New Data: Yellowstone Supervolcano STRAINED, Magma Chamber Under Immense Pressure

According to a group of seismologists who are monitoring the potentially catastrophic supervolcano, Yellowstone is “under strain.” This new report has reignited fears that the caldera could erupt at any moment.

Experts were alerted to the volcano’s strain after noticing deformation. This process, where subsurface rocks subtly change shapes, is occurring beneath the surface of Yellowstone right now. Researchers state deformation occurs when there is a change in the amount of pressure in the magma chamber and experts are keeping an eye on the development.

Seismologists from UNAVCO, a non-profit university-governed consortium, are using “Global Positioning System (GPS), borehole tiltmeters, and borehole strainmeters” to measure minute changes in deformation at Yellowstone. In an article for the Billings Gazette, David Mencin and Glen Mattioli, geodesists with UNAVCO, say “the strain signal is larger than would be expected if the crust under Yellowstone were completely solid.”

“What that means, at least in their eyes, is that there’s lava flowing that’s allowing pressure to build in the chamber,” says Joe Joseph of The Daily Sheeple.  “I don’t know if this is good or bad!”

These independent observations agree with other instruments at Yellowstone, like seismometers, that indicate a zone of semi-molten rock starting about 3 miles beneath the surface. The term “semi-molten” is used because the entire zone contains only between 5 and 15 percent liquid rock that occupies small pockets of space between the solid rock.

But the scientists want to assure the public that these observations are no cause for alarm. “Of course, they’re always gonna say that,” says Joseph. “It’s about 700,000 years ago they say when it erupted and it’s long overdue. So here we are, Yellowstone, yet again, thrust into the news because of some of this new data coming out…,” Joseph said.

If the Yellowstone volcano nestled mostly in  Wyoming were to erupt, an estimated 87,000 people would be killed immediately and two-thirds of the USA would instantly be made uninhabitable.  The large spew of ash into the atmosphere would block out sunlight and directly affect life beneath it creating a “nuclear winter.”

Is this a cause for alarm? Maybe, maybe not. But it’s interesting this new Yellowstone information is coinciding with news that a pole reversal is near, the Ring of Fire is waking up, and the sun is approaching its solar minimum which could cause a mini ice age.

I’m excited, and looking forward to my new surroundings. ~~~ ツ

      • Heartless says:

Yeah Menob. If it does blow – it’ll sure open up a lot of opportunities to right things here. I usually shy from such articles – too many ‘what if this happened?’ things (asteroids, aliens, 2nd coming…. ); but, there’s some validity to this particular science concerning Yellowstone. ‘Course, just ‘when’ is the issue.

    4. Sean says:

The last worldwide catastrophic eruption of a volcano was the 500-600 AD or so eruption of Krakatoa, in Indonesia. It caused crops to fail in the Byzantine Empire, and all other sorts of mischief. the 1883 eruption of the same volcano killed thousands. Just because the Wyoming Caldera hasn’t had a big eruption doesn’t mean it won’t. Some reasonable preps to help you and your family to be able to handle an emergency like that would be a good idea. Not panic time, just measured preparations for a situation, should it happen. The idea of not being in a panic is, level heads will prevail during times of stress.

    5. Wyoming Resident says:

This is all bullshit designed to give a manufactured explanation to a possible future totally man-made false-flag event.

Much like a pimple, immense pressures always find a way to escape, especially when there are already passages leading to the surface. Yellowstone park is replete with natural vents as indicated with hot springs.

Keep allowing “scientists” to dick around with nature and what you’ll get is a planted nuclear weapon made to simulate a natural phenomenon at some point in the future.

Let’s not forget who we’re dealing with; the Deep State.

    10. American Chestnut says:

Yep, If I lived in Wyoming I wouldn’t want to think about it either. Its coming. Might be in a year, or 10 or 10K…. but its coming.

      • Mountain Trekker says:

AC I live right out the door from Yellowstone and I don’t have time to think about the Super Volcano because I’m to busy worrying about Global Warming, besides if she blows, Wyoming will be the best place to be, because the way the wind blows out here none of it will even touch the ground until it gets South Dakota. Clark Wy. just had wind gust of 90mph. Trekker Out

        • Yuri says:

I can’t tell if you’re being facetious or not.

In the event of a large super-eruption, almost everyone in Wyoming will die. Not to mention most of Idaho and Montana, and the northern halves of Colorado and Utah. Beyond that, your odds depend on how fast you leave where you are … wherever you are, … in CONUS.

Taking longer-term effects into account, the death toll would probably be somewhere around 3/4 of humanity dead inside of five years. On a scale of cataclysms, only a nearby supernova, a direct-hit gamma-ray burst, and a very large meteor would top it.

Nevertheless, we’re still much more likely to have heart attacks or strokes after living into our 90’s. Everybody dies sometime; and, anyway, Wyoming may be the best place to be if it does erupt.

They all go POP now and then. The plant is still growing.
      Sgt.

    12. Yuri says:

They (those who hype these things) don’t say much about it, but just because it’s a super-volcano doesn’t mean it has to erupt in a super-eruption. Apparently it can have (and has had) smaller, more “normal” sized eruptions.

On the other hand, there may be hype about the likelihood of a super-eruption, but there is no hyping the effects of one.

If there is a super-eruption, everyone is pretty well screwed. Those in surrounding states will die … period. Those somewhat farther away had best boogie down to South America (by boat) ASAP.

One thing I’ve learned about volcanoes is that
      they aren’t very predictable.
There is so much Haze from my local volcano,
I can barely see the ocean today.

I’m going to go and work on my new rototiller.
New to me, it is 14 years old and has not run
in a while. I got in a barter trade. I just
cleared another 1/4 acre and plant to put
      in potatoes, beans, and carrots.

My chickens are starting to lay, Now I have to figure
out what to do with 16 or so eggs per day.

What is my point? I live near 2 active volcanoes and
life goes on, till it doesn’t.
