6 Vital Things To Do BEFORE An Economic Collapse

With signs all over that this “booming economy” may not be as robust as is reported, it may be time to consider the possibility of all-out economic crash.  BEFORE and economic collapse occurs, there are six things that you should do to prepare yourself and your family, giving you the best chance when it all breaks down.

  1. Stockpile Necessities: this one should be a “no brainer” for seasoned preppers. Necessities include, but are not limited to, food, water, water filtration system, personal hygiene items, soaps, medicines, and first aid supplies.  These things will disappear first during any catastrophe and ensuring you are in possession of enough to get you through a few rough months will be comforting.
  2. Keep Some Cash ON HAND: once the economy does collapse, you will probably still have time to use cash. That window will be limited, of course, but it is possible many will still see the value in that paper money, and you could use it to purchase things you might need.
  3. Get A Hold of Some Precious Metals: used as currency from the time humanity constructed a currency system, precious metals will be valuable items to barter with. Consider stocking up on other items that could be of bartering use too, such as ammunition, and liquor. Both of those could be traded for items of necessity if need be.
  4. Keep an Emergency Fund: having a liquid emergency fund could be a great option if you can easily get to the money. Plus, should food prices skyrocket, you will have enough to cover it without dipping into your emergency prepping food at first.
  5. Pay Down Debts: the fewer people you owe money to during good and bad economic times, the better. Even mortgages should be paid down if possible. It’s not the easiest thing to do, but if extra money can be used to pay things down, harassment from lenders won’t be an issue. You won’t be asked to repay the money if you don’t owe any money, and therefore, everything I’ve suggested you save (#2, 3, and 5) could be used for getting those necessities and essential items to help you make it through a financial disaster.
  6. Learn to Grow Your Own Food: this one is tough for people living in colder climates, but food can be grown indoors, and all it takes a few simple internet searches to help you out. If you can grow your own food and you don’t eat it all, it could be another bartering item that you’ve got on hand! I don’t have to tell you how vital generating your own food supply will be in the event of an economic collapse.

These are the six most powerful ways one could prepare for an economic collapse. You should also be able to recognize the signs of a failing economy and be able to see past the surface of rosy propaganda offered by many mainstream media outlets. A quick look deeper at any real statistical data shows that things could get ugly economically, and when that happens, it’ll likely happen quickly leaving those who have chosen to not prepare in advance at a complete loss.

#8 have what you need, know how to use and have the spare magazines ready in terms of firepower to keep what you have – life, first and foremost.

A Garden wont do you any good if you have to bug out and abandon it. Try defending your garden in the city as the savaged pillage everything. You gonna lose your life over a few carrots? You need 2 years of canned food and keep rotating it out. 100# of rice and beans. You can always take it with you in a bug out.

  3. Deboning A Turkey And Making A Roll

This is an excellent video on YouTube

Buy Turkey when it is on sale, usually right before and after the holidays; or go wild turkey hunting.

By deboning before cooking, you can save space in the freezer or refrigerator. Cook before freezing.
Put in freezer paper write turkey roll and the date.

Bone broth can be made and jar canned from the bones. Cook them in the oven along with the turkey roll. Then boil them in water or broth with an added tablespoon of vinegar for approximately 24 hours or 6 hours in a pressure cooker.

    .

    • Invest in a food saver.

Put the turkey rolls in vacuum sealed plastic bags before putting in the freezer. write turkeyroll and the date on the outside.

      Invest in freezer labels.

Honeypot, not trying to be critical; however, please for your sake, don’t bet on a freezer. Dehydrate perhaps? Something, some process you can do with nothing more than heat sans electricity. Should things get bad, many people relying on any form or refrigeration beyond winter up north will end up with a lot of spoiled and wasted food.

I can’t imagine any economic collapse, other than that caused by a war, in America which would result in mass starvation or lack of water, except in cities. We simply have too many resources locally available in the 21st century.
Concentration of populations in large cities is a weak point of our modern societies.
Get out of the city, try to live in your BOL.

It will be MUCH worse than the so called “Great Depression” and they still talk about that one.!

Throw in a toy and a vacation, and this is all stuff that rich people might do.

  8. Sounds like my definition of collapse is different from the author’s. This sounds like a recession or depression. My scenario of collapse means the trucks stop running, the supply chains break, the grid goes down and there is no available fuel.
Precious will be useless in this scenario of no to limited surplus of anything. IOW no one wants to sell you anything for money. If they do, it will be in easily recognizable currency in the short term ($20 bills in #10 cans) and not PMs.
Better have a couple years worth of food for any chance of survival. Even then, there will be sand rail driving, assless chap wearing mutants trying to take yer shit.
After a few years everyone will be dead. No one can survive for much longer when the juice of modern civilization (motor fuel) runs out. You may have a few drums you rotate out now, but in a collapse it will soon be used up. No one, other than some Amish are equipped to survive the collapse of industrial civilization. There are not enough draft animals or ground driven farming implements to go around. Everyone will starve or die of disease or be murdered. Enjoy your life now…it will end in a brutal fashion when things collapse.

Oh well, I’m goin’ out to bring a load of wood into the basement for next winter. Have a wonderful day.

    • Mark Smith says:

I still want to live as long as possible, no matter what the situation. Just because it will eventually be used up doesn’t mean that prepping is pointless. That’s a quitters attitude. Besides, as long as you can enjoy eating humans, you will be able to live quite a long time.

  9. Rex# says:

#5. Don’t pay off debt! You can always kill the debtors. It was done many times in the past. No debtor no debt. 😜
