Would President John McCain Have Been Any Different?

There is a public outcry against our democrat-led Congress and President Obama, who rubber stamps anything that gets sent his way.

But would things be any different if President McCain was in the White House?

We remind our readers that, although John McCain is a Republican and self-promoted Maverick, he was a staunch supporter of the bailouts and stimulus that made their way through Congress immediately preceding the 2008 Presidential election. So in that regard, John McCain would likely have taken the same path as President Obama has in terms of supporting failing institutions like our major banks, GM, Chrysler, AIG, Fannie and Freddie.

Regardless of who was President, our national debt would have skyrocketed as a result of these policies, as government would have had to find a way to fund these mega-behemoth bailouts. Thus, the Treasury department would still be issuing hundreds of billions in debt regularly.

Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke was appointed under President Bush, and would likely have kept his post under a McCain presidency. Therefore, the likelihood that our Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing and near zero interest rate lending to major banks would have been any different, is nill.

Perhaps the only thing we may have avoided is ObamaCare in its current form, though it is likely that President McCain would have at least taken steps to “reform” our health care system by implementing similar policies of government mandates through the seizure of private wealth.

But what about personal liberty and upholding Constitutional principles?

As a republican, would President McCain have taken steps to secure individual freedom, due process, the right to free speech and other protections outlined in the U.S. Constitution.

If bill S.3081 is used as a guide, then the answer is a resounding no.

S. 3081, also known as the Enemy Belligerent Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010, currently sits in committee in the first phase of the legislative process. It was introduced by Senator McCain and several cosponsors on March 4, 2010.

If enacted, the bill would essentially allow the government to bypass the U.S. Constitution’s 5th amendment and due process, which states that an individual cannot “be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.”

S.3081 allows for the indefinite detention and imprisonment of enemies of the state, including American citizens, if they are suspected of being terrorists, harboring terrorists or providing material support for terrorist organizations and/or activities. The bill also allows the President to establish “Interrogation Groups” which will be responsible for questioning and using whatever means available within interrogation law to extract information from detainees.

The policies set forth by the bill would be carried out by the U.S. military.

Most alarming are the sections outlining indefinite detentions without trial:

SEC. 5. DETENTION WITHOUT TRIAL OF UNPRIVILEGED ENEMY BELLIGERENTS.

An individual, including a citizen of the United States, determined to be an unprivileged enemy belligerent under section 3(c)(2) in a manner which satisfies Article 5 of the Geneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War may be detained without criminal charges and without trial for the duration of hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners in which the individual has engaged, or which the individual has purposely and materially supported, consistent with the law of war and any authorization for the use of military force provided by Congress pertaining to such hostilities.

The proposed bill, would define “terrorism” under the Homeland Security Act of 2002, which states, in part:

(16) The term “terrorism” means any activity that—

(A)involves an act that—

(i)is dangerous to human life or potentially destructive of critical infrastructure or key resources; and

(ii)is a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State or other subdivision of the United States; and

As reported by Infowars, the definitions of terrorism are now being expanded to include a variety of suspicious activities and behaviors.

The Department of Homeland Security has designated returning veterans, Second Amendment activists, and members of state militias as “rightwing extremists” who are to be considered potential terrorists. The Missouri Information Analysis Center, under the direction of the DHS, expanded the list of possible terrorists to include supporters of Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin.

The introduction of a new project by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, an office of the U.S. Department of Justice, now further expands what are deemed suspicious activities and is actively requesting the assistance of local law enforcement and American citizens in reporting such activities to DHS and DOJ.

In You Might Be a Terrorist If You…, The Daily Sheeple provides additional information from the original Infowars report:

According to the DOJ, you might be a terrorist if…

…you are taking pictures, videos or drawing diagrams of the mall, considered to be surveilling a mall.

…you are distributing “extremist” literature at the mall or are posting extremist literature on public bulletin boards at local malls or shopping venues.

…If you purchase large quantities of paintball equipment and supplies.

…you are purchasing large quantities of ammunition at a large retail store.

…you purchase firearms or ammunition out of season at a large retail store.

…you arrive with too much luggage at a hotel or motel.

…you purchase an unusual combination of products like sponges, candles, matches, bolt cutters, etc.

…you use cash to pay for transactions.

…you purchase night vision equipment and camouflage apparel

As the definitions for terrorism, suspicious activity and activity-of-interest expand, so too will the amount of domestic terrorists.

From the list above, one could come to the conclusion that any individual preparing themselves for the possibility of economic and/or social collapse through the purchase of firearms, large amounts of food, home security, or preparedness gear like candles, and using cash to pay for those transactions, could be considered suspicious under the new legislation.

Likewise, as pointed out by Kurt Nimmo of Infowars, an individual protesting the actions of government who puts up a poster of the Obama Joker, Tea Party literature or even a poster supporting Infowars or other non-establishment movements, could be considered suspicious.

If Senator McCain’s bill were to be passed into law, any such activity could then lead to detainment and facing interrogation squads with questioning as to the nature of your behavior.

Without due process, no trial would need to be held and an individual would be considered guilty from the onset.

So, for those that believe President McCain, or any other establishment republican has their personal liberties in mind, think again.

The politicians are corrupt from both sides of the two-headed snake and your right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is summarily ignored.

McLame would have been no different, but there is also no chance he would have been elected, which is why he was put in that position…the least attractive alternative.

  2. Sketch says:

sadly – people still believe there is a difference between the parties.

  3. Tom says:

I always vote.  One day it will be a write in for Mickey Mouse.

  4. the real president of the united states is the rothschild banking system.

  5. Tony says:

I dont think McCain would have let Iran get the nuclear technology needed to make the bomb. I also think McCain would not have dropped the charges against those who bombed the USS Cole, and I dont think McCain would have dropped the charges against the new black panther party and their voter intimidation, which they were found guilty of.

Economically McCain would have been a little more conservative on the new spending, and He wouldnt have forced a HORRIBLE healthcare bill down our throats which will cause more damage than harm in the long run.

Plus I think McCain would have kept the military the same size or even increased it, but not decrease it like Obama has been doing.

  6. Tony says:

I also dont think McCain would have sued Arizona, and he would have actually did something with the border!!

  7. Bush Sr, Clinton,Gore,  Bush Jr, Cheney, McCain, Obama… they are all progressives and working toward a one world government so the end result would be the same, a communist world.  McCain may have moved us more slowly and been a leader rather than a follower like Obama but we will not see that southern border protedted unless militia do it.  The banker elite made sure they had a man on both sides so it didn’t matter who won, the results would still be the same.  They have all sold out! Literally sold themselves and this nation for 40 pieces of gold.  At this point the best defense besides trying to get decent  patriotic people into office is to pray and fast. Nations have overcome crazy odds with prayer and fasting and so can we. This IS a battle for our lives and freedoms. So if you believe in God : pray and fast like your life and those of your loved ones depends on it. They do! If we don’t secure that border the drug lords will bring their killing into the entire nation. And the feds will not do a thing to stop them.

  8. Politicians who create and uphold laws that tear apart the Constitution  should be the first to experience the full force of those laws. They are true terrorists against this nation and the people when they enact laws such as the Patriot Act and  S3081. Let them face “indefinite detention” for acts against this nation and it’s Constitution.

  9. Tom says:

He ran on imposing taxes on health care benefits & he had plenty of chances to do something with his home town border but also believe what Tony brought up that he would not have sued AZ.  He brought in a lightning rod for a VP candidate that had a better resume’ than #1 while rushing back to the white house to help decide many things with President & elect.  He is an american war hero that I would never deny but believe he culminated before the vote.  Put the “white house” on the AZ border & see how many windows would be ventilated.  Two terms for politicians.  The first 4 making tuff choices (if they desire). QE2 is on it’s way.  Bring the troops home & let the navy keep the ocean free.

  10. wooba says:

I concur Andy. A little research shows that all but 2 of your presidents over the last 100 years were from elite white monied families. The 2 exceptions were Hoover, a public servant, the son of a blacksmith, and Obama, a BLACK, the son of a goat herder.

Hoover was dropped into the job about 6 months before the markets collapsed and was the fall guy for te first depression. Obama is likewise the bunny people will pin this collapse on. Should create some nice racial tensions in the years to come lol.

I could have researched further back but what’s the point? It’s not what ‘they’ do that effects our life, it’s what we do.

As an interesting comparison, here in Australia a labor party Prime minister was elected by landslide on the eve of the 1929 collapse, the Liberal (elite) incumbent losing his seat as well as the election. The identical procedure was engineered a few years ago with the Liberal PM Howard losing the election, and his seat, in a landslide election giving the Labor party power.

I told a friend ( an aussie obsessed with US politics) here that I as sure Obama was going to be your next president, 3 months before the election. It was nice to see a pet theory play out.

  12. Mac! Good read. Good comments, all.
    On being a terrorist…

…you are purchasing large quantities of ammunition at a large retail store.
The key here is many small purchases in cash. 100 rnds here, 500 rnds there. Mostly 9mm, 22lr and 223. I’ve built up a huge ammo stock by steady $100 every pay purchases. No worries here.
…you purchase firearms or ammunition out of season at a large retail store.
I’ve purchased 20 guns in the last 2 years. Fortunately I live on one of *THOSE* states. No paper trail. Well, unless you consider the fingerprints on the FRNs during the private sale.

…you use cash to pay for transactions.
I think this is incorrect. It should be …you use cash to pay for large (more than $1000) transactions. *AND* you take it out of the bank right before the purchase. My trick: Don’t put it *IN* the bank in the first place. Nobody bats an eye at 3, 4, or even 900 dollar purchases with cash. Plop down $2,000 and they start wondering. 5 years ago I bought a Ford SUV with 63 $100 FRNs. The guy was fine with it.
I think we are over reacting a bit. Maybe they really are *JUST* looking for the terrorists. When you think about it, the terrorists could “hide” by acting as a patriot and purchasing some of this stuff. However, I think we don’t have to worry about it. I think its all “puffery”. What we do have to worry about is feeding ourselves and protecting ourselves.
Every house needs at least these items to protect whatever else you have gathered.
    1 12 gauge shotgun. (100 rnds of #6 and 50 rnds of 00 buck)
    1 380/9mm/40S&W/45ACP/45Colt/357mag/44mag/22lr pistol. (500 rnds of ammo)
    1 22lr break/bolt/auto rifle /w scope. (1000 rnds of hollow point ammo)
This combination will do almost ANYTHING. It does a few things well, but its kind of like WD40. Its not great at anything but its good at a whole lot and it will work for ANYTHING if you have the skill.
Get these then get trained how to use them. If you’ve got a redneck friend that will show you, use him. You may not get the finer details but it might only cost you a six pack or two. …and he’ll also help you out in a pinch. Buy it. Learn to use it. Your life will depend on it.

  13. Dave says:

Yes,  McCain would have been different, he’s a total sychophant of the Israeli’s and anything that those foreigners (and their agents situated in our congress) would want him to do would be done instantly, including sacrficing even more of our kids in senseless wars  for Israel’s security and billions more in aid as well.
We need leaders that will put America first, all others last.
George Washington put it very succinctly when warning us about foreign policy; “Entangling alliances with none”

  14. Dennis says:

Mac…One of the best you’ve ever written.  Been waiting for someone to say everything you just did.  McCain changes colors like a cameleon…adopting whatever stance is in his best interests for the short term benefit of staying in office.  In other words he’s a politician……not a people’s representative.  He’s been in DC about as long as anyone, living apart from his wife for years.  Wouldn’t have his life if you offered it.
He’s also willing to sacrifice whatever is left to keep his armies tramping the world over.  Yes, I know he was a prisoner of war and a hero back when but where did he supposedly get his general qualities?  He was a navy pilot that flew over N. Vietnam and blew us people and water buffalo by the hundreds.  The only time he saw the mud of Vietnam was when he landed in the drink.  Point is, our days of policeing the world and spending our GDP on a big military is in it’s last days.  He and a couple dozen others back there just don’t see it, yet.  JMO

  15. eugend66 says:

Comments….. Not a word about that bimbo named S. Palin
    scaring away republican voters.

  16. John McCain would have supported the bailouts just like Obama. Although the gridlock would have prevented him from creating the same type of stimulus law.

McCain may have already taken us to war with Iran.

  17. Chris C. says:

Since presidents are chosen and not elected in this country I can only state that whoever gets in there makes no difference. The path is already set years in advance. TPTB merely decide which face goes with which impending disaster.

  18. Goldenfoxx says:

Comments….. McPain would have been no different – perhaps even worse.  McPain would not have secured the border since he was for making illegals legal.  Only this past election did he flip flop on the issue.  McPain is nothing but a Rhino Repuglican.  He voted for the bailout — remember he got his butt back to Washington to take the vote because the US was about ready to collapse.  We didn’t really have a good candidate to vote for, dog poo or cat poo take your pick.

  19. Anonymous says:

I disagree with all of you!  Mc would have taken a nap & kicked the can further down the road while unleashing some military might.  #1 is putting his Air Jordan’s & wizard hat on to cook up a plan while putting his feet up on the desk.  Deflation bad……inflation good.

  20. lostinmissouri says:

Juan McCain would have been a lot worse!   At least with BHO as pres.,  we have some opposition,  via the phony repubs.
If McCain was pres……he would have already legalized all of Mexico………just mho.

  21. overtheedge says:

Comments…..McCain a maverick? Well he talks the talk railing against the republicrats, but when the vote is taken, he falls right in party line. Always has, always will.

Palin? She is a quiter, plain and simple. She left Wasilla heavily in debt, ran up the state budget. Most folks are in total disbelief that the Alaska residents are on the hook for roughly $20K per man woman and child in state debt. Troopergate is still alive and well.  She is a hotty, but she was a token woman to get a few votes. Remember the hockey-mom/ pit bull speil? So she slaps lipstick on a pit bull, cruises the neighborhood and mauls children. Don’t kid yourself, our children and grandchildren on are the hook for the debts of their parents.

No, the McCain-Palin ticket wouldn’t have changed doodley squat. It doesn’t matter how much pretty red paint you slap on the engine,  it is still broke. Adjusting this, adding that, yada yada, all you have done is spent borrowed money on a broken engine. The fix will cost everyone a horrible price that nobody is willing to spend.

BTW, how is failure to accomplish the mission heroism. He got shot down, spent years as a POW and we call this heroism? No, this is just survival. Even a bag-lady living on the streets of LA meets this criteria. She survived the collapse of her economic environment, she lives daily within a hostile environment with little to no hope for the future, yet she lives on. Well what can we expect with the standards for heroism so low.

At least the bag-lady probably won’t be flagged as a possible belligerent. I have little doubt that this old soldier is; simply because I took my oath to defend the Constitution serious every time (8X). Shame on me!

  22. GoneWithTheWind says:

McCain would have done many of the same things and would have gone along with a Democrat congress.  But that is the ONLY benefit of having elected Obama!  That is that it was Obama and the Democrats in congress who screwed us over so maybe finally most adults in America will wkae up to the agenda of the left.  Democrats were not always socialist/communists.  They were always big spenders and always corrupt but they changed over the last 50 years and should now be called the Socialist Democrat party.  They are paying off their special interest groups, like the unions, right out in front of everyone.  It used to be that political thugs had the good sense to pay off their friends in private under the table.  Now they are so confident that they are untouchable they are doing it blatantly.  The ONLY thing that will change them is a BIG loss at the polls and not just this time but in 2012 and 2014 and 2016…

  23. Tom says:

I think a bag lady would have left the POW camp as soon as it was offered, with a PBJ sandwich.  MCCain did not.  He put others before him.  Have you seen the USS Forrestal Fire video?  MCCain was there in his A-4 Skyhawk.  The ship was put out of commission & he volunteered to transfer to other aircraft carrier to continue.  Hmmmm, I believe there was a little bit of torture involved also.  They used him as a political tool & he didn’t ride the cheap seat.  Have you ever spoken to a POW that was in the Hilton?

  24. Goldenfoxx says:

Comments….. If I’m not mistaken, he served on the USS Oriskany which the Oriskany aided the Forrestal when it caught on fire.  Okay, so he was a POW, what is he doing now to make our lives better?  One can’t keep running around saying “I was a POW, therefore I am worthy, I’m entitled.”  Kerry did the same thing however, he was called out on it.  I have relatives and friends who served in the military as well, however, they don’t go around  thinking that they are better than anyone else or entitled to more than anyone else.  The only thing McPain had over Obumma, is his military service.  Hell, even Obumma was never a boy scout, or even held a real paying job–that disqualifies him right there IMHO.

  25. DurangoKidd says:

John, would have done much the same as Obama. He was once a hero and a Patriot. Once. The problem is, like most incumbants, once you have been inside the Beltway for more than 12 month, you catch the GFlue: R1,D1,L1 and like Pelosi, you become enamered about WHO you think you are; rather than WHAT you are there to do.

John has been in the Congress and Senate for 30 odd plus years now. John is not he solution. John is the PROBLEM. We needed new representation in Arizona and won’t get it.

It’s not that I question John’s Patriotism, now; I question his intelligence. You don’t have to have an invitation from Mensa to connect the dots on Illegal Immigration, NWO Wars of pacification, and that giant sucking sound taking the means of American production offshore. All of that is simply Econ 101.

John is no longer one of US. He is one of THEM!

  26. Tom says:

I agree DK.  Two terms for politicians, one term in office, one in jail as stated earlier.  Non Golden foxx,  refer back to blog #9.  You are forgiven.  Read your history before you negate yourself, you are mistaken again.  I know a little bit about the ship he served on with 3 cruises myself on the USS Forrestal with over 200 traps (landings) & walked by the bronze memorial in hangar bay #2 with 134 names, every day for over 2 years out at sea.  Your woman’s scorn is amazing!  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_McCain  for your simple reading (pay attention to dates).   You say ” The only thing McPain had over Obumma, is his military service.”  You show your intelligence right there.  You have no idea what military personnel does for your country no matter who serves the presidential office.   In your HO, what a lib statement!
