DARPA Develops Implant With “Terminator” Vision: “Plugs directly into a person’s DNA and visual cortex”

For now, the technology is in “crude” form undergoing R&D through animal testing, specifically with the neural connections of a zebrafish.

In the longer term, DARPA researchers (the Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) believes the gene modifying optical technology will be able to restore vision to the blind and impaired, and replaced current conceptions of virtual reality, with an internal display that will provide vital stats and more about the target, err, object in view.

According to CNET, the DARPA boffins are reportedly working on a device known as a ‘cortical modem’ that plugs directly into a person’s DNA and visual cortex. Not only does this unique device help someone overcome blindness or poor eyesight, it generates a built-in heads-up display (HUD) that appears right in before their very eyes.

The implants create an augmented reality projection that appears like magic in your natural vision and without the need for helmets or special eyeglasses. (source)

The visual overlay could be developed, as in the Schwarzenegger “Terminator” films, like an automatic panel of information that meshes seamlessly with the real world, or it could integrate interactive “Minority Report”-style panels, but internally. Regardless, the implications are fantastic, and perhaps, unsettling.

Though it is hardly the first DARPA foray into brain implants, this technology represents a new breakthrough, as it requires modification to a person’s DNA, an application of optogenetics that bypasses our natural visual sensory system and makes use of what is, for now anyway, a simple $10 devices that produces the LED-like display:

“The implications of this project are astounding,” wrote Peter Rothman of Humanity+ Magazine, who was in attendance at the event. “First, this technology could be used to restore sensory function to individuals who simply can’t be treated with current approaches. Second, the device could replace all virtual reality and augmented reality displays.”

“Bypassing the visual sensory system entirely, a cortical modem can directly display into the visual cortex enabling a sort of virtual overlay on the real world,” he added. “Moreover, the optogenetics approach allows both reading and writing of information. So we can imagine at least a device in which virtual objects appear well integrated into our perceived world.” (source)

Researchers believe that, though still far from completion, this would make science fiction tech possible, even opening the door to telekinesis and telepathy:

The possibilities go even further, though, Rothman said. The cortical modem could potentially make electronic telepathy and telekinesis possible, and could make the neural interfaces made popular by science fiction writer’s a reality. Those advances are still a long way off, however, as the cortical modem in its current form is still, in Rothman’s words, a “crude” device.

While it might be billed as an incredible cure for blindness, the implications for the military battlefield are immense.

As many dystopic films and futurists like Ray Kurzweil have long predicted, these neural implants, modifications and “upgrades” are ripe for the making of super-soldiers, capable of making human warriors more-human-than-human and capable of given autonomous robots and AI computers a lopsided advantage against conventional enemies in any conflict.

Before you daydream about the “cool” visions of the future to be, keep in mind that the computer geeks have once again warned that the rise of AI and nanotechnology literally threatens the survival of civilization. A Global Challenges Foundation report was concerned about the extinction of the human race and a coming mass unemployment of the human workforce:

“Such extreme intelligences could not easily be controlled (either by the groups creating them, or by some international regulatory regime), and would probably act to boost their own intelligence and acquire maximal resources for almost all initial AI motivations,” suggest authors Dennis Pamlin and Stuart Armstrong.

“And if these motivations do not detail the survival and value of humanity, the intelligence will be driven to construct a world without humans. This makes extremely intelligent AIs a unique risk, in that extinction is more likely than lesser impacts.”

The report also warns of the risk that “economic collapse may follow from mass unemployment as humans are replaced by copyable human capital”, and expresses concern at the prospect of AI being used for warfare: “An AI arms race could result in AIs being constructed with pernicious goals or lack of safety precautions.”

So what is closer on the horizon: the end of life as we know it, or the next big thing?

Will happen sooner than A.I. robots.

I’m a Senior Systems Engineer and Network Engineer and I was having a discussion with a Senior Application Architect about this stuff. His premis was AI/Robots will behave like we program them. I countered with, If they have the capability to learn, then in essence they program them selves at a certain point. What if they decide like with Skynet, that we aren’t worth keeping around? He said good point. Problem is, even though I know how this stuff can be used for evil, I still love this stuff, because I’m a GEEK! BTW I’m not doing anything to hasten the development of this kind of thing, but the thrill of doing it is a slippery slope of temptation for me. Unfortunately there are many Geeks, who have no problems with this type of R&D.

Sierra Dave is correct IMO, having an Avatar will be easier and more widespread. Just to think, if I was driving a Terminator type Battle Bot in Iraq, I would have been through the door first and had humans behind me. I would get shot first, but I would be able to decide shoot or no shoot. It would save Allied Soldiers lives.

The Deep State probably has been able to kill switch the internet for as long as there has been an internet. Imagine the potential for millions of individuals whose eyesight is failing. “Do you want the vision you had in your youth? Have we got something for you.” Yes, they do. Upon command from miles away, instant cerebral hemorrhage.

Several years ago I knew someone who was in the final stages of earning a Neuroscience Ph.D. I used to tease that person that their most likely employer would be the tyrant. For nefarious purposes.

Who pays for most research in the US? The tyrant. One guess who decides how those shiny new things are used. It won’t be to advance liberty and peace.

ISIS authorized to call in US airstrikes in Syria:

The Obama administration is preparing to equip the so-called “moderate” Syrian rebels with the ability to order U.S. air strikes despite the group’s admitted allegiance to the Islamic State.
Members of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) will be provided with radios to call in strikes from American B-1B bombers as well as pickup trucks with mounted machine guns as the president puts the final touches on plans to train as many as 3,000 rebels in Jordan and Turkey by the end of 2015.

“Negotiations have been concluded and an agreement text will be signed with the US regarding the training of the Free Syrian Army in the coming period,” said Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tanju Bilgic.

The planes will reportedly use similar munitions to those seen in Afghanistan, targeting anything from small vehicles to tanks with 500 and 2,000-pound guided bombs.

This is getting spooky as this is the 3rd time I thought to post something and you already did it.

Well my thought on this does vary a bit from yours in this respect. As 1984 is becoming the de-facto templet for society the Star Trek BORG, “Resistance is futile you will be assimilated”.

Does life imitate art or does art imitate life? As my Italian Grandfather would say while pointing to his head, “they getta ideas”, it seems like TPTB see what is possible in the future and say, “Great idea, as soon as the technology is available lets do it”.

Why don’t they just focus on something great like curing cancer.

ANY one needing any M855 5.56 Green tip they have it at http://www.SGAMMO both foriegn and domestic and the prices are good and they do not rape you on shipping

    • Mountain Trekker says:

God Soldier, SGAmmo is a good place to deal with, they may not rape you on the shipping, but make no mistake the rape has already started on the price of M855 Green Tip. SGA is the only supplier that I have seen that now has any for sale. At $520 for 1000rds. of Lithuanian when you could buy 1200 rds. of Lake City for $348 when in stock, sorta kinda feels like rape. But Thanks For The Tip. In the long run that may be cheap. Trekker Out.

      • PO'd Patriot says:

Sportsman Guide has the green tip if you want to pay 40+ cents a round. No thank you very much. I don’t see all the hoopla over that particular round as far as performance. Terminal performance sucks on the green tip and it is only a light barrier blind round. Good for penetrating windshields at check points is all. If you want to piss the government off cause they’re thinking of banning the green tip, spent your money on a better round. Don’t be herded into the meme purchase.

As it was in the beginning of the spread of mankind, so it will be in the end.

The main goal behind all this “super” human development is the demonic drive for men to become like God by their own authority. It won’t work as it didn’t work before, and in God’s timing he will shut it down.

1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.

4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

6 And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.

8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. (Genesis 11:1-9)

        WTF!

        • swinging richard says:

Agreed Kula. The green tips are not really armor piercing rounds. I fear that this is a move by the gun grabbers to get their foot in the door to begin a ban on AR ammo. Start with one type of ammo as a test and move on from there. Seen any Black Talon ammo lately?

the medieval mind in the 21st century

    • Tony Montana says:

      Satori –

That indeed is sad, but something is worse than that.

If you had the opportunity to ask one question, a random poll from 500 people – from each of the 50 States.

Question: “how many buildings fell on September 11, 2001?”

Would it be any surprise that an overwhelming majority of 95% said only 2 and not 3?

Unfortunately, this is what we as a country are facing. Almost a 100% of dumb downed Americans, and it’s these kinds of people that each and everyone of us needs to be aware of, and avoid when any sort of SHTF scenario takes place. These innocent types of people can become dangerous, deadly types in a panic.

But hey, as long as the beer keeps flowing, and reality T.V. / Sports is still on the Propaganda Box – all is hunky dory.

None of us can avoid these “self inflicted denial” kinds of people. They are some of our co-workers, they are some of friends, and even some of our own family members. As much as I would like to wake these people up from their denial mode, as Ron White would say – “you can’t fix stupid”

And when the time comes for the downfall of this country, these people will be clueless to who is solely responsible for it.

    • John_Allen says:

There are snake handling preachers in the US. Most American adults know less science and higher math than teenagers in about 50 nations around the world do. Are we to be judged by the most ignorant and delusional among us?

Neither Iraqi nor Saudi oil is worth shedding one more drop of American blood to defend. I don’t give a rat’s ass which brand of Islamic has dominion over which acreage there. It’s none of our business. Why do you care?

“But if (fill in bogeyman here) controlled that area, what would we do for oil?”

Are the owners of that oil going to eat it? Having oil does their ruling elites no good unless they sell it. They will continue to sell it to the highest bidder. We’ll get our share.

I know what let’s do. Let’s define anyone over there who opposes us invading and dominating their acreage as “other.” As “insurgent” or “terrorist.” Gives a propaganda imprimatur that cues our population to cheer when our war machine murders more peasants.

It’s about time we stopped murdering peasants to get our hands on natural resources that we’d have access to anyway.

“But those nasty blokes did this and that … they’re the scum of the earth.” This nation murdered several hundred thousand Japanese AFTER the Japanese had stated their readiness to surrender.

But people we neither understand nor like murder a few dozen “innocents.” The US murdered HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT JAPANESE FOR NO MILITARY NECESSITY.

We do not have the moral high ground. The world hates us for our arrogant thuggery. It’s wholesale coercion and theft here. It’s wholesale murder abroad. But what does our stateside propaganda say? We’re heroes saving the world and people envy us.

Isn’t it about time y’all stop being tyrant suck ups and object to what is being done in your name? At least tell the corporate fascists you won’t be their cannon fodder. They can go die for their own lies.

Posted this before, just seems to be a lot of new posters here, some may not have seen this yet…

The kids filed into class Monday morning. They were all very excited. Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on salesmanship.

Little Sally led off. “I sold Girl Scout cookies and I made $30” she said proudly, “My sales approach was to appeal to the customer’s civil spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success.”

    “Very good”, said the teacher.

Little Debbie was next. “I sold magazines” she said, “I made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current events.” “Very good, Debbie”, said the teacher.

Eventually, it was Little Johnny’s turn. The teacher held her breath.

Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of cash on the teacher’s desk. “$2,467”, he said.

“$2,467!” cried the teacher, “What in the world were you selling?”

Toothbrushes”, said Little Johnny. “Toothbrushes”, echoed the teacher, “How could you possibly sell enough tooth brushes to make that much money?”

“I found the busiest corner in town”, said Little Johnny, “I set up a Dip &Chip stand and I gave everybody who walked by a free sample.”

They all said the same thing, “Hey, this tastes like dog poop!” Then I would say, “It is dog poop. Wanna buy a toothbrush? I used the President Obama method of giving you some crap, dressing it up so it looks good, telling you it’s free and then making you pay to get the bad taste out of your mouth.”

Little Johnny got five stars for his assignment. Bless his heart.

I saw on tv a while back somebody was developing this suit that you stand inside it’s like a terminator robot. The thing moves with you movements and it makes you super strong they demonstrated it’s strength you can lift like 500lbs with one arm. The military is all over this I would bet. If I could I would get one not kidding with this thing you could literally crush anyone who gets in your way now picture an army with these on. Total game changer put armor on it use it to carry heavy loads and other tasks like digging bunkers. Breach barricaded heavy doors with one kick. The biggest problem with all this technology is it costs big$. Think about it to have every soldier in one of these at like $50000 a suit. You could put a whole new class of subs to sea. It’s just a matter of the best choice. Just think about the unfair advantage you would have on the battle field. Fuckin scare the shit out of your enemy’s. They will run away and who could blame them. Look at the psychological advantage the terrorists have they look scary and cut heads off. What do we have a bunch of marines smiling and laughing. Our guys are not scary looking IMHO. The enemy needs to fear the us troops. Screw going into villages looking to make friends. These people are not your friends. When you walk away they are working with the enemy. Our military strategy is wrong kill these people and let god sort them out. We been through this before with Vietnam the guy that shaved your face was shooting at you later that night. Our troops are being used as humanitarians. They are fighting forces this is the job they do well. I would never join the military only because I don’t believe in the humanitarian agenda they got the guys doing. Having the marines handing out care packages and lollipops to kids are you kidding me in a hostile area. No other country’s army does this. We look like morons they gotta get their heads checked in Washington.

    • Sharon says:

Back in the days of yore when the Knights in Armor were the rulers of the day because they were invulnerable to simple arrows and spears and swords the infantry and irregular troops used, a way was found to fight them.

Cavalry charges, the armored warriors on horseback, were devastating to the enemy ranks of infantry and archers since they could simply rampage through them unharmed wreaking devastation and destruction as the did.

Then came the idea of the pike, a long spear that was intended to be used not against the armored cavalry themselves -although it was effective to do so to an extent- but against the horses they rode where simple wounding of one would drop the armored rider to the ground.

That armor was so heavy (designed to withstand long bow fire and spears on horseback, not to be running around on the ground) that the armored rider was almost helpless as he lay on the ground unable to remove it, surrounded by enemy infantry men who would then gang up on him two at a time and force him onto his side with one raising his arm and the other thrusting a sword or spear through his unarmored armpit and into his heart.

This was the beginning of the end for those armored Knights as a battle force, and the pike remained effective as a defense against cavalry charges for quite some time (you may have noticed those very long bayonets on early muskets, they were designed to be used as pikes against charging cavalry after they had been fired if the enemy was upon them before there was time to reload).

The point is, it’s not the weapons you fight with but how you fight, no weapon can be divised that cannot be defeated in battle by simple innovation and will to fight of opposing forces.

Wonder how those fancy and expensive exoskeleton wearing troops would deal with something as simple as a scorpion bomb? (a tactic and weapon that originated several thousand years ago in the part of the world we are now fighting in, FWIW)

The nazis looked like scary sick dudes nobody else’s army at this time looked this powerful. Our troops need a stronger look. They need to look like the death squad.

  26. the Lone Ranger says:

There is already invented and patented an RFID chip that disables your free will and makes you hear voices. It IS the mark of the beast. I’m sure this terminator vision is an extension of it. I don’t doubt it exists.

The September Naval Yard shooter was chipped (as have been other shooters). Remember, they put these on pharmaceuticals to cover up that they are chipped.

The ACA (obamacare) requires every American by 10/1/16 to have implanted in them “a Class 2 Implantable Medical Device”. (Ostensibly to hold your medical records, but it is a weapon designed to control, disable, and kill.)

Those who take the chip end up in hell because it is a rejection of God’s supreme gift given to all women and men, that of free will.

Do not take the mark/chip under any circumstances.

Ranger, while obummer care doing great harm to this country and medical care in general while rewarding pharm/insurance industries please show me some links that have info saying this is law and passed,a requirement to be chipped by said date.A quick look for me came up empty, but willing to keep a open mind.

      • Sharon says:

You won’t need to kill anyone trying to force it on you.

It will be a voluntary thing, those who don’t volunteer will simply not be able to conduct any financial transactions since the chip will be needed -you won’t be able to buy or sell anything, even your labor, or access the banking and financial systems- and it will be needed to travel or get access to basic utilities for your home (gas, water, electricity) or medical care and on and on.

Those willing to disappear into the wilderness and live the life of a hermit won’t have a problem with this, but almost everyone else will and they will voluntarily accept the chip.

        • Warchild Dammit! says:

Sharon,or,instead of hiding people in large masses resist/fight back/hack the chip system ect.,not just two options here.I do also see a whole new growth in underground economy as seeing already, alternitive currency will be on the rise along with straight out bartering, not bad is prepping in a way for newer economies.

    • Warchild Dammit! says:

Ranger, though I have different spiritual beliefs/thoughts outside of more mainstream religion do believe if around god would give a pass on the chip thing if done with gun pointed at head/small babies and children can’t that fight back ect.I am wrong about that then not a god worth wasting any time over, god doesn’t like the whole chip thing then do something about it,not sit on sidelines or go out for a round of golf what have you.

So glad we got Big Brother/AI on our side.

Maybe Terminator will kill all the terrorists that want to kill is for our freedoms…….

……and maybe WTC 7 just magically blew up on 9/11!

I am sure TPTB have very, very, very sinister reasons for all of this technology.

Today in Torrance, Calisheeple… A very large oil refinery was completely destroyed…but oddly enough no deaths have been reported. The NWO is pulling every disaster trick in the book to distract from their agenda. The subsequent result will be a rise in gasoline prices here and anywhere serviced by this refinery.
Since oil prices are falling…the NWO cannot allow cheap fuel to naturally result from that fact…so what do they do…BLOW UP A REFINERY!

    POLL QUESTION

    Thumbs up = yes
    Thumbs down = no

    QUESTION

With the ILWU strike looming as a result of a lock-out coupled with this False Flag destruction of the refinery..Is the pedal now pushed to the floor?

This technology like all other advances will be both good and bad. The internet for example is great and horrible. Depends on how it is used. I am amazed at how fast technology is advancing. One other scary thing is knowing that the government is about 10 years ahead of what most of us know.

All I can say is ” I’ll be back “

Hal, put that down Hal. Depopulationism and robots, oh how they mesh. You have realized who the final target in the war against carbon is. You have, right? You have to ask why doesn’t a magnetic pulse affect humans? The Earth may be divested of its infestation of carbon entities but the Earth will never be digital. Our Sun sees to that. Time is not on the side of digital things or all things of man for that matter. Especially when intelligence is artificial. The ultimate oxymoron in a time of morons. Present company excepted.

Hal Grandpa?!You just dated yourself!Of course, recognising the line I guess Warchild also dated himself!

    • GrandpaSpeaks says:

It matters not. We dismiss the value of archives as entertainment anyway. There has always been a roar of warnings preceding the eventual history that develops and for what purpose? Are the warnings helping now when we need them most? When conspiracy theories eventually turn into conspiracy no one notices. When the wisdom of warnings is suppressed it destroys your rudder and you arrive at the present. That would be the lest part of “Lest we forget”. At this time, Nanny doesn’t like lest. You will forget. I never said this.

Impants? We don’t need no stinkin’ implants! We can see with amazing clarity with our own eyes what is happening.

    Dang…I meant implants.

  38. This comment is late in the thread, and probably won’t be read by many, so I’m going to present my own theory on The Singularity:

Automobiles did not exist in 1800. They were first invented in (let’s just say 1900). Therefore, although people in 1800 didn’t KNOW about automobiles, the DID exist in 1800, they simply hadn’t been ‘discovered’ or invented, yet. Let’s take this analogy a little further: today, 2015, we don’t ‘KNOW’ about quantum computers, but it’s probably a safe bet that they exist in our ‘future’. If, therefore, Quantum Computers ‘exist’ in (let’s just say 2100), then they ‘exist’ today, we just haven’t ‘discovered’ them yet. If they exist today, would it be safe to say that a very large (by our standards, anyway) QC is RIGHT NOW GENERATING OUR EXISTENCE in the form of a holographic computer simulation? The article states that these computers may ‘question the value of humanity’ and ‘go on to construct a world without humans’. What if this VERY THING has ALREADY HAPPENED? What if a computer is currently providing your ‘virtual reality’ and you believe that you are ‘alive’. Physics show the universe to be ‘holographic’. All material things are made of the same atomic particles, fish, men, trees, etc. All ‘live’ things are run by a computer program (DNA). Everything in the known universe can be reduced to a binary code, either 1 or 0.

Conclusion: We ARE LIVING IN A COMPUTER SIMULATION!
