With Gen. John Kelly set to be sworn in as Trump’s new Chief of Staff, just days after the latest and most advanced North Korean ICBM test yet, one which can reportedly reach as much as half the major metro areas on the continental US, President Trump on Monday pledged to “handle” North Korea’s provocative belligerence, without specifying exactly how he would do so as he faces rising tensions and limited options.

“We’ll handle North Korea. We’re going to be able to handle North Korea. It will be handled. We handle everything,” Trump told reporters at the start of Monday’s first Cabinet meeting with his new Chief of Staff, flanked by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Defense Secretary James Mattis.

The comments follow “guidance” from the US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, who on Sunday told CNN that the “time for talk” is over. As CNN noted, “it was a seemingly stark admission – the US ambassador to the UN suggesting the North Korean crisis couldn’t be solved through diplomatic channels in the Security Council.”

On Firday, the Pentagon confirmed that North Korea fired an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the United States. The missile, fired from north central North Korea, traveled 600 miles before it fell into the Sea of Japan. Following the missile test, Trump said Saturday on Twitter that he was “very disappointed” in China for not doing more to curb North Korea’s missile program.

“I am very disappointed in China,” Trump tweeted. “Our foolish past leaders have allowed them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk.”

Trump has repeatedly pressed China, North Korea’s only major ally, to put more economic pressure on Pyongyang, lamenting that he has few other options left to try to check North Korea. Trump did not hint at what actions he could take on Monday, but recent comments suggest he could take more steps to try to get China to act.

On Monday, Reuters reported that a “frustrated” China hit back over Trump’s weekend tweets, with the state-run nationalistic Chinese tabloid Global Times saying that “Pyongyang is determined to develop its nuclear and missile program and does not care about military threats from the U.S. and South Korea” adding “how could Chinese sanctions change the situation?”

China wants both balanced trade with the United States and lasting peace on the Korean peninsula, its official Xinhua news agency added in a commentary. “However, to realize these goals, Beijing needs a more cooperative partner in the White House, not one who piles blame on China for the United States’ failures,” it added.

Also over the weekend, the United States flew two supersonic B-1B bombers over the Korean peninsula in a show of “lethal, overwhelming force” on Sunday in response to the missile test and the July 3 launch of the “Hwasong-14” rocket, the Pentagon said. The bombers took off from a U.S. air base in Guam and were joined by Japanese and South Korean fighter jets during the exercise.

“North Korea remains the most urgent threat to regional stability,” Pacific Air Forces commander General Terrence J. O’Shaughnessy said in a statement. “If called upon, we are ready to respond with rapid, lethal, and overwhelming force at a time and place of our choosing.”

As reported earlier, South Korea’s Kospi stock index, oblivious of the constant threat of military action in its northern neighbor, closed 0.07% in the green, just shy of all time highs.

It will not be pretty! Will it be possible to contain a ‘surgical strike’ and it not cause a chain reaction? The war drums are getting louder and louder. Perhaps Congress can contain it or put a hold on it? But they seem to want war. Congress, both the GOP and the DNC, has essentially put the US on a collision course with Russia after their latest sanctions bill.

      • The Deplorable Braveheart says:

Laeagle, Congress are the some of the ones instigating all of this. They’ve boxed in Trump so bad politically he has no choice but to sign the sanctions bill. I wish he could just somehow come up with an EO REMOVING ALL PREVIOUS SANCTIONS on Russia and have a real showdown with Congress. All of the neocons and libturds need to be eliminated.

        • laeagle says:

          TDB,

The GOP in Congress cannot succeed if they are being led by the likes of John McCain and Lindsey Graham and those three women Murkowski, Collins, and Capito. Their egos have gotten the best of them. The Turncoats will need to be voted out next time around and isolated in the meantime.

It looks like the Russia collusion narrative is falling apart and the Demonrats and their DNC may become the focus of investigations. It will be great if the ‘tables can be turned’ against the conspirators both in the DNC and in the GOP. They should show no mercy, and take no prisoners. I am wondering if the AG Sessions is up to the challenge? I hope POTUS is beginning to see who his enemies are. Mooch had his 15 seconds of fame and went out with his tail tucked between his legs.

Concerning the NORKs, an ancient Master once said, “There is no avoiding war; it can only be postponed to the advantage of others.”

As previously covered on The Common Sense Show, former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, created the Venezuelan crisis and the CIA is attempting to overthrow President Maduro before the Russians can intervene. Just another hot spot in this cold war that could go hot at any time. Here is the complete story of this problem-reaction-strategy of the Deep State.

I sure do – feel a sense of ‘battle fatigue’. Meanwhile, Ivanka is going to start up a new business selling a new line of feminine products inspired by her douche-bag father. War is coming because gosh darn it, it is the American way!!! These 6 GOP Senators Voted to Repeal Obamacare in 2015–But Voted to Keep it in 2017
    07-30-2017 • ht tp://libertyviral.com
In 2015, eager to send a political message, the U.S. Senate passed a bill that would have repealed most of Obamacare’s regulations and taxes. The legislation garnered 52 “aye” votes, but was overridden by then-President Barack Obama.

Most of those Senators are still in office (48 of 52). However, this week the Senate was only able to muster 45 votes. So what happened? Reason has the answer:

“Six senators who voted for the 2015 bill voted against the repeal effort.

They are Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., Dean Heller, R-Nev., John McCain, R-Ariz., Lisa Murkowski R-Alaska, and Rob Portman, R-Ohio.”

It’s worth noting that each of these Senators also voted against the passage of Obamacare in 2010. Now, however, they can’t seem to bring themselves to repeal the law they voted against.

Worse, at least some of these Senators used the unpopularity of Obamacare to win reelection.

Crack Summ Skulls, voting no longer works!!! The people in this country have 3 boxes to use, to make their leaders listen to them. First we used the soap box, to let our leaders know we were not happy with where they were taking our country.

Next we used both the soap box, and the voting box to make our wishes known. WE elected a Republican House, Republican Senate, and Republican White House because we were told they needed this power to set things right.

Well now they have the power, but our country is still headed in the WRONG direction! The next box people have is the cartridge box, i feel our leaders, media talking heads, and college professors are about to meet this box real soon, because this country is at it’s breaking point.

The ‘Israel Anti-Boycott Law’ Is Beyond Repair

Writing Israeli Policies Into US Law Is Dangerous
by Grant Smith/ Posted on July 28, 2017

The AIPAC-sponsored Israel Anti-Boycott Law, introduced in the House of Representatives as H.R.1697 and Senate as S.720, has generated a storm of grassroots pushback. The Intercept and American Civil Liberties Union protested the proposed laws, arguing that Americans supporting boycotts of Israel over its human rights violations could be hit with fines up to $1 million and jail time up to 20 years.

Senator Ben Cardin responded to the ACLU, promising to “fix” the bill so that it would not infringe on freedom of speech or target individual Americans. However, freedom of speech was only one enormous flaw in the legislation, which is the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s top 2017 lobbying priority. The other key problem with the Israel Anti-Boycott Law is that it inserts Israel into places it has no right to be – at the very center of laws protecting U.S. national security, trade and that moderate expansive presidential economic powers during emergencies.

Because it is yet another case of Congress trying to write foreign policy – like the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 – the proposed law relies upon a stalking horse, in this case the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, as its central authority. The 1977 IEEPA law limits presidential authority to regulate commerce after declaring a national emergency in response to any unusual and extraordinary threat to the US which has a foreign source. The IEEPA itself falls under provisions of the 1976 National Emergencies Act (NEA), which governs how such special presidential powers to declare emergencies are to be invoked and then limiting their duration, through annual renewal requirements.

A 1973 Senate report on “emergencies” still in effect at the time under NEA listed bona fide but fading threats to the United States, such as the 1933 banking crisis, the 1950 emergency of the Korean War, and a 1970 postal workers strike. Israel’s growing international ostracization, which is generating worldwide grassroots calls for boycotts, is not a US emergency. Rather, it is a direct result of Israel’s brutal settler-colonial policies and increasing global awareness of Israel’s activities.

IEEPA has been misused in the recent past. After 9/11, IEEPA was invoked to block assets of accused “terrorist” organizations. This resulted in the formation of a new, secretive, AIPAC-backed office in the US Treasury Department that immediately struck down charities such as Al-Haramain, Benevolence International, Global Relief, and Kind Hearts with little due process. Javed Iqbal was arrested through Treasury Department complaints of violating IEEPA for broadcasting Al-Manar over his cable network in New York City to offer viewers a counterpoint to typical US televised narratives during the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict. Charges against Iqbal could not be defended based on free speech, since he was charged with material support for a global terrorist entity (Hezbollah). Iqbal was sentenced to almost 6 years in jail.

Beyond subverting the First Amendment, which it is clearly intended to do, the Israel Anti-Boycott Law inserts Israel into Chapter 56 – Export Administration section 4607, making Israel the only specifically designated foreign country in a trade law designed to advance US – not foreign – commercial interests. IABA suddenly makes US policing of foreign countries possibly interested in BDS, blocs such as the European Union and the UN, a US national security interest and problem – which they are clearly not – by placing Israel at the center of the US Export Administration Act of 1979. IABL amendments seek to ban organizations like the UN from compiling and distributing lists of companies doing business in territories illegally occupied by Israel. What US national interest is served by banning transparency over illegal Israeli activity? No interest.

Finally, the bill’s “rule of construction” mandates “nothing in this section shall be construed to alter the established policy of the United States or to establish new United States policy concerning final status issues associated with the Arab-Israeli conflict, including border delineation, that can only be resolved through direct negotiations between the parties.” Translated into English, this means that Israel and its lobby can continue to use the US as a diplomatic lever, but Palestinians cannot employ UN, the EU or other allies in the international community, as a comparable counterweight.

There are many reasons why Israel might want the US to rewrite laws designed to advance America, to protect Israel against economic backlash. Few Americans are served by such meddling. So why do members of congress such as Ben Cardin quietly foist such laws on their constituents (and fellow Americans), to the extent of threatening fines and prison time?

    The Israel lobby.

Among Ben Cardin’s top 20 year 2017 donors, 86% of the individual contributors administer, ran, or belong to Israel affinity organizations, including Howard Friedman, a former president of AIPAC. Among his top non-Democratic Party PAC contributors in the top 20, two are pro-Israel stealth PACs, providing 31% of his top-20 2017 PAC revenue. Members of the Israel lobby, not Marylanders, are Cardin’s top constituent on such matters.

Although mainstream media and congressional attention is raptly fixated on Russia as America’s biggest foreign agent threat, the Israel Anti-Boycott Law is yet another harsh warning that until the Foreign Agents Registration Act is properly enforced over Israel’s agents, including those already ordered to register such as AIPAC, Americans can expect escalating attempts by the lobby to curtail their governance, economic freedom and liberty.

I think China will back North Korea as they did in The Korean Conflict.

Yes, a surgical strike to destroy launch sites, missile assembly areas and perhaps a Bunker or two where intelligence has declared a special weapons storage area.

Suppose The North Korean leader really feels an attack is coming, then he really does put a weapon(s) of mass destruction on top of a missile or Missiles(s)and sends it towards Hawaii, Alaska or the states itself?

At the same time North Korea may attack the South, then what?

This matter with North Korea could have dealt by earlier administrations, now he feels empowered and he has some powerful backers.

No doubt this part of the world is on edge.

Some Americans aren’t taking this seriously, but they should I think.

Instead of attacking North Korea, if that is the plan, perhaps a blockage or stop the supplier of missile parts and other type items?

It is as if as some have said, a designed script unfolding.
    A one with dangerous implications.

    Just my opinion.

Why are we not deploying tactical nukes on anti ballistic missiles, in order to intercept his ICBM’s?

You wanna bet the farm on something you WISH MIGHT work?

With a tactical nuke you can miss by a quarter mile or something and still hit the thing. What’s wrong with you. I mean HE LAUNCHED FIRST in this scenario for fuck’s sake.

If it’s an issue of putting them in Guam and the world freaking out then put them on submarines and don’t tell anyone. Or something…

      • watching and waiting says:

Used to do that with the sprint and spartan anti-missile defense.

Yes, The U.S. in the 60’s up to the 70’s did have a anti-missile defense tipped supposely with a nuclear warhead.

The missiles now set to intercept a ICBM Launch towards Hawaii are stationed in California and Alaska.

I suspect that there is a limited space based systems available also to do such a task also. Star wars we called it.

The government has more assets than it has revealed.

Foreign countries are permitted to have political lobbies in Washington, DC to influence Congress in the making of laws. This is open and continuing interference in our political process. Under the argument that requiring voters to show picture identifcation when they vote is racist, large numbers of illegal immigrants were able to vote in the last election. How is this not foreign interference. I’m all for getting rid of all foreign interference in our political process but let’s get it all and not keep focusing on supposed Russian interference.

  13. Upstate New Yorker says:

I am watching and waiting. Pray for wisdom for the President of the United States and those that surround him. Listening to Clyde lewis, this news broke an hour go. North Korea now has the ability to launch a missile from one of their submarines, bringing the danger of a coastal strike closer to home. I think most Americans are oblivious to it all, working hard to make a living and to bring home food for the family, trying to enjoy a hot dog or steak on the grill, getting sick and tired of the fake news not reporting what really is going on. Many are too busy with real life to sift through all the news going on around them, Internet, radio, television. There was a diver lurking around the military ships in Norfolk, Virginia, now they are looking for him. I am no bible scholar, but I thought WW3 would come out of the middle East. The U.S. is preparing for something. That much is a given. Preparing just went up a notch on my end. Best to all of you.

  14. dandelion says:

Instead of having Syria as the main enemy now it’s NK. Another proxy war. What did China do that the US want to start it?
Europe (Germany) is more than angry about the new sanctions with Russia, how many allies are left? Dumb Turnbull maybe but who else?

  15. Richard Steven Hack says:

NK’s missiles can NOT hit the continental US. They are UNGUIDED, meaning they can’t be programmed to hit ANYTHING as an actual target. Both Russia and South Korea have confirmed this. The best they could is land somewhere in Alasks which is 1,500 miles away from the continental US.

The whole “NK can attack the US with nukes” is complete ruminant evacuation. It’s a deliberate lie from Trump and the neocons.

  16. The only way to solve this without a war is to have someone close to the “glorious leader” assassinate him. Or a military coup. Or just leave him to his own ways. Plus, the Chinese have moved a lot of troops to the NK border. Asia Times reports that they are not regular troops. They are Special Forces. The Asia Times article suggests that the Chinese might be waiting to take advantage of any war situation, so that they can seize some land from the NK and have direct access to the Sea of Japan. Something the Chinese haven’t had since the mid 1860’s. You never know.

  17. Neal Jensen says:

If America is going to meet the threat of North Korea head on and decisively with the minimum amount of risk to the US mainland they have to adopt a mindset and strategy THEY ARE NOT READY TO ACCEPT AND EMPLOY.
You either go in and all in posture and decapitate and destroy the military in an overwhelming attack targeting the key governmental strong points, command and control of the military and the top leadership and do so in one swipe REGARDLESS OF WHAT INTERNATIONAL OPINION WILL BE AFTERWARDS, or they go in with mindset of failure and repercussions.
This threat requires a cold and calculating strategy of the fastest most decisive and complete destruction of the threat, with follow on attacks to eliminate the remnants, that it is done maximally with speed and stealth and utilizing ALL available weaponry in full spectrum strikes, OR ANY attempt to do anything less will mire the US in constant hectoring and needling and strategic covert attacks by all of our challengers on the world stage. It either needs to a be bold ALL IN approach and decisive or it will fail, and our country along with it (as is the current strategy of stupidity and incompetent political correctness).

As I said, America is NOT ready nor capable of the mindset needed to win decisively and put the rest of the world on notice that we will not be trifled with. We have already used nukes in history and are terrified of backlash if we should again. that equivocation is fatal for us.

Mad Dog Mattis KNOWS THIS if he is as schooled and strategically minded in warfare as he is made out to be. In fact he is probably the ONLY one in the military circles who knows what this will take. I don’t think he would tell the Administration to do this though as he also knows they are NOT prepared to take a determined final action. They are not mentally prepared to so nor politically minded to do so. they don’t want to WIN, they want to be politically acceptable and likeable.
