Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that “Russia has won the war.” Orban added that the only issue is that Ukraine’s backers are refusing to admit defeat, but once they do, this war is over.

Without military aid and weapons, Ukraine would have lost this fight a long time ago. Like Orban, we have been saying the obvious, but quiet part out loud for quite some time now.

Orban made these comments on Tuesday, shortly after he snubbed the latest joint European Union statement made in support of Ukraine. That statement was issued ahead of the meeting between United States President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, which is scheduled for Friday in Alaska. Speaking to the ‘Patriot’ YouTube channel, the Hungarian leader said he partly opposed the statement as it only made the EU look “ridiculous and pathetic.”

“When two leaders sit down to negotiate with each other, the Americans and the Russians … and you’re not invited there, you don’t rush for the phone, you don’t run around, you don’t shout in from the outside,” Orban stated, according to a report by RT.  “If you are not at the negotiating table, you are on the menu.”

With Ukrainian ruler, Volodymyr Zelensky, potentially making concessions on territory, and obvious statements like Orban’s, an end to this war could be close.   While Zelensky has recently declined peace terms because it would mean ceding land to Russia, his recent comments may allude to him softening his stance on that issue.

“We are talking now as if this were an open-ended war situation, but it is not. The Ukrainians have lost the war. Russia has won this war,” Orban said “The only question is when and under what circumstances will the West, who are behind the Ukrainians, admit that this has happened, and what will result from all this.”

Hungary and Ukraine have not been on the best of terms, and things continue to worsen as tensions surface around the Hungarian ethnic minority in Western Ukraine. Last week, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said Kiev has no place in the EU and “doesn’t even belong among civilized nations,” citing the recent death of an ethnic Hungarian allegedly at the hands of Ukrainian draft officers.

      1. Our nation’s relentless war-time spending on Ukraine’s behalf is one reason for the inflated prices for everything we’ve seen in recent years, so an end to the Ukraine/Russian “war” would certainly be welcome news in terms of its potential for diminishing inflation. However, I can’t help fearing that if our psychopathic “leaders” in Washington no longer have an active military engagement to indulge their aggressions, they’ll once again turn their attention to American citizens and wage another cold war on us like they did in 2020-2021.
