Yellowstone ALERT: 200 Earthquakes In 10 Days As Ring Of Fire Awakens

Scientists in Yellowstone have detected over 200 earthquakes at the supervolcano in the last 10 days. With reports coming in that the Ring of Fire could be awakening as well, many are preparing for the worst.

Although scientists are still telling the public there’s no need to be alarmed, reports of immense pressure in the magma chamber under Yellowstone, coupled with this new report claiming 200 earthquakes have been recorded in the last ten days are reigniting fears of a potential supervolcano eruption. According to The Daily Mail, this latest earthquake swarm began on February 8.

Experts with the US Geological Survey say that this latest swarm began in a region roughly eight miles northeast of West Yellowstone, Montana and, it’s increased dramatically in the days since. While the earthquakes are likely caused by a combination of processes beneath the surface, the current activity is said to be “relatively weak,” and the alert level at the supervolcano remains at “normal.” The USGS says the new swarm is occurring in about the same location as the Maple Creek swarm last summer, which brought roughly 2,400 earthquakes in a four-month span.

Experts also say there are likely many more earthquakes in the Yellowstone region that have gone undetected.  “The present swarm started on February 8, with a few events occurring per day,” according to USGS. “On February 15, seismicity rates and magnitudes increased markedly. As of the night of February 18, the largest earthquake in the swarm is M2.9, and none of the events have been felt. All are occurring about 8 km (5 mi) beneath the surface.”

“Swarms reflect changes in stress along small faults beneath the surface, and generally are caused by two processes: large-scale tectonic forces, and pressure changes beneath the surface due to accumulation and/or withdrawal of fluids (magma, water, and/or gas),” USGS explains. “The area of the current swarm is subject to both processes.”

“While it may seem worrisome, the current seismicity is relatively weak and actually represents an opportunity to learn more about Yellowstone,” USGS says. “It is during periods of change when scientists can develop, test, and refine their models of how the Yellowstone volcanic system works.” However, the experts did lace a warning into their statement. “The earthquakes, too, serve as a reminder of an underappreciated hazard at Yellowstone – that of strong earthquakes, which are the most likely event to cause damage in the region on the timescales of human lives.”

    2. Watching and Waiting says:

Nothing we can do but pray it doesn’t.
However, those of us on the east coast already have our concerns.
And besides and I am just saying, doesn’t it depend on which way the wind currents(jet stream) are flowing at the time, if it does blow? On how much the rest of the country, eastward is effected?

      • Wilson says:

This is fear porn, sensationalism, and ad click bait, 200 in 10 days is nothing. Look back to shtfPlan October 6, 2017, and you will read:

“Over the past three and a half months, almost 2,500 earthquakes have been recorded in the western part of the national park. This is on par with the biggest swarm ever recorded, where more than 3,000 earthquakes took place over three months, Newsweek reports.” Now those tow numbers are worth considering, but 200 in 19 days is nothing. All of the readings in this swarm had readings under 2.9. Do a search using Yellowstone swarm if you really want to spend your time on this subject.

    3. Heartless says:

Okay, I’ll ask 2 questions. 1. what the heck can anyone do to stop it from happening?; 2. if it should happen, what really could anyone do in the fallout zones do to save themselves? Answers to both – little to nothing.

Yellowstone isn’t going to erupt, we put in the geysers to let off the pressure last time it went off.

They’re a proven solution since it hasn’t erupted again since then.

        • Bert says:

People worry about this and the dozens of other improbable things mentioned at this website, yet for the things that will get ya that can be changed, the readers do little to nothing to prevent the top ten causes of death in America [or your nation]. A greater concern and urgency should be direct to the top 10 killers. Maybe this website could change its reason for being and concentrate on something that matters.

          • Ketchupondemand says:

Bert, I think this site HAS changed it’s reason for being.
I’m not sure what that is nowadays…

            • rellik says:

              Ketch,
I think a lot of guys banned on other sites come here.
Mac lets a lot of stuff get published, that many
              other sites approve of.

Every once in a while you get a “jewel”.
Someone mentioned the virtues of electric chainsaws.
              Someone might
find that useful. I have several gas chainsaws, One I keep
clean and dry(no bar oil) to cut up large animals, in order to
carry them out, someone might find that useful information.

Yes this site has changed, but for the better, I think.

      • Paranoid says:

Nope, here in Casper we have a secret plan to turn on the wind mills and blow all the ash up into Canada; (Don’t tell anyone)

      • Wilson says:

        Heartless,
There is actually a proposal by NASA to drill deep and let the heat and pressure dissipate. do a search on the website using Yellowstone swarm and you’ll see the article.

      • TallMan says:

If you notice this story was written by the Daily Mail. They run this same story every few months as click bait for their web site. I wouldn’t worry to much about it blowing, chances of it happening in our life time is extremely remote.

    4. Grunty McPhereson says:

I live in the NE USA, so I’d be likely to avoid the worst of a Ring-Of-Fire volcanic event. However, if this goes global, then I can kiss goodbye the idea of growing my own food for a couple of years (likely volcanic winter). Even tho I have a good year’s worth of food stashed, me & mine prolly couldn’t stretch it that long to begin growing again.

Gotta get right with the Lord in that case. Who wants to live forever? 😀

    5. Sean says:

Swarm rate PER DAY is the same as last year, 20. Still a lot. How’s about an explanation as to how many per day AVERAGE in the last 5-10 years? They know the land is “bulging” at Yellowstone, and the depth of these small tremors is consistent. Prep, and stay frosty.

    6. Some events are almost impossible to survive. An all-out eruption at Yellowstone and major eruptions along the pacific ring would mean death to even the best prepared family. If it isn’t as bad as it could be, the events would trigger a cascade of ugly events. Low probability of survival.

    7. Sgt. Dale says:

If it want to blow its top it will blow its top, and there is nothing you can do about it.
      Sgt.

    8. Fritz says:

Gee whiz Mac! Always so cheerful. If Yellowstone blows its cork wiping out a twelve state area and burying the rest of the country in ash and it precipitates global cooling so that crops won’t grow anywhere in the world for a hundred years, well, there’s not a lot of prepping that’s going to matter. Same thing for the Pacific rim of fire. If it all cracks open and the Earth poops out a new moon or something, we’re all pretty much screwed anyway. Can’t worry about stuff like this. We all cling precariously to the thin fragile crust of a giant ball of molten rock and iron as it whizzes through outer space at a million miles per hour. If it happens, see you all on the other side. On the other hand though, we got all these new world order commie control freaks running the show and ruining our lives, hordes of starving invaders trying to break down the gates, and a country full of crazy people wanting to let them in and take away our means of self-defense at the same time. Those are things to really worry about. Sorry, thanks, I feel better now.

      • Ketchupondemand says:

Fritz, that’s one of the best, briefest and funnest things I’ve read here in some time. Well put.

BTW, nice to be back amongst you. I’ve been unable to post for a few days now and I don’t know if it’s my internet connection (works fine on other sites though) or the site owner is blocking me or what..

        • Fritz says:

Well, thanks Ketchup. I don’t usually get fired up like that. Mostly I lurk and listen. Glad you’re back too. I hate it when that happens. By the way, if you don’t mind me asking, why did your parents give you that name?

          • Ketchupondemand says:

It’s a cynical take on all those ads on TV for “catch up on demand”…
But I couldn’t keep up with my parents when we went hiking and it just stuck as a nickname.

What this really means is that there will be no closed seasons for fishing, and no limits.

    11. YELLOWSTONE COMING TO LIFE IS VERY LIKELY THE RESULT OF PLANET X, AKA NIBIRU, HAVING ENTERED OUR SOLAR SYSTEM IN 1983 & IS CURRENTLY MOVING CLOCKWISE AROUND THE SUN WHILE EARTH IS MOVING COUNTER CLOCKWISE. WHEN THEY PASS-BY EACH OTHER NIBIRU’S SIZE AND MASS WILL VERY LIKELY CAUSE OUR PLANET GREAT HARM. SEARCH THE SUBJECT MATTER AND SEE FOR YOURSELVES. GOOGLE IT AND SEE ALL THE PHOTOS POSTED ON THE NET. MAY GOD BLESS US ALL.

Has anyone heard of H.A.A.R.P. it may well have something to do with it.
