Many parents of newborns are starting to panic as the shortage of baby formula begins to hit stores nationwide. Drugstore chains like Walgreens and CVS have announced they would limit how many baby formula products each shopper can purchase at a given time.

According to a report by ZeroHedge, at retail locations across the United States, about 40 percent of the top-selling infant formula products were not in stock for the week ending April 24, said Datasembly. The company said that it has tracked baby formula stock at more than 11,000 stores nationwide.

This is a shocking number that you don’t see for other categories,” Ben Reich, CEO of Datasembly, told CBS News.  “We’ve been tracking it over time and it’s going up dramatically. We see this category is being affected by economic conditions more dramatically than others,” Reich added.

Just The Beginning: Nationwide Rationing of Baby Formula

In a statement, Reich cited inflation, product recalls, and supply chain shortages as to why there is “an unprecedented amount of volatility for baby formula.” And he believes that the shortages will continue in the near future. “We expect to continue to see the baby formula category being dramatically affected by these conditions,” Reich said. “Baby formula stock, which has been one of the more affected categories so far in 2022, and one that will continue to demonstrate higher than average out-of-stock levels.”

In February, a major baby formula producer, Abbott Nutrition, recalled numerous lots of its products following reports of bacterial illnesses in infants. Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a notice to consumers telling them not to consume any products manufactured at Abbott’s facility in Sturgis, Michigan, over concerns of contamination.

This is only one of the many items we are going to have problems getting in the near future. If you haven’t already started to put a few things back just in case, you are running out of time. It is not going to begin and end with baby formula. The bird flu is being used as an excuse to kill off entire flocks of birds used for meat and eggs. Food supply and manufacturing facilities are burning down. Farmers aren’t planting. We are staring famine in the face. Get ready.

      1. As the shortage grows, how many babies will have to starve to death?

Is there nothing that can be done to prevent it?

Maybe Congress should start having hearings, a step towards a renewed abundance as we have had in the past.

        • I was going to post a longer comment, but I can’t stop laughing.

      2. So the people that fund their own demise without a clue, pay for everything with cards, shop amazon, walmart, etc., go about their business like everything will be ok because the TV told them so, don’t prep for anything, can’t think for themselves, love facebook/twitter etc., and the endless plethora of other mindless things that are self destructive without a care are now complaining about the fruits of their labor? The cows are coming home, the chickens are roosting, the seeds they have sown are sprouting.

        • Agreed. Everyone has had plenty of time to prepare.

      3. Anyone out there who hasn’t
        seen this coming has not
        been paying attention.
The time to prep and get
        ready was years ago.

      4. Get ready for what?

That’s not very practical advice over agitating political reps at all levels of government to Congress and the Senate to prevent problems. And, directly joining a political party to try to help other like-minded supporters keep key people accountable.

Most preppers looking forward to a collapse, are just storing food and supplies for those better armed and organized to take it from them if things really do go bad.

      5. My thoughts of 18+ and now are so different.
It takes lots of guidance to gain knowledge we now have.
I wasn’t taught crap–I had to learn it all by myself.

        • Exactly, me too! Luckily I had a few friends that knew stuff and I have always been the tear it apart and see how it works kinda guy. I also read a lot about things that interest me and being a poor kid I had cheap old cars that I had to learn to fix myself. I actually liked working on cars, fixing stuff, electronics, etc. But now I’m old and hate it lol. If I only had my 18 year old body again…..

          • P.S. Kids today don’t want to learn shit! A few maybe but for the most part they are spoiled and stupid. They even have bicycle repair shops lol. The only tools they have is a stupidphone…

            • The majority of the population is being controlled by a PHONE.
              Not just the kids.
I personally know several people in their 60’s that would rather donate a kidney than to part with their phone and tablet and never get on the Internet again.

              • FWIW, I recently tried to access my PayPal account, something I rarely do any more, one that I’ve had since the beginning of PayPal, and discovered that I am no longer allowed to access it without a smart phone to receive a text on for verification codes. No other way to verify, no e-mail verification codes (the way everything from my bank to eBay does, no security questions, no phone call to a customer service rep, no nothing. You either have a mobile phone with text messaging or you’re out.

I did manage to cancel my account over the phone, and have no intention of getting a smart phone, along with another monthly bill for it, so I don’t plan to ever open another one. I no longer trust PayPal the way I used to, something just not right here.

I’m old (very old for men in my family) and may not see it, but I predict in the near future you will be pretty much locked out of participating in most of life’s normal, and even essential, activities if you don’t have everything you think do and say tied directly to a smart phone.

What a world we live in, what a world.

      6. These big pharmaceutical companies producing the vaccine have not received approval to vaccinate the very young, or infants. One way to assure that the vaccine spike proteins will be passed onto an infant is through mothers breastfeeding. Removing available baby formula from the market now forces mothers to breastfeed. There is also an outbreak of hepatitis among the very young, with several requiring liver transplants and deaths. CDC “immediately” stated it was not the vaccine based on the ages…unable to vaccinate.

      7. GET THE TITS OUT OF MOTHBALLS

      8. Wow, fertilizer shortage, processing plant fires, baby food shortages. And RU reclaiming Ukraine. Wow, the Cohencidence!

        • Many different things are always happening at the same time.

          Doesn’t mean they’re causally related.

      9. first baby formula. my guess next is chicken and chicken products. with the bird flu, some dog foods are already doing without chicken as its too expensive. how long before there is not enough chicken to go around for the average person ? my guess is less than six months and chicken is only for the wealthy because of the expense and short supply.

      10. And this is why the good lord equipped you with BOOBS!!

        • It takes almost two dozen posts, before someone says how babies get fed.

It should be a political bumper sticker. I would vote for that.

        • What if you adopted a baby?

          • Goat milk

      11. Psalm 9:17….read and see we are living it….God has removed His hand of blessing returned with His sword of indignation…

Proverbs 1:7 the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

      12. People have forgotten how to be self reliant in almost every aspect of life. Better figure it out quickly.

      13. There is not a shortage OF baby formula, there is an over abondance of reliance ON baby formula. I know there are a few women who have real and true issues and can not breast feed, but I can almost guarantee that should be a very small percent of the whole lot of them. I can also say that there may be more mom’s who can’t breastfeed or have trouble and give up due to bad advice from stupid doctors and or stupid lactation consultants. Also, there is the issue of to many medicated births, which I personally believe also causes breastfeeding issues. I am not saying that in great need that a birth can’t be medicated, I am saying that situation truly should be the exception rather the norm. The last hospital I gave birth in had a more than 90% medicated birth rate. Giving birth all natural can very much be easy and not full of pain. I have had 4 children all Natural, and I would do it 100 times before anyone gave me drugs. Was there some pain with some of the deliveries? Yes, but it is fleeting and manageable. You just have to be prepared and have support. But, I will say that labor for baby #2 was about 90% pain free. If one is prepared it is possible.

I had a very difficult time breastfeeding baby number 1. But I did not give up, and had great support and by month 4, I was doing great. I nursed all my kids at least a year. After that it was RAW milk for all of them. They are some of the healthiest kids I know. Of the 4 of them only one has ever been to the doctor sick and it was very minor.

I kind of wish I was still nursing, because I would make some money selling breastmilk.
