit a gold or silver coin….there is REAL theft taking place..since you have substituted something of value for something of lesser or NO value.
The same argument can not be made in regard to fiat dollars, since they represent NO INTRINSIC VALUE. They possess no value beyond that ascribed to them by the party who made them, or those who agree to agree to that value. That’s why they are fiat (latin: Let it be so)

That’s because the effective yield on short term bonds is higher than on long term bonds so it only makes sense. This is intentional by the FED to induce companies to seek higher yields in more risky investments and stimulate the global economy.
Other nations, multinationals, and tens of thousands of companies around the world stash their cash in US short term treasuries when they are not using them because there is a DEEP and ready market for these securities when they need cash. 2, Counterfeit script damages the value of authorized script when it is printed en mass as the Allies did to Germany and then dropped them into the country.
If I slip the kid at the counter of Mickey D’s a bogus five for a cup of coffee, I get a free drink and the owner of the business was not compensated for his product and service if his bank discovers it as it is deposited.
Enough bogus bills could generate a loss for his insurance company and an increase in his rate.

RESPONSE: Not true. Another Chicken Little who does not understand what is happening. With all of the “printing” why is there no hyperinflation NOW after five years of printing? I ran 15 major markets for a major bank that is still standing, developed shopping centers, sold $100 million in MBS to Wall Street, and now own a gold and platinum mine, of which, there are only six others like in North America.

I’ve thought about the gold/silver thing along time. My wife and I have metals (including lead). We bought most of it 8 years ago when my wife decided we needed to tighten the belts and start preparing for the uncertain future. Smart move on her part and mine for listening. For once… Not sure what the answer is for metals in the future. Most of what we bought are tenth oz gold eagles. In todays market they were cheap. We figured that would be the best way to keep it simple if we did indeed need to barter or trade. If I never use it then I guess my kids can share it. Same thing with silver.
I’m enjoying the blue sky over on this side. Spent the day building up a kitchen counter top. Laminate tomorrow and Friday. Haven’t done laminate in awhile. Hope I don’t have to do it again very soon.

When the dollar no longer is the world’s reserve currency, you will still be able to use it (Just like the Germans in Wiemar Germany still used their Marks), it will just take a wheelbarrow load of them to buy that Big Mac…..or it may just require the ENTIRE BALANCE on your EBT card to buy it.
Those who hold PM’s will be able to exchange them for whatever currency is accepted at the time.

Several years ago, an old family friend passed away. He was a US Army private during WW-II, whose entire company was captured by troopers of the 1st SS/LAH panzer division, not far from Elsenborn, Belgium.
The weather was cold in the extreme & the SS guards providing security(outdoors) prior to an expected prisoner transfer to the rear..supplied several empty oil drums filled w/ wood for heat to comfort said prisoners, who crowded around them.

Hamburg, Katyn, Bergen-Belsen
The mass graves of Hamburg, Katyn and Bergen-Belsen demonstrate how great the area requirements are for mass graves. Due to the area required for the excavated material, which in realistic terms is much greater than the theoretical minimum areas calculated in Table 1, 10,000 bodies need at least 4,000m2 (43,000 sq.ft.). Treblinka Mass graves for the alleged 700,000 to 1.2 million victims of this camp would have required 40 times as much space as the witnesses state was available. The ground in the camp area shows no traces of former building foundations, large mass graves or burning pits.
Sobibor, Belzec, Majdanek
As in the case of Treblinka, it would have been impossible in Majdanek or Belzec to keep any mass murder secret; the close proximity of settlements and roads, and the cultivation of surrounding farm land right up to the camp fences, saw to that. In no case is there any evidence for mass graves or burning pits. Babi Yar The ravine of Babi Yar underwent no noticeable changes in topography or vegetation up to the end of the War. There are no signs of human intervention during the time of German occupation. There was no human activity there at the time of the mass cremations attested to by the witnesses.
Auschwitz-Birkenau
The few air photos of Auschwitz-Birkenau known to date from the period of December 1943 to February 1945 show no signs of fuel depots, smoke from chimneys or open fires, burning pits or pyres. The photos were altered: Zyklon B input hatches, groups of inmates, and walls around crematoria were retouched onto the photo negatives. Insofar as they still exist, photos of good quality are being kept from the public. One must assume that any actual mass murder activities would not have escaped the notice of the air photo interpreters. This would have resulted in the bombing of the camp – which, however, was carefully refrained from.
The Bottom Line
To this day there is no air photo evidence to support the alleged mass murder of the Jews at any location in Europe occupied by the Germans during World War Two. Further, air photo analysis refutes the claim that the Nazis had intended, at whatever time, to keep events in the alleged extermination camps secret. In many cases the air photos provide clear proof that some of the events attested to by witnesses, such as the destruction of the Hungarian Jews or the mass executions at Babi Yar, did not in fact take place. We may hope that the release of Soviet air photos dating from the time the camps were in operation will shed further light on these issues. The fact that these photos have not been published to date may already speak for itself. That the photos in Western hands were altered in order to incriminate Germany, and were first published by the CIA, is also very significant indeed.

Brave; Why do you want a scope on an M1 Carbine? I have one, I like it; but it’s a pistol bullet on a longer barrel. My eyes aren’t that good anymore, but at any distance I’d want an M1, I don’t need a scope. An M1 is a fine rifle for 100 yds or so, and for most things that’s all you need. Put a scope on 30-06 or 308, carbine is for close in fast firepower.
Eh,custom loads might stretch the distance,hell,have a scope on the new crossbow(came with it)and lets be real,good to at best 60 yards.I did just realize,I might want the crossbow in a bad situation,and as with anything,want back up(for lack of better word in this case)iron sites/their equivalent.

You might want to check into a hand guard with a weaver type rail. Ultimak, F.S. scout mount, UTG Tactical just to name a few. I’m looking at putting a dot type sight on one of mine. What is nice about these is you still keep your regular sights.

BH, if that M1 Carbine is a WWII issue with matching parts, don’t put a scope on it or anything else. You’ll lose a lot of dollars in value.
They’re good weapons out to about 150-200 yards, but not tack drivers. Not sure if a scope is really going to gain you anything.
A Mini-14 or -30 would be a good choice for a scoped semiauto.

I love the mini’s but have read many times if not cleaned daily out in the real rough do not stand up long term without a total strip down,what are your thoughts/experience with the 15-30’s
You have to keep any semiauto rifle clean, but I’ve not had a problem with the Mini-14. Keep the bolt oiled, that’s the moving part, and use good-quality magazines and ammo.
For really rough duty, I think you want to consider a military design, like the AR, FAL, HK, that kind of platform.

Why do I Prep? Three reasons. 1. I believe like you do (most of you anyway), that the economy and really our culture is eroding faster and faster and is not going to get better, period. 2. The US worth while declining is still huge. This is why the economy by itself will not collapse in our life time. Even a depression as bad as that is, is not a WROL economic collapse. Our dollar will never become worthless, but it will continue to be worth less.
I am beginning to believe that prepping should be thought of in three phases. 1. Get prepared and build your preps to some level of confidence. 2. Have a long term maintenance plan meaning the rest of your active life. 3. Have a plan for passing on your preps to those you care for (and that you hope will maintain them).
Lastly if there is a super volcano, or large meteor impact, or nuclear exchange, then it has been fun, but in the words of the Rolling Stones “It’s all over now”.

RESPONSE: WRONG!!! The FED is ending the Taper because it has purchased most of the toxic securities from the Member banks and because Investors are fleeing the risk of Emerging Markets to US Equities and bonds. These new dollars allow the FED to taper without disrupting the markets and move back toward “normalcy”.
While the US taxpayer is always on the hook for US Government debt, the IMF was created to provide capital to emerging markets. The USA is a founding member of the IMF it has never used the capital produced (SDR’s) by the basket of currencies; on the contrary, American dollars have always provided cash to the loan pool for developing nations, and for Europe during the CRASH of 2008/2009. The USA has never needed a loan from the IMF.
The reason the FED has never needed a loan from the IMF is because the FED is the perfect Ponzi scheme and the Gb’s have the ability to print and loan all of OUR money they want. IE during the Crisis the FED loaned $16 trillion USD to multinationals, prime dealers, and EUROPE to solve its liquidity crisis.

And someday it might be an alternative to the dollar, but there are less than $300 billion USD worth of SDR’s in existence; so I would bet on the Yuan first, because while every country likes to spend (OPM) particularly their own taxpayers funds, the G-20 is not likely to fund $500 trillion USD worth of SDR’s backed by their currency and let the likes of Lagarde and other bureaucrats spend it.

There has never been any currency that does not have a weak spot. There are countless scenarios that are not that severe that could collapse the U.S. dollar. Money is simple. It is what is used to exchange for something that someone needs. There are people in this country and other countries that live totally on trade off something they have to someone that needs it and then they get what they need. Call it barter, whatever, there are people that just don’t deal with any type of currency.
If enough people say, no more dollar, it means no more dollar. Money is really nothing but air backed up by the promise of people that it has worth.

Too shattered to play his usual role in this familiar ritual, he poured himself a shot of whiskey and headed off for a long hot soak
in the bathtub, pursued by the predictable sarcastic remarks as he dragged himself up the stairs.
While he was in the bath, the phone rang. The wife answered and was told that her husband’s client, James Wright, had been granted a
stay of execution after all. Wright would not be hanged tonight.
Finally realizing what a terrible day he must have had, she decided to go up stairs and give him the good news.
As she opened the bathroom door, she was greeted by the sight of her husband, bent over naked, drying his legs and feet.
