The Public Fears An Eruption At Yellowstone: ‘Spate Of Tremors’ Reported

Laying underneath the tranquil and beautiful geysers, waterfalls, and mountains of Wyoming lies the Yellowstone caldera.  The supervolcano has been worrying some for decades, but now experts fear an eruption could happen soon after reporting a “spate of tremors.”

According to WMD, a spate of four mini-tremors in the area following a period of “rest” has raised fears among some that the supervolcano is about to blow. Although the Yellowstone supervolcano hasn’t erupted for 631,000 years, scientists have been diligently working to understand the last eruption so they can more accurately predict when a big one will happen again.

The most recent quake came on March 11 when a small 1.5 tremor took place beneath the surface. The strongest one, a 1.8 magnitude earthquake, came just hours before this, and people are concerned that Yellowstone could be about to blow.

The growing concern among the public is evident, but many scientists still say the activity at the supervolcano is perfectly normal. Tom Skilling, a meteorologist for WGN News, a local news site in Chicago, explains that is it normal for the volcano to have less active weeks. “Minor earthquakes occur in the Yellowstone area 50 or more times per week, but a major eruption is not expected in the foreseeable future.”

Yellowstone is one of the most seismically active areas in the world and there are regular earthquakes detected in and around the supervolcano.  This latest spate of tremors follows a period in February where more than 200 small tremors detected were detected over a period of 10 days. According to experts with the US Geological Survey, that swarm began on February 8 in a region roughly eight miles northeast of West Yellowstone, Montana and increased dramatically in the days following.

Despite experts trying to calm nerves, concerned citizens have taken to Twitter to voice their concern about a potential eruption.  One person wrote on Twitter: “Pray to Yellowstone caldera. We can end it all.” RyGuy said on the social media site: “Yellowstone’s gonna blow up and get us all”.

If the volcano does explode, a climate shift would ensue as the supervolcano would spew massive amounts of sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere, which can form a sulfur aerosol that reflects and absorbs sunlight. The large spew of ash into the atmosphere would block out sunlight and directly affect life beneath it creating a “nuclear winter.”

This article is a farce and stoops to new lows of sensationalism.
“a spate of four mini-tremors in the area following a period of “rest” has raised fears among some” maybe among the Chicken Little’s of the world. 4 tremors did this? And I thought the recent 200 was the big, sensational news and warning.

“Tom Skilling, a meteorologist”, a weather forecaster taking on the role of a volcanologist, or a geologist? Ridiculous.

        • Paranoid says:

Odd; I live in Wyo and no one I know has even mentioned this horrible problem, must all B hiding under their beds. (Knock this crap off. I have a degree in Geology and I can say that there has to be a lot more than a few quakes to indicate a major problem.)

          • Mountain Trekker says:

Funny, I probably live as close to Yellowstone as anyone on this site, and have never heard anyone ever mention any thing about a big Blow in the Park. People up here worry more about being mauled by a Grizzly, maybe the park is shaking cause they say the Griz are up and moving around. Trekker Out

            • Mountain Trekker says:

But I have heard that Yellowstone Lake is getting higher on one side, so just as congressman Henry C Johnson said the island of Guam could tip over, I suppose Yellowstone lake could turn upside down if it gets to high on that one side. Trekker Out

    2. james says:

Actually you can by having a large amount of food and warm gear and be a long ways away. God Bless, James

    3. Sierra Dave says:

This would be a game changer. The machinations of the global elite will be for naught. It will be a mad scramble to hunker down with what food you have and wait out the 3-5 year winter.

    4. Felonious says:

The never ending stream of libtards demanding that they be given a portion of your supplies will provide enough protein to survive for 10 years. I like my libtards well done.

    5. Heartless says:

Ain’t a darned thing we could do about it; but, hope to survive. We got more pressing issues though. Let’s focus on the real problems. Like….. ‘hey, look a squirrel!!’.

    6. bb in GA says:

I see a pattern: asteroid crash, Chinese Space Station Crash, Yellowstone Volcano blow up – all three of these events have a similar chance of affecting you/happening as the chance you will win the Powerball.

Why am I reading this stuff?

    7. the blame-e says:

How does this almost daily hysteria by generated Mac Slavo and the SHTF blog not constitute propaganda?

Super volcanoes going off (almost every week). Extinction events like super volcanoes going off (almost every week). And if the readership complains, these fool idiot fear-mongers just double down with the “Ring of Fire,” all the super volcanoes are looking to blow. It’s super volcanoes 24/7.

Articles like this give tin hats and conspiracy theorists a good name.

And if we complain some more it’s “The Big One,” the colliding asteroid, UFOs, or Revelations, how the end of world in nigh. I can read crap like this over at the “New York Times,” and the “Washington Post.” I can watch crap like this on CBS, or NBC, or ABC, or CNN, CNBC. And not pay one thin dime.

What is the matter with you, Mac Slavo?

WTF? Do we not have any right to demand responsible (and properly restrained), journalism — even on the alt-site?

      • Kevin2 says:

        the blame-e

It is a “Shit Hit The Fan” Blog. Its therefore filled with “Shit Hit The Fan” articles. Unlikely? Expressed as a probability percentage yes and so is dying today but we have life insurance.

        • the blame-e says:

There is enough SHTF without all this other stuff. Why do we have to borrow trouble?

Of course, there’s always “Zero Hedge,” where we can be exposed to ads for lovely Russian women, or compliant Philippine women, all just dying for rich American men.

You want to know what’s important. It’s MSM reporting on student and teacher demonstrations against gun violence. Who is paying for this? Who is supplying transport for these students to and from the various protest sites? Who is feeding them? Who is paying them? Who is coughing up the change for all the Porto Potties?

How were these high school students organized? Who is responsible? Why are these students not in school? They have no rights. These students are still in high school. They are still legally minors and wards of the state. Speaking of high school student demonstrations — are these demonstrations state sponsored? High school student aren’t even old enough to vote.

If these demonstrations are not state-sponsored then are the NGO sponsored? You know, George Soros, the Koch Brothers and their ilk. If these demonstrations are Soros sponsored then you just know that we are not talking gun violence, not gun control, but gun confiscation. We are talking about the 2ND Amendment.

Why is nothing being reported on this? I believe these demonstrations constitute SHTF? Don’t you? And yet super volcanoes are the order of the day?

          Pathetic.

          • Kevin2 says:

Point well taken. I like the political too as it creates or feeds SHTF. Their funding is obvious. HS kids have lunch money not transport busses in masse money.

“And yet super volcanoes are the order of the day?”

I’ll bet on this. If the super volcano erupts it will overshadow the HS kids rally.

            • the blame-e says:

Tell these demonstrations are not being coordinated by the global elites? In conjunction with the demonstrations the politicians are holding formal meetings. How many students have been strategically placed in the audience? Would you or I be granted admittance? H*ll no.

If a super volcano the size of Yellowstone blows (and there are ten of them in the world) that is it. At least an extinction event is apolitical. We can thank our lucky stars for that. No Democrats and no Republicans and no NGOs and no George Soros’ required.

              At least there is that.

    8. Grunty McPhereson says:

So we’re listening to “concerned citizens” on Twitter for our pulse of the nation’s feeling about Yellowstone? Great! Let’s just be told how to feel by a bunch of millenials in moms basement 🙄

Bring it if it’s gonna happen! I’m prepped both physically and spiritually 👆🏽

    9. If you live in the Heartland, it is the New Madrid fault line. If you live on the east coast, it is the Tsunami that might be unleashed by Cumbre Vieja in the Canary Islands. On the west coast, it the San Andreas fault. In the Pacific northwest, it is the Portland Subjunction and Yellowstone. Over the whole country are falling space stations, asteroids, EMP, terrorism, and nuclear attack. Mars is actually beginning to sound good!

Students, faculty walk out across the country demanding more gun control
—–“Thousands of students are set to walk out of classrooms nationwide Wednesday to protest gun violence and call for new gun control measures on the one month anniversary of the Parkland school shooting that left 17 dead and sparked a grassroots wave of activism.

From Maine to Hawaii, students planned to walk out of school Wednesday to protest gun violence in what could be the biggest demonstration yet of the student activism that has emerged in response to last month’s massacre at Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

In nearly 3,000 protests nationwide, students from the elementary to college level are taking up the call in a variety of ways. Some planned roadside rallies to honor shooting victims and protest violence.

Others were to hold demonstrations in school gyms or on football fields. In Massachusetts and Georgia and Ohio, students said they’ll head to the statehouse to lobby for new gun regulations.”

Eric Holder Admits He Wants to Brainwash Americans – Against Guns (1995 video)
—–“What we need to do is change the way in which people think about guns, especially young people, and make it something that’s not cool, that it’s not acceptable, it’s not hip to carry a gun anymore, in the way in which we’ve changed our attitudes about cigarettes.

You know, when I was growing up, people smoked all the time. Both my parents did. But over time, we changed the way that people thought about smoking, so now we have people who cower outside of buildings and kind of smoke in private and don’t want to admit it.”

“At the end of this clip, Holder says anti-gun ads should run every day, and we need to “really brainwash people to think about guns in a vastly different way.”

The Parkland Teens Fighting For Gun Control Have The Backing Of These Huge Organizing Groups
The money trail has major players and organizations — including Michael Bloomberg, to George Soros, Planned Parenthood, Everytown, Giffords, Move On, and Women’s March LA.

“The spokesperson also said the group is “teaching and hosting trainings” for young activists across the US “to keep momentum going so they don’t get burned out.”

Well, if it happens, that pulverized rock would get into engines and that would be that. You’d be lucky to get 3 miles away. But I plan to visit there soon again. I’m kind of used to earthquakes and volcanoes so no big deal.

    13. rellik says:

I have lived with SO2 emissions for years. I live within a mile of the ocean and some days I cannot see it, due to crap from a volcano.
You can taste the air. My trees, animals, and garden do just fine in this environment.
I have to buy the most expensive windshield wipers as our rain destroys the cheap ones. Destroys car paint, tools, et al. If Yellowstone blows, it will be historic, but I think the country will survive.

    14. Sgt. Dale says:

What will be will be. There is nothing you can do about it.
      Sgt.

    15. southside says:

Can’t there be some kind of controlled blasting which would release some pressure on the caldera? Maybe we could practice on the San Andres Fault in California?😀

    16. When Yellowstone does erupt, life will change.

The ice in North America will discourage any refugees from setting their sites this far North. The Equator will be prime Real Estate.
