This article was originally published by Charles Hugh Smith at Of Two Minds.

Editor’s Note: Basically, we’ve been acclimated to the idea that have various European monetary powers of each of its nations is normal, and worth preserving at any cost. But there is nothing natural about this union. It benefits the bankers the most, and burdens both the pocket books of Europeans paying for the bailouts of Greece and the other nations, and punishes the Greeks with austerity they see as a form of slavery and bondage imposed by a European master.

Whether Greece implements sound economic reforms or not, and otherwise gets things under control, it would be stronger on its own two feet. The yoke of the European Central Bank and the euro is not going to accomplish reforms or make anything better… Charles Hugh Smith argues that an independent Greece would have the incentive to actually be responsible with its financial obligations.

Greece Just Blew Up the Empire’s Death Star of Debt

The Greek Elites and kleptocrats are terrified of the discipline that leaving the euro will impose, but the general public should welcome the transition to an economy and society that has been freed from the shackles of Imperial debt and the kleptocracy that has bled the nation dry.

Although the financial media is blathering about negotiations and gamesmanship, the truth is Greece just blew up the Empire’s Death Star of debt. There’s nothing left to negotiate except the official admission that the Imperial Death Star of debt, the most fearsome threat in the galaxy, has been blown to smithereens.

There are three fundamental points that need to be emphasized, mostly because they’ve been lost in handwringing, fearmongering and the ceaseless chatter of propaganda shills.

    1. Impaired debt and defaults result from imprudent underwriting and lender incompetence/ greed. Since when did it become accepted policy to reward imprudent lending, incompetence and greed?

Classical Capitalism is very clear on what should happen to lenders who ignored risk management; they get destroyed. As imprudently issued loans default, the losses pile up and the lender become insolvent. At that point, Capitalism kicks in and the management is fired, the stock goes to zero, the lender’s assets are auctioned off and the creditors are issued whatever remains after wages, taxes, accounts payable, etc. are paid.

There’s nothing complicated about it: Capitalism requires the discipline of losses being taken by those responsible, the firing of incompetents and the destruction of imprudent lenders.

Yet somehow the dominant narrative has reversed this essential core of Capitalism into blaming the borrower for the losses.

Look, if someone offers to loan me a billion dollars with no collateral and no assessment of the risks that I might not be able to pay the interest or principal, then who’s the fool? The idiot who wants to give me $1 billion without any risk assessment, or the borrower who takes the “free money” being offered?

Yes, no one should borrow money that they can’t pay back, blah blah blah, but the primary fiduciary responsibility is on the lender to not offer loans to marginal borrowers and those at high risk of defaulting on their debts.

Yet the official line on debt is “the lenders are blameless, the borrowers are at fault and should pay.” The borrowers were imprudent to take on debt they couldn’t service, but it is the lenders who made the bad loans who are ultimately are at fault and who should suck all the losses.

Let’s set aside the propaganda for a moment and get real: anyone with the slightest knowledge of Greek finances and the power structure of the Greek economy/society knew it was insanely risky to loan Greece billions of euros. No one can deny this, yet somehow the lenders deserve to be paid for their avarice, stupidity, incompetence and total disregard for the standards of prudent lending? No, they deserve to be destroyed–closed down and their assets auctioned off.

    2. Greece will not be wiped out by leaving the euro currency–it will be freed to rebuilt itself with prudent fiscal management and policies that reward investment and penalize risky borrowing, speculation and corruption.

Here’s the thing about Greece issuing its own fiat currency–it will force fiscal discipline in a way that the euro did not and could not. This is why the Greek Status Quo is quivering with fear–the gravy train of irresponsibility enabled by the euro is ending, and they are terrified of living within their means and having to face the discipline that the market will impose on the Greek fiat currency.

If there’s one thing Greece needs more than anything, it’s the discipline and the rewards of the market. Any nation that issues its own fiat currency has a choice: it can exercise fiscal prudence and enforce policies that reward entrepreneurism, prudent lending, savings, wise investments, fair taxation, etc., or it can try to prop up its bloated, corrupt kleptocracy by printing rivers of fiat money.

If it chooses the Dark Side and prints money in excess, it will soon drive the value of that currency to near-zero. The kleptocracy that hoped to benefit from money-printing is impoverished or forced to move their capital elsewhere.

In other words, Greece returning to being responsible for its own currency is a good thing. The new currency will be valued cheaply relative to other currencies at first, and this is also a good thing, as imports will be unaffordable for all but the wealthy (kiss BMW sales in Greece good-bye) and everything produced in Greece becomes a bargain globally.

This will attract capital seeking places where it can make a profit and is treated fairly, and it will enable Greece to rebuild its export sector and boost its substantial tourist trade.

The promise that marginal borrowers would be transformed into sterling-credit borrowers by adopting the euro was always a fantasy–and a painfully visible fantasy at that. Anyone with their eyes even partially open could see that the vast differences in productivity, credit, risk and culture between the eurozone nations made the euro unworkable from the start.

It was equally visible that the eurozone’s inept policies and loose lending standards would obscure these fundamental differences until the damage would be too great to hide–which is exactly what transpired.

    3. The hundreds of billions of euros in so-called bailouts did not help Greece–all they did was bail out imprudent lenders and Euroland Elites. Virtually none of these vast sums helped the Greek nation or its people; what little did stay in Greece flowed to the kleptocrats that continued to rule Greece.

The harsh reality of misrule and corruption was recently spelled out in Misrule of the Few: How the Oligarchs Ruined Greece:

“Greece has failed to address (rising wealth/income inequality) because the country’s elites have a vested interest in keeping things as they are. Since the early 1990s, a handful of wealthy families — an oligarchy in all but name — has dominated Greek politics. These elites have preserved their positions through control of the media and through old-fashioned favoritism, sharing the spoils of power with the country’s politicians. Greek legislators, in turn, have held on to power by rewarding a small number of professional associations and public-sector unions that support the status quo. Even as European lenders have put the country’s finances under a microscope, this arrangement has held.”

Greece just blew up the Death Star of debt, and now the threat has been lifted from other debtor nations suffering from the yoke of Imperial misrule. The Greek Elites and kleptocrats are terrified of the discipline that leaving the euro will impose, but the general public should welcome the transition to an economy and society that has been freed from the shackles of Imperial debt and the kleptocracy that has bled the nation dry.

      1. There are many historical buildings in Athens. I love to see the picture of “Dead Wealthy Greeks” who participated and benefited with the international criminal banksters hanging from the walls.

        • This article is retarded. I am shocked that SHTF Plan pushed this propaganda piece.

#1 Greece debt is not because of Greek Elites and kleptocrats. It is from a welfare nation where the entire population is on the government cheese.

#2 Getting a bailout from the EU was only allowed after the government promised to push through austerity measures (basically stop the welfare state)

#3 the Greek people hate having to work for their keep so they voted in a new government that says “screw the austerity.” They already got the money not they are going to default on the loans.

#4 Nobody will do business with Greece when they revert back to their own currency. Reverting back to their own currency will not cancel the debt.

#5 When governments and companies refuse to do business in Greece, an even deeper depression with hyperinflation will take place for the Greek people.

#6 an even more radical government will be installed that promises a “chicken in every pot and a car in every garage. Then comes the Nazis.

Greece has screwed themselves with their greed and it is the people to blame.

This propaganda article is a progressive leftist piece, so i am surprised that SHTF posted it. Preppers are usually conservative by nature, not liberals.

          • The currency “The EURO” Crushed Europe. Controlled by the Central Banksters, creating inflation and debt to steal assets with more worthless Euro Currency.

            • The Euro did crash Europe. But when Greece joined the Euro, the Euro saved them. Greece was going to collapse because of poor economic policies combined with a welfare-minded population. The stronger EU pulled them up… until the E.U. was hit with their first major economic crisis, and then everybody discovered how fragile the system is.

Blame the Banksters all you want. They couldn’t have done a damn thing without a compliant government, and that compliant government was elected by people who wanted a paycheck without having to work for it. There is plenty of blame to go around, and linking it solely to the Euro is, at best, seriously oversimplifying events.

              • Not to mention that a country of less than 10 million people put out huge debts to put on the summer Olympics. Those Olympic games were funded by huge debt. Why should other countries pay for horrible decisions like that?

The Olympic venues are now in disgraceful disrepair. There was nothing they could do with the venues, and now the citizens are stuck with the debt. Again, why should other countries pay for the inappropriate debt expenditures of Greece?

          • #4 Nobody will do business with Greece when they revert back to their own currency. Reverting back to their own currency will not cancel the debt.

Just one quick question: So how come Russia is offering a basketful of goodies to the Greeks? You did say “nobody”, no? I would hope you don’t count the Russians amongst your nobodies.

Bankers are professionals who have the final say when it comes to fiscal evaluation, responsibility and conduct. It was their irresponsibility and that malignant urge to push nations into debt that brought about their collective undoing. It’s about time they got a really good poke in the eye.

          • I agree . I have A Greek brother in law and according to him it’s not their fault .

The world picks on the little guy. Always someone else. He’s also A obomabot.

            • It IS their fault. Or, at least, the elected govt’s fault. The Greek govt spent huge with debt. Lots of stuff that was unsustainable. You elect people like that, you’re stuck. Greece spent money they didn’t have on a scale they could never recover from. That’s where the problem comes from.

      2. Keep getting those #10 cans, medical supplies, and self-defense. Keep pepper spray in your cars and hidden in the house, in case someone feels entitled to your car or wallet as things worsen. A firearm is good thing to have, though you minimize potential legal issues if you can get away with just using pepper spray.

        • Scout, while I agree with minimising legal issues my life on the line well, going with the hardest hitting defense available yto me,as things get more twisted really excepting law of common sense other laws will be gone.

          • New England Patriots WIN the Super Bowl!!

Must be a ZOG Conspiracy! New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, is a Jew.

ZOG technologists beamed mind-control rays at Seahawks coaches Bevell and Carroll to call a pass instead of a run by the Beast Marshawn Lynch.

BLAM! Interception by New England Patriots!! Game over, baby! Patriots are the Super Bowl Champs!

            ZOG rules!

            • Funny stuff, I’m certain that it was Jewish mind control who made you write it!

              ZOG is responsible if;
Your penis is too short, your belly is too big, you weigh over 400 lbs. and are only 5 feet tall, your I.Q. is 14, you are a punk, all the guys in your cell block like it when you shower together, your face is one big zit, and your nickname is “Bathhouse Barry”.

              • Yes!

Anything that you’re unhappy about, simply direct all your energy and anger outward towards the Jews and the ZOG conspiracy by telling everyone about it!

You’ll feel so much better after you hate on the Jews!

                • Just for everyone’s information, you can’t find Robert Kraft’s ancestry on any website. There’s not a single site that has both his name and his grandfather’s original last name.

Robert Kenneth Kraft was the son of Harry Kraft and the grandson of Louis Krafchinsky. Louis was born 9-3-1873 in Russia and died 2-8-1955 in Boston.

Robert’s wife was Myra Nathalie Hiatt, who died in 2011. She was the daughter of Jacob Hiatt.

                • The Death Star is the 666 sided star

                • Ok I live in New England and yes the Patriots were stolen from the Sullivan’s. RK had all the connections with banks but more importantly he built that stadium and the parking lots with TAX payer money (communist) yes he is by a long shot. He was put as a place holder and remember one thing they will remind him who actually owns the team.

They stole private LAND and public land for parking!!

I enjoy watching the Pat’s but the man is a hoaxes as an Owner. It s all documented and believe me I am a capitalist but the should the owner not the people that are paying the tax.

                • I feel much much better telling the truth as it is. Try it, the truth will set you free from the Jew Evil. Stop being enslaved by their propaganda and scams.

              • Shucks. Leave me alone dude.

            • At last! Proof positive FINALLY surfaces to reveal the horrific ZOG takeover of America by controlling the NFL! Brilliant! If THIS doesn’t awake the sleeping sheeple to what’s happening, NOTHING will!

              • Canon: a rule or especially a body of rules or principles generally established as valid and fundamental in a field of art or philosophy. Example “canons of polite society”

Cannon: a large artillery gun usually on wheels. Example “armies do not use cannons anymore”

                • You must be that famous linguist, sgt dale, in disguise!

              • Why do you think the NFL that makes Billions gets a 501(c) tax free status? Same ZOG Crowd, Because they allow the US Government to Hijack the NFL network to promote their military commercials, and glorify war. It is their Ideal dumbed down crowd like NASCAR they cater to, to get these morons to sign up and to enlist. Patriotic Rednecks who will fight any cause with a US Flag attached to their uniform. Yeah why does NASCAR also get a 501(c)3 tax free status also?

          • Warchild, I totally hear you. I guess I’m trying to find a balance between being able to blow someone’s brains out without running afoul of law enforcement or sue-happy people.

          • Warchild, some of us cannot get carry permits and must turn to other means of protection when out and about. I carry a Taser that shots the probes out (They actually work). Plus I carry crowd control pepper spray, a hand held stun gun and a Koga and tactical hard knuckle gloves.

I would give my right nut to be able to carry!

Home defense I would NEVER use non-lethal weapons. It’s semi-auto shotgun all the way!

            • Justice, I carry certain self-defense items in my truck with me everywhere I go ever since the Clinton era and I don’t care about legality or illegality of it. I won’t follow any policy which can leave me 100% vulnerable to the animals out there.

            • In my whole life I’ve never felt compelled to ask anyone’s permission to carry whatever firearm I wish. Consider moving to a state where honest people can do as they wish without asking for permission. Or stay and change the laws were you live; good luck with that.

              • Rebel in Idaho,

Part of the reason I moved to Western Maryland was because there is a session movement (to break away from Maryland and become part of West Virginia). It’s one of the strongest in the country.

Maryland is run by Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Montgomery County and Prince Georges County. The rest of Marylander s are tired of these few counties dictating their will.

When the SHTF I will claim KY as my home state and get a carry permit.

        • SM, I understand what you’re sayin’. However, I’ll choose the firearm or blade most every time. If it takes place on the property, no need to call the law, just clean up the mess.

          • I knew there would be a big benefit of living on salt waterfront ! Just until dark and Bob’s yer uncle.

            • wait until dark. Stupid computer keyboard is too sensitive…

            • And use a big cooler, 55 gal drums with a lid and holes punched in the sides, and cement blocks inside to hold it down. Yeah, I’m talking about miles out salt water chumming.

        • The only thing I’m going to use pepper spray on is Chili if I run out of Tabasco or dogs. And only on dogs because I like them and they are not always mean, they are sometimes just confused, about you. People on the other hand are far more dangerous and should respond to reason, If not oh well.

      3. Well if Greece goes for printing its own debt free money then the zionist bankers will soon send over its army, ISIS fighters and then do another Libya.

        • When Obama took office, the debt was 9+ trillion. As in, in the history of this country, it took all presidents to 2008 to amass 9 trillion.

Obama in less than 6 years has doubled that to 18. This fact along with him never being asked the hard questions about it should make it clear trouble lies ahead. Like any government, they’re trying to look good and stave off an economic collapse.

When it takes doubling the debt and adding 8 trillion into existence in such a short period of time… Collapse, chaos, and even war can’t be too far off.

          • SL: Less we forget who holds the purse string!

            • None does now. Congress abdicated it’s responsibility by refusing to pass a budget for over 6 years and relying on continuing resolutions and automatic funding with built in automatic increases (Baseline budgeting). We are now at the point where Congress must pass something to stop government funding.

Obama will just veto anything that does’t give him what he wants and the automatic funding will continue. The only option is for the Republicans to vote to stop it all and shut down the government, which we have now been programmed to believe is a bad thing. Funny, the last few times, I didn’t even notice. Maybe we should shut it down permanently?

        • Would you care to expand on that comment please. I look forward to your reply. Thank you.

          • I think it is obvious Mr P, to any of us who are not in denial, after all these years. what all Mr Smiths comment encompasses.

        • “Well if Greece goes for printing its own debt free money then the zionist bankers will soon send over its army, ISIS fighters and then do another Libya. ”

YOU CAN BET ON THAT ONE, MR. SMITH.

          • If Greece goes for printing its own money … the result would be EXACTLY the same. This is a country that had a debt to gdp ratio of 400% when it defaulted, originally.

The Greek government was and is one of the most corrupt and incompetent governments on earth exceeding all others. The more things change the more they remain the same.

Revelation says that THREE euro nations exit the EU. This is just the beginning of the beginning. 🙁

      4. But….But…..,Greece that along with Cyprus has bank accounts fleeced for said banks can’t leave the union!Iceland was being held hostage by the banks, told the central banks/imf ect to get fucked and look, they are ruined!
Oh,wait,Iceland is now doing fine without the puppets and their masters, tis merely a game of musical chairs, last standing will be hit the hardest but all will take a hit, lessen the pain, let us be the first big country to say”The hell with it!”
May the new economies flourish as the rigged ponzi scheme goes down in flames!

        • Unless new laws are written and put in place to clearly define a balanced budget and what is responsible spending etc, the elite, who control the media and the politicians and those who write laws, will just figure out a new plan for the same old game.
And who will write those laws to protect this new system? You can not have the same old people write the new laws so who then? This is really a question of how do the people take back their nation from the elite. And are the people willing to put up with fiscal discipline? They were in the streets screaming loudly when their government talked about cutbacks.
The entire nation needs to have a mind transfusion using Icelandic donors.
This is a very complicated issue but the bottom line is that when Iceland rebelled, they did it together and en mass, wealthy and poor. That is a tall order and requires a very different mindset from what most people have these days.

          • Government spending is only part of the reform we need. The crazy politicians are only a BY-PRODUCT of a global financial system gone mad. The globalists own the politicians, not the other way around. One first step is to get the money out of politics.

New laws need to SEVERELY restrain the globalist elites where it will hurt the most. The banking industry needs to be put in check…A HARD CHECK. Separate commercial from investment banking again, stop derivatives and hedge funds and any other method of gambling with other people’s money that banksters use.

Pull the dragon’s teeth, and he’ll have no choice but to perform as expected. He’ll no longer be able to intimidate and bully anyone.

Then the rest of us can start clawing back to some semblance of a decent life again.

            • I agree but I would add that another by-product is fat lazy ignorant people that feel entitled to things they didn’t earn and will vote for whomever promises them the most free stuff.

              • Amen.

        • so what about all the junk, useless, toxic, derivative based bonds issued via central banks and the likes of goldman to Greece?

So in other words, they issued debt based bonds and loans (on paper) to Greece…then when Greece defaults on worthless bonds, the ecb rolls in,institutes austerity.seizes islands and other collateral of payment..then still Greece is still in default mode…

Damned..these bankstas make the Corleones appear as nice as the girl scouts..

      5. The Death star my be gone, but you know that the Empire will strike back.
Just maybe this is the second shot heard around the world. We can hope. VIA Revolution!!!!
        Sgt.

        • Alex Jones says full bore revolution worldwide by March 1st! Also CIA operatives have destroyed a secret store of Patrick Swayze DNA to prevent Jurassic Red Dawn from occurring once the revolution begins. Prep now, HURRY!

          • ya gotta love AJ..

spewing total fear porn ad nauseum..

better hurry and buy up all his health goodies and supplements while supplies last before the impending collapse!

            possee

            • Possee, have you hard from Manos?

      6. Who knpws what those cockroaches will pull out of their asses to try to counteract this. I would have never thought they could prolong it this far but they will resort to nefarious, unscrupulous, illegal tactics to keep their ponzi intact as long as possible.

      7. My hope is, is that Greece doesn’t pay back the loans and leaves the euro. This would free them up to determine their own futures. Yes it will be hard for a while, but debt enslaves people. I hope the people of Greece can create a self sustaining society without interference from the criminals.
I do however get enjoyment watching the heads of the central banks and other so-called elites call names and say how bad things will be for the Greeks. They are furious that the interest payments will stop on the money they created out of thin air. Fuck them it was their loans that created all this mess in the first place. Yes it will be hard but freedom is hard to get and harder to keep.

        • If credit is not available to you, you learn to live within your means, same for a country,
Our country and people need to start living within their means, 18,000,000,000,000$+ in debt is far from being within our means, the politicians who created this need to be held accountable, ALL of them!

          • China is going to come looking for their trillions. Too bad for them , not our debt. It was sold to them under fraudulent circumstances. I say death to the federal reserve
, death to the irs and the IMF. Hell with the UN and china too.

            China wants our land???

            Molon Labe then

P.S. Michelle Obola is a man! (a lady boy)

            • I just finished reading Bracken,
IF it ever comes to a situation where the government is trying to give away our lands to satisfy some BS debt, i sure as hell hope enough people stand up and make themselves a total pain in the ass to these assholes foreign and domestic,,,
They are already a problem, but not overtly so, but i have a bad feeling that the day may come,
Rather die fighting than live on my knees,

              • Unfortunately Kula we’ll be the last ones to learn of the deal.

                • At that point its open season on anyone who was complicit, i dont give a crap if youve a family to feed, if someone is part of selling us out they are part of the problem

                  • There is a good reason why some countries do not allow foreigners to own anything in their country. Not land, not big corporations, nothing of national value.

                    We need that here too.

                    • sixpack: What countries would those be? Just asking. 🙂

                    • It’s easy enough to look them up, DK. Start with those countries that the U.S. has an embargo against or a war going on in. The idea being, “if we can’t own/control it, then nobody gets it.

The U.S. has taken over the resources of every one of those countries they attacked. Both Saddam and Castro moved to NATIONALIZE their countries resources, keeping them out of foreign hands…look what they got for it.

EACH AND EVERY INVASION is preceded by some action on the part of their governments to preserve their assets for their people…every single one of them.

Look that up, and you’ll see what I mean.

                    • It’s by no accident that WE are scrambling to pay off China, not the other way around. How much of China’s resources do you think we own? NONE, but they own a large portion or OUR country now.

Let’s not get “investing in” confused with militarily taking over resources of weaker countries, to the detriment of the people of that country…

So far, Only Russia is standing against that in Ukraine, and look how many feathers got ruffled over that.

                    • sixpack: The Chinese do not own a large portion of the country. I call bullshit. Certain Chinese companies own some real estate in the USA, just as American companies own real estate in China. That is a basic premise of the New World Order.

Otherwise, all the Chinese own is our PAPER. LMAO!!! 🙂

                • A number of years ago the US government gave the Long Beach California harbor and surrounding lands to China. It was in repayment of a debt. That harbor is unique and one of the best deep harbors in the world. It is now wholly owned by China.
A couple years ago there were some articles that showed that the US promised the state of Idaho to China in payment of a debt. It is not theirs at this point and I don’t know if that will happen in the future. That info was not available. But the US government has given land to China all across this nation. They are legally Chinese sovereign land and called Chinese development districts. They can legally bring in Chinese nationals without any US say and build factories right here staffed with their citizens. (Or they could call them citizens and factories and build military bases to be 50 Trojan Horses across the US.) The US has no say what happens on that land as it is considered part of China by law!
So what other land deals are being kept quiet? Well how much land is now controlled by the UN under the guise of international oversight of wild lands and UNESCO is a place to start. Your national forests are maybe not yours now.
They have been very busy indeed.

                  • Ensmies foreign and domestic, makes no diff to me, are both still enemies

                  • Much as I dislike these free trade zones given to the Chinese, they are still US sovereign soil. Only diplomatic Embassies are ever considered sovereign soil to the holder, as a courtesy, and even then the Embassy can be ejected and the soil taken back.

                  • We can hunt chinese as easily as blue helmets…

                    • Old Coach and Sixpack, yes, we can take back US soil and it won’t be very long before we’ll be fighting feds, freeloaders, Chinese, Russians, and God knows who else.

              • Kula, I’m the same way and will follow the same strategy. I also have Bracken’s books and highly recommend them to everyone. Very plausible scenarios outlined in those books.

          • Kulafarmer,

I agree. All of those politicians that spent money are traitors. Each and every single one of them deserve the fate of a traitor.

            • You see it even at the local level, muni bonds, these asshats sell bonds to build stuff or cover other debts then the tax payers are on the hook for the dividends and the repayment of the principal, total fucking bullshit,
THIS is why i refuse to go along to get along, I DONT CARE, if i have to live within my means so should government, our local government is just a big crony good old boy network working overtime to expand and fuck the locals,,,,,
The day is coming when its going to backfire and every last one of these muni employees will be screwed, no bennies, no retirement, no paycheck,
Want to raise taxes and imprison those who wont pay?
Youll get fucking ashes and for sure one body to deal with, after that i dont care…

              • Kula, same here, same problems with my local govt. As far as I’m concerned, all politicians are alike. Time to hit ‘RESET’ and start all over from scratch.

              • My state of Maine has one of the highest tax burdens in the country when compared to household income. Everyone here whines about it, but then come November, they pass every single bond issue on the state ballot, every time!!!! I can’t stand it! Everyone thinks it is free money.

          • What about the millions of americans that support them? Is the “public” blameless when they support this type of government?

Try asking your fellow citizens how many would be willing to give up their government subsidy/welfare/social security check. You will find an astonishing few who would end fiscal irresponsibility if it also means it applies to them.

            • RII: Social Security is not a subsidy/welfare of any kind.

It is rightfully the return of and return on the funds conscripted from American citizens with the promise of repayment at retirement; hoping that most of the people whose money was stolen would die before repayment was required.

It was an “investment” by the federal government for “us” while forcibly taking our salaries and wages. That’s MY money!!! 🙂

        • If Greece somehow manages to get out from under the banksters grasp it won’t be long until US troops are sent in and “Free the shit” out of them from a horrible regime who holds no worth of human lives and hates Americans for their freedoms. We have seen time and time again exactly what happens when nations don’t play by bankers rules…either direct conflict or by proxy the bank will get what it wants and most will sit back and cheer on good ol Uncle Sam because they’re Patriots and that’s what good amercans do.

      8. It needs to evolve. A return to a form of sound, not debt based money. The financial system is crying for it and presently threatens all of us because we are at the end of the fiat textbook on debt based economics. The Epilogue so to speak because there is nothing left but debt. It is important the manipulating corrupt greedsters who brought us here have no right to engineer or profit in any reset. They should be lucky to escape with their lives. The 99% could re bond with each other under such a goal. Evolution not revolution. Start by calling the Federal Reserve to task and perform an audit of the Fed as well as all physical gold held in trust for the people because now is the time to count it or lose it. Proceed thus with truth and knowledge. Then hire some Icelandic financial advisers, supply them with as many scaffold builders as they need, go long on hemp rope manufacturers, finally, hook up the reset button. One end to the Peoples Court and the other end to that aforementioned scaffolding and rigging. Notwithstanding the foregoing, press as often as required to control aforementioned corruption. Or,succumb and be overwhelmed by it. Such is now our choice.

        • Jan 28, 2015. The judge accused the government attorneys of perpetrating “a fraud on the court.” Jay Dobyns’ house was burned, and he argued it was arson, carried out by Hell’s Angels, because BATF had blown his cover and denied him protection. It turns out a Justice Dept. attorney told BATF not to reopen the investigation of the arson, lest its finding help Dobyns in his suit against BATF. That was concealed from the judge until the trial.

Justice Department attorneys ordered the agent not to report the threat to the court or he would face repercussions, [Judge] Allegra said.
The judge ordered the seven Justice attorneys who had handled the civil case not to file any further documents — essentially, they were banned from the court. Dobyns’ attorney and a former BATF agent who testified for Dobyns complained they been under “extreme surveillance” for the last sixty days.

      9. If Greece leaves the EU and defaults on their loans, it will cause a brake up the their union, depression in Europe and around the world. Keep a watch on this.

        • No it won’t, it simply means the banks do not get their interest payments. Remember the money was made out thin air. The money they loaned has already caused the inflation it meant to do. They write off more than this all of the time.
They will lose control of a segment of the world population and that is a terrible thought to them.
The other thing it does is encourages other countries to give the finger. But it doesn’t mean the end of anything, unless Greece actually prospers.

      10. has anyone thought to consider Greek people?
Plus the fact the greeks have made their wishes clear?

      11. The Russians have been trying to take control of Greece since the late 1940’s. This included U.S. troops and a Greek Civil War.
The Communists now have control in the form of a Communist Government there. Putin said in a speech last week that if Germany would not underwrite the Greeks, he would! The smart money says this is to encourage Greece to veto any further sanctions against Russia by the EU, maybe even to break off Greece from NATO?

So YOU be the judge, is this a good thing or a bad thing?

On another topic, Today is Feb 2nd., so “Watch out fur then (Ground) Hogs!

        • It’s a leader doing whatever it takes in the best interests of his country. It’s a great leader trying to protect his people and national sovereignty. I’s what a leader was meant to do.

You’re gonna have to twist pretty hard to turn that into a negative, but shills have been doing it for years.

      12. Bravo Greece! Follow through and double down!

      13. Greece will print only a little trickle of fiat funny money unlike the gusher that is the rest of the world and that’ll fix it.
China’s funny money is pure and clean just like commie amerika’s fiat paper and electronic transfers of billions of 00000000000s, clean to the core.
Commies everywhere love fiat funny money. Especially in amerika where our printing presses print cleaner than Greece’s ever will and china mart’ll take em no matter what.
Maybe Greece can get amerika to print their fiat. For a cut, of course.
bommie the commie, he’ll fix it.

      15. I’m not sure ditching the Euro will help the Greek people. Maybe in the long term it will, but they better be sure that if they print up Drachmas, that they will be tradeable on the market for Euros or FRNs or they will starve.

If the Greeks have no access to “petro money”, they will not be able to buy fuel to run their economy. It’s almost a certainty Western banks won’t extend them any credit if they default. It will be worse than a mere depression…people will freeze and starve since Greece has no hydrocarbons of it’s own at this time.

This is more “demand destruction” that diverts the fuel to the Euro core and leaves the peripheral states destitute. Just so the Germans can drive their cars around in circles from petrol station to petrol station in their “waste based” economic model.

Maybe Russia will sell them fuel for Drachmas if they ditch the Euro.

        • Russia would be stupid not to take advantage of the opportunity. It could be a win-win situation.

      16. I hope Manos is OK.

“hey. Since yesterday, two billion euros were withdrawn from banks. We are talking for the real thing John. Today, 7 armoured trucks were stationed outside the central bank branch here. People are in panic, and the departing government is increasing this panic with artificial means and tv commercials. One thing is certain. By Monday we are going to have a leftist government whixh opposses the austerity measures and the PIIGS politics deriving from Merckels party. We just returned from the grocery store, finishing with our last provisions and preps. May God help us. I’ll keep you informed as often as i can.”

            • Possee, thank you for that update on Manos. I’m glad to hear he’s still surviving.

      17. The European Union is a step towards a ‘super-state’ and is a threat to democracy in Europe and an insult to all servicemen and women whom served in WW2. The people of Europe have been perniciously mislead to for decades by the mainstream political class, media and the corporations and one day – it will collapse.

The elite in Europe, led by Chancellor Merkel(Germany) have resisted Greece leaving the Eurozone as it’ll create a domino effect with others leaving, and hasten the breakup.

The US should be in no doubt with regards to the greed and efforts of the multi-nationals to get their way, at any cost.

        Take care:)

        • Vote UKIP. X .

      18. If they leave the euro that is good it shows they don’t want to be part of the central bank. Sounds good. You can suffer now a little or a lot later. It doesn’t affect the us anyway what are we gonna bail them out or something why the hell would America care about the euro bank. The us is not the worlds bank not yet anyway.

      19. “Greece will not be wiped out by leaving the euro currency–it will be freed to rebuilt itself with prudent fiscal management and policies that reward investment and penalize risky borrowing, speculation and corruption”

Right. I’m sure the new Socialist government will fix things.

      20. So, in a nutshell, Greece is going to have to practice austerity in order to avoid austerity. Good luck with that.
