VP Pence Unveils Trump’s Space Force; Will Cost $8 Billion Over 5 Years

Back in March, President Trump first introduced the idea of a US “space force”, renewing a long-running debate that began almost 20 years ago whether the Pentagon’s space activities should be moved to a new command. Then in June, Trump explicitly called for the new branch to be created, despite resistance from the Air Force, which oversees military space programs.

Fast forward to today, when Vice President Mike Pence announced the first steps in the creation of a space force as a entirely new military branch.

Speaking alongside Defense Secretary James Mattis at the Pentagon Thursday, Pence announced that “establishing the Space Force is an idea whose time has come.”

And while big questions remain – while the Pentagon has begun the process of establishing Space Force as a 6th branch of the U.S. military, only Congress has the power to establish a new branch of the military – one thing is clear: Trump’s reorganization of US defense will cost a lot of money, and for the first time we learned just how much when Mike Pence said that the Trump administration will call on Congress to allocate $8 billion over the next five years to establish the U.S. Space Force as the sixth branch of the military.

“It’s not enough to have an American presence in space,” Pence said. “We must have American dominance in space. And so we will.”

“Our adversaries have transformed space into a war fighting domain already and the United States will not shrink from this challenge,” Pence said. “History proves that peace only comes through strength, and in the realm of outer space, the United States space force will be that strength in the years ahead,” he added.

Today there are “tens of thousands of military personnel, civilians and contractors operating and supporting our space systems, together they are the eyes and ears of America’s warfighters around the globe”, Pence said.

Trump approved:

The first step in the creation of Trump’s space force calls for the creation of U.S. Space Command, led by a four-star flag officer. The second step is the creation of an “elite group of joint warfighters specializing in the domain of space.”

The report also calls for a Space Development Agency to develop new technologies, and establishing a new civilian position to oversee the standup of Space Force – an assistant secretary of defense for space.

Curiously, while Secretary of Defense James Mattis previously disapproved of the idea saying last year he opposed creating additional bureaucracy at the Pentagon, on Thursday Mattis – perhaps impressed with all those billions that would be collected from taxpayers – changed his mind and said “space is one of our vital national interests” and is “no longer a new domain.”

Still, a major hurdle remains as Congress would have to approve a new military service, and lawmakers have been divided on the idea. The new branch would need to compete for money with other big, politically protected Defense Department priorities that Congress already funds. However, as Pence said today, the administration is already working with Congress to get approval for the Space Force service branch, including Reps. Thornberry, Smith, Rogers, Cooper, and will ask for authorization in FY20 NDAA.

What is strange is that the U.S. already has a space-based military footprint as Bloomberg notes:

The sky is teeming with spy satellites and other platforms that support government surveillance, communications, weather forecasting and other activities. The Air Force also has a top-secret aircraft, the X-37B, built by Boeing Co., which orbits the earth for extended periods.

But why spend less, when one can spend more?

As Bloomberg further adds, the primary driver behind the push to formalize a space branch of the U.S. armed forces is motivated by space investment by Russia and China. In 2007, China fired a missile to destroy an aged weather satellite, demonstrating in a dramatic fashion its ability to deploy anti-satellite weapons.

For those curious, following Mattis’ speech the DoD is expected to release a report to Congress on the creation of a separate Space Force.

* * *

Predictably, it did not take long for the Democrats to lash out at the idea. Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) on Thursday blasted the Trump administration’s commitment to a space force, and suggested its only moving forward because Republicans won’t speak out against it.

“The VP just announced a new military branch – a ‘Space Force,’ because no R is willing to tell POTUS it’s a dumb idea,” Schatz tweeted.

“Although ‘Space Force’ won’t happen, it’s dangerous to have a leader who cannot be talked out of crazy ideas,” he added, urging followers to elect Democrats in the November midterms.

The wonderous technilogical change that occurred due to NASA resulted in a vast technological that in some areas gave exponential growth.

Similarly, Japan used MITI to do research and disseminate it to their kaisha bound industries who colaborate as powerhouse groups. And this had a similar effect.

Why not do it again? I think the total privitazation of space is a dangerous idea as corporations would plant flags on moons, asteroids, and planets and supercede nation-states!

It is one those rare instances where colonization by idependent groups of people coupled with joint ventures for trade use, then is useful as long as we do not repeat the mistakes of the past in cases where alien indigenous life is found.

Imagine the monumental error of Soros owning a planet. And what if lifeforms are on it and if some billionaire wants to terraform it? Or what if a planet is within the sphere of influence of extraterrestrials?

There are very important diplomatic elements to consider. That is why the Earth’s moon doesn’t belong to any nation….or worse, some corporation.

Hey, here’s an idea. How about investing $8 Billion back into the country that is desperately needed and fuck off with your illegal Space Force bullshit.

People support this dumbass (trump) nonsense bullshit?

I don’t believe they can cure or even treat a scum ass liberal/progressive turd. A bullet maybe.

        • Infidel says:

$8 billion will pay for a lot of bullets, more than enough to permanently erradicate all liberals, muslims, niggas, and scumbag politicians and lawyers, and Make Earth Great Again.

          • Genius says:

            I like yer style! 🙂

          • TharSheBlows says:

People don’t know about many of the facts about NASA, but when it shut down in Cape Canaveral they left a huge toxic waste dump behind. And its projected to take over 100 years to clean the mess up. Another costly SuperFund waste cleanup the US Taxpayers get the Tab for.

Any project the Graberment claims would cost, easy double and triple that amount. Look at the failed F-35 project and many others. Its a lot of fun when its other peoples money. Id rather see the money spent on infrastructure like shovel ready jobs like road and bridge construction, Free and open internet with full free speech, not this frightened pussy moderation holding tank for approval bs.

  3. Quantum Bubbler says:

Exactly the reason this planet is set to be removed from the Universe. Peace. You have not achieved Peace. 🙂

  4. Maranatha says:

First, 8 billion seems like a lot until you realize it isn’t very much due to inflation that’s about 4 billion in 1990 dollars. Then we could reasonably expect a 14 fold return on investment.

Spend 8 billion and get 72 billion back. Works for me!

    • TharSheBlows says:

Remember GW Bush saying the OIL will pay for the war and the Low IQ minions jumped in line, lock step. OK so $5 to $7 Trillion wasted later. All we got was $4.50 a gallon gas pump prices. Its all BS lies. All costly fraud and plunder.

      • Maranatha says:

I think it’s tragic that an intellgent person can’t be bothered to look up the FACT that NASA has a 14 fold return on investment.

But what is ridiculous is the FACT that it is obvious given practically all technological advances that occurred after the space program profoundly affect 100% of Americans daily.

Name a government program outside NASA and the IRS that shows that kind of profit. I suspect you cannot.

  5. Shroom says:

Well, we’ve got NASA, NORAD, AFSpace command,Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command,United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command and several dozen other strategic military and government command structures that overlap, undercut and soak up budget to the tune of WAAAAAAY more than 8B$ over 5 years. All those little bureaucratic domains would go away under one command with a dedicated(ie all as one branch of the military) force of personnel. The military is standing up and down various wings, divisions, battalions, squadrons etc all the time to the tune of billions each year, 8 billion over 5 years is nothing and while creating a new bureaucracy it will cut out many layers of proprietary BS interfering with keeping the nation safe through the domain of space.

    • Fritz says:

Eliminate layers of bureaucracy and unnecessary commands? Thanks, I needed a good one today.

    • TharSheBlows says:

Id demand the pentagon be forced to produce a zero based budget. Probably would save $300 to $400 Billiin a year. So what happened to Trumps big audit of the Pentagon? Crickets….

The MIC Mafia are licking their chops and already ordering personal yachts for this plunder windfall profits. We need to tske the profit out of Warfare. This $8 Billion is borrowed money that some banker will lend for a massive profit. Another Goldman Sachs, Duwee Cheatem and How ripoff.

  6. aljamo says:

A space force to protect the empty space in this governments heads. A space force to take out anyone from afar who objects to the appointed grand poohbah dictates. A space force to exterminate non capitalist thinking threats. A space force to welcome the incoming occupying aliens, but wtfdik.

  7. Norrak says:

This a bunch of non-feasible nonsense. There’s nothing wrong with putting some type of satellites in space as a defense against Russian/Chinese satellites, but the costs must be controlled. 8 billion dollars is a lot of money. And if Trump’s plan includes developing Space Soldiers and a bunch of space stations it will never be feasible. No one is that adept at putting humans in space and never will be, because there is too much to overcome. This will sound like a stupid cliché, but man was not made for outer space, and that’s the reality of it. Also why must man now litter and pollute space? It’s time to clean up the mess they’ve made here on our earth.

    • jaxx says:

Maybe. But if we end up making a future for the species in space and we are allowed to vote on what it should look like, mark me down for a Firefly future.

    • Menzoberranzan says:

We spend 60 billion a year keeping up the scum illegals. Drop in bucket to that. Let’s cut the scum off and have a better space force and save some dough.

      • Norrak says:

You’re right about cutting off the illegals, they are entitled to nothing….. they’re law breakers. US citizens who break the law and are in jail for more than 30 days do not get to draw there social security checks while incarcerated. So why should these illegal law breakers get anything?! But then you would have all the liberal snowflakes crying about it, and I would say ” then you support them”.

America also sends Israel Billions of dollars a year for absolutely no logical reason at all, yet you are fine with this kind of charity?

You “born again christians” are without a doubt, full blown retarded.

        • Norrak says:

No, I am not fine with sending Israel billons of dollars for no apparent reason. As I’ve said many times the Jews are no longer God’s chosen people. They did not accept Jesus when he walked the earth, and they still do not accept him today. Some Christian Americans believe the Jews are still favored by God, but this is not true. Why would God favor someone who called for Christ’ death? As for you Anonymous, when the time comes for Christ’ return, we will see who is the “retarded” ones. I hope you change your mind before that time.

      • TharSheBlows says:

I agree time to deport all these sqatter dual citizen scum back to their 3rd world country shtt holes they created.

Also cut off the professional victim beggar welfare loser queens. And shut down the holohoax wax museums.

  8. TharSheBlows says:

The Sky isn’t the Limit, but our National Bank Account is.

  9. Maranatha says:

Without NASA, there wouldn’t have been small practical nuclear reactors, digital electronics, data transmission, personal computers, satellite technology, modern ballistics, advances in communications, digital displays, etc.

In other words, practically technology of the information age got its start due to NASA. How many government agencies actually make money? Other than the IRS and NASA, all cost more than they make in profit.

What sadly happened was very few Americans understood the vast leaps in technology as a result of space exploration. All they saw was moon missions of which they rapidly got bored.

When in fact there were ambitious plans at establishing a lunar base that would have not only paid for itself by various things like space telescopes very early on, but mining technology advances and likely rocket launches from space which is cheap by comparison to Earth based launches which are very expensive.

Space based weapons like nuclear missiles would be far safer on the moon versus land based and even submarine based.

    • Maranatha says:

I think it’s Heinlein’s The Moon is a Harsh Mistress in which an established lunar colony of mixed immigrants (rather like American history) who declare their independence and start chucking manmade asteroids by busting up lunar rock and immediately Earth nations cave to their demands as such asteroids would far exceed the immense force of nuclear ICBMs and would be unstopable.

It takes very little to create such powerful weapons, but to launch similar force from the Earth due to gravity is nigh impossible. That is how vauable low gravity is.

It’s theorized extremely strong metals could be formed in space that could never be replicated on the Earth.

    • Norrak says:

Yes, lets take a chance on blowing up the moon and really make the earth unlivable.

    • Fritz says:

      Don’t forget Tang!

    • Genius says:

They are reserving the moon for advertising…

      • TharSheBlows says:

Thats right Genius. Im sure with the laser technology today they could engrave the moon surface with a laser for advertising. Similar to the slap in the face the Souix Indians got with the white mans engraving at Mt Rushmore. Shhhh dont give em and ideas.

  10. Archivist says:

Still, people many years ago probably thought the idea of an Air Force was crazy.

The Marine Corps is part of the Navy. The Space Force should be just a part of the Air Force, which is where all the assets are right now anyway.

It shouldn’t cost $8 billion just to reassign some people and have some new patches manufactured.

  11. Anonymous says:

A “space force” makes much more sense than having other branches of the military with other areas of expertise in warfare trying to add a new and unrelated mission to their agenda along with all the needed personnel and facilities involved.

  12. Frank Thoughts says:

From space we can clean up the crap down here, including the ballooning populations of mud people. Just as the Air Force made it possible to do area bombing, so space will make it possible to take out any menace or country. The world population has to come down by 4 billion at least. Where we have very healthy genes, we need to encourage more early breeding. Pair up 16 year olds with mature men of 50 plus so the child has a father with money. Switch to a more advanced human species.

Space is also the final frontier. We need to boldly go where no man, sorry, trans, black woman has gone before. These will be the voyages of the Star ship The Donald.

As we know, there already is a space command and has been since the end of World War Two. They are just acknowledging it now.

  13. Cost 8 billion over 5 years

That’s just the down payment. Wonder who will be the real recipients of said monies. I guess people are wise to who gets foreign aide. Could launder lots of dirty money with a space scam. Who knows what this is. Could be a set up for a fake alien threat from the skies. Tech images reflected back to earth? There might be airplanes headed for the Twin Towers in the clouds. Stay calm. It is not real. It Israel.

    • TharSheBlows says:

The Pentagon can’t even account for 25% of their annual budgets now. Thats $175 Billion a year disappeared into somebody’s pockets. The US Govnt is a complete Fraud.

    • Fritz says:

B from CA: They have run out of ways to figure out how on Earth to spend more money that we don’t have. The sky is the limit now.

      • TharSheBlows says:

Just one space shuttle load of Helium3 from the moon could power the US for an entire year. Wanna know why China wants to land on the moon? To harvast this Helium3 energy source. In my opinion.

        • Fritz says:

          TSB,
Were that but the case that the United States was going to lead the nations of the world on a noble venture to the moon to retrieve clean, limitless energy for all the people on Earth, I would be all on-board with my little shovel. At this point in time though, having abandoned our shuttle program and heavy lift rocketry, I do not believe that 8 billion over 5 years would be enough to get us back into low Earth orbit much less to the moon and back with crew, new craft, and technology to harvest the H3 isotope in quantity. Then there is the fact that no one has yet developed a sustainable fusion reactor that yields a net power output. I am not saying that research into these should not go forward or even that the US should not reestablish its dominance in space exploration. It should, in my opinion. Mr. Trump, however, has not well articulated his vision for the Space Force beyond the establishment of a new military command with an ill-defined mission. Color me skeptical but all I am seeing is another boondoggle for the military-industrial complex that will grow into another government monstrosity that will intrude its way into our lives and never go away.

  18. Although a space force could consist of satellites and weapons like rod of god or something simple, I don’t believe in most of NASA’s “space travel” stories.

For one thing, the technology back in the sixties was not very advanced to take on manned space voyages. What about the micro meteorites, the radiation, the extreme heat and cold?

If you study some of the systems supposedly used in manned space travel, it is easy to see that it was a fabrication. How do you go on a 12 1/2 day space flight with a diaper to hold eight days of shit that needed to be worn until splash down? How did they keep cool on a 10 hour moon walk? They describe an air conditioner type of backpack, but if you read the explanation of how that could work in a vacuum, it is bogus. Closed system, you say? AC doesn’t work in a closed system. It needs to vent either water or water vapor to eliminate the heat.

There are many, many discrepancies in government propaganda as seen on the teevee for 50 years. So much of the crap we have been fed and are still being fed by the government and it’s media lackeys is false and with just a bit of research you can see that.

This is why they will shut down or censor the internet to only mirror the story they want you to believe. We have been so gullible… Eddie Bernays would be proud of himself.

  19. Another out of this world topic:

Otto Von Bismarck was shot twice by an English 3ew. But the bullets had no real effect. Miracle? The king thought so, and gave him the position and power he wanted.

They say three bullets grazed him as he grabbed the gun away from the assailant. Two shots fired richochet off his ribs. But like you, my first thought was to question whether or not he wore some type of protection in the form of a bullet proof vest. The claim is that the gun was pressing so tightly against his body that it created a kind of vacuum. I tend to favor your conclusion.

The official story about the shooter is also suspicious. He died in police custody, an apparent suicide. Who cuts their own throat? I think the attempted assassin probably was a victim of instant “justice” and “police ‘brutality’”. Things were a little different before the age of law suits.

It was just a matter of when, not if. I’m concerned about omnipotent power being abused especially if its so one sided that preemptive attack becomes plausible. Conversely its also inevitable that China would militarily “reach for the stars”. Stone, club, lance, bow and arrow, cannon / firearm, aircraft, rocket……….space and ray gun; its unstoppable. We MAY be able to thwart the erosion of the Bill Of Rights however. Advancement of military power / technology will not be stopped.

If we actually had a frank discussion on Dispensationalism and Christian Zionism, I would participate and explain the many theological errors. But not in a topic on NASA.

    However in brief…

There is almost nothing in common between the 12 tribes of Israel and modern self-declared Hebrews who falsely claim membership in the tribe of Judah.

And then, once people understood the Biblical definition, and without animosity, explain why Christian zionism is wrong, then you would understand. And then discuss why do people persist with this false idea that postmodern Hebrews are the chosen people, which is not Biblical.

The reality is the Israelites were YHWH’s chosen people BUT other verses then alter this by including Christians as inheritors of YHWH’s covenant with Abraham. That is Biblical and I’m perfectly happy and able to calmly discuss that.

Basucally all you need is this passage to see how that is valid.

19Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. 20Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. 21Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. 22But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

23But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

    Sons Through Faith in Christ

26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28There is neither J ew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
    Galatians 3:19-29

The 12 tribes were Israelites under the promise but rejected Jesus. And in 1 John, whoever denies Jesus has neither YHWH nor Jesus and thus is an antichrist.

Christians DEFINITELY are under YHWH’s promise to Abraham. If you don’t believe it, then Galatians proves it!

There are similar passages. I can’t help it if you don’t know the Bible. That honestly is a fault of your pastor and laziness as the Bible is crystal clear on this topic.

Aliens are demons. The great deception will come in the form of aliens offering peace on earth for all people. They’ll offer us some kind of wonderful genetical cure-all for humanity, ending suffering, diseases, death etc… but that amazing cure-all they offer will be nothing less than THE MARK OF THE BEAST which also changes our DNA. Once your God made DNA has been altered by these deceiving devils you’ll render yourself beyond salvation… Stand fast, trust in Jesus The Messiah. He will be returning very soon.

You would think that hardening the entire US grid would be a higher priority for a 2 billion. Knowing that the deep state and breakaway civilization is already operating tech a 100+ years into the future for over two decades now.
