Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of social media giant Facebook has promised to enact even more censorship ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. Under the rouse of cracking down on “hate speech,” Facebook will take censorship to a whole new level.

Using “misinformation” and “hate speech” as a reason to block others from saying things the political elitists and social media giants dislike, Facebook will take a front role in censorship. The Hollywood Reporter stated in a recent article that Facebook will make its biggest increase in money spent to combat “hate speech” and “misinformation” on its platform this year, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg stated that despite Facebook’s increased expenditure, the company still won’t be as “dialed in as well as everyone would like us to be,” in relation to security and influence campaigns on the platform.

But Facebook itself is one of the biggest election influencers out there, making sure they ban speech that goes against their leftist bias. According to a report by Breitbart, Zuckerberg stated that the upcoming midterm elections will be “a real test” of the newly implemented safeguards designed to protect the platform from “bad actors,” following reports of numerous foreign influence campaigns on the social media website. Zuckerberg said that during the upcoming election, the platform will see “all the good and bad that humanity can do,” but that the social media platform is getting better at hiding the “bad stuff” from users. In other words, Facebook is getting really good a censoring the things they don’t want anyone to focus on. 

Even some of the more left-leaning publications have warned about Facebook’s censorship campaign.  Sure, they call it everything but, but there is no denying that what the company is doing, is censoring speech in hopes of changing the outcome of an election – the very thing they accuse those whose voices they silence of doing.

Facebook’s crackdown on free speech has been happening for a long time. All social media outlets have taken to banning those who say things that not only go against a liberal ideology but things that are inherently anti-government.  Criticizing the government could get you a ban too.
