Senator Harry Reid has escalated the war of words over the Cliven Bundy dispute, sensationally labeling the Nevada cattle rancher’s supporters “domestic terrorists” during an event in Las Vegas today.
During a ‘Hashtags & Headlines’ event at the Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Reid referred to Bundy supporters as “Nothing more than domestic terrorists,” adding, “I repeat: what happened there was domestic terrorism.”
Reid was referring to the stand off on Saturday in Bunkerville where Bundy supporters, some of whom were armed, forced Bureau of Land Management agents to back down and release around 380 head of cattle belonging to Bundy that had been seized over the course of the previous week.
Reid claimed that Bundy viewed the United States as a “foreign government,” while accusing his supporters of goading violence.
“There were hundreds, hundreds of people from around the country that came there,” Reid said. “They had sniper rifles in the freeway. They had weapons, automatic weapons. They had children lined up. They wanted to make sure they got hurt first … What if others tried the same thing?”
Despite Reid’s characterization of Bundy supporters as “domestic terrorists,” the only violence metered out during the dispute was when BLM agents tasered and assaulted Bundy supporters during an incident on April 9.
No matter where you stand on the Bundy issue, Reid’s characterization of American protesters as “domestic terrorists” is chilling and a massive backlash is almost certain to follow.
It also fits the narrative that the federal government has been pushing for years through literature such as the MIAC report, which framed Ron Paul supporters, libertarians, people who display bumper stickers, people who own gold, or even people who fly a U.S. flag, as potential terrorists. In 2012, a Homeland Security study was leaked which characterized Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority,” and “reverent of individual liberty” as “extreme right-wing” terrorists.
Reid attracted controversy earlier this week when he promised that the BLM’s fight with Bundy was “not over”. The Nevada Senator was hit with accusations of cronyism after his former staffer Neil Kornze was confirmed as the new BLM director earlier this month.
Reid is obviously angry after his complicity in the siege against the Bundy family was exposed and became a viral story. Although many news outlets claimed this issue was “debunked,” Reid’s involvement in a solar farm just 35 miles from Bundy’s ranch is documented. Archived files which were deleted from the BLM’s own website confirm that confiscating Bundy’s cattle was necessary in order to clear the way for lucrative solar deals with transnational corporations.
Meanwhile, the BLM has admitted slaughtering two prize bulls belonging to Cliven Bundy during their round up of his cattle. The BLM claims the bulls “posed a safety hazard” but refused to elaborate. Bundy supporters have pointed to photographs which appear to show one of the bulls having suffered a gunshot wound.

i just had a hour-long conversation with someone that was at bundy ranch. i hadn’t heard this yet, but it seems 3 “teams” of militia from orange county, california have been detained under the patriot act for being on their way to bundy’s ranch to help with his situation. they were detained before they even got out of california, assumedly by “spotters” or by profiling…he wasn’t sure which. BTW, he says the troops at bundy ranch were blackwater and kraft international,, not BLM as they would have US believe(full beards on several “BLM” guys?). also he told me they saw planes spraying something, sometimes one after another all day long…a lot of people there have hoarse voices and don’t feel well, he says. also says there are 2 drones flying pretty much all the time…they DO need more people there….when i hear more, i will put out more, for whatever it’s worth. but just take all the stuff you HEAR with a grain of salt you gotta carry in a wheelbarrow.
The Bundy issue had nothing to do with “Grazing Fees”. It was about government intimidation. It was a warning to ANYONE that would cross the FEDS, no matter how minor, that they would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. (No matter how unconstitutional that law might be)
They spent 3 million dollars, as a “SHOW OF FORCE” over grazing fees that are coming down from the million dollar figure to a 5 digit fine.( Check that figure)

I expect a few thumbs down here but here is how I stand on Bundy. If there are grazing fees and you refuse to pay them when every other farmer is, then I am not a fan. Sorry.
Now, that being said, I think the BLM (and federal govt as a whole) was and is out of control. This whole big govt that is coming from all sides and parties in govt needs to be reigned in. I am a small govt guy, and I think the local sheriff and local govt needed to step in quicker.
On the flip side, there needs to a small amount of govt that can regulate the wild lands. As my point, look at Mexico. There are no deer and wild life to speak of, because people are hungry and hunt the the animals to near extinction (much like what happened during the Great Depression). Look at their non regulated water that we can’t drink, the fact that almost all of our batteries are made there due to the pollution, etc…
There needs to be order. If there is no order, then anarchy rules and everything is destroyed. But the over sized and bloated govt also needs to be reigned in. There has to be a balance, but for my whole adult life the pendulum swings from one extreme to another. We just don’t seem to be able to stay in a happy medium…
As far as Harry Reid calling all of us domestic terrorists, I knew (like most of us on this forum) that that was going to happen. That goes all the way back to the leaked document that some brave DHS employee leaked a few years from Janet Napalitano’s desk that labeled returning vets a bigger problem than Al Quida terrorists (at least the CIA seems to be semi controlling those boys and girls).
If you have been paying attention, their playbook is wide open. I think they (and when I say they, I mean the folks who want King Barry to declare martial law) wanted a shooting match in Nevada. People are itching for a fight in this country. The left and right have never been more far apart in our history (except maybe when we fought the Civil War). I don’t think most people have any clue as to what real violence is once that party kicks off. When I was an active LEO, most people that saw a murdered body or witnessed a shooting were traumatized. If another civil war kicks off, it will be neighbor on neighbor, and it will be fought in your front yards and living rooms. Millions will be dead and everyone will be affected.
Unfortunately, I think that fight is inevitable. I have thought that for years, but I hope and pray that somehow cooler heads will prevail. But if it has to happen, let it be in my generation, not my kids.

I agree, and Nevada is a free range state. I remember when Don Hodel (I think that is how you spell it) was the Secretary of Interior in 88-89 and made the desert tortice an endangered animal and set up areas for them in Nevada and California City (I was actually on the military helicopter flight that toured the tri state area). If the area is Nevada territory, like we both agree it is, then why is anyone paying fees to BLM and why is Nevada allowing those fees to be collected and used by the Feds?
As far as water, I was simply showing how Mexican water is a disaster. If you collect your rain water, good for you. I say keep rain barrels and enjoy. I know in WA they made it illegal to collect the rain because the Govt says once it hits the ground they own it and regulate it. I disagree, but that is another issue.

I read a few years ago that buried in the tax code is a law that says that wages do not constitute income. I wonder how many people are getting away with not paying income tax on anything “earned.” If this is the case, does the fact that a few people are actually following the written law, and not necessarily the IRS “rules” make them wrong?

Scout: Does Rancher Bundy have “prescriptive rights” under adverse possession? If he does, good for him! Really! Then he has legal standing. But I don’t think he does.
In Arizona, adverse possession must be “open, notorious, and uncontested” for a period of seven years. The article at the link you cite talks about five years. I do not know the required time limit for Nevada. Arizona typically follows California law and maybe Nevada does too. Maybe not.
Rancher Bundy quit paying grazing fees in 1993 severing his Lease with BLM. In 1998 a Judge issued a permanent injunction against Rancher Bundy. That injunction is proof that Bundy’s access to Taxpayer land is contested; not to mention any letters sent to Rancher Bundy by BLM in the meantime and before the required time expired.
The article itself is nothing more than hearsay.
Rancher Bundy will again have his day in Court and I will bet $100 that he will be found guilty by his peers and fellow citizens in Nevada, arrested, held without bail, and sentenced to jail for a long, long time if he doesn’t get himself and a lot of innocent people killed with him in the mean time.
If he pulls it off I am headed for Lake Powell! But I suspect that Rancher Bundy will go the way of every “Sovereign Man” in America who refuses to pay his taxes.
The FEDS will get him one way or the other just like they did Al Capone; who was also a thief, BTW. 🙂

While I am glad to know that you and others here can argue about the Constitution, the enclave clause, and various treaties, I believe that I have a much simpler approach. I grew up in Rhode Island, home-base for the New England mafia. Like all other branches of organized crime, they ran “protection” rackets: you pay us money for the “service” of “bad things NOT happening”
The BLM — and the government as a whole — run their own protection racket: you pay us money, and we the BLM will “help” you. We will keep bad things from “just happening”
Apparently, Mr. Bundy decided he didn’t want their “help” or their “protection”. HE STOPPED PAYING PROTECTION MONEY. And because of this, the BLM responded the way criminals ALWAYS respond: force, intimidation, threats of violence, trashing his property, bullies with guns, etc etc etc etc. They stole his cattle, brought in attack dogs and surrounded his ranch with snipers with shoot to kill orders.
What these criminal pigs didn’t count on was that “we, the people” are banding together. Many good people came to Mr. Bundy’s aid; and this time, the Americans who showed up didn’t make the same mistake as the Occupy movement or the Glenn Beck crowd: they came armed, because they weren’t going to be shit on and laughed at and sprayed with tear gas and drenched with pepper spray

That is the best analogy so far. The fact is Bundy OWNS the forage and water rights to this land. The BLM is attempting to steal them like .gov wants to steal everything. What DK refuses to acknowledge is that Bundy Owned (and still owns) the water and forage rights on this land before the BLM even was formed much less required fees. Right upfront the story was that he paid the BLM so they would help him improve the range by pooling his money with the other ranchers. Of course they didn’t. The dirty bastards instead use his fees and the other ranchers fees to pry them out of the business. So in 1993 he stopped paying his “protection money quote and then it all spiraled out of control sent them. DK refuses to acknowledge these facts and is acting like a good little statist. The only big mistake that Bundy has made is that he believed the word of the BLM. Any idiot knows anything to do with the federal government is a lie. Everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the federal government is either a lie, to support a lie, or to create a lie in the future.
Net Ranger: Rancher Bundy only owns the fee simple rights to his own land, which would include the water, forage, and minerals.
He doesn’t own 300,000 acres in dispute, and his daddy couldn’t sell him the title to those lands which his daddy Leased from BLM.

Our founding fathers broke the law. There is no difference between a patriot and a lawbreaker. In fact, a true patriot by definition breaks unjust and immoral laws. Your claims that Bundy is a criminal and should be subject to the full force of the law ignores the fact that the government that convicted him is corrupt, unconstitutional and way past being legal itself. When the government breaks the law, it is the duty of the people to reign it back in or replace it. Civil Disobedience is a historical and common method to stand up to an unjust law or government. That is exactly what the patriots that showed up to support Bundy have done. When we can no longer gather to protest, and protect, to overthrow unjust laws, it is too late to save the nation.

Most people don’t realize that the land in question was STATE land until the feds stole it and turned it into federal land. Bundy paid the grazing fee’s to the county until the feds stole it. Clinton was very good at stealing state land. Look into it and you will see Ole Clinton was taking land left and right and converting it into federal land. No where in the Constitution does it give the federal government the authority to take state land in this manner. The founding fathers wrote extensively about the federal government NOT owning land with the exceptions of forts, armories, etc as is stated in the Constitution because if the government had the legal authority to take state land then there is no need for any state governments. Nevada has lost 84.5% of it’s land to the federal government. Why does Nevada have a state government? With the small amount of people living on private land they may as well form a couple of tribes and be done with the state government completely.

Look at the big picture. Nevada is sparsely populated outside the metropolitan areas and the largest industry in those metropolitan areas is gaming/hospitality. The SEIU is heavily represented there. We will never get rid of him. However we can demote him to the minority in the Senate and effectively neuter him.

The dinosaur media has been trying (and succeeding) in blurring the public’s perception between auto and semi-auto since the Patrick Purdy school shooting with a semi-auto AK variant back in 1989. Most people would now think that a Remington 742 deer rifle is a machine gun because it is semi-auto.

For over 20 years, the Bureau of Land Management engaged in a “literal, intentional conspiracy” against Nevada ranchers to force them out of business, according to a federal judge whose court opinion exposes the BLM’s true intent against rancher Cliven Bundy.

In his opinion of United States v. Estate of Hage, U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Jones reveals that after late Nevada rancher E. Wayne Hage indicated on his 1993 grazing permit renewal that by signing the permit, he was not surrendering his family’s long-standing water and forage rights on the land, the BLM not only rejected the permit but also conspired for decades to both deny his family’s property rights and to destroy their cattle business.
“Based upon E. Wayne Hage’s declaration that he refused to waive his rights — a declaration that did not purport to change the substance of the grazing permit renewal for which he was applying, and which had no plausible legal effect other than to superfluously assert non-waiver of rights — the Government denied him a renewal grazing permit based upon its frankly nonsensical position that such an assertion of rights meant that the application had not been properly completed,” Judge Jones wrote. “After the BLM denied his renewal grazing permit for this reason by letter, the Hages indicated that they would take the issue to court, and they sued the Government in the CFC [Court of Federal Claims.]”
And at that point, Jones explained, the BLM refused to consider any further applications from Hage.
“The entire chain of events is the result of the Government’s arbitrary denial of E. Wayne Hage’s renewal permit for 1993–2003, and the effects of this due process violation are continuing,” he stated.
Judge Jones continued:
In 2007, unsatisfied with the outcome thus far in the CFC, the Government brought the present civil trespass action against Hage and the Estate. The Government did not bring criminal misdemeanor trespass claims, perhaps because it believed it could not satisfy the burden of proof in a criminal trespass action, as a previous criminal action against E. Wayne Hage had been reversed by the Court of Appeals. During the course of the present trial, the Government has: (1)invited others, including Mr. Gary Snow, to apply for grazing permits on allotments where the Hages previously had permits, indicating that Mr. Snow could use water sources on such land in which Hage had water rights, or at least knowing that he would use such sources; (2) applied with the Nevada State Engineer for its own stock watering rights in waters on the land despite that fact that the Government owns no cattle nearby and has never intended to obtain any, but rather for the purpose of obtaining rights for third parties other than Hage in order to interfere with Hage’s rights; and (3) issued trespass notices and demands for payment against persons who had cattle pastured with Hage, despite having been notified by these persons and Hage himself that Hage was responsible for these cattle and even issuing such demands for payment to witnesses soon after they testified in this case.
By filing for a public water reserve, the Government in this case sought specifically to transfer to others water rights belonging to the Hages. The Government also explicitly solicited and granted temporary grazing rights to parties who had no preferences under the TGA [Taylor Grazing Act of 1934], such as Mr. Snow, in areas where the Hages had preferences under the TGA.
It is necessary to note that under the TGA, according to Red Canyon Sheep Co. v. Ickes (1938), a rancher whose cattle had previously grazed in the area based upon adjacent land, water rights on the land, etc., has a right to a grazing permit over others who apply for a permit to graze the area without having previously grazed there.
So in this instance, Hage would have priority over Snow for a grazing permit, but the BLM willfully ignored this court ruling.
And after the agency filed for a public water reserve, according to Judge Jones, the BLM “sent trespass notices to people who leased or sold cattle to the Hages, notwithstanding the Hages’ admitted and known control over that cattle, in order to pressure other parties not to do business with the Hages, and even to discourage or punish testimony in the present case.”
“For this reason, the Court has held certain government officials in contempt and referred the matter to the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” he wrote. “In summary, government officials, and perhaps also Mr. Snow, entered into a literal, intentional conspiracy to deprive the Hages not only of their permits but also of their vested water rights.”
“This behavior shocks the conscience of the Court and provides a sufficient basis for a finding of irreparable harm to support the injunction described at the end of this Order.”
So in other words, the BLM willfully attempted to destroy the Hage family’s livelihood because Hage dared to assert his existing rights to the land which his family has held since the late 19th century.
And unfortunately the BLM is attempting to do the exact same thing to Cliven Bundy.
“Has Attorney General Eric Holder prosecuted any federal officials for criminal activity and violation of the Hage family’s constitutionally protected rights? No,” William F. Jasper, senior editor of The New American, wrote on the subject. “Has Sen. Harry Reid denounced this lawlessness and criminal activity by government officials and call upon President Obama and Attorney General Holder to protect the citizens of his state from the depredations of federal officials under their command? No.”
“With attitudes such as those expressed above by Sen. Harry Reid, it is almost a certainty that the recently defused Bundy Ranch standoff will be replayed again — and in the not-too-distant future. And the outcome could be much less amicable for all concerned.”
FD, I read that article, or one like it the other day. They have to keep the narrative on something the sheeple won’t approve of, a common propaganda tactic.
I was thinking about the hits on sheriff Mack, about women being on the front lines at Bunkerville.

Once again, it is not about taxes or for that matter grazing fees. Wayne Hage paid his grazing fees so the BLM moved to other tactics to harass him.
At one point they fined him because a 16-17 mile long fence had one staple missing in one strand on one post. Playing by the rules only works if both side do so. It seems apparent to me the BLM thinks it is above the law and that the ends justify the means.
None of this may seem important now because it does not affect you personally. When they come after you and yours you wish you’d become involved sooner..
The BLM has been harassing off-road vehicle enthusiasts in the southwest since the early 70’s. Look up Louis McKey, the Phantom Duck of the Desert and also Rick Sieman. These two men were almost jailed for years and fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for organizing a small trail ride on dirt bikes on the previously shut down Barstow to Vegas course because of “environmental damage and harm to the desert tortoise”. Of course on the same day a large number of military vehicles were allow into the exact same area of the desert.

But these examples are a distinct and separate issue from Rancher Bundy’s case. There are distinct and specific legal issues regarding Rancher Bundy, and there is NO connection to his wilful refusal to pay grazing fees and the other issues that he has interjected to obscure his Trespass and Theft.

But it does affect us in our private lives. The city building inspectors are just the same way. I took a job for an elderly man, he needed 30″ taken off the back of his garage. It was too close to the property line.
What I didn’t know, is that the city of Portland had earmarked his home for a friend of Mayor John Adams.
Nothing was right with the inspectors. In the end, I found the original plans and discovered that they had no right to force the alterations to start with, and the city actually owed this man over $2,300 they took from him in illegal fines.
THAT was how I forced them to just pass the damn inspection and mark it done. After the gentleman died, the friend of the Mayor lives there to this day.
I agree that the BLM harassed Rancher Hage when he was WILLING to pay his grazing fees for a Lease; and the Court found that Rancher Hage should have been allowed to Lease the land first, because of historic Lease rights to the land for water and forage.
Rancher Bundy has NOT been willing to pay his grazing fees, and therein lies the difference between the two.

It’s not about taxes. It’s about grazing fee’s. His family has been grazing cattle on this land for over 100 years. When the BLM took it over in the 80’s they decided he could continue to rent the land he just couldn’t graze cattle on it. They are effectively trying to put him out of business.
Why do you think they killed his bulls but rounded up the cows? In Texas a cow is around $1200-1500. A quality bull is $5000-10000. No bulls, no calves. No calves no profit. No profit you’re out of business. You’re out of business they can sell the land to the Chinese for that solar farm. The Chinese buy and they pay Harry’s son a nice stipend for expediting the transaction.

sixpack: Rancher Bundy only owns the fee simple component of the “Ranch”; including all water and minerals. The fee simple component is Rancher Bundy’s private land derived from Homestead. No one disputes Rancher Bundy’s private land.
The dispute is over the 300,000 acres that his father Leased from the FEDs. His father paid lease fees for grazing rights on Taxpayer land. His father sold the “Ranch” to his son. The “Ranch” consisted of the private land and the Leased land. Fee simple ownership of the private homestead passed to the son, and the Lease of taxpayer land, the grazing rights on 300,000 acres was transferred to the son for the duration of the Lease.
The son renewed that grazing lease every year until he stopped paying in 1993. When the son stopped paying grazing fees he lost the Lease. The Lease with BLM for the use of grazing his herd was severed by the son. Period.
Subsequently, the BLM had the right to release the grazing rights to someone else, allow a miner to claim mining rights, or Lease the land to a corporation to build a solar plant. I doubt that the solar plant in question would be allowed to purchase ownership of that Taxpayer trust land without a land swap for other (private)lands.
Actual purchase of these Taxpayer lands have been denied for some time and the only way an individual or corporation can acquire these lands is by land swap.
Any transfer of this land should be scrutinized, but Rancher Bundy’s rights to the 300,000 acres were legally severed by Rancher Bundy in 1993 when he stopped paying grazing rights upon the land.
Now he needs to remove his cows. 🙂

From what I’ve read lately, the Bundy fiasco is a land grab, plain and simple. Because Dirty Harry and crowd *think* that PUBLIC land means it’s theres to sell off to Chinese investors, or power projects, fracking or others as they please. Forget that one remaining rancher is a holdout and doesn’t want to budge because if he does it game over for others as well.
The Bundy ranch area also reportedly holds a large watershed area as well as Colorado river access, something very important to development of fracking. If you have a major river flowing through you have all the clean water you need to pollute and pump back into the ground.

If you listen carefully, you can hear the stampede of politicians distancing themselves from their once best-friend – Hotel magnate Sant Singh Chatwal – as AP reports, he plead guilty Thursday to charges he secretly funneled more than $180,000 in illegal campaign contributions to three unnamed candidates and coached someone to lie about it. Without the contributions “nobody will even talk to you,” Chatwal said. “That’s the only way to buy them, get into the system.” Welcome to the ugly truth of American politik.
The FT details that Sant Singh Chatwal, chairman of Hampshire Hotels Management, pleaded guilty on Thursday to making more than $180,000 in illegal federal campaign donations to three candidates through “straw donors” who were reimbursed, the DoJ said in a statement.
He raised at least $100,000 for Hillary Clinton in her 2008 presidential campaign against Barack Obama.
The justice department did not comment on whether Mrs Clinton was one of the three candidates, but it said there was no allegation that candidates took part in or were aware of Mr Chatwal’s scheme.
Mr Chatwal was skirting legal limits on contributions to an individual candidate’s campaign of $2,300 in 2008 and $2,400 in 2010.
As AP explains the fraud was extensive…
Court papers allege that between 2007 and 2011, Chatwal used his employees, business associates and contractors who worked on his hotels to collect contributions from straw donors in Queens, Long Island and elsewhere. He then arranged to pay the donors back, a violation of the election laws.
As part the scheme, an unnamed business associate submitted a bill to Chatwal for $104,745 in 2011 for purported work done for one of Chatwal’s companies. Prosecutors allege that $69,000 of the total actually was reimbursement for money the associate had raised via straw donors.
In a conversation recorded in 2012, Chatwal instructed the associate that if he were asked if Chatwal gave him the money back, he should respond, “Never.”
Chatwal directly backed several Democratic candidates with his own money — at least $31,200 since 2004, according to Federal Election Commission records.
Among them were New York Reps. Joe Crowley and Gary Ackerman, along with California Rep. Howard Berman and Florida Rep. Robert Wexler. He also gave money to Montana Sen. Jon Tester, Nevada Sen. Harry Reid, Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd and Virginia Sen. Mark Warner.

I guess they didn’t get the message at Oklahoma City when my husband and other responders had to remove the lifeless bodies of the children from the day care in that building. They are buying private holdings being sold by willing sellers, that’s for certain.

I think there’s a line of reaoning to support the contention that the Republicans threw the earlier senatorial election in NV to Reid, by running a person who was clearly unfit for office. The same contention could be made of McCain’s presidential race, where he chose a completely inexperienced running mate for the national stage.
There is a deep, mulit-decadal complicity between the Republican and Democratic parties, which has resulted in today’s fragile state of our nation’s Constitution. The moral citizen cannot hope to change things politically by working within the system because it is intentionally and deeply corrupt. I believe that a tipping point is being socially engineered.

I had the privilege and opportunity to learn to make a calf suck a bottle to save her life. It’s going to take a lot to revive the calves that were nearly dead when they were returned to the Bundy Ranch because they had been separated from their mothers during the roundup, and a few most likely won’t make it.
I’m headed back to the Bundy’s today at 1:00pm. I hope you’ll meet me up there. Take I-15 North towards Mesquite, get off at exit 112, and I’ll be on the left-hand side of the road, about 2.5 miles down. Give yourself about an hour and a half for traffic.
This isn’t my normal, nice, politically correct email, so hang on to your seats. I can tell you that after everything I’ve seen, this roundup was not about grazing fees.
First and foremost, like all Nevadans, I love my country and support my government. I proudly support Nevada being home to military installations needed to defend our nation, the federal government test site to develop the equipment necessary for that defense, and any of the other federal lands and facilities needed to conduct the true business of our federal government. That said, I struggle to see the compelling federal issue of where cows eat.
I spent a majority of my time in Bunkerville over the last week with the Bundy family and their supporters. During my time in Bunkerville, I couldn’t help but think about Nevada’s upcoming 150th birthday and that the federal government continues to patronize our state by trying to overstep and police our Nevada citizens. I wonder when the federal government will think Nevada is mature enough to set our own grazing rules or enforce our own laws.
I didn’t meet one Nevadan supporting the BLM or their removal of the cows. If Nevadans don’t care about which land is used for grazing, why should a bureaucrat who works for the federal government get to trump that?
I had the opportunity to meet the American-minded Bundy supporters from all over our country. They were peacefully protesting the BLM’s actions, and I’m excited to report the Bundy family was successful in keeping the peace until the BLM stopped their roundup and returned the Bundy’s cattle.
I’ll also report the actions of some spineless, poor-excuses of BLM staffers. An armed BLM officer picked up Mr. Bundy’s elderly sister from behind, a total sneak attack, and body slammed her to the ground; there is video footage. This woman is the mother of 11 and just survived cancer. Following that brutal incident, another BLM officer ordered his dog to attack Mr. Bundy’s son, Ammon, and as Ammon Bundy was trying to get the dog off his leg, the Nazi-minded bully tazed him twice, once in the neck and the second one right above the heart. As if that wasn’t enough, the brutal BLM thugs beat up Dave Bundy, a pilot out of Las Vegas, detained him, stole his iPad because it contained the brutal footage, confiscated many other items out of his car, transported him to Henderson where he was further detained, then released him in the middle of street. They didn’t stop there. No, they detained two more young guys while they were herding some more cattle in Overton.
These men and woman are Americans attacking Americans. I’m speechless. If you saw the number of police agencies united, I’d hope you’d be curious. We are talking about dozens of our finest SWAT members from Metro, Metro black & white cars, EMT, fire rescue trucks, detention buses (a.k.a. Paddy wagons), over 50 Ranger and BLM vehicles, numerous highway patrol vehicles, and a Black Hawk Helicopter on the Moapa airfield, just to name a few. We watched the Waco Massacre and Ruby Ridge; was the BLM preparing for a “Bunkerville Slaughter”? I believe in my heart because of these last two disasters, Americans from all over our country traveled from afar to stand with the Bundys and let our government know enough is enough. I’m proud to stand with my fellow Americans.
The numbers do not calculate. The federal government had the authority and an open checkbook to spend 10 million dollars or more for a maximum return of $200,000. Here’s how I calculate that number: the BLM might collect maybe 400 heads of cattle, taking into account the number of cattle they would kill while rounding them up. From the round up, the cattle would go to auction. How much do you think you’ll pay for a half-dead, beat up cow? Let’s say they were able to successful auction off 400 cows for $500.00 each (I’m being very very generous). The brainiac head of BLM authorized 10 million dollars or more to maybe recoup $200,000. Really? As a CEO I’d fire that decision-maker immediately. In their minds, maybe it’s worth getting rid of the cows, or just killing them, so the cows won’t destroy equipment for a project they might want to implement.
The BLM tried to paint their actions as enforcing the law; however, there are several other reasons why the BLM chose to pick this fight. It cannot be a coincidence that the place where the Bundy’s have grazed their cattle for hundreds of years would suddenly become an animal refuge for desert tortoises; is it really desert tortoises? If so, why would the BLM be euthanizing them? That’s right, BLM has EUTHANIZED 700-800 desert tortoises. Trust but verify. Click here to read one of many stories about it.
We’re also seeing reports that the BLM land in Gold Butte is very desirable for energy projects, which may have prompted this sudden strong-arm tactic. Don’t trust me, verify it. Click here to read the BLM’s own report on the project.
A major concern in all of this was how the BLM treated the cattle. It is completely irresponsible that after years of conversations, the Feds would begin their roundup during the season when calves are being born. In this mess, newborn calves were separated from their mothers; some were trampled in their holding pens and left for dead. A helicopter acted as a cowboy to herd the cows, causing a few to have heart attacks and die. The conditions of the holding pens where they kept the cows for days were heartless and cruel. Where was PETA?
I do want to comment about the upstanding citizens who came to show their support, including the Oath Keepers, a non-partisan association of current and formerly serving military, police, and first responders who are committed to defending the Constitution. They are honorable men and women who acted professionally and respectfully. There were many groups of freedom fighters who traveled from all over our country to stand together. I have a very serious request to all agency officers and that request is, “not to obey your superiors when given a direct order to attack your fellow Americans fighting for the freedoms granted to us by our Constitution”. Take a sick day or a vacation.
I didn’t become an elected official to join an elite club; I ran for office to protect the people and be a true voice for the people. I take my oath seriously. It’s time for Nevada to stand up to the federal government and demand the return of the BLM lands to the people of Nevada. BLM has shown their true colors and agenda. As elected officials in Nevada, it is our responsibility to be leaders on this issue and work together, Republicans and Democrats, to make sure this doesn’t happen ever again. Together we need to write legislation to protect our state’s rights from the Feds.
