We Need a Revolution

Do you LOVE America?

This article was originally published by Ron Paul at The Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity.

A recent Washington Post/University of Maryland poll found that 34 percent of Americans think violent action against the government can be justifiable. This view is held by 40 percent of Republicans and 23 percent of Democrats.

The result may seem surprising since leftists have been responsible for much of the recent politically-motivated violence, and many Democrats have called for violence against Trump supporters. However, the cultural Marxists appear to have (temporarily) ceased using violence as a tactic—although had President Trump won reelection, it may well have been ANTIFA members inside the Capitol on January 6 trying to “stop the steal.”

The rising support for violence against government is rooted in the growing (and justified) belief that the people’s liberties are being taken by a ruling class that is indifferent at best, and hostile at worst, to their values and concerns.

The devastation wrought by the lockdowns, as well as the conflict over the promotion of masks, vaccines, critical race theory, and transgenderism, heighten these social tensions.

Another major contributor to the social unrest is the economy. Rising prices combined with supply shortages and the increasing national debt are all signs that we may be witnessing the final days of the Keynesian welfare-warfare state. Unless Congress immediately begins to cut spending and transition to a free-market monetary system, America will soon face a major economic crisis. The crisis will likely be caused by a collapse of the dollar’s value. This will likely lead to increased violence. The violence will start when those who believe they are entitled to live off the stolen property of their fellow citizens decide to take matters into their own hands because the government can no longer do the looting for them.

The only way to avoid this fate is by a revolution. I am not speaking of a violent revolution that replaces one form of authoritarianism with another, but a peaceful revolution of ideas. This revolution aims to replace the authoritarian interventionist ideology that dominates both the left and right wings of the ruling class with the ideas of liberty. Such a revolution would restore respect for individual liberty, constitutional government, free markets, a non-interventionist foreign policy, and sound money.

The revolution of ideas would resolve social conflicts by getting the government out of social issues and instead allowing private property owners to, for example, decide who can and cannot use which restroom on their property. It would also restore control over education to parents. The goal is to respect the rights of each individual to live their lives as they choose as long as they do not violate the rights of others to do the same.

A free market with a sound currency would release lower-income Americans from the Federal Reserve’s inflation tax as well as provide them with expanded economic opportunities. The growing economy would reduce tensions between races and lead Americans to view immigrants as an asset rather than a burden.

A free and peaceful society cannot be brought about by a violent revolution. Instead, it must occur via peaceful conversation of a critical mass of citizens. When that critical mass is reached, even many authoritarian politicians will endorse liberty and limited government out of fear of losing reelection if they do not. Therefore, the best thing those of us who know the truth can do to restore a free society is to convert as many people as possible to the movement for liberty, peace, and prosperity.

      1. Thanks Ron Paul for fighting the good fight. Your run for the Presidency gave Americans a chance to “right” the ship-of-state. Unfortunately, the two major political parties did NOT allow for any other contenders. Your voice of reason & a return to “founding principles” might have saved the sinking ship.

Our current highly partisan divide is like the Hatfields & McCoys feuds of the past. Each camp is firmly placed with NO possibility of compromise (even discussion) with the other. One party (Demonrats) wants a one-party dictatorship & has no respect for individual rights – how does anyone compromise with that.

        • Both major parties as it currently stands are worthless with the dem’s being the worst. ALL current members should be removed and new people installed. NO past political associations with any level of power would be not invited. will this happen HELL no, but it is what is needed to save this country. most all would be held in prions awaiting prosecution for many charges most of all for dereliction of duty to uphold the constitution.

      2. The political parties was a tool to use against us from the very beginning and so the old “DIVIDE and CONQUEOR” became the dems and the repubs which is still a well conceived plan by the evil ones. There should be NO parties only the PEOPLE of the USA whom will have different ideas based upon their views.
ANYTHING else is a open chaotic mess to keep us inline with the HIDDEN ones, who are the real powers that run this country. for anyone who does NOT know this you need to wake up and see.

      3. ” I am not speaking of a violent revolution that replaces one form of authoritarianism with another, but a peaceful revolution of ideas.”

The Left has already done that and won it.

Unlikely that any counter revolution from the right will succeed until the Leftist one has totally failed and those that conducted it, the majority of Americans, are dissatisfied and disillusioned about getting what they wanted to start with.

Like the Communist revolutions of the early 20th century, probably be 70 or so years -3 generations- before that happens.

So get used to going the direction we are going now and try to carve out a survivable position for yourself in it.

      4. You cannot have a peaceful revolution when you are fighting against communists. Period.

      5. ??? we need a revolution! Some of us have been trying to wake up the others but it’s like talking to a brick wall. They are either stupid, cowards or don’t care. So, let the consequences go ahead. They think it’s all conspiracy theories? Ok. Shit is happening right before their eyes. Humans are cowards. Have been since time began. That’s why the rich have been getting with murder.

      6. Getting away with murder.

        • Parents that get their kids covid vaxxed are getting away with murder too.

          • I see that. Kids are passing away from vaccines that the “experts” know nothing about. If they don’t die now can you imagine the higher cancer rates there will be later in their lives?

      7. RP said, “The violence will start when those who believe they are entitled to live off the stolen property of their fellow citizens decide to take matters into their own hands because the government can no longer do the looting for them.”

These emotionally-needy will just establish a new system, left to their own devices. The 99% multiply under farm-animal-like slavery and, in a state of freedom, they decline. (Seriously, study the historical fates of feral vs. captive hominids.)

Following collapses upon collapses, garbage pile upon unserviced pile, layer upon layer of earth, every civilization eventually has all the same market forces and utilities to cope with the universal living needs of what is a mob, herd, or social specie — mankind.

I have sincerely enjoyed the company of creative and intelligent people of independent motivation. The true 1% or plutocrats, who would have to leverage resources against the terminally-stupid, just to get a moment’s peace.

      8. Red pilling the population will be a shock when their family, friends and children drop dead, but most of the left will still have their dillusions and hate, and burn the cities they created down, destroying themselves. Let the cities burn as it says in Revelations.

        • “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.”

Even after a thousand years of this, they still regress / revert to the mean so are tempted.

        • No red pilling for most people, ego has put them where they are and pride will keep them there.

A few will change, but most will not.

      9. Are you serious! This idea and type of revolution is as bogus as can be. Let’s all talk and readjust our thinking? BS, Those rich, powerful, controlling “elite”, will use talk to their advantage. Come on Paul, you really think the “elites”. care at all about the citizens of the United States? And you think they, you, will give up any power or wealth, for the good of society? Yet another example of one of the so-called leaders of our country, expressing useless, and never happening pipe dream(s), on the people of the United States. Sure, looks like the United States is headed for what has happened in Argentina. And, Paul, you sir are part of the problem, with your foolish thinking!

        • Ron Paul’s incessant whining is what kept him away from the White House. That and his little muppet arms waving everywhere all of the time. Both were distracting enough to take away from his overall message.

Then again, listen to them. All of them; the poltiticians and the pundits. All they do is whine.

Once upon a time I felt deeply that Ron Paul was a patriot, that is until I realized he’s only playing a part in the overall theater. He’s useless. A hunky dory placating simpleton keeping everyone’s attention on his non important whining while providing zero real solutions.

Shut up, Ron Paul. Useless assclown. It’s time for more than words, and if words worked you would have done more with them when you actually held a position that mattered. You and Trey Gowdy can both suck a huge elephant schlong.

      10. Democrats are NOT “Americans”.

        • Democrats are Chinese then.

      11. I think this is among the most vital information for me. And i am glad reading
your article. But should remark on some general things, The website style is perfect, the articles
is really great : D. Good job, cheers

      12. “The tree of liberty must be refreshed, from time to time. with the blood of Tyrants and Patriots”.

      13. Does this mean that Ron Paul will soon be arrested for seditious conspiracy since he openly wants a “peaceful” revolution?

        Orwell was right:
Looks like telling the truth IS a revolutionary act these days.
