The One Thing You Need To Survive: “Everything Else Is Just Talking and Wishful Thinking”

Editor’s Note: You’ve stocked your pantry. You’ve prepared your supplies and reserves at off-site locations. You’ve developed skills like shooting, food production and trauma care. You have primary, secondary and tertiary plans for evacuating your home or digging in and defending it. For all intents and purposes, you’re ready. At the very least you’re more prepared than 95% of the country. There is no doubt that if you’ve taken steps to prepare for an emergency or disaster ahead of time that your odds of survival have increased significantly.

Then it hits the fan and you implement Plan A. And it hits the fan again and you go to Plan B. But the scenario you face is relentless, hitting you over and over again until your best laid plans and supplies are wiped out.

    Then what?

Real survival in crisis situations isn’t just about storing goods ahead of time. It involves something a lot more personal.

In the following article a real survivor shares his experience. Selco from SHTF School has lived it. When he fought for his life during the Balkan war of the 1990′s, in what he describes as one year in hell, they never saw the collapse of their nation coming. They didn’t have forewarning or the ability to stock up months or years ahead of time.

From one day to the next the world changed.

As Selco explains, having all the gear is certainly an advantage. But it’s not the most important part of making it out alive – nature is brutal and it doesn’t care how hardcore you (think you) are.

Common sense and being able to make quick decisions in the heat of the moment is just as, if not more, critical than all of the preparedness plans you’ve assembled.

The one thing you’ll need to survive when all hell breaks loose is an ability to adapt to an ever-changing, unfamiliar landscape.

Common sense survival. The return of natural selection.

How do you imagine a real survivalist?

Is it a man hidden inside an underground bunker with food for 10 years, completely cut off from outside world? Or is it the guy with the crazy haircut driving a bike on methan, in a full leather outfit with communicaton skills that are not more than screams and some strange gurgling noises, armed with swords from fantasy games and maybe a chainsaw on the back?

Both examples are something like strange fantasies or for some even wishes (“I want to be like that”) that I saw on more than one survival forum, or TV shows.

There is also picture of the big savior – the guy who will do only good stuff, save other folks when SHTF, and survive everything. There is a strange opinion in some people that having a stance like “I’ll do only that when SHTF,” either only good or only bad in terms of pillaging and robbing, will keep them safe. If you look at how things happen in nature, you know the natural way does not always mean a happy ending.

Lots of regular people in today’s society see us prepper and survivalists as weirdos in camouflage suits, conspiracy nuts and similar. Most of them are right, lots of “survivalists” also help in building that image of survivalists. It is hard for some people to just shut up and prep, which is what they should do to keep low profile. But some people make survival so much a part of who they are they want to show off. Their choice.

The point is that there are lot of definitions of survivalists there, and each one of them is as if it is “written in stone.” I think survival is more about how you are as person and not what you expect. Once disaster strikes, you will see tough guys helpless and regular guys become strong forces. True nature shows up.

Several days after the shooting started I arranged with friend that he will pick me up with car so we can go and finish some job. We went to a relative’s apartment to look for useful stuff but everything was looted already. In that time vehicles could still drive, but shootings were everywhere and checkpoints too. So violence within the group of people who were caught up in the city was combined with the shooting and shelling from enemy army.

At this point in time, nobody knew who was shooting who and why, and what groups stand on checkpoints, but people already got killed.

When he came to pick me up I noticed that rear lights on his car were smashed, broken. And inside car he had some kind of steel plates with hooks and wooden bars that you could kinda attach to the inside of the door.

He explained to me that he smashed rear lights when he concluded that people get killed when snipers and machine gunners spot them after they hit the brake in the middle of the night during driving (lights are not used anyway during the drive).

That driving with him was closest thing to the apocalyptic Mad Max version of driving. It was still possible to drive through the street, but it was full of junk, debris, and bodies here and there. He used big lights occasionally when he really needed to see something, but only for sec or two, other than that he was driving in the dark.

On our way back he changed the position of some steel plates inside the car because he expected different directions of possible incoming bullets.

We survived that drive. That dude was not an ex special forces member, or guy that you imagine, some strong tough dude. He was simple family guy, he worked as a postman before everything.

He had no experience with violence, gunfire or anything similar other than dogs barking at him while he delivered mail.

You may say “oh, nothing too smart, it is common sense to not use brake lights and put something between you and flying bullets”, and yes you are right it is common sense, but the point is that you need to know WHEN you need to start to use common sense.

A great number of people got killed because they “waited to see what is gonna happen”, other folks started to use common sense early and survived (at least more of them, because no matter what we do there is always factor X – that you are simply at the wrong place at the wrong time).

Those who can switch fast and let ideas of normal life go increase their chances for survival a lot! Many “fantasy” survivalists will wake up to a big surprise that things are not like they thought. It is true you should understand and know what to expect but even more important is to quickly change your way of life, how you think about security. A flexible thinker survives because they have many options to do things and react if they have to.

Another time the shelling caught us on the inside of one of the apartment buildings, group of some 5-6 of us. Whole floor collapsed around us and on us.

Few seconds later we get on our feet, and find out that one of us is half buried under the rubble, other ones get minor wounds and scratches. We started to dig to uncover the buried guy, after that we realized that he was almost shredded from his thighs down, and his feet were under the piece of concrete wall.

After one try to lift him, we realize that there is no way to do it.

His legs were in so bad shape that while I was trying to do some kind of bleeding control I realize that actually I do not have clue what leg is left and what is right. It was simply all messed up and mixed from thighs down. Under the knees I could see that all was mixture of white and red, pressed and mixed. And he was screaming big time.

Shelling started again, with pretty big chance for all of us to be buried under the walls. I would be a liar if I could say that I did not wanted to leave that dude there stranded, and just get the hell out of there, but somehow I still stupidly was trying to stop bleeding with straps from the shirt.

Then (luckily) one of the guys stepped out and pushed me. Then with a rifle bayonet he simple cut off almost amputated feet from stranded guy who luckily passed out, took him on his back and said “OK, lets go“. After we left the place, it collapsed from shelling. And strangely stranded guy survived everything.

If that dude did not cut his feet off we probably all got killed, or would have just left that man to die there.

Luckily one of us had common sense to do what has to be done in a very quick and efficient way, and he did not have any medical knowledge.

There are many more stories how people got killed in very stupid ways and stories how people who have common sense survived (more of that in my course), but you get my point.

A real survivalist is a man (or woman) who knows what to do in a certain moment. Everything else is just talking and wishful thinking. If you want to increase your chances to survive, then learn to take action quickly. Your knowledge and your skills will help you to make the right decisions and execute actions better.

You can follow Selco’s story at SHTF School and learn how he survived one year in hell.

It occurred to me the other day that the novels dealing with SHTF scenarios have a common result: Nearly everyone who goes to their retreat ends up losing the retreat and having to move again, and maybe several times. I realize they are fictional novels, but this article does raise the possibility of having to keep moving and moving, and it is an article based on a real SHTF situation.

There is a major difference between, surviving a disaster, and living in a world that has changed. Surviving the initial catastrophe takes a great many things most of all can be luck depending on the disaster. But living in a world that has been changed, that takes so much more than just simple preps, digging in, or bugging out. To live in the world takes the ability to overcome and adapt to ANY and ALL situations that could possibly present themselves. You have to be willing to fit into however the world molds itself in the aftermath, while maintaining whatever morals and principles that keeps you sane. Most of all you have to be able to act and or respond anything that would harm yourself or the people that you care about.

American Indians faced the Federal govt and even with most tribes being nomadic and w/ principles, they lost the battle.
For them though, some war plans worked against the govt. Just ask Custer how that military training worked out for him.
We The People must think smarter, faster, and more adaptable.

When you understand the blowback/payback that will arise from the people when the “elite” implement their economic devastation, you will begin to see why the Master Race “elite” are working overtime for our depopulation, not their depopulation.

Understand the implications of worldwide unemployment for the “elite”:

Big time payback—and that is why they are trying to beat us to the punch.

                • Bottom line is guerrilla warfare is the ONLY way to take out a better-supplied enemy. That’s how they did it in 1776 and that’s how the Afghanis have survived.

Of course, this only occurs in a situation where you have a third party supplying you (as we were by the French in 1776; the Russians and China supplied Vietnam; we supplied the Afghanis against Russia; and in turn, the Afghanis are being supplied against us by Iran, Syria, etc.).

If you have a situation like North Korea where the tyrannical government is being supplied by a larger tyrant and you ARE not being supplied by anybody, you are nothing but FUBAR’d.

That is the best response I have read on here! well said

              • BigB says:

I don’t know nor do I know anyone who does know for sure at what given time and place who will show up. I do know that the younger me was tested many times over the course of my life and that I acted swiftly, perhaps not always in the manner that in afterthought was considered the wisest decisions but I did what had to be done.

Problem with experience is not that you have the ability to act as decisively because experience jades your thought process with multiple outcomes. If that makes sense to any of you who have led call it for a lack of words, a robust life.

                • hammerhead says:

BIGB – Makes alot of sense to me , having lived
a very “robust” life myself .
Now if i can find the “younger me” when i need him ,
then i will be fine .

                • Anonymous Patriot says:

Custer was arrogant and didn’t count on the fact that the Sioux would gather more warriors, and know how to draw them into the perfect spot for an ambush. Custer thought his regiment and guns were going to be enough. He was out numbered, and taken off guard. The natives understood the element of surprise and had fought successfully against other native tribes for decades, but their fear of the white man and their guns was deeply implanted into their minds. Crazy horse taught the warriors how to overcome that fear of their skin color and weapons. Another reason why they won that battle.

I took Native American studies in college. So much to be learned from them.

                • Selco’s point is a simple and sharp one:

                  Train your mind.

Train your mind to be flexible, all-observing, and adaptable.

Train your mind and body to react, and learn *how* to react. Learn how to quickly prioritize events as they happen, and act on them.

Dude is entirely correct. I spent a lot of time in the book saying the exact same thing – train the mind first and foremost. No amount of stuff will save you if your mind and body are unable to act in a rational manner.

                • Paranoid says:

Custer was an arrogant pigheaded ass. Who would go off and leave his command to visit his girl friend. He would leave behind his Gattling guns, refuse to believe his Indian scouts, who told him there were thousands of Indans, but still not go look for hmself or send out troops, divided his forces, and generally acted as he had in the War: Like a complete FOOL. He and Fetterman were a pair. As Fetterman said: “Give me 80 good men and I can drive the Indians out of here.” It’s estimated he chased 12-15 Indions over a hill into 800-1200. He and his 83 men all died. If I remember correctly the 1873 officers handbood told officers to remember their men were: Theves, liars, cowards, drunks and completely untrustworthy, but very cleaver so watch them. The officers often weren’t that much better. Lucky for them the Indians were much the same. Your are not the only one who read his history (But not the books the school’s recommended)

              • NC joe says:

You have got to be kidding. Christians are the most self-entitled group n this country. If history is any guide and statements made by the likes of John Haggee, Huckabee and Barton, it is Christians who are the most likely to go after those whom they deem to be heretics. Take off your martyr syndrome glasses and get your head in the real world.

              • Mordecai says:

                @DRD5508
“Really? Older people won’t be able to stay on the move.”

Yeah, really. And a lot of others with physical limitations, medication needs, lack of preparedness, lack of transportation, lack of …, etc. won’t be able to move, or they will be unwilling to move, and they will die as well. So be it. Afterall, some have speculated up to a 90% death rate within a year of certain SHTF situations. You’d better get your big boy pants on or go home. No sense in sugar coating it.

                • Paranoid says:

With tons of stuff; I’m not going anywhere. You want to pry me out of my home there’s going to be a lot higher casualty rate than 90 around here. Yeah I’m old, it took me 50 years to get this much junk.

                • PO'd Patriot says:

Parnoid, absolutely! their gonna have to burn the stump and sift the ashes to find me…….

                • @Paranoid:

I’d rather have the huge mob eventually rummage through the un-hidden stuff, then come back for all my goodies later, than be dead while clutching a jammed weapon in one hand and a half-shredded MRE bag in the other.

There are some situations where you just have to get up and get out.

                • Paranoid says:

ODD Q: I’n not going to run unless it’s to a better spot to shoot from. Sombody has to: “Stand and deliver” I don’t want it to be some young person, best to use up us old farts. The issue is can I get a good escort to Valhalla. If I can take enough with me it’s OK, I spent my life trying to improve things; good way to go. As the man said: ” What you waiting for; Move out; you want to live forever?”

                • Fair enough, but what if what’s coming is a forest fire?

Point is, you should always have a means of getting out of your shelter and remaining alive.

              • Feisty Old Broad says:

The most formidable opponent is one who is without fear in the face of death…these ARE the people who should BE feared….not all us “old folks” are “out to pasture” just yet…
Collectively, we have far more practical knowledge stored in our brains than they will ever be aware of.

              @Mordecai

              Stay away from crowds.

Selco, thanks for your insight based on experiences.

It occurs to me that people write novels about SHTF situations, they speculate on how it will all go down, they make recommendations and give tips on how to prepare based on what they write, heck, they even promote certain geographic areas of the US that everyone should move to and live. They make money from their writings, blogs, appearances at preparedness conferences, and advertisers. In reality they don’t know from experience what will happen. At least Selco can speak from experiences that he and friends had during several months of war and then the years of rebuilding afterwards. Now, unfortunately, things are going bad again.

            • Horse'sass says:

I have been rethinking the commonly held assumption that for most(assuming you don’t live in the big urban areas which is statistically a death sentence)the best strategy is to stay put and avoid being a refugee and all its perils if you don’t have a BOL.

Living in the deep south along the Mississippi in a gun loving, (hunting is the recreational pastime mindset -which has its definite advantages) I have begun to think more like Selco. Things don’t turn out as you plan or envision.

My contrarian consideration is that down south everyone has guns everywhere, and has an over reliance on them to solve any potential problems if a shtf scenario unfolds.

If these gun lovers find that they have not adequately diversified their preps into other areas like food and water, they may be more “inclined” to go to the dark side and take what they need at gun point, even if shots are exchanged.

Thus, my interest in having more mobility. For the sake of argument, assume you have a 4 wheel drive truck and a trailer full of supplies that you can take with you on short notice so that you are not on foot with very little supplies, and that you have enough gasoline on board for 1,000 miles without refueling, and take back roads, etc

What happens if you encounter a sudden road block, perhaps a deliberately fallen tree across the road, or a pile of rocks? In the same way a waiting ambush team can’t stay around 24/7, or might try to create roadblocks in one area to divert traffic to a kill and loot zone, one option may be to try to go off road and around the obstruction, the other may simply be to turn around and try an alternate route, which may lead you into a trap as well.

It boils down to what should you take with you in this to deal with this possible event? My thinking so far is to have 1.)a chain saw (but the problem is the noise will alert those who have set the trap), but more importantly a large 2 hand saw and some pry bars- which would be no doubt more energy intensive, but quieter, and saving in gas and extra driving.

2.) a winch to your truck to pull you out and the trailer if they get stuck in the event you have to go off road.

What else? Chains/cables? a few planks of wood? Log pics?

              • Smokey says:

The folks who put the tree or rockpile in the road are going to put it where you can’t just drive around it and keep on your merry way.

An act of nature, you can get out and clear it.

A trap is a trap. Plan on reconnoitering ahead of you.

As far as serious cross-country driving, you will need :

Two sets of chains for your 4WD
A power winch and plenty of cable
                A quality hand winch/come-along
Some sand and gravel for traction
For deep sand or mud, some rolled carpet strips about 2 feet wide
Two spade shovels, and one flat shovel
Pulley blocks and logging chains, two each
                Chain saw
                Axe and small cross-cut saw
                Two spare tires on rims.

a PAIR of tow straps(heavy duty), and a way to attach them to the vehicle towing YOU out, or to a vehicle YOU TOW out…you MIGHT be convoying to have more security. i cleared a local road in the mountains after a foot of snow a year ago with my jeep, no winch. probly at least 10 trees had fallen on the mountain fire-road because of the snow loaded them down and made them fall across the road. some of them i had to use 2 straps to get to them in a way i could drag them off. the very last one i encountered another member of my 4×4 club coming from the other direction and we worked together to get the last and hardest tree off. on the way home on pavement i encountered a car(late-model) on a hill. i stopped to help her, but had nothing to connect her car to a tow strap. jeeps/trucks carrying tow straps are made for heavy duty stuff and all it would have taken was a small piece of chain, but i didn’t have one, so she got left(help wasn’t tooo far away.)

yes, a trap is a trap, but they MAY not be too serious, so if you had a couple flak jackets around you, it might get you through SOME of those “traps”…they can be had for 50 to 150 dollars(sometimes even LESS), and they will be PRICELESS!(possibly MORE expensive) when the shooting starts. a flak jacket in a backpack can be used as a shield, to place in the direction you might expect fire from(carried with you while OUT of the vehicle too). and don’t forget a couple 4×6′s or 6×8′s about 3 to 5 feet long for crossing obstacles…of course they won’t do you any good if you’ve never practiced with them…you’ld be surprised what you can get through with a 2wheel drive with the right equipment, and a little practice! a machete would be a good idea too…only 10 bucks or so for the peeps with limited money. and don’t rely on the JACK in the TRUNK!

It’s never gonna make it to a hollywood blockbustershtf movie but I’m convinced everyone who can should aim to be able to slip away quickly if needed on with a tent and bicycle.

A pushbike is silent and can go where motor vehicles can’t. A small bivvy or pop up tent inside an abandoned building will give you some protection from the worst weather extremes. Add a straw filter and a means of boiling water and some common sense and most on here would figure out a way to live another day.

I do worry sometimes that for many preppers, their addiction to “stuff” will get them killed. There is no point sitting on a 10 year supply of supplies if you aren’t alive to use it. Much better to help your loved ones slip away quietly and then figure out how to reclaim your turf on another day if a flash mob hits your home.

Right now in the UK we have pretty extensive flooding in parts of the country where the lunatics have not yet taken over the asylum. It’s such a shame to see lively hoods, homes etc destroyed. Yet the death/injury toll has not been as high as it could have been thanks to that now out of fashion human quality – common sense. Check out the BBC website if you are interested. One city is now declared “closed”. I’m hoping Birt the Brit is not in one of the affected areas.

Sgt… Generally I drink whatever I have on hand but mostly wine or a couple ice cold beers. I’m not much on pairing so I will probably throw down some cheap Carlo Rossi Cabernet or Chianti unless the daughter brings over some Irish ale. It doesn’t taste too bad if it’s cold and besides their ring handled glass gallon jugs are great for all kinds of stuff including bartering. I drink Carlo Rossi for the jugs, not for the wine. The wine is an afterthought. The jugs are great for storing used motor oil, kerosene, Clorox, water etc.. Also good for making small amounts of home brew or even to rack off a six gallon carboy into smaller jugs. The subsequent rackings are easier to work with than trying to manhandle a heavy full six gallon glass carboy on a small counter top. They fit the water distiller perfect. It’s almost as though Carlo Rossi designed their ring handled gallon jugs with all of this in mind.

This is what it is all about, just increasing your likelihood of making it through whatever that knows society down to its knees. This is why the more you are ready to better off you will be WHEN SHTF. Expectations can be high to survive anything, but those that have prepared will fare magnitudes better than those that have not. :)

            • So, you’re saying, simply, that there will still be laws, just different laws. Instead of Color of Law, there will be Newton’s Laws (as they apply to accelleration, decelleration, impact, expansion, etc).

              Right?

No, really, its just different laws. The thing is, instead of the fake Color Of Laws (that are, in effect “sayso” laws…) real law will be in effect.

I think I like real law and I will get along with it and the world it is practiced in, well. Its the current world I can’t seem to function so well. Guess what? I’ll be just as dirty and just as poor looking as the rest of them. I consider that sort of thing “Resource Enhancement Operations” or REOPS. If they’re giving out free cheese, go get it. Just beware of the trip pan. Don’t be thinking its just all fun and games but don’t think they won’t be watching, they being TPTW and your neighbors. “Hey! How come we never see the Rangers at the cheese parties?” They’ll know. Better show up or they’ll know you got food and when it all boils down to it, they’ll want some of it.

They’ll use terms like “hoarder” or that you knew this was going to happen and, therefore, you helped cause it, blah, blah, blah. Won’t matter if its true, just if it could be true. They will use anything to justify the taking of your food and water.

REOPS is not just REOPS, its part OPSEC.

Free water, MREs, personal hygiene supplies, money, rent fees, etc., etc. Just because you saved and prepped and planned for just such contingencies does not mean you reject the generosity of others, especially when there are no strings attached and your outlook is dire and there is no assurance that conditions will improve anytime soon. I have a feeling there will be some who will thumb me down, but, this is the reality. In a shtf situation you have to constantly be thinking about “REOp” and keep your options viable and open. The citizens of a particular nation are often the LAST to hear about it when that boulder starts rolling down the hill.

Most official news outlets are just propaganda machines. This all kicked off before the exponential rise of alternative news sites and social media.

To stay safe in the West monitor Al jazera, Russia Today and the alt news sites such as those provided in the links column on this site. If you use social media tune into more than the kardashian channel. Monitor the movements of the chief execs of your local big corporates – if several suddenly decide to “retire” then it’s time to step up your game. Monitor the accident and heart attack rates of your state’s big wigs. By the time dissidents and intellectuals start disappearing you’ve left it too late.

Moshe A. (Abraham) Publicstein: You’re problem is that you can’t process complex issues, so you over simplify them so that your weak little mind can understand them. Just because someone’s name is Jewish doesn’t mean that they are practicing Jews or even 100% Jewish. Like most folks here in America there’s so much mixing that no one is 100% anything. And just because someone who runs a large corporation has a Jewish name certainly doesn’t mean that he has total control of that organization. He has a board of directors and stockholders to answer to as well as the public, most of which are NOT Jewish. Then there are those that also work at these companies, again, most of who are not Jewish. So by the standards of that paranoid mind of yours, then each of these Jewish CEOs is some sort of Svengali, or that the all the non-Jews associated with them are just part of a vast conspiracy. I can hardly wait to see which one you choose, perhaps a mix of both. But hey, feel free to make up whatever delusion you like. Since I’ve just destroyed your little fantasy with logic, you’ll no doubt rant in some sort of denial and twist things around so that they are properly oriented to steady that diseased little brain of yours. I think what you meant is that Spain as we know it today is a lot like Great Britain. Catalonia and the Basque country could be Scotland and Wales. It has always had cracks. Just papered over by force.

True that Spain was over-run by Muslims, but the last battles to get rid of them were in what, the 1200s? It has been a Christian nation for 800 years now. OK, Andalusia never got over being Muslim. Andalusian Christians were as rapacious as Muslims, having forgotten their Christian tradition of charity over several hundred years of occupation.

Since you mention Spain, Old Coach, in Michael Hoffman’s latest newsletter there is an excellent review of the alliance between the Moors and you know who in Spain AGAINST the Christians. That said, the main focus of the article is an exposé of their deception to conceal their virulent hatred of Jesus Christ and His People. As usual, they are damned by their own admissions.

                  The Rabbinic Curse on Christians

Denied for centuries, this bigoted curse from the misnamed “Amidah blessings” is documented by Michael Hoffman using the forensic methods of exhaustive research and detailed documentation which are a hallmark of his revisionist pursuit of truth wherever it may lead. Revisionist History newsletter no. 70 explores Talmudism’s hateful, ritual curse on Christians, which has echoed perpetually down the corridors of time since at least the days of Rabbi Gamliel, and continues in our time. Citing the Babylonian Talmud, cognate sacred rabbinic texts and the heretofore clandestine statements of the rabbis themselves, Hoffman offers incontrovertible evidence of the eternal hostility which Talmudism harbors for western civilization, which it ritually curses as malkhut zadon (the “empire of insolence”). Also included in this issue is a survey of the secret and ancient alliance between Judaism and Islam. The American Right imagines that Judaism is united to the West culturally and has good will toward the U.S. in particular. The truth of the matter is very different, as revisionist historian Hoffman demonstrates with his usual exactitude. Also in this issue: Black Journalist Exposes Anti-White Hollywood Movie “12 Years a Slave.”

P.S. You were only off by nearly 3 centuries, Old Coach. [laughing]

The Moors and their Jewish allies were finally driven from Granada in 1492 A.D., the same year that you know who were expelled from Spain, their Moorish alliance and their ritual murders of the Holy Child of LaGuardia and another at Saragosa.

From the indictment of one of the murderers:

“This Juce Franco personally took part, together with other Jews and with [Marranos], in the crucifixion –at night and in a secret cave– of an innocent Christian boy. They stretched out his arms and legs on two boards arranged in the form of a Cross. Then they flogged him, spat on him, beat him, tore out the pieces of his flesh, and put a crown of thorns on his head. This Juce Franco, with his own hands seized the bleeding boy by the arm, cut open his side with a knife, and took out his heart. Then he beat him and tore his flesh in memory and vituperation of the Sacred Passion of Jesus Christ our Redeemer, uttering curses and insults on the Person of Christ as though He were actually on the Cross. …And after the child had been tortured and crucified by this Juce Franco and the others, they killed him, took him down from the Cross, and took him away and secretly buried him that same night where no one could find him. Some days later this Jew, Juce Franco, and all his other accomplices in this crime, met together secretly in the same cave, where they performed certain conjuring and experiments in witchcraft with the heart of the dead boy and a consecrated Communion wafer. They performed these conjurings with the perverted and diabolical intention of making the Inquisitors against heretical depravity together with all other Christians go mad and die of madness, and of subverting, and destroying and killing the Holy Faith of Jesus.”

Learn to assess, adapt and react. Know when to attack and especially when to retreat (which is most of the time) in survival situations. Learn to disengage your conscience as one person told me, “fair” is just a carnival in survival circumstances. That is how you survive! One of my wilderness survival instructors (in my youth) used to tell me “if you fail you die, if you succeed you get to survive today but, it only gives you more chances to fail tomorrow”. So you can never let your guard down ever in survival situations.

    5. Selco will tell you, stay out of cities.

      • Cities breed normalcy bias and cognitive dissonance. Those two things are like a squelch for your common sense survival insticts. Nature keeps raising the volume but you can’t hear anything. Then, once the squelch pops open, out comes a huge mount of sound and everybody panics.

Cities breed “there is safety in numbers”. We’ve been told it all our lives, but, the numbers in the cities cannot be trusted. I wish I was farther from the cities, but, I’m reasonably well protected. Cities are concentrated resource drains and the flow comes from outside. The NB and CD keep the flow going but when they break down, the flow stops. The food stops. The gas stops. The electricity tops. Then, the civility stops and all hell breaks loose. 3 days or 3 months, it doesn’t matter. Have a place you can retreat to nomatter what.

    6. Jonny V says:

Yep, good old common fucking sense, that’s the most crucial thing you need to ensure survival for you and yours… I guess that means that there’s gonna be one hell of a die-off because there ain’t many cocksuckers left here or anywhere else with even a lick of fuckin sense in their heads….

      • Katrina is a glaring example, the storm churned off shore for a week and still the idiots didn’t buy any water and was crying b/c Big Brother wasn’t coming with the Calvary fast enough. Instead, big bro seen the whole thing as a opportunity for target practice.

        • laeagle says:

.O2, I was there, right in the middle of it. Most of us thought that the disruption would last for only a couple of days and life would resume like it was before. I watched and took pictures as the storm sideswiped the city. The next evening, we had a most beautiful sunset. Yes, there was some water left behind as a result of the storm and there was not electricity or running water, and for the most part, the city had been evacuated, but it was not until the night after the storm hit that we realized something had happened to damage the levies and water was pouring in and rising more than an inch an hour. It caught all of us off guard! For goodness sakes, we still had patients in the hospitals and in the ICUs.

Hindsight is 20/20. Stored food and water would have done most people no good. People needed to evacuate. We have close to 2 million people in the greater New Orelans area including the Northshore and Westbank. It was a miracle that more people did not die. Our people are familiar with hurricanes and have lived with hurricanes and I must admit that some of us did feel like veterans of such drills, they say “familiarity breeds contempt”. Well, the unexpected and unplanned happened. My family evacuated with 2-3 days of clothes and supplies but didn’t get back home until 4 months later. Like Selco said, “A real survivalist is a man (or woman) who knows what to do in a certain moment. Everything else is just talking and wishful thinking. If you want to increase your chances to survive, then learn to take action quickly. Your knowledge and your skills will help you to make the right decisions and execute actions better.”

Having endured the long slow evacuation traffic out of New Orleans the year before(there are few roads coming in and leaving New Orleans), I called my wife from work to stop doing what she was doing (she was buying school uniforms) and go home immediately and pack up and evacuate immediately. Within two hours she was on the road and was able to avoid the traffic jams and slow traffic. They made it to their BOL and I stayed behind. Folks, when the time comes, there may not be that much time to get your stuff and family together and evacuate in an orderly fashion. You will need to think and act quickly and adjust your plans as the conditions change and the situation demands.

We certainly got our share of criticism and perhaps we deserved it, but, no one anticipated or could anticipate what finally happened. Many survived thanks to American ingenuity, tenacity, and the generosity of our neighbors, friends and family and the American people and the American government. Once the extent of the damage was realized help was organized in an orderly fashion and extended to all who needed help. We will always live with harrowing stories and there is no doubt that atleast for this generation the experience changed our lives and our way of thinking. We continue to live surrounded by water and below sea-level, but hell, this is our home, and we are proud of it. You all come and visit us and “Let the good times roll” once again!

WNCMB: Actually I consider myself a mountainboy and fell in love with the mountains in Eastern TN and Northwestern NC. I have many happy memories of times hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, fall-sliding, rafting, tubing, skiing, and swimming in that area. You are lucky to be living there and Lord willing, I would love to get back there.

People live in many places in this world of ours for various and multitude of reasons. As can be seen from all the natural and manmade calamities that have befallen us during the past 10-15 years, I have come to the conclusion that there really are not that many places on this earth that are completely safe. Most places are vulnerable to one or the other of the following, including: Droughts, desertification, Earthquakes, Tsunamies, Flooding, Hurricanes, Tornados, Storms, Blizzards, Asteroids, Fires, Valcanoes, Wars, wild animals, poisonous plants, animals, critters, and geological anomalies/radiation/gas, Landslides, Diseases, Epidemics, Pandemics, Pestilences, to name a few.

In other words there are very few ideal locations left in this world. With the recent cold snap, many of us living in the south wonder how in the world people can stand living up north! The wonderful thing is that humans adapt and find ways to carve out a niche to live and raise families even in some of the most harsh physical conditions.

Lousiana is truly blessed with some wonderful natural resources, climate, and food sources. The Acadians who settled down here were a hardy bunch but they discovered a sanctuary by learning to understand and adapt to the conditions and available resources down here. Personally, I would call this area the South-central Redoubt. It is not called a “Sportsman’s Paradise” for nothing. The area is strategically located and with a little planning and forethought life can be quite secure and comfortable. We do need to respect mother-nature and build and live accordingly.

Interestingly, the ‘idiotic French’ built their city on relatively ‘high-ground’ and during Katrina the ‘sinful’ French Quarters and Bourbon Street were one of the few places not flooded! Isn’t that ironic?

Thanks for your comments! Come visit us sometime. But, I must admit that I do miss them thar hills you live in Mountain Boy!

I still laugh at their stupidity. all at the same time they were crying, “Where’s the government?”

          • laeagle says:

BH, desperate people do desperate things, in desperate conditions. Looting and pillaging after a crisis or catastrophe is not so uncommon. Some may even think of it as scavanging. The line is not always clear regarding what is right and what is wrong especially in a SHTF situation. When there is no law, the lawless feel free. They feel free to do what ever they want. Of course, not without risks. I wonder, how many of us would pick up guns, food, and ammunition that didn’t belong to us in such a situation. Definitely a question for Selco, he will know.

            • The line is not always clear regarding what is right and what is wrong especially in a SHTF situation.

I have to call bullshit on this one. If they were maybe looting pampers, baby formula and water that is one thing, but taking material possessions for “later” when the power is back on is pure ass thievery and the bastards should be shot.

Perhaps the flat screen can be used as a bartering item for something really essential to your survival. Your list of prepping supplies may make the difference between life and death. During Katrina, there were incidences where folks went out with what they called a Mississippi credit card (hose) and gas tank to siphon gas out of the abandoned cars to run the small generators. Many tools have to be improvised in dire situations like the aftermath of Katrina. Thanks for pointing this out!

              • .02, I agree, however, why would you shoot someone for stealing a (at that point) worthless TV?

You would not. You’d save your ammo to take care of those that would try to steal your food.

Let the morons have their TVs. They’ll starve while they wait for the power to come back on. You won’t have to shoot them because those types always eliminate themselves first. The only reason they are around today is because the giverment keeps them alive by feeding and caring for form.

If you have the ammo, you should have; shooting the guy stealing the TV is a good idea. if you can get away with it. In a SHTF condition he’s going to have to be removed from the Gene pool, before he starts getting to be a problem, and he will get worse, not better.

        • John Stiner says:

I think a lot of people don’t realize they are in a crisis until it is too late. They fail to see the gravity of the situation.
I am an insurance adjuster and I did Katrina claims. In Chalmette LA just outside of New Orleans I adjusted several houses in a two street neighborhood. All nice houses. About every other house was a 2 story house. There were 48 dead people out of about 100 houses. Basically everybody that lived in a single story house died, but the ones in a 2 story house lived. The storm surge went from zero to 10 feet in less than 5 minutes.

The people did not realize that they could die. The were totally caught off guard and could not even flee to their neighbors house for protection.

Before you can respond to a crisis you have to realize there is a crisis approaching or in progress. Most people will never see it coming.

          • Merree says:

I have gone to some disaster planning meetings where there were accounts from the medical staff at the hospitals in New Orleans. The hospitals didn’t anticipate the flooding but they did have some disaster planning prior to the event. One nurse reported that having a security team was very valuable because it kept the looters out of the hospital.

Another thing that struck me- many of the people who died were over sixty. They had been through previous hurricanes in their homes and they were confident they could survive. In some cases, they wanted to stay to protect their homes from looters.

One sad image was a woman who found her elderly father dead in his attic, clutching a baseball bat and a Bible. She thinks he died from the extreme heat after the flooding because he had a heart condition. He had refused to evacuate so he could protect his home. I think this might be an important lesson for survival.

            • laeagle says:

Merree, There was no rain or cloud cover the day after Katrina passed through and it was miserably hot. I could see how the old man died of heatstroke and dehydration. It is understandable that one would want to protect their home and property and you use whatever you have to do so, even a baseball bat if it comes to that.

Most of us were thinking we had been spared a direct hit the day of Katrina since the storm pivotted to the east just south of us. The shock came two days later when we were getting inundated with flood waters. The situation in Chalmette and the lower ninth ward was dire once the hurricane hit.

Like Selco says, “Those who can switch fast and let their ideas of normal life go increase their chances of survival a lot.”, we have to be willing to adapt to new situations and circumstances and even abandon property and possessions if the situation becomes untenable or life threatening.

Scary when you think of the collective centuries of “higher education” the designers possess. If these are the best and brightest, USA is doomed.

              • No only that, Si Thead, a pile of dirt “build by government employees”.

Boy there sure seems to be alot of liberal types here makeing all types of excuses for african monkys who Loot at every chance, crises or not!

I learned from 43 yrs life in Detroit, ground Zero for ruthless jungle minded african rioters and looters.

That whenever blacks riot or loot and Burn down their neighboorhoods it is due to their mindset that by doing such the blacks are sticking it To the Man!

To the White man!…Its all about “We gonna show dem whiteys Now aint we!”.

Vast differences exist based on race and related issues.

Sorry to burst any bubble fantasy’s but we are NOT all the same except for “color”…Yeah we are all the same when its about various human rights etc…But…Thats…where it Ends for equalities.

Compare ANY BRN (black run nation) like Hati or africa to any whitey run nation and nobody can dispute a vast difference.

Makeing so many excuses for every wrong action done by blacks just enables them to never change for the better.

Nobody has had more opertunities the past 50 yrs than blacks has had. After 40+ yrs of liberals attempting to Boost Up blacks to be as intelligent etc as whiteys are, and Failing in every area…Do libs finally Admit to failures?…NO!…Libs instead adopt a New tactic!

NEW Lib Tactic= Since negroes as a whole cannot be equalized UP with whiteys…Lets just reverse our lib plans and take whites Down. Very Far down untill blacks & whites are equally down and dumb.

Newsflash! NOTHING in entire universe was ever created “Equal”…Even every snow flake is “different”…NO animals or birds are equal.

And NO two humans are equal in ways libs try to equalize everything.

After 50 yrs of black run major cities, and the fuckin huge Mess that caused…How in the world can anybody still make excuses for blacks wrong behaviours?

And if blacks cannot Learn civility and how to act like white folks after several Hundred years of life in white nations?…..Maybe abe lincolns orig plans to send em all Back to africa is what Libs need attempt Next eh…

If theres simply zero differences and nothing wrong with blacks generally?…Why has africa and hati etc not yet been made equal to white western nations in general?

I just do Not understand why it so bothers some folks to admit that some races Are inferior to other races in most general ways etc…

Yes there are exceptions as there always are…But That wont change reality that what I stated is correct like it or not…I wonder How many lib types who keep makeing excuses for blacks regardless what wrongs blacks does, has ever said “gee I sure wish I could switch to be a black instead of a white man or women?”

            NONE I’d wager!…Why Is that?

              Well said.

Worked with the ghetto mindset for 12 years and 3 months at ‘de red cross.’ I felt like I was back in the early 60′s. The poor, oppressed, downtrodden blacks I worked with had a chip on their shoulders and made it rough for the ‘whities.’ Of course, all it showed was their – ‘ Ignorance, Stupidity, Reverse Racism, Self-Centerness, and childishness.’ Management, who were primarily black, ignored it, encouraged it, or looked the other way.

I remember a white donor being totally ignored by the all black staff, (except for me, as I was the whitey)
The blacks all sat around the black supervisor table laughing and screaming, and talking their ‘ebonics.’
The guy was an older man but sat and finished his canteen refreshments.

When Mikey Jackson the pedophile died, you’d have thought Jesus Christ died a 2nd time.

I threw in the towel and quit, using my 4 yr. college degree, cum laude, in another way. I thought I was helping people, and maybe I helped a few here and there, but the work environment was Hostile and Terribly Mismanaged. Fubar.
They are always crying for blood and money.
I can see why. Go to a blood drive and watch the circus.
Its laughable. They’ll be a-hurting when synthetic blood keeps on being developed. The FDA has a field day
fining the red cross Millions and Millions of dollars.
Of course, they have a special slush fund, just throw the millions at the FDA and keep on screwing up.

To this day, I cannot watch any black that is on the t.v. except the weather channel. I don’t watch that much t.v. anymore, anyways, I am mainly on the computer.

It is a Whole Different Culture, A Whole Different Mind Set, and A Whole Way of Behavior. It will Never, Ever, Ever Change. Even when they are educated. They still have that residual ‘I hate whitey’ attitude.
I have seen it, been around it, and saturated in it.

Its been a joy and refreshing to not be around ‘them.’
And I never will be again.
              Am I prejudice? You betcha.

Wheres dat ‘Knock – Out Game?’ Gotta kill me another whitey.

For me, the black man or woman is just as much my brother or sister as the white man or woman. There are levels and differences in IQ among all races, and it is quite possible yours are higher than mine but that does not make me less human or of less worth than you. I know a little Black boy from the “hood” who has an IQ that is at the highest level. At age 11 he has been admitted to Rice University and to MIT with full scolarships! Actually it was little bro who turned down all offers of help before the storm hit. Assets were in place including a Navy LHD big deck but both the governor and the mayor refused to take any action. Had Bush moved on his own then the racism charge would be thrown around. Remember all the school buses that could have been used to get people out but Nagin did not use them because they were not good enough and instead left them to get flooded out and ruined.

          • Merree says:

I think the mayor of New Orleans had a meltdown and failed to bring in many of the resources that were available. I think he was like many politicians- able to maneuver and manipulate to get into a political position but no real common sense and no ability to deal with something out of the ordinary.

I had been through some disaster training and they told us about medical and relief pods that are available. Here in Kansas, they supposedly can be delivered anywhere in the state within 24 hours after a disaster, like a major tornado. But the governor has to order the National Guard or the military to send the pods to the location. I know other states have these too and they are also able to send the pods to assist other states. I think my family got tired of me saying, “why is no one sending the disaster assistance pods to New Orleans?” while I watched the news of the disaster. But they only get sent in if the people at the top allow it.

            • eppe says:

              Merree,
I worked at a company called Cox Communications, where Nagin was the head of the cable side there in LA. He was an idiot then too. He had zero common sense, and showed it often. Not being racist, but common sense means a lot in the corporate world, but they promote those to the upper echelon by being a “YES” man whether or not they deserved it, and it showed as being mayor of New Orleans, dammit we should have picked our own cotton….

              • 1braveheart says:

Eppe, I say the only way Nagin got anywhere was affirmative action. As a black male he’s entitled to special treatment under federal law.

              • Merree says:

I agree. A very long time ago, I worked with a black man and he was having an affair with another employee. He turned the company’s petty cash fund over to her for her personal use. The company ignored all of that. Instead he was held up as a great asset and received many awards. When I pointed out a number of very serious criminal behaviors, he was quietly let go. Then he pops up soon after as the mayor of a town in a nearby state.
In both cases, he was able to use the race issue to win political favor.

On the other hand, I have some other friends who are black and are very upstanding citizens. They work to get ahead on their own merits and they struggle to succeed. I have a lot of respect for their integrity. They are sort of “anti-politicians”.

    11. JayJay says:

Well, Indiana has taken action to “recognize the unique character of a citizen’s home and to ensure that a citizen feels secure in his or her own home against unlawful intrusion by another individual or a public servant.”

This special amendment is no revolutionary new thought, only common sense.
      The law states:
      (i) A person is justified in using reasonable force against a public servant if the person reasonably believes the force is necessary to:
      (1) protect the person or a third person from what the person reasonably believes to be the imminent use of unlawful force;
      (2) prevent or terminate the public servant’s unlawful entry of or attack on the person’s dwelling, curtilage, or occupied motor vehicle; or
      (3) prevent or terminate the public servant’s unlawful trespass on or criminal interference with property lawfully in the person’s possession, lawfully in possession of a member of the person’s immediate family, or belonging to a person whose property the person has authority to protect.

It is through legislation such as this, which will empower people again and aid in bringing down these tyrants from their pedestals, who are given free rein to murder and pillage without consequence.
      Emphasis is mine.

The phrase “reasonably believes” is the one that is going to get you in jail for a long time.

When the deputy comes up to your car and you start thinking about blue helmets and FEMA camps, you are beyond the intent of the law and are going to be put away for it. A jury is not going to agree those are reasonable beliefs held by a prudent individual.

The 4th Amendment is the key, and the courts are the defense.

I’ve thought for a long time that parents could only distinguish between the words “education” and “indoctrination” all those not competing for a Darwin Award would haul their kids out of government run schools.

I’m terrible at maths, so for fun I’m working through 7th and 8th grade of “Rays Arithmetic” again. (I homeschool so need to be on top of the basics to help my kid). Compared to the maths kids do today at 18 it’s embarrassing to see how low we’ve sunk.

There are a LOT of grandparents out there old enough to have witnessed the deterioration in standards that should to work teaching the grand kids before it is too late. Retirement is a new concept for mankind and frankly those elders that think they have no purpose but to wallow in leisure while their grandchildren are dumbed down to complete imbecility are leaving no legacy worth anything at all.

But since you’re notion of military service is plopping your fat little ass in your mom’s basement playing “Call To Duty” and other such games, you don’t qualify. Only real men and women get the G.I. Many in America will curl up and die instead of dealing with it.

A fair amount of family or friends who show up on your doorstep won’t work with you in defense or starting/ramping up self sufficiency. They will insist that things will be back to normal in a few months.

Mental attitude IS the biggest survival factor.

The New America with modern techniques and technology will be a good place to grow and thrive.

        • Canadian Vet says:

What I’m getting out of this article is three major points.

          1) Don’t fall in love with your established plans. You might have planned several contingencies for everything under the sun, but as the saying goes even the best laid plan never survives the start line. So you have to be able to go off-script and be ready to improvise.

          2) learn to think outside the box. If you can’t think around corners and/or find ways to fit square pegs in round holes, you are at a serious handicap. The world has a tendency to throw curve balls and there’s no way to see them all coming, and a lot of them will fall in these spaces between the lines of conventional thinking.

          3) no matter how good you think you are, there are times when you will lose your shit, even under fairly benign conditions. Learn to recognize the signs leading up to it and develop quick and effective techniques to ground yourself so you can get your head back in the game before you completely freak out and/or make the kind of mistake that gets people, including yourself, hurt or killed.

        • “Be careful Sarge…there are guys “out there”…who think like that dude!”

Indeed – and such people will end up dead in about a week, maybe two.

He might get lucky, but I’m willing to wager at least half my preps that in a true SHTF situation, you won’t find some lone deputy sitting there in the open, next to an unlocked patrol car, just doing paperwork. Ain’t gonna happen. That kid will starve before he stumbles across such a dubious opportunity.

Odds are perfect that LEOs will have themselves locked-down tight once things get SHTF-ugly, and will either be defending their families, or at least in small squads, with weapons out and looking for an overly-confident jackass like that to do something stupid.

          • Sgt. Dale says:

            O Q
You are right with your last paragraph.
When TSHTF. There won’t be any LEO”S there will only be LEO”S protecting their families. Yes there will be groups of LEO’S in bands working together for the common good of their group.
In our group there are 7 LEO’S or retired LEO’s in it. They also have other skills need for the group.
Some times I think people have the idea that WTSHTF that the LEO’S are still going to work while the rest of the world is in chaos. NOT I’m going to be at home with the group protecting it, and doing other work that needs to be done.
            Thanks again for the concern!

    16. Maudy Frickett says:

You gotta have your mind right, trainee. Adapt or die. I’ve lived in Africa during a war, I grew up in the inner city of Chicago. I knew people who lived thru Beirut. I sometimes envy people who lived in small town USA among a homogenous demographic. And at other times, I wouldn’t trade my life experiences for anything.

    17. Walt Kowalski says:

While it is certainly true that the ill-prepared and stupid will definitely have a quick demise, it should be understood that a lot also depends on just the luck of the draw.

There will be many folks who have done all they could to prepare…they’re intelligent…and make all the right decisions….but if a bullet has your name on it..or they are in the wrong place at the wrong time…it’s over.

This is not to discount preparation and doing all you can, because luck does indeed favor the prepared mind.

What a stable, civilized society does is allow the stupid and ill prepared to continue to live in relative ease, security and comfort. Those are the things that get stripped away in a SHTF situation. So in most cases…the ill-prepared and stupid will go quickly. But even for those who are the best prepared…in every way…their odds of surviving another day are greatly diminished.

That’s just the way I see it.

      • Way more people will die of disease than bullets. Probably 10 to 1 is my guess if there is a power failure. Straight up war, different numbers.

Dont forget that starvation thingy. That’ll kill quite a few also, all be it in a week or two.

          • Merree says:

Most people won’t die of starvation in a week or two. For example 100 pounds of fat at 3500 calories per pound equals 350,000 calories. Minimal daily calories for survival (just an estimate since this varies with gender and activity level) approximately 1500 calories. 350,000 divided by 1500 equals estimated 233 day survival. This is a seven to eight month survival assuming no food intake at all. Lots of time for them to get angry and take it out on others. Of course, if they can’t get water, the time frame would be drastically shortened.

            • Paranoid says:

Correct, I went 14 days without food once, no big deal. But people that have no preps have no water either. The first time they drink out of a roadside ditch they will have dysentery and that’s that.

            • You’re right and wrong at the same time :)

              I’ll explain:

The longest anyone could reasonably hope to last before dying of starvation (with zero calorie intake) is around 45-50 days, no matter how big you are. If you’re 100 lbs overweight, that would put you at least around 250 lbs or so for a guy, and around 225 for a woman (assuming average heights). Anything beyond that is flat-out obesity, which means limited mobility, limited stamina, and an exponentially higher risk of cardiac arrest or stroke from stress and over-exertion.

As an educated WAG (Wild-Assed Guess), a typical SHTF situation will have most folks dying of starvation within about 6 months – if disease, violence, exposure, or dehydration don’t wipe them out first.

      * something most of you wont be prepared for is the smell of death and the swollen blackened bodies littering the streets .

some of you will have to kill another human being to survive , maybe even a cop or soldier .

are you mentally prepared to be exposed to / do such things to survive ???

if not you might want to read up on the morality of war and psychological impact of killing .

      so your mentally prepared …

      ;0p

      • Canadian Vet says:

You can’t really prepare for the realities of violence. I’ve read Col. Grossman’s books cover to cover repeatedly, did some stress inoculation, been on all sorts of exercises and I still initially lost my shit first time I came under indirect fire in KAF. Took me a few moments to remember what I was supposed to do and and get my ass in gear.

Oh, and I’ve never fired a shot in anger, although I’ve gotten close a few times. And every time, I was praying to every deity out there not to have to pull that trigger.

Basically what I’m saying is that even those who’ve been there done that could have an issue with combat and killing bit have a leg up on those who haven’t been. Granted, there will always be those who can naturally deal with it in healthy ways and the psychos who either don’t care or even enjoy it, but as a rule of thumb, there are no real ways to be ready for that shit.

      • Canadian Vet says:

To add to my last, one should prepare themselves for post-traumatic stress. Again, I don’t care how tough you think you are but only a complete psych/sociopath wouldn’t be affected by the horrors SHTF has in store.

I know mental health isn’t a popular topic but be aware, you will have nightmares, flashbacks, cold sweats, become ineffective, curl up into a ball crying for your mother. You and yours MUST be able to tell something is wrong with you and be there to help as much as they can. Otherwise, your survival will become severely compromised.

        • durango kidd says:

Prayer, meditation, a healthy diet, sunshine, exercise, and a close personal relationship with your Creator will keep the demons away.

Go within. For you evolutionists and atheists, find the amoeba within. :-)

          • Canadian Vet says:

There are absolutely no guarantees when it comes to preventing that crap. However, faith has been known to help with dealing with the aftermath.

And from personal experience, there is no such thing as an atheist in a war zone.

However, one should assume they will lose their shit and feel the full brunt of post-traumatic stress. If they don’t, bonus. But if you are prepared for it you will deal with it better than if you play the macho card and think it only affects sissies and you are too awesome to be affected by these horrors.

            • durango kidd says:

Been there. Didn’t do that. You need a mind set that can release past events rather than dwelling upon them. In my case, a young lifetime of sports playing ball every day, picking up teams, winning or losing, starting over, picking new teams, winning or losing, etc, etc, etc.

This is the mindset of athletes who move from play to play and do not dwell on the fumble, the bad throw, the dropped ball, or the strike out. They just focus on the task ahead and shake it off, intent upon winning the game.

That mindset can be applied to events and experiences in war. Like anything in life, you can be a victim or you can move from victory to victory to victory ….. however long it takes. Determination, resolve, and application always win and strengthens the spirit in the process.

Life yields to those who will not quit. Engage. :-)

              • Canadian Vet says:

There is a world of difference between sports and combat. For one, in sports the other guy isn’t actively trying to kill you, regardless how fierce the rivalry between the teams.

Also, you might see your buddy carted off the field/ice/diamond on a stretcher and he might be bleeding and unconscious. But he isn’t going to have extra holes in him from bullets and shrapnels, he isn’t going to be burnt to a crisp, he isn’t going be missing limbs, you won’t be standing in the Tarmac watching a stainless steel box carrying what’s left of him in the back of a a Herc so he can have a closed-casket funeral back home.

I appreciate what you’re trying to do, but likening the stresses of athletes to those of combat just doesn’t work. You screw up playing football, your team doesn’t make the championship. You screw up in a war zone, people die.

21 Canadian dead in 7 months of combat? I have seen that many Marines dead in a week. We lost 50,000 Americans in that war.

Imagine a 13 month tour. The dead have my sympathies. You do not. Don’t be a pisser, moaner, whiner or crier. Suck it up and quit feeling sorry for yourself. Let the dead bury the dead.

You are alive. Enjoy it. Go get laid. :-)

DK, my apologies, I had no idea you were a vet yourself.

And while the number of dead my tour suffered seems barely significant to you, it is extremely high to me. Hell, it was high in our global mindset, seeing how a lot of Canadians, me included were still in the “Bosnia” mind frame in term of deployed operations, where deaths in theatre weren’t from combat action but from accidents.

Also, I wasn’t even born when you were in Vietnam. In fact, I wasn’t even a twinkle in my father’s eye yet.

And while I’d love to go into more detail here, last thing I want is saying something I shouldn’t over these means. But given half a chance, I would buy you a beer.

I guess I learned more form the medic who sang with an opera voice to comfort those who suffered while they died at a young age in their foxholes during the war against the people in Vietnam than I do from some arrogant obeyer who seems to revel at the fact they counted body bag stacks while praising the benefits of being in the service to empire.

                  YMMV.

May God have mercy on your soul.

I once had lunch with a couple of pansy ass geeks like you (not sure if they believed in anarchy and read fringe element socialists like you do) but they were dissing baseball talking about how (limp wrist-ed) silly the game was.

I didn’t say anything. I just listened. Finally they asked me what I thought. I said, “You have never played the game have you?” They replied, “How did you know that?” I said you couldn’t talk about the game like that if you had ever played it.

Likewise, you do not know shit from shinola about war because you have never been to war. You have lived your life in your mother’s basement living off of your parents lamenting the cost of college and blaming everyone else for your lack of accomplishment, while pushing Free Trade as if it were a FREEDOM and sucking Lew Rockwell’s dick! :-)

No, I do not support the “Empire”. But as a young man I was required to choose between America and Canada: allegiance to the Crown or to the US Constitution. I made my choice and made the best of it, exercising my responsibility as an America citizen.

The NWO has captured the American capital in a coup and a conspiracy. This is the “Empire” that you rail against; it is not the American ideal embodied in the Constitution. But you would rather disparage everything American because you are a fucking communist and anarchist!

Come on over, I’m running out of paper targets Faggot!!!

                • Average Guy says:

Ah yeah, Canadian Vet. You’re correct, I have never served the empire and killed for its gain. Thank goodness! I don’t have to jump off a cliff to know it’s a bad idea. And, I can learn from those who realized what a mistake it was to do so and wrote about it or told others.

Your comments, and those like you who showcase their whoreship for the empire, especially idolizing serving the empire, is quite the learning experience.

Everyone should be leery of those who whorship the empire, often those types are psychotic and will flip out on even those who cherish freedom and liberty. I imagine that’s what happened in Selco’s situation as well.

I’m mean, look how Krugman Kidd indirectly attacks his fellow Marine medic who sang opera songs to comfort those who were dying, it’s as if he were swatting at a fly. That’s probably the same approach people had in Selco’s situation when they shot at each other?

I imagine the people in conflict in Selco’s situation labeled everyone they met, correctly or not, so as to de-humanize them and turn them into mere objects.

Krugman Kidd feels better about attacking me by incorrectly labeling me as gay or communist, that way he can feel good about doing such people harm and forget about having done it. That’s the way of the psychopath. Know the signs and watch out. Lest you too follow down the hole that is the dark side.

I can only hope that you, Canadian Vet, will look up the articles written by Laurence M. Vance and learn from your fellow soldiers.

Walking in the Shoes of a Soldier
                  By Laurence M. Vance
                  February 11, 2014

…”Although only 1 percent of Americans have served in the military, veterans account for 20 percent of all suicides.

Just ten steps in the shoes of a soldier is enough to see that no thinking person who treasures liberty, peace, morality, decency, his family, and peace of mind would join the military no matter how patriotic he was.”

Sounds like you have walked the walk it’s a smell you never forget , the smell of sewage mixed with spent power and the taste of bile rising in the back of your throat.
I remember during golf war 1 everyone was at the point of exhaustion (72 hours non stop ) and just dropping and falling asleep in the field I saw one guy in the dark curled up face down in the sand so I affixed a chem light to his load bearing gear so he would not get run over . Pulled out my poncho rolled up in the poncho liner and passed out. Slept through the night only hearing the sentrys walking about . At first light I reached over shook the guy next to me he did not respond. So I grabbed his harness rolling him over the sight is one I will never forget his face was swollen and black , I back peddled and stud up I had slept next to a dead guy the whole night.

We had lagered in a field with strewn dead Iraqi soldiers not far from kuwait city that had been bombed to clear the Iraqi minefields.

This was one of the few experiences that will never leave me from that time , the siege at Khafji and the death highway outside of Kuwait city.

He was just some random I sat with in the mess tent in Ma’Sum Ghar and chatted with about the 2008 Olympics over breakfast. But it was enough of a connection to feel it when I heard he burnt alive in an IED strike.

And my closest personal brush with death was when I told my detachment commander I didn’t quite feel like climbing up on our vehicle twice for the same thing and stayed in my camp chair instead of don’t what I was told. I’ve always prided myself on being a consummate professional but that day, if hadn’t decided to slack off in the shade instead of following orders and gotten on top of that vehicle, I would have had my guts ripped up by a piece of shrapnel from a Katyusha rocket that impacted not 100 meters away about 30 seconds after I received my instructions.

One, I was on my own time and I pulled over to pay my respects; on that one, another driver thought I had no business to slow down and wanted to tune me in. Funny how quickly he drove off when I told him it was for a FELLOW soldier coming home in a box and if he didn’t back down his day was going to get unpleasant.

The second time, we were heading back to Kingston from exercise in Meaford. My packet received orders to pull over and we were all lined up, some on the shoulder, some on our vehicles’ running boards. This is of course someone’s choice to engage in warped sexual practices, but doesn’t change the fact that they ARE spreading germs and death to the population that choose to be part of this. Doesn’t change the fact that they are spreading super bugs that are antibiotic resistant. Doesn’t change the fact that many people get sick because of this weird practice. This is just fact.

Censor children that are desperately trying to tell their parents or authorities about pedophiles trying to rape them. This is intolerance towards the homosexuals, bisexuals, lesbians, and transwarped genders?

This is the last dying throes of society when we as a people are prohibited, trashing the Constitution of America, from talking about science fact of ANY issue because it offends a certain segment of the population.

The brain can only take so much hate before totally losing all touches with reality.

      • eppe says:

        Sybil Eisen:
Here is a rebuttal to your rants on the “boomers”.
Maybe? it will set you right, but then again you are not right from the beginning. I pity your mom for raising such a spoiled brat as yourself…

The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday. If all of us “old farts” have all of the money, then let us try to elect someone who might be near honest and not be after feathering their own nests.

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are “Baby Boomers” getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We have worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.
In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience.

We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don’t know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam. We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn’t fight for the Socialist States of America ; we fought for the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.” We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America , and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America.

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the “Hope and Change” which in reality was nothing but “Hype and Lies.”

You have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don’t like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or “Climbing the Social Ladder” to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the “Great Lie” in 2008 are now having buyer’s remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn’t have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the ‘Kool-Aid.’ Now you’re paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom.

This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don’t worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2014 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we’re going, and in 2014 we’re going to the polls by the millions.

This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. It belongs to “We the People” and “We the People” plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren. So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the “Grey-Haired Brigade.”

        Footnote:
This is spot on. I am another Gray-Haired Geezer signing on. I will circulate this to other Gray-Haired Geezers all over this once great county.

Can you feel the ground shaking???

          GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD

@ eppe. A lot of people see you as someone that has a hold of humor to make everyone laugh. Yet I read what you wrote above this about the boomer generation and you write quite well and put over the point a lot more condenced than I can on many subjects. I can’t understand how anyone can be so filled with wanton hatred that they could want an entire generation of people to just die off. I know people from the silent generation all the way to generation z and there are good people and a$$holes within each generation. This is just human nature.

To categorize everyone of one generation as terrible and deserving to go to the bone yard is exactly the profile of serial killers that focus on one group of people to eliminate. This is how the police are able to catch these maniacs as they have some sick calling card. Many people call Mr.E just upset and blowing off steam. These rants top the line of people like NC Joker. This is a person that gets aroused with people dying. This is too obvious to me from the past hundreds and hundreds of deranged comments, such as after the Boston Marathon bombing. These are all evident on previous articles that anyone can view as proof. Extrakrazy made these comments all by himself, again and again. Comments that are just nuts, not just anger, just psychopathic and not rational.

This is a big problem now, and the anti-gunners use everytime one of these wackos guns down innocent people to demonize the weapon they used. Not dealing with the fact that the lunatic would have used anything available to be a killer, and not dealing with the severe mental matter of someone so demented that is not even seeing people as anything other than targets. That the MSM for you.

Lawyer: “Apparently, then, the date of conception was August 8?”
            Witness: “Yes.”

Lawyer: “How many times have you committed suicide?”

Lawyer: “You don’t know what it was, and you didn’t know what it looked like, but can you describe it?”
Lawyer: “You say that the stairs went down to the basement?”
            Witness: “Yes.”
Lawyer: “And these stairs, did they go up also?”
Lawyer: “Have you lived in this town all your life?”
            Witness: “Not yet.”
Lawyer: (realizing he was on the verge of asking a stupid question) “Your Honor, I’d like to strike the next question.”

Witness: “It was in the evening. The autopsy started about 8:30pm.”
Lawyer: “And Mr. Eddington was dead at the time, is that correct?”

Witness: “I refuse to answer that question.
Lawyer: “Did you ever stay all night with this man in Chicago?”

Lawyer: “Did you ever stay all night with this man in Miami?”

Lawyer: “What is your marital status?”
            Witness: “Fair.”
            Lawyer: “Are you married?”
            Witness: “No, I’m divorced.”
Lawyer: “And what did your husband do before you divorced him?”
Witness: “A lot of things I didn’t know about.”
Lawyer: “And who is this person you are speaking of?”

Lawyer: “How did you happen to go to Dr. Cherney?”
Witness: “Well, a gal down the road had had several of her children by Dr. Cherney and said he was really good.”
Lawyer: “Doctor, how many autopsies have you performed on dead people?”
Witness: “All my autopsies have been performed on dead people.”
Lawyer: “Were you acquainted with the deceased?”
            Witness: “Yes sir.”
Lawyer: “Before or after he died?”
Lawyer: “Mrs. Jones, is your appearance this morning pursuant to a deposition notice which I sent to your attorney?”
Witness: “No. This is how I dress when I go to work.”
The Court: “Now, as we begin, I must ask you to banish all present information and prejudice from your minds, if you have any.”
Lawyer: “Did he pick the dog up by the ears?”
            Witness: “No.”
Lawyer: “What was he doing with the dog’s ears?”
Witness: “Picking them up in the air.”
Lawyer: “Where was the dog at this time?”
            Witness: “Attached to the ears.”
Lawyer: “When he went, had you gone and had she, if she wanted to and were able, for the time being excluding all the restraints on her not to go, gone also, would he have brought you, meaning you and she, with him to the station?”
Other Lawyer: “Objection. That question should be taken out and shot.”
Lawyer: “And lastly, Gary, all your responses must be oral. Ok? What school do you go to?”
            Witness: “Oral.”
            Lawyer: “How old are you?”
            Witness: “Oral.”
Lawyer: “What is your relationship with the plaintiff?”
            Witness: “She is my daughter.”
Lawyer: “Was she your daughter on February 13, 1979?”
Lawyer: “Now, you have investigated other murders, have you not, where there was a victim?”
Lawyer: “Now, doctor, isn’t it true that when a person dies in his sleep, in most cases he just passes quietly away and doesn’t know anything about it until the next morning?”
Lawyer: “And what did he do then?”
Witness: “He came home, and next morning he was dead.”
Lawyer: “So when he woke up the next morning he was dead?”
Lawyer: “Did you tell your lawyer that your husband had offered you indignities?”
Witness: “He didn’t offer me nothing. He just said I could have the furniture.”
Lawyer: “So, after the anesthesia, when you came out of it, what did you observe with respect to your scalp?”
Witness: “I didn’t see my scalp the whole time I was in the hospital.”
            Lawyer: “It was covered?”
            Witness: “Yes, bandaged.”
Lawyer: “Then, later on…what did you see?”
Witness: “I had a skin graft. My whole buttocks and leg were removed and put on top of my head.”
Lawyer: “Could you see him from where you were standing?”
Witness: “I could see his head.”
Lawyer: “And where was his head?”
            Witness: “Just above his shoulders.”
Lawyer: “Do you drink when you’re on duty?”
Witness: “I don’t drink when I’m on duty, unless I come on duty drunk.”
Lawyer: “Any suggestions as to what prevented this from being a murder trial instead of an attempted murder trial?”
            Witness: “The victim lived.”
Lawyer: “The truth of the matter is that you were not an unbiased, objective witness, isn’t it? You too were shot in the fracas.”
Witness: “No, sir. I was shot midway between the fracas and the naval.”
Lawyer: “Officer, what led you to believe the defendant was under the influence?”
Witness: “Because he was argumentary, and he couldn’t pronunciate his words.”

Over half the population is now immigrants and that percentage will continue to grow while those here long term shrink in percentage. Most of these new arrivals come from countries where freedoms are scarce and they have no use for the second amendment among others. Things will continue to get worse and with Bone Head pushing amnesty much faster than we expected.

    24. Frank Thoughts says:

Everything changes in SHTF. Having lived through it, I can share some social observations.

First, men. In a shtf, men tend to break down into stereotypes fast. There is the self-destructive, whiny bitch man who drinks and complains all day (he tends to die early of bad health). There are the time-server men who try and hang on to whatever gig they got going (dies from a heart attack from the stress), and then there are the opportunists. The opportunists light up like a bright light when shtf comes. These are the guys that open a bar where there used to be the public library. Start dealing hookers to horny politicians, get you prime filet to order, 25-year-old scotch (price? your daughter).

These guys become the new rulers and fast.

Now, women. Women are stoic creatures and tend to be very adaptable to the new circumstances. But you may not like how women adapt. Women, if they are smart but not beautiful and over the age of 40, tend to become entrepreneurs. They work their old connections in government etc. and sell anything under the sun.

If they are aged 15 and up to 35, and are reasonably fit, reasonably healthy, reasonably good-looking and can rock a nice pair of denim, then, well, then they go to work selling what always sells: sex.

This can be the most distressing for men. Fellow students and colleagues become the girls hanging around hotels. Fathers have to get used to their daughters doing this to pay for tuition fees. The men can also get very jealous because this work makes good money and beats the pants off off being unemployed, poor or doing dog work humping crap for cash (that the dumb but loyal men end up doing).

And the best of these women? They will hook up with the opportunists. That is hard to take: the best looking women will be out of the reach of most guys, period. To her, you will look like a powerless sap with no cash. And a powerless sap with no cash doesn’t pay for the apartment, the nice clothes, the gym membership, the travel.

Most guys will not be able to get laid except with the ugliest, skankiest older women. And only when they are very drunk. I have even seen these women go lesbian because the male population is so pathetic they can’t even get the appetite to go near them.

In shtf, gender roles get thrown into the blender and the cocktail most guys will have to drink is going to be depressingly toxic.

    25. The year 2525 says:

In the year 2525, NOBODY READING THIS IS GOING TO SURVIVE! We’re all on death row, just waiting for The Father to call our name.

Are you ready? Have your sins been paid for? Have your accounts been settled?

PUT YOU LIFE IN THE HANDS OF JESUS AND THEY WILL BE! By saying this prayer and meaning it:

“Lord, I believe that you sent your Son to die for my sins on His Cross. I accept Your gift and in exchange, I give you my old self and am now Born Again. Thank You Father-God, thank you!”

I want to take exception to your negative comments regarding We the Boomers. I am on the tail end of the boomers. When the time comes that I would have been retired, I fully expect the collapse will have been near completion and I will not be able to retire. I fully expect that I might have to work until I have one foot in the grave, and that chances are high that I won’t receive any of the social security money that I have been forced to contribute over the years. This despite the fact that I worked full-time all through my child bearing years and would have liked to stay home when my children were young. That was not in the cards for me because DH had a long time health condition and we had to both work. You keep lumping everyone in the same pot and you are just a very ignorant, uniformed and hateful little person at times. Please get your facts straight and stop blaming those that are not responsible for the country’s downfall– that would be politicians and banksters driving us over the cliff financially.

Dirty, bought-off politicians (93%) in my humble opinion, and opportunistic bankers and financial people (including that dirty FED RESERVE)caused this and are still perpetuating fraud on the people. I read a good article on Silver Bear Cafe months ago– can’t remember the author- Said that people are dumb, distracted or in denial. I think it’s probably pretty true. I used to be distracted in my 30′s and 40′s. Busy raising kids and working full-time, and going back to school doesn’t leave loads of time for intellectual pursuits relevant to learning what was really going on in the banking/financial world and why we were being scammed by the FED. Today’s kids are distracted by the Kardashians and Dancing with the Stars and American Idol. Bread and Circuses. Eisen is just in the Dumb category. Can’t figure that Boomers- hard working folks like you and me who paid their taxes and contributed to society did not cause the problem

Many were people looking for help for the suffering masses- children and people suffering from societal change. they mean well, but sometimes people learn best to be self-sufficient if they do suffer a little.

You are correct that college is being pushed to the masses. Many of us midwesterners would prefer that more folks are trained in trade arts. College is not for everyone, and if more kids were trained in trades, learned to work, and then went to college society would probably benefit.

        Eisen,

Complacency came from a number of societal factors, not just in “boomer” generation. Many of my generation remembers when you could walk down a street in many larger cities and not get regularly mugged. We could leave our doors unlocked at night, stay outside all day and not come home till the street lights came on.
As time went on and the American family changed to more single family households, the needs of the household changed. We went away from the anchoring base of religion (Myself included) Easing of credit restrictions and lower interest rates encouraged people to buy homes, later on with easy credit== Mc Mansions that folks could not afford. People bought toys they could not afford on credit. The young in America have grown up with things that the “boomers” could only dream of. Many of my generation remember 3 channels on tv and no air conditioning. We grew up without.

The easing of credit and fast easy money was a big part of this. Who is responsible? BOA, JP MORGAN- ie big banks that stand to profit big time. They hooked the masses not just “boomers” We are going to get the big reset soon.
I can adjust. I will just live like my grandparents lived during the great depression.

But some of us voted democrat! Some voted republican; some voted independent. We don’t. IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO WE VOTED FOR! THOSE RUNNING FOR ELECTIONS WERE PAID FOR BY THE ELITE!

If that’s your line of reasoning: we boomers were complacent and no other generation was complacent (including your generation), then the question is: what have YOU DONE that wasn’t complacent? Have you gone out protesting, started a revolution, or done ANYTHING?

      • Cellar spider says:

Eisenkreuz just might have a point about us babyboomers (I being at the tail end). We’ve been in positions of leadership for over twenty years now. Look what has happened.

The rich have gotten richer. We elect morons. We’ve allowed 50000+ men and women suffer devastating injuries for arguably two useless wars. The economy is in shambles. There is an evil cancer from within this country that is tearing it apart. And worst of all, we allow leadership to even entertain balancing our needs on the backs of future generations.

And even if you / we say that we didn’t do it…or it isn’t our fault…. The fact of the matter is that we allowed it to happen… And in that sense, we have miserably failed

Sometimes looking in the mirror is difficult. Just sayin.

        • Archivist says:

How did I “allow” anything to happen? How would I stop any of it from happening? If I vote, the worst choice wins. If I don’t vote, the worst choice wins. I go to the primary, but there’s no choice because the media has made all but one candidate give up. I don’t have the big bucks to run myself, as if I would have a chance anyway. Anyone who tries to make major changes winds up dead. You vote for someone who says they will change things. As soon as they arrive in DC, they start voting with the crowd so they can get invited to all the parties.

Grouping people by age doesn’t describe reality. You forget that the people from the generation before the baby boomers is still here in the millions, and their main information source is the media. And the media tells them over and over that any conservative that runs is going to take their Social Security. AARP tells them the same thing. And there are all the people born from 1966 to 1995 who also vote.

So you say one age group from a 20-year period (1946-1965) has caused all the problems, not the other age groups which cover a 50-year period (1925-1946 and 1966 to 1995)?

The grouping should be conservative versus liberal, and liberals outnumber conservatives, especially with the handout crowd and the illegal immigrants. I don’t see any way to change things without violence.

          So I don’t think I have failed.

If you know anything about what I have said in the past. My wife will be hunting fishing along with the men and except that the other women in the group also be doing the same.

Michael Maykrantz was on duty at a fire house on 74th street in Ocean City when the floor began to shake and the doors started to rattle.

At Bart Rader’s house in Ocean Pines, a loud boom “like somebody blew something up” preceded shaking so heavy that it rattled a 50-pound metal sculpture against the wall.

Miles away in Annapolis, Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan was meeting in state Sen. James Mathias’ office when he got a text message from his daughter: “What the heck was that?”

A series of tremors rattled residents across Ocean City and the lower Delmarva Peninsula around midday Thursday, puzzling geologists and emergency managers. Within a few hours, geologists ruled out an earthquake, and by Thursday evening, signs pointed to supersonic jets flying from the Patuxent Naval Air Station.

Air station officials said Friday two jets were in the air off the coast at the time the rumbling was felt, and that weather conditions made it likely that sonic booms could have traveled further than normal.

The phenomenon nevertheless mystified many, including Maykrantz.

“We’ve had sonic booms in town before, but this seemed different,” said the firefighter and paramedic. “It was more sustained, and then there was a pause for about a minute and then it started again.”

Ocean City police dispatchers received more than a dozen calls by noon from residents reporting a loud boom and violent shaking shortly before noon, though a police spokeswoman said she didn’t feel anything.

Most immediately thought of an earthquake, remembering the 5.8 magnitude temblor centered in Virginia on August 23, 2011, that also shook the Delmarva peninsula.

“We are hearing reports of a possible earthquake in Ocean City, MD. That is unconfirmed at this time,” the Maryland Emergency Management Agency posted on Twitter.

The Maryland Geological Survey quickly confirmed sensing the rumbling on its sensors in Reisterstown. To triangulate the source or magnitude of a possible earthquake, they conferred with seismologists in Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, said Maryland Geological Survey Director Richard Ortt.

“When the Earth moves, you get certain kinds of waves,” Ortt said.

The only earthquake on record in Ocean City occurred Oct. 15, 1928, according to the Maryland Geological Survey.

But the seismographs didn’t show the “signature” of an earthquake, Ortt said — a buildup lasting a few seconds before the violent shaking began, and then secondary and tertiary waves afterward. In this case, that pattern was not evident.

Scientists at both Columbia University and the University of Maryland, College Park, confirmed that no earthquake took place.

Seismologists also ruled out a frost quake.

Yes, a frost quake. The phenomena known as cryoseisms have produced shaking and the sounds of exploding bombs across the northern United States this winter. They can occur after frigid weather, when frozen soil, rocks or water violently crack, and have been known to reach magnitudes as high as 1.5.

But that’s not what happened in Ocean City where temperatures were close to freezing much of the day. Frost quakes have been common this winter in the iceboxes of Minnesota, Illinois and Canada.

That left some sort of man-made blast or boom.

Quarry blasts or surface explosions contrast with earthquakes on seismograph readings, appearing as sudden temblors, Ortt said. But there were none known of nearby.

Sonic waves also are commonly known to be mistaken for earthquakes, but officials at Dover Air Force base to the north and NASA Wallops Flight Facility to the south on the Delmarva said they had no activity to report.

Late in the day, the Navy owned up to scheduling two supersonic flights off the Atlantic coast Thursday from its test flight facility at Patuxent Naval Air Station in Southern Maryland.

That explanation satisfied the Maryland Geological Survey.

“At this time, we are confident that the supersonic flights were the cause of the felt reports,” Ortt said in an e-mail about 6 p.m. Thursday.

Base spokeswoman Connie Hempel said Friday that the jets, an F-35C and an F/A-18, were in the air from about 9:20 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. along a strip of airspace that runs along the Delmarva, up to 12 miles off the coast and 3 miles away at its closest. Weather officials at the base said the sonic booms the aircraft created could have likely traveled further than normal because a temperature inversion was in place, when there is warm air aloft holding colder air in place below, with calm winds and recent passage of a cold front, Hempel said.

Test aircraft from the air station make supersonic flights almost daily in the airspace off of the Delmarva shore, and the sonic booms they create are rarely felt on land, officials said.

Some nevertheless wonder if there wasn’t something more mysterious. Rader said similar rumblings occur once every three or six months, and Thursday’s was the most intense yet.

“We’ve never got one like today,” he said.

Tribune reporters Michelle Deal-Zimmerman and Paresh Dave contributed to this report.

Any sudden temperature change can cause this type of frost earthquake. Inb many parts of the country, especially South Dakota you can have a temperature rise of 100 degrees or more in one day from what is called a Chinook Wind, like what is a Santa Ana out in California. It is when the air falls very rapidly and compresses like a bicycle pump. Temperatures can actually rise 50 degrees in less than a hour. If there is a significant amount of ice and/or snow on the ground and surfaces, you have these reactions to the temperature. Not as dramatic, but like putting a very cold glass dish suddenly in very hot water.

          • Be informed says:

In Spearfish South Dakota on Jan.22, 1943 the temperature at 7:30 was -4, and two minutes later after the Chinook winds hit the temperature rose to 45 degrees. This is a world record for the fastest temperature change in the shortest amount of time. In Loma, Montana on Jan.15, 1972 the temperature went up from-54 to 49 degrees in one day. People’s windshields on their cars and their home windows cracked because of this massive temperature change. South Dakota on the western side has the topography from Wyoming mountains to the west of them to allow for this compression of air and cause these winds.

Classification as a ‘Prepper’ or “Survialist’ do not really acurately describe who will best survive in a collapse. Able-ist will survive because they are able to do things which can keep them alive. Able to see danger coming, able to prepare, able to solve problems and fix things, able to grow their own food and have marketable skills. The ‘Zombies’ or ‘Sheeple’ will be the Unable. 40. In Selco’s case there was total collapse of government and the subsequent loss of the command & control structure. Everything plunged into chaos because no one was in charge of anything.

      http://cidc.library.cornell.edu/dof/yugoslavia/yugo.htm

It is my opinion that something similar to this is very unlikely to happen in the US. Although it would be nice to see all of Rebuplocrats and Demicans along with the fearless leader forced out of office, get on a boat and sail off for parts unknown, the chances of that happening are slim… those boys aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

If chaos comes to the US it is more likely to come as the result a huge natural disaster or a large scale nuclear attack. It would have to be large enough so as to render the FEMA mechanism ineffective. This would leave isolated pockets of survivors who would then have to fend for themselves while restoring some sort of order in their areas.

The Taliban claims to have taken a military working dog as a prisoner in a video where Taliban members show off the dog and rifles supposedly obtained after a firefight with U.S. forces in December.

A NATO spokesman has confirmed U.S. forces have been missing a working dog since December, which adds credibility to the Taliban’s claim. However, NATO officials would not confirm if the dog in the video was one affiliated with a coalition unit.

“We can confirm that a military working dog went missing following an ISAF mission in December, 2013. It is ISAF policy to defer identification to the appropriate national authorities,” NATO’s International Security Assistance Force-Afghanistan said in a statement sent to Military.com.

Is water available independent of any municipal supply or source?

Do I know how I will preserve my food?

Have I identified how I will heat and cook?

Is it possible to safely store food, clothing, explosives, guns,
      and ammunition at the retreat?

Can the location be secured now before it is actually manned
      during the collapse?

Does it have adequate facilities? Can all these people wash
      occasionally? Will the toilets work?

Can the retreat be obscured and hidden, now and after the

Have I devised a workable defense plan?

      Can the area be patrolled?

Is the retreat actually defensible or am I just kidding myself?

Can the approaches be mined and guarded?

Do I have the proper equipment to guard them?

Is the retreat in an area where I can raise a garden, scrounge,
and generally set up a viable existence after the collapse?

Do I have a library in the retreat?

Is the library good enough to provide the information needed
after the collapse? If not, what books do I still need?

Do I have adequate amounts of everything to implement my mine
field and mantrap plans for the retreat, given a fair and honest
evaluation of what I will probably have to face?

What about medical supplies and information? Have I got that
      covered?

Have I provided for nuclear/biological monitoring? Do I have
      Geiger counters, dosimeters, etc.?

Do I have decontamination suits so at least some of my people can
leave the retreat to guard, patrol, and take care of outside
      chores?

Have I made plans to keep hordes of people from coming anywhere
      near my area?

Have I evaluated my people and attempted to fit them into the

Am I psychologically equipped to defend my retreat? Can I
      actually shoot intruders?

Does everyone know which situations will actually trigger the
defense plan and when to set off the mines and explosives and
      start shooting?

Do I have a stock of barter goods? Are they properly stored?

Do I know how everyone will get to the retreat? Do that have a
least one alternative contingency plan for getting to the
      retreat, preferably two?

Have I evaluated the various thread possibilities and then made
realistic plans to counter them, especially the nonconfrontive,
      nonmilitary threats?

Are the immediate approaches to my retreat such that they can be
made impassable by booby traps or just plain physical means?

Do I know how much time it will take to close the approaches and
who will be in charge of this job?

Do I have a battle plan that fits everyone into the defense
      structure?

Do I know the warning signs that will indicate that it is time to
put my retreat plan into operation?

Do I have the correct guns and enough ammunition or have I been
swept away by the armament gurus into believing tons of hardware
can replace the right amount of the proper equipment?

Have I planned for retreat communications?

Do I know what means and material the enemy will have at his
disposal or even who the enemy is, in a realistic sense?

Have I put together a psychological plan to keep people away and
discourage them if they do attack?

Have I planned for special medical/dietary needs of the group?

Have I taken care of my group’s current medical/dental
requirements so these won’t be of immediate concern after the
      collapse?

Do I know how to handle explosives safely?

      reload ammunition?

      operate and repair guns?

Am I skilled in using alternative means of transportation?

Am I highly motivated and self-confident?

Do I know my home territory?

Have I tried to look at defeating my retreat from the eyes of an
      enemy?

Is the retreat adequately stocked with tools and utensils for use
      in the new economy?

Do I know where to get the consumable items we will need such as
light bulbs, grease, oil, toilet paper, soap, canning lids, salt,
needles, and thread? Have I thought about these items in terms
      of my retreat?

Are fires a danger? If so, what can I do to counter that threat?

Is blast a danger? Will my retreat withstand an explosion?

Can I properly evaluate situations? Am I prone to hysteria or
      passivity?

Do I have a continuing survival training program?

Have I studied other collapsed societies and how people are
      surviving?

Have I made plans to defend against heavy equipment such as tanks
and helicopters, if that becomes necessary?

Is it possible for attackers to sneak up on my retreat unseen, or
more importantly, for them to detect my retreat without exposing
      themselves?

Do I know how to use fish, game, and wild plants in my area?

Do I know how to garden in my area?

Hey Eisen, Aren’t you late for your local circle jerk (meat)ing.

    45. Old Vet says:

Using chipped and cracked canning jars as a
      mini-greenhouse:

Better root cuttings, and give some plants a stronger start in life.

Once your cutting is trimmed like you like it, and is treated with your rooting compound such as willow water or that white stuff sold commercially in a bottle that’s almost all chemical: I poke a hole and waler it out using a big heavy duty screwdriver.

Into that hole I carefully insert my cutting, making sure you don’t knock off
the rooting compound if you use that white commercial stuff.
Over top of that cutting you invert a glass canning jar that fits the cutting: leaving air space all the way around the cutting, making sure it does NOT touch the glass anywhere. If it touches the glass the cutting inside the jar will freeze.

You want the jar imbeded in the soil at least up to the 2nd thread, and if you bury the jar completely over all the jars threads, that’s okay too so long as the cutting does not touch the glass jar anywhere.

Once that is done, you’ll want to heap wheat straw mulch around the outside of that glass jar to better protect the rooting process as well as seducing worms into the soil around that new cutting.

There is no finer “fertilizer” than worm castings. And under mulch, under that glass jar, the soil is warmer providing worms a place to munch compost all winter during daylight hours.

You can also grow certain vegetables this same way and extend your salad season far into winter if you don’t have thick snow covers that will bury that glass top.

Hope this helps you root your own cuttings, and get more plants cheaper than having to purchase them.

    46. Maudy Frickett says:

Shhh. I think Eisen went to bed already.

    47. Socrates says:

Selco lays it all out, once again….well done.
Just as the saying goes- “Your attitude determines your altitude”- many of our worst enemies are ourselves.
Everyone has seen those moments in movies where the apparent ‘leader’ has their meltdown moment when asked “What are we going to do we do now?” There is a awkward silence with all eyes fixed on that person and they slowly and quietly reply- “I don’t know”. The main thing is to know your limits and those of the people around you that count on you. Leaders rise to the occasion and are oftentimes thrown into the fray. NOBODY has all the answers, nobody! Horrible circumstances will be thrust upon us all… what matters is how you choose to react.

Just the other night I had an encounter with a stranger at my door late at night. My first thoughts were WHY is someone I don’t know at my door this late? I called my neighbors and we were soon all ‘aware’ of this newcomer in our midst. I was mentally preparing myself in case they decided to force their way in. I was NOT looking forward to ending anyone’s life, but I also had to quickly think about the possibility. My adrenaline went from relaxed to pumped… in about 10 seconds. I was on edge for quite awhile, keyed up, listening to every noise and thinking worst case scenarios, but still hoping for the best. After later reviewing the security footage, it was a lone man out with a clipboard, probably selling something or other. Or was he? His timing was piss-poor, as it was quite dark and late.
You can *never* assume things are as they appear at first glance…ever. There could have easily been a group of thugs, just around the corner and if I had opened the door…that might have been it. NEVER drop your guard, not even for a minute. Yes, you have to live your life, but don’t second guess your instincts- if something doesn’t feel right….or the hair raises on the back of your neck, those are primal. animal instincts and they may save your life if you don’t ignore them.

Moral of the story: The guy with the clipboard was not ‘selling’ anything. A neighbor called the police and they later apprehended the man a few blocks over with a clipboard full of NOTES complete with addresses.
      Notes like-
      -NO ADT signs or cameras
      -NO dogs
-Nobody home, no answer at xx:xx o’clock
-x number of cars in driveway
      -area not lit very well.
      -cul-de-sac, few neighbors

…And NO he didn’t wok for ADT.
As you can see, the man was CASING the neighborhood, for future visits, most likely. When the knock comes on the door or the doorbell rings, do you always waltz over and throw the door open? THAT will get you killed. Ask Selco- you have to be smarter than that.

A few things you can get for fairly CHEAP:
-Driveway alert/announcer at Harbor freight. low cost, easy way to setup up a wireless perimeter for driveways, sidewalks and fences.

-Security cameras and DVR. Many systems are only 199.99 now, Yes those are low end, but are still better than nothing. Go for the better, hi-res ones if you can with longer IR range at night, like 130-175 ft. YOu will be amazed what you can see in total darkness.

-Motion/ Security lights. Coleman makes a GREAT dual LED Solar powered unit that is 600 lumens and has motion detection. No wires, you just mount it up high and let it do it’s thing. It’s bright enough that you cannot stare at it in the dark without shielding your eyes. Instant on, instant bright, you will like it when it’s night!

      @ Everybody.

First of all I want to wish braveheart all the best about his situation that was dire that everything will immediately get better.

Next I want to address just how totally crazy and totally out of touch that lunatic Mr E is. In the previos post this insane nut wish that my lungs would be burned by volcanic ash, that my chidlren would grow up gay and that he would F my mother, all with three you son of a bitch rants in between. I did not retaliate like I should have. This was all because I simply responded to Npgh about sodomy and how disease is rapidly spread throught human history because of it. Every single past orgy in the past has had a epidemic of sickness soon to follow. ANY college history class can verify this.

That nut cannot stand the truth about homosexual activity causing disease. This is not gay bashing, this is science fact. The Noro virus is all over the place and spread mainly by one reason, fecal material. A search engine will describe the Noro virus and how difficult it is to be sanitized away. People engaging in sodomy are prime carriers of this because it has to do with sh$%. This was not directed at Mr.E, over the Edge. Only trying to show that major religions have it right that sodomy is not only a sin, it is a disease spreader and partially making many antibiotics worthless because of the mass overuse of them to fight infections from people coming into direct contact with fecal material that is loaded with just about every noxious bacteria there is. That is why they call it human WASTE.

I left ExtraKrazy alone until this crackpot once again talked about baby boomers dying off, AGAIN. This character in ITS mind “THINKS” that he is defending himself when he was the sole people that started this attack on everyone born between 1946 and 1964, again. People get sick and tired of hearing this rantings and when they stick up and talk back against this psychopath, they are the ones that are the aggressors against “POOR” Mr. E.

This is very common in mass killers that they are incapable of taking responsibility for their actions. They see ONLY what they want to see and anyone that gets in their way they react with violence and hate. You typical serial killer.

Anyone doubting this can read some of these lunatic comments from past articles about desperately wanting hundreds of millions of people to die based on solely an age, a gender, or some other whacked out notion like they are preventing Mr. E. to skateboard wildly on the sidewalk because the nut might run into an elderly person or some child. No this doesn’t matter, in Mr E’s totally warped mind they deserve to die because they did not totally agree with what is left in his mind.

Look up traits of a serial killer and you will be amazed just how this mirrors Mr. E. The schizo traits are very much there also in which there seems to be a least three different personalities fighting to come out, and that do. This is not your common troll, this is a very, very, very mentally sick individual. I appeal to what is left of Mr.E’s mind to seek immediate help before it is too late. At least go talk to a good qualified psychiatrist, just talk about why Mr. E. wants so many innocent people to die.

Something I was simply talking about to another contributor of the site. Not directed at him, just an observation of what I am seeing especially with the rampant outbreak of the Noro virus that is embedded in a reservior that is fecal material. Sodomy is all about crap and the unsafe contact with it. This is why religions have labeled it as a sin, throughout history this practice has brought plagues upon the population and this is a lesson that is still unlearned of history. Now you have a society truly encouraging this perversion instead of teaching people about just how dangerous to health it is.

Anything such as this brings out the other, one of many, personalities of schizo E. People eventually tell the truth about what they are and the way they fell. Just look at the above comment in which this person admits that they are bisexual, probably a slip of the tongue. I don’t hate the LGBT community, I just try to point out that what they engage is filthy and spreads disease and people need to be aware of this rather than hide this behind political correctness. Like this truth, the fact that Mr. E actually wanting masses of people dead is what this very mental ill person absolutely wants. A troll is like a screaming Cocktoo bird in a cage that wants attention. This individual wants people dead, a lot of people dead, the more the better. This is what is most alarming, we are actually talking to the next possible mass murderer. This truth is being brought out and maybe it will save people from this nut actually being able to act one day.

If anything maybe this lunatic will go back into their shell of delusion and possibly get some badly needed mental help. At least talk to a qualified psychiatrist that can help this mentally sick person understand why they want so many people to die.

      • Be informed says:

Political correctness of people not being able to talk about being attacked by many, NOT ALL by any means, of these sicko pedophiles is what has driven many innocent people to suicide that have been victimized by these evil pedophiles. Just like the South Park cartoon that send the kids to Tolerance Camp for trying to tell their parents about two perverts acting out beyond sick homosexual practices like shovelling a gerbil up the ass of the other. They were labeled as intolerant and gay bashers including getting tagged with discrimination. This cartoon is something that is showing what is happening with society, not allowing the truth to be known.

Throughout history, sodomy and orgies have lead to mass outbreaks of every venereal disease there is, bacterial infections that have spread to the rest of the population, and intestinal and waste organ viruses like the Noro. Yet we are not allowed to talk about this because it offends a certain group of people? People on cruise lines and restraurants are constantly getting really sick because of those that either are too stupid to wash their hands and/or because sodomy is out of control. Talk about people unnecessarily suffering.

IF people don’t choose their sexuality, they don’t have to still choose to act on it. NO ONE EVER needs to participate in an orgy. This is a proven fact that it is a rapid disease spreader to the whole population. It is still rare to see monogamous relationships even in states that allow gay marriage. The mere term bisexual means monogamous anything does not exist in them. This is still a free country, and they can engage in this sickness, but people can also still bring up the fact that this spreads germs like a plague. That is until political correctness TRIES TO override the First Amendment.

This is besides the point. I and no one else is talking about wiping out entire populations of people because they are a certain age like Mr. E does constantly. Actually looking forward to seeing people die. That is the real issue, someone that needs mental help like people need air to breathe.

        • Be informed says:

Thank you for just proving everything I say about perversion by confessing to be in orgies. People that engage in orgies are sick in the mind, they are complete sexual deviants capable of bestiality and going after children because they are warped in the mind. The Bible and other religions warn of orgies and sexual perversion because it HAS lead to disease on a terrible scale throughout history. Much of this is somewhat controlled now because of extreme high OVER use of antibiotics. Most diseases from sex are bacteria based, but there is a limit to how much antibiotics can control and we are now seeing super bugs developing from this over use of antibiotics.

AIDS is a disease spread because of the deviants that screw each like mayflies. The more sexual partners someone has the much higher chance of getting and then spreading viruses. Noro virus is something that antibiotics won’t touch, because it is a virus. I know many people that have eaten out and become quite sick from this, because your type of people choose to be weird and because others are too stupid and lazy to wash their hands.

The real problem is that people are not even allowed to talk about this biohazard because it is not “sensitive” to others. You really show your true colors as only the truly sickos would ever engage in orgies. God is about cleanness of the soul, and orgies are the most animalisitc sick and filthy practice that there is. I equate it to dogs rolling around in manure. Anyone that is happily married and had a good spouse will find this practice utterly repulsive. Yes, stupid, it does spread disease and is just about as animalisitc as a human can decay to.

            • Be informed says:

@ JayJay. What debate? I have not debated with this nut. I talk as a matter of act of this character as you would a specimen in a lab. Conformity is so strong in this country right now and is fueling political correctness. This is what I have a problem with. I talk about the utter sickness of these pedophiles that attack children because the kids and parents have been handicapped by people being afraid to even discuss these weirdos coming on to children.

I watch these shows in which they set up stings to catch these perverts. They are all over the place. These predators look for kids and any advantage they can gain. People like that nut want homosexuals to be purified as wonderful people that are kind and compassionate. There are of course gay people that don’t harm anyone and are in an one person relationship. however there are a huge number of them that criminally go after kids. These shows demonstrate this as proof just how much of a plague this is. I bring this up to make some parents a little more aware and I get typecast as someone too stupid to let this character get into my head.

I would like to laugh at the fool, but I really think this individual is totally insane and it will come out. Hopefully before anyone is harmed. What is in my head is the political correctness and the destruction of the Constitution and our right to free speech. This is something you will find is in a lot of people’s heads. The population is being corralled into a mind box in which if we talk about the truth of any matter, if it offends anyone then they use the term bashing to justify putting people far away from being able to express their opinions. Censorship at its finest. Everyone suffers when people cannot speak about a fact. The fact is children are being put in more and more danger each day because we are not suppose to talk about the fact that there is a huge number of homosexuals and bisexuals that are pedophiles. Anyone engaging in orgies is mentally and spiritually capable of ANY deviant and criminal sex act because everything goes in these total anti-God, anti-human practices of ultimate sickness. This is my opinion and the opinions of many people that still want and need decency and morality in their lives, something still allowed by the Bill Of Rights.

People do choose their sexuality. It’s interesting to see the correlation of the rainbow parade that’s been going on the past 20 years and the larger number of gays. Frankly I think it’s a government mandate trying to lower the population. All kinds of force fed rhetoric has been given to our susceptible youth. I had no idea of the concept of gay when i was in high school. Now kids are force fed this in junior high or even elementary. Giving them “options” long before they should even be thinking about such things.

You may recall the outrage back in December when the term “affluenza” was used by the defense during the case of a Texas teenager who, according to the courts, couldn’t be held accountable for his deadly actions because he was just too darned rich. Then 16 year-old, Ethan Couch, from a wealthy Texas family, was driving drunk when he crashed into four people standing at the side of the road with a disabled vehicle. Four of his own passengers were thrown from the vehicle, one of whom suffered a brain injury and can no longer move or speak.

Three hours after the accident, the boy’s blood alcohol level was .24 – more than triple the legal limit – and there were traces of Valium in his system. In other words, he was so drunk and high, it was a wonder he could even stand up.

Despite the fact that Couch pleaded guilty to drunk driving and manslaughter, he received no jail time. Instead, the boy was sent to a posh rehab center to ride horses, lift weights, and swim while he was being “rehabilitated” under the terms of a 10 year probationary period.

                1. Whackos first: Our citizens have voted in the largest group of whackos in the history of the nation. Via the Acorn type grass roots voting campaign and other similar types of campaigns, our lessor citizens are voting based on how much of a welfare check increase they will get. Or maybe what model of ‘Bamaphone. Candidates are buying their office with taxpayer funds. We are reaping the rewards.
We have so many decent senators and representatives. God bless them. Unfortunately, a barrage of stupid has a multiplier effect when fired at logic. It takes it’s toll and is wearing out the few remaining decent ones. Statistically the large number of lawmakers are supposed to render the whackos agenda’s and inputs inoperable. That’s how it’s supposed to work anyway. Unfortunately there are so many of them. Gov’t works when its citizens understand how it works and maintain the philosophy via the vote.

“At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child – miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats.” — P.J. O’Rourke

: a ruler who has total power and who often uses that power in cruel and unfair ways

                2. Gov’t has to promote business to keep the economy healthy. Although it appears that the Gov and business are in bed together that is not quite the case. Government and business have a symbiotic relationship. On many levels. Government’s job is to promote an environment which business can thrive. Stability of tax codes and regulations are a large component of this philosophy. Businesses know what they are dealing with and can build on it and thrive. In turn, businesses provide our citizens with jobs and the subsequent tax base that funds our government. Our government then turns that money into infrastructure, law enforcement and defense. To name a few.

The gov hasn’t done such a good job the past couple of decades. One example: you can sue a business for just about anything and win lately. WE have become the sue happy jackpot nation.
Example two: schizo ‘Bama care… these folks are pushing out daily changes in order to keep a totally hopeless agenda and failed law going. The resulting chaos not only shows poor leadership skills it also has a damping effect on the economy as a whole. As noted in the polls, it also has ill effect on the confidence of the citizens.

The environment the current “administration” is pushing kills businesses. When managers are forced to focus on the daily ‘Bamacare changes pushed out or the points of the daily lawsuit, managers can’t focus on what’s needed to keep their business healthy. It’s not just ‘Bamacare. The overall methodology is systemically destabilizing. Like putting the three year old in charge of the armed forces. Just whats needed for a coupe. Not inciting anything here.

    56. knightindullarmor says:

The problem that I have with this article is simple – it is not written from an American perspective.

The US Constitution was written to protect the rights of the People. The whole reason we have a federal government is to protect the People from a foreign invasion and to protect the People by resolving disputes between the States.

And going around like they did post-Katrina and stealing peoples firearms (not taking guns from folks running down mainstreet with TV’s, but taking firearms away from folks that were minding their own business on their own property) – that single action completely invalidates that organization’s constitutional authority.

Too many Americans have died trying to ensure freedom and liberty for future generations for us to simply ‘comply with orders’.

I guess what I’m getting at is that the ‘friend’ in the article should have been prepared to bug-in or bug-out or both and wouldn’t have had to drive about the city in chaos. Or at least he would have been wearing some kevlar and carrying a handgun at the minimum.

Seeing as most folks that would visit a shtf or prepper website own firearms, have the ability to bug-in, bug-out, or both, have plans to meetup with friends and family, have planned escape routes, etc… – how does this article really help anyone on this site?

Honestly, if I’m unarmed post-shtf that means I’m either dead or on my way to a ‘internment camp’.

When this nut makes these statements about people deserving to die and I see good people like Kulafarmer so upset that crosses the line. You look at the profiles of serial killers and every last one of them had this obsessional hatred of one group of people based on something absurd like hair color, age, gender, heighth, etc.

I hope E is a government troll because it means that no one is going to be hurt or killed. The unity of people coming to the aid of others shows the government that the people here have strong conviction and are not going to back down to trolling.

On the other hand if this chararcter is real, then these rantings show lunatic qualities of someone ready to break. You bet someone that spews such hate can finally become fed up with the lack of what they desire, mass death of people like the boomer generation. They figure that they are the ones that have to act to start this. I know this sounds crazy, but look at the volume and intensity of these past E rants of pure hate and desring death on a mass scale.

They still came and even more vicous upsetting people that have enough mega stress in their personal lives. Sometimes it is best to ignore, other times to stand up. Look at the truth about E that has been brought out. He lied to everyone saying he was not gay, yet is now admitting to being a bisexual engaging in orgies. The truth is coming out. The truth about this nut planning to get rid of a lot of boomers might also, then people’s lives are saved. In any case it shows that a sicko bully trying to make others’ lives more tension filled has others that will stand up and not put up with it. Look at the past articles as total prrof just what a crackpot this individual is.

It does’nt make any sense that the lifestyle is a choice. To hate homosexuals is backward thinking in my view. This hatred comes from childhood, the pressure to conform to the majority. Face it, more people more homosexuals. The few I’ve known are decent people, not sexual whores or child molesters. Love conquers hate.

    68. Feisty Old Broad says:

Well over a year ago, I posted this and I think it bears re-visiting:
      Washington’s Vision

In the National Tribune, 1880, an article appeared giving an account of the “Vision of Washington” at Valley Forge. The account was told by a gentleman named Anthony Sherman, who supposedly was at Valley Forge during the winter of 1777-78. The story has been published several times.

Some people will say that it is substantiated by the fact that a copy of the account is in the Library of Congress. This argument of authenticity is misleading in and of itself. The Library of Congress has copies of anything published. That does not indicate accuracy of the content.

I am unaware of any eighteenth-century evidence that corroborates this story. The soldier mentioned as having a first-hand account of the “Vision,” Anthony Sherman, was a soldier in the Continental Army. However, according to his pension application, written by him, he states that he was at Saratoga under the command of Benedict Arnold at the end of 1777 and only joined the main forces in 1778 in New Jersey just before the Battle of Monmouth.

      Anthony Sherman wrote:

You doubtless heard the story of Washington’s going to the thicket to pray in secret for aid and comfort from God, the interposition of whose Divine Providence brought us safely through the darkest days of tribulation. One day, I remember it well, when the chilly winds whistled through the leafless trees, though the sky was cloudless and the sun shown brightly, he remained in his quarters nearly all the afternoon alone. When he came out, I noticed that his face was a shade paler than usual. There seemed to be something on his mind of more than ordinary importance. Returning just after dusk, he dispatched an orderly to the quarters who was presently in attendance. After a preliminary conversation of about an hour, Washington, gazing upon his companion with that strange look of dignity which he alone commanded, related the event that occurred that day.

      “George Washington’s Vision”

This afternoon, as I was sitting at this table engaged in preparing a dispatch, something seemed to disturb me. Looking up, I beheld standing opposite me a singularly beautiful female. So astonished was I, for I had given strict orders not to be disturbed, that it was some moments before I found language to inquire the cause of her presence. A second, a third and even a fourth time did I repeat my question, but received no answer from my mysterious visitor except a slight raising of her eyes.

By this time I felt strange sensations spreading through me. I would have risen but the riveted gaze of the being before me rendered volition impossible. I assayed once more to address her, but my tongue had become useless, as though it had become paralyzed.

A new influence, mysterious, potent, irresistible, took possession of me. All I could do was to gaze steadily, vacantly at my unknown visitor. Gradually the surrounding atmosphere seemed as if it had become filled with sensations, and luminous. Everything about me seemed to rarefy, the mysterious visitor herself becoming more airy and yet more distinct to my sight than before. I now began to feel as one dying, or rather to experience the sensations which I have sometimes imagined accompany dissolution. I did not think, I did not reason, I did not move; all were alike impossible. I was only conscious of gazing fixedly, vacantly at my companion.

Presently I heard a voice saying, “Son of the Republic, look and learn,” while at the same time my visitor extended her arm eastwardly, I now beheld a heavy white vapor at some distance rising fold upon fold. This gradually dissipated, and I looked upon a stranger scene. Before me lay spread out in one vast plain all the countries of the world — Europe, Asia, Africa and America. I saw rolling and tossing between Europe and America the billows of the Atlantic, and between Asia and America lay the Pacific.

“Son of the Republic,” said the same mysterious voice as before, “look and learn.” At that moment I beheld a dark, shadowy being, like an angel, standing or rather floating in mid-air, between Europe and America. Dipping water out of the ocean in the hollow of each hand, he sprinkled some upon America with his right hand, while with his left hand he cast some on Europe. Immediately a cloud raised from these countries, and joined in mid-ocean. For a while it remained stationary, and then moved slowly westward, until it enveloped America in its murky folds. Sharp flashes of lightning gleamed through it at intervals, and I heard the smothered groans and cries of the American people.

A second time the angel dipped water from the ocean, and sprinkled it out as before. The dark cloud was then drawn back to the ocean, in whose heaving billows in sank from view. A third time I heard the mysterious voice saying, “Son of the Republic, look and learn,” I cast my eyes upon America and beheld villages and towns and cities springing up one after another until the whole land from the Atlantic to the Pacific was dotted with them.

Again, I heard the mysterious voice say, “Son of the Republic, the end of the century cometh, look and learn.” At this the dark shadowy angel turned his face southward, and from Africa I saw an ill omened specter approach our land. It flitted slowly over every town and city of the latter. The inhabitants presently set themselves in battle array against each other. As I continued looking I saw a bright angel, on whose brow rested a crown of light, on which was traced the word “Union,” bearing the American flag which he placed between the divided nation, and said, “Remember ye are brethren.” Instantly, the inhabitants, casting from them their weapons became friends once more, and united around the National Standard.

“And again I heard the mysterious voice saying “Son of the Republic, look and learn.” At this the dark, shadowy angel placed a trumpet to his mouth, and blew three distinct blasts; and taking water from the ocean, he sprinkled it upon Europe, Asia and Africa. Then my eyes beheld a fearful scene: From each of these countries arose thick, black clouds that were soon joined into one. Throughout this mass there gleamed a dark red light by which I saw hordes of armed men, who, moving with the cloud, marched by land and sailed by sea to America. Our country was enveloped in this volume of cloud, and I saw these vast armies devastate the whole county and burn the villages, towns and cities that I beheld springing up. As my ears listened to the thundering of the cannon, clashing of sword, and the shouts and cries of millions in mortal combat, I heard again the mysterious voice saying, “Son of the Republic, look and learn” When the voice had ceased, the dark shadowy angel placed his trumpet once more to his mouth, and blew a long and fearful blast. “Instantly a light as of a thousand suns shone down from above me, and pierced and broke into fragments the dark cloud which enveloped America. At the same moment the angel upon whose head still shone the word Union, and who bore our national flag in one hand and a sword in the other, descended from the heavens attended by legions of white spirits. These immediately joined the inhabitants of America, who I perceived were will nigh overcome, but who immediately taking courage again, closed up their broken ranks and renewed the battle.

Again, amid the fearful noise of the conflict, I heard the mysterious voice saying, “Son of the Republic, look and learn.” As the voice ceased, the shadowy angel for the last time dipped water from the ocean and sprinkled it upon America. Instantly the dark cloud rolled back, together with the armies it had brought, leaving the inhabitants of the land victorious!

Then once more I beheld the villages, towns and cities springing up where I had seen them before, while the bright angel, planting the azure standard he had brought in the midst of them, cried with a loud voice: “While the stars remain, and the heavens send down dew upon the earth, so long shall the Union last.” And taking from his brow the crown on which blazoned the word “Union,” he placed it upon the Standard while the people, kneeling down, said, “Amen.”

The scene instantly began to fade and dissolve, and I at last saw nothing but the rising, curling vapor I at first beheld. This also disappearing, I found myself once more gazing upon the mysterious visitor, who, in the same voice I had heard before, said, “Son of the Republic, what you have seen is thus interpreted: Three great perils will come upon the Republic. The most fearful is the third, but in this greatest conflict the whole world united shall not prevail against her. Let every child of the Republic learn to live for his God, his land and the Union.” With these words the vision vanished, and I started from my seat and felt that I had seen a vision wherein had been shown to me the birth, progress, and destiny of the United States.

@ braveheart. If everyone would red thumb you know who and send the worthless comments into oblivion I should would follow suit with everyone else. Whatever works! Never give it a green thumb again for anything. I am though sickened by the way the political correctness crap is overrunning this country. I have known a few homosexuals and they were with one person and did not engage in the bestiality that are orgies in which they go after anything the moves, human or beast or even some machine. They never bothered me and I did not ever condemn them because they never harmed anyone.

There are a huge number of deviants that are into these orgies that would rape a child faster than you could say pedophile because their minds are so totally warped into screwing and getting screwed by anything. Some insects are like this and you can see them trying to hump a piece of thread or something. Those that ever are in these orgies are fiends and are severely chemically imbalanced and very dangerous to children. They spread disease like a hospital bed pan does. These are the ones I want kids protected against. There are some homosexuals that would agree that protecting children from these ultimate preverts is of utmost importance.

Some people might think I was targeting that person about this. NO, I am just irritated at the country’s way of encouraging this satanic practice of pure animalistic sickness and the innocent ever being caught up in this evil. I bet you could remember when the welfare of children really and truly mattered and these weirdos were kept away from kids to protect them. Now these poor parents are under the pressure of being found guilty of discrimination if they keep their children away from these deviants. This is what is so upsetting to me, the unfairness of society allowing criminals to gain the upper hand over victims at every turn. A sad and rapidly decaying world isn’t it?

I don’t recall any other troll getting the amount of space in responses that eisen received this time. I think this set a record for the site. I’m just surprised Mac hasn’t intervened on this, which he certainly has a right to do. BI, this is going to sound silly, but as I’m typing this, I’m actually shedding tears for allowing eisen to consume me like this. Not in favor of banning anyone, but some websites limit comments to two a day by each poster. This may improve the quality of each comment.

Of course it would have to be done on the honor system, but the administrator could freeze IPs for “detention” period if the rule was consistently broken.

Yes, as a woman, I would worry about being trapped in a city during grid down, or other situations. I would not ever live there now, unless I was packing.

BTW, I think the reason almost no posts are about the article is its just too much for us to absorb. Too radical. Too different. So, most of us wouldn’t make it. The point of the article.
Oddly, that’s just like Jesus’ story since even the disciples who walked with him for three years never “got it” until after he died and was resurrected. I’m up north in a place that is rural, near a small town. I’ve made the decision to take my stand here. Although I am a couple hours from Canada, I will not be running for the border if something happens here.

I consider this my BOL. I made the decision about 7 years back to get out of California away from the big city. When I lived there, I wasn’t a prepper, nor was I really awake to anything around me. Just caught up in the daily grind of working all day. I started to feel an sense of uneasiness back in 2004 that continued to build each year until I left it all behind and came here. I just wanted to get away from the pressure that was building in my head, and in my life. I wanted to slow down.

It’s not easy for everyone to do what I did. I came up here with $3k. That’s all we had. My husband came up first to secure a rental house then my daughter and I came up on a bus to join him.

When I got up here, the sense of uneasiness was down to a dull roar. One day I happened upon the doomsday preppers show and it struck me, that we needed to start doing the same thing. Then i started reading survivalist forums, paying attention the world and waking up to reality. Got my husband on board and we haven’t looked back since.

Two people who used to be the most liberal anti gun people you could ever meet, changed over the years. If you knew me ten years ago, you wouldn’t recognize me now. I guess this is what happens when you wake up and see the realities.

Perhaps my being here provides a sense of false security, but I refuse to go on the run. I’ve put too many years and work into the place we have now.

I do think that now is the time to get the hell out of the cities if you can. I remember waking up in the morning back in the city, looking around and wondering what would happen to my family if we were trapped here.

When you pretend you are a ninja you try to take on a gang of thugs with a stick.

When you take on a gang of thugs with a stick they shove you off a cliff in a gunny sack.

Don’t get shoved off a cliff in a gunny sack by a gang of thugs.

Red thou.b trolls and move on.

      God Bless,
      NP

(Smokin Okie could have done that better.)

@ Norse Prepper. I so much rather talk about preparation or what is happening with the world. Having to defend myself and others has become most tiresome. I just hope that people like JayJay, Maudy Frickett and many others will do what they have been telling me and braveheart to just red thumb a parasite down and don’t encourage them by green thumbing them when they are on their good behavior. This includes several different parasites that add nothing to the betterment of the site and others. We need the support of everyone to take out the trash, at least 10 people to red thumb the parasites and no one else to green thumb them. A few people alone cannot collapse the trash into the dumpster, it takes a collective effort.

It is too bad any of us even have to be talking about this. We all should be on the same page trying to add to all of our survival wisdom. I for one am not going to be afraid to post a comment because I might offend a troll. This political correctness plague is something that really bothers me because it is overtaking the Constitution and our right to free speech over subject matters that bring out the truth about ugliness in the world like giving homosexual/bisexual weirdos a free ride to be pedophiles. Violations against children is a sure sign that the society has begun to die of cancer. What is so pathetic about this is that I was directing this disgust at society not any one person.

Anyway the Scotia plate is getting active again. The earthquake activity has still not died down. I am looking for a couple of new precursor quakes to get a better idea of what is to come and when. Hope all is well with you.

Good Grief BI give it a rest. Please stick with earthquake predictions. The fact is we don’t have a national language, national religion, or national gender. Even queer lesbo homo schizoid trolls are permitted to practice their first admendment rights. And the reason those rights shouldn’t be violated because we are a republic. Not a Mob rule Democracy. A republic and that means the rights of the few can not be infringed by the wishes of the many. Even if the few is just one person and the many is everyone else. until that person does something unlawful they are allowed & entitled all of their constitional freedoms. Even the freedom to yank peoples chain on this or any other forum. Im very liberal when it comes to freedoms of religion , first admendment rights ect. We have a member of our family who is Gay. That person in my opinion was born that way. It was obvious when they where a small toddler. That person is a good productive citizen and unlike most of my kin I actually like them. Many of my kin if they weren’t related to me I wouldn’t give them the time of day. As far as religion not all christens are good and not all muslims are bad. I can tolerate anyones right to practice their preferred religion as long as they don’t violate others rights. Seperation of church & state is paramount if we are to remain free. So Even though you have the counstional right to do so. I would suggest not posting rants about gender preference & religion preference ect. It makes you appear to be kinda nuts! Use you gift of earthquake knowledge to share with us. just thumbs down those post you don’t like. what have you to gain by besting a idiot? Why give anyone free rent in your head? Ill not post on this subject again. Don’t reply just give it a thumbs up or down.

@ old guy. I will respond to this. I will do what is best for the site and others and follow the red thumb and green thumb protocol. I though am very upset about what is happening to the country in regard to how victims are treated second class to the criminal in all forms of the law of the U.S. I see this police state in europe that use to be the western free world counterbalancing the USSR and its satellite states. I see this occurring right now in the U.S. and this is very disturbing and I sometimes would like to address this. I hope you don’t take offense to this.

              • old guy says:

Ive got thick skin. not easily offended. I posted before we are on the cusp of change. What we see occurring right now in the US isn’t really anything new. Its simply that its happening to the counstition loving middle class patriot type folks. We now know exactly how the disposed five civilized tribes forced to walk the trail of tears felt. We now know how the plains Indians forced unto the reseverations felt. We now know how the southern Calif Hacienda owners felt when the US courts declared their land grants invalid. the hard fact the Making producer fiscally responsible so called middle class blue collar worker is no longer wanted or needed by those at the top. They now want the brown folks from below our southern borders. We are domed to extinction because we never will make good reliable Peons. Those Peons allow the corrupt govt & police states where they come from. They will allow It here. I really hope my doom & gloom assessment is wrong but I think not?
