2. Let me tell you a brief story of my “white privilege.”
a.. At university, since my parents made *just* enough, there was no covering of my tuition, as poorer folks often had (those that had the motivation to actually attempt further schooling). This led, for example, to my second year of university, where I had to work FULL time at night (yes, eight hours, five days a week), and going to school full time (actually, a slight overload) during the day. This was a community college that I had to hitch-hike to. White privilege indeed.
b.. I am a dual US and Canadian citizen. I took the Canadian government exam, and scored in the 94th percentile – and I actually had driven up from a couple hours away, so arrived JUST as the test was being passed out, so had no instructions, or even time to do anything more than quickly grab a seat. Let me also note that I had two very senior technical designations (Novell CNE and CNI), knew virtually all the common software being used, had two graduate degrees, teaching certification in three provinces (takes five years in Canada to get certified to teach), and had actually taught on the post-secondary level for the first five years of my career. For my CNI designation, there were only about a thousand in the whole world at the time of my exam. I would routinely apply to positions both with the federal government, as I lived in the nation’s capital, as well as provincially. Out of hundreds and hundreds of applications, I only ONCE got a call to maybe, possibly interview in a VERY rural part of Saskatchewan where absolutely NOBODY wanted to go; but even then, I never got a second call. The real problem? I was a white, anglophone male. More “white privilege,” presumably.
c.. Returning to the US, I one time applied to be an assistant dean, for which I was VERY well qualified, at one of the Chicago community colleges. I was one of three finalists. I don’t know which of the other two got the job, but I do know upon leaving my interview, there was a black woman waiting for the next interview slot. I can guess who got it. But what is significant is that the hiring dean wrote a very unusual personal letter to me, in so many words apologizing to me for not being hired. Again, more “white privilege” presumably.
d.. I could go on with other stories, but I think you get the gist.

5. Colour-blindness? Your guest spoke about that, too. Of course, we can all see the hue of one’s skin. I can also see if they are blond, brunette, redhead or raven haired, tall or short, too. But I certainly am colour-blind relative to what is really meant by this statement, viz., am I judging by the content of their character of the colour of their skin…. as you-know-who enjoined us to do, and as is prescribed by the Bible itself.

American shores, total, while, in contrast, Dr. Robert Davis of Ohio State says up to 1.25 million Europeans were taken as slaves by Muslims to their lands during roughly same period (3 times as many!), with their corsairs even reaching as far as Iceland, does that mean Muslims owe white Europeans $42 trillion (3x as much)? Also, will white descendants of indentured servants get some reparations, or should descendants of blacks who owned other blacks as slaves owe reparations, such as Anthony Johnson (c. 1600 – 1670), a black Angolan who was one of the earlier slave owners legally recognized by the Colony of Virginia courts. Do we owe Russia money (the word “Slav” as in “Slavic language” derives from the same root as our word for slave (from late 13c., “a person who is the chattel or property of another,” from Old French esclave (13c.), in turn derived from Medieval Latin Sclavus “slave” – so used in this secondary sense because of the many Slavs sold into slavery by conquering peoples), or perhaps the Irish get reparations, for by the 1630’s, Ireland was the primary source of slaves in the English slave trade. In fact, a 1637 a census showed that 69% of the total population of Montserrat were Irish slaves. Even Scientific American has questioned why the Irish surnames have such a strong presence in places such as Montserrat, Jamaica, St. Kitts, etc. Once Iceland gets paid for its citizens taken as slaves to Muslim North Africa, and Turkey, does Iceland then owe Ireland money, in that perhaps half the population genetically speaking was Irish slaves, taken by Vikings?? Oh yes, I forgot.: Muslims also took many English as slaves, with perhaps 3 – 5,000 in Algiers alone. 7. A simple, and true, illustration of what the media sees as “systemic racism” will illustrate this clearly. A few years ago, we had a neighbor about a block away or so, a black man, that I really only knew by face. From what little I knew, he seemed professional, courteous, pleasant, kept his yard nice, and everything you could ask of a good neighbor. One day, after we set up our summer vacation, we phoned several teenagers, including his son, to give a price for mowing our lawn. The father drove his son over, and his son, a very courteous, respectable young man, provided his price. His father, probably not recognizing me, called out through the window that he lived just down the road, possibly thinking I was suspicious of him. I wasn’t, I didn’t care one whit. All people have God’s imago dei in them, and I treat them as such. We got three or four estimates for the yard work, and the black man’s son was by far the very highest, so we didn’t choose him. But here is the key point: Given the poisoning that the leftist media has done with attempts to foment race wars, I have often wondered since if that very civil, pleasant black father thought I didn’t choose his son out of “latent or systemic racism.” Truth is, the son’s price was close to double the lowest bid, which I took. I would wager a goodly sum of money that it very well could have been interpreted as racist. And, worse, how many times have innocent interchanges like this occurred, being totally misconstrued.
8. Similarly, there is another black neighbor, a further few doors down, whom I know again only by sight. I work out of a home office, and this man routinely drives by without a muffler. Been going on for a year or more. No idea why he isn’t stopped. He then gets to the stop sign near my house, and routinely floors it out of the stop sign, making it even worse. He goes up and down the road multiple times a day. I can barely look at him, because it is so infantile. Yet, I would bet he would read the look on my face as “systemic racism,” when it is rather just revulsion at such infantile behaviour.

As Heather McDonald, WSJ journalist wrote at https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-myth-of-systemic-police-racism-11591119883?mod=itp_wsj&am p;mod=&mod=djemITP_h , in the Myth of Systemic Police Racism, while we certainly DO need to hold rogue officers liable – and that Chauvin guy had had, I think, 17 complaints already against him! – the WSJ writer notes that “African-Americans made up 53% of known homicide offenders in the U.S. and commit about 60% of robberies, though they are 13% of the population.” Any word on that? And speaking of this, Asian Americans are incarcerated at a MUCH, much lesser proportion than white Americans. Is that also “systemic racism?” One analysis of news reports I heard recently is that the average viewer is NINE times more likely to hear of police brutality against blacks than white. This article in the LA Times is typical of the disingenuity: Getting killed by police is a leading cause of death for young black men in America. This title is so puerile it is barely worth addressing… “a” leading cause? What does that mean? Is it number 1? Number 19? Do they dare talk about black on black homicides (think Chicago!)? The truth is that there is NO epidemic of racially biased police killings, black citizens are NOT more likely to be killed by police than white, and any American of any colour is more likely to be killed by lightning than police shootings. In the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, an article by Joseph Cesario of Michigan State and David Johnson of Univ. of Maryland – see here – the authors note “We found that the race of the officer doesn’t matter when it comes to predicting whether black or white citizens are shot,” Cesario said. “If anything, black citizens are more likely to have been shot by black officers, but this is because black officers are drawn from the same population that they police. So, the more black citizens there are in a community, the more black police officers there are… The vast majority – between 90% and 95% – of the civilians shot by officers were actively attacking police or other citizens when they were shot. Ninety percent also were armed with a weapon when they were shot.” Many of the fatal shootings involve issues of mental health. But it appears the nuanced truth found in this scientifically researched article is beyond the ken of the “if it bleeds it leads” politically correct fake news.

11. A retired cop friend of mine wrote: “This (the George Floyd shooting) cop (Chauvin) should have been fired years ago. The picture of him kneeling on the deceased’s neck says it all. SCOTUS said almost 40 years ago that choke holds were illegal.
