Watch: “Alexa, Are You Connected To The C.I.A. ?”

It’s no secret that Amazon Web Services provides cloud storage for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and other foreign governments.

This, of course, begs the question of whether or not Amazon and the CIA have a relationship outside of just the web services being provided.

The following videos suggest that either something is wrong with Alexa, or someone at Amazon has specifically coded the software to ensure Alexa doesn’t publicly acknowledge an inappropriate relationship wherein Amazon may be sharing or aggregating information directly or indirectly for intelligence organizations.

The user first asks if Alexa will lie to him, to which the bot responds no.

He then asks Alexa if it can tell him what the CIA is, to which the bot responds correctly after a second attempt.

Finally, the user asks the bot whether or not it is connected to the CIA, at which point Alexa simply shuts down or responds that it is having trouble.

And it’s not an isolated case:

The fact is that “smart” TV’s, assistance devices like Alexa and even the microphone on your cellphone can now provide LIVE feeds of conversations going on in our homes directly through the internet.

You may think you’ve done nothing wrong and that there would be no reason for an intelligence agency in the United States or elsewhere to capture this data, but that doesn’t mean they’re not doing it.

As Edward Snowden revealed, quite literally every single internet-connected device is now accessible in real time by the very software he developed:

  1. Jim in Va. says:

Big govt. is checking to see if you’re naughty or nice…….

  2. B from CIA says:

The CIA is conducting illegal operations.

The CIA is in business to protect the Republic from foreign threats. The U.S. Corporation under the Queen, who is under the thumb of The City of London & The Rothschilds Banking Cartel…

    __ ???

  3. Justice says:

I wish I could get the CIA to watch my package deliveries so that people quite stealing them. This is an important lesson, that anything left outside WILL be stolen.

  4. Ketchupondemand says:

B, if the cia is in the business of protecting the Republic (what’s left of it, anyway) they should read what the Washington Free Beacon is reporting, and that is there are 25,000 Chinese spies in the US and another 15,000 recruits.

Someone ask Alexa if they’re on this.

  5. rednek101 says:

This will keep you up at night. The story of the beginning of domestic surveillance.

Here’s where the real action is…”Domestic Surveillance Directorate”. The name says it all.

  6. NOBODY says:

If they are listening in on me, they are probably having nightmares…Or laughing their asses off!

  7. Sierra Dave says:

I’m never going to get Alexa. But I’m curious what I could get out of it. Like asking about I.P. addresses. A lite form of hacking. Asking who the President of Amazon is and then asking for an email address…

    • Plan twice, prep once says:

Siri is a fad toy, my son bought one, they used it for a few weeks, and stopped using it after the novelty wore off.

He unplugged it because unused it’s just a bug waiting to be hacked in his house, and that’s assuming it wasn’t made with a huge black door like every other computer device made anywhere in the world and especially China.

  8. Stormy says:

Slow fake news day – Black Lives Matter edition. LOL

  9. boyo says:

I keep asking Alexa those questions at other people’s houses.

The general response is more from the home owner and not Alexa. “Don’t you get me on one of those f$#king lists!”

Face it. You’re on the list. I’d rather be closer to the top. I figure less suffering.

  10. I asked the question on a brother’s device and the answer that I got was “No, I work for Amazon”.

  11. Justice says:

This article inspired me, that perhaps I need to be able to conduct a little counter surveillance myself. So I finally got a decent pair of binoculars.

I wanted a pair of Vortex but my god they are pricey.

  12. Jersey Tom says:

He named the wireless router CIA…. This is smoke and mirrors. I can get my folks Alexa to say this as well.

  13. LowCountry Buckeye says:

Had one for a while kinda of fun. The damn thing gave that “I don’t understand the question” response most of the time.

Threw in trash when we were talking politics and it asked if she could answer our question unprompted.

  14. The Deplorable Braveheart says:

Justice, get a pair of Nikons. Not TOO pricey but still worht the money. Same for Leupold. I wanted a pair of Steiner’s once but they’re even MORE pricey than Nikon or Leupold.

    • Justice says:

Braveheart, a just ordered a pair of returned Bushnell Binocular Bundle: Trophy XLT Roof Prism Binoculars, 10x42mm was $120.00 on sale 94.61 but it’s open box for $70.00 plus it was an Amazon Prime Item (like another 10-15%): Total with Tax $61.00. Plus it comes with the Deluxe harness.

Steiner optics are top notch but have a price tag to match. The one I just got is a major upgrade on the cheap pair I have already.

      • Capt Hale says:

I had a nice pair of binoculars. Looked through them at my kids baseball game. Had a double image thing going on. Figured they had been dropped and I chucked em in the trash. The next week I found out I needed glasses… wish I had those binoculars back. – Hale

  15. The Deplorable Braveheart says:

Maybe someone could look in my ass and see if ISIS is in there, LOL!

  16. Verbum Vincet says:

That’s certainly troubling! Still, I don’t see many people ridding themselves of these and similar devices. Hell, I don’t see many taking ANY precautions against government spying. I guess we’ll have to learn the hard way, as usual. On many levels, I might add…

42 years ago, Idaho Senator Frank Church warned us about where this is heading. And while the CIA has unquestionably committed numerous domestic crimes, I think this aspect of Big Brother is probably more within the purview of the NSA.

  17. Oren says:

So what if the CIA is watching? I could café less. I have nothing to hide. If they want to watch thru their satellites, go for it. I’ve been known to walk outside in my shorts and piss in the yard. Wanna listen, go ahead. I’m 71 years old, a cranky old fart. You’ll hear a lot of bitching and complaining. So go ahead, CIA. I don’t care.

  18. Jim in Va. says:

Alright ISIS…come on out or we’re dropping the mother of all bombs on Braveheart! stay at your peril!

  19. Archivist says:

Did anyone else notice that the people in the first two videos were hardly understandable to us, let alone a speech recognition program?

I guess everyone’s heard about a child having Alexa order her a huge expensive dollhouse, and then when the story aired on TV, the replay caused Alexa’s all over town to order more dollhouses.

  20. Sally Scissors says:

I was invited over by my boss (who I don’t like) for a work party, and told his Alexa to order a dozen double dongs.

  21. lena says:

There’s a reason why drive a 10 year old car, leave the cell phone at home if possible, have TVs that still use tubes and pay cash as much as possible.

I realize that one day soon, i’ll be able to be tracked no matter what I try to not be tracked; but at least I can leave small footprints and very little history until then.

although, no one should be under any illusion; that if some govt group wants to find you; they will.

  22. grandee says:

Why would anyone have one of those things in their home?????

  23. dudette says:

It’s not the CIA which is listening, but the NSA. See, Alexa didn’t lie; she just wasn’t asked the correct question.

  24. vocalpatriot says:

This is absolutely without precedence and needs to be completely squashed with extreme prejudice!!!
Not only is there no possible scenario where this meets constitutional criteria but this doesn’t even come close. It is completely 180 degrees out of phase with the intent of the founders, has absolutely NO PLACE in America in any way, shape, manner or form.

  25. The answer has been changed to “no, I work for Amazon”
