Iran Claims Successful Missile Launch, The US Says It Didn’t Happen

The nation of Iran is claiming that they successfully launched a missile, but the United States disagrees. US intelligence officials said there was “no indication” Iran launched a medium-range ballistic missile.

Word of the alleged launch surfaced on Friday as Iran claimed a missile launch was successful.

Multiple news outlets reported on Monday that the launch was faked. According to CNN, US intelligence radars and sensors “picked up no indication” of an Iranian ballistic missile launch in the days surrounding a reported test, according to a Trump administration official familiar with the latest US assessment.

Iranian reports that the nation tested a new ballistic missile so far does not appear to be true, the official said, adding: “As far as we can see, it did not happen.” State-run broadcaster Press TV reported the launch on Saturday, according to footage broadcast on Iranian state television. “Iran has released footage of the successful test-launch of its new ballistic missile, Khorramshahr, a few hours after it was unveiled during a military parade in the capital city of Tehran,” Press TV said.

The video footage of the purported missile was over seven months old, Fox News said. This is the same period in which the Iranians conducted a failed launch where a missile exploded prematurely. The country was reportedly claiming that they were testing the Khorramshahr medium-range ballistic missile, a missile that has been reported to share similarities with North Korea’s counterpart, the Hwasong-10 when it exploded after traveling 600 miles.

Iran did not include the location or date of the launch at the time it released the footage. “I am not sure why the Iranians are lying about the range,” a US official told Fox News. “I think they don’t want to piss the Europeans off.”

President Donald Trump has been an outspoken critic of Iran’s missile program. He blasted the alleged missile activity on Twitter just days after he criticized the Iran nuclear deal. “Iran just test-fired a Ballistic Missile capable of reaching Israel. They are also working with North Korea,” Trump tweeted on Saturday. “Not much of an agreement we have!”

Of course, Iran maintains that their tests were “solely defensive,” as Iranian President Hassan Rouhani delivered a speech before the UN. “We never threaten anyone, but we do not tolerate threats from anyone,” Rouhani said on Wednesday. Rouhani also threatened to act “decisively and resolutely” if Trump pulled the US out of the Iran deal; a decision that Trump says has been “decided,” yet he would not reveal what that decision is.

Although Iran was encouraged not to conduct ballistic missile tests in the UN Security Council’s resolution, it was only “called upon not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles” — a discrepancy that has allowed Iran to merely violate the spirit of the agreement when it conducts its ballistic missile tests.

Since 2015, Iran has conducted over 20 missile tests.

It may not have happened this time; but, if anything North Korea has proven is that practice makes perfect. Or at least, improvement. Preemptive action is the only possible solution. And like any snake, it’s best to cut off the head first. Rouhani would like much better with a very close shave. Beginning with that ugly growth above his shoulders.

      Practice and Putin make perfect.

    • The Deplorable Braveheart says:

Heartless, the neocon fascist scum are looking for any excuse to attack Iran and/or North Korea. If either one of them attacks us then we have to respond. Otherwise let’s leave them the f#$% alone. Like we don’t have enough problems at home to deal with. Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico just all got hit by hurricanes. we don’t have the money to help all them let alone pay for another stupid foreign adventure.

      • DeplorableBitterClinger says:

If USA attacks Iran or DPRK, we’ll get our ass handed to us. Iran has Russia and DPRK has China in their respective corners.

USA pretends to be able to shoot down missles at will. If that was so, we’d have already done it.

Trump barks about threats to USA or it’s allies. Repeated missles over and around Japan are no big deal.

We don’t have a monopoly on nukes like we once had.
The horse left the barn. USA wants to dictate who gets to have what.
Those days are over. It’s a scary new world.

  3. GrandpaSpeaks says:

Truth would spare us from this counter intelligence bullshit. With it we could tame this rogue maniacal regime running this country.

  4. Anonymous says:

We should be more worried about the ChiComs invading Puerto Rico. I mean Houston.
No, Florida. They won’t go to Chicago. Too dangerous.

    Sounds like NK

The Fed private banking cabal must be mad. Non members North Korea and Iran are attempting to defend non membership. Only the US and their “allies” have any legitimate standing with Trump and the neocon war machine. Israel wants three quarters of Syrian and Iraqi land, a big chunk of Saudi Arabia and part of Egypt plus the smaller nations land claiming all a part of greater Israel. The US is on board and has been from the start of the bloodshed in the Middle East. Like the European Americans wiping out most of the native Americans and stealing their land. I Was always disgusted by the US National anthem. Why pay homage to a government that has murdered its countrymen and women endlessly in war and then props itself up as to be revered above all evidence as to what it stands for. I must be missing the logic of the insanity. Go ahead stand in awe with your hand over your heart and continue to praise your mental enslavement. Like brain cancer with no hope of survival.

    Here’s a idea … FAKE FK’N NEWS … / NEVER HAPPENED!!!

  11. semperfortis says:

WOW! NK really is showing the nation has no clothes.

NO WAY the us wants to admit this, once someone stands to a bully, the bullies friends run and EVERYONE stands to the bully.

    scary for us average people.

the military avg iq has sunken so low, they probably think they can take on NK,Iran,China, and Russia at once. that is the scary part.

fighting below your class makes you overconfident and flawed in mechanics and execution.

  12. Richard Steven Hack says:

Iran has every right to conduct ballistic missile tests. They are Iran’s sole deterrent against Israeli attack.

The Iran Deal may have “called upon” Iran to not develop ballistic missiles, but that text was inserted by the US after Russia and China insisted on watering down the text to not link Iran’s military development to the nuclear issue.

The NPT does NOT govern a country’s military developments in any way, shape or form if they do not include nuclear materials and there is no justification in attempting to do so.

Unnoticed in this article is the fact that the US intelligence was so negligent that they thought the launch video was of a new launch rather than the old failed one.

Rouhani is correct in that Iran has never invaded anyone in hundreds of years. Their military posture is entirely defensive and poses no threat to anyone in the region except Israel (and perhaps Saudi Arabia – whose military is enormously expensive but next to worthless) and that only if Israel attacks first.

Trump is merely using this nonsense to derail the Iran Deal, which the IAEA has repeatedly certified is working perfectly.

Trump – under Israel’s thumb – wants a decades-long war with Iran which will cost in American and Iranian lives and US taxpayer money four times what the Iraq and Afghanistan wars cost. Because Iran is almost four times the size of Iraq and unlike the Iraqis, who didn’t particularly care about Saddam, the Iranians will NEVER surrender.
