An initiative to split the state of California into three different states has gathered enough support via signatures to qualify as a ballot measure in November. This is one important milestone for those who want to break away from the harsh Communist policies of much of the Golden State.
Venture capitalist Tim Draper said backers of what he has dubbed “CAL 3” would submit petitions with more than 600,000 signatures to election officials next week. The initiative needs signatures from 365,880 registered voters – five percent of the total votes cast for governor in the 2014 election – to qualify for the ballot. And according to 10 News, Draper said there’s a lot of support for this.
Breaking the state into three separate states would still require congressional approval. But Draper is hopeful. “This is an unprecedented show of support on behalf of every corner of California to create three state governments that emphasize representation, responsiveness, reliability, and regional identity,” Draper said.
One proposed state would be called California or a name to be chosen by its residents after a split. It would consist of Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey and San Benito counties. The second state, Southern California or a name to be chosen by its residents, would consist of Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Fresno, Tulare, Inyo, Madera and Mono counties. The remaining 40 counties would be part of the state of Northern California or a name chosen by its residents. Northern California and parts of southern Oregon have often referred to some of the areas as the State of Jefferson – the “51st state” named after the third president of The United States.
But without congressional approval, no state will be allowed to succeed and gain sovereignty. That hasn’t stopped Draper, however. He said he conceived the initiative out of a belief that “the citizens of the whole state would be better served by three smaller state governments while preserving the historical boundaries of the various counties, cities, and towns.” And many in the more rural northern counties of California have been disenfranchised for quite some time now. Their votes are overwhelmingly irrelevant due to the large Communist populations in the big cities such as Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Steven Maviglio, a longtime Democratic Party political consultant who was a co-chair of the effort to oppose Draper’s 2014 initiative to split California into six states, told City News Service, “Splitting California into three and creating three new governments does nothing to solve our state’s challenges other than tripling them.” What Maviglio is saying, is that by splitting California, the state will have to split their 55 electoral votes and it’s highly likely half would go to a Republican president, rather than a Democrat in upcoming presidential elections. For that reason alone, don’t look for the California government to willingly allow this split regardless of the votes.
Politicians care only about power and most people give it to them. Breaking up the state will have some big political losers. Never be under the assumption that the rich will allow you to vote away their money or that a politician will allow you to vote away their power.

History is full of these “big one” scenarios happening. The same cycle repeats. First there are tribes. Then one tribe gets too powerful. So you form states. The states begin to war on each other and we form super states (USSR, USA). States get corrupt. People get fed up. Corrupt state goes belly up. People go back to tribes or fiefdoms.
Look at the Roman empire. When it failed it broke into pieces. Look at Russia. When it failed it broke into pieces (Putin is still trying to build it back togather).
It’s just a matter of time. I would not be surprised to see the USA dissolve in the next 15 years.
I think a national divorce is long overdue; when people no longer share common values, there is no force which can continue to bind them together other than violence by a centralized tyranny.

CAL 3 is a bad idea. It gives SF domination of NORCAL, increasing liberal representation in the US Senate and additional EC votes; basically DOUBLING the influence of the PRK.
The best solution is: “NEW CALIFORNIA” which would divide the PRK into liberal cities and rural Patriots. That’s the answer and will isolate the LEFT on the Coast !!! 🙂

The way they are proposing the new borders is horrible. Especially the new N.Cal border. For the longest time the Northern Cal counties wanted to be apart from San Francisco and Sacramento. Lumping those two cities in with that new State just pisses everyone up there off and leaves them in the same irritating predicament as before,

I was born and raised in So California. I was stationed in Sacramento for almost two years. I’m very familiar with the two state argument,
at least as it was 39 years ago, it made sense to me.
This three state argument is senseless
as it leaves the state of Jefferson stuck with the counties of San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara, the very bowl of liberalism they are trying to escape. Just as I post this I saw someone else, anim8or bring that up, but didn’t list the other counties I did.
Sacramento isn’t really that big of a problem. Vast majority of “bad” people there commute and work in the Bay area the rest work for the existing government which won’t exist any more if they break the state up. Besides you want Rio Linda in your state it is famous!

The best that can happen for the country is for Cali. to split into three new states. One state would stay socialist, one would be liberal to moderate, one would be moderate to conservative. The dirty secret all the Cali. state officials are keeping is they want their socialist paradise, but they know they absolutely could not survive without the state staying wholly intact because the liberals and socialists are ultra dependent on the tax base and wealth the rest of the state provides. Hell, they’re not surviving now, the state is actually grossly financially insolvent. If it does not split (which I don’t believe it will) it would be better for the country as a whole to then secede (which I do believe is legal and Constitutional) but the fed. gov’t wouldn’t allow. In reality, this whole idea of splitting or seceding is just a what-if notion for now. It is likely intractable financial problems and social turmoil will take place in Cali. in just one more generation, things will come to a head then. The issues of splitting or seceding will be taken far more seriously.

The best solution is for most of the pacific coast of California to break away from the mainland in a huge earthquake and sink into the ocean. Whoever dreamed up this plan has no concept of the demographics or the geography of California.
This is a wasted effort that solves absolutely nothing for anyone. The difficulty in California is that the urban areas dominate the rural areas due to the population differential. This plan does not change that differential.
In fact it makes it worse. Orange County is demographically associated with Los Angeles. Monterey County is demographically associated with the San Francisco bay area. Yet these demographics are split. San Bernardino, Riverside & San Diego Counties are so large that they should be broken up to separate the urban areas from the rural areas.
Of course this would never happen by the US Constitution. The urban Los Angeles dominated California legislature would never approve it, no matter how many signatures there are on the petition and no matter how big a majority voted for it on the ballot.
The only way for rural counties, such as the State of Jefferson, to separate from the rest of the state is to simply do it. Elect county sheriffs that will throw the federal and California state officials out of their respective counties. Jefferson would elect its own Congressmen and Senators to US Congress. Then Jefferson would refuse to acknowledge the US federal government until its representatives were seated in Congress. That’s the only way the State of Jefferson, or any other plan to break up California will come about.

That is not the split that the new state’s of Jefferson and Northern California have on their maps.
Jefferson would be the southern counties in Oregon, and the northern most counties in the old state of California. Northern California would be from that southern boundary of Jefferson to, and including, the north tip of Sacramento county, down on the eastern side to include Inyo, Mono, Tuolumne counties as the southern border for the new state of North California – all more rural counties for the proposed two new states. California would then be from those borders south. That way the people that live within those counties would be politically more represented then what is going on with the Bay area and LA/Orange county basically deciding all the issues of the state because of the compacted mass of population in those areas, and whose political requirements do not represent the rest of the current state’s population.
Draper’s division does nothing to change the way the smaller, less dense population is represented as he made sure that the larger cities are included into each state so that the actual political representation be barely modified from the NON representation going on currently.
