reasons-to-prepare-2Most people prepare based on their understanding of the emergencies that are most likely to affect them. Unfortunately, most of society feels that natural disasters are the only type of scenario they should prepare for. This misconception sets many up for the possibility of falling victim to the other types of emergencies that are out there. After years of researching and living a preparedness lifestyle, I can tell you that many factors can create challenges to how prepared you should be, and Mother Nature is only one of them.

When I wrote The Prepper’s Blueprint: The Step-By-Step Guide To Help You Through Any Disaster, I emphasized the importance of having a well-rounded preparedness plan that encompasses many different types of emergency scenarios. This essential survival guide stresses how important is to have an understanding of rudimentary skills and tools, and to recognize how important it is to look at past events that have crippled our society so that you can learn from them and become more prepared.

    An Era of Total Unpredictability

If there is one thing we can say about our current economic, financial, social and political climate it’s that we have entered an era in human history of total unpredictability. Climate change, economic uncertainty, food inflation and an ever-increasing unemployment rate have created a devastating unpredictable chain of events, causing us all to tighten our budgets and pray for the best. The Prepper’s Blueprint focuses on the importance of keeping a vigilant watch for potential hazards that are in our field of vision. The only way to change how severely these types of debacles can affect us is by recognizing them for what they are and preparing for them beforehand. Some future events looming on the horizon are:

    1. Climate change – We have all witnessed the super storms, the tsunamis, and the widespread droughts that have been relentlessly battering America. Some are blaming harmful emissions and pollutants, while others feel it is from forced geopolitical warfare. Either way, the shift in our climate has created a food crises where food prices are rising dramatically due to shortages.
    2. Economic uncertainty – The Great Recession is acknowledged as the most devastating global economic crisis since the Great Depression. Unemployment, prolonged economic stagnation and price inflation are issues that can strike at the very core of a family’s stability. The sluggish economy caused many to quickly adapt to tighter budgets and now have less savings to fall back on. Naturally when this occurs, people become concerned with their family’s wellbeing and they want to protect themselves from the outcome.
    3. Epidemics – We are witnessing an unparalleled rise in infectious diseases. Many of these epidemics can be caused from poor sanitary conditions following natural disasters, such as the cholera epidemic that occurred shortly after the Haitian earthquake in 2010. According to WHO, the number of weather-related natural emergencies has more than tripled since the 1960s. When there is a sharp rise in severe weather-related events, there is also an increase in infectious diseases. Further, due to the increased consumption of unhealthy commodities such as junk food, soda, alcohol and tobacco, health-related epidemics are becoming an issue of concern.
    4. Political upheaval – Due to the political polarization in Washington, any form of progress has come to a screeching halt. To make matters worse, laws are being put into effect that take away the rights that have made America great. This is causing many issues with the political structure and if things don’t change, will cause this political upheaval to worsen.
    5. Societal downturns  Our society is in at a critical point. Social media and “reality” television have dumbed down our children resulting in a lack of discipline and an inability to focus on making responsible choices. Further, because of the need for two paychecks in order for households to pay the bills, the absence of parents present in the home are causing children to be left alone more frequently. This is causing a sharp increase in delinquency, teen pregnancy, lack of morals and low interest in education. The result is mob attacks, bullying, young single mothers and these things are causing our society to plummet.

Many believe these issues are the perfect recipe for catastrophe. While we can theorize about what may or may not happen, we need to understand that we are operating on limited information. Logically speaking, the best way to prepare for the unpredictable nature of these types of scenarios is by getting ready for them and making preparations ahead of time.

The following are ways to prepare for these erratic disasters:

    • Create a food pantry. Creating a food supply is very beneficial to your budget. It is an investment into your future livelihood. One thing analysts and financial pundits agree on is that, in general, commodities will continue to rise. When others are buying foods at inflated prices, you will be consuming your investment when it was purchased at a lower price. Using a combination of shelf stable foods, you can create a well-rounded food supply to depend on when an emergency arises.
    • Simplifying your lifestyle. Before you begin investing, take steps to get out of debt. Debt only enslaves you further, and simplifying your lifestyle can help break those shackles. Learn about these 6 ways to simplify your lifestyle.
    • Preserve your wealth. Choose hard assets (dry goods, precious metals, land, livestock, skills, etc.) for long term investments so they will hold their intrinsic value over time. Holding these types of investments will insulate you from inflation and other economic issues. Further, by tying your money up in assets it will help you avoid spending the money, thus furthering your cause of self-reliant living.
    • Become a neo-pioneer! Carve a path in your life where you are no longer dependent on consuming at stores to live. Garden and grow your own food, raise livestock, learn skills to live self-reliantly, barter for goods and services.

    Which Choice Will You Make?

There are many potential events approaching in the distance that can throw us off course. We have two choices: 1. Ignore them and hope they change course, or, 2. Prepare for them the best we can. The bottom line is, there is no safety net for us to fall into when an emergency occurs. How easily you land depends on how insulated you were from the disaster to begin with. Which choice will you make?

      1. You lost me at : Climate Change . You mean: Bad weather?

        • I think Tess is referring to climate related events such as the Depression era dust bowl and things like the current west-coast drought which is reportedly one of the worst in the last half decade…

I know the Left often utilizes climate change to push forth an agenda of restricting access to public lands and imposing cap & trade taxes, but from a preparedness standpoint it’s a realistic concern.

Personally I couldn’t care less about the cause (I lean toward the theory of naturally occurring cycles). What’s important is that we’re aware that significant climate change over a multi-year period could cause serious problems. Many a civilization has fallen, or at least been nearly wiped out, because of such events.

          • Personally I think it is all going to collapse so Ive been preparing and living the post collapse lifestyle for the last 10 years. There is not really much that can affect me these days besides a meteor landing on top of me…

            • The best way to prepare is spiritually. I am not saying do not prep in other ways. But the starting point should be to get your salvation worked out through The Bible and Jesus Christ. This will help you tremendously as things get worse.

              • Hi Miggy, I think the spiritual aspect of “Total Unpredictable” cannot be over-stated. Children can watch hard-core porn on the Internet from a tablet computer today. It is totally allowed by the FCC and others. Companies have had laws passed to prevent competition, period. Even basic rights are being ignored as if the laws do not even exist. What is next? I think the slide into unpredictability is predicated on the end of ethics and the elimination of good people. I see it everywhere. Is everything a lie? Even the World Cup match today was apparently rigged. It gets to the point one expects outcomes to be based not on actions but on behind the scene controlling hands. Everything is appearances.

                • RE: Prepping. OK Imagine you are living in Iraq today and your city is being run over by a rogue faction or foreign troops. Word is out that they are be-heading people, and you and your family must flee. So is your Bug-Out bag loaded and ready to go. Bugout vehicle? Alternative methods of transportation such as a bicycle? Do you have aback up place to go away from the conflict? Do you have water and water filtration methods in place? Are you armed and preparing to fight? What about your communications Ham Radio to get the up to date news? Are you prepared or will you and your family be a refuges on the road with the hoards, begging for food, water and shelter? This is exactly what hundreds of thousands of civilians are doing today in Iraq, fleeing bullets and genocide. Either prepare to live or prepare to die.

          • I’ve always had a prepper outlook and mindset,
it has run in my families for generations.

What I don’t know if I’m prepared for is all
the people out there that will be unprepared.

            • One other reason for preparing is the black swan syndrome. The totally unexpected seems to hit all people the hardest. Even the most seasoned prepper/survivalist can be totally shocked at some bizarre event that occurs all of a sudden. The deer staring in the headlights is something that can nail all of us. It is how long we react to that WEIRD SHTF episode and how well we keep our heads on straight is how well any of us will deal with it.

Each one of us should continue that possibility of something that can knock all of our senses off balance. We should all think about what would any of us do if there was an event or series of events that few or none of us ever thought possible or just never thought of period. The world is topsy-turvy right now and the odds of a black swan catastrophe happening is probably at one of the highest peaks ever experienced.

              • Be Informed > Good afternoon, sir. I think that we’re looking at a “black swan” event right now – Iraq. The price of oil is going up due to the speculators, and that’ll hit prices on the shelves in the near / far future. I know, off topic.
                Be well.
                Cat

                • It’s about to be ‘black pterodactyl’ time.

                  • I have a house in a sort of make shift subdivision that had a homeowners association many years ago. I have some chickens at that house and have been getting a hard time from some of the other home owners about them. These people have been changing their tune lately and have started coming around asking how to raise chickens themselves. They have started seeing the writing on the walls and are starting to do a little prepping themselves.

                  • Same thing going on around here too, Ed.

                  • Guys it’s not just the price of oil , this could very well be ” The Black Swan” that BI refers to
Iran is currently sending military advisers into Iraq , all this is ocuring because of the Libyan Arms that were sent to Syria to aid the rebels , arming Alqada is not a wise decision that will come back to haunt us . Be prepared for this to go global , oil problems , unrest in the EU when the Israel goes after Iran which could occur at any time. An oil shock is something we do not need affecting this economy at this point .
We are on the precipice , It could go in a instant , it’s a combination of small events aligning in a perfect storm that will cause the event , anything can happen with little or no warning .
Just to throw something else into the mix. We may lose cell phone connectivity later today when the CME encounters earth magnetosphere , HF and VHF and SATCOM commo at work was acting up as early as yesterday , we were informed this may be worse today with possible power and data outages ,
The MSM is lying about the size of the flare it was not an X1 , it was an X8 !
Steady as she goes guys keep your head on a swivel. It could get dicy latter today in the PM hours.

                    Semper Fi 8541

              • BI, once again, right on target. I’ve had a prepper mindset and outlook myself since my wife was alive. Ever since that time, I have always been prepared for one personal SHF event after another and I made it through all of them 100% alive BECAUSE I WAS PREPARED. I live in the real world. I know what’s really going on and out here and I take certain actions to prepare for such things. I’M NOT A SHEEPLE AND REFUSE TO BE. I TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY OWN WELL-BEING. I REFUSE TO DEPEND ON GOVERNMENT OR ANYTHING/ANYONE ELSE FOR MY WELL-BEING. Every personal SHTF event I’ve ever had I never went around crying, ‘WHERE’S THE GOVERNMENT? I NEED HELP!’ I bounced back from it, rolled up my sleeves, and went to work on the problem myself. I came out of each one of those events in good condition BECAUSE I PREPPED. Any and all survival supplies I’ve ever had I buy out of my own pocket. Never depended on anyone’s tax dollars for anything! Example: In Sept. 1982 I was living in a trailer park. I had only just moved into it a week before the crappy trailer I was in had an electrical fire and I got burned out of it. Yes, braveheart became homeless BUT ONLY TEMPORARY. I had a 1972 Dodge utility van I had brought back with me from FL earlier in the year plus I had not moved all of my belongings into that trailer at the time of the fire so I wasn’t in too bad shape all things considered. I slept in a sleeping bag inside of that old van for 2 weeks before I had enough money to get into another place and that wasn’t a damned trailer either. I learned a valuable lesson from that event; NO MORE TRAILERS FOR BRAVEHEART. That 2 weeks sleeping in that van wasn’t a picnic, but I survived it. At least I had some kind of shelter. That old van was definitely better than nothing. It saved my ass. The best part was I still managed to keep my head on straight and not lose my wits so to this day I’m still proud of the way I handled that situation. Any SHEEPLE in such a situation today would be crying, “Where’s the government? I need help!” Yes, BI, it is so tragic what the people of this nation have turned into. When the balloon finally goes up, we preppers will still be around and standing tall. It’s not going to end well for SHEEPLE.

                • @ braveheart. I don’t totally blame the sheeple as much as I blame the deception of the government and the way the government has totally thrown Americans under the bus. Back in the 1950’s and 1960’s people were encouraged to prepare, not just for nuclear war, but ALL emergencies. Somewhere along the line the government stopped encouraging people to be ready, losing what makes a country strong, THE PEOPLE.

Many people find it is more profitable to be on state aid than actually do anything. This is 100% blame on the government for not making working way more profitable. Of course this is the plan, make people as dependable on the state as possible and gets your votes that you need to get elected. Sell your country out to get into office and sell out the U.S. to the enemy, namely China. Then make people that support the foundations of this country the enemy, calling them domestic terrorists because they want to support America for what it really should stand for, freedom. Sure has changed since I was a kid, for the much worst.

                  • Be Informed, I grew up during the 1960s and I remember all too well the government’s emphasis on preparing for all types of emergencies, including nuclear war. In October of 1962, my older brother helped our Dad build a bomb shelter in our basement because some Russian lunatic named Nikita Khruschev provided Fidel Castro with a dozen nuclear-armed missiles to use against us. I was only 5 YEARS OLD at the time, but I remember it like it was yesterday. After the bomb shelter was finished it was stocked with food, water, medical supplies, etc. That was my very first contact with what we call prepping today and it left an impression on my very young mind. It’s so shocking and sad how much we as a nation have changed since those days. I, just like everyone else here, find it so alarming how many people have been brainwashed into depending on government [i.e., OUR TAX MONEY] to live on instead of pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps and taking responsibility for their own well-being. That will be only one part of the downfall of this once-great land.

                  • My friend BI…..I do respect your calls, but how can you call China “the enemy”.
China has bankrolled the US for over 20 yrs.
The enemy is your FEDERAL RESERVE, the media that make a Kardashian more important than and Helen Caldicot (“Who”? Say 99.999% of Americans), and a belief that the US IS THE “Indispensable Nation”.
What say you, my wise friend?
                    Peace.

                • James Hansen has been publicly speaking about climate change since 1988. The NASA climatologist testified to Congress that year and he’s been testifying ever since to crowds large and small, most recently to a small gathering of religious leaders outside the White House last week. The grandfatherly scientist has the long face of a man used to seeing bad news in the numbers and speaks with the thick, even cadence of the northern Midwest, where he grew up, a trait that also helps ensure that his sometimes convoluted science gets across.

This cautious man has also been arrested multiple times.

His acts of civil disobedience started in 2009, and he was first arrested in 2011 for protesting the development of Canada’s tar sands and, especially, the Keystone XL pipeline proposal that would serve to open the spigot for such oil even wider. “To avoid passing tipping points, such as initiation of the collapse of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, we need to limit the climate forcing severely. It’s still possible to do that, if we phase down carbon emissions rapidly, but that means moving expeditiously to clean energies of the future,” he explains. “Moving to tar sands, one of the dirtiest, most carbon-intensive fuels on the planet, is a step in exactly the opposite direction, indicating either that governments don’t understand the situation or that they just don’t give a damn.”

He adds: “People who care should draw the line.”

                  • Its from Scientific American, titled, “How much will the Sand Oil add to Global Warming?”

In this article, he talks about what the carbon tax is really about– taxing the point of entry (companies), not us citizens!

                  • THIS IS WHAT CLIMATE SCIENTISTS ARE ACTUALLY SUGGESTING– it has nothing to do with taxing citizens!! (right wing propaganda).

                    Price of carbon
A true price on carbon, one that incorporates all the damages that could be inflicted by catastrophic climate change, is exactly what Hansen believes is needed to ensure that more fossil fuels, like the tar sands, stay buried. In his preferred scheme, a price on carbon that slowly ratcheted up would be collected either where the fossil fuel comes out of the ground or enters a given country, such as at a port. But instead of that tax filling government coffers, the collected revenue should be rebated in full to all legal residents in equal amounts—an approach he calls fee and dividend. “Not one penny to reducing the national debt or off-setting some other tax,” the government scientist argues. “Those are euphemisms for giving the money to government, allowing them to spend more.”

                  • THE CARBON TAX IS ABOUT GIVING TO US CITIZENS- NOT TAKING FROM US! LOOK AT WHAT IT SAYS– I’VE READ IT NUMEROUS TIMES IN DIFFERENT BOOKS, LITERATURE! The fossil fuel industry spends millions of dollars each year to spread dis-information, to delude the public and unfortunately, its working– same damn trick the cigarette companies used to convince the public the science was undecided about the effects of cigarette smoke.

THE FOSSIL FUEL INDUSTRY isn’t about to have their billion dollars per day indusry taken down and they do what they have to do to survive: LIE!

                  • You can’t seriously be condoning new taxes, can you?
Even if they are aimed only at companies (yeah right), they’ll force overall prices even higher.

                    NO NEW TAXES!
                    REDUCE GOVERNMENT, NOT ENLARGE IT!

                • back in ’98, i went through divorce and had to leave my daughter behind. after having just spent 6 years on second shift and having most of the day to take care of her or help out in her classrooms for project time, i couldn’t stand the silence of a house. i didn’t last one evening in a friends house. i got my pup tent and set it up in the woods behind the place where i worked. That was the second week of October in Maine. I slept in that tent until Christmas Eve. I bought 2″ styrofoam panels and lined the inside of the tent. Just crawling inside the tent in the evening you felt a sudden warmth because of the elimination of heat loss by radiation to the cold surroundings. I never slept better. It was like going into a coma every night. Those 3 months gave me a chance to let mother nature clear my head. In 2004, my daughter came to live with me. We could never be closer than we are.

              • Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

                James 2:18

But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

My most important prep is my faith in God, he will open doors for true believers who live the way the Lord intended. If you don’t have the ability to prepare the way the article suggested, do not worry or fret unnecessarily, your belief in God will show you the way, when the time is right. God speed.

                • That prepares you for eternity but it doesn’t keep you alive during the collapse. I’m a Born Again Christian too but I’m preparing because I don’t want to starve to death after the collapse.

                  • Barn Cat,

I wrote “if you don’t have the ability” God will show you the way. For me it was pretty clear, your belief in God will open doors so that you may have the ability to prepare. Why do you have to put a damper on inspirational thinking?

Also, isn’t a life in eternity what we should all strive for? Life on this planet is nothing but a tiny speck in time, it is what we do with that time that will determine our final fate.

Yes prepare what you can but do not despair if you can not in the way that the article suggested, have faith because in the darkest of times God will give you comfort and show you the way. God speed.

                    Tex has it right.

                  • Barn Cat,

Since you are a born again Christian, here are some quotes from the Holy Bible. I hope it explains what I was trying to convey.

                    Philippians 4:19

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

                    Matthew 6:33

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

                    1 John 2:15-17

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

                    Malachi 3:10

Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.

                  • Grab your Bible and cram for the final. The funny thing about Christinanity is that they promise you ever lasting life, but then want you to donate all your wealth and estate to the Church upon your death. Ever play connect the dots Skippy? Its all a scam to fleece the gullible flock. Thanks for playing!! Next!!!!

                • God doesn’t choose the prepared, He prepares the chosen.

                  • So, does that or could that mean Tess was sent by God?
                    I’d agree with that…

The woman is brilliant, and certainly has a God given talent.
Her site is…well, explore it, then come up with your own superlative.

                  • Were the ten virgins in Matthew 25 not chosen to attend the wedding feast? Of the ten, only five prepared and obtained oil for their lamps. Only those that prepared were admitted to the wedding feast.

                • It’s smart to prepare. It’s fine to believe in miracles but it isn’t smart to rely on them. God put Joseph in charge of Egypt so he could save enough food to save the country from starvation. You and your family can choose starvation if you want. I was wise. I bought food for me and family to last for a year.

                  • Barn Cat,

I will not starve to death, for your information, I was giving advice to those who may not be in a position to prepare. Some people are on the verge of homelessness with this horrible economy. I personally am in good enough shape to provide for more than my own Family, isn’t that what God intended? I have a farm, a home, all of the things that the article recommends, so please stop being so judgmental. It seems that no matter what I write, you will find something wrong with it, I don’t think God’s approach would be anything like yours. Lighten up.

                  • Seektruth, that story of the virgins and the lamp oil is one of my favorite from the Bible and it definitely justifies the concept of preparedness.

                  • Barncat, while you make some valid points, I have to agree with swinging on a star about some people cannot afford to prepare. As we all know, prepping costs money. I’m grateful I make enough money that I an buy more preps at one time than I normally could otherwise. I’m not burdened with a car loan, mortgage, or anything else to do with credit. I reject credit altogether. I don’t remember the scripture, but there is something in the Bible about people should never be in debt. It’s really all any of us can do in this crappy economy to keep ourselves and our families’ heads above water. My prepping is continuing.

                  • For many gullible its a tossup. Ever lasting life vs. 70 Virgins… hmmm.m. btw/ just for the facts, have you any witnessed anyone ever, who collected on those Religious promises?

                • If you were talking to people who couldn’t prepare then you should have done a better job of communicating. You must have wrote 5 answers before you said that.

                  • Barn Cat,

God bless you and may he lighten your heart with comfort in the fact that you have the ability to prepare and not be so judgmental of others. Think about what you said, “choose starvation” who would choose to starve to death? You could possibly choose your words more carefully if you are truly a born again Christian. My post was quite clear, I did not say one word about not being able to prep for myself.

                  • i can’t place this comment where i’d like to, so i’m just going to put it here. i know of an old mansion where “stuff” happens right before your eyes. as in things moving across the floor, stuff flying off shelves, etc, etc, etc. it has had apartments in for quite a few years now and there are many stories told by the people who have lived there of all kinds of activity. some that moved in left the first night. not saying this is good stuff. the good book says the world is the realm of satan. i’m just saying that if anyone out there thinks we are just flesh and blood and there’s nothing more, you best be doing some serious re-thinking.

                • I’m not judgmental of others. I was criticizing how badly you communicated your beliefs. It sounds like you believe in not preparing at all, that God will take care of you. Then you backtracked and said you believed in preparing. There are too many Christians out there as it is who see it as a lack of faith to prepare. You just went ahead and helped convince them they’re right. I’m appalled.

God put Joseph in charge of Egypt so he could prepare them to deal with 7 years of famine after 7 years of plenty.

Christians should prepare as much as they can. Not just for themselves but also for their families and maybe even for other people in need as God leads them.

                  • Barn Cat,

Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla, can’t make sense of one thing you write. You need to simma downa and stop being one of those fake little Christians, you know, the ones who judge, criticize, condemn, ridicule and try your best to demoralize others. Please don’t answer this because I have no interest in your answer, it will be just the same old crap that you spew.

Oh, and guess what, there are miracles every day, and God does open doors for those who deserve it so just because he doesn’t open doors for you doesn’t mean much to me.

              • We all talk about prepping, and I’d wager the majority of us here all prep to one extent or another, but there are times I worry that many of us place too much faith in actually possessing our preps during a SHTF scenario. The worst black swan event I can foresee happening to one of us is a personal disaster occurring right before a national or global one. For example, the battery backup on your solar system shorts out due to a water leak or something else equally random, causing a fire that burns your house to the ground, and every prep you had inside it, the day before an EMP attack. What then? Did you have any caches? Can you live without all those things you counted on? I’m sure there are a number of people here who could, but I fear there are many more who only think they could. I’m not saying don’t prep, in fact I encourage it. I’m only saying that in my opinion, your brain is the most important prep you can invest in. Knowledge, skills, and the like are what is truly necessary for survival. Always ask yourself, “How can I survive without my preps?” That little exercise right there may not only save your life, but will add volumes to your own personal confidence, and will make you much more resourceful. It’s a question that I’ve been asking myself a lot, lately. While I’m a long way from all the answers I personally need, I’m glad I finally started looking for them. Catch you all on the flip side.

                • “The worst black swan event I can foresee happening to one of us is a personal disaster occurring right before a national or global one.”

Buddy, you and I are definitely on the same page. Earlier this week I moved across country back home to Alabama. Got in about 1 AM and parked my moving truck near my folks’ property, then went home to rest for the night. Next morning me and my mom went out there to get the truck to start unloading, and as we topped the hill…..the truck was GONE. For hours we sat there thinking it had been stolen. ALL my worldly possessions in it, gone forever. I can’t even describe how painful that was to contemplate. And in the midst of this I had the thought, what if TSHTF next week, and here I am with NOTHING? Not a single prep to my name, because it’s ALL gone! Needless to say it was an eye opening experience. Later we found out the fucking bitch across the street called 911 an hour after we left and had the truck towed, just to spite my mom. Cost us $360 to get it out because the tow company felt sorry for us and cut us a deal. So that pissed us off (and we are going to fix her ass good), but overall I felt like someone who’d just been rescued from the brink of death. Maybe this UNEXPECTED experience will help me learn something.

            • now there’s the 100,000$ comment, defiant! our perhaps MOST important prep is getting ready to deal with people that are ASHEEP at the wheel right now that will be turned into the night of the living BRAIN-DEAD!

              • my wife refers to them as the walking brain-dead.

                • Your wife is very wise, buttcrackofdoom,
you are a lucky man, indeed.

My wife is a trooper also. She will ask
me if I think I make a difference trying
to reach out to others. I say, I don’t
                  really know, probably not.

                  She just says, keep trying.

              • BCOD, walking brain-dead are all over the city I live in. I consider them my No. 1 threat when TSHTF. I just hope I can make to the family BOL in GA beforehand.

                • You know Brave, perspective is important. So is a positive mental attitude, why don’t you consider them: “Primary alternate protein sources”.

                  • Para is that kinda like the old saying “If you get lemons, eat them their a good source of vitamin C” or something like that. Trekker Out.

                  • Paranoid, I pray that I never get that desperate. They could also be poison.

                  • YOU don’t have to eat them. How does Braveheart’s Secret BBQ sound? Everyone needs a new job.

              • “ASHEEP at the wheel right now”

Oh how I love the wordsmiths of the world… 😉

            • Hard Times Survival

Many families are struggling, trying to provide for their families. Many have seen layoffs, reduced hours, higher insurance premiums, and/or smaller paychecks. Higher prices for food and supplies make it even more difficult.

This website includes a number of useful articles about living in hard times – shelf stable food to buy on a tight budget, recipes, gardening tips, preserving food, how-to-make it or do-it-yourself, etc.

              (note: new website address)
              http://grandpappy.org/index.htm

He has suggestions on purchasing and adding food storage on a very limited budget. (There is also a section on simple recipes.)
At the top of the page, click on Hard Times Survival.

Modify the suggested food list to foods your family like to eat. Remember to ‘store what you eat and eat what you store’.

            • That is a brilliant observation. Those not at all prepared – for anything – literally scare the hell out of me.

              • Bottom line, Those Unprepared Sheeple will die first, or die trying to steal food from the prepared. I would be prepared for many active shooter situations for those unprepared and at their wits end…

            • YUP, i agree that maybe the only thing i am not prepped for and
probably the hardest one, because of what you may need to do!

            • Defiant, the unprepared are what we have to prepare for as much as anything else. In a rapid breakdown it will only be days before you and your stuff (me and mine too!) will have a target on it. Somehow we have to keep that secret – OPSEC, OPSEC and more OPSEC!!

I was once knew an old WW2 vet (long since gone to his reward who lived a lot like a hermit on two acres just outside a small country village) hunted and fished to his hearts content with an unlicensed 22 rifle and old Hollis shotgun. Looked after himself comfortably enough on his pension but hunted and fished to his hearts content. I used to take him a box of 22’s or some #4’s for the rabbits, ducks and wallabies he loved to hunt so much.

Was talking about his guns one day and I asked if he wasn’t worried about having unregistered ones. He laughed and said 2 things …..

              1. No one asked me if I had a gun license when I was walking backwards in front of the Japs in New Guinea in ’42 and …

              2. The best way to keep a secret is to appear not to have one.

And yep, I was breaking the law by giving that thorough gentleman some cartridges. And yep, I’d still be doing it if he was alive today and anyone who thinks I shouldn’t can get stuffed!

              Aussie

          • No, actually what they want is to tax the polluting industries and give that money to he people. Jim Hansen, world’s foremost climate scientist has suggested this many times. He says absolutely nothing about taxing people, rather taxing the industries and giving that money to the people. He left a lucrative career as top climate scientist at NASA in order to be able to write, protest and speak about these issues, all the while still doing research. He has never said anything about taxing people in order to reduce GH emissions. I don’t know of anyone who has suggested taxing the people– I’ve only heard this on right wing websites.

            • Dude, if you believe that, then I have a bridge you need to buy.

Taxing a producing company causes the price of the product to rise.
Even if Big Government did return the money to the people (which it won’t), so what? No gain for the little man. Out of one pocket and into another. So what?

Besides, Big Government will just keep the money and grow even bigger.

Global Warming is a hoax and a scam.

              • Global warming is not a hoax or a scam. Temperatures are rising.

That being said, yes of course the cost will be passed on to consumers if there’s a carbon tax.

                It’s a lose-lose situation.

            • Anonymous,
You are drunk on the kool aid. Global warming is, has been, and will always be a big government, left-wing, state religion, and hoax. Another way of controlling the population and limiting our freedoms and liberty. This planet has been here for four billion years, give or take, and you are arrogant enough to believe mankind is going to make a difference on how this universe and planet evolve etc. Climate change is obvious because it has been changing since the planet coalesced four billion years ago and will continue to do so long after we are extinct. Go figure!! You need to go back to high school physics and chemistry. I don’t know to what degree you want to eliminate CO2, but given your radical dreams you probably want to kill off all plant life and subsequent human life because remember we get our O2 from plants. Just a minor thought. Why don’t you, the left and the right, just give up your radical ideologies, and enjoy what time you have left. You wrong-headed, heterophobic, religiousphobic, brain diseased, baby killers, are all of the same environmental ilk. However, you do provide some serious comic relief.

              • Ignorance blossoms in the dark.

“You wrong-headed, heterophobic, religiousphobic, brain diseased, baby killers, are all of the same environmental ilk.”

Only a myopic moron would say something like this. Although it’s comedic gold for anyone who isn’t completely delusional.

I especially enjoyed the ‘baby killers’ part. Like you tried to argue about global warming and then just descended into some strange right-wing rage.

‘Environmental Ilk.’ You do realize you are a human being that exists within the ‘environment’ of Earth, correct? You do realize that regardless of political views you occupy the same material space as everyone else? You exist within the environment, therefore as a human being, you should be concerned about it.

          • This. It’s happening whether or not you ‘believe in it.’ Prepare accordingly. Although I don’t know what Tsunamis have to do with climate change, they are caused by earthquakes (which are not increased/decreased in occurrence relative to atmospheric temperature).

          • Mac? When you have to clarify some one else’s argument, let alone your own, did you make a valid one to begin with?

        • Tess is referring to weather situations similar to what is happening to Southern and Middle California right now.

A 10 year rainless drought, high dry winds, with no end in sight. Creating a state of emergency water shortages, high water bills, no water for crops and million acre fire storms sweeping across most of South West Amerika from Oregon to Mexico to Arkansas.

          woof

          • Here in Arkansas we haven’t had any fires. and those woodland fires we do have do more good than harm. they clean up the dead litter and make openings for new growth to flourish. our fires don’t burn with the ferocity of the western fires. a Wildfire in Arkansas burns low to the ground you can easily step over them. the state game & fish & parks are now doing prescribed burning. we have had rain every day for the last 14 days. Everything is growing like a rain forest. more folks die from flooding in Arkansas than from fires. I personally don’t know of any homes destroyed or any person killed from a wild fire in Arkansas. Yes the climate is changing. Its always been changing. The climate is not static. There is no optimal or normal climate. No one has the authority to state what the optimal climate is or should be.

            • Old Guy, the rain that hits your area then moves on to my Dad’s area and then my area. with all the rain you’ve had for the past 2 weeks, ain’t no way someone could start a wildfire, and even if they did, it wouldn’t last as soaked as the ground is.

            • To Old Guy, yes we have had the rain in Arkansas, you should see my garden. Looks like a jungle, everything dark green and growing. Dug some new potatoes for my grandchildren this afternoon.

        • yea your right- My knee jerk response- I’m just so super skeptical about “Man Made- climate change “

Been studying, and watching, this phenomena for several years…

Most still deny they exist and will dismiss any conversation regarding such as sheer nonsense..

It appears that it’s well funded under the guise of a global geo engineering project to prevent global warming by infusing heavy metal nano-particulates (aluminum, barium etc)into the upper atmosphere/stratosphere thereby “supposedly” reflecting a certain amount of energy from the sun and creating a ‘cooler’ climate below..all in theory of course..

Recently released docs from the DOD revealed the then sec of defense Cohen openly discussed geo engineering and weather modification as a weapon..

Also, check out Dane Wiginton’s site…

            possee

        • He lost me with that crock of crap. Cheap sensationalism. Must be Obama with a cover name.

        • That vulture keeps sitting there… staring at me.
And I don’t even feel all that sick…..

          • SmokinOkie, 00 buckshot would take care of that vulture permanently.

        • Anyone else notice that less than one week after the” treason trade” Mosul fell to al-Qaeda?

        • Yes, it’s called “Weather”, and the world’s Governments response to it can be more devastating than the actual weather related event.

          • Mehere, like you, many people are confused about the difference between climate and weather. They are not the same thing!

In the book “Two Degrees” by Dorothy Dott, she says there is only about 2 degrees difference in global average temperatures today and when the last ice age occurred. Basically, this means the climate (global average temperature) can vary only slightly and produce huge, catastrophic changes. She says 2 degrees is not a neglegible(sp?) amount!

Compare this with difference in weather. If today’s temperature is only 2 degrees higher or lower than yesterday’s temperature, would you be upset? Of course not. Its insignificant. However, as she stated, a difference in only 2 degrees in GLOBAL AVERAGE TEMPERATURE (climate) is no little thing!

If we have, or I should say, WHEN WE HAVE 5 degrees increase in GLOBAL AVERAGE TEMPERATURES (that is, climate), humans will not be able to survive because plants can not adapt that quickly and no plants mean no food… and yet, 98% of climate scientists say that is where we are headed before the middle of this century unless we wake up. (Some say by the end of the century). You and I won’t be affected, we’ll probably be dead before then. But our kids??!

Ordinarily, plants can adapt to an increase of that amount in global average temperature– they have done so in the past. However, when it happened in the past, it occurred over a millinea.. a very, very long time.

The difference is, this time global warming is occuring at such a rapid pace (it has never occurred this fast in the history of the planet!) and so plants won’t be able to adapt. Its simply occurring too fast or them to adapt.

AT LEAST LOOK UP THE WORDS “CLIMATE” AND “WEATHER” IN THE DICTIONARY! FOR YOUR CHILDREN’S SAKE. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING!

            • Get out of here with your science the ignorant don’t like to be shown their ignorance.

        • In 2006 the Pentagon produced a 28-page report on climate change. It said global warming was real and it was a greater threat than terrorism. 97% of the world’s climate scientists say global warming is real. California scientists says the ocean level there has risen over a foot. Global warming results in extreme weather. So unless you think the Pentagon and the rest of the world is a Democrat plot, I suggest pay attention to what the article suggests.

          • Ya well it rises another 5599 ft I’ll think about worrying about it. Or maybe not.

          • Yep, thats right, sharon. years ago, when I first started reading about climate change, I read that millions of acres of pine trees in Alaska were dead– it showed pictures– they looked like brown skeletons and the article (it was from National Geographic magazine) it said it was due to bark beetle infestation. Ordinarily, beetles die off in the winter and so it gives trees a chance to recuperate. However, because winters are now warmer than they were in the past, beetles survive the winter months and are destroying the trees.

When I first read this, I thought they must mean millions of TREES, not millions of ACRES OF TREES. But no, it was actually millions of acres of trees. A couple years later, the exact same thing happened out west and then down south. I come from Va. and the governor there said he went to check on the pine forest he used to watch over. (He used to be a forest ranger) and he said the trees were ALL DEAD!!! he said he almost cried because everyone of those trees in the pine forest were dead! (BARK BEETLE INFESTATION!)

        • Remember when climate change used to be called seasons?

          • No, Rebel Mel. Only a nitwit hillbilly would call climate change,”seasons”. CLIMATE IS NOT WEATHER! LOOK IT UP IN THE DICTIONARY! THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS!

        • Climate change is real. The causes are what’s debated. Even amongst the ones who are sceptical of man’s involvement can’t agree as to why. I actually believe we’re heading for another Ice Age and I believe the Sun’s activities play a big part.

How else would you explain ancient forests in Antarctica?

      2. Sorry off topic:

@BI: For what it is worth, a friend just text me all eyes are on the Cascadia now with great concern. He works for a geo co. with a contract, with USGS. He will send more info when he can, but he said as of right now it doesn’t look good.

Rive Rat at the ready!!! (Be watchful everyone thing are going to happen quickly on all fronts).

        • Sitting in what is probably one of the most geologically stable places on the planet.

          Let her rip

          • You must be in Aussie Da Yooper? Only kidding, but we just don’t get earthquakes here that do more than rattle a window. We did get one in Newcastle in 89 that went 5.6 which isn’t very big but managed to bring down an awning over a shop that killed 3 and an upper level floor in a Club collapsed that killed 9. When things collapse due to a 5.6 I think the buildings just weren’t designed to withstand any size shock as much as any other reason. We get quite a few that feel and sound like very distant thunder.

Be Informed knows what he is talking about and could give as more info on quakes in Australia as I have seen him mention the “Australian Plate” quite a few times. I gather the Aussie plate has more effect on other places than our own? BI please? – interested to hear you views.

        • The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Is this a left wing progressive site?

          • No, John W., obviously from your remarks, this is an uneducated hillbilly’s website.

          • The middle ground is disappearing quick. It’s nearly impossible to have a discussion online without it devolving into a partisan pissing match.

Literally everything is politicized by the brainwashed who have been stripped of their ability to think critically and reason for themselves. They stand opposed and shout talking points, never thinking about what they are actually saying.

Meanwhile, in the background, shadowy figures make off with the money… Everyone’s money…

But they are too occupied with tearing each other down to notice.

I also have a friend with USGS saying the same thing , they are VERY worried about the Cascadia Fault and some on the mountains on the west coast ( Long Valley Ca.)

Looks like the Pacific Plate is really shoving hard on it and something will have to give. Hopefully, more updates latter. Prepare for a bumpy ride folks if it goes.

          • Can we get some more detail? What specifically did they see that made them think something was amiss? Was there an earthquake cluster around a critical area of the fault line?

Or are they simply reiterating that we are overdue for a quake in Cascadia?

        • Satori,

Excellent post! These are all excellent references.

Here is another one of my favorites.

          The Encyclopedia of Country Living
          by Carla Emery

The original manual for living off the land and doing it yourself. Numerous topics are covered.

          • I just got a copy of that last week
            excellent resource

      3. I for one am very glad that my eyes were opened some 5 years ago. Better late than never in *some* cases. Everyone can prepare to a degree and they’d better get a move on, if they haven’t already! Now if we can just wake up and RALLY the masses against the common enemy…

        • Socrates; Yup, been 4 years for me now

      4. I think the definition for being prepared has changed from 5 or more reasons to:
“Prepare for your life as a whole”. Natural disasters are out of our control but we are reaching the peak of satanic reasons and planners who are after the complete destruction of mankind for their own self interests and greed. I prepare to deal with Satan and its agents and not what God has planned for me and my loved ones and I don’t need to justify my actions when being visited.

        • Anonymous, excellent points. When I first got into prepping, prepare for my life as a whole was the first thing I prepared for and still do to this day.

      5. Well, I was hopeful, until I read #1. Then I blew it off. Anyone who thinks man is capable of changing the global climate scheme is questionable about what they know and believe.

        • man is not capable. however, the oceans and the sun is and by many accounts; we’ve begun a period of at least 20 years of cooling; which is actually worse than warming.

when warming, more food plants grow; during cooling less does; which makes less food available; shorter growing seasons and less food to feed livestock.

knowing what real cooling does; i’m actually wish the warmists were right; but they’re not.

believe you me, you think things are bad now; let the temperature drop a couple degrees for a year or two; you’ll be fighting over who gets to cook the neighbors dog.

          • have you considered that along with WARMER temps, there might be NO RAIN in areas like no cal, where the water comes from to irrigate the breadbasket of america? unintended consequences abound!

            • Northern California = the breadbasket of America. NOT! Try the Great Plains and Upper Midwest if you want to see the bread basket of America. A Kansas farmer feeds his family and 110 others, all around the world. Northern California the breadbasket of America my rear end.

              • Jezabel

Look up the California central valley, Cali grows an incredible amount of food.

              • Best dope plantations maybe. There is a lot of farming in Yolo County but not this year as there is no water for farms.

                • WE can thank Feinstein and Boxer for the lack of water from the Sacramento Delta water project, they both were adamant in cutting off the water supply to “save the Delta Smelt”, so a million or more of Californians are now unemployed and on welfare, all in the name of politics.

              • @jezebel …looks like you haven’t heard of the drought in the midwest? allow me to CORRECT what i said?

“have you considered that along with WARMER temps, there might be NO RAIN in areas like no cal, or the midwest, america where the water comes from to irrigate the breadbaskets of america?

              • Actually, Northern California grows ALL of the pistachios you eat and see, ALL of the almonds you eat and see, ALL of the walnuts you eat and see, all of California itself grows most of the world’s plums, and other fruit, Northern California also grows an incredible amount of the world’s rice crop each year. The Salinas Valley produces the majority of the salad produce you eat and see in the United States(and the free world). The Central Valley (south of Sacramento, grows more cotton, nuts and fruit, than the rest of the country put together. You REALLY need to study your geography and agricultural production and food delivery systems. Kansa may well be the actual “breadbasket” of America, but there are many places in Montana, the Dakotas and Idaho that will give the entire state of Kansas’ production a run for it’s money.California is substantially larger geographically than Kansas and has a far better climate for agriculture. It isn’t a competition at all, it’s just the way it actually is.

              • California grows a large portion of fruit and vegetables consumed in the United States. (Almost all of the almonds as well).

Is it the breadbasket of America? No, but the food selection at the supermarket without California’s crop output would be rather bland.

            • There is another problem. Not only NO RAIN, but what if the people above you on your river or stream decide to build a dam to save the water for themselves? Or what if people start dumping raw sewage in the stream or river above your location? OR what if you live 90 miles south of a big dam (as I do) and the dam breaks?

I wish I had enough money to buy a place with a spring (or two springs)

            • It rains more when it is warm due to more evaporation. Not to mention that most Calif. storms are from the Gulf of Alaska in Winter with the rare Pineapple Express from Hawaii really bringing the rain but also in the cool seasons. The ocean however has to be warm. Once April rolls around the rain is done. So. cal is always a crap shoot as to rain. Weather is chaos and any attempt to predict it is a waste of effort.

          • I agree . I really wish the Al gore glowbull warming Myth Hoax religion predictions where really happening. Warmer & wetter would be better. Now the Magnetic pole shift that is actually happening.

          • Where did you you come up with that bull shit from, leeholsen? I’ve read many, many books on climate change, had to put my computer in storage because I stayed up half the night researching this topic and wasn’t getting any sleep, and in all those years of study (and research in the library as well) I never found anyone saying we are in a cooling period. Guess you got it from the fossil fuel industry’s website.

        • I’m not sure Tess made any such claims regarding climate change being caused by man… But it is certainly easy to make that assumption regarding the term itself, given that it is used as a propaganda tool of the leftist environmental movement… In this case, I think Tess was referring to the general concept of climate change, irrespective of the causes.

          • There is a direct correlation between GDP growth (and the use of fossil fuels) and global climate change. In the past, it was caused by meteors, volcanoes and the like. This time it is caused by humans. There is absolutely do debate about this among 98% of climate scientist.

        • I was hopeful, until I read #1.

          From the article:
The only way to change how severely these types of debacles can affect us is by recognizing them for what they are and preparing for them beforehand.

Not capable of changing, but preparing for the hazardous conditions caused by climate change, aka chemtrails.

        • The only way that we could change the global weather is by thermonuclear war. It would be very cold for at least 5 years. They say by at least 60 degrees by all of the crap that will be in our stratosphere. If you live in an area that gets down to 20 below zero in the winter, it will be 80 below.

        • Hi, Mr. Wolf, did you see the one about Red Cloud prophecy? : ) Or better still, I’ll give you an ever better link…

          • found it … thank you.

      6. EBOLA still out there chugging along

Sierra Leone declares Ebola emergency in district

        http://news.yahoo.com/sierra-leone-declares-ebola-emergency-district-121133723.html

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again
        in a major WTSHTF situation
poor sanitation is gonna kill a whole lot of people

it’s not a glamorous “prepper” subject like the latest newest semi-auto might be
but those little beasties in your food and water will kill you just as dead as a flying piece of lead will

one of the MAJOR reasons that H7N9 got such a foothold is due to incredibly poor health/sanitation practices in China

it’s also the reason EBOLA is doing as much damage as it is

and how about the cholera in Haiti ?

MERS in Saudi is as widespread as it is due to very poor infection control practices in their hospitals

don’t neglect this vital area of prepping
the time to do your research and prep for this is NOW

        • Satori, excellent points. Proper sanitation will be a real challenge in any post-SHTF scenario and I’ve been prepping for that just like I do any number of other things.

        • You are so on point…
This goes hand in hand with having a source of fresh water…

These facts can never be overstated…

          • Satori, braveheart, jerrytbg and all the rest-
I was thinking the same thing this morning in a truck stop restroom. I know, it’s not exactly a place conducive to brilliance, but, as I stood there at the sink, it dawned on me- How many people know how to make even the most basic kind of hand soap?
In a shtf situation, simply lacking soap and water could cost lots of people their lives. (I’m fortunate in that my father-in-law made his own soap for decades.** He passed the skills onto Mrs okie and she taught me. Plus, we are pretty well stocked on most cleaning supplies.) Still, being able to produce any kind of antibacterial/germ killing soap would be an invaluable skill.
Other life saving skills are knowing how to safely dispose of human and animal waste. Disinfecting cuts and scrapes. Treating larger wounds. And obtaining a reliable water source and having the ability to filter or treat it for use.
Say it with me now- SANITATION…SANITATION…SANITATION!
            .
            .
**My father-in-law made simple lye soap. You can find recipes and demonstration videos on youtube. But remember, whenever you are working with lye, USE CAUTION AND ALWAYS HAVE EYE AND SKIN PROTECTION!! Same as you would with any strong acid or alkaline substance. And make it outdoors (under the carport is okay if there’s a breeze) The fumes can be NASTY!!!

            • SmokinOkie as I was readin your comment, before I got to the end, I was thinking about that lye soap my Dad use to make, there sure weren’t no germs or bacteria that could live through that stuff. You was lucky to even have any skin left. Trekker Out.

            • I just put up 8 bars to dry just yesterday !!
Here’s my recipe I ran through the soap calc. at
              Maplesprings.

              20 oz. olive oil
              4 oz. palm oil
              2 oz. coconut oil
              26 oz. total oils

              3.4 oz. lye
              9.7 oz. water

traced very fast using stick blender.
              enjoy

              Keep preppin’

      7. Good article, just good old fashioned commonsense. I don’t know that I agree with “climate change”.

Since all of those have been happening for ages, it can hardly be new.

I will say our population density and reliance on modern technology (Just in time shipping, communication, vehicles, etc.) it makes these naturally occurring events all the more catastrophic.

      8. Just get your gear in order, as most on this site have, and make ready to defend whatever you have.

      9. # 1 is , OH PLEASE, irrelevant.

Just get your gear in order, as most on this site have, and make ready to defend whatever you have.

        • my fault, tired fingers !

      10. and on the other side of the world

Iran’s special forces rush in to help floundering ally

        http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/w…cle4116273.ece

        it’s party time
and not in a good way

        • The moment George Bush stood in front of the still smoldering WTC and proclaimed that Islam was a religion of peace I knew that we would not have a clue how to handle the problem and we would have another Vietnam on our hands. The Saudis are the source of the problem but untouchable.

          • I will certainly agree with you on Saudi Arabia. The amount of 9/11 hijackers that came from Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Wahhabism, is quite startling. Yet, seemingly they are above reproach in relation to the United States. Hmm… I wonder why…

      11. Do the best you can with what you’ve got.

        • In a nutshell, Confederate, that says everything.

        • 10-4

      12. tip: add home brewed colloidal silver water to Crisco and you have a healing antibacterial topical burn cream.

i encourage you to look up home water De-chlorination, water distillation and brewing your own colloidal silver at home.

it really is very easy to do.

you can even make it from a camp fire, a running car battery and/or 15 v solar panel.

        woofy

        • My doctor has been using Arglaes silver powder on a deep wound on one leg and other damage to both legs, and it has worked wonders. The silver is ionic instead of colloidal. Both work, but I have read of tests that show ionic silver is a better antibiotic.

I don’t think the Arglaes can be taken internally, as the silver is in a polymer that allows for timed release. If the wound is wet, the polymer becomes a gel that keeps the silver in place.

It is expensive though. A 5 gram bottle can be found online for $20. And it doesn’t seem to go far. My doctor uses a whole bottle each time I see her, but she is putting it all over both lower legs. For just one sore, it might last a good bit longer.

The main thing I got from the research results is that both ionic and colloidal silver will kill all bacteria, and bacteria will never develop a resistance.

I have a noncollectable silver medal that I got for free many years ago. So colloidal silver would be dirt cheap for me.

          • @archivist

thank you for the great post.

i strongly advise you not to use that impure metal to make silver water. you need .9999 pure silver wire , two 9 inch lengths electrified in distilled non-chlorinated filtered water or you risk poisoning yourself.

            please research the procedure.

            woofy

      13. What is of most immediate concern, in coming days and weeks, in terms of unpredictability, is what the invasion of illegals will cause in our towns and cities. This is an unprecedented event in our country.

Obama’s minions only know that they are successfully creating a crisis.

Who will stand up to stop them remains to be seen.

If no one stops them, every single American taxpayer and school-age child will pay a steep price as these third world illiterate street people make their way into our communities. Anyone who has been to a third world country knows what will happen here.

It’s mind-boggling that this is happening and no one is doing anything to stop it. I simply don’t believe that the Congress has no power to stop it.

Prepare yourselves for what this will cause. Brace yourselves for how it will change your daily lives, habits, and standards of living.

        • Anonymous, excellent points. In Memphis where I live, there has already been a lot of trouble between blacks and Hispanics here and still takes place. If any of those illegals make it to here, it will definitely get worse. If we start having riots here, I’ll be packing heat everywhere I go.

        • That in a nut shell is why i am glad i dont live stateside!

      14. All good points for why people should be taking this situation seriously. I would add an additional point: a very disturbing trend is the flow of jihadis from Western countries to the brutal conflicts in Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq. These people are building their confidence and war-fighting skills and, by the day, developing the discipline to engage in large-scale, state-destroying attacks. That is beyond just one-off terrorist atrocities.

These individuals are freely moving from these war fronts back into Western countries – countries they utterly despise and wish to bring down – and pose a growing threat like we have never seen before. It is one thing to have the menace of small groups of fanatics, it is another to have those who think in terms of fighting forces hell bent on bringing down states. And even worse when you are dealing with beheadingly-insane, Islamic fundamentalists. I really don’t think our police are anywhere close to matching this challenge. The occassions where they have had to deal with this insanity, they have been very slow to act and tend to act in mass confusion.

        • After a collapse. No Muslim will be safe. Islam is a form of government that is anti-Christian/Constitution/Life.

The Libtards would scream if a Catholic Bishop passed laws restricting Sunday activities. Yet they work along side Islamists who regulate bestiality and Pedophilia through Fatwahs(Laws).

          • You both are disgusting. Muslims desire to live as much as you do. You make them out to be the bad people they are not. I can easily say that based on the wars that the U.S. started, christians are more anti-Muslim than vice versa. Now, I can say that. But, I don’t group a whole people together like you are doing.

It shocks me how you want people to respect your right to live and other rights. But you don’t respect Muslim rights. You are just another hate mongerer who is brainwashed by the media and makes preppers look like radical hate mongering idiots who hate everyone except themselves .

I can see that you didn’t learn your lesson. Respect other people’s rights or else you will lose your rights too. Don’t believe the anti-Muslim media. They are part of the plan to take away your rights.

            • Brahaha, I’ll try to be civil with you. It’s not the way you perceive it to be. The Muslims and all of the other groups come in here and refuse to assimilate into our society, they refuse to play by our rules, they don’t have any respect for our culture, they are trying to change certain things here, etc. I could go on and on. This is OUR country. We were here first. So it is our right to set the policies for this nation. No other group has any damned business coming here and telling native-born Americans what to do. If they don’t like what they see here in the US, they can leave anytime they want. No one is forcing them to stay here. There are planes, ships, and buses that leave out of this country every day. The other groups refuse to respect our rights. they’re not US citizens so they haven’t having any of our rights. Plus, they get on the public dole and freeload off our tax dollars. You say we didn’t learn a lesson? You’re the one who needs to learn a lesson. So what part of my message don’t you understand?

              • What culture? If you believe in freedom, than you should have no problem in the way Muslims live. Muslims are not taking away your rights. Muslims are not responsible for gun control. Muslims are not responsible for the crime in this nation. Muslims are not passing laws restricting your freedom. What have they done in this nation besides being scapegoated by the government and media?

You are paranoid. You think any small minority would declare civil war on the rest of a heavily armed population? What culture do you want them to adhere to? Sex before marriage? Alcohol? Drugs? Gambling? Wearing bikinis? That’s never gonna happen.

Why don’t you respect people’s rights? You are so eager to protect your rights but you have no problem taking away other’s rights?

The constitution, which many people here defend, never says that people here must live a certain way or adhere to a specific culture. People can immigrate here. Immigrants can live here. But they must obey the laws of a nation. How many Muslims in the U.S. government? One or two Muslims? You all are complaining about that? Muslims never established gun control, NSA, etc. Don’t you think you are attacking the wrong people?

In reality. The truth is that when you force people to adhere to your culture, that is not freedom. It is people’s right to convert to Islam. It is the Muslim’s rights to live according to their culure and religion. People just have to obey a nation’s laws. That is what the Muslims are doing. Don’t give me that crazy conspiracy theories from glenn beck about the Muslim brotherhood taking over the U.S. government. Why don’t you listen to the U.S. constitution that you supposedly defend.

snowed, Islam doesn’t allow crime and injustice against innocent people. You and many people here are so eager to group all Muslims together with radicals. The Muslims love and desire peace. Why is it that when a christian commits a crime, he is a fake chrisitan. But when a Muslim does something, Americans label him a terrorist?

You really believe everything the media says? Don’t you think many things in the media are lies that are said just to gather support for another war in the Middle East? You and many people here misunderstanding Muslims and Islam. Go to a Mosque and learn from a Muslim. Not from glenn beck, rush limbaugh, or any other biased war loving hate mongerer.

Is it okay to group all and every single American with their government? Is it fair to call every single American a war mongerer? Is it fair to group all gun owners with crazy school shooters? Based on your mentality and what you said, than your answer should be yes….

                • braahaahaa – Go to Europe and check out the no go neighborhoods that are taken over by Muslims. Many of which are forcing Sharia law in the middle of European cities. It’s not safe for locals to pass through them.

Your so called Moderate Muslims are the precursor to the extreamists.

              • Another thing renegade….. The Native American Indians were here first. Massacring them and taking their land doesn’t make it yours. Immigrants have as much a right to come and live here as you do.

As I said. Immigrants must adhere to a nation’s laws. But they DO NOT have to respect or adhere to your culture. Isn’t that freedom to?

                • And the native americans who where her when the pilgrims landed at Plymouth rock. they massacred and took the land from other Indians. they had chased the Sioux away. the Sioux killed the mandans and other tribes and took over the plains. yes Waging war and taking land makes it yours. is yours until some other stronger people come and take it from you. we took much of the south west from Mexico by killing some of them in war. Now they are simply coloizining and taking it back.

                  • My point is that you are an immigrant as much as anyone else. The indians were fighting indians. It was rivalry between ethnicity. They were all the same people. They were just fighting for territory. But what happened to the indians was that a big number of their ethnicity was massacred by the U.S…..But war to conquer land is different. Massacring is different. The U.S. did both, conquer land and massacre indians.

Everyone is an immigrant in the U.S., even white people.

                • Brahaha, I can tell you didn’t understand one word I said. all of the other groups can have their own culture and religion WITHIN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES ALL THEY WANT. You claim that white people want to oppress other groups of people. You’ve had way too much of the koolaid from the mainstream media. As far as me trusting media sources, I trust the alternative media [internet], and then again, only certain sources. No one within the corporate media will give you good information. You can believe what you want, but if you start attacking the good people on this site, there will be consequences.

                  • renegade, I never said white people. Don’t put words in my mouth. I don’t group a whole people together like you do. Media? It looks like you are the one who watches mainstream media. Your ideology of hating and blaming Muslims comes from the republican base like fox news, glenn beck, and rush limbaugh. I never watch the mainstream media. I can’t remember when I last watched tv seriously.

Just like I said in my Comment ID: 314239. You want freedom for yourself, but not for other people. People have cultures. They follow the cultures in the U.S. The constitution guarantees specific rights in the U.S and limits government….that’s all.

It doesn’t say people must live a certain way. That is what makes America. The rights that people have. The only thing I don’t accept of a people if they immigrate to the U.S. is when they forcefully change the constitution and if they don’t follow the laws.

But Muslims aren’t doing any of that. They are following the laws and they are not changing the constitution. As you can see, the people taking away your rights and the rights of other people are actually white and black people. So you are hating on the wrong people.

If you expect to get your rights back, than learn to defend the rights and lives of other people. Or else, just like now, you will lose your rights.

                  • brahaha just proved that he’s a moron.

                  • What exactly would these ” consequences ” be oh paranoid one? Sounds like an empty threat at best made by a desperate geezer.

            • braahaahaa, would it be OK to execute a person for having a Koran? You SERIOUSLY need to do some study before posting here. You obviously have ZERO knowledge of what things are really like in most Muslim countries.

            • brahaha,
How did your head get so far up your ass?

              • This is how you debate huh? You mock me? Now I see the whole picture…..

          • Sierra Dave….while I 100% believe the muslim fate is not a pro human faith due to their satanic crimes by some of there barbarians from the hell hole of Saudis who are the closest friend of the US Government but let’s just be fair here……The Bundy ranch wasn’t surrounded by the Muslims operated BLM rather rather perhaps mostly by fake Christians who were willing to kill other Christian Americans for specific financial interest of Harry R and his son. Who select corrupt leaders like Harry’s…..AIPAC. I think at some point we all need to see the real enemy and not the man made ones through fake red flags.

Kill the enemy but make sure we won’t miss the ones in friends clothing.

        • FT, you bring up something few people have considered. If I encounter a Muslim anywhere, regardless of circumstances, I believe I’ll have to kill that Muslim to save myself. Consider the garbage they’ve been brainwashed with. A Muslim is not someone anyone can talk to about anything. begging and pleading with a Muslim will not save anyone. Either kill that Muslim or be killed by the same POS is the only way out. Last time I checked we’ve got 6,000,000 Muslims in the US. the largest concentration is in the Detroit/Dearborn, MI area, with 1,000,000.

          • FYI…

There are three kinds of mooslemings…

            HARD CORE…ENABLERS … and CONSENTERS…

I agree with you BH…there is no ambiguity…

            • Jerrytbg, thank you for that.

              • No problem BH…

As you can see by the red thumbs, there are many that are either in denial or are disinfo agents…

                “It’s a religion of peace” they’ll say.. I say bullshit…

                It’s a political ideology masquerading as a religion…
                Period… end of discussion…

What religion would ever tell it’s congregation that if they died while KILLING the infidel they would get, how many virgins? How perverted is that? that is so bizarre I don’t even want to entertain this notion…it’s sick…

And we’re supposed to tolerate this crap…

“Every mooosleming I’ve ever known, and fortunately only a few, was a coward when the cards were on the table”…
I’m talking about the ones that were supposed to be on our side…And they were Persian, supposedly different than the rag heads…bullshit they’re all cowards…

This was BEFORE they became vogue and in the news… circa early 70’s…no wonder the IDF kicked their collective ass’s in 67 and 73…and I’m waiting for them to do it again…
                No regrets…

          • Nashville, Tennessee, the Capital of Country Music, is home to 11,000 Kurds and 8,000+ Somalis and Somali Bantus, as well as other Muslim ethnic groups. The Nashville area has as many as 30,000 Muslims.

An estimated 60,000 Muslims live currently in the state of Tennessee

In the 1990s Muslims came to Louisville from Iraq, Somalia, Bosnia, etc. Now Muslims are coming from Kosovo.

Today Louisville boasts of a Muslim population of 5,000 to 10,000 with several Islamic organizations.

Kentucky census does not list Muslim pop.

            • JayJay, we have a lot of Muslims in Memphis but I don’t know how many. Memphis Census figures don’t include Muslims either.

            • Muslims in Nashville? Well, now…
While I would love to see them all converted into good Baptists, they have the freedom to worship as they please. This is America, after all. But if they so much as lay a hand on the Grand Ole Opry… this means WAR!!!

          • You are badly in need of medication.

            • Read about the major problems muslims are causing in England at Brit Ian first.org.
Unbelievable, riots, pushing for sharia law, raping young English girls then saying its OK because their religion says so. England is being RUINED by immigration, will be over 40 Muslim in 30 years or less. Muslim’s are spewing hate left a ND right in England, is this the future u want for America?
Indians were here first but now that’s changed, I do not want my kids growing up in America with a mosque on every corner, 200 different languages being spoke in schools, immigrants owning most businesses.
Lloyd bank in England no longer makes muslims pay overdraft fees or charges them interest because the muslims complained it was against their religion! Of course all others continue to pay the fees.
This is 1 example of how they push for change. It is their goal to rule the world. They need to be deported from America and the borders sealed.
Also read about the female genital mutilation they force on their young girls, it’s illegal here but still happens, there’s a petition on change. Org about it. Or read about the
Muslim woman killed by stoning by her family because she married for love…. IS THIS THE BS CRAZY CRAP U WANT IN AMERICA?

      15. In battle some will run to gunfire, others will run from it, Prepper’s are people that can look at what we call civil society and still recognize the evil under current. Preppers run/work to the possibilities of a worst case and find solace in facing what will come, we understand evil because we refuse to ignore its existence.

Lots of difference running at small arms fire and meeting up with a 120mm mobile cannon on tracks.
          ;0)

          • slingshot

I’m not sure I see the difference, it’s all about the angle of attack. Much the same idea when working your preps, or most anything for that matter.

            • y99

You my friend understand tactics. That is a very valuable resource which will make the difference in living or dying. You can die either from a .223 or a 120mm shell.

              • I would though certainly feel a little better about my outcome if it didn’t involve howitzers/attack gun ships/drones/tanks ect. That said, will probably be a pawn sacrificed as will not be able to stand what is happening, just hoping to make it a worthwhile sacrifice.

                • WD

That is the point. Who is going to teach these people when they wake up as to how to defend and defeat these armaments. It will have to be one hell of a learning cure as many will die for being stupid. Most could not put on a battle dressing. Many have not trained together.
OPSEC is a two edge sword. It can help or get us all killed. No wonder nobody wants to get in the thick of it. Who do you trust in Battle?

                  • I believe there are enough of us out here that can seed the knowledge in and to willing minds…

                    I HAVE FAITH!

          • Slingshot now get serious. do you really think their going to bring a 120mm mobil cannon on tracks to try and take my Cuz Breavheart’s 22LR away from him. Yes I know he’s tough and has left a lot of dead bodies on his front porch. But a cannon!

            • NGC

I have seen videos of Israel’s armor taking out a single insurgent with tank shells on city streets. So it is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Many of us would be a major thorn in the governments ass should things go bad.

Why not one 120mm to do the job.

        • Nice…

These sounds as also Celtic on a crystal clear night doing a light air beamer off shore will set anyone right.

If not…they were never going to be there anyway.

        • That’s the best info no one knows about.

“So is there any limit beyond which the US government wouldn’t go to foment war, to wage war.”

I agree and I will add that the DC corporation is the biggest terrorist organization on the planet. I know the CIA gave up intel to the Iraqis on the exact location of the Iranian troops so they could gas them with the chemicals provided by the US government.

Now unfurl that flag and step in line boys.

Theirs is not to reason why
Theirs is but to do and die.

          …Sheesh…

        • Satori, that was a very interesting article. I’ve heard other reports going back to the early 90s about Reagan and Bush Sr. supplying chem/bio weapons to Saddam. I saw an article in Soldier Of Fortune magazine during that time frame about some of our troops found a chem/bio weapons depot in southern Iraq during the 1st Gulf War and after that was when I started hearing the first reports of Gulf War Syndrome. I hoighly suspect some of the chem/bio agents Bashar Assad has used on the rebels in Syria could be those leftover Iraqi WMDs sold to Saddam by the US. I recall 2 weeks before Bush Jr. initiated the 2nd Gulf War, there was a report about convoys of Iraqi WMDs being escorted out of Iraq to Syria by Russian special forces. It’s a safe bet whatever Saddam had left in now in the possession of the Bashar Assad regime. It would be very interesting for UN inspectors to go in there if they could and see if they find anything with American labels still on them.

And I’ve never had a woman leave the toilet lid up for me.

        • Eppe, sorry for the late reply, but if you hit the nerves of some feminists, that’s even better. Your humor will always be appreciated here. Keep them coming.

      18. Has anyone not heard of the Haarp? Humans are capable of changing the weather and have been for sometime. The have loads of coffins the are delivering to mass areas around the U.S and Canada. Why cant people wrap their minds around this. Government is setting us up. Have been for years dont be dumb do your research and google you so called ppl ready for emergencies

        • Jesse Ventura had a segment about HAARP in his series “Conspiracy Theory.” One of the people on that show who claimed that the array was changing the weather was a scientist who is the brother of Alaska’s Senator Begich.

          • Jesse Ventura. Now there is someone I would believe. Yeah right. The body and mind.

            • Why the thumbs down?

The question was, has anyone ever heard of HAARP?

I answered and told where I heard of it.

Once you know where the info came from you can decide for yourself.

              • Yes I drink Harp mixed with half of a Guinness. Its called a Black and Tan.

      19. To break up the tension of all that we are feeling, I just had to post this video. It is hilarious of this guy feeding the alligators in a swawp while swimming with them. He actually puts a marshmellow in his mouth and the alligator takes it without biting him. Of course the ENVIRONMENTALISTS say this is so horrible and disrupts the natural balance of things rather than laughing and enjoying something funny. Sure seems people like anti-gunners and the ones that shove every law down our throats are the ones that have absolutely no sense of humor.

This short minute video is worth the look to have a little laugh:

        • We’ll be easy to find……protesting in our 1st amendment fenced off area.

      20. I imagine everyone who preps does so for what he sees as the most likely SHTF scenario. Some prep with gold and silver while others won’t touch metals.
Some collect every type of weapon imaginable while others disdain crossbows.

According to the Bible, there are four types of serious events coming. In the order the Bible gives them, they are –
        War
        Famine
        Plague
        Natural Disasters

And if you’re a Christian, you can add one to the list. According to Matthew 24, a great persecution of the Church is coming.

        • Those are events for during the Great Tribulation period. That won’t start until the world leader signs a 7 year peace treaty with Israel.

The coming economic collapse will lead to the one world government.

          • Barn Cat, my personal belief is that the Great Tribulation doesn’t start until –

As you said, the treaty/covenant is implemented
The 144000 Jews are sealed in Revelation 7

In my opinion, the events leading up to the opening of the Seventh Seal are the Beginning of Sorrows, in which the Church must participate.

The Seventh Seal introduces the Wrath of God, which marks the beginning of the Great Tribulation/Jacob’s Trouble/Day of the Lord.

        http://www.alternet.org/education/truth-about-child-abuse-and-poverty

        • Nonsense. The ghetto is filled with women who have illegitimate children. Those children are 50 times more likely to be abused than a child raised by both parents who are married to each other.

          • i agree @bc , i’m simply introducing it to remind folks it out there.

      24. Self Sufficiency – Lessons from a Mother

        http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-06-12/self-sufficiency-lessons-mother

“Resiliency doesn’t lie in having baked beans stashed, a log cabin in the woods, rounds of ammunition, or a purpose-built panic room stocked to the hilt in a suburban house. Resiliency lies in an ability to think and act in a certain way irrespective of what the world throws at you.”

        to paraphrase Darwin
it’s not necessarily the strongest or smartest who survive
it’s those that recognize first that change has occurred
and adapt the quickest to that change

        • That’s dumb. You can’t really adapt when you’re starving to death. That just doesn’t make any sense.

          • Things that did adapt survived. Those that did not adapt either moved to better habitat or perished.

        • Satori, I usually enjoy your posts, but this is only one time I have to disagree with you about Darwin. Darwin was one of the biggest morons who ever lived. Barncat, i’m with you on your post.

          • that’s quite alright
but I do need to point out that Selco has said the very
            same thing

see my post a little further down

          • Sorry Brave; usually I agree with you; but Darwin was not a moron. Believe it or not; he was a divinity student, recommended for his job by a minister; and waited nearly 30 years to publish his work because he was so concerned about the results. In the end, he published only when a young student wished to publish the same conclusions, and sent him the paper to review and present. He was not going to publish his work and his wife said to present both papers. He did, his was so superior that few even remember the other. Even the Catholic Church has in the last few years been forced to admit that there is significant evidence to support his work. (One of the Popes appointed several priests to investigate, you should read their conclusions) My bet is that in another 100 years it will e just like the Church saying “We never really argued against the Earth circlingv the Sun” Churches have very selective memory.

“When SHTF started, in the time when great majority of us thought that what was going on around us is something like temporary rioting that got a bit out of control, city services still worked in some parts of the city, everybody was waiting for madness to stop.”

a lot of people didn’t survive the first days
because they thought things would quickly go back to normal

“But point is that lots of people died in that short period before realizing that things aren’t the same”

your best prep is your brain
        combined with some common sense

      28. ““Resiliency doesn’t lie in having baked beans stashed, a log cabin in the woods, rounds of ammunition, or a purpose-built panic room stocked to the hilt in a suburban house. Resiliency lies in an ability to think and act in a certain way irrespective of what the world throws at you.”

it’s those that recognize first that change has occurred
and adapt the quickest to that change”

Nicely summarised, so the age old question remains – why are we STILL trying to wake up the sheeple who’ve denied reality for years when THEY will be our enemies when SHTF?

        http://ferfal.blogspot.com/2014/06/700-days-of-urban-survival-in-syria.html

“In the beginning, the siege was tolerable because Akhras’ family had hoarded provisions for the sometimes long lockdowns during previous gunbattles. They were well stocked with rice, beans and cracked wheat and fuel.

As the blockade deepened, Akhras rarely left the building – perhaps six times during the 700 days, she estimated.”

      32. I often think about that story about the “old believers” who lived in the forest for 40+ years. They almost starved repeatedly because they could not find food. Deer and such eat the layer under the bark: they were in a forest of hard-woods. I’ll bet the area was literally brimming with food if only they had known how to harvest and prepare it.
I think we’d all be similar if we had EOTWAKI. Most people think we might have SHTF but I think we have a society falling apart. I don’t know what will follow…

Norad Admits F-22 Fighter Jets Intercepted 4 Russian Bombers 50 Miles Off California Coast
        from ZeroHedge site)

“At the height of the Cold War I do not remember them getting this close,” notes a retired Air Force Lt. Gen. as The Washington Free Beacon reports that four Russian strategic bombers triggered U.S. air defense systems while conducting practice bombing runs near Alaska this week, with two of the Tu-95 Bear H aircraft coming within 50 miles of the California coast, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (Norad) confirmed Wednesday.

Two U.S. Air Force F-22 jets were scrambled and intercepted the bombers over the Aleutians but the remaining two nuclear-capable bombers then flew southeast and entered the U.S. northern air defense zone off the coast of Northern California, before 2 more F-15s were scrambled. As House Armed Services Committee member Connaway ranted, “truth of the matter is we would have squashed either one of those [bombers] like baby seals.” McInerney said no American president has been treated with such disrespect in U.S. history.

        • Hmmm…Could this be more fear mongering?

Are neocon mouthpieces preparing the people for war by demonizing the Russians?

These “games” are played all the time…the people are not told until they seem to want to frame the conversation as “us” vs “them”.

      36. OBAMA TAKING A NAP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MORNING ON A WORKDAY!!!

Did everyone catch Speaker Boehner’s parting remark at his press conference yesterday, after just stating that there’s not a lot the Congress can do when the President “won’t engage.”

Boehner ended the press conference abruptly when asked a question about talking with Obama…Boehner said that he was told that at that moment, instead of talking and negotiating with Boehner about very important and pressing matters, Obama was “taking a nap.”

Well excuse me America, but the last time I checked, the President of the United States is a civil service employee and is expected to be working between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern time.

If Obama wants to nap during working hours, he had better darn well be taking personal leave time to do it.

Furthermore, there does not appear to be any single thing taxing him to such an extent that he truly needs to catch a few snoozes in mid-morning to keep up his stamina.

This is nothing but LAZINESS AND SLOTH.

      43. I just watched this video on Fukushima and the Japanese government is hiding a lot. They have issued a 10 year prison sentence on any whistleblowers on Fukushima. While there has not been any explosion strong enough to really get this into the jet stream, this is poisoning much of the regional area around Japan’s waters. Much of where a lot of seafood comes from. The food chain of the Pacific Ocean and others oceans WILL definitely be affected. Disgusting evil governments of this world that hate their people and all people.

China meddles in South China Sea, Russia is a thorn in the Ukraine, the illegals keep coming from the south, Syria is a mess, Iran has stymied the US, a growing number of countries are bypassing the dollar, and now the Iraq “gains” may be literally be engulfed in flames.

      46. I’ve noticed this pattern amongst preppers – missing the boat on nuclear war. I’m tracking the approach of nuclear war on my website. Right now the US is in the danger zone. Articles are coming out weekly or more discussing the possibility of war between the US and China. Russia has threatened the US with nuclear targeting or attack at least 15 times since 2008. Just the other day it warned Finland and Sweden not to join NATO.

Historically, there is a connection between financial crisis and war:

        1. Financial crisis in 1907, and World War I in 1914.
        2. Financial crisis in 1929, and World War II in 1939.
        3. Financial crisis in 2008, and World War III in 2015-2018?

Read my “About” page to understand more.

For prepping purposes, put nuclear war at or near the top of your list.

        • I agree: the US changed its defense posture under Bush to a first strike position. Russia then followed and so did China. Then we throw in all the rogue Islamic filth who are also gaining access to nuclear weapons. This is a tinder box unlike anything in the cold war, when MAD made sure both sides dare not strike first.

I think somebody will do it at the battle field level. That will be the first use, and then there will be a strike on multiple cities by one of the major powers. The trigger? Fear. There is a lot of fear out there and mistrust: all it takes is one country to get too fearful and then they go for the first strike. It is like being hounded by a playground bully: you have been shamed by them many times, but as you grow older and lift some $50 weights, you get a bulked up top deck and some biceps. Then the bully tries it again and you have to decide: deliver a devastating blow and end it for good, or it take it and risk it happening again. You strike with two quick jab hits to the bully’s lower nostril and jam his bone into his brain. Job done. That’s what is coming.

      48. Anytime there is a dynamic shift in power actual or perceived there is instability. When its global and of sufficient magnitude to touch the entire world the result is violence. The former holder of power wishes to maintain that status while the emerging powers wish either to not be absorbed or desire that status for themselves.

      49. Friday the 13th, and it,s a full moon

        should be a fun night

        • I saw somebody at church today, and they said today was full of “f’s,” Friday, Friday the 13th, Full Moon, Flag Day Eve, and Father’s Day Eve Eve. He has something to say about every day. One day (May 4) he said it was Star Wars Day, “May the fourth be with you.”

So far, today has been good. I got paid 2 weeks earlier than I thought I would for an on-the-side job. To celebrate, we ate some ice cream. I didn’t think I had enough squash, so we’re planting some more this afternoon before the rain starts. And gas hasn’t gone up here yet.

ISIL has set up military councils to run the towns they captured, residents said. “’Our final destination will be Baghdad, the decisive battle will be there’ – that’s what their leader kept repeating,” said a regional tribal figure.”

        • More news from Iraq…

“About 200 Americans under contract with the Department of Defense at Balad Air Force Base in Iraq are trapped by the al-Qaida-inspired jihadists who have seized control of two cities and are now threatening Baghdad, according to WND sources.

The sources, private contractors who have recently returned to the U.S. from Iraq, said Friday their former colleagues effectively have been abandoned by the U.S. military and are fighting for their lives against an army of jihadists surrounding the base who belong to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS.

The U.S. contractors are at Balad to help the Pentagon prepare the facilities for the delivery of the F-16 aircraft the Obama administration has agreed to provide the Iraqi government.

The surrounded Americans said they currently are under ISIS fire from small arms, AK47s, and rocket propelled grenades, or RPGs.

The contractors so far have been able to hold the base, but those on the scene reported it was only a matter of time before the ISIS terrorists succeeded in breaking through the perimeter. The sources confirmed the contractors were still under siege, despite an Associated Press report Thursday, citing U.S. officials, that three planeloads of Americans were being evacuated from Balad.

WND has learned from sources that the jihadists have closed down escape routes, and the U.S. Air Force is in a stand-down position.”

      52. While I agree that a strong religious belief is a good thing, too many people like to over-state their beliefs and try to force them on others.

We all need faith, but a Loving God would NOT (imho) make everything in this life and the next dependent on what we believe. The way I see it, God values sincerity over mindless compliance. Some people believe the Christian doctrine. Some find it impossible to accept. Would a Loving God condemn people for rejecting concepts that seem illogical to them?

A Loving God would not, and could not, torture people forever just because they got it wrong. I can’t claim to know the mind of the Creator, but in my opinion the truly irredeemably evil would simply be terminated, and the rest of us would be given another chance if we failed to get it right this time.

That’s what “Loving” means, and you won’t find much of that in the Old Testament.

“I love you so much that I’ll torture you forever if you don’t obey my every command”. Those aren’t the words of a Loving God, but of the DEVIL.

There IS a God. I’m certain of that, but we’re here to do the best we can on the assumption that this world really matters, so there’s no point sitting back and waiting for the cavalry to rescue us at the last second.

God WILL help, but He’s not going to do it all for us. It’s up to US to make the effort. The cavalry isn’t coming for the simple reason that WE ARE the cavalry. It’s OUR job to put things right, but too many seem to have forgotten that.

I can’t condemn people for wanting to share their religious beliefs, but this is supposed to be a prepping site, primarily concerned with ensuring our physical survival through the coming disaster. What we believe about the life beyond this one IS important, but we won’t know until we get there, and I’m certain there must be any number of sites where people can debate how many angels can dance on the head of a pin until the cows come home.

        Religious sites for religious debate.

        Prepping sites for preparedness debate.

        Makes sense to me anyway.

Btw, on the subject of chemtrails, nearly everyone here in the sewer that was once England (and will be again) is coughing, choking, sneezing, vomiting with what has been described as “the 100-day cough”. I’ve had it since a week before Easter, and it’s pretty nasty. I suspect sulphur (sulfur) in the chemtrails.

      53. The economy already collapsed back in 2008. The economy has been on a IV with no vital signs since. People have been just too brainwashed to realize it. The world is already at war, it just hasn’t been officially declared yet. The US government has drawn up war plans against Russia and China, does anyone think they are dumb enough to just sit there and wait for a first strike?
What you should be preparing for is nuclear war. Amerika has done everything they can to make the world a very unstable place. Nothing they have done in the past 50 years have “protected” our freedoms. They have done nothing but destroyed them. Get ready to hunker down for quite some time. Temps will drop at least 60 degrees for 5 years or until the crap gets out of the stratosphere.
If we had the guts to stand up to our government we might be able to turn all of this around. But sadly most people are brainwashed. I have been warning family and friends for 20 years. Do you think that 1 of those people have called me up to say, that I was right all along? NO! The apathy never ceases to amaze me.
They send their children to government indoctrination centers and even fund it. They think that things are getting better because that is what the state funded teleprompter readers say. It couldn’t be further from the truth. Smash the tv and get out of the matrix. There are a lot of good sources out there to find out the truth, if you can handle the truth.

        http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2014/06/indications-u-s-planning-nuclear-attack-russia.html

this is particularly interesting to me

“In 1917, after almost two years of heavy anti-German propaganda in the U.S. press that built an overwhelming public support for our joining that war against Germany, Congress found that, in March 1915, “J.P. Morgan interests had bought 25 of America’s leading newspapers, and inserted their own editors, in order to control the media” so that we’d join the war on England’s side.”

Regardless, teaching him all of “the little” I do know so he can be an awesome aware and just patriotic and “God loving/fearing)civilian leader some day if we survive the coming calamities. (And maybe some of it will help save our ass in the coming shitstorms)

      58. “White Men can’t Jump”

        Quoted excerpt…

I’m a black guy. Let me tell you the unvarnished truth about the mindset of young black, “urban” males re: white folks, in general.

First, this ain’t no thinking kind of thing. Most black folk from “the ‘hood” habitually see “white folk” as little more than an inscrutable, irrelevant abstraction; there is very little real, significant interaction with whites, and what there is with white folk- on the job, government, somewhere, is not taken seriously, almost as a joke.

Whites are seen as arrogant, presumptuous, conceited, privileged and completely out of touch with the true unspoken yet felt rythyms of REAL life, like pale skin, suit-wearing, square-*** , dry *** zombies.

Not as a threat or even as consequential, but soft, pasty, blockheaded nerds and squares. Honestly, I’m just saying it like it is.

In predatory street culture, if you are seen as weak, if you can’t stand up for yourself, you don’t just get pushed over, you get KNOCKED OVER.

These young black dudes on the street don’t think deeply enough to see you as the “white oppressor”; they (these perpetrating punks who commit these type of crimes of opportunity, that is,) see you as no more than weak-*** marks to be hit, in whatever way.

Nothing more. They’ve been given license and justification to get at you. To them, now some of them are gonna do just that–get at you.
        That’s all. For real.

      59. Thank you Mr. Wolf for your insight into the young black male.

        The Jews hate me.
        The Muslims hate me.
Not to my surprise, the Blacks hate me.
The Latinos are the only ones left.

Very unpopular but we need a civil war to sort this all out. Do you have a better plan by chance?

        • @Slingshot … respect.

Be patient , they “THE(white)MAN” are developing Nano-viruses that target various races gene’s, to take care of the minority problem in the good ole’ U.S.S.A. . they kinda work like sickle cell enema does , but faster and more permanent.

If you’re a None Caucasian IT MIGHT BE WISE TO AVOID ALL SHOTS FROM THIS TIME FORWARD IF YOUR NOT IN THE “CLUB”.

Seriously Nano-Viruses Population Control were discussed this year at the BilderBoyBugger meetings.

SO NO TO SHOTS if you want to live.

          woof

        • the Latinos hate you too…

“La Raza” mexican gangs are such badasses in L.A./californication they are even kicking out forcing the blacks from old entrenched black hoods in cali.

So if in need of a “white safe zone” head to the Redoubt. but beware the Local locals.

          woof

      60. Not true!!!! Latinos DON’T hate Whites, Blacks, Yellows, Browns, nor Reds…..cuz, most of us have a little of all ya’ll in us! 🙂

Sometimes, the unknown can be scary (like a language you can’t understand, etc.)…and as always “Birds of a feather flock together.”….But yeah, you gotta be carefull in certain parts of all Cities (regardless of the group).

Peace out, remember …..The people at the top ultimately responsible for much of this crap luv it when the sheep divide and turn on each other (hint, hint)

        Peace out, stay safe all

      61. And just to add to my last post….There are many interacial families in my area of S. California. Love knows no color boundaries! Some of these young couples ….are creating their own Ethnic group: “Mixed” 🙂

        • Actually, DNA analysis shows most “blacks” in the USA are a good percentage white. And most “whites” are also some percentage black. In fact, the analysts were surprised to find that “pure” DNA areas are very, very rare in the world. There were a few places in India, Africa, and such; but, in general, there is no “black” or ‘white’ when it comes to human. Race is just something “the man” wants to impose on us to cause us to judge not based on character but based on imagined traits of some non-existent “white man” or “black man” or “red man” or “yellow man” or “tan man”. If you define yourself by a “race” then you are simply not educated.

        • GDTEIE.

White people need to reinvent themselves. A New Image. Like “Cracker Nation”.

          A new song.

          I’m a Cracker.
          He’s a cracker.
          She’s a cracker
          They’re a cracker.

Wouldn’t you like to be a Cracker too!

          White Trash Nation?

It used to be the White mans fault for everything.
Then it changed to George Bush’s fault.

      62. WOW there are a lot of liberal morons on this site. 1. climate change is bullshit and it can be proven very easy. Aside from the fact that stats show the climate is not getting warmer and recent NOAA numbers have been proven a lie. All hat would have to be done to prove the climate change scam is to remove all of the grant money from the pro climate change crowd. If they can’t make their millions Perpetuating the lie, the lie goes away. 2. If you think for one minute that a carbon tax is going to “the people” you are dreaming. A carbon tax on businesses would go directly to the continued growth and over reach if the socialist government.
