People better start waking up and paying attention to what is happening in the Middle East, because the situation is becoming quite serious.  If things go badly, we could be facing a major regional war which would involve not only Saudi Arabia and Iran, but also potentially the United States and Israel. Yesterday, I quoted an article in the New York Times that warned that tensions between the Saudis and the Iranians were raising “the threat of a direct military clash between the two regional heavyweights”. And now Jake Novak of CNBC is saying that a “direct conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran, as opposed to the proxy war they’re fighting in Yemen, looks inevitable.”

I put those last two words in bold so that there wouldn’t be any confusion. In fact, Novak is warning that the Saudis “are marching ever closer towards a wider regional war”. Novak understands the dynamics of the Middle East, and he realizes where things could be headed if cooler heads do not prevail.

Saudi Arabia and Iran have already been fighting proxy wars against one another in Syria and Iran for quite a while, but a direct military conflict between the two could literally be a nightmare scenario.

One of the primary characters in this ongoing drama is Saudi Arabia’s extremely hawkish crown prince Mohammed bin Salman. He hates Iran with a passion, and he has already said that he believes that a peace dialogue with Iran is impossible.

And over the past several days, events in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon have moved talk of war to the front burner

First, the kingdom squarely blamed Iran for a missile attack on Riyadh from Yemen that was thwarted by the U.S.-made Patriot anti-missile system. The Saudis called that attack “direct military aggression by the Iranian regime and may be considered an act of war.”

Second, the Saudis accused Lebanon of — figuratively at least — declaring “war” against it because of aggression from Hezbollah. That statement spurred even Saudi ally and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to publicly urge for calm.

In an article yesterday, I discussed the “purge” that is currently taking place in Saudi Arabia. Many believe that this purge is all about removing any potential obstacles to a war with Iran. Mohammed bin Salman and his father have made dealing with Iran their number one strategic priority, and they have even enlisted the Israelis as allies in their cause…

As is already well-known, the Saudi and Israeli common cause against perceived Iranian influence and expansion in places like Syria, Lebanon and Iraq of late has led the historic bitter enemies down a pragmatic path of unspoken cooperation as both seem to have placed the break up of the so-called “Shia crescent” as their primary policy goal in the region. For Israel, Hezbollah has long been its greatest foe, which Israeli leaders see as an extension of Iran’s territorial presence right up against the Jewish state’s northern border.

If Saudi Arabia and Iran go to war, it is probably inevitable that Hezbollah will strike Israel at the same time, thus getting the Israelis directly involved in the conflict.

Not only that, if a major regional war does erupt in the Middle East it would almost certainly mean that the U.S. would have to get involved as well. Here is more from Jake Novak of CNBC

But if full blown war breaks out directly between the two countries, it’s hard to see the U.S. being able to sit it out without at least some form increased weapons support and other aid. Then it will be up to Iran’s possible allies, like Russia and China to make the next move.

If you are thinking that this sounds like the type of scenario that could cause World War III to erupt, you would be correct.

The Iranians and the Saudis both have weapons of mass destruction, and so a direct conflict between the two would seem to be unthinkable.

But rational thinking does not always prevail in the Middle East. The conflict between Sunni Islam and Shia Islam has a long and bitter history, and the bad blood between the Saudis and the Iranians is never going to subside until one side or the other ultimately prevails.

Let us hope that a “hot war” between Saudi Arabia and Iran does not erupt any time soon, because such a war would not be good for the United States whatsoever. Pretty much every scenario that you can imagine ends with enormous numbers of innocent people dead, and such a conflict could ultimately be the spark that sets off World War III.

All part of the Greater Israel Project. Endless wars and invasions. Remember there is still Lebanon and Iran off of the list Wesley Clark unveiled a few years ago. If it goes, it’ll be regional, then sudden WWIII erupts.

All planned out, to keep the $petro going and steal the oil.

Russia coming to the rescue of Syria has resulted in Iran/Russia/Syria/Lebanon putting a northern border on both Israel & Saudia Arabia Neither will allow that since they can get the USA to slaughter American kids and they can make money on it.Yemen eliminated any move south which is not acceptable. Egypt is a Russian alley and they learned in 1967 & 1973 not to trust the other guys.
I fear war & lots of our kids will never enjoy their youth while a group will end up very rich on their graves

  2. Frank Thoughts says:

This is where I disagree: A major war in the Middle East, the shia/sunni thing, would be good for the world and would be very good for America. Here is why:

    1) Do not talk about innocent people when you talk about Muslims. Both sides are filth bags and have been the sources of terrorism worldwide for decades. A lot fewer of these people would be no great loss to humanity. And it would be fewer refugees since they would not be alive in the first place.

    2) Weapons sales: America is the world leader on advanced weaponary and the sales would go through the roof.

    3) Most of the Middle East is an uninhabitable wasteland. Fighting a major war on it would not be major bad for the planet.

    4) Islam contributes very little to global culture, science and education/innovation. A war there would not hold back humanity in any serious way.

    5) A major regional war in the ME would act as a blocker to the millions of Africans using the area as a jumping off point to getting to Europe.

    6) Israel: if Israel plays its cards right (and it will) then it will be the regional leader at the end of such a war. Israel as the regional leader will be good for the West and for freedom and civilization.

    7) There is already a population explosion in the region that is overwhelming the environment. Most of the governments have no idea what to do with their people. A war would bring down the population, and as is the case with Syria, conflict tends to make it hard to have thriving families.

In short, this is the war we have wished for for decades and let’s hope it does happen.

The problem is they do not do the fighting. They send their cannon fodder aka American kids to die. Israel has not been in a conflict with an organized military since 1973. It will be interesting to what if by some some chance they get caught on the front line & cannot get the USA troops in front of them.

Saudi Arabia go to war with anybody, will get their ass whipped. Look at Yemen. A third world country holding off a country militarily supplied by the U.S. I think their army is made up of foreigners.

    • The Deplorable Braveheart says:

Southside, the Saudis would be better off backing of from Yemen altogether. That place is Afghanistan Junior. Supposedly the US, Saudis, and UAE have a naval blockade on Yemen’s ports but still allow Iranian cargo vessels to in and out of those ports with impunity. The Iranian vessels supposedly travel with naval escorts. I’ll bet our Navy has been under standing orders not to interfere with the Iranian cargo vessels going back to Obama. Don’t be surprised if those orders get changed under Trump.

      Not just foreigners, but mercenaries.

I’m not Biblically knowledgeable but isn’t this nation the line up of Armageddon?

    • Anonymous says:

In the Old Testament, Ezekiel 38 describes a battle (which has yet to take place in history),
and names the nations involved by their ancient names. this is the supposed forerunner
before Armageddon takes place. Kind of a mini-Armageddon that later leads to it.

  5. The Deplorable Braveheart says:

Kevin2, from what I can recall of the Bible I think it is part of the lineup. The lineup is taking shape as we speak and is only a matter of time before something happens.

  6. Old Guy says:

So we wake up and start paying attention. Then what? There isn’t anything we common citizens could do to stop the out of control headed to hell UN and NWO Agenda. I will feel sorry for anyone who willingly joined the military thinking they are protecting the American freedoms and are in fact nothing more than cannon fodder for the UN &NWO.

  7. aljamo says:

Left out the true evil in the middle east, you know the one driving 100% of the murderous activity while being openend funded by the American people. The evil side has been identified as the US, Great Britain, Israel and Saudi Arabia, all in on 9-11. These are the war on Iran screamers. These are our dire enemies.

  8. The Deplorable Braveheart says:

I wish the US would just get out of the ME and the rest of the world. Bring all the troops home. We have problems at home to take care of. Let the other nations blow themselves up.

  9. the blame-e says:

What’s the matter? Not enough super volcanoes to report on?

  10. the indep[endent says:

  12. Anonymous says:

Yeah, of course, the US will become involved– they already are– they did a false flag to kick things off.

The US and Saudi Arabia have a long-standing deal is: the Saudis agree to ONLY sell their oil in petrodollars– on behalf of the US– and in turn, we agree to protect their interests, militarily. Basically, we are their military — we use our military on their behalf.

Furthermore, I just read how the US blasted Japan (Hiroshima) in order to see how well nuclear bombs would work. A few weeks later, it was US strategy to bomb USSR off the face of the earth with nuclear bombs– it was their plan but they cancelled. The USSR knew about it and that’s why they started their nuclear program.

If you think how the US committed genocide against American Indians and figured, “that was easy!” its easy to see how they just decided to it to everyone else as well…

“I wish we would get out and take care of problems back home”

      Sure.

      Day 1: We get out.
Day 2: Price of gasoline is $50 per gallon
Day 3: People stop transporting groceries

      Let the hilarity commence.

We needs us some Thorium reactors. THEN MAYBE we MIGHT be able to get out-ish…

  14. Tennessean says:

I fear we are overlooking the oil issue. If 1/4 of the crude oil production disappears, the economic effect will be disastrous for the global economy. As well as for the USA economy. We all know we have Biblical bubbles in our equity markets, our bond markets, and real estate markets. Such a jump in oil prices would surely pop all these in an explosive fashion. Might be time to buy some US and Canadian oil producers as a serious hedge. We’ve some 150 gallons of stabilized diesel for our farm work. In three separate stashes, mind you.

Those of you who have read Cresson Kearny’s NWSS know that lower yield ground bursts produce a lot of fallout which would contaminate areas to the east of the Persian Gulf. And some of it would circle the planet to drop on the USA. Read Kearny’s chapter on “Trans Pacific Fallout” if you doubt this.

http://www.zerohedge.com has good coverage of this. I also suggest going to http://www.primetimeshortwave.com and downloading the list of English language s/w broadcasts. You are able to get a list by time or by country. I suggest doing both an printing out a hard copy. Data are from the last of October so it should reflect the fall changeover of frequencies that occurs in the fall and spring.

    take care, you-uns…

  15. rellik says:

Iran and Saudi Arabia do not share a common border.
They must invade Iraq in order to get armies from one place to the other. I’m not sure how that will play out.
Only America keeps a large force designed to make large scale Amphibious assaults. Not too many other countries could pull that off.
Iran can shoot lots of missiles, but Saudi Arabia can put a lot of bombs on target.
America will keep the oil flowing or Europe is screwed. We really don’t need ME oil, we can make do with
other sources, but Europe has few other choices.
It could get interesting. Personally I like some of Frank T’s
points. It would be great to see the ME Moslems decimate themselves.
I don’t think we are seeing the beginning of Armageddon.
It is more of a ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure
on the Saudi’s part. They are going to box Iran in, before they can’t.

  16. The war in question will be in Lebanon mostly. The Israelis’ are already poaching Lebanese gas fields in the Mediterranean. The war is going to be over a pipeline (again). A natural gas pipeline to Europe. The excuse for the war will be that Hezbollah is a terrorist organization. Ignore the fact that ISIS, Al Qaeda and Al Nusra are our terrorists. During the last war in Lebanon the Israelis actually got run out of the country by Hezbollah. It was a war of attrition. The Israelis paid Christians to form the South Lebanon Army (SLA). The SLA fought for Israel during the war. When Israel left, they abandoned the SLA. This war will have the possibility to get bigger and involve more players. Gas will go up at the pump and the economy will take a hit because of this.

Somebody told me that we have no minesweepers. If Iran mines the shit out of the Strait Of
Hormuz. Tanker traffic will come to a halt. Of course if there is conflict in that area, tanker
traffic would cease anyways. I think one of the first orders of business would be to missile
strike all of the Iranian naval bases and blow up the pesky machine gun armed speedboats.
We need to find all of their subs and take those out as well. The Suez canal would be an
Iranian target. Even if they have no quarrel with Egypt, they know the importance of that.

  19. Traitor Hator says:

Seems the only way to save first world America. Is to turn everything off and purge the third world types? The no go zones are growing.

  20. Richard Steven Hack says:

Saudi Arabia isn’t going to start a war with Iran. Primarily because, despite SA’s buying hundreds of billions of weapons from the US, their military is the suck. They have zero competence – other than bombing civilians in Yemen from the air. They can’t even defeat the Houthis. They have zero chance of defeating Iran.

Iran has several hundred Intermediate Range Ballistic Missiles with reasonably decent targeting capability. They could destroy the Saudi oil fields and the Saudi Gulf ports that service all the heavy oil tankers.

There’s zero chance Saudi Arabia could invade Iraq to get to Iran. The reverse is not necessarily true, although I doubt Iran would try it.

No, what is at stake here is Lebanon and Syria. Israel can’t start a war with Iran until both Syria and Hizballah military capabilities have been degraded.

The Syria crisis was intended to enable the US/NATO to bomb Syria’s military into the Stone Age like they did Libya. That plan failed when Russia intervened to prevent a US “no fly zone” in fall, 2015. When Obama considered it again in 2016, Russia explicitly said that anyone attacking Syria’s military would be shot down. Obama backed off.

The primary opponent of Israel is Hizballah in Lebanon. They have enough missiles to put all of Israel inside bomb shelters 124×7 which would cost the Israeli economy dearly. Israel needs those missiles taken out before it can start a war with Iran.

Israel tried doing it itself in 2006 and failed miserably. Hizballah now is MUCH stronger than it was in 2006, as a result of many more missile deliveries from Iran and its increased combat experience in the Syria cival war.

So now Israel wants the US to attack Hizballah or at least directly support a new Israeli attack. This is why Congress passed new sanctions on Hizballah. This is also why Israel and Saudi Arabia have colluded to remove Hariri from office in Lebanon in an effort to start another civil war there.

    Quote

“The classified embassy cable, written in Hebrew, constitutes the first formal evidence proving that the Saudis and Israelis are deliberately coordinating to escalate the situation in the Middle East.

The explosive classified Israeli cable reveals the following:

On Sunday, just after Lebanese PM Hariri’s shocking resignation, Israel sent a cable to all of its embassies with the request that its diplomats do everything possible to ramp up diplomatic pressure against Hezbollah and Iran.

The cable urged support for Saudi Arabia’s war against Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.

The cable stressed that Iran was engaged in “regional subversion”.

Israeli diplomats were urged to appeal to the “highest
officials” within their host countries to attempt to expel Hezbollah from Lebanese government and politics. “”

    SouthFront and Zero Hedge

    End Quote

So the next war will be between Hizballah in Lebanon (and possibly Syria) against Israel and possibly the US.

The question is: What will Russia and Iran do? I believe that is Israel attacks Syria that Russia will help defend Syria. However, Russia can’t be seen to be supporting a “terrorist group” like Hizballah and Russia has no particular brief for supporting Lebanon like they do in Syria. So Russia may stay out of it.

Iran will certainly support Hizballah in Lebanon but they can only do that via logistical support. They won’t attack Israel for Hizballah’s benefit.

So the issue will boil down to whether a US bombing campaign against Hizballah in Lebanon in support of Israel is likely. If the Israelis can produce a “pretext” for US support they can probably get Trump to go along with it. But this current “Hizballah missile from Yemen” nonsense isn’t going to cut it because too many people know it’s complete nonsense.

Make no mistake. Even if the US joins Israel in attacking Lebanon, it’s likely that Israel will lose again or at least achieve only moderate success.

Also make no mistake that the goal of Israel is war with Iran with the US doing all the heavy lifting for Israel. But if the US attacks Iran, it will eventually lose because Iran will never surrender.

  21. watching and waiting says:

I have read previous articles, not on this site articles that some writers believe The Saudi’s are going to get embarrassed and humiliated by Iran.
Be defeated and lose control of some oil fields and possibility the sites they claim is holy.

In 1991, when Hussein invaded Kuwait and they thought they were next on the menu, they screamed to high heaven for help.

They are going to scream again because I remember what 19 of them did on 9-11.

However, if The Saudi’s do lose some of their oil fields, I suppose that it will effect in a bad way the cost of fuel in the U.S.

But then again, a vast oil and gas field has been discovered off the coast of Israel, perhaps we could do business with them? I read that enough oil had been discovered to power that country for 100 years.

    Anything is possible

  22. Saudi Arabia has major internal problems right now. The war in Lebanon will mostly be fought by Israel and probably US air and naval assets. The war is about another pipeline. That pipeline is intended to hurt the Russian economy. This causes me to think that Russia will have a major stake in the outcome of the war. Hezbollah is Israel’s concern. Hezbollah is Iran’s asset. Conflict. It’s complicated.

  23. Kmack says:

The only thing I disagree with is the refugee issue. As it stands now, if the flow of refugees are cut off by war as you suggest, Europe’s culture is being quickly and irrevocably replaced by Muslims. Currently the average birth rate in European countries is far less than the 2.2 children per family needed to sustain a culture. Muslims are having in excess of 8 children per family. This firmly establishes Islam as the predominant culture by roughly 2050. So even with war the damage has been done and the die cast.

    • Frank Thoughts says:

By stoking a major regional war in the Middle East, and recruiting as mercenaries European Muslims (as we have already been doing with ISIS etc.), this could draw them out of Europe into the Middle East and then eventually death in combat. Close to a million died in the futile war between Iran and Iraq. That war messed up the demographics in both countries, leaving many women without husbands and resorting to the sex trade. We can do that with the region as a whole and get birth rates down substantially. A regional war would mean trying to cross borders from Africa would be highly dangerous and unpleasant and most wouldn’t do it.
