Fast Approaching The BREAKING POINT

    WARSH MUST HIKE.
    TUDOR JONES is WRONG!

The bond market just delivered the message the Fed has been too timid to say out loud.

CoreWeave bonds sank into distress. Hedge funds dumped the AI exposure they piled on all year. The Nasdaq had its worst week since Liberation Day. Real yields sit a whisker from 3% — the level that has a habit of ending bubbles!

And yet October hike odds collapsed to 14% the moment Kevin Warsh declined to telegraph action. The reason is that markets are accustomed to weak, pathetic and cowardly globalists, not to Bessent, Warsh and Trump.

Markets think Warsh is a slave to election cycles. That is not independence. That is the opposite.

The most bullish thing the Fed can do right now is hike. Not because the economy is overheating in the old 1970s sense, but because 66 consecutive months of CPI above the 2% target have destroyed credibility!

AI financing has become a debt bubble on top of an equity bubble. Hyperscaler free cash flow is projected to go deeply negative while capex races past $800 billion this year and $1 trillion next!

Someone has to lend the difference. When the lenders start demanding 1,100 basis points on CoreWeave paper and Oracle CDS goes parabolic, the market is telling you the cost of capital has finally arrived.

A hike days before the midterms is not a political act. It is the refusal to treat the calendar as more important than the price of money.

What is right to do today is right to do any day.

If the Fed waits until after November 3 so that no one can claim interference, it will have confirmed the exact suspicion already priced into long-end yields and credit spreads: that the institution still calculates political risk before it calculates inflation risk.

Markets do not need another pause that looks like accommodation. They need proof that the new leadership will not shrink from the decision that restores the risk-free rate as a real benchmark.

A credible hike that pulls terminal rates back from clearly restrictive territory does not tighten conditions for long. It ends the “higher for longer” uncertainty that is already cracking the weakest AI borrowers and forcing real yields toward the danger zone.

Once the market believes the Fed will not let inflation expectations drift, the long end can ease without the Fed having to cut.

Credit spreads on the investment-grade hyperscalers stop blowing out. The private-equity and BDC ETFs that have round-tripped their gains stop looking like early-warning signals.

Positioning that is still extremely long risk can breathe instead of having to de-risk in a panic.

    The alternative is already visible.

A Fed that flinches before the midterms simply tells investors that the political calendar still overrides the data. That is how you get the next leg of the AI financing problem, not the resolution of it.

Warsh does not need to deliver a surprise 50 basis point move. He needs to show that the institution will move when the numbers and the credit market say it should, not when the political consultants say it is safe.

Accountability at the Fed is the precondition for easier credit later. Independence is not a slogan; it is the willingness to raise rates on the day the market least expects it because that is the day the signal is cleanest.

The FOMC meeting on October 28 will test whether the Federal Reserve still understands the same principle.

One decision does not decide the election. But it decides whether markets continue to price political caution or begin to price a central bank that can again be trusted with the price of money.

Paul Tudor Jones believes 2027 will be rough, because he has never invested in a time of a mythic president… he’ll have to learn his lesson the good old-fashioned way…
