Germs are spread quickly in population dense areas. Schools and daycares, workplaces, community events are germ-ridden cesspools for attracting unwanted illness and diseases. Studies are finding that sneezes and coughs cause illnesses to travel much farther than originally estimated. With the concern of flu season, as well as the heightened awareness of Ebola, it is crucial to have an understanding of germs and how quickly they can travel in a community setting.

    How Far Reaching Are Germs?

Many are concerned that Ebola could go airborne. Technically, this virus can only be spread through bodily fluids. The virus spreads when saliva, mucous, blood, vomit, feces, or other bodily fluids of an infected person come into contact with someone else’s mucus membranes. The emphasis on this is it has to be a symptomatic infected person.

One virologist, Alan Schmaljohn at the University of Maryland School of Medicinewas asked if Ebola was airborne and states, “With Ebola, large droplets — which neither travel very far nor hang in the air for long — are the real risk factors. That means an Ebola-infected person would likely have to cough or sneeze up blood or other bodily fluids directly in your face for you to catch the virus, Schmaljohn says. If that drop of blood doesn’t land on your face, it will just fall to the ground. It won’t be swimming in the air, waiting to be breathed in by an unsuspecting passerby.” Source

However, there are differing opinions. Recently, the CDC warned of infectious diseases of this sort spreading through the air. As well, in a novel study by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), researchers show that coughs and sneezes have associated gas clouds that keep their potentially infectious droplets aloft over much greater distances. The fluid droplets expelled in coughs and sneezes are a combination of sizes—ranging from 1 micrometer to 800-900 micrometers. “The idea was that we mostly transmit diseases through the larger droplets that fall on other people and surfaces,” says study coauthor Lydia Bourouiba, Ph.D., assistant professor at MIT. Researchers previously thought that those larger droplets were going to travel farther than the smaller ones—reaching about 1 meter while the smaller droplets stayed around 30-50 centimeters in front of you.

The study made a startling realization: there’s a crucial respiratory cloud that you expel every time you sneeze or cough, which is made up of hot/moist air and some water. This cloud actually enhanced the range and travel length of the smaller droplets, helping them travel way farther than they previously thought.

Because the droplets are in a cloud, they stay suspended and travel further — particularly smaller ones, which travel up to 200 times farther than previously estimated. Therefore, they can penetrate the room and ventilation systems more insidiously.

“When you cough or sneeze, you see the droplets, or feel them if someone sneezes on you,” says Bush. “But you don’t see the cloud, the invisible gas phase.

The influence of this gas cloud is to extend the range of the individual droplets, particularly the small ones.” “You can have ventilation contamination in a much more direct way than we would have expected originally,” says Bourouiba.

The researchers suggest that architects and engineers may want to reexamine the design of workplaces and hospitals — and air circulation on airplanes — to reduce the chance that airborne pathogens will transmitted among people. Source

Once a hand has been contaminated, inadvertent transfer of the virus to the mouth, nose, or eyes can result in infection. It’s still helpful to sneeze into your hands or elbow to capture the larger droplets, but those smaller droplets may linger in the air long after you cough, says Bourouiba.

Ebola Can Survive Outside the Host

Based on experimental findings, Ebola has the capacity to live outside its host. The virus can survive in liquid or dried blood even in low temperatures. Source Given that most germs travel by moisture droplets in the air and on our hands, think about how many communal objects we touch every day: door knobs, remote controls, cell phones, pens, handshakes, food and pets (germs can be transferred from petting animals). Perhaps it is purely speculation, but could we apply the MIT research to the fear of Ebola spreading throughout cities and communities? Much of our population is in close proximity to one another. We take subways, trains and buses to get to work, sit in classrooms  and work in close relation to others. Not to mention our advanced transportations have the capacity to take us anywhere in the world. It is not too far of a stretch to assume that within these population dense areas others could quickly be infected with the Ebola virus.

    Risk Reduction

Keep in mind, there is no cure for Ebola. If more patients are found to have Ebola, the community as a whole needs to begin taking immediate protective measures. The only way to prevent this horrible disease is to avoid it altogether.

There are very specific steps you can take to reduce your risk of acquiring Ebola, and cleaning and washing your hands will only get you so far. The best way to avoid infection is through social avoidance. If you have to go to work or school, preventing the spreading germs from surfaces you touch to your mouth, nose or other people is advantageous. Most importantly, if you believe you are ill or a family is sick it is imperative that they stay home and isolated. Limiting contact by isolating the ill in a sick room will further reduce the spread of this contagion. If you are ill, do not go out in public. Even if you need to run a quick errand, keep in mind that the germs in the cough or sneeze that escaped into an empty aisle can linger in an invisible cloud that others will certainly pass through.

If you are in an area where others have Ebola:

    • Practice good hand washing. Have antibacterial gels on hand if soap is not available.
    • Carry cleaning wipes to wipe public surfaces.
    • Covering coughs and sneezes with elbows.
    • Stay away from crowds.
    • Meticulous cleaning and disinfecting of the home and the contents that come into a home.
    • Wearing a facemask and protective wear in addition to a respirator in public arenas.

    According to the CDC:

If you travel to or are in an area affected by an Ebola outbreak, make sure to do the following:

    • Practice careful hygiene. Avoid contact with blood and body fluids.
    • Do not handle items that may have come in contact with an infected person’s blood or body fluids.
    • Avoid funeral or burial rituals that require handling the body of someone who has died from Ebola.
    • Avoid contact with bats and nonhuman primates or blood, fluids, and raw meat prepared from these animals.
    • Avoid hospitals where Ebola patients are being treated. The U.S. embassy or consulate is often able to provide advice on facilities.
    • After you return, monitor your health for 21 days and seek medical care immediately if you develop symptoms of Ebola.

Healthcare workers who may be exposed to people with Ebola should follow these steps:

    • Wear protective clothing, including masks, gloves, gowns, and eye protection.
    • Practice proper infection control and sterilization measures. For more information, see “Infection Control for Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers in the African Health Care Setting”.
    • Isolate patients with Ebola from other patients.
    • Avoid direct contact with the bodies of people who have died from Ebola.
    • Notify health officials if you have had direct contact with the blood or body fluids, such as but not limited to, feces, saliva, urine, vomit, and semen of a person who is sick with Ebola. The virus can enter the body through broken skin or unprotected mucous membranes in, for example, the eyes, nose, or mouth.

We live in complex, densely populated areas. If the CDC overlooks one person, then Ebola continues to spread throughout the community. A pandemic can affect every type of our livelihood. Get informed, get prepared and hope for the best.

      1. ‘sarcasm activated’ : Like Fukushima, all around the world… ‘sarcasm de-activated’ 🙂

        • The government has cornered the market on both disinformation and no information on this Ebola thing….

I fully believe the government, under the guise of keeping people from panicking, would lie through their teeth….

          • CNBC Analyst Just said GOLD is Heading to $660 /OZ. 2:56PM EST.

Better sell and dump your GOLD. Half Price Sale coming up soon.

I also predict Silver heading down to $4 to $6 / OZ. in a few months.

            • I don’t know why Gold and Silver are going down the toilet.

But! Think about this. Obola-infected Thomas Eric Duncan took a dump many times while staying in his girlfriend’s apartment in Dallas.

One of the ways that Obola is transmitted is through feces. So Obola feces gets flushed down the sewage system, through the apartment complex’s sewer lines, all the way through the final waste facility.

Now I have no idea how compartmentalized sewage lines are from other water lines (I actually trust that they are very separate), but if I was living in that apartment complex where Duncan was residing, I’d move out immediately if I could. The family is under forced isolation and I’m still living in that apt. complex? Heck no! I’m outta there.

Call somebody you know, and say, “I can’t live here anymore. That Obola guy was here. And his family is under forced quarantine. Can I stay with you for a little while? Please?”

Would you say yes to this request? Help a family member or a friend out.

              • I’m now officially homeless. All the shelters are full. I’m living the dream in my F150 every night now. I have a job.

I’m seriously considering beating the shit out of my wife for leaving, taking my kids, and leaving me with the bag. I’m so bitter and sad that noone in my family will help me. I’m trying to figure out if God is enough, cuz I have nothing left. I have noone to love or be loved by anymore. I just want to die. My hope is that Ebola will take me out, because I can’t do it.

                • Iowa –
Hang in there bud , I have always found that from the bottom i can see new horizons to head for.
I know what yer feeling , been there.
That dont help much i know , just dont go flyin off the handle and do something yer really gonna regret.

                  • The Ebola hype will prove itself to be as toothless as the AIDS hype of the 1980’s.

But just in case, I suggest you ALL follow the States advice!

“Line up and get your Ebola vaccination when we (Big Pharma and FedGov) provide one!”

                    Do it for the children.

                    Do it for your country.

Do it to honor returning military heroes.

Do it for the USA… USA… USA.

But above all… Just do it… or else!

                  • Time to activate a “no-fly zone” in Dallas. 🙁

                  • Iowa,we all in life go through trials/tough times, never married with kids so do not realize the loss you are feeling, that said, lost 3 friends this summer/been screwed out of pay on a recent gig, have relative at moment in hospital. We all go though the mine fields in life sooner or later,me a few times, but we do get to the other side, you will also, hang in there.

                  • I say we dust off and nuke ’em from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

                  • Iowa…ummmmm…hawkeyes…

Buckup son or let someone else drive…

                • Hang in there Bud,
Is a bummer for sure, when my X left me i thought everything was caving in too but eventually slowly came out of the rut, then started meeting people,
Not worth beatin the x, just forgive, and find the silver lining, not sure where you are at but theres gotta be a way to get a roof over your head,

                • Iowa~~you will find that He will be enough for you.

My prayer for you, that God will comfort you and give you wisdom.

That He will guide and direct you.

That He will provide for you. Be open to His provision.

                • Well, if you beat the shit out of her, you will be in worse situation. Its important to do the right thing and leave the rest in God’s hands, as difficult as that sounds. Do you have a preacher you can talk to?

You have no idea what I have gone through the last few years: was living in my car because I refused to pay the double in rent they were charging in my hometown. (doubled the rent in one year!!)… My mom and 2 cats died, I lost my apartment, all in one year. I won’t say what happened the next year because people might could identify me but it was real bad too… this past year, my best friend and I broke up, my car was stolen and I’m now living in a relative’s car… so don’t feel alone!

Some times, as they say, “shit happens” (I feel like I’ve been flushed down the toilet!!) but its important not to give up, realize this is God’s play and all we have to do is to play our part well, as best we can, as our Maker would have us to do… then the blessings come… they did for me in the past when I was going through a very traumatic time… God bless!

                  • Anon ..A shskesphere wrote..THE EARTH IS A STAGE AND WE ARE ACTORS UPON IT.Iowa you will find your peace.

                  • Jesus, after reading some of these folks situations I think that I should make up a sign like Bruce Willis wore in the movie with Samuel L. Jackson and walk through Ferguson Missouri. Seriously, I feel guilty and really feel bad for what some of you folks have endured.

                  • Hang in there buddy, you’ll get through it with your determined attitude and devotion to God.

Life isn’t easy and for many it really isn’t easy.

                • Iowa … forget the ex, no woman is worth going to jail over, ever. Concentrate on maintaining your relationship with your children and with God. They’ll both get you through the rough patch occurring now and in time you’ll be in a much better place. Been there, that’s how I know.

                • What kind of job? What industry?

                  Good pay?

Maybe this is a sign that you need a change in location. There are a few good-paying jobs in my area. Some are ag-related.

Problems can lesson with distance. So can bad feelings.

                • Iowa,
Almost everything looks better over time. You are always glad you survived to see better times – and there are always better times.

I am old and almost no one in my family has lived much past my age, but I still want to live a while longer, if for no other reason than to see what happens next in the world. It is always a surprise.

                  • I know, Daisy, sometimes it gets very discouraging because of all the hellish conditions I’ve been through lately– but I really want to see what happens! 🙂

also, even though I am going through really rough times lately, I used to be very, very happy! a friend of mine used to say that things go in cycles– like waves in the ocean– sometimes its all very fun and other times the waves get rough… everyone goes through bad times and good times but the bad times exist to make us stronger… like the old guy who went through the desert but God was with him.

I’m not real old but I aint real young either… good times, bad times, thats just how life is— life is a school… 😉

                  • I’m sorry… but why is ANYONE coddling this wuss…

Are you going to let him play paddy cakes with your kids…while you take on the hordes…

                    What am I missing here?

Probably nothing if you’re all laced up with aluminum based water…

I for one would never count on this wuss in a firefight…

                • Iowa
I was almost there, except I had a job. I did have a brother and sister to love me. Mom and Dad I didn’t want them to know how bad it was then. This is when my first wife took my four kids and left me holding the bag.

When I got the darkest was when I met my new wife. I had nothing to offer, but friendship, and it grow to love. 20 years ago.

Just think you have a F-150 its better than a GMC or a Chevy, or Dodge. That is a plus. Just kidding trying to make you smile.

I found that working out and running helped me more than anything, until I met my wife.

20 years later we have 100 acres in Missouri, and are now looking at land in Tenn.

Please my friend and I mean My FRIEND, hang in there. I see you have access to a computer. If you want to talk you can contact me at [email protected] any time.
Being a cop I have seen and heard it all. If I can help I will do what I can.

YOU HAVE FRIENDS HERE AND I KNOW THAT THEY WILL HELP SOME WAY OR ANOTHER.
                  Sgt.

                  • Yeah, exercise is EXTREMELY important– as well as time of quiet contemplation on God/meditation.

                • Iowa, I’ve been at the bottom once because of being burned out of a home, but my fortunes turned around a lot quicker than I expected. When the going gets tough, the tough get going like my Dad used to say to me. You hang in there and be strong. Don’t give up. Things will turn back around for you. You say you still have a job; that’s the biggest thing in your favor right now that you still have a source of income. I’ll bet you won’t be homeless for long. I’ve been sad and bitter several times in my life but I overcame every one of those curveballs that life threw at me. Hang in there, You’ll overcome it.

                  • Iowa, PS, forget all about laying a hand on the wife. the domestic violence law is a FEMINAZI LAW WHICH SHOWS FAVORITISM TO WOMEN AND PERSECUTES MEN BASED ON THEIR GENDER. That law is a gender-biased law aimed against men, especially white men. I’m sure she’s happy knowing you’re miserable. Man up and pull yourself up by your bootstraps. As someone else just posted, just a few paychecks away and you’ll have a place to hang your hat again. when she finds out you’re recovering, SHE will be miserable. You can use psychological tactics to get back at her and there’s nothing she could do about that. But above all else forget about violence. these liberal judges are full of contempt and hostility toward white males, especially if they’re female and believe in feminism. the domestic violence law was written in part by no less than Feinstein herself. She’s not only a gun grabber, she’s also a feminazi bitch who is out to hurt men any way she can.

                • Hey Iowa, man up and quit feeling sorry for youreslf. Gut it out and a year from now you will be sending her thank you cards for leaving. You will only make her happy if you are miserable. Make her miserable by being happy and picking yourself up and out of your present situation. The best revenge is for you to be happy.

                  • Good advice Mark. I remember when my ex left me many years ago. I really, really loved her and I nearly died from a broken heart. Honestly. The physical and emotional pain was real and nearly fatal.

If that were not bad enough, it cost me half of all I had at the time, (which was not all that much in retrospect) but going forward it saved me a fortune. Then there are all the beautiful, sexy young women readily available today through social media.

I couldn’t see it then, but her exit was a gift from God!!! Thank you Lord!!! LMAO!!! 🙂

                  • To a point Mark, I agree…

What I want to know is why half this thread is being wasted on a wuss…

                  • Iowa–
Just thank the Lord that she’s not coming back. Maybe you should change the locks on the truck.

                • Iowa, hang in there man, hang in there. One day at a time, one step in front of the other.

You’re in a dark place right now, and where you are it only feels like you want to die, but hang in there because that feeling with all its intensity is only temporary.

Give yourself a chance to heal, you can do it, be patient. The darkness will not last forever. The rays of hope will begin to break through and you will begin to be glad and you will find yourself stronger from the trial you’re going through now. Then you will be able to help someone else down the road who is going through exactly what you’re going through now.

Pray, pray, and pray some more for strength that God freely provides through his son Jesus. I love you brother, and my prayers are for you.

                  • Been almost a year since divorce and depression set in for myself, best advice i can give is to stay focused on survival, sounds stupid but what do all other creatures focus on? Things are going to get worse in all of our lives as the collapse becomes reality, its been a nightmare for me personally but i think i had some mental prep in place for shtf and i think its time we all get serious and realize that the good times are over and fighting depression will be our greatest fight in reality. No matter how screwed you may feel, don’t give up, fight like youve been taught, things are going to get far worse… and i feel im passing on the truth…stay crazy… all these wild creatures are and they have the fight to survive
                    Yeah…no longer amused one bit

                  • NLA: There you go. What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger. A LOT stronger!!!

Iowa, the mental, emotional, and spiritual strength that you will receive through this experience will pay many dividends for you and those around and about you in the future who will be able to draw from your wisdom and strength.

The race does not belong to the swift, but to the strong. Endure!!! 🙂

                • Two or three paychecks and you can get some housing.

                  Just muddle on through, somehow.

Remember, you are better than your situation.

The wife is gone, let her go. Don’t look back.

Suicide is for fools. Revenge is futile.

Been there, know what you’re going through. One day at a time.

                • Iowa,

I am so sorry to hear this. Please don’t beat up your wife, that will only bring more trouble. Many people I have met have have weathered difficult times too. (I know I have.) Please don’t give up. Praying for you.

May the Lord heal, strengthen and comfort you!

                  Sincerely,
                  KY Mom

When sad or really discouraged, I keep turning to these verses.

May they give you comfort and strength.

“The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4: 5-7

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”…“He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”
                  Psalm 91:2, 4

                • FROM PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS’ WEBSITE:

                  “POVERTY IN US….”

During the past seven years, millions of Americans have lost their jobs and their homes, and food stamp rolls have reached record numbers. These hurting Americans have been ignored by policy-makers in Washington.

Clearly, government in America is focused on something different from a healthy economy and the well being of citizens. We call it democracy, but it’s not.

                • Iowa: You have a job. You have a truck, so you have a home. If you lose your job for any reason, you will find another.

I spent last summer in Flagstaff Arizona. Summer temperatures are 75 daytime, 50 at night. Perfect weather. October temps right now are 60 daytime, 30 at night. Winter temperatures are much, much colder with nighttime temps in the teens.

The point I want to make is that I met a homeless guy that had been living in Flagstaff, OUTSIDE, summer and winter, working day labor …… for NINE years who needed six bucks to take a Native American bus to NM to pick pumpkins for thirty days.

He has no truck. Not even a driver’s license, but he has ID. I gave him six bucks. I saw him at Micky D’s a few weeks ago while passing through and he came up, said “hello” and handed me six bucks and said “thanks!. He is till living outside. I have no idea how he does it but he says he has a place outside that has some shelter from the elements and is dry to sleep.

A few years back I met a kid in Prescott who at that time, had been living outside in a tent in the woods and showering at the Salvation Army for 12 years. 12 years!!!

You will make it. Take it a day at a time.

Use that time to re-inforce your personal relationship with your Creator. When one door closes, another will open. In this manner, the good Lord takes you from where you are…. to where he wants you to be.

                  Follow the open doors. 🙂

                  • Iowa-

                    Stay the course, guy!

                    ..keep the faith, pray much.
Remember, ole Job back in the O.T. took a real pounding too…but in the end, GOD had his back.

Will keep you in my prayers.
                    GOD Bless!

                • Iowa,
I worked with the homeless for several years. Keep in contact with the shelters so you will know when they have an opening. I am sorry you have no family support and it is the major reason for homelessness. God is concerned with your situation and I expect Him to turn it around as many are praying for you.

                • I was there too. It was rough and it was before I had God. But keep plugging man. it gets better. My life is better now than it has ever been. Keep praying.

                • Iowa….God is enough and you CAN do this….and in you darkest moments He’ll show up. Did for me and I’ve been thru some pretty awful stuff. Hang in there….don’t ever give up. Will be praying for you.

Every door that closes another one opens up. Spirits up Mate!! No drinking and driving. Promise!! You can do it. Greener pastures. Time to move on. It was meant to be. The best revenge is your own personal success. Do NOT Dwell, move forward. It always works out. You can do it. Thanks for sharing. Lots of good souls out there in a struggle right now join the club. Keep you head up and always do the right thing. You will be rewarded big time.

                • If you have a job, you WILL get back up on your feet! It is a test of courage and character. Your children will be back in your life, at some point. It is not possible to keep them away forever. Get “prepped” for that day, be the dad that they can be proud of.

                • Hey Iowa, michigan here, I was in the same boat, really all I had was a boat ,lived under a bridge on it during my divorce. I new when I was at that point , that it wasn’t going to last, it was tuff but I was determined , 10 years latter, I have 3 houses , a excavating business , everything I could want. And her, last I heard , ugly, real ugly, and can’t keep a man. Laugh and have fun, life’s great.

                • Iowa, bless your heart. I’m so sorry for your difficulties. have you contacted the churches in your area? see if someone there can lend a hand, or call someone in your behalf. you have a job and a truck, which is not too shabby! check and see if you can rent a room from someone. I’ll be praying for you. Please do not give up.

                • When they make more money divorcing a guy than staying with him… what the hell do you all think is going to happen?

Yeah, this country is all about the family and the children.

                  Right.

                  Whatever.

                • Honey, talk a deep breath and tell yourself, ” This really sucks right now, I will get through it!” And I am old and got the t shirt from the same crap, bit it works, you will make if u want to, it just sucks right now , hang in there, your kids need ya!

                • Iowa-try to keep your rage under control. It will pass and things will get better for you. Thankful you have a job and hoping things improve for you soon. You have friends here at SHTF who care about you and your well-being!

                • I have been where you are….it is not a good place

I was a cop going through divorce, at 3am on patrol, thinking all was lost, stopped at a redlight, when I see a guy in awheelchair blowing into a reed (a quadraplegic) crossing the street in front of me. Suddenly I realize alll the problems I was facing were not even close to what that guy was going through….

People, good people, adapt, overcome, and survive…You can do it

                  • CNO: I hear what you are saying. When I got back from Nam I totaled three cars in three months (without a scratch myself). I went from a new Z to an old black VW faster than you can say “zero to 60”.

It was summer, my VW was overheating and I had a flat. Scrapped my knuckles bad taking off the lugs. A little old lady, looking a lot like 80 was sweeping the sidewalk in front of her house.

She admonished me for the four letter word that a trick or treater had waxed onto my side window the previous halloween, given that we were across from a school.

I was just about to tell her what to do with her broom. When I turned, she smiled like an angel and I caught myself. I didn’t say a word. I just changed the tire. As I went down the road I was appalled at what I NEARLY said to that sweet old woman.

I stopped at a store and bought a small bouquet of flowers and went back to her house. She lived in the back on the THIRD floor and when I finally got upstairs I knocked and hollered. No one answered.

I went inside and notice milk toast warming on the stove. I shouted again and she emerged from the other room, saw my flowers and smiled, a tear trickling down her cheek. I apologized for what I NEARLY said and she smiled and invited me into the living room.

On the living room floor was an amazing sight. A man, or the shell of a man in a diaper on a pad playing with a red ball. His eyes were void of intelligence and all he could do was make garbled sounds.

She explained that it was her son, brain damaged since birth 40 years previously. Every day she would lift him out of his bed, change his diaper, and put him on the floor to play. While thin, he was probably six foot and she merely five foot and some change.

I asked her how she was able to lift him out of bed and move him to the living room floor. She said she had “been doing that for 40 years” and smiled that angelic smile. We chatted for a few more minutes and I left, not wanting her milk toast to burn.

Anytime I have ever REMOTELY begun to feel sorry for myself in life, I remember this man and I count my blessings.

                    And I remember her. 🙂

                • You are in my prayers Iowa. I have been there. In fact, I wrote a song during that time, part of it was: I don’t have the answer, but some day I’ll see. What was Your (God) purpose for me.The song was “All I Have Left Is A Prayer”. Jesus is the only help.

                  • Colorodo, Durango, mtgrandma

You are all people I would love to meet. Thank you for the inspiration.

Should remind us all that there are good loving people left in this world. It makes what we are doing worth all of the struggles and pain. We owe that to the next generation.

I have commented lately about all the evil that is now in this world. A friend said that only means that there is also more love too because there must be balance.

I think we just rarely see it because of how media and life has become.

                    Thank you all so much.

                • I been there dude. It gets better. Just make good decisions make right choice. the shit plays out as it must you gotta be solid now.

                • I’m sorry you are going through a rough time. Going through a break-up (even a temporary one) is devastating.

Nobody knows about this…nobody in my current life, I should clarify. My husband had an affair about 7 years ago. Actually, more than one with the extra being his ex-wife. We went to counseling and that helped, or so I thought. I was pretty destroyed, but wanted to move past it for our children. Three years after the ‘affairs’ I found his stash of drugs (steroids) which helped explain his raging and moodiness. I just thought I was gonna die of heartbreak. I mean how much was this shit gonna put us through.

He’s cleaned up his act these days, and we are still married. I have put up with it because of my children but there have been times I wish he would have left me so I could have moved on personally, because I will never trust him like I once did. He doesn’t deserve my trust but my children deserve a good childhood and they are going to get the best I can give them.

I won’t say I will leave him after they are grown because, again, it isn’t about me anymore. I am a mother and that is first. Being married doesn’t necessarily mean you aren’t lonely, which compounds said loneliness.

I share this to say that even in an unhappy situation I can be happy. It is a choice, for me at least. I don’t want his foolishness to steal the joy out of my life. You can take this and turn it into something you can use for good. You, in a way, get to start over. Not to make this situation seem trite, but rather put a little perspective that may be hard to see from where you are right now.

                  God is enough.

                  • Anon

I feel the urge to thank you for your post. I hope Iowa gets what I did out of it. The last 9 months have been tough for my family. Your strength and attitude are so admirable. You are definitely a person that anyone would want by there side in a crisis.
That is simply because of your attitude and strength. There just are not that many strong people any more. So many feel that they are owed things.
You gave me inspiration when I needed it because right now I feel low. The one thing I am proud of is no matter how I feel I will never give up or give in. I owe that to my family name, my friends, and most of all to my sons.

To all on here. The only way you will ever lose is if you give up or give in. Never do that. NEVER.

Thank you so much Anon and if I could I would give you one heck of a hug right now.

                • Iowa

My ex left me when my boys were 4 and 5. I went from 2 incomes to 1. I went from no baby sitter to having to have one. I was in my 6 month probation period with the power company. I declared bankruptcy at one point during the marriage to my ex. When the boys were babies I had a time where I did not know where the next can of formula was going to come from. The good lord provided. A lady out of the blue at church gave me 20 dollars and no one knew the predicament I was in.
When the ex left I thought I was going to lose everything. I had to sell guns, my truck, and anything of value.
The kicker is my one son has cerebral palsy. He does not walk or talk. He is 22 now and happy all the time. I have seen him go in and out of the hospital so many times. In the last 9 months he has been in the hospital 8 times. Once in medical ICU. I thought he was going to die. He has remained happy through it all.
I had a heart attack a year and a half ago. It is due to stress. 22 years of worrying about whether he would die. I have seen so many special children with problems and some did not make it.
I feel guilty for worrying about my boy. I should have more faith in God than that. I am human though.

My point to you is this. I have watched your post for awhile. I know right now you are feeling low. We all have so many heart aches and troubles in this shit hole called life. I don’t have answers as to why things happen. The only thing I can say is God is enough if you believe in Jesus.
If you believe in Jesus then this is the only hell you will ever go through.
I AM BEGGING YOU. PLEASE NEVER GIVE UP AND NEVER GIVE IN. I DON’T KNOW YOU BUT I DO CARE AND LOVE YOU. IF YOU NEED TO TALK THEN CONTACT ME. [email protected]. If you have no email then maybe mac can get us in touch.

PLEASE BECAUSE OF GOD DON’T GIVE UP. YOUR KIDS WILL REALIZE ONE DAY WHEN THEY ARE OLDER WHAT HAPPENED.

                  • Thank you for the positive reinforcement. Because nobody really knows about this, I don’t hear encouraging words to keep on keeping on. So thank you.

Plus, I needed that cyber hug!

                • My God

I did not realize how far down my post had gone due to all the responses.

Thank you all. This should give us all hope.

Too many to name but I can honestly say I consider all of you to be friends.

God bless you Iowa and God bless every one of you who tried to help.

My prayers will go out to you Iowa and now to everyone of you and to this site. May Gods glory shine on us all.

                • Don’t think like that champ..Although those things happened, you have to look at the blessing within your problems. You still have your children by birthright. God is always enough. Because you see that, things will change. But you have to understand this: to live isn’t the test…To be positive in it, is…You have to BELIEVE you will be fine. I’m praying for you friend! Hang in there.

                • Iowa, I’m going in Monday to get some of my insides hacked out. I won’t know until after the surgery if they cut out enough to save my life. Trust me, you will only want to die, until you actually have to face it.

Live long enough to get past the pain. Then you’ll see that each day really IS a gift.

                  • Sixpack my prayers are with you.

                  • Sixpack,

Please let us know how your surgery went. My prayers are with you too.

                  • Six,assume from your moniker you have sixpack abs and are thus a tough SOB,you therefore will come out smiling the other side, look forward to hearing about your successful procedure.

                  • Warchild Dammit!, the sixpack abs started disappearing when I ruptured a cervical disk, but I did have them up until my late 40’s. I am still just as mean as ever, and I’ve done my homework. Thanks for the vote of confidence from everyone. I WILL let you guys know what happened (as long as the S hasn’t HTF yet).

Luckily, this isn’t a hospital I have to go to, so I won’t be mixed in with the other usual hospital patients (like those with infectious diseases).

My prayer is that it either isn’t cancerous, or it hasn’t spread. All prayers are welcomed. If I didn’t HAVE TO go do this, I wouldn’t, but waiting is not an option, because it would invite it to spread and kill me.

You all keep your head down while I’m gone, ya hear?

                • Hang in there, Iowa. My 2nd wife left me for no valid reason except to party and hang out with her druggie/dyke friends. If I ever see her again, I’d like to thank her. Besides, I ended up with another woman with bigger boobs. Happy days.
We didn’t have any kids and I made out pretty good in the long run. I’ve lived out a car on a few occasions and it sucks. Especially the shower situation.
Stick around, buddy. Doors will open for you when windows close.

                • I saw a future Bright and Fierce
Like a Summer Sun that shone
Just for the sake of shining
                  A hope that burned away
like a star whos very existence
Was at war with the darkness all around,
                  that dared to carry on.

                  So if your struggling. Remember.
                  Stand tall
                  Burn bright
                  and.
                  Shine On

Cause in the darkest of nights
The stars still dare to fight.
                  -Iowa

                • iOWA – I suspect I’ll catch some flack for this but it works and besides what do you have to loose?
Time to see the glass half full or half empty. My defense is to look at the bright side………
When you wake up in the morning you can still dress and feed yourself, you can walk and talk, and you can think for yourself so start thinking about now.
Yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come, so you have today and it may be your last, so go live it like it is your last. Do something nice for someone who may be just as or less fortunate it will make you feel better. EX put an add on Craigslist to help someone move with that great truck you have in exchange for a beer & pizza and you just might have a new friend and a couch to sleep on.
It’s amazing what can happen when you change your way of thinking from what you’re going through to what others may be going through and take it a step further. It changes your perspective and more. The universe is energy (a scientific fact) a conductor/transporter of everything including your thoughts and actions, which are all energy.
Today set your intentions on having someone offer you a cup of coffee of a cold drink and see what happens, or maybe just seeing a colorful bird, or both and see what happens. Then tomorrow try it again…….it can sometimes take longer than a day, but keep the thought. Let me know what happens. Wishing all the best.

            • @ WhoWuddaThunkIt,
I’m not a sophisticated investor, so could you give me a simple explanation of WHY?

              • Lies and fraud.

                Fraud and lies.

                Do not sell!

That’s what “they” want you to do!!

                They want you to SELL!!!

                Do not sell your PM’s.

              • Silver dropped to $8 per ounce before surging to $50. WhoWouldaDrunkIt-PassMeSomeMoreKoolAid is a short sighted dolt. There’s a shortage in metals and the only thing being played in the media is a propaganda piece designed to part you with your items of value. This paper ponzi scheme can’t last forever, so hold your metal.

It was only 14 years ago that gold sat at around $230 per ounce and silver at $2-3. When it comes to metals, there is no such thing as a long term diminishing return, only short term manipulation.

                • In 2000, I was buying worn-out Morgan dollars for $4 and $5, like it was 1970 or something. Sold them at a bit over $40 an ounce.

I’d love the opportunity to do that again.

                • DH outta town, so I called our local junk silver supplier yesterday. he says ” I gotta guy who’s supposed to call me back, wants All I have, about $6k worth.” I say “well when’s he supposed to call back?”, he says “this morning” I say “well when i get outta work i’m coming straight there and see whats up”

he never called back and I walked out with $1500 in 90% silver half dollars at 17.00 spot. Snooze, you lose.

and yes I’m buying on the way down, it’s called dollar cost averaging.

              • McDave, Commodities are in a normal up down cycle. Look at the 20 year chart on Gold. Anytime anything rises so high and fast it is a bubble. Tech Bubble, Housing Bubble, Auto Bubble, precious Medals Bubble, it eventually comes back down to reality. Gold today is a suckers play to buy it.

When I saw back in March 2012 Silver jump like 20 dollars in a month, I knew it would not last. I sold all of mine at $42 /OZ I am a huge Chart watcher. It is the road map to where it was and where it is going. I used to day trade back in about 2001 and 2, and play wide swing moving stocks on a daily basis. Up down -up down. I used to be the Market Maker, that’s the guy that make the stock jump or slide in price.. trading $20K Blocks of stock multiple times a day and make money on a half point swings, and use that profit as my income.

Momentum in stock trading is more of a factor today than any fundamentals. Hype is a huge factor. All I can say is if you are holding Gold or Silver, unless you want to hold on to it another 15 years, sell today. and pick it up again at half price in a few months. I imagine a lot of GOLD and Silver was bought on Margin, meaning one dollar of assets purchased 2 dollars of gold. When it falls and dips, people get margin calls, and the exchange will sell people stock to cover their losses, creating a faster fall in stock price, as it is all based on speculation than dollar to dollar purchasing.

I hear $1 dollar of assets can control $90 in OIL stock purchase, and why Oil is still so high. Its all speculators driving the price up. Its a scam for consumers.

As always, consult a professional broker, they can make you broker faster than me. lol What do I know.

              • CNO and DK, Braveheart can also speak with authority on the subject. In May, 1982, I moved back to Memphis from Miami. After my wife was killed, there was nothing left for me there. I came back with a 1972 Dodge cargo van loaded with personal belongings [I sold all the furniture I had because of the memories.] In November of that year I was living in a trailer park. I was in a 1-bedroom trailer that would’ve been more suitable as a storage shed. One day while I was at work, the trailer caught on fire [electrical] and turned into a crispy critter. Fortunately, I didn’t have much in there at the time since most of my personal belongings were still in storage and I was working on getting a better place to live. I spent a week sleeping in that van and was borrowing a shower at a co-worker’s house. this was in November when it was starting to get cold. At the end of that week, I was finally in another place. It could’ve been much, much worse for braveheart, but braveheart came out of that situation smelling like a rose. Whenever braveheart gets a curveball thrown at him, he rolls up his sleeves and gets to work on the problem himself. He never goes crying to the government or anyone else for help. He has always known how to do for himself and continues to do so. I hope Iowa will take our advice to heart. I believe he can make it but first he’s got to believe in himself.

            • It’s official: they plan to cut almost $9 billion in food stamps to fight war on ISIS… at PAul Craig Roberts website… so old ladies on social security who barely make ends meet and need food stamps instead… the money goes to the military industrial complex… as usual bull shit.

              • Oops! I meant at Chris Hedges’ website– truthdig

            • That’s the perfect time to ADD more to my collection. Getting at least some silver means being able to make your colloidal silver solutions later.

BUY LOW — SELL HIGH. That’s how you make the most profit and gain.

          • Now aint this some shit!

The sheets Duncan used are still on the bed, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) hasn’t taken away those materials

Interview w/ Anderson Cooper (link to follow)

“U.S. Ebola patient’s partner quarantined in apartment with family members”

(CNN) — The partner of Ebola patient Thomas Duncan is quarantined in her Dallas apartment where Duncan became sick with the virus after his trip to Liberia, the woman told CNN’s Anderson Cooper.

The woman, who asked to be identified only by her first name, Louise, is quarantined with one of her children under 13 and two nephews in their 20s because they were in apartment when Duncan became ill, Cooper said Thursday.

Duncan, a 42-year-old Liberian citizen, is in serious condition in a Dallas hospital, a spokeswoman said Thursday.

But Louise remains in her apartment, and she’s worried, not knowing what to do and waiting on federal health officials, Cooper said. She and her family will be quarantined for 21 days, and she’s frequently taking her family members’ temperatures as well as her own.

            Ebola victim’s half-brother speaks

“She doesn’t know how she’s going to get food into the apartment. She was told she said maybe the Red Cross would come by. She’s still waiting for that,” Cooper said.

“Some health officials brought sandwiches last night, but she hasn’t had anything today,” Cooper said. “She’s certainly kind of at loose ends and is obviously extremely worried.”

Louise sometimes refers to Duncan as her husband and sometimes as the father of at least one of her children, Cooper said. “They’re not legally married, but they clearly have some sort of relationship,” Cooper added.

Sheets and towels used by Duncan still in apartment

Later Thursday, officials were delivering food to Louise and her three family members, who are being confined under a quarantine order, said Dr. David Lakey, commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services.

The apartment is being monitored with local law enforcement, Lakey said.

Despite the close contact, Louise “does not feel that she came into any contact with any (bodily) fluids” from Duncan, Cooper said.

“She says he didn’t vomit on her. She wasn’t cleaning up after him. She said he was very much sort of prideful, would take care of himself, go into the bathroom when he had diarrhea,” Cooper said.

Louise and her family are in isolation with sheets and towels used by the Ebola-stricken Duncan, Cooper said. Louise did use bleach to clean her apartment, “but it’s not clear to me how systematic the cleaning was,” he said.

The sheets Duncan used are still on the bed, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) hasn’t taken away those materials, Cooper said.

              • Calgagus– “the sheets are still on the bed”…… has anyone thought about bed bugs? mosquitos? insects of all kinds? My GOD, man! this shtuff can get REAL in a hurry, if you let it get to you.
BTW, when typing your handle, I finally understand it… dummy me. seen the handle now for a good long time, and just now “got it”.

                • @tinker
ebola is more dangerous than hiv but can spread in the same ways.
You know to my knowledge the CDC never has said hiv can be transmitted via mosquitoes or other bug bites. Only “some” viruses and bacteria get spread by insect bites, right?
                  wink, wink

                  • Yeah, Cal- In reality a mosquito is a very small hypodermic needle and so is a bed bug… even a foolish PhD should see this. Look at it this way– a small insect can carry an even smaller virus, right? Isn’t this concept how the Black Plague began with the common rat carrying fleas and the flea being the hypodermic needle?

            • Hope she is not still sleeping in the bed.

            • Is Louise here legally?

        • No Sarcasm here. Dear Mac, huge thanks, mucho gracias, and a big mahalo for the recent spate of articles about how to prepare for the Obola pandemic. It’s good stuff.

Much better than the CDC’s reassurances that everything will be fine.

          • Yup..me too Mac..Mahaaaalo!

        • Me thinks a storm cometh this way…

          Another Ebola patient enters US…

and it looks like the hospital staff and CDC are pretty lousy/negligent/ignorant…

          • NBC news just announced that one of their news crew, camera man, covering the outbreak in Liberia has tested positive for Ebola. He will be brought back here for treatment sometime ion the next few days.

      2. Remember… When you have all the money in the world, what would you do? The answhere is simple. More power for yourself and less for others, also known as : Divide and Conquer.

        • First off, everyone relax, At this point, you are more likely to get killed going out in traffic to get your masks than by Ebola. We will need 50,000-100,000 cases to be as bad as traffic, we have 2.
Slow down, pay attention, but don’t get paniced. The REAL problem won’t be Ebola it will be the economic panic caused by it. They are reporting drops in fuel use of 35% because people are afraid to leave home. Unemployment is skyrocketing. Food shortages are starting. That’s your real problem. Same one wehave been talking about for years.

          • Paranoid. Good points. Unleaded is $2.93 in my area. My wife paid 3.33 a pound for bacon; I’m not sure why the cost of bacon is dropping. Maybe because people quit buying it for awhile. Hamburger and beef is still high. And it looks the stock market is taking a dump.
And I was thinking the same thing about the virus. If it doesn’t spread, the panic will. Especially in the Dallas area.
If this “crisis” continues, people might just think twice before participating in the madness known as “Black Friday” holiday shopping sprees.
I’m still inclined to take the news about the Ebola virus seriously though.

            • Costs are going down on some items because the economy as a whole sucks. People selling are having a hard time moving the items so they drop the price. Econ 101. However, this is to be expected as a prelude to eventual inflation. When a seller gets hard up enough for money and can’t sell them low priced, he either goes out of business or is forced to sell fewer items at a newly inflated price. We will eventually get to the inflated price.

              • Gonetoolong— no no nooooo…! Good ol’ Obola just made the claim last night that the economy is better than when he first took office!! You believe that crap? thought so.. me neither. question– DOES ANYBODY BELIEVE THAT JACKASS?? Well, maybe the people with loads of cash in Dow Jones.. this artificial jump in the market may be the precursor to the Next Great Depression. Think maybe?

          • I heard also that ISIS is threatening to send infected jihadist’s to the US to infect and kill familys of soldiers.
Sounds like empty threats , but who knows?
That kinda shit aint gonna help the economy eithet , it will just cause more panic.

          • Yep! That’s exactly what I’m thinking. This is really not that contagious.
We have a far greater chance of dying by moving vehicle or heart attack than by ebola.
The bigger fear is that if we get more cases people are going to start to panic.
Hence the reason to keep your cupboards stocked up on food.

            But the virus itself?

It is not airborne. The research shows that you can sit next to a guy with an active case of ebola and not get it.

        • The country will not survive the hippie generation. Not from me, this is from the former head of the Osama Bin Laden task force. I agree 100%. Good luck to all, time is short to be sure.

          • maddog– ain’t it funny how the hippies proclaimed “PEACE, LOVE, DOPE!” in the late 60’s and now, 50 years later, they proclaim– “POLICE, COME, SWAT!”. What I’m trying to say is that a generation of drug use predicated a mentality of Nazi tactics… as a history lesson, the Nazi party was extremely socialistic to a point of eradicating everything but their own kind. Sounds to me this is what is the underlying current today … kind of like an undertow at the beach. Me? I swim in a different pool.

      3. Dr. Jane Orient, Executive Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons warns…

on Ebola – “it’s very, very contagious, it only takes between 5 and 10 virus particles to infect a person.

You don’t have to have cuts…there are receptors for the viruses in [people’s] normal skin.”

And “it’s extremely transmissible that’s why people who like the idea of killing off 90% of population say it would be an ideal agent for accomplishing that.

There have been attempts to weaponize it…but you don’t really need an ICBM warhead to transmit this, just some infected people coming across your border.”

          Meanwhile…
Airlines scramble to track down HUNDREDS who came in contact with Thomas Eric Duncan enroute to Texas…

“U.S. officials had refused to release Duncan’s flight details, but United Airlines chose to make his itinerary public.”

“The New York Times reports that Duncan helped care for a woman who later died of the disease just days before his journey.

Had a customs official asked him about his contact with Ebola patients, he could have been flagged as being at high risk for infection.”
          http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2776786/U-S-airlines-contact-government-Ebola-concerns.html

I wonder how many people this man had contact with during those 10 hours spent at the airports?

“The federal health agency ABANDONED ITS NORMAL POLICY of informing fellow passengers of which flights Duncan took from Liberia to the U.S.”

Why? I find this very odd. What were they thinking?

“Thomas Eric Duncan left Monrovia, Liberia, on Sept. 19 aboard a Brussels Airlines jet to the Belgian capital, according to a Belgian official.

BRUSSELS – After layover of nearly SEVEN HOURS, he boarded United Airlines Flight 951 to Dulles International Airport in northern Virginia.

VIRGINIA – After another layover of nearly THREE HOURS, he then flew Flight 822 from Dulles to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, the airline confirmed.”

“The CDC typically notifies an airline when it learns that an infectious person traveled on that carrier.
The airline then turns over the flight manifest to the CDC, and health officials notify other passengers while the airline deals with crew members.”

          • Or the four days he was sent home for after going to the hospital. Are they trying to say he didn’t go to a store for some Nyquil on the way home or a soda? Did he touch the door on the way out…did the hospital personnel clean the equipment used to examine him properly? This is like a frieght train building speed.

            • every doctor I work with says the govt and cdc misinforming people. Glad they think so, i wasn’t gonna speak up, don’t want to be labeled paranoid. LOL

        • “You don’t have to have cuts…there are receptors for the viruses in [people’s] normal skin”

I believe this to be true. I have heard it many times in the last few weeks. It works like taste buds on your tongue. The virus fits into the receptor like a round peg in a round hole. Skin is not a barrier.

          • the question is whether human serum/body fluid for this ebola strain is contagious before symptoms.
Whats the window of time between initial contamination and contagiousness? This timeframe differs w/ the viruses and family of viruses. The CDC aint talking on that one. What are the blood banks doing to pre screen before taking donor blood? They are aware of that window of time between initial contact/contamination and something called seropositive. Could be ebola is contagious before serum and blood tests show positive results.
            Any viro/biologists out there?

            • A symptom is a lagging indicator of the existence of a foreign substance in the body. Take fever for example. That is a result of millions of exothermic chemical reactions that take place in the body the result of which, is heat and a chemical reaction that destroys the foreign entity.

And, it doesn’t happen all at once. It builds up. Thus, there is a significant period of time between when the body first detects the virus and begins it’s fight and the detectable appearance of fever, sweats, mucus, etc.

Thus, in my opinion, as soon as the body detects the virus, and begins it’s fight, that is when contagion can start because that is when the body’s exhaust process starts to work as well.

              • @Cellar
What I thought too. Antibodies cant be made until the body realizes theres an invader virus. Antibodies are what the tests look for.
Fever is the effect of the body producing interferon to attack the invader virus.
Dont have or know the science lingo to put it into the right wording but theres a window of virus opportunity to spread and contaminate before the fever actually develops. Theres a window before the tests detect the virus present. What we never can find out is what that window of time is.
But hell, thats nitpicking because we cant even get the govt to issue or follow the serious procedures to keep this virus under control.

      4. I’m not really nervous yet, I’m playing the wait and see game right now. I’ve been stocking more water and a few other supplies, thankfully I have been doing this a little while. I would really like to know how long the virus can live outside a host and what really kills it. Bleach, vinegar, soap and hot water are my got to cleaners. I have also read cut onions will attract viruses, why I don’t know but sometimes there are truths in old wives tales.
I know one thing for sure, why my gut says it’s time to shelter in place I will listen.

        • I cut an onion in half and put it on a little plate by my bed when I get a cold and I do seem to get well in just a couple days. Sicience? Naw, just some old school we do . The old folks say the onion sucks in the virus.

          • It might be whatever is in the onion is an antiseptic of some sort, kind of like garlic. I’m sure perfume herbalists like Nostradamus knew what they were doing. Interestingly enough a lot of wiccan stuff like hanging garlic by your door has some merit. Though I doubt the more superstitious stuff like warding off evil and vampires isn’t true, it may certainly ward off the plague.

        • How long do microbes like bacteria and viruses live on surfaces in the home at normal room temperatures?

The answer is probably not what you want to hear: Microbes can live on household surfaces for hundreds of years. The good news, however, is that most don’t. Some well-known viruses, like HIV, live only a few seconds.

Microbes, of course, are everywhere. Each square centimeter of skin alone harbors about 100,000 bacteria. And a single sneeze can spray droplets infested with bacteria and viruses as far as 3 feet. The microbial life span depends on many factors, says Philip Tierno, director of microbiology and diagnostic immunology at the New York University School of Medicine. Because viruses must invade cells of a living host to reproduce, their life spans outside are generally shorter than that of bacteria, which reproduce on their own. Although viruses can survive outside a host on household surfaces, their ability to duplicate themselves is compromised-shortening the virus’s life span.

Humidity also makes a difference; no bacteria or virus can live on dry surfaces with a humidity of less than 10 percent. Any sort of nutrients-food particles, skin cells, blood, mucus-helps microbes thrive, which is why your kitchen sponge is a breeding ground.

Bacteria called mesophiles, such as the tuberculosis-causing Mycobacterium tuberculosis, survive best at room temperature and are likely to thrive longer than cold-loving psychrophiles or heat-loving thermophiles. According to Tierno, at room temperature and normal humidity, Escherichia coli (E. coli), a bacteria found in ground beef that causes food poisoning, can live for a few hours to a day. The calicivirus, the culprit of the stomach flu, lives for days or weeks, while HIV dies nearly instantly upon exposure to sunlight. Other microbes form exoskeleton-like spores as a defense mechanism, like the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, which is responsible for toxic shock syndrome, food poisoning, and wound infections. In this way, they can withstand temperature and humidity extremes. Tierno says this bacterial spore can survive for weeks on dry clothing using sloughed skin cells for food. The Bacillus anthracis, the anthrax bacteria, can also form spores and survive tens to hundreds of years.

Worried that your home is a hospitable habitat? Tierno says simple hand washing can greatly reduce your risk of picking up germs. Using a disinfectant on high-traffic surfaces-doorknobs, kitchen counters, and sinks-also helps eliminate unwanted household guests.

      5. Here we go. It won’t take long before Someone’s Cough or Sneeze is considered a deadly weapon. And if someone sneezes on you, and you shoot him, you can claim self-defense.

        • an asian coughed in my face once while sick, passive aggressive prick knew I wouldn’t paste him for it because I needed the job.

          • I used to work with a guy, in an open office setting, who would not cover his mouth and nose when he sneezed. I politely asked him to do that and bought him a box of Kleenex to use. He still wouldn’t cover up. I then bought a big can of Lysol spray disinfectant, showed it to him, and told that if he continued, I was going to spray the air between us and him. He laughed. Next time he sneezed, I sprayed about half the can on him. He finally got the message.

      6. Pretty much common sense. Take basic precautions and you’ll be ok. But if this is all a cover up to some other virus the government made for population reduction, then we have much to fear. There had been rumors of laboratories trying to make HIV airborne so we all lose our immune systems.

        • The calicivirus, the culprit of the stomach flu, lives for days or weeks, while HIV dies nearly instantly upon exposure to sunlight.

          • Hmmmmm-

You know, I’ve heard the Obamavirus is bi-sexual and infects economies & political systems alike. Its mortality rate has yet to be determined.

..sadly, quarantine procedures have yet to be applied!

            -(deep sigh)-

      7. Staying clean, stocked up on bleach and soaps, but if it gets bad we will stay put, I don’t like shopping anyway 🙂

        • Get some Pool Shock and you can make your own bleach very inexpensively.

Look for 65% calcium hypochlorite, no addtional
          anti-fungals or clarifiers.

OUTSIDE, add 24.5 grams (about 10 Tablespoons) of powder to one gallon of water for a 5.25% solution.

Five pounds of dry pool bleach costs about $10-15, which will make about 92 gallons of bleach, which will sterilize 706,560 gallons of clear water, or 353,280 gallons of cloudy water.

This was posted on SHFTplan a few months back – I think by JayJay.

          Pool Shock Mixture:
          Easy directions for small amounts:
To 1 cup water, add 1/4 tsp. calcium hypochlorite (c.h.)
Add 1/2 tsp. of solution to a 2 liter bottle.

Yes, the c.h. makes the solution; then the solution is added to water to purify it.

So, 1/4 tsp. of c.h. to a cup of clean water–this is the solution.

Of this solution, add 1/2 tsp. to a 2 liter bottle of dirty water.

A 1 lb. bag of pool shock purifies thousands of gallons.
Keep the c.h. in a dry, cool place.

DO NOT pre-mix as it gets old like bleach.

          • yup, and this time of year you can find it on closeout at the big box stores.

          • I posted this in yesterdays piece. Its from Canada and gives specifics for bleach ratio (5.25%) for ebola. They also say acetic acid kills ebola.

The largest recorded ebolavirus outbreak to date began in March 2014, with initial cases reported in Guinea and then additional cases identified in the surrounding regions (Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria). A new strain of the ZEBOV species was identified as the causative agent of the outbreak.

INFECTIOUS DOSE: Viral hemorrhagic fevers have an infectious dose of 1 – 10 organisms by aerosol in non-human primates.

MODE OF TRANSMISSION: In an outbreak, it is hypothesized that the first patient becomes infected as a result of contact with an infected animal. Person-to-person transmission occurs via close personal contact with an infected individual or their body fluids during the late stages of infection or after death. Nosocomial infections can occur through contact with infected body fluids for example due to the reuse of unsterilized syringes, needles, or other medical equipment contaminated with these fluids. Humans may be infected by handling sick or dead non-human primates and are also at risk when handling the bodies of deceased humans in preparation for funerals.

In laboratory settings, non-human primates exposed to aerosolized ebolavirus from pigs have become infected, however, airborne transmission has not been demonstrated between non-human primates. Viral shedding has been observed in nasopharyngeal secretions and rectal swabs of pigs following experimental inoculation.

INCUBATION PERIOD: Two to 21 days

COMMUNICABILITY: Communicable as long as blood, body fluids or organs, contain the virus. Ebolavirus has been isolated from semen 61 to 82 days after the onset of illness, and transmission through semen has occurred 7 weeks after clinical recovery.

SUSCEPTIBILITY TO DISINFECTANTS: Ebolavirus is susceptible to 3% acetic acid, 1% glutaraldehyde, alcohol-based products, and dilutions (1:10-1:100 for ≥10 minutes) of 5.25% household bleach (sodium hypochlorite), and calcium hypochlorite (bleach powder).

The WHO recommendations for cleaning up spills of blood or body fluids suggest flooding the area with a 1:10 dilutions of 5.25% household bleach for 10 minutes for surfaces that can tolerate stronger bleach solutions (e.g., cement, metal).

SURVIVAL OUTSIDE HOST: Filoviruses have been reported capable to survive for weeks in blood and can also survive on contaminated surfaces, particularly at low temperatures (4°C).

One study could not recover any Ebolavirus from experimentally contaminated surfaces (plastic, metal or glass) at room temperature.

          • KY Mom;
Thanks for reposting that. Pool shock is super cheap and stores for a long time. Be aware that it is very caustic and don’t store it next to your tools etc because they will start to rust within a week.

Off topic; I have been away from the computer since last week… any news from Be Informed ? Also, I was hoping to see a final post from MayBeSo but I may have missed it.

            • You should also keep it away from oils, diesel fuel.mixed it will blow up.

              • Wolverine,I am intrigued,is there a certain ration for this “reaction”,is this direct contact/need a blast cap/?

          • KY Mom. Save these notes: Using Household bleach you want to look for unscented, and only about 6% Sodium Hypoclorite concentration. Just add 16 drops (1/8 of a teaspoon) to a gallon of water, stir and let stand for 30 minutes.

5-6 % sodium hypochlorite solution, referred to as ” common household chlorine bleach”, is not a seriously poisonous substance to humans. It is an alkaline salt. It is not an “acid”. However It very, very effectively kills bacteria and viruses upon contact. It is the world-wide chemical of choice for treating drinking water, or for effectively sterilizing everything from shower stalls to surgical instruments. Truthfully, very heavily chlorinated water may be more irritating to the lungs – if it is used for showers, than it is harmful to the intestinal tract if used for drinking purposes. Even drinking straight household bleach rarely results in death. The alkaline properties of undiluted bleach may cause painful chemical burns to the esophagus and stomach – but it is not deadly poisonous. Bleach must always be kept out of the reach of children – because not only might they drink it – they may get it in their eyes.

Use a regular, unscented variety that contains 5.25 to 6 percent sodium hypochlorite, and buy a lot of small bottles, because bleach’s potency diminishes after it’s opened. To treat water, add 16 drops (1/8 of a teaspoon) to a gallon of water, stir and let stand for 30 minutes. Hunt notes that ceramic filters provide good protection against bacteria, and they don’t require any energy expenditure—just gravity. “You just dump the water in the top, and it filters down,” Hunt explains. “The bacteria can’t get through the top.

        • Carry a pure copper and/or a silver coin on you too. The metals kill just about every bug they come in contact with. Maybe change all your doorknobs to solid copper if you can afford it (or just wrap them in copper). Brass kills germs too, but not as effectively.

          • Thanks for the information. I cook with copper and cast iron. I also have a copper bracelet I wear when the weather is going to change. I wouldn’t be surprised if gold is anti-germ also.

      8. Stock up on Lysol and Purel and masks. Spray everything but the buttons labeled Democrat.

      9. What about the vomit on the side of the street when he threw up the first time? What about some stray dog sniffing around the vomit or worse? And then running around licking peoples hands.

What about the emergency rooms and him sitting down and putting his Ebola hands all over the place? What if he went to the bathroom?

How many are possibly infected now?

I recommend a Calander. Mark his dates from arrival to his two visits to the mergency rooms. We should then be able to predict the next generation of Ebola infected.

        • Based on current assumptions we should expect the next generation of infections to most likely come between Oct. 10th-19th.

          Guess we’ll see.

          • YEP… THAT’S THE TIME OF THE FULL MOON TOO.

          • And this new generation of Ebola winners will spend a few days mingling with MANY people before they feel the need to hit an emergency room. And the cycle repeats and expands.

Some might have a clue what they have. But they have become radioactive, so to speak. In how to handle them.

      10. Big thanks to Mac. I always come here to get the truth from someone that see’s things the way I do my brother. Hope all is well with you and yours. GOD bless

      11. I wonder if the colder months coming upon us will help ??

        • Bj, I don’t recall where I read this, but one report indicated that cold weather actually slows these droplets in terms of dissipation, so cold weather could potentially increase the infection rate.

I am mobile right now so can’t search for the link, but will try to find it later if no one else beats me to it.

According to the Center for Aerobiological Sciences, U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick, Maryland:

            (1) Ebola has an aerosol stability that is comparable to Influenza-A

            (2) Much like Flu, Airborne Ebola transmissions need Winter type conditions to maximize Aerosol infection

“Filoviruses, which are classified as Category A Bioterrorism Agents by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Atlanta, GA), have stability in aerosol form comparable to other lipid containing viruses such as influenza A virus, a low infectious dose by the aerosol route (less than 10 PFU) in NHPs, and case fatality rates as high as ~90% .”

“The mode of acquisition of viral infection in index cases is usually unknown. Secondary transmission of filovirus infection is typically thought to occur by direct contact with infected persons or infected blood or tissues. There is no strong evidence of secondary transmission by the aerosol route in African filovirus outbreaks. However, aerosol transmission is thought to be possible and may occur in conditions of lower temperature and humidity which may not have been factors in outbreaks in warmer climates [13]. At the very least, the potential exists for aerosol transmission, given that virus is detected in bodily secretions, the pulmonary alveolar interstitial cells, and within lung spaces”

            Analysis:
Its clear that when Ebola is in the air it is at least as hardy as Influenza. Its also clear that coughing and sneezing is what makes Influenza airborne; the same should be expected of Ebola.

Moreover, just as sun, heat, and humidity along the Earths’ Equatorial regions serve to ‘burn’ Influenza out of the air, the same should be expected of Ebola. The difference with Ebola is that physical contact with even the tiniest amounts of infected bodily fluid can cause infection, hence unlike flu it also readily spreads in equatorial regions. When Ebola spreads to the regions of the Earth which experience Fall and Winter Flu seasons, airborne Ebola infectious routes are to be expected in conjunction with direct contact infection.

Ebola has the capability to infect pretty much every cell in the entire human respiratory tract. Similarly, our skin offers little resistance to even the smallest amounts of Ebola. How much airborne transmission will occur will be a function of how well Ebola induces coughing and sneezing in its victims in cold weather climates. Coughing and nasal bleeding are both reported symptoms in Africa, so the worst should be expected. In that regard, co-infections with Flu, Cold, or even seasonal Allergies will readily transform Ebola victims into biowarefare factories.

Unlike Flu, a person need not inhale airborne Ebola to be infected via airborne transmission. Merely walking through an airspace (or touching the objects therein) where an Ebola victim has coughed or sneezed is potentially enough for a cold weather infection to occur. As such, all indicators are that Ebola’s potential rate of infectious spread in cold weather climates is EXPLOSIVELY greater than what is occurring in Equatorial Africa

In that regard, the government’s Filovirus Animal Nonclinical Group [FANG] is standardizing on a Airborne Ebola Infectious “challenge” of 1000 PFU that all proposed medical countermeasures must defeat in order to gain acceptance.

            • Well crap….my thinking was obviously backwards. I thought the colder weather would help keep it down.

              • Folks, everyone should take mega doses of vitamin C. It is cheap. It is effective for most germs, maybe ebola. I take 2,000 to 4,000 mg, two to three times a day; or 6-500 mg tablets each time.

Vitamin C is water soluble, non-toxic, and the body will eliminate any that it does use. Try it. You will FEEL the difference.

Give your body the nutrients it needs to protect you. 🙂

                • “does NOT use”.

                    PKLL

                • Ebola is similar to scurvy in that both cause death from hemorraging. Vitamin C is what keeps scurvy at bay and should do the same for Ebola except it will take much higher doses as in 10,000 to 50,000 mg. per day. The only way to get that dosage without an I.V. is lipsomal vitamin C which is actually more effective and can be made at home. Start off slowly and work up to the higher doses. Check out the process for making it yourself on you tube or you can get it from Dr. Mercola’s website.

                  • I took 5000 mg of EmergenC today

Have your heard from Braveheart lately?
I’m a little worried about him.
            Sgt.

            • Howdy, Sarge, and everyone else. I’ve had work issues keeping me away from the computer since Monday but I’m back in full force. I just mentioned in 2 other posts here that at 2:00 Central Time I saw 3 fighter aircraft, either F-15s or F-18s, coming in to land most likely at the Air Nat. Guard Base located next to Memphis International Airport. This coming at the same time as all this Ebola news tells me something is up. I can feel it. Otherwise, Braveheart is OK and still prepping. Everyone get everything you can like yesterday. I think a big, big shoe could drop at anytime.

              • My post from the last article. Please note aircraft movement. I believe it goes with others that have posted arms movement.

I was being sarcastic when I posted the Government brought the virus yesterday. Truth is deep down I would have bet money they did. Remember they put the word out for contractors to relocate 60,000 illegal “children” who have now infected our children in 42 states with Obama Flu back in January of this year. Its planed people and I think we can expect it to get a lot worse in the near future.

A few weeks ago I posted heavy aircraft were flying over and to watch for something to happen in a couple weeks. Its been a pattern. Well Ocommie bombed Syria. They were flying over again yesterday so look for something to happen soon.

              • Interesting, dark choppers with no markings have been flying overhead hear. Draw a line between Columbus, Ohio and Ft. Wayne In. that is the path.

              • TRBH
                Good to see you back!
F15/18’s landing at the Air Port? Do you see them often?
Last week in I saw a lot of covered and boxed military trucks. They were all covered or boxed with a lot of them with explosive placards on them. Unknown if it was AMMO or C4. The weather here was next to perfect not a cloud in the sky or rain in the area. Who knows what is up!!

                Sgt.

                • Good evening, Sgt. Dale. We only get fighters coming in to our Air Nat. Guard base 3 or 4 times a year. There is a squadron of C-17s at this base, part of the Military Airlift Command. they just received the C-17s 6 months ago to replace the C-141s they previously had. I’ve been expecting military vehicles for the most part but no sightings of those yet. Will keep on the lookout and keep everybody advised. I’m OK, just had some problems at work that kept me from the computer since Monday, but it’s settled down, at least for now. I’m just waiting for the next gun show in my area Oct. 11-12. Time to get some more “goodies”. AIM SMALL MISS SMALL braveheart

            • Easy Dad,he has posted today, will tell him to check in with you with a call!

            • Said he’s been busy fixing work problems.

      12. My sister (who lives with us at the moment) over heard her two boses talking~~discussing the what if people are put it quarantine.

One boss said to the other
“who has two weeks of food in the house”

sister just shook her head and kept on going.

Figure it’s gonna be pretty hopeless for some.

        • I work in food service and am probably the only one in my store to be prepared. I have tried to warn people of what could be coming with this thing and give them cheap ways to have food on hand but no one ever listens.

What scares me though is that I see people in my industry as prime disease vectors. When people are sick and can’t cook, what do they do if they are hungry? They order pizza, Chinese, sandwiches, etc. for delivery. Most delivery people are not well educated and do not carry health insurance. Worse still, they don’t have a lot of income. So what exactly happens? Well, people who are sick and working in food service do not go to see a doctor and can’t afford to take time off from work so they continue working while ill. In the beginning, it will just seem like they have the flu and so they will continue to work, coughing and sneezing, spreading droplets of Ebola all around the store. These droplets will become part of thousands of people’s meals before the whole store shows signs of infection and shuts down.

When you think about it, people in the service sector, who can’t afford to take time off or go to the doctor are a prime disease vector in the US. They interact with people across the socio-economic spectrum and are the most likely to come into contact with people who have recently traveled because contact with them is unavoidable. They in turn then interact with everyone else. That is how it will spread.

      13. If you haven’t watched After Armageddon yet, go You Tube it.

        • Watch ‘Contagion’ with Matt Damon, with those standing in line for handouts–a real eye-opener.

Healthcare professionals, government officials and everyday people find themselves in the midst of a worldwide epidemic as the CDC works to find a cure.

        NOT

      16. Spell Ebola backwards, and do a google search on it 🙂

      17. One item people need to remember: Airborne vs. Aerosolized… BIG difference.

Something that is aerosolized is def a problem as tiny vapor droplets from your breath or even larger ones from a cough, or sneeze can travel short distances. These droplets can coat a surface and lay in wait for the unknowing hands to make contact, not knowing the danger that awaits. The Canadian Health Ministry had issued a WARNINIG about this Ebola and its rapid spread alluding to it being potentially ‘airborne’ or more likely aerosolized. That waring on their web site has since been taken down…wonder WHY they would do that? Hmm..

Now Airborne, on the other hand is basically floating death. The particles are so small and virulent they can attach to the particles in the air and spread as easy as pollen spores. Once a biohazard is airborne, you are about to have a really, really bad day.

        • I though Airborne was Death From Above…

      18. Backwards it’s Alobe.

I think it means : All Obey.

      19. Dr. Thomas Levy, MD has postulated that a dose of 500,000 mg of vitamin C administered intravenously may provide some hope for treating Ebola. He points out the early signs of an Ebola attack resemble scurvy and goes on to state that the strong anti-oxidation property of vitamin C could realistically safeguard your body on a cellular level. I invite all preppers to research this to see if megadose vitamin C is something you should consider.

        • That doesn’t sound right. 500,000 mg is over a pound. That would take one big-ass syringe.

          • Not only that, but vitamin C is highly acidic. That much liquid vitamin C pumped directly onto the blood stream doesn’t sound like a good thing. Cure worse than the disease?

            • Lipsomal vitamin C is more effective than the I.V. and you can administer it yourself. It isn’t as tough on your stomach as regular C.

          • Archivist – Your math is right. 500,000 mg is over a pound. It can only be administered in an intravenous bag along with saline solution. It takes about an hour for the stuff to enter your body.

Navy Vet, the key with Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is that it donates electrons, making it a remedy for free radicals. Free radicals coursing through your body bringing oxidative stress sounds much more scary to me. If you do the investigation and watch a few videos I think you will understand the risk of doing nothing during an Ebola attack.

I can’t personally vouch for this approach but I suspect that an MD being very public with these announcements means there is substance and science behind it. If true, it means there is a simple low-cost low-risk solution to what would otherwise be a death sentence. At the very least, I think it’s worth investigating, especially if Ebola starts spreading like wildfire.

            • Prepper … No disrespect, but here’s my counterpoint.

Ebola has existed for about 40 years with 4 or 5 major outbreaks and several minor ones. Lots of different treatment protocols have been tried and so far the only one that has resulted in survival is IV fluids and nutrition supplement. So some non-practicing MD is now, after 40 years of mostly failed clinical research on the disease, claiming that high dose Vitamin C is a cure? Sounds more like forsythia from the movie Contagion or Dr. Feelgood’s Snake Oil.

While I do believe, through research, that Vitamin C has health benefits, that’s why I take 500MG every day and increase to 2000mg when I get a rare cold, I also believe that massive doses of Vitamins can be just as detrimental as taking none.

BTW, where in my post did I say do nothing?

        • Prepper: Chris beat Cancer says that 15,000 mg of V-C orally, gave him the runs. 50,000 mg of V-C administered intravenously is used by European and Mexican doctors to treat HIV and Cancer.

500,000 mg is probably too much of a good thing. Consult a doctor and get a second and third opinion.

These treatments are illegal in the USA as a treatment for these diseases. 🙁

        • They do this in other countries with success…

          PKLL

        • That should be 50,000 mg. not 500,000.

      20. If it continues to spread and pops up in other states expect martial law quarantines. Its a great tool to take the control they want…conspiracy or protocol…you choose. All they had to do was let the beast out for a little bit, but what they aren’t aware of is they can’t control this beast….nature finds a way.

        • Ya, midterms in a month?
          How convenient.

      21. Just an FYI…. antibacterial soaps and gels have their place and you should definitely have them on-hand, but they don’t work on viruses, so they will not protect you from the Ebola virus.

      22. And what is the maximum effective range of the government excuse that allowed this pestilence within our country?

        Zero meters.

        • Allowed they invited it in. O-Hole gave the Liberians administrative amnesty in 2011, and TXEbola man had what should be six strikes against his visa application:

She looked at the ammo in the back of my pickup and said in a very sexy voice, “I’m a big believer in barter, big boy”. “Would you be interested in trading sex for ammo?”

I thought a few seconds and asked, “What kinda ammo ya got?”

        • To everyone, O/T, but possibly important. At 2:00 PM Central Standard Time I noticed 3 F-18 fighter planes coming in toward my local airport, but most likely headed for the Air Nat. Guard base also located in same area. I couldn’t tell whether they were Navy or Marine. Something is definitely up.

“We all know that most sovereign nations are bankrupt. But the “flight to yield” is so powerful in the system today that yields are negative in real terms. This is absolutely extraordinary.

When this bubble bursts, the REAL crisis, the crisis to which 2008 was just a warm-up, will begin. The global bond market is $100 TRILLION in size. That’s nearly TWO TIMES larger than the global stock market. And bear in mind that the only reason stocks are so high is because investors are piling into them to seek out returns.

So when this bubble bursts, it’s going to make the 2008 crisis look like a picnic.”

      29. Top Doctors: Ebola May Become Airborne … And May ALREADY Be Transmissible Via Aerosols

        http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2014/10/center-infectious-disease-research-policy-university-minnesota-ebola-may-become-airborne.html

some of the more pertinent points

“Two Infectious Disease Experts Say Ebola In Its CURRENT Form Is ALREADY Spread By Aerosols

But perhaps most challenging to the mainstream assumption that Ebola can only be spread through physical contact with a person who is showing symptoms of infection is the following explanation by two national experts on infectious disease transmission, both professors in the School of Public Health, Division of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, at the University of Illinois at Chicago (footnotes omitted):

We believe there is scientific and epidemiologic evidence that Ebola virus has the potential to be transmitted via infectious aerosol particles both near and at a distance from infected patients, which means that healthcare workers should be wearing respirators, not facemasks. [Aerosols are liquids or small particles suspended in air. An example is sea spray: seawater suspended in air bubbles, created by the force of the surf mixing water with air.]

The important points are that virus-laden bodily fluids may be aerosolized and inhaled while a person is in proximity to an infectious person and that a wide range of particle sizes can be inhaled and deposited throughout the respiratory tract.

        ***

Being at first skeptical that Ebola virus could be an aerosol-transmissible disease, we are now persuaded by a review of experimental and epidemiologic data that this might be an important feature of disease transmission, particularly in healthcare settings.

        ***

Many body fluids, such as vomit, diarrhea, blood, and saliva, are capable of creating inhalable aerosol particles in the immediate vicinity of an infected person. Cough was identified among some cases in a 1995 outbreak in Kikwit, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and coughs are known to emit viruses in respirable particles. The act of vomiting produces an aerosol and has been implicated in airborne transmission of gastrointestinal viruses. Regarding diarrhea, even when contained by toilets, toilet flushing emits a pathogen-laden aerosol that disperses in the air”

            • Southside, very good question. The only military bases we have left in Memphis is an Air National Guard base located next to our airport but it has a squadron of C-17 transport aircraft stationed there. Those F-15s might have been just coming in to refuel and were headed elsewhere since we very rarely get fighters coming in here. There’s also the old Millington Naval Air Station, which is now called Naval Support Activity, north of Memphis, which is now the Personnel HQ for the Navy. The runway at the old air base was originally built to accommodate anything up to a C-130 and C-130s still come in and out of there on occasion. We have a couple of National Guard units and there’s a Coast Guard unit on the Mississippi River here. I guess I’m just spooked by seeing those fighters at the same time this ebola scare is going on. I hope I’m wrong about something being up, but I’m not so sure. It’s really interesting what you brought up about Davis-Mouthan. I’ll keep my ears and eyes open.

Satori, on the last thread you said that a woman was calling Anderson Cooper saying that the CDC had not yet come in and cleaned the apartment where Thomas, the Ebola patient was staying nor had the Red Cross brought in the food that they were supposed to do. Just listening to a news conference on FOX where the CDC says they are going to clean the apartment and the family now has food for several days. So that’s what it takes! Have to call CNN to get some action.

        • I don’t know about anyone else, but I would have been scrubbing my home from top to bottom and not waiting for some one else to do it….food delivery?

          • I probly would have taken the spray rig filled with bleach to everything including me!

      36. If someone sneezes in a crowd the tiny droplets are moved around by the breeze created by the moving people. Who knows how long they remain in the air and how far they travel.

      37. We just had a couple of solar flares, M1.4 and M7.3, in the past couple of hours.

        • Where is BI when we need him?

          • apparently BI eppe and a few others have left. Its possible they didn’t have thick enough skin? Any road since eppe isn’t here I have decided to post jokes. after 40+ years of driving truck and operating heavy equiptment I know a few. I know some so rank I couldn’t even tell them here. Any way I think this whole Ebola thing is a joke. like Y2K the mayan 2012 end of world prediction ect. its gonna be a fizzle. You folks are falling for the government lies & distractions. Educate your self about the magnetic pole shift & coming End of an Age earth changing clatyclismic events.

            • OG
I hope you are wrong they have been great for this site. If they have left I feel sorry for us. They had a lot of info for us and helped us get through a lot.
Brave, Bi, Eppe I hope you are just on leave for a while.
I for one what you to come back. We might not always agree but you guys make me think!!!!
              Sgt. Dale

              • They seem to have their stuff together, that’s for sure. I hope they come back.

              • I hope BI, Brave and Eppe come back soon, too Sgt. Dale. We need all bright minds on deck just now! Evil is coming our way.

                • Bright minds on deck?!Eh,mine feels a little tarnished but will give the bright a try!

              • conversation early 1918

“oh this flu thingy ain’t so bad”

                conversation late 1918

“so which funeral home is burying YOUR family ?”

            • OK, so Y2K and 2012 fizzled, and we are falling for government lies, but beware of the pole shift and the end of the age? Are you fucking serious?

Pole shifts have happened, no doubt – End of an Age? Lay off the Zeitgeist Movies – socialist propoganda. Y2K was very real for a small select group of antiquated computers, it was the doomsday folks that blew it out of proportion.

2012 was the end of the age, for the Mayan people, who were very adept at time keeping. I know, I know, we are leaving the Age of Pisces into … wait for it:

              THE AGE OF AQUARIOUS!

Everyone will be saved as the new messiah descends upon us commoners and offers to life up our hearts to a glorious age of peace and prosperity. Yay.

Since the water-bearer will be our new savior for the Age, we should select someone like Adam Sandler… he was in that move Waterboy, right?

              • Ok tell the folks in assumption parish that everything is ok. Tell the folks just killed in the japan volcano eruption and the fukasama everything is hunky dory with the planet. The fact is the magnetic pole shifting puts a twist in the magnosphere. that twist affects everything from the jet stream to plate techtonics. the north magnetic pole shifting by more than 100 miles in a single year is something to be concerned about. Its the old cause and effect rule. For every action there is a complete & opposite reaction. If you don’t think the government knows about the pole shift? do a search for U.S, navy future map of North America. The magnetic poles don’t have to do a complete reversal to cause major clatyclismic earth changes.

            • OLD GUY.

              Enough Thick Skin? Hahaha!

Nothing says we have to stay here forever. There are those who achieve their goal and move on. Me? I am a glutton for punishment. Sooner or later the old guys like yourself will make their move and be gone like the wind. Leaving the Newbies to fend for themselves. Just not our time, yet! ;0)

              • Or get bored
                Or get busy
                Or the computer dies
                Or you have to move
                Or you bug out

                • Kulafarmer.

Or they come and take you away, Ha Ha.

      38. Now that it has come out, just today, that the Liberian with Ebola in Dallas lied on his customs declaration when departing Monrovia airport, it’s undeniably apparent that he probably knew he had been exposed and made a fast exit for the U.S. where he knew he’d have the best chance to survive. Perhaps that’s why he was so forthcoming with the Dallas hospital during his first visit, about having just traveled from Liberia…he wanted Ebola treatment to get started as quickly as possible but didn’t want to come right out and implicate himself for having lied to get here.

He had to have either a visa for a temporary visit or a green card. There’s no indication so far that he has a green card, so what type of visa did he have in terms of how many entries was he allowed to make and for how long? Was it a multiple entry visa good for a year or longer? Was it a single entry visa?

HE HAD TO HAVE A VISA ISSUED BY THE U.S. EMBASSY, IF HE IS NOT A GREEN CARD HOLDER.

So, why aren’t we cancelling all U.S. visas for travelers from the hot zone countries?? Unless this Dallas guy has, and lives long enough to offer, a good explanation for what he stated on his customs declaration, it should be presumed that everyone in the hot zone countries will say whatever they have to say and do whatever they have to do to get out to the U.S., regardless of how many others they expose in the process.

Unbelievable that stringent border procedures and a crackdown on U.S. visas have not been put in place already.

This Dallas guy is just some yokel who made it in, easy as pie. There’s no excuse for this to have happened….and it shows quite clearly that current protocols are not at all effective.

        • I was right.

It’s being reported now that this Dallas guy knew he was infected, had previously obtained a U.S. visa, had just quit/abandoned his job due to a vehicle accident in which he was involved as a cargo delivery driver, and decided to just go for it and get to the U.S. to have chance to survive.

Many are saying that he should be charged with intentional murder and bringing a weapon of mass destruction. Can’t hardly argue with that….

But what we CAN do is avoid housing cesspools like his girlfriend’s apartment complex in Dallas, which is apparently known as “little Sierra Leone” because of the high number of Liberians renting apartments there. Apartment owners in America truly need to stop catering to 3rd world carriers of disease, filthy habits, slovenly lifestyles, subpar standards, and lack of assimilation and acceptance of American standards. City councils need to review what they can do to weed out these housing slums, even if it means a reduction in tax revenue. There is too much at stake and it’s high time this country put a stop to this crap.

      39. Delay in Dallas Ebola Cleanup as Workers Balk at Task

        http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/03/us/dallas-ebola-case-thomas-duncan-contacts.html?_r=0

quote from the head of the Texas Health Department

        “don’t worry,we got dis ”

        it’s been a week
        and…
“The Texas health commissioner, Dr. David Lakey, told reporters during an afternoon news conference that health workers should have moved more swiftly to clean the apartment but that they had had trouble finding an outside medical team to do the work. They encountered “a little bit of hesitancy,” he said.

“We are arranging for that apartment to be cleaned,” he said. “The house conditions need to be improved.”

and then there is this blather

““We have tried-and-true protocols to protect the public and stop the spread of this disease,” Dr. Lakey said. “This order gives us the ability to monitor the situation in the most meticulous way.”

am I the only one who wants to punch these LYING idiots
        in the head ???

apparently these “tried-and-true protocols” they speak of
are hiding in the same place Waldo is

      40. Ma was in the kitchen fiddling around when she hollers out,
“Pa! You need to go out and fix the outhouse!”
Pa replies, “There ain’t nuthin wrong with the outhouse.”
Ma yells back, “Yes there is, now git out there and fix it.”

So Pa mosies out to the outhouse, looks around and yells back,
“Ma! There ain’t nuthin wrong with the outhouse!”

“Ma replies, “Stick yur head in the hole!”
Pa yells back, “I ain’t stickin my head in that hole!
“Ma says, “Ya have to stick yur head in the hole to see what to fix.”
So with that, Pa sticks his head in the hole, looks around and yells back,
“Ma! There ain’t nuthin wrong with this outhouse!”

Ma hollers back, “Now take your head out of the hole!”
Pa proceeds to pull his head out of the hole, then starts yelling,

“Ma! Help! My beard is stuck in the cracks in the toilet seat!”

        To which Ma replies,

        “Hurts, don’t it?!

        • Now, see that’s funny right there!

        • Old Guy, that was pretty good. keep them coming.

      41. Info was released by a company that makes hazmat suits, body bags, etc.that the govt. has bought 600,000 hazmat suits, over a million body bags and coffins. The govt. notified hazmat groups to prepare to be activated on Oct. 1st. Sounds like they knew what was coming and is on purpose. With open borders anybody can walk across sick(school kids all over the country are sick)probably from illegals,no restricted flights and the CDC stepping all over themselves dealing with it. Paranoid? Anybody here trust the government’s response? Perfect opportunity for Martial Law when it gets bad and negates upcoming elections.

      42. Jeez, if it becomes airborne I wonder what will be its flight time from Dallas to the Mid Atlantic…..Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmm.

        • Hmmmmmm indeed

      43. Early and off topic (Sorry): What will we be thankful for this THANKSGIVING, the future looks very bleak right now. We always are, but this month seems to be more of living day to day than ever. Prepare; for we do not know what tomorrow brings.

      46. If evidence surfaces that this ebola strain has been weaponized and deliberately allowed to spread within the United States, then it is time for all true patriots to begin executing all the top traitors in the government, military, intelligence agencies, Federal Reserve, and other agencies who are taking part in the destruction of America.

This must be done.No more talking and discussing what these tyrants have been doing.

      47. Everybody who saw my post yesterday….called my brother in law in Boston. He said he is not all that worried about Ebola. But he doesn’t know a whole lot about it,either. Needless to say,I will not be receiving any left around the lab preventive stuff. On my own.

      48. BTW: France and Great Britan have banned flights to and from West Africa. How come we have not? And where are the UNIONS on this???????

      49. Thomas Duncan flew from Liberia to Europe and then to America whilst he had the Ebola virus… Let’s take a minute to think about that… Any cough, sweat or sneeze that came out of him is stuck on anything he passed on his journey. On the plane: The remote for the TV, His seat may have sweat, the air hostess who would have taken his dinner tray, he most likely went to the toilet (As did almost everyone else on the plane) and many more possibilities and then all the people he could have came into contact with going through customs e.t.c.. We all touch door handles, bannisters on stairs, buttons for elevators and much more. The maximum number of days for Ebola to develop is 21 days so within that time we are going to see A LOT of cases. Stay safe everyone (and don’t put anything in your mouth unless you know it’s safe)

      50. can we go 5 freaking minutes
without hearing a story of the gross incompetence
of those who are supposed to be protecting the public from ebola?

There must be right to be safe from male students, no matter what a female teacher is wearing.

You cannot deny a female teacher the right to teach in the Toronto District School Board
because her suit shows cleavage. It’s her choice. The students should learn not to stare rape
        the female teacher.

The Elementary Federation of Ontario Teachers absolutely believe a female teacher has a right to wear whatever she wants
to work. If she wants to wear a low ride jeans or show cleavage, the Toronto District School Board should not deny
        the female teacher that right.

We must vote for Olivia Chow on October 27, 2014 if women are to be treated fairly in Toronto.

      54. The POTUS is to be in Southern Indiana Fri. Government shutting down Hwy. US 41 from Evansville to Princeton for him. No time released as to his visit or speech. Its not open to the public closed for what ever reason. You can bet the sky will be full of drones.

        you do that

      59. Experts: Ebola Could be Transmitted “At a Distance” From Infected Victims

        http://www.prisonplanet.com/experts-ebola-could-be-transmitted-at-a-distance-from-infected-victims.html

        salient points

        “unclear modes of transmission.”

““We believe there is scientific and epidemiologic evidence that Ebola virus has the potential to be transmitted via infectious aerosol particles both near and at a distance from infected patients, which means that healthcare workers should be wearing respirators, not facemasks,” states the article.”

“Making reference to “controversy about whether Ebola virus can be transmitted via aerosols,” the authors assert that the current understanding that Ebola can only be transmitted by by direct contact with virus-laden fluids is “incorrect and outmoded.”

what was that last part again???

        oh yeah

        “outmoded and INCORRECT ”

““Being at first skeptical that Ebola virus could be an aerosol-transmissible disease, we are now persuaded by a review of experimental and epidemiologic data that this might be an important feature of disease transmission, particularly in healthcare settings,” states the article.”

        and finally

“Michael T. Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, also acknowledged in a recent New York Times op-ed that virologists are “loath to discuss openly but are definitely considering in private” the possibility that Ebola has gone airborne.”

“CONSIDERING IN PRIVATE ‘THE POSSIBILITY THAT EBOLA HAS GONE AIRBORNE”

      60. The website of the Canadian Ministry of Health said that Ebola was airborne. At least until today, when the statement was removed. Can’t contradict the all knowing CDC.

      61. Three hours later and I finally got through moderation . this site is a joke. If you really want to live you should make yor own site. I dont know how to do it on my own but Im sure some someone can. ILeave it up to you.

        • My tech rep can help you with starting your own forum. Piece of cake. Getting traffic is another story.

      62. Enough with this Ebola crap. It is nowhere near a pandemic risk, and not worth panicking over. I’m more afraid of catching HIV from some faggot sneezing on the apples at the fruit stand than I am of Ebola.

      63. I wish I could post without a three hour moderation. our lives are dependent on what we know as a collective of like minded individuals and if this site screens us we are pretty much dead. we need to be minute by minute or we are just sheep. [email protected] is my email.Keep me in the Know I do not want to be misinformed because of moderation.

Curtis & Leroy saw an ad in the Starkville Daily in Starkville , MS. and bought a mule for $100.

The farmer agreed to deliver the mule the next day.

The next morning the farmer drove up and said,”Sorry, fellows, I have some bad news, the mule died last night.”

Curtis & Leroy replied,” Well, then just give us our money back.”

The farmer said,”Can’t do that. I went and spent it already.”

They said, “OK then, just bring us the dead mule.”

The farmer asked, “What in the world ya’ll gonna do with a dead mule?”

Curtis said, “We gonna raffle him off.”

The farmer said, “You can’t raffle off a dead mule!”

Leroy said, “We shore can! Heck, we don’t hafta tell nobody he’s dead!”

A couple of weeks later, the farmer ran into Curtis & Leroy at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store and asked.

“What’d you fellers ever do with that dead mule?”

They said,”We raffled him off like we said we wuz gonna do.”

Leroy said,”Shucks, we sold 500 tickets fer two dollars apiece and made a profit of $998.”

The farmer said,”My Lord, didn’t anyone complain?”

Curtis said, “Well, the feller who won got upset. So we gave him his two dollars back.”

Curtis and Leroy now work for the government.

MERS patient in Austria assumed infectious on Doha-Vienna flight: WHO

Reuters By Tom Miles and Shadia Nasralla8 hours ago

By Tom Miles and Shadia Nasralla

GENEVA/VIENNA (Reuters) – A Saudi woman suffering from Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is assumed to have been infectious when she flew from Doha to Vienna on Sept. 22, the World Health Organization said on Thursday.

The virus, which causes coughing, fever and sometimes fatal pneumonia, has been reported in more than 800 patients, mainly in Saudi Arabia.

“The Austrian health authorities assume that the patient was infectious prior to and during the international flights. Follow-up with passengers on the flight is ongoing and personal data of the crew on the flight has been communicated to Qatar,” a WHO statement said.

“All of the contacts identified in Austria have been informed about the disease and are being followed up by Austrian health authorities,” it added.

Two of the Saudi patient’s close contacts were hospitalized in Vienna with upper respiratory symptoms but Austria’s Health Ministry said on Thursday they had tested negative for MERS.

A 37-year-old Hong Kong man leading a tour group on the flight from Doha had also come into close contact with the patient, but had not shown any symptoms of MERS, said the Hong Kong government.

The man and the 42 members of his group were currently in Poland and would be monitored when they returned to Hong Kong on Oct. 4, the government added.

Hong Kong’s Centre for Health Protection was contacting Polish health authorities to follow up on the man’s case, it said.

The 29-year-old patient had originally traveled by car from Afif in Saudi Arabia, via Riyadh, and had an upper respiratory infection and fever before she arrived in Austria.

She sought medical treatment in Austria on Sept. 24 and was transferred to a private hospital on Sept. 26, then on Sept. 28 to a hospital specializing in highly infectious diseases, where she is in a stable condition.

At least 301 MERS-related deaths have been reported to WHO out of 853 laboratory-confirmed cases since the disease emerged in Saudi Arabia in 2012. But the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control says 352 deaths have been reported to public health authorities worldwide, out of 887 confirmed cases.

A WHO Emergency Committee said on Wednesday that global defenses against MERS needed to be strengthened, especially in Africa, before a likely seasonal resurgence of the disease next spring.

The disease is thought to originate in camels and, aside from travel-related cases, all MERS cases have been confined to the Arabian peninsula, Lebanon, Jordan and Iran.

The third kind is Bedroom Sex. You’ve calmed down a bit, perhaps

The fourth kind is Hallway Sex. This is where you pass each other

There is also a fifth kind of sex: Courtroom Sex. This is when

There was drift logs and tires and wheels there. we drug out some logs and cut them up for fire wood and sold it. got the tires and wheels and took them to a remote area and burnt them. took the rims and sold them for scrap a Sipero Bros. That got us started being scavengers. We had a few acres so we put adds up wanting free stuff. you would be surprised what folks throw away and will give you. We where given appliances cars trucks animals building materials all kinds of stuff. covered out place with junk and was making money. we got the bad produce from some supermarkets and fed pigs & goats. Our neighbors hated us. back then there weren’t any county ordinaces. Eventually a few neighbors got together and pooled their money and made us a generious offer to buy our place. We took the money and came back to Arkansas . If you have Know How & are self reliant you can do almost any thing you set your mind to.

        • Me and one of my exes lived by scavenging and scrapping. We cleaned out garages and attics, were paid for labor and usually got to keep whatever we hauled out. Sometimes there was treasure, sometimes trash. It all works out in the end, as long as you keep working, doesn’t it?
