Editor’s Comment: The Middle Class is mostly now a memory. Statistically, the majority of all American workers make a sum that puts them only modestly above the poverty line. While there are many bright, intelligent and skilled people in the United States, there are relatively few opportunities.

Far too many overqualified people for the good jobs that are available. Many learn to lower their expectations and do with less, while far too many learn the bitter rewards of dependence, living off of government benefits for “free.”

Goodbye Middle Class: 51 Percent Of All American Workers Make Less Than 30,000 Dollars A Year

    by Michael Snyder

We just got more evidence that the middle class in America is dying.  According to brand new numbers that were just released by the Social Security Administration, 51 percent of all workers in the United States make less than $30,000 a year.  Let that number sink in for a moment.  You can’t support a middle class family in America today on just $2,500 a month – especially after taxes are taken out.  And yet more than half of all workers in this country make less than that each month.  In order to have a thriving middle class, you have got to have an economy that produces lots of middle class jobs, and that simply is not happening in America today.

You can find the report that the Social Security Administration just released right here.  The following are some of the numbers that really stood out for me…

-38 percent of all American workers made less than $20,000 last year.

-51 percent of all American workers made less than $30,000 last year.

-62 percent of all American workers made less than $40,000 last year.

-71 percent of all American workers made less than $50,000 last year.

That first number is truly staggering.  The federal poverty level for a family of five is $28,410, and yet almost 40 percent of all American workers do not even bring in $20,000 a year.

If you worked a full-time job at $10 an hour all year long with two weeks off, you would make approximately $20,000.  This should tell you something about the quality of the jobs that our economy is producing at this point.

And of course the numbers above are only for those that are actually working.  As I discussed just recently, there are 7.9 million working age Americans that are “officially unemployed” right now and another 94.7 million working age Americans that are considered to be “not in the labor force”.  When you add those two numbers together, you get a grand total of 102.6 million working age Americans that do not have a job right now.

So many people that I know are barely scraping by right now.  Many families have to fight tooth and nail just to make it from month to month, and there are lots of Americans that find themselves sinking deeper and deeper into debt.

If you can believe it, about a quarter of the country actually has a negative net worth right now.

What that means is that if you have no debt and you also have ten dollars in your pocket that gives you a greater net worth than about 25 percent of the entire country.  The following comes from a recent piece by Simon Black

Credit Suisse estimates that 25% of Americans are in this situation of having a negative net-worth.

“If you’ve no debts and have $10 in your pocket you have more wealth than 25% of Americans. More than 25% of Americans have collectively that is.”

The thing is– not only did the government create the incentives, but they set the standard.

With a net worth of negative $60 trillion, US citizens are just following dutifully in the government’s footsteps.

As a nation we are flat broke and most of us are living paycheck to paycheck.  It has been estimated that it takes approximately $50,000 a year to support a middle class lifestyle for a family of four in the U.S. today, and so the fact that 71 percent of all workers make less than that amount shows how difficult it is for families that try to get by with just a single breadwinner.

Needless to say, a tremendous squeeze has been put on the middle class.  In many families, both the husband and the wife are working as hard as they can, but it is still not enough.  With each passing day, more Americans are losing their spots in the middle class and this has pushed government dependence to an all-time high.  According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 49 percent of all Americans now live in a home that receives money from the government each month.

Sadly, the trends that are destroying the middle class in America just continue to accelerate.

With a huge assist from the Republican leadership in Congress, Barack Obama recently completed negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership.  Also known as Obamatrade, this insidious new treaty is going to cover nations that collectively account for 40 percent of global GDP.  Just like NAFTA, this treaty will result in the loss of thousands of businesses and millions of good paying American jobs.  Let us hope and pray that Congress somehow votes it down.

Another thing that is working against the middle class is the fact that technology is increasingly taking over our jobs.  With each passing year, it becomes cheaper and more efficient to have computers, robots and machines do things that humans once did.

Eventually, there will be very few things that humans will be able to do more cheaply and more efficiently than computers, robots and machines.  How will most of us make a living when that happens?

The robopocalypse for workers may be inevitable. In this vision of the future, super-smart machines will best humans in pretty much every task. A few of us will own the machines, a few will work a bitwhile the rest will live off a government-provided income… the most common job in most U.S. states probably will no longer be truck driver.

For decades, we have been training our young people to have the goal of “getting a job” once they get out into the real world.  But in America today there are not nearly enough good jobs to go around, and this crisis is only going to accelerate as we move into the future.

I do not believe that it is wise to pin your future on a corporation that could replace you with a foreign worker or a machine the moment that it becomes expedient to do so.  We need to start thinking differently, because the paradigms that worked in the past are fundamentally breaking down.

So what advice would you give to a young adult today that is looking toward the future?

      1. Well who is buying all the effing new cars? Unreal. I hear all this bad news but I see people with new phones and cars everywhere. WTF. I guess it ain’t bad enough quite yet.

        • Government employees. I know a lot of cops, Firemen, and other civil servants who make more than 100k per year and retire with pensions that would make The typical middle/upper management employee drool.

          • ED
Not to say you are not correct, but I only get $2,200 a month and I retired in 2006 as a Sgt. If you figure that out that is only around $25,000 a year. That is why I have to work part time. I know that the upper management make a lot more. But for us guys on the line we don’t.
            Sgt.

            • Sgt – as much as a love your posts, and would wish you your own personal island in Tahiti, in one sense I am glad you are working part time – I assume in law enforcement? Why? Because it is people like you, a true peace officer, constitutionalist, and common sense kind of guy, that will do wonders for the up and coming law enforcement people.

I know police work is difficult, dirty and dangerous, but if people like you are around to show the newbies how to be peace officers, not LEOs, that would be a good thing!

Besides, it would be more fulfilling that just sauntering around golf courses – IMHO, we were designed by our Creator to **serve** – both Him and others. Stories are legion about people who retire, then die early. Better to burn out than rust out.

Just my two cents. I **always** read what you post – really appreciate it. I am a dual US/Canadian citizen, living, like you, in the Socialist Workers’ Dystopia of Illinois; I have a neighbor and close friend who was very senior as an IL. state trooper – great guy, conservative, constitutionalist, etc. Probably most of us here at SHTF would be right on board with him. We talk a lot about police work, and I know how difficult it can be. Yes, there are bad ones out there, but there are a lot of good ones, too. For what it is worth, I just hope you are around longer to make sure some of those new guys are true officers of the peace, not one of the bad ones. It **is** a tough job!

              • Test
                Yes still a Peace Officer.
Thanks for the kind words. Yes I’m staying so I can work with the newbies.
                Sgt.

              • SGT: Not pointed at you personally. And I am fortunate compared to most people I know. My house is paid off and I have money in the bank. But just something to put into perspective. I personally had a small business for 25 years then I retired. For the last 15 years I had 5-8 million in gross sales. Worked my butt off. Many years of 18 hour days and weekends and no vacation for decades. I profited about 10% which isn’t bad and 50% of that went for various taxes. For most of that time I was able to put $1000 per month into a savings account depending on the economy. Some years I was rolling in the dough and other years I was searching for coins under the couch cushions. I saved and scrimped and never even changed houses. I live in the same house I had when I started my business. There were bad years when I had to borrow from my savings. That account went to pay for my kids education, retirement, a condo and some surgery for my wife when she got sick. I had planed on living on the interest from the savings when I retired. However there is no interest today so I have tried to invest it into safe investments where I can make money to live while retired. Mostly I bought some houses and manage them and rent them. It’s a lot of work and even more stress than running a company. Plus I have to pay for health care and taxes on the income I generate. Your $2200 per month is more than I can net on my investment. I could sell everything and just live on the proceeds but that will probably run out long before I pass away.
On the other hand my son is a state trooper. Brings home $1000 per week and is expecting 75% of his income for the rest of his life after he retires in 7 years. He has no savings, a back yard full of broken 4×4’s and snowmobiles, one kid who the state paid for university because he is a trooper. He pays 2.5% of his retirement costs which are 110. I suppose that that means that the state is paying another $4300 per month into his retirement.
My daughter has a normal 401k plan. She has put in $500+ mostly every month for the past 20 years. She has barely $200k in it. Less than was paid into it. She cant even retire and withdraw money from it until she is 59. At the rate she is going she will not have enough for retirement.
My brother was a union electrician. He retired and took his retirement money(250k) and did nothing. 10 years later he was broke. The money was gone and h never did a thing but pay is bills.
Most people I know have nothing for retirement. They will need to work until the day they die. Its not that they are broke. They have homes and cars and things. But they have no retirement. You still need a car and a home after you retire. So you need income.
So don’t feel too bad about your 2200 per month. It is much better than the vast majority of the population. And as a government employee you probably didnt have to pay for it.

            • Work is for people who dont know how to fish. You must own the means of production in a capitalistic economy; even a crony capitalistic economy, no matter how small the scale.

You must create your own job; your own business. Use the talent God gave you. We all have gifts. Exploit yours. 🙂

              • DK, have you ever owned your own business? It is a 24/7 ordeal that you are absolutely married to! Ya you might make the biggest bux but your enslavement to it isn’t worth it unless you live to work. Many people are happy being thier own boss but I for one will pass on the enslavement. I work when I want and do side stuff and do just fine and have some freedom. The hours of work I see people in business work is insane. Besides all the red tape and crap that goes with it. Might want to think that one over again….

                • Besides DK, I want to have the time to enjoy my life and be able to do things while I am young enough to do it. What good is spending your life working yourself to death so that when you are too old to enjoy it you can spend it all on doctors and feel like shit?

I have never heard ANYONE on their deathbed say “I WISH I HAD SPENT MORE TIME AT WORK” Live your life with less money and more enjoyment while you can. Or spend it killing yourself to chase the almighty dollar lol.

                  • Maybe you can be the richest man in the graveyard 😛

                    • Genius, perhaps DK was suggesting a way to be FREE using
your God-given talents – which doesn’t necessarily imply
working yourself to death; on the contrary, working SMART and being the BEST in one’s field, maybe some passive income to boot, and not relying on somebody else to give you a “job”, but rather hire yourself and make your own hours – working as much or as little as you desire – creating your own destiny – that is true (((((freedom)))))

                  • My father, on HIS deathbed, said he HATED retirement and wished you had worked more … there are those people who really do LOVE to work, gives them purpose and a reason to LIVE.

              • I agree, DK.

Amazes me how many people moan and groan about their pay or their job…..and keep right on doing the same thing.

We built our first house (1975) with $10k we saved from my 4 years in the Army. Wife always worked some job (factory, clerical, whatever she could find),we banked her pay, lived on mine. (E-5 when I got out). Borrowed another 10k, and built that house. Sold it 8 years later for 50k, built the house we live in now for cash. Never had a personal home mortgage, saved a ton of interest over the years.

I stay in the construction trades, working for myself, she became a school teacher (later a supervisor….put herself thru school, part time, to Doc level) We saved, bought investment property, I built rental houses on the side.

Now, I get 900/mo SS (lot of my income over the years was unearned income) She gets 1550 SS + $2600/mo State pension, plus her health insurance paid. We have a couple of mortgages we hold on properties that bring in another 1500/mo. About 75k/yr.

Our place is paid for, and produces most of our food (we put a 300lb pig in the freezer today), all our energy (solar), water, heat (wood). Got plenty in savings in various forms, life is pretty good at our house.

              • DK – thank you!

          • I have a sister in law – nice enough person – but she retired early around 56 or 57 yrs old, as a regular teacher in the People’s Socialist Thugocracy of Illinois, and makes 7 freaking THOUSAND a month doing nothing – perhaps for up to the next half a century.

I am stuck in this state until a family situation resolved, then I am leaving for a low tax state. All the socialists can then live off of one another. I will have to work until I am 70 as it is, and I don’t intend to pay for other peoples’ laziness.

            • That’s why Chicago is broke.

          • I sure do wish my retired Fireman DH (also named Ed) could bring that drool home.

But alas, tis not so. Only $1757 and 66cents a month.

            Let’s see now… that is… ugh… $21091 and 92 cents yrly.

My job is to “Pinch Those Pennies till they SQUEAL”

            and I do 🙂

        • and then there is the..what I refer to as the silver spoon crowd.

There are a lot of early baby boomers out there that have worked all their lives and never saw the need for big fancy houses and new cars every three years. They saved and invested their money.

Now, after they have retired and aren’t facing huge tax burdens for cashing out some of those investments, they are wanting to see their hard earned dollars go to, “what they see as”, a good investment again so they give tens of thousand s to their kids and grandkids in the form of new cars and down payments on nicer houses.

I have said it before and i’ll say it again, it is “old money”.
And to make an educated guess/hypothesis, I’d say at least 50% of those 10,000 that are retiring each and every day, have that same situation.

They live comfortably on their SS checks, especially if both husband and wife worked, and they are both still living. The mindset is, “We had rather see our investments being put to good use while we are still alive.”

We know many grandparents that are doing just that; watching their grand kids driving around in new cars that they bought for them. it is more common than most would believe.

And, there is the situations like my niece is in. She graduated High school last year. Got a good paying job, for a high school graduate, $12 hourly, and still lives at home as an only child. Just sprang for a brand new ride after driving a semi clunker for three years. She has no aspirations to get married, because all she sees is immature brats in the dating pool. She is one of the most beautiful and smartest, easy going, girls i have seen in many, many years. Got to brag a little, no honestly, my sister and brother in law don’t even realize how blessed they are. a bonus, is she isn’t in to tats and piercings either.

eppe knows what i am talking about.

          • Amen Passin…

I sometimes wonder how I ended up with a great wife, 2 beautiful, intelligent daughters, after all the bad things I have done in life. Maybe trying to be a ‘good’ man in the last 3 decades has made a difference.
            Karma?
Our email group got a picture of my youngest when she won.
            Still trips me out…

            Be well all…

            • O\T, my industrious and beautiful wife (who looks like Sophia Lorens in the 60’s) has a side biz doing estate sales getting 30% of the proceeds.
Question is, we can get a ’81-2 International Harvester 4 cyl diesel for cheap (2.5k-3.5k). Was driven weekly till 6 months ago.
Anyone had any experience with these???

              • There is also a ’57-8 Ranchero that needs to be restored, in good shape if anyone is interested (no details)…

Bless Mac for all he has running here…

                • I cannot tell everyone how lucky we are being able to communicate within this sphere…

                  • You people need a joke…

What men and women say and what they really mean:

What a woman says, what she really means…

                    • I did not intend to offend anyone, I thought it was true…

        • Gontoolong; Over 60% of new cars are leased so nobody owns those. Its cheaper in the short run to lease than to buy.

          • Have been in the banking business for 25 years…..trust me when I say the only way “most” are able to afford those new vehicles is the lease option. With the cost of those vehicles, monthly payments run as much as or more than a mortgage payment. Most people are maxed out credit wise.

        • Sub prime auto loans, have super high interest, lots of options out there,
Was trying to buy a used truck last week, the sales guy said he could get me into a new truck (65k+) no problem.
I just said no thanks, but i know tons of people doing it, is ridiculous. Wouldnt take on debt for anything, at this point everything is paid for so why stress…

        • Yes, Gonetoolong that’s true but many of them are in debt. The number of fairly new cars being repossessed and people who have to choose between buying more minutes for their cellphone or eating lunch is quickly rising.

        • Gonetoolong – a large percentage of those new cars you see on the road are LEASED …

        • They’re buying stuff based on artificially low down payments and monthly stretched out over ridiculous periods of time. Many car loans are now 6 and 7 year loans. By the time the car is paid off, it’s got so many miles, and is so depreciated out, it has almost zero trade-in value. Phones have no value, except what you can get on eBay.

        • Gonetoolong, they don’t own all those new cars your seeing them drive, they are only renting them, better known as a lease. Along with those leases they are also living with a mountain of debt, most American family’s are now carrying on average, $15,000.00 dollars in credit card debt. So you see, they are not living better then you, they are living in debt to support all that junk they think is important. You are the smart one, you are a person who lives within your means, not going into debt buying junk. Only buying the items you need to support your family with CASH, now that’s the smart way to live.

        • That’s why the U.S is in trillions of dollars debt.

Don’t you love it when those making over $100 000 ask for pay-rises and get them and the level of your income shrinks!

      2. And most are in debt up to thier eyeballs..

        • The middle class started dying when it became necessary for the wife to leave the house and children and get a job to make ends meet.

          • Started in the late 1960s. In the 1950s only the Husband had a job. That why Rosie the Riveter was such a big deal. It was way outside cultural norms.

In the 1980s the husband and wife worked. Now the husband has two jobs and the wife has two jobs.

            The kids raise themselves.

            • In contrast to losing our middle class and being poor, I stumbled upon this web site for “Gold-To-Go” where people can buy gold in a VENDING MACHINE, like a candy bar.

Check it out. I thought it was rather “in-your-face”

              ht tp://www.gold-to-go.com/

            • Actually the kids are raised by the Public Fool System
And it’s no wonder we have the problems with quite a few generations from those time lines
Just try sitting down with the teachers and staff of your local public schools
If it doesn’t scare you , than it should be apauling to you on so many levels
If you truly live your kids and want something better for them , make the sacrifice and seek alternative education options

              • “Love your kids “

                • I do love my 4 legged kids, the 2 legged ones I sold for medical experiments lol.

                  • Your spunk sucks.

                    • Glad you commented on the taste test lol 😛

              • 1. Punctuation
                2. then, not than
                3. appalling, not apauling
                4. proofreading is your friend.
                5. EotS makes his own case.

        • eppe, the key is to live BELOW your means. I could have a new truck, bigger house, credit cards, all kinds of toys but I do not nor will I ever sign on to that stupid shit! I work to live not live to work hence I actually only have to work 1/2 the year. I enjoy my time and prep and have fun. I have no debt and minimal bills and do sidework. I love to spend time learning new things instead of being a sports junkie or other stupid waste of time crap. I spend a lot of time just thinking of stuff and designing and making them. I am fortunate that I have a job that I can actually choose when I want to work. It took me years to get to this position and now I am doing very well. We are not rich or even what the stats say is middle class but we have time which is more valuable than chasing money. I have enough to finance my little projects and I love that. Chasing the Joneses it a morons game, life isn’t about what you own. I could be happy in a trailer as long as I can do my projects. 🙂

          • G, correct, live below what you take in.
I try to invest in seven different arenas, as King Soloman did.
I have done decent using that method.
My best has been real estate, but others have been both good and bad.
Live and learn, with age comes wisdom, if you are always learning from your mistakes…

Thanks for the apple pie, WAS getting sweet feed shine flavored with cotton candy.
            That WAS addictive….

            • I put a cup of Captain Morgan in my apple pie/shine recipe. All the spices gives it a smoother flavor.

              • POP, what if we took 190% and added Neem fruit?

Get a buzz and fix up our own INTERNAL system???

                Got me thinking…

                Thanks, MAC…

                • Tell everyone the truth, I have often wondered why they have not put a vitamin tablet equalivent worth in a quart of booze???

One way of getting your essentials….
                  lol…

Where, why, when, why and how did humanity start???

      3. “So what advice would you give to a young adult today that is looking toward the future?”

Unless your going to go all the way to something like an MD a skilled trade that people need in the US is the way to go. Geography in the US means a lot too. In Florida skilled labor is a dime a dozen as too many want to live there. What pays $15 / hr W/O benefits pays $40 / hr with benefits in the oil patch.

        • what advice would you give?

Start robbing and stealing. Everybody else is, even the corporations and the government.

When you get caught you can claim racism, then the police are the bad guys and you can get a jackpot jury judgement.

God bless America (wipes tear from my eye)

        • There aint too many of those oil patch jobs left and most of them didn’t pay $40 to begin with. I did a lot of oil field work and these das most people I know doing it are unemployed or just waiting for that pink slip.

          • Since the drop in a BBL of oil by 50% your probably correct.

      4. But the CEO’s are making 550X that? Aren’t we lucky we are living in the land of the free and home of the brave?

btw….there are some family that don’t even need to count their income since they are the elitist of the elite and they control the rest of slaves.

So keep chanting USA USA and watch the masters to murder innocents worldwide.

      5. Whatever happened to his writing style of ” 50 reasons we’re all gonna die soon?” Maybe everybody should write gloom and doom blogs and collect revenue from advertisers interested in selling their survival products.

        • Get off M Snyder’s ass. he is a good family man with Christian values and is doing something good with his life.

How many can say the same?
Who is willing to throw stones at someone that helps people and makes an honest living at it?

Even if he has a soft spot for _ewish people, what skin is it off the _ew baiters asses?

some people just like to hate and offend, and group all people together under that banner of hate. it is sad.

          • Yeah Andy, don’t you dare make fun of Shemitah boy. All those doom porners are going to be right, someday. Pissin will cast you into the hillbilly lake o’ stupidity for any future infractions so watch out or he’ll have ole god come down here and ” gitcha!”

            • So, our favorite self appointed preacher is demonstrating his undying stupidity yet again, what a surprise. Let me guess, everybody who doesn’t agree with him will eternally damned by ” God” himself. Some of these religious fruitcakes should be locked up for everyone else’s safety,he sounds like the kind you’ll hear about on the news someday.

              • Why don’t you pukes get a life. All you do is spout stupid shit that just shows how much hate you live with everyday of your pathetic lives. I don’t give a flying rat’s as who agrees or doesn’t agree with my writings.

Take your stupid lies and opinions and shove em’, trolls.

                • Oh, that’s right, I keep forgetting that you’re the ” happiest” person you know. Yep, it always comes through in any comment you make, you’re definitely ” happy” alright, a million laughs of blood thirsty god going to ” git” everyone who don’t like ole pissin none!

                  • I do have fun and am happy go lucky. I even have fun throwing back the dung that you keep spewing.

See, most people here that give a shit, can see right through your little piss ant game wwti. You use different monikers so it looks like you have a few followers that are on board with your “passin is a psycho” rant.

It isn’t all that hard to figure out. No one says anything really bad about me until ….Billy,Karl, Jesus Speaks to Me/ He Knows Everything, and one other puke name, comes up conveniently all at the same time.

You are such a twisted childish evil person. It is no wonder that you have no friends.

I have had many evil people come against me, and I am still standing. Evil loves to taunt a Christian, that is all they have of anything that resembles a life. The demons that come against us are the same. the only thing that brings them pleasure is coming against Christians.

With just the mention of Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour…all demons around the area, head for the people they can hide out inside of, like you, swamp rat. They can not stand the heat from the love of Jesus residing inside a true Christian.

Hey, want some more rope? Feel it burning as it slides across your throat?

                    • Sure, bring on all the rope you like. I’ll never have anything to fear from a deluded old hillbilly truck driver. I think I know what brings on your ” visitations” from god, it’s when you eat your favorite Dinty Moore Beef Barf that you LOVE to save 50 cents a can on.{ Yep, we clean ’em out when they put it on sale!} or maybe the shit you love in your Whopper salad that you can’t get enough of. The only reason you started spewing your religious drivel is because you’re a lonely, frightened, and disabled old man. You hate almost everybody in the world today, this is your way of getting attention, like an infant who must scream and cry in order to make it’s presence known. When people see through your bullshit and point out what you really are, you react predictably, ” Oh Yeah!, well, you just wait, god will git ya fer messin with ole pissin” And FYI, I do believe in god, but it’s not the my way or molten lake o’ far bullshit you spew, so yes little boy, by all means, bring on your ” rope”, it’s obviously working to drive me away isn’t it?

      6. So what advice would you give to a young adult today that is looking toward the future?…

        Save your money.
Don’t be so anxious to get your own place.
        Use protection.
        Learn a trade.
        Always be armed.

        • My advise:

Get a government job. They pay twice what the private sector pays. You don’t have to accomplish anything. You can’t get fired. You have cushy benefits.

You won’t get downsized during bad times.

I knew a guy from the great depression times. He was the head of the local paper mill in my town in the late 1920s. He had a nice job with a nice salary, not the rip off salary CEOs get now, but 2 to 3 times that of a skilled worker.

He quit his job and got a job as a postmaster of the town that paid significantly less. He said he did that because he knew the depression was forthcoming.

10 months later the paper mill closed and the Depression began. But he was fine with his government job.

          • JS, govt. jobs are only for women and minority groups these days. No one’s govt. hires white males anymore.

            • What Braveheart said – didn’t you get the memo Mr. Stiner?
We are WHITE, which means we are fucking PRIVILEGED.

Yep, just got my Privilege Card in the mail the other day, I’m pretty stoked about it … ya me!

              [sarcasm off]

            • BH, especially those over 50!

              • Genius….trick them to call you for an interview by using name on your resume either as:

Mohammad or something with Stien or Feld at the end.

Then go to the interview and show them your white face and laugh at their faces.

        • Use protection?

Fricking get a vasectomy and store that stuff in a freezer somewhere. If they keep refusing to release male birth control, fix that thing so it functions correctly on your own.

          • How about chastity until marriage, and monogamy afterwards.

Yes it IS difficult. Perhaps the most difficult thing you will ever do.

It is also worth it, for your OWN personal maturity and for your own walk with your Creator.

And I’ll say it again. It IS very hard. Steve Arterburn has a programme out there called Every Man’s Battle as one place to start. But this is not impossible. Don’t let others sell you that same bill of goods that comes from the same place as the TV advertisers.

        • Save you money in penny jar. Better to have it at home, the bank are not paying interest anyway.

Look for clothes at Goodwill or resale shops.(may find old stuff that says made in the USA. Just for something show off.)
          Cook at home.
Start a window garden. (small Veg that are fresh)

      7. Ben: And also tell them there is no future in breeding kids, as America is trashed; a fallen empire. As for buying a house? live simple, maybe land in the country, a simple basic house, stay out of debt.

      8. The federal poverty level for a family of five is $28,410…

        FIVE?

        Umm…

Nudges finger upwards over an over…

        Ahem.

Three is impossible on that unless you’re into cannibalism and then it’s two. Just saying.

      9. It has been estimated that it takes approximately $50,000 a year to support a middle class lifestyle for a family of four in the U.S. today,

        AFTER taxes.

        In public schools.

        In B*ttf*ck Nebraska…

      10. Let us hope and pray that Congress somehow votes it down.

Translation: let us hope and pray that the rich actually WANT to pay premium prices for their labor.

        Keep prayin’. Go riiiight ahead.

      11. 30k/yr
Yet the government shamelessly sticks their fingers in your pocket to pluck out your hard earned cash then slaps you in the face at every turn.

      12. The robopocalypse for workers may be inevitable. In this vision of the future, super-smart machines will best humans in pretty much every task. A few of us will own the machines, a few will work a bit… while the rest.. SOYLENT GREEN… *cough*

Hey but just think how much easier it is to write laws for robots. It would be a liberal’s wet dream. You direct them to do something and they just do it, no screw ups, no independent thought… no desires of any kind…

No grey areas. You boys can finally have the “micromanaged straight up into our colons” level of control you’ve always climaxed to the thought of in your private moments.

        • Advice to young people: Get trained as a robot tech/repairman. I’m quite sure it will pay well and have tons of job security. Or open a funeral home/ creamatorium. I shit you not, these will be some of the best jobs for the common folk.

          • Work robots? You will have unlimited opportunities at Hillary convention!

          • Down the road is a plant that advertises 31 bux an hour for mechanics with full benefits. And I live in a low wage state. Someone has to fix this robotic shit when it breaks lol.

      13. Ever heard of a ‘NEEM’ tree?
I had before, but it seems to be a miracle plant…
Might plant a few at the compound…

        ht tp://jimrogers1.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2015-10-19T06:52:00-07:00&max-results=3

        • eppe, Ya I have heard of neem and it was all good. Speaking of good I have a recipe 🙂
          you will need…
          48oz. high proof shine
          4 tablespoons cinnamon powder
          2 tablespoons nutmeg
1 can concentrated frozen apple juice
Take half the shine and stir in the cinnamon and nutmeg let sit 2 hours stirring occasionally.
Filter the spiced shine through a coffee filter to remove sediment. Combine the 2 halves of the shine and add 1 can of frozen apple juice and mix well. Makes 2 quarts of apple pie shine that is absolutely great! Serve over ice in a glass. 😛

          • Do not use grain mash! Only sugar water mash for nuetral taste.

            • For the ultimate Apple Pie Shine, use the recipe Genius just gave and use real homemade Apple Brandy, instead of sugar head shine.

And another tip, let it sit overnight after the two hours of stirring occasionally, before straining…that’s what a friend told me…kinda.

      14. As ACRU Senior Fellow Robert Knight wrote September 13, 2015 in The Washington Times.

The late Joseph Sobran said, “It makes no difference that socialism’s actual record is terribly bloody; socialism is forever judged by its promises and supposed possibilities, while capitalism is judged by its worst cases” and “Socialism begins with a profound misreading of human nature —- that we are naturally “good” and just need ever more government to help us evolve toward perfection on earth. It ends with coercion, and lots of it.”

Not that this would change the mind of a single “Yes we can/Yes we have no bananas” chanter!

      15. after getting laid off from Boeing in 1993 i spent next 10yr living on less then $20,000 and that was as a machinest and welder, next 7yr on less then $30,000…..took a pay cut for a better schedule now only work 36hrs a week 4 days a week,… but during all this i paid off my home have all paid for cars and back up supplies….you can do just fine with the right focus. Just say no to cable TV, just say no to any car or truck you can’t pay cash for.

        • Cars are by far the biggest transfer of wealth. At around age 60, my wife and I together, have spent a grand total of maybe 65k on cars, TOTAL. We manage with one car, and virtually always have with some exceptions (and then we got a beater as the second one, for me). Don’t get me wrong. I”ll take a Beamer. I just won’t pay for it. All my neighbors have his and hers upscale SUVs, and generally one of them takes the train to work, so the car just sits in the driveway. No wonder people are broke.

Besides, I’m on the hiway in my pedestrian vanilla car, looking over at some guy in his Jag. He’s doing the same speed, listening to the same music, stuck in the same traffic jam. Who cares?

As the saying goes, we buy things we don’t really need, with money we don’t have, to impress people we don’t know or care about.

        • Used to work with a guy who bought a new car in college in 1964, I think a Corvair, and kept it maintained and running until he retired in 2008. Never had another car, he did pay cash for a nice RV the year before he retired.

He figured he saved about $150,000 by keeping that car on the road.

        • Amen to that. People can manage OK if they are willing to adjust their “I wants” and pay attention to what is really necessary. First thing many college graduates do when they land their first job is buy a new vehicle. They do not worry about paying off their student loan and getting out of debt….they take on more debt! Not using those critical thinking skills, but they are following the example set by our government and most of their friends, and possible parents in some cases. Quit acting like a herd animal and think for yourself. Don’t take on the debt of a new car. Quit changing homes like you change clothes. Eat at home…it is healthier and you are not exposed to everyone else’s germs. And do you really need a phone that costs $80 or more per month? Want to reduce food expenses? Grow a garden and buy your meat from local farmers directly. And there is a learning curve so start small and pay attention.

      16. this world is winding up discern the times all the saved where predestined to be conformed to the image of Jesus every body else is just serving the god of this world and they are marching right to hell.

      17. True in 1916… and true today

        1. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
        2. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
        3. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
        4. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
        5. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man’s initiative and independence.
        6. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
        7. You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
        8. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
        9. You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
        10. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they will not do for themselves.

Incorrectly attributed to Abraham Lincoln. Actually, written in 1916 by the Reverend William Boetcker, a Presbyterian clergyman and pamphlet writer. The confusion stemmed from a pamphlet published in 1942 entitled Lincoln on Limitations. The pamphlet had a Lincoln quote on one side and these statements by the Boetcker on the other side.

        • 11. You cannot fix stupid.
          12. You cannot become intelligent and self thinking in a govt. run school system.
          13. You cannot be healthy eating artificial/nutrient free food.
          14. You cannot be free relying on others to provide for you.
          15. You will be enslaved as long as you allow outsiders to issue and control your money.

      18. When you add up the freebies the takers get its close to $40,000. Why work? I tell the youngens to get a skill(HVAC repair) or mechanic….things people need. Its not sexy but you won’t go hungry.

      19. Connecting the dots as to the future for our young people. There isn’t one. We’re looking at the end soon. I’m not just being negative. This is it. You can go down a list with everything thats unfolding and whats to come. Right now could very well be the quiet before the storm. Its almost the SHTF time. Take care everyone.

      20. The fact is that life in the US for roughly the 30 year period post WWII was an aberration that was not sustainable. The US held 90% of the worlds gold, self sufficient with energy and was actually an exporter of oil with an intact manufacturing base unscathed by war. As the world rebuilt things changed. It wasn’t WWII that pulled the US out of the Great Depression but rather its aftermath.

Rebuilding the previously developed world is one thing. Bringing up a few billion out of poverty and having them compete without protective tariffs is another. Its devastating for US workers.

        • Its crazy how things have changed, there used to be All sorts of stuff made in the USA,
Now theres almost nothing, if there is a war, we are screwed. The industrial revolution was part of what built this country, and in those days folks were a lot tougher.

          • Yep Kula, they were tougher but not any smarter evidently. The industrial age had to come to robotic replacement eventually. It is the natural evolution of technology. Now all these people are no longer needed to support the system so it will also be natural evolution to cull the herd. I don’t recall any useless eaters on star trek or the jetsons.

            • Genius

The use of robotics will decimate China as they have 1.2+ billion to feed and are very dependent on assembly line type jobs.

The implications of technological advancement is coming too rapidly for society. Too powerful weapons in too immature national control. Too dynamic transfer of wealth with far too much in too few hands. Its creating social / economic entropy.

The above is not just a fertilizer and seed for global war and revolution but also a catalyst to accelerate it.

              • K2, yup, they will build they’re own demise just as we did. War seems the only solution to rid the planet of excess eaters.

                • I tend to look at homo sapiens as people who’s lives have value, not useless eaters as referred to by Henry Kissinger.

We’re being turned into an insect colony.

          • I have brought this up before on this forum.
I used to do work to automate things.
I can design and program systems to replace people,
            saving millions of dollars.
No one has ever considered what to do with all the
            people displaced.
It will happen, everywhere, even in China. People as workers are a real pain.
The computer/robot, I program will not complain, will work
non-stop, give you 3 sigma quality, they very rarely get sick, and when it does, it only needs a literate, high school graduate that took some shop classes to repair.
            Welcome to the new world.

            • Relik, exactly! Like I said, robotics is the job of the future. Or medical stuff(the masses getting sick from all the shit they poison you with). And being a funeral parlor for all the masses that will die from it. Sad but fookin true!

          • Kulafarmer

“if there is a war, we are screwed. ”

Interestingly TPTB seen to it that the USA maintains enough industry to maintain the military. We have a dozen fleet nuclear powered aircraft carriers. This more than equals the rest of the world, friend and foe’ combined. From a qualitative standpoint US equipment is not just superior but a quantum leap above the others. The track record of the now outdated F-15 is zero losses in air to air combat to over 100 victories. Tanks? No M1A1 has ever lost a crew man in a tank to tank battle. The day of 12 million under arms like WWII have gone the way of the bow and arrow as platoon of 40 with communications and air power overhead pack more effective firepower than a division of 15,000 in WWII.

The US is a global power with global reach.

The loss of industry is the loss of wealth creation and its requiring the expansion of “the empire” into foreign lands to facilitate the ever expanding use of the US dollar to maintain its value. This requires an ever increasing use of the military to “enforce” this arrangement.

            • Good interpretation of the situation K2
Our drones can knock out more hardware and personell and do it without anyone on our side even lifting a weapon,
Its going to be interesting, dont think we will skate by with our soil spared though.

              • You still need someone to sift through the rubble and confirm the dead and local more Intel.

      21. Oh boo-hoo again. This is nothing more than free market capitalism. You people are just another bunch of whiney Obamite socialist commies.

      22. The TPP is pretty much a done deal, it is close to being enacted. Nothing outside mass protest can delay it’s passage, and that would be beat down viciously by the government’s goon squads, your local police who took an oath to serve and protect. That is to protect the traitors at the top! The collapse is moving ahead steady according to long laid out plans. Too many people. Want to eat and live, bow down to your owners. Dissent will not be tolerated. Without the armed population we are all sitting ducks. I consider myself lucky to be alive past 65. I comment on a Bucs sports site that has a place to post comments outside sports. I talk about what people there call lunatic conspiracy theories, such as the events of 9-11. I’m amazed how dumbed down and bothered people are about the truth behind the obvious lies.

        • aljamo, welcome to the club!

          • A site you may like is whatonearthishappening.com it is owned by Mark Passio a FORMER Priest in the church of satan. He tells it like it is with perspective from the dark ones who rule over us. He is extremely blunt and has logic that cannot be refuted. He now teaches others to think for themselves and what kind of mindset the satanic ones have and how they view people. A very informative and thought provoking paradigm shattering site to listen to. I will add the site to my rely thing so just click on my name it should be red colored.

      23. My father and I had a conversation many years ago. He could not figure out why the middle class had it so tuff.

I told him simple when you have a democrat in office they tax the middle class so much you only have two class of people the rich and the poor. When you have a republican in office the taxes are less so you have three classes of people the rich the middle class the poor. You have to remember this took place back in 1965 when I was 11 years old.

It sure as hell doesn’t look like that now, you can’t tell the difference between the two anymore. The all just want to tax us to death.

I don’t mind helping people but I’m tired of taking care of the Zombies and Leaches. They are why there is no middle class any more.

Right now there just might be three classes of people(as I’m thinking about it). The haves (rich) the providers (what is left of the middle class) and the takers (the zombies and leaches the 6th generation welfare turds.)

But be happy my friends God will raise the sun in the east and we will have another day to be pushed further backwards.

        Sgt.

        • Sarge, may I reply to this in your post “I don’t mind helping people but I’m tired of taking care of the Zombies and Leaches. They are why there is no middle class any more.”

No one should be forced to pay for others period. The REAL reason you pay for this shit and why there is no middle class is because we are CONTROLLED by the fed reserve. THEY dictate our policies and make shit like mandatory taxes to further indebt us and gain control. Can you name anyone who went up against them and lived? All the income tax you pay goes straight to paying the interest on the debt. Everything else is run on credit. This is not designed to end well for the people. Attack the root of the tree not the branches it controls. Nothing will ever change until the root is dead.

          • Wow Genius, I am surprised your comment wasn’t censored. How dare you tell the truth.

            GOOD JOB BTW.

          • G
As I agree with you, and the Zombies and Leaches are there to also take everything they can.
            Sgt.

          • Uncle Sam and his credit card.

Good way to explain it to my grand kids.

            Thank you Sir.

            • We all know where the problem lies. We can continue to piss and moan until the cows come home…they hardly ever do on their own, but it will not change anything.

All the “atta boys and atta girls” for actually saying what 90% of the regulars already know, doesn’t change anything.
Yea,yea, yea.. the _ew banksters are the problem. We know it already. Stop beating a dead horse and expecting something to be different tomorrow, ( not at you grandee).

Accept it, and make changes that help your family and yourselves on a personal level, because that is all anyone can do.

There are not enough like minded people that will actually try to do anything beyond these internet sites, to try and fix the problem.

Who will come against the beast system. Go it alone and they will crush you like a bug. There is only one way out and it has been already determined and told, thousands of years ago, so all we can do is read it and prepare accordingly.

As far as explaining to kids, that is needed and should be handled very carefully. They need to be prepared for what is coming upon the earth at an early age, but they must know God loves them and they need to stay focused on Jesus Christ, and not the world and what the world tells them.

              • Yeah, let’s make sure they know god ” loves” them before he decides to wipe them all out, yeah, good thinking, let’s tell them that god is going to kill them all off but he’ll do it with ” love” of course. I can tell you’ve never had any kids, no need to ask why, it’s obvious.

      24. I concur with Toolmaker Rex, everything is backward, inside out, and upside down. I have hard time trying to figure out what keeps it going.

      25. People work for dollars and benefits, robots work for electrons and don’t care about benefits.

Which do you think has the more promising future?

      26. Sarge, on the takers, those are being added on every month from other parts of the world. The foreigners are zombies and leaches.

      27. Why give advise. Because it goes in one ear and out the other.

        • Because I like to drink and give advice and make people think lol 😛

          • Some of my best ideas have been born while drinkin’ and thinkin’ 🙂

            • Genius.

“Thought it was a good idea at the time”.

              ;0)

      28. Where I live, people using EBT cards drive $60,000 Diesel SUV’s and quad cab pickups. My newest car is a 2002 Golf Diesel. There is a fashion of wearing a gold bracelet on ladies wrists. They run $400 each, I have stood in line with women using WIC and they had several bracelets.
The loss of the middle class is due to Democrats. LBJ was right he’ll have those people voting Democrat for a long time. Damn his soul, he never considered the damage he would do to the workers and producers.

        • He knew exactly what he was doing as I’m sure he was told by his owners. Ever heard the saying “nothing in politics happens by accident”?

        • Yea, dont you love that, i work every day, and it chaps my ass when im standing in line with my family pack of S&S Saimein and a bag of tortillas and some barely literate bitch with 3 kids is paying for a cart full of steaks and fresh Ahi with an EBT card,,,,
101 reasons why i will not participate in their game,,,
I work my hardest knowing im spending every dime i bring in on my farm,,,
If the Democrats and republicrats want to give everybody freebies they can pay for it themselves

          • Kula, I have very high respect for you and what you do. I salute you and wish others could have your mindset. You are a grain of gold in the global goldpan of sand. Keep on keepin on!

            • Amen to you Kula

            • Genius – you need to edit that webpage address [what on earth is happening]

you have www(,) comma instead of a period in it’s place!

      29. In answer to your question, “What advice would you give a young person today?” Here’s my answer, but it only applies to certain areas of the country. There is one constant that never changes, no matter how bad the economy gets. (Like liquor sales, for instance, which is always a good bet.) The rich will ALWAYS spend on their boats, their golf, and their swimming pools. ALWAYS!
So there you are. Go south, young man,and learn the maintenance of any part of any of these, and you will always have work. It will take a couple of years of hard work learning the trade, but it will pay off!
I started cleaning swimming pools two years ago, worked hard and learned all about them. Now, I am a Pool Mechanic, will always have work, and am currently making $25/hr., with all the overtime I can handle.
Learn Diesel Mechanics, and the yachting world is wide open to you!
Yes, that’s right, you have to have a good work ethic to succeed, but it’s right there waiting for you.
If you really want it, you’ll do it. If you really don’t want it, you’ll always find an excuse not to do it.

        • “The rich will ALWAYS spend on their boats”

That’s not necessarily so. I worked a few years at a major yacht manufacturer, and there were a couple of really bad slowdowns because of the bad economy and rising fuel prices. This was in the early 1980s. Hundreds of us were laid off each time. Many of the rich started considering yachts a bad investment. I do some work on the side for someone who is very wealthy and owns a huge yacht. He has it rented out when he’s not actually using it, so it doesn’t cost him that much to keep. I think he may actually make money on it.

          • Of course, I was only talking about building yachts. There are millions of yachts, and they aren’t going away soon. The company I worked for started out in the 1950s. Their very first yacht is still afloat and being used.

      30. If you have no training or education then just get on the dole you will make $40,000 that way and have time to spend with your kids. That’s ten thousand more than working without skills. Working is for schlepps nowadays. Nobody respects workers anymore. Life is short you have very few years with your kids while they are little. People keep electing the free shit progressives so take advantage of it if your eligible you paid for it anyway. But be smart and stock pile stuff for the day the free gravy train stops. You gotta game the system it’s falling apart anyhow. I don’t do it but I don’t blame smart people from doing it I just haven’t smartened up yet. Programs are for anyone that meets income guidelines. My state is a total welfare state it’s no thing for the supermarket to be cleaned out by the end of the day on the first of the month. I don’t go around that time. There is no point working without skills or a degree unless it’s on your own farm.

        • My wife and I read and got a big kick out of Ass Hats post. And the sad thing is truer words have never been printed or spoken. He is spot on.

      31. Firstly, those people who aren’t making the money needed to live, should use what money they have to buy land and start farming. At least they will be able to feed themselves. Before the ” modern life” started, people actually grew their own food and made the things they needed. I don’t think we will ever see the U.S. return to the prosperous era we had in the 50s thru the 80s. Second, if people would just stop buying the stuff that these corporations make, and what the exporters send over here from China. Their money would dry up and put them out of business.

        • I don’t measure wealth in money or goods. Everyone has too much stuff. Look at all the storage rental places in the country. I measure wealth in time. Why send your productive years working? Your selling the best years of you life to somebody else. Work for yourself. Find a problem that needs solving and solve it and make money. look around there is always someone who is doing more with less income than you have? Even in the very worst economy there are individuals who are very successful. I know a guy has a wore out backhoe and old dump truck. He makes a very good living digging graves. and rents a tent folding chairs and green outdoor carpet for a good price. When he works he makes a $1000 per day. And he has plenty of leisure time. And No shortage of customers.

      32. All this is a lie. With welfare and tax credits every single parent is making atleast 50k a year.
