Durang Kidd: Logic is not the strong suit of most folks and logic requires proof, not as you said, unsubstantiated rumors. Rumors belong to freightened children and others with limited IQs. I admire MLK as a leader trying a different approach then other black leaders before him. He was influenced by Gandhi’s approach to non-violent resistance. Gandhi, as you may be aware, won out over the British tyranny in India and South Africa. Obama has proven that races can be stereotyped and that they do it to them selves. The blacks had a chance and a second chance to express that it’s the content of one’s character that matters and they freely chose that it’s the color of one’s skin that matters. To say that I’m disappointed is an understatement. The damage that’s been done to the character of the black people is a travesty to legacy of MLK’s narrative. It will be a long time before I can look at a black person and not see a racist and know that I’m being judge not on the content of my character but on the color of my skin.

“Racial equality” is nothing more than another way for government to decide for us how someone else thinks we should think and act. It really is nothing different than the current gun control rhetoric.
It is all designed to get us to accept more laws that dictate and control our behavior. It is a tool to shame people into going along to get along.
But passing laws does not change the way a person thinks. That kind of change must come from within and it has to be VOLUNTARY.
My Dad was about as racist as it gets and I grew up living with a devout racist. BUT as I became an adult, who could think for myself, I CHOSE what I wanted to think and what I wanted to stand for, not him. I cannot blame how I think on my parents because I was born with my own brain. I didn’t require a law to help me decide what to think and the law didn’t change me…I MADE MY OWN CHOICES.
Just as “you can’t fix stupid”, you can’t legislate how to think. We need to reject all such legislation and think for ourselves. Period.

Communist Beliefs and Connections
Well friends, he is not a legitimate reverend, he is not a bona fide PhD, and his name isn’t really “Martin Luther King, Jr.” What’s left? Just a sexual degenerate, an America-hating Communist, and a criminal betrayer of even the interests of his own people.
On Labor Day, 1957, a special meeting was attended by Martin Luther King and four others at a strange institution called the Highlander Folk School in Monteagle, Tennessee. The Highlander Folk School was a Communist front, having been founded by Myles Horton (Communist Party organizer for Tennessee) and Don West (Communist Party organizer for North Carolina). The leaders of this meeting with King were the aforementioned Horton and West, along with Abner Berry and James Dumbrowski, all open and acknowledged members of the Communist Party, USA. The agenda of the meeting was a plan to tour the Southern states to initiate demonstrations and riots.
From 1955 to 1960, Martin Luther King’s associate, advisor, and personal secretary was one Bayard Rustin. In 1936 Rustin joined the Young Communist League at New York City College. Convicted of draft-dodging, he went to prison for two years in 1944. On January 23, 1953 the “Los Angeles Times” reported his conviction and sentencing to jail for 60 days for lewd vagrancy and homosexual perversion. Rustin attended the 16th Convention of the Communist Party, USA in February, 1957. One month later, he and King founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, or SCLC for short. The president of the SCLC was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The vice-president of the SCLC was the Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth, who was also the president of an identified Communist front known as the Southern Conference Educational Fund, an organization whose field director, a Mr. Carl Braden, was simultaneously a national sponsor of the Fair Play for Cuba Committee, of which you may have heard. The program director of the SCLC was the Reverend Andrew Young, in more recent years Jimmy Carter’s ambassador to the UN and mayor of Atlanta. Young, by the way, was trained at the Highlander Folk School, previously mentioned.

Bayard Rustin’s replacement in 1961 as secretary and advisor to King was Jack O’Dell, also known as Hunter Pitts O’Dell. According to official records, in 1962 Jack O’Dell was a member of the National Committee of the Communist Party, USA. He had been listed as a Communist Party member as early as 1956. O’Dell was also given the job of acting executive director for SCLC activities for the entire Southeast, according to the St. Louis “Globe-Democrat – -of October 26, 1962. At that time, there were still some patriots in the press corps, and word of O’Dell’s party membership became known.
What did King do? Shortly after the negative news reports, King fired O’Dell with much fanfare. And he then, without the fanfare, “immediately hired him again- – as director of the New York office of the SCLC, as confirmed by the “Richmond News-Leader – -of September 27, 1963. In 1963 a Black man from Monroe, North Carolina named Robert Williams made a trip to Peking, China. Exactly 20 days before King’s 1963 march on Washington, Williams successfully urged Mao Tse-Tung to speak out on behalf of King’s movement. Mr. Williams was also around this time maintaining his primary residence in Cuba, from which he made regular broadcasts to the southern US, three times a week, from high-power AM transmitters in Havana under the title “Radio Free Dixie.” In these broadcasts, he urged violent attacks by Blacks against White Americans.
During this period, Williams wrote a book entitled “Negroes With Guns.” The writer of the foreword for this book? None other than Martin Luther King, Jr. It is also interesting to note that the editors and publishers of this book were to a man all supporters of the infamous Fair Play for Cuba Committee.
According to King’s biographer and sympathizer David J. Garrow, “King privately described himself as a Marxist.” In his 1981 book, “The FBI and Martin Luther King, Jr.”, Garrow quotes King as saying in SCLC staff meetings, “…we have moved into a new era, which must be an era of revolution…. The whole structure of American life must be changed…. We are engaged in the class struggle.”
Jewish Communist Stanley Levison can best be described as King’s behind-the-scenes “handler.” Levison, who had for years been in charge of the secret funnelling of Soviet funds to the Communist Party, USA, was King’s mentor and was actually the brains behind many of King’s more successful ploys. It was Levison who edited King’s book, “Stride Toward Freedom.” It was Levison who arranged for a publisher. Levison even prepared King’s income tax returns! It was Levison who really controlled the fund-raising and agitation activities of the SCLC. Levison wrote many of King’s speeches. King described Levison as one of his “closest friends.”
FBI: King Bought Sex With SCLC Money
The Federal Bureau of Investigation had for many years been aware of Stanley Levison’s Communist activities. It was Levison’s close association with King that brought about the initial FBI interest in King.
Lest you be tempted to believe the controlled media’s lie about “racists” in the FBI being out to “get” King, you should be aware that the man most responsible for the FBI’s probe of King was Assistant Director William C. Sullivan. Sullivan describes himself as a liberal, and says that initially “I was one hundred per cent for King…because I saw him as an effective and badly needed leader for the Black people in their desire for civil rights.” The probe of King not only confirmed their suspicions about King’s Communist beliefs and associations, but it also revealed King to be a despicable hypocrite, an immoral degenerate, and a worthless charlatan.
According to Assistant Director Sullivan, who had direct access to the surveillance files on King which are denied the American people, King had embezzled or misapplied substantial amounts of money contributed to the “civil rights” movement. King used SCLC funds to pay for liquor, and numerous prostitutes both Black and White, who were brought to his hotel rooms, often two at a time, for drunken sex parties which sometimes lasted for several days. These types of activities were the norm for King’s speaking and organizing tours.
In fact, an outfit called The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee, which is putting on display the two bedrooms from the Lorraine Motel where King stayed the night before he was shot, has declined to depict in any way the “occupants – -of those rooms. That “according to exhibit designer Gerard Eisterhold “would be “close to blasphemy.” The reason? Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spent his last night on Earth having sex with two women at the motel and physically beating and abusing a third.
Sullivan also stated that King had alienated the affections of numerous married women. According to Sullivan, who in 30 years with the Bureau hadáseen everything there was to be seen of the seamy side of life, King was one of only seven people he had ever encountered who was such a total degenerate.
Noting the violence that almost invariably attended King’s supposedly “non-violent” marches, Sullivan’s probe revealed a very different King from the carefully crafted public image. King welcomed members of many different Black groups as members of his SCLC, many of them advocates and practitioners of violence. King’s only admonition on the subject was that they should embrace “tactical nonviolence.”
Sullivan also relates an incident in which King met in a financial conference with Communist Party representatives, not knowing that one of the participants was an infiltrator actually working for the FBI.
J. Edgar Hoover personally saw to it that documented information on King’s Communist connections was provided to the President and to Congress. And conclusive information from FBI files was also provided to major newspapers and news wire services. But were the American people informed of King’s real nature? No, for even in the 1960s, the fix was in “the controlled media and the bought politicians were bound and determined to push their racial mixing program on America. King was their man and nothing was going to get in their way. With a few minor exceptions, these facts have been kept from the American people. The pro-King propaganda machine grinds on, and it is even reported that a serious proposal has been made to add some of King’s writings as a new book in the Bible.
Ladies and gentlemen, the purpose of this radio program is far greater than to prove to you the immorality and subversion of this man called King. I want you to start to think for yourselves. I want you to consider this: What are the forces and motivation behind the controlled media’s active promotion of King? What does it tell you about our politicians when you see them, almost without exception, falling all over themselves to honor King as a national hero? What does it tell you about our society when any public criticism of this moral leper and Communist functionary is considered grounds for dismissal? What does it tell you about the controlled media when you see how they have successfully suppressed the truth and held out a picture of King that can only be described as a colossal lie? You need to think, my fellow Americans. You desperately need to wake up.

The street once named “Union Ave.” in Portland Oregon has been renamed “Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd”. It is a poor, primarily black section of Portland. It is the historically worst prostitution and drug zone in the city, rivaled only by the central city section of downtown Portland, referred to as “Old Town”, where the bulk of the homeless population resides.
The former “39th Ave.” has now been renamed to “Cezar Chavez Blvd.” as well.
After his death he became a major historical icon for the Latino community, and for liberals generally, symbolizing support for workers and for Hispanic power based on grass roots organizing and his slogan “Sí, se puede” (Spanish for “Yes, it is possible” or, roughly, “Yes, it can be done”). His birthday, March 31, has become Cesar Chavez Day, a state holiday in California, Colorado, and Texas.

As a human being, MLK had flaws. Name one person that does not. That said, MLK was spot on about judging a person by content of character, rather than by skin color.

Also there remains an old guard of race baiting “leaders” like Sharpton and Jackson who dishonor King’s memory. It will likely take a couple of more generations for the discord to melt away, but one day it will.

Bigotry is simply born among people with their own problems of low Self-esteem. Such people permit themselves to be dominated by groups that typically demonize another groups, claiming moral superiority. They use rhetoric, false history, banners, slogans, symbols, and the followers immerse their own pathetic selves into the group which masks their own feelings of gross inadequacy. It’s one of the reasons why, as a liberty minded individualist, I shun groups and institutions that claim the moral high ground and insist that their way is he “only way” . These groups grow and thrive on small minds.
Dockside philosopher Eric Hoffer wrote a great book on this phenomena, entitled “True Believer”. It offers a very detailed analysis of this groupthink mentality.
As social animals, we humans will always have a propensity to organize into groups. But any group intolerant of diversity of thought is no group for me. Without reasoned argument and discussion, conducted with civility, no group is worth joining.
A problem I have with most people these days is lack of willingness to think critically, to research, to read, then form a conclusion after a thorough review of all the facts, not just the facts they cull out to support a narrow world view.
Personally, for example, I have studied history and economics my whole life, the Keynesian school, the Austrian School, Hegel Marx, Adam Smith. Also a lot of study about the decline and fall of Empires, Greece, Rome, Spain, France, Britain.
If I could point to but one cause of all of our troubles, it would come down to one flaw of the ego which the Greeks identified more than two millennia ago. That flaw is always “hubris” or arrogant pride. May work for some for a short while. But the fall is always inevitable. Anybody spouting black pride, white pride, nationalistic pride, religious pride, political party pride, trophy wife pride, Corvette or Ferrari pride and yes, even pride in being a rich guy or poor working class stiff, BEWARE!
The framers of our Constitution recognized this, and were hopeful this pride could be checked by trying to structure safeguards into the Constitution. But pride has even co- opted this.
So this, my friends, is the human condition. Too many of us fancy ourselves gods. That ‘s why this will always be earth, not heaven. Those expecting anything else will always wallow in disappointment. The one thing I can do is to make my best effort in trying to be selfless, a challenging task to be sure. If anything else, I might be able to make better immediate world for my family and close friends, trying not to expect anything in return.
It’s a gross miscarriage of judgment to say MLK had flaws. He was an adulterer, a thief, an embezzler, a buyer of prostitutes, and a man who beat women. It would be foolish to judge him based on his “I have a dream” speech. MLK’s carefully crafted image is just as false as Obama’s.
The flaw with our civilization is not arrogant pride, it is ‘limits to growth’. Which by the way, happens to be the title of an excellent book written by Richard Heinberg.

In fact, on April 4, 1968, when the incident took place, my Dad and I were only 3 blocks away from the lorraine Motel where it happened. We were in a 1964 Ford Galaxy on our way home from the downtown area when all of a sudden rioting broke out right where we were at. We were sitting at a traffic light that was red when a black male in his 20s ran up to our car and knocked out our back window with a baseball bat. He then came around to the passenger side where I was sitting trying to open the door. Dad shouted, “Hold on tight, son!”, punched the accelerator, and went through the red light. The boy was trying to hold on to the door handle like a fool, but eventually let go and fell back to the ground rolling away. We didn’t stop to see about his condition; all we cared about was getting out of there alive. We don’t know if the black male survived even to this day. Dad and I had an unspoken agreement never to talk about it. Although what he did might have technically been illegal, his action saved my life that day. There were a lot of things going on during the civil rights marches that never made the news, period. Even in the 60s, the MSM was putting out nothing but propaganda about King, the marches, etc. Everyone he used in those marches, regardless of what city he was in, were not even local blacks. They were from other parts of the country and every one that was arrested was proven to have a previous criminal record. King was never what he was made out to be. He was a womanizer and was even violent himself at times. He had known communists in his organization. Google “Highlander Folk School” which was a known communist school he attended back in the 50s. Us older folk with memories of that time, seem to have a very different view of the guy then those who only got to know him thru the public school version of that history.
Regardless of his personal attributes and home life, he was and is a symbol of freedom. He stood up for what he believed to be right. And that alone deserves him everlasting respect and a firm handshake.
The man is far from my idol, it is the symbol that he has become that I admire. You will come to know that EVERYONE has a side of them that others would frown upon.
I would again have to respectfully disagree. I believe that everyone should be judged not for being a “symbol”, but what they actually did with their life. That includes their personal life. If a person does not respect their partner in life, blows off their wedding vows, ect. I can not ignore those things. We dishonor all good people if we choose to elevate the lowlifes by saying they somehow are a symbol of something good. Example: Ronald Reagan -vs- Bill Clinton, many ways to argue who might have been a better President, but no one can argue who was the better person. When any person has the additude of “sure I am married, but what the hell?” they are not deserving of respect, no matter how much history is rewritten to create a “symbol”.

Don’t believe anyone about the real name of MLK and his father. I just checked the 1930 Census and found that he was listed as Marvin L. King, Jr., and his father was listed as Marvin L. King. No mistake. Perfectly clear handwriting. In the 1940 Census you find Marvin L. King with his son Martin L. King (no junior). No mistake. Perfectly clear handwriting. The address in both cases was 501 Auburn Avenue, Atlanta, GA.
Information found online claims that his father changed their names from Michael L. after a 1934 trip to Germany. Maybe MLK’s father thought the Reformation was started by Marvin Luther, then discovered his mistake on the trip, and then changed Junior’s name to Martin.
Then, too, they weren’t very clear on others in the family. In 1930, there was a sister-in-law listed named Ida Worthen. In 1940, she miraculously turned into his aunt.
By the way, in 1940, the Kings had a black servant, Carrie Rutland.

You have to wonder if his assassination was arranged by his own supporters or handlers. He got to where he served his purposes. He was more useful dead than alive to the “civil rights” industry. They managed to hide all the dirt after he died. A judge sealed the FBI records. Martin Luther King day is a day the coronation of BO should not have taken place on. BO is not for blacks like he says he is for, they already brought in 96% of the vote, yet what has he done for blacks or anyone else other than those in power. I have had the luxury of spending time traveling/deploying/working across +1/2 this planet…I have set foot in North Africa…all across Europe & in the Med countries. I have been to a few East European countries, prior to the fall of communism.

Gunsmith, I understand your position better now. My late wife was a refugee from Castro’s Cuba; she was half-black and half-Hispanic. She was one of the most extraordinary people ever in my life. She was intelligent,loving, caring, had one of the best personalities of anyone you would ever meet. But anyone who tried to cross her would catch hell. If she ever went off on someone in Spanish, it was time to back off and give her some time to cool off. Hell has no fury like the wrath of a woman from Cuba. I should know; I had six wonderful years with her before losing her to a drunk driver, who was a Haitian. The Haitian got his due not too long afterwards. I’ve never found another woman worth having for a 2nd wife. I’m still open to the idea even though I’m getting on in years, but the chances of it are fading away. I’m a widower too. My late first wife was a kidney transplant patient. She was the sweetest woman I ever knew. She died after a long illness when she was 30. That was 20 years ago. I met my second wife in church. She’s a wonderful woman too. I helped raise her son. He was 4 when we got married. He’s 23 now. I’m very happy in my second marriage but I still grieve the loss of my first wife. I feel like I’m 99% healed but I’ll never be 100% whole. I feel like I have two wives and one of them is missing.
