Militant group Hezbollah has vowed to take revenge on Israel after a drone strike killed a Hamas leader. The armed Lebanese group has said it has “its finger on the trigger” in response to the killing of Hamas’ deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri.

The deputy leader’s death will not go unanswered, Hezbollah has promised while blaming Israel. This war is right on the edge of becoming explosive, and should Hazbollah respond, it will expand even further.

Several hours after the killing of al-Arouri, Hezbollah, which is an ally of the Palestinian armed terrorist group Hamas, issued a statement, warning that “its finger [is] on the trigger.” The group described the drone strike as a “serious assault on Lebanon,” insisting that “this crime will never pass without response and punishment. The criminal enemy – which after ninety days of crime, killing, and destruction was unable to subjugate Gaza – is resorting to a policy of assassination,” Hezbollah stated, referring to Israel, according to a report by RT.

Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said that he told the country’s foreign minister to submit an urgent complaint to the UN Security Council over the drone strike, which he described as a “flagrant attack on Lebanese sovereignty.

In a separate statement, Mikati claimed that the killing of al-Arouri was an attempt to “drag Lebanon into a new phase of confrontation” and called on the international community to “put pressure” on Israel to stop its attacks on the country’s territory. –RT

Israel has not claimed responsibility for the drone attack that killed al-Arouri, however, one Israeli and two United States officials have told media outlet Axios that Israel was behind the assassination.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh called Tuesday’s attack a “blatant crime that demonstrates, once again, the brutality that is carried out by the occupation against our people.”

“All these assassinations and attacks will make us stronger and more determined than ever. this is the history of the resistance and our movement. We always become stronger and more determined,” Haniyeh added during a televised address.
