John Bolton: National Debt Is An ‘Economic Threat’ To The US

In an incredibly obvious statement, National Security Advisor John Bolton has declared the high level of national debt an “economic threat” to the United States. Unless you have been living under a rock for the past ten years, you know that statement is not only true but obvious.

Bolton claimed that the national debt is a big problem and tackling it requires significant cuts to the government’s discretionary spending, while most other economic experts say entitlement spending is the biggest concern. According to Bloomberg, Bolton was quoted as saying: “It is a fact that when your national debt gets to the level ours is, that it constitutes an economic threat to the society. And that kind of threat ultimately has a national security consequence for it.”

Discretionary spending is set by Congress each year, while spending on entitlements is twice as large and more automatic, generally dictated by demand for the services. Many budget experts say entitlement spending presents a larger long-term threat to the U.S. economy because of both its magnitude and increasing demand from an aging population. –Bloomberg

Bolton made his comments while speaking Wednesday at an event hosted by the Alexander Hamilton Society in Washington. He also said he expects the United States’ defense spending “to flatten out” in the near term and that even though entitlement spending is the bigger chunk of government expenditures, he didn’t anticipate major cuts to entitlements such as Medicare and Social Security.

“In the near term, the budget deficit problem is in the discretionary spending,” Bolton said. “The entitlements come in a few years and that problem’s going to have to be addressed. But right now, you can have significant impact on both the deficit and the national debt by cutting government spending on the discretionary programs.”

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office forecasts the budget gap will reach $973 billion in fiscal 2019 and exceed $1 trillion the next year. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. predicts the deficit will reach $1 trillion and $1.125 trillion respectively. The national debt and household debt stand to be a very real threat to both the enotire globe and the standard way of life in America.

Oh now this murderer is an economist. Stick to what you know best Bolton, that being lies and murder. What a farsical piece of devious crap. A sorry excuse for a human being. Rehashed misery.

    • The Deplorable Renegade says:

Aljamo, I was thinking the same thing. Bolton would wage war against his own mother if he found a reason to do so. So now he’s an ECONOMIST? GMAFB!

    • durangokidd says:

“Bolton claimed that the national debt is a big problem and tackling it requires significant cuts to the government’s discretionary spending, while most other economic experts say entitlement spending is the biggest concern.”

The NWO LSM (most other economic experts) has been telling Americans that we have been living beyond our means for decades. THAT’S A FUCKING LIE !!!

The truth is much more nefarious than that. The NWO / DEEP STATE who has controlled the Oval Office for thirty years has spent a TRILLION dollars a year funding their Global Agenda with American Taxpayer funds.

China costs the US TAXPAYER $400 billion a year; ILLEGALS %400 billion a year; the EU $160 billion a year; Mexico $125 billion a year; and Canada $25 billion a year. Direct Foreign Aid costs another $25 billion a year to all other countries.

      Add it up.

Multiply the sum of those numbers by 30 years and you see the REAL REASON why Americans are saddled with an obscene amount of National Debt: all spent to further the NWO AGENDA.

Hang the MFKRS responsible !!! 🙂

    • Southpaw says:

And who picked psycho-man Bolton? ANSWER: Trump.

      • durangokidd says:

Actually it was another BRILLIANT move by TRUMP during negotiations with NK. Kim recognized that Bolton is a NWO Neocon Warmonger and immediately ceased his provocations, knowing that Bolton would be whispering in TRUMP’S ear whenever Mattis wasn’t around: “DESTROY NORTH KOREA !!!”

As POTUS its always wise to have many voices and differing points of view from your advisors making their most persuasive arguments to support the opinions give.

Bottom line: TRUMP makes the decisions and TRUMP does not want war if a suitable Agreement can be reached. 🙂

    WAR IS HELL, BOOMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    FREEDOM ISNT FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Anonymous says:

Eisen, you are a sick little blowhard. Who do you think fought & died for your freedom? All boomers have bigger balls than you ever will. Crawl back under your rock & hopefully overdose on your low ‘T’ drugs.

    • izzy says:

  3. Yep. Tax breaks for the rich and then say we have to make cuts to everyone else.

  4. Kevin2 says:

Mr Bolton wouldn’t hesitate a nano second to champion a multi trillion dollar war for the globalists.

    What a hypocrite.

This guy makes Trump look bad

  5. The Deplorable Renegade says:

JAS, kick all the foreigners and other freeloaders off the programs and that would save a very nice bundle. ENTITLEMENT spending? No one is entitled to anything.

  6. Anonymous says:

The debt can easily be paid off by simply having the Treasury, at the direction of Congress, issue interest free United States Dollars to pay the interest bearing Federal Reserve Notes off.

  7. That's what I'm talking About says:

HEY JOHN BUTT-head, I can not see how you can call social security an entitlement. I,have worked hard all my life and payed into social system as most all have done so. S#%% heads like you spend the allocated social security funds to advance your war programs.

    • Eyes of Horus says:

Bolton isn’t the only one calling Social Security an “entitlement.” All of Congress agrees with this. Once Social Security was moved into the General Fund by Johnson it became an entitlement. This made all of its monies available to Congress to abuse at their own discretion. Boy, have they been doing just that!

  8. rellik says:

Social security and medicare is not an entitlement. I earned it as I paid into them during 40 years of work.

    • Jim in Va. says:

You and I both rellik and I hope to collect for years.

    • out_of_time says:

Right there with you rellik, but you have to admit, both programs are essentially insolvent. The Ponzi scheme that they both are under are in their final days. Something has to change (but don’t leave it up to the war monger… Oh, I mean “economist”).
      Here’s a thought:
Give EVREYONE back the money they have paid in over the years PLUT INTEREST (compounded quarterly? at 4%? – pick a number) and END both programs.

      • Jim in Va. says:

The politicians raided the fund for their own purposes. They aren’t worried about us or whether we’ll make it. That money was in a lockbox for us. Same thing for the Transportation fund…it was raided also.

    • nexus321 says:

Very true. But it has been raided by the Congress critters to spend on other shit. Same has happened in other countries.

  9. Desertrat says:

Gee! Even a Bolton can be sorta right, on occasion. Oh, well, blind hogs and acorns…

  10. en-ti-tle-ment: NOUN. The fact of having a right to something.

Yes, social security and medicare are entitlements. We worked and paid in all our lives and we are entitled to the payout…or so we think.

TANF, SSI, Medicaid, CHIP, WIC, EBT, SNAP, LIHEAP, EWG and USDA farm subsidies, etc., etc. are not entitlements as the definition states. Language and meanings are constantly being perverted on purpose to keep the people confused.

    • That's what I'm talking About says:

JRS, well stated and 100% correct on definition of entitlement. Thank you.

    • rellik says:

You correct, however Merriam Websters has three definitions for entitlement. The one most people think of in the government context is,
“a government program providing benefits to members of a specified group”.
English is a context sensitive language. That’s why people better at English than me can so twist and mangle how we communicate.
      Have a good one!

    • Anonymous says:

SS and Medicare are entitlements only to those who have paid into them, not for those that did not.

Like disbursements from you 401k or pension fund are entitlements only to those that paid for them and not for those that didn’t.

  11. Mrbud says:

. Once the interest on the debt takes a large enough proportion of current tax revenues, it will be game over. These assholes wasted trillions the last two decades and put us in the mess the country is in.

  12. john stiner says:

cuts to the government’s discretionary spending

    Thats racists!!

  13. In a time where our former work was paid with a promise of future wages, social security payments, we can all be robbed so easily.

I know that no one is safe under a criminal system like the former Soviets who murdered and raped. It was law under the bosheviks to give sex to any commissar who demands sex from any woman. Marriage was outlawed. That is the future that is being created.

Black slaves had more rights in the United States than the Christians in Russia. White people are not the bad guys. White people are the victims of the criminals who are now in power.

Living on a homestead is no guarantee against this criminal elite. But it is a temporary distance put between the system, technology, and supply chain.

The Soviets did not like the Christian moral, independence of the ukraine, so they locked them in and starved them to death, millions of Ukrainians were murdered by starvation.

So, no independent off grid life is no guarantee of freedom from criminals. But, it is a way to eat if the criminals cut off social security payments, or just mishandle the figures in the imaginary numbers game we call digital currency.

__ $ just vanished off the screen. I have no idea why.

__ is this what you get for posting ?

_ I wonder how much time before the USA suffers the abuses of former Empires.

$37 screws, a $7,622 coffee maker, $640 toilet seats; : suppliers to our military just won’t be oversold

  15. Eyes of Horus says:

I wonder if Bolton realizes that the National Debt comes from the interest the government pays to the Federal Reserve for borrowing our own money? Without the Federal Reserve there would be no National Debt. You’ve figured out the solution by now.

  16. Eyes of Horus says:

I wonder if Bolton is aware that the National Debt is based on the interest that the federal government pays to the Federal Reserve for borrowing our own tax money from them? The solution to relieving us of this mind boggling and restrictive debt is quite obvious. The Federal Reserve is a private organization whose sole purpose is to make money for its 300 members. But politicians won’t have a fear-inducing rallying point with which to attempt to garner votes if the Fed is disbanded.
