Are we better off today?
We can’t help but be discouraged about the economic, fiscal and political state of our country.
It is believed by many of those in positions of power that these trillion dollar stimulus and bailout commitments -which in reality are nothing more than pulling forward billions of hours of time and energy of millions of Americans, most not yet born – will somehow resolve the crisis in which we find ourselves. Nothing could be further from the truth. The truth is, every time Congress passes a new law, every time Treasury borrows more money, every time we involve ourselves in another foreign military conflict, more of our country is enslaved to the socio- and psychopaths who think only of their own personal accumulation of wealth and power.
The only way out – and it’s a long shot – is to reset Congress and the Presidency. We can try to vote them out, but this strategy has seen limited success, at best.
We fear that as things continue to spiral out of control, as Americans become poorer and the aristocrats get richer, as Americans realize their votes really don’t matter and the influence of corporate lobbies increases, we may very well see Americans on the streets of our major cities rioting over their inability to acquire jobs, food or shelter for their families.
These will be trying times for us all.
