It looks like there is no sense and order in what ISIS folks are doing while they are terrorizing people and burning them alive, stone them to death, kill captured soldiers or simply women and kids. But spreading terror and pure fear makes lot of sense in terms of strategy, especially in already „chaotic“ times and territories where they are trying to advance.
Terror is a psychological game.
The “they are coming for me feeling”
I have experienced for myself, more than once the feeling that „they are coming for me“. It is that moment when you are armed and ready, together with more folks, who are armed too and we are all waiting for attack.
And guys who are attacking are famous for the fact that they do not take prisoners, or that they have few sick guys who are collecting ears from the captured people, while they are still alive.
No matter how well you are armed and prepared and ready to fight, if you hear about their atrocities for weeks and then one evening you are forced to fight with them it will have impact on you.
You will face stress of battle but also have to deal with your own fear.
Of course different people react in different ways, so some guys will break down or give up even before fight, without single bullet flying through the air.
Some guys will even surrender without fight and beg for mercy, even they listened stories about „no prisoners“ for weeks. Often they are the people who can not imagine how truly evil people act. They think because they would not kill and torture other people they do not know nobody would. It makes no sense, but it is what terror does and why it works. It makes people act without sense, makes them do stupid things, to be confused and not logical.
Terror is advanced level of trash talk in sports where one opponent tries to make the other one angry that he loses focus. When it comes to terror it is just fear that is used as weapon.
I have seen that sometimes only rumor about some infamous unit coming to attack is enough that groups who are very well organised simply fall apart.
If you hear that there is unit coming and they will torture and kill everyone in their way including your kids and woman, you have two choices: To fight to the last or run.
In the movies folks will fight to the last, but in reality most of the folks will simply run. The difference is like walking on edge of the sidewalk or walking on edge of a high building. In both cases you walk on edge but only in one case a wrong step has much worse consequences.
Few times I asked myself why ISIS has so much success over there in Iraq and Syria. One of the answers is terror. Nothing spreads so fast like terror.
I also think the idea you can have ultimate power over life and death of people makes many people want to join them. People get high on power and that they can decide who lives or dies. If this happens in group you usually find people trying to be more brutal than other people in their group. To be the most respected a feared one.
You finally can rule over people, to judge, it does not have anything to do with religion, it is in human nature of some folks.
Few months ago I read some US weapon forum and one of the members shows his rifle and said how he bought it cheaply and how it was probably used in Balkan war.
On the rifle butt there was still small engraved sign of the unit visible. And strangely I knew that unit.
Unit was famous in war because they (like many others) did lots of bad things, rape, kill prisoners and similar things like private prisons etc.
But at the end most of them ended up dead, killed like the people they killed.
Once when people realize that bullets can kill you no matter how famous or infamous you are it all gets easier.
People dealt with them, and today they are just something like weird war memory with a sign on someones rifle butt. This is a lesson you need to keep in mind in situations when you face enemies that cause fear and terror in you.
First you need to accept your fear and terror. Some people do not accept it and try to pretend its not there until it breaks out and makes them unable to function. Often in situations when it matters most.
Be aware of your fear and terror but also confident in your abilities to face this enemy. This is attitude that you need to show openly also to all members of your group. In groups emotions always get amplified.
Just like walking on edge of high building you focus on the task at hand, the walking or fighting and forget about consequences for that moment.
Terror needs to be dealt with brute force, before it spreads way too much to be contained. It is like disease.
You can get sick from terror, just like from pneumonia for example. Symptoms are fear,panic, doing illogical things, or having urge to run away before even you realize who is your enemy and how you can defeat it.
This is why we prepare, practice and learn to focus on what matters to achieve our goals. Terror only works if you give it power.

Obama Plays Hardball with Israel?

Finally. After many years of official hypocrisy, a US president appears to be playing hardball with Israel. The other day, the US government declassified a 1987 report documenting Israel’s secret nuclear weapons program.

I have been a critic of President Obama, but one has to admire the timing of the release which I suspect was ordered by the White House. Next month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to speak before Congress, at the behest of House speaker Boehner, and the topic of Netanyahu’s address reportedly will be Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program. The fact that neither Speaker Boehner nor the Israeli government first cleared the speech with the White House has become controversial, and for good reason. Several prominent members of Congress, among them Senator Leahy, have already indicated they will boycott the speech, which will be a transparent attempt at an end run around the president.
Israeli PM Netanyahu is a smooth talker, but he is in no position to lecture Iran or any other state about nuclear weapons. The just-declassified report shows up Netanyahu for what he is, a liar.
All sixteen US intelligence agencies agree there is no hard evidence that Iran is attempting to develop nuclear weapons. As a signatory of the nuclear non proliferation treaty, Iran’s nuclear power program is fully safeguarded by IAEA inspections. Israel by contrast is a rogue state that secretly developed nukes while thumbing its nose at the world. Israel has long refused to sign the NPT.
The declassified 1987 report indicates that from the 1980s on the US was well-informed about Israel’s hidden nuclear agenda. Israel’s nuke program is evidently a carbon copy of the US program.
We know that Israel smuggled nuclear technology (triggers, known as krytrons) out of the US, highjacked a ship on the high seas loaded with uranium ore, deceived US inspectors, and much more, all the while lying about its true intentions.
It also appears that Israel provided the IAEA with phony documents about Iran’s nuclear program.

With the report now public, Obama will be in a stronger position to apply pressure on Israel to sign the NPT and open its nuclear sites to IAEA inspectors; or face the prospect of losing US economic and military aid. Why? Because a US law (the Symington amendment of the 1961 Foreign Assistance Act) bars the US from giving aid to nations that engage in clandestine nuclear weapons proliferation. For many years, the US chose to ignore the law. But now that Netanyahu plainly intends to stir up trouble for Obama in Congress over Iran, the president has apparently decided to take off the kid gloves. If Obama follows through, and I hope he does, it will the smartest policy move of his presidency. The president deserves all the support that we the people can give him on this issue.

No doubt it was occasioned by a three-page expose that appeared in the London Sunday Times in 1986, based on evidence provided by an Israeli whistleblower named Mordechai Vanunu. The stunning Times expose featured inside photos and details about Israel’s top-secret plutonium separation plant buried 80 feet below the Negev desert. For years, Israel had claimed that its Dimona nuclear plant was peacefully generating electricity. But Vanunu showed this was a deception.
For his courage Vanunu suffered a fate worse than death. Kidnapped by Israeli agents, he was taken back to Israel in chains and convicted of treason in a kangaroo court. The man of conscience spent 18 years in Ashkelon prison, 11 of them in solitary confinement, during which time he endured terrible abuse by his Israeli handlers. Though Vanunu was released in 2004, he remains under house arrest in Israel to this day; a shocking example of double jeopardy.
I want to personally thank Mordechai Vanunu for the incredible courage he has shown over many years, which now finally appears on the verge of bearing positive fruit. Never doubt that one brave man can change the world. Vanunu did. He will be remembered for his strength in the service of truth, while Netanyahu may well become notorious as the dissembler who destroyed Israel’s credibility.

To pretend that the Mosaic Law was not replaced would make God a fool. If the Mosaic Law could save, if Mosaic Law could open the gates of Heaven, there would have been no reason for the Incarnation, Ministry, Passion, Crucifixion, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Urban vs. Rural
On 9/11 I was standing under the world trade center in another city besides nyc; there are many wtcs in the us. Pigs came and told everyone to leave and wouldn’t tell us why. Streets were so jammed you couldn’t move anywhere. I went to a shopping mall to wait it out. The mall kicked everyone out and I was just walking in the streets. And the day after that’s when I started to EDC.
I was urban for many years now I’m semi-rural. You can certainly be an urban prepper. It’s just not as strong a position as preps and safety go. On the other hand my urban apartments have never been broken into. But three of my rural properties have been broken into when I wasn’t there. After that I started sleeping with handcuffs and police scanner in the dresser.

The book, “Surviving Economic Collapse” written about Argentina has a lot of real world useful advice. He stated those in rural areas had no support and were targets. I think a half acre lot in the suburbs with a well organized garden and good neighbors is probably the best. If by chance you had a large extended family on multiple acres that would be best.

It is like a switch, when turned on you have no compassion for others, yet it takes a very long time to turn it back off. When a guy is shot through the hips, and all messed up. Thats real reality right there. With a population of 340,000,000+, its not going to be cake walk. I met and old man from my church, 95 Yrs old man, 15 yrs ago, Good old Phil and his wife. They survived the great depression. When i asked him what he taught about the population difference, he laughed and said that there was no chance in hell that we would survive this. To a certain degree, most of us probably feel the same way as you do at times, because we all know the future is not going to be getting better. No one is asking you to physically take yourself to the fight. If the fight comes to you, then I would hope you would have the decency to defend yourself if such an event was to unfold upon you.
I often think how nice it would be to live on an habitable tropical island, by myself or with a small select group of like-minded individuals. No Governance, just straight up common(sense) laws. People helping each other on daily activities and enjoying what nature has to offer.

For me I have already made up my mind. I will stand and fight, I’m too damn old to run, and when I had my knees replaced I don’t run that well. I also with my training will stand and fight, because I have learned to shut down the run reflex. I also know that it might be better to retreat and regroup and fight another day.
I also know this is my home, my family, and to someone else it is just a piece of land, or just another person. I’m willing to let them loose their life try to take it.

Excellent article. When confronted with an enemy like ISIS it’s best to understand that for a time you’ll need to shut your humanity down. The best example IMHO is the legacy Vlad The Impaler left for us. Was it sick? Yes. Horrificly brutal? Yes. Did it work? Absolutely. We often talk about the difference between sheep, sheep dogs, and wolves. Wolves are a perceived threat from the get go. However, if you’be ever seen a wolf mauled to death you’ll notice the pack usually retreats. If you’re smart you string up the carcass as a reminder. If not they’re soon to return. While I will never promote violence against innocent people, groups like ISIS should be met with a force of violence that would make Vlad himself turn away. Images from Hell should be burned in to their minds so that they know what awaits them should they continue their evil paths. That’s my two cents anyways. Maybe it sounds hateful and scary, but I’ve seen too many Christians, men, women, and even children murdered by these bastards to care anymore.
