Future of America: Harder Than Anything You’ve Experienced In Your Lifetime

In February 0f 2009, while on the Glenn Beck show, trend forecaster Gerald Celente was asked to comment on global events and extraordinary times in which we live. His response should have been a wake up call.

[It will be] Like nothing we’ve ever seen in our lifetime or I would say anyone’s life time.

Since then we’ve seen not billions, but trillions upon trillions of dollars committed to bank bailouts, toxic asset purchases, stock market liquidity infusion, so-called job creation programs, tax breaks and mortgage modifications. The Obama administration has taken every opportunity to tout these programs as evidence of success.

On the one hand, we’re told that the recovery, albeit slower than expected, is in full swing. We were also told in late 2008 that this was a recession. Any discussion about the possibility of another Great Depression was taken off the table by government, media and mainstream economists. The idea that America could enter another depression was simply not possible, and anyone who spoke of such thing was a fear mongering pessimist.

Yet, it seems that we were on the very brink of complete melt-down in 2008. So close, in fact, that administration officials now claim the President’s policies are responsible for avoiding the very scenario that was completely denied as a possibility three years ago:

The American economy was falling off the cliff in the fall of ’08 and the first months of this administration. And he put in place the most creative, the most forceful set of economy measure we have ever done as a country. And because of that, we’ve preented a second Great Depression and the economy has now been growing for more than a year and a half.

-Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, Meet the Press, July 10, 2011

At the same time Mr. Geithner explains to us how saddling us with trillions more in debt and expanding government intervention into every aspect of our lives has avoided depression, he warns that things are going to remain tough for the average American. His words are eerily reminiscent of Gerald Celente’s 2009 forecast:

I think it’s going to take a long time still. This is a very tough economy. And I think for a lot of people it’s going to be – it’s going to feel very hard, harder than anything they’ve experienced in their lifetime now, for some time to come.

The consensus among the experts who didn’t see the 2008 recession until six months after it was official and then told us the economy would be back to normal by 2011 are the same people who are telling us that a Great Depression has been avoided.

As in 2008, the Great Depression debate is off the table.

For those paying attention, however, it should be clear that the next Great Depression was signaled by the 2008 economic and equities market crash, and the last three years of policy initiatives have done nothing to fix the fundamental problems that caused the crisis in the first place.

An argument could be made that things are actually much worse now – on a number of fronts including the economy, jobs, real estate, deficit spending, national debt, and cost of living – than they were three years ago.

If you’ve haven’t guessed, it is very likely that the reason Americans are going to experience times tougher than anything they have experienced in their lifetimes is because our nation is fully engrossed in the next Great Depression. There is no better example of this than then our 21st century version of soup lines:

It’s real. It’s happening right now. Prepare yourself financially, mentally, spiritually, and physically – because it’s only going to get worse.

Every time I hear one of these government nitwits I automatically start hearing Freddy Mercury in my subconscious mind:
        Is this the real life?
        Is this just fantasy?
        Caught in a land slide,
        No escape from reality…

I honestly think that many of them are genuinely unaware of the REAL world where 99% of us live every day. They don’t even know it exists. That doesn’t excuse any of their evil deeds, but it makes me hope that, someday, somewhere, after the nation has fallen into chaos, and the dust has settled, that someone wearing a crisp clean uniform of the armed forces of the New Sovereign United States, will take a brief moment to feel sorry for them…just before strapping them into the chair.

Hopefully the federal monster in Washington will run out of money and we’ll all get back to much smaller, local economies where we grow our own food and trade with neighbors like the old days.

Seems a very good possibility that who ever is elected to federal posts will, during their term in office, be part of the decentralization of the federal system. This will be difficult for many but will most certainly be the start of a new, more prosperous, era.

The corp will not die quietly. There is still a lot left to steal.

The corp will not decentralize, the People must leave it and localize on their own. In order to do that, they will have to fight the corp. The numbers are against it’s long term survival, but it will put up one hell of a short term fight with many victims.

Leave the corp. Be invisible to it. It will not die quietly, but it can not hurt you if it can not see you.

However, until there’s an army to face them, i’m staying under the radar. Fight them alone, they ridicule you (if you’re lucky). Fight them in a small group, you’re a “radical militia” and they kill you! Only when massive numbers of Americans cry out for their blood do they get nervous. They can’t kill us all before we get them. Alone, the only hope is to vanish. I just wish i knew more about how to do it.

Think about East Germany, Russia and China where neighbors spy on and report neighbors or friends. Where laws exist to control your every move and intimidate you into quietly going along with the program. That is their end goal. You will NOT get away with small and local.

There is no way out. Higher taxes won’t do it. Reign in spending & millions will join the swell of unemployed.

Regarding raising taxes, Charles Krauthammer had this to say.

“I did the math. If you collect that tax (the proposed obama tax increase on the wealthy) for the next 5,000 years — that is not a typo — it would equal the new debt Obama racked up last year alone……”

The only way I see to even come close to fixing this mess is to get rid of all the politicians currently in office, implement term limits, get rid of all lobbying & corporate political donations (to end statism & crony capitalism), end all spending on ANYTHING outside the U.S. (foreign aid, wars, military bases, Greece bailouts, the UN, etc), send the illegal immigrants home & shut down the border to open up their jobs for Americans, shrink the federal govt by about 85% & return the power to the states and phase out govt entitlements.

Of course none of that will ever happen — by choice. Collapse will force it though.

True. However, there are doubtless countless unforseen consequences of even these obviously well-thought-out ideas. Who knows what the final outcome of all that would be? As an added note, we could bring our troops home and put them on our borders. I think we’d see a lot fewer incidences of drug cartels shooting up innocent civilians. “things are going to remain tough for the average American”

      Define “average American” Mr. Geithner!

I can tell you who the average American isn’t… It’s not Mr. Geithner or his cronies, it’s not the banker man, and it’s not anyone in Congress or any government official. They are not affected by this crisis that they themselves caused.

They lured the “average American” into mortgages they couldn’t afford, (and we bought it, hook-line and sinker). They told the “average American” to go into debt to keep the prosperity going. And then, just as you can’t get any further into debt, you end up paying for the shenanigans of the brightest minds on earth through bailouts you didn’t agree to.

No wonder they aren’t feeling the recession, to them it’s like going to the casino with someone else’s pocket book.

No one is more affected than those who live hand to mouth, pay check to pay check. There is no end to this, none! You can do all the math and come up with the greatest ideas, but the man behind the curtain doesn’t care…. They have a free ride from you and me and generations as far as I can see! It makes me sick! I get absolutely nothing from the taxes I pay!

          545 vs. 300,000,000 People
          -By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The President does.

You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? John Boehner. He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it’s because they wantthem in Iraq and Afghanistan …

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees…

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper.

What you do with this article now that you have read it… is up to you. This might be funny if it weren’t so true.

Unless you consider yourself in the top 1 tenth of 1%, a.k.a. the super wealthy — you need to have a plan to survive just in case. And this plan starts with a trusted community of people. If the condition reaches a point where your way of life changes, the way of life for the masses – you need to be prepared. /The super wealthy are/ and they don’t care about you or your family. Go about your normal business and be prepared.

plan a: go about your business and enjoy life, kiss your child and hug your wife – call your mother once and while and say hi.
plan b: have a food, water, firearms, medical, circle of friends plan, etc… plan, plan, plan…

The tax codes apply only to officers and employees of the US gov, which you become voluntarily by using the numbers and forms that create the oblgation. They are not required even for private corporate employment, but the corps do not follow the law and FORCE people to use them.

Was it something like “transitory”? I hate to turn them away from our retreat but if we don’t have enough supplies to support them they will have to be, or the rest will suffer. We already anticipate a few showing up but stocking up for these relatives is proving to be a strain on our prepping finances.

Beefcake- you have a potential problem there if your slacker relatives know anything about your stored stuff or your ability to feed yourself come shtf. Once opsec is blown, it’s impossible to get it back. But you may have time to plant the idea in their heads that you are broke, hungry and the stores have all been used up. Don’t lay it on too thick, or all at once, but start soon by dropping hints that you’ve used up everything and are just barely getting by eack week. Ask to borrow $5 from them, say you need gas to get to work or whatever. Just start building the idea in their heads that you have nothing. When they come to visit make sure they have NO access to your pantry/closets/storage areas. Within a year or so they will mentally cross you off the list of places to escape to. (actually they don’t have a list because they don’t plan that far ahead, but you won’t be the one they think of when the time comes) If you have a garden, well that’s kinda hard to hide, but tell them it’s just not making much this year (too much heat, bugs, etc) Just do everything you can to UNDO their perception of you as self sufficient.
As for turning away the close kinfolk if/when they show up after shtf? That question falls into the moral/ethical/even religious category and only you can answer that. It’s good that you’re thinking about it beforehand though. If you’re so inclined, pray about it too. Best of luck to you.

What that means is they are out of business. These were business owners who do not get counted in the unemployment numbers. I have heard that after the space shuttle launched last week another 17000 people lost their jobs on the space coast.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again we need to eliminate at lease 54% of all government, Federal, State and local to save America.

We should not be talking about increasing the debt ceiling. We should be talking about cutting spending so we don’t hit the debt ceiling. These debt talks are a joke. We need to cut 2 trillion today and reduce the federal budget by 1 trillion. The A-holes in Washington are talking $4 trillion over 10 years. That’s $400 billion a year or a little less then we spend on benefits to illegal Aliens.

    23. Question: I’ve got about 30K of 401K / 403B funds that I can get my hands on. The deal will net me about 17K after they rape me with taxes and penalties for cashing it in.

If I pay it all on my land debt, I’ll still have about 5K of debt but most will be gone. But, I could just buy a bunch of silver (or ammo) and hang onto it.

I’m considering cashing out and sticking 2 years of land payments in cash and then take the rest of it into silver and gold.

I know you guys may not (or may!) be financial geniuses, however, at least I can get some honest opinions. Advice, please…

      • Convert your 01k into an IRA, then make it self directed to where it can buy shares in your LLC. The whole thing cysts about 1200/1500 to make legal. Use that to buy farm land, rental property, or even PMs.

        • Jim, problem with that (though its a unique idea) if you’ve started an LLC that means you’re way more visible and controllable by the over-corps (StateCorp, FedCorp, etc). I want reduced exposure on that. I want it converted first to cash and then to other things out of reach of TheftCorp, which is government. Your idea, I think, would be a great one, however, I believe when this all falls apart the death throws of StateCorp and FedCorp will dismantle things like the little LLC you’re talking about. Your thoughts, please…

NetRanger, If it were me I would do the two years in cash for property payments, gold and/or silver (physical holding only), and the remainder in food and some tools. I take it your ok on guns and ammo and you might be GTG on the grub. The two years of cash for the property payments can buy some time. Above all else, get that 401K out of their hands and into yours no matter the penalty.

Yeah, I’m pretty good on guns, ammo, food and land. I do not need the money. The ONLY reason I would cash it in would be so it wouldn’t be ALL GONE when the corp steals it or makes it inaccessible.

The move would be for preservation ONLY. At this point I have no hope in it growing and I’m fully suspicious that little Timmy G is licking his chops ready to lap it up.

Net Ranger: 30k in sheltered funds will be 3k in penalty (10%) and probably about 20% in taxes unless you’re above 50-60k income……so a total of 9k, leaving you 21k……bit better than you think.

I took mine out in 03/04, put it all in silver. My advice would be you do the same, even though silver in mid 30′s now. Buy as much pre-65 junk as you can…..don’t pay off your land. Continue with current income to pay on it if all you owe is 12k……worse case, you could use the silver in a pinch to pay it…..best case, you’ll have some real money set aside for the property taxes ( that was my big concern, and why I bought silver ).

NetRanger – be cautious. Yes, the sky is falling, but it has not actually fallen yet. $30K is a chunk of change and I wouldn’t recommend cashing it out unless they change the rules to force retirement accounts to hold T Bills. We do have elections coming up; there is still hope. My recommendation would be to ride it out a bit more and see what happens after the next election. I’d leave it sit and concentrate on building up provisions and the stuff you already know about as you can afford it. If you can save up some bucks for cash on hand, that would be great too. When I got serious about saving for retirement, I made the decision to go 50-50. Half in an after tax account and half in a pre tax account. Just my two cents.. think long and hard before you take the big hit and cash out.

Tell my broker to get all the papers together, sign them all, get it all ready to file and then one word and swoosh! out it comes. That way I can get it FAST if I need to. Then, just sit on it.

TnAndy, No, it’ll be 50% in the toilet. I’m above the 70K mark. STupid me got caught up in the “oh, if you don’t need it, jam it into pretax accounts!” I was pumping in $600 a month into that stuff for years. I can’t touch that part, still employed with the company. But, who knows how much longer that will last.

You can invest your IRA in SLV and it’s gold comparable ETF. Yes the anti fiat crowd will moan, but compare say $40,000.

You do an LLC and it costs $2,000 and you pay 400 a yr for some one to hold your silver or gold. You can’t take possession like you can in some ways land.

SLV goes up and down with silver and costs about $10 to buy into.

        • I didn’t get a fixed, its an 18 month adjustable. But, at the present, its stuck on the bottom. I’ve thought about that. If we hyperinflate, though, it won’t do any good. Those “inflated dollars” might be inflated, purchasing wise, but on the earning end they were not inflated. Of course, wages could rise, but thats a very unsafe bet.

I think I’m going to take Sam’s advice and sit on it a while. The crash is coming but its not here yet. The decline of the developed world is for all practical purposes permanent. In the end the developing world rises and the developed world drops. This is not the future of America but rather the future of the developed world.

Prep for six months or six years. It really doesn’t matter because sooner or later unless your self sufficient you going to run out of things. Unless your surrounded by neighbors that are self sufficient sooner or later your going to loose what you have. The “We confiscate your assets including your pigs and chickens in the name of The People” has been said in every language at one time or another and done in one form or another virtually everywhere. Give up your gold and we will give you paper and if you don’t we will use force up to and including lethal force to obtain compliance. Yep, it’s been done virtually everywhere in one way or another.

Maybe if your healthy and live in a rural county in a state with a rural flavor you might just make it. Bunker down in the suburbs? Put solar panels on your home while all your neighbors are in the dark? That will go ever like a “Lead Balloon”. Your stuff will be stolen or vandalized. “Why should they have what I can’t” will be the justification. That justification will be “justified” by the poor majority.

“From those according to their means to those according to their needs” will de-facto replace, “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” as more people have needs.

You should buy at least 5 oz of gold ($7500), unless you live in an area where you can prospect for it on the weekends. (Check SHTF Mining Clubs for your area).

Some experts believe gold will increase another 10% by the end of this year. And it is not going down except in a trading range; but the trend is up and will continue that way.

Jim Rogers is also long the dollar right now (go figure)so a little cash under the matress is good too. In a real crash from outside events like an EMP etc, you would not be able to access your bank. I would not make any extra principal payments on the land, but pay it off with the gold after it increases in value.

Jim says that the dollar and the market for commodities do not have to move in tandem. Jim knows. But only YOU know what is best for you.

They’re a great tool if you use them and don’t let THEM use YOU.

But, all laughing aside, every strategy is a hybrid. I’ve got 12 months of land payments easy. Way more if you consider the several hundred ounces of silver. But, inflation will kill the cash. I want to convert most of it to something that is easily converted back. Junk silver? Don’t know. Regular silver has such a high premium (like 10% at times).

    48. I am going to totally hijack the plane here, but bare with me please:

I go to the Survivalistboards a lot and they have in there state groups. In the Michigan state group we got a prepper meet and greet to happen Sunday. It was sort of a potluck barbecue at a park and there were a total of 7 of us that showed. I can’t tell you how nice it was to finally meet other preppers face to face and be able to talk in person and share ideas and knowledge. Southernprepper1 (from doomsday preppers on NatGeo a few weeks back) has a great video on his youtube channel about people needing to get together and network and form groups and share info. We talked about what all our opinions were on what would drop the curtain and we talked about skill sets and knowledge and also what we would like to learn, so hopefully in this networking idea people can get together and help one another. One guy there is inviting people to go out with him and his wife and learn more about guns and shooting. I took my rocket stove that I made with the help of a friend in church who is a macgyver in a shop and he helped with the welding part of it. Every one loved it and watched me cook on it and asked all about how it was made and everything. We talked about what we would like to get out of this group, and what our thoughts were on where we would like to see the group go if anywhere….adn that led to the idea of instead of trying to find a group to join where everyone lives together, start a community on some new bought land in a safe and agreed place…..like the UP of MIchigan for example. We discussed this at great length and wow, this could really be something. Funny thing was that I didn’t bring it up, another guy did….but the night before I mentioned the same exact thing to my wife when, just for shits and grins I was looking at potential bug out property in the UP. I said to my wife, why couldn’t 20-30 men or heads of families go in together on say a 100 acres and then parcel it off and do a group thing that way in the way of a community……is that wild or what??
We are going camping with the guy and his family that brought it up at the meeting this weekend and really looking forward to this venture or at least potential venture…also looking for other people as well, which will probably prove to be the hardest part.

I got some potential good news on a job today, it is in the corp (sorry GC) but have to take it, I can make 2-3K a week and get a lot farther quicker that way on getting bills caught up and then preps and maybe money for property in the UP.

Also this morning we got hit with a whopper of a storm, some of you have probably heard about chi town being without power, that is the storm that hit us up here in Muskegon. We were blessed on our property, but we still lost power at 7:45 in the morning and didn’t get it back til 7 tonight and we learned a few things…some of you will probably laugh and this is nothing to you, but for us we learned some things….here goes, I am just going to copy and paste what I posted to my friends on the SB’s cause I am already tired of typing…hate a lot of typing.

      A few things from today

Maybe having an old rotary phone is a good idea as long as your phone isn’t coming in to your home with an internet package, something to do with digital. But if you have AT&T or something like that with the phone line being separate and an old rotary phone, you could still use it when power goes out. Of course in a real SHTF scenario that is nation or world wide….it won’t matter anyway….just something to know for the little SHTF scenarios like we had today. Not sure how the power company could of been off as much as they were. The recordings we got every time we called to see if the “updates” were any different, all said “estimated time of power return would be Thursday at 4pm” But power came back on about 2 hours ago. We now have 5 2.5 gallon jugs of drinking water in the deep freeze in the basement along with 10 1 gallon jugs and 5 20lb bags of ice. Shellie got home with the ice as soon as power restored. Had we sent her and the kids to a hotel (and me stay at the house to protect it) on the home owners insurance dime cause of what we were told by power company, we would of been out that dime ourselves and I would of been pretty hacked off. Anyway today taught us or reminded us of just how unprepared we are. Knowledge is great adn does help some….but without resources to get things and get prepped, I am afraid your still screwed….sorry but that’s the reality that today showed us. That and having your house in order on a day to day regular basis helps when **** happens. Having a sink full of dishes and loads of laundry needing to be done and picking up after the kids hasn’t been done in a day or so….it really adds to the stress factor. We learned that being a prepper, doesn’t just mean storage and knowledge, but being organized and structured more….at least for us.

      AND
thank you all for your concern and the positive encouragement. And thank you that called me, it was nice to hear from you, even though we didn’t talk, the messages were nice. Couple things I forgot to mention…don’t wait, don’t wait and don’t wait. Make sure phones are on charger, cells and land lines. When power came back tonight our land lines were dead, both of them…..kids and Shellie are terrible about putting them back on the charger. Get water and ice in your freezers now…don’t wait. For some this is a no brainer and normal life style…..we suck at it, especially with three little ones all under 5, but have your house in order as much as possible. Another thing, cause of being so bad off financially, the van has sat in front of the house for weeks now with no gas, it is on empty empty. Now it’s not our bug out vehicle by any means, but it is the only vehicle that has multiple chargers in it for phones…and how long can you charge something without starting the van? I don’t know…but if we had to start the van to make sure we didn’t kill it, it wouldn’t run long cause of no gas in it…..hell gas is already back up to about $4 a gallon here. One last thing, and I hate to tell this one…when SHTF, time seems to speed up when you have to think and make decisions, the banks are closing (remember I had to get a new debit card after last week’s crap…so I have no way of going to an ATM right now), the home owners ins lady is about to go home for the day, food is warning up in the fridge, cell towers are probably on generators which is causing cell service to degenerate rapidly for calls, texts and internet…..and all the while the clock is flying by today and I spent most of my time (this is the shameful embarrassing part) trying to get on here and the SB’s …..duh!!!! Shellie and I talked about it and I am addicted to the dang internet and these places and you people have become a crutch. I need to really start being more organized and get this stuff in my head to the point of second nature! I really need to get to work and get some money coming in and start acquiring serious preps and then we as a family need to quit talking about it and reading about it (men have the tendency to research research and do more research and never actually do anything) and get out there and live it and practice it. Heck this was nothing, we were lucky (I pray for protection over our property and specifically mention the trees, if you could see my back yard you’d be amazed nothing came down on our property) but all over Muskegon power is still out and will be for a few days, trees down and power lines down everywhere. But we were protected here and only had the minor inconvenience of being with out power for almost 12 hours. It was nothing, yet we seen many many failures on our part…..good lesson today for us. Again thank you all

But, most of all, and I see you already know that, the worst damage comes from being totally dependent on the corp., not knowing you are and not caring. You’re so way past that compared to most.

Use the corp if you have to! I do. I work for a school corp. Its about as federal as you can get without being federal. I try my best to inject honesty and integrity into it, but, frankly, those are foreign concepts to the sheople class that inhabit our schools.

    49. Also wanted to add that the job is a safety man on an excavation project in Mobile and expected to last 2-3 years…..any one in Mobile area? or on the way? Would love to stop and say hello…..except for emptyhandkiller….LoL

I also wanted to explain the community thing vs group a little better after re reading my above post. Many people are getting into groups and they all come together at one persons retreat and there are usually guidelines, like store all your stuff there and then hope you make it there or your screwed and someone else has all your preps for example. What we were discussing is a total life change NOW!! Make the shift now to your own place, live there now and build it up and do it together with other like minded people…a community. That way when SHTF, you get up and do the same old thing you do every other day
I hope that made a little more sense

BJ, for you to be able too,
“”get up and do the same old thing you do every other day””

You need to live that way now, meaning if you cant walk out to the electric box by the meter and flip the main off and still live the way you normally do then being with a group isn’t really gonna be much different than you have now.. it will be chaos.

I don”t mean to sound tough or any jazz like that but in your earlier post I was reading waaaaaay to much on importance of cell phone charging and such… throw them things away, when SHTF them things will be useless and the family will be ‘jonesing’ for that addiction of wasting time talking instead of ‘actions’.

get yourself into that place in the UP by yourself and with your family, start living the way it would be like when SHTF.. like Gods Creation say”s get your own preps for water, food, electricity and the such.. I am not really trying to down the group thing much but groups need to be the family, if anything in my humble opinion…

anymore than family and their will be problems and arguments will ensue.. only ones I want in my group are those I can trust my life with… you won”t have this with strangers… that comes from ‘family’ and ‘lifelong friends’ who have already proven their loyalty to you and your family… I do NOT mean extended cousins and such.

get yourself away from the city and start to live the way you see things to be in the future.. you will find ‘your group’ in the neighbors that are ALREADY there living it.

anyway, good luck on the job with a congrats, I hope it get you to where you want to be..

Rate This Comment: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

        • that’s exactly what we are wanting and plan on trying to do….get up there and live that way before SHTF. As far as people beyond blood family…..I don’t think that will work. Your going to need more people to fight together than one family….at least at the size my family is. The mentioning of phones and stuff was more to the little SHTF scenarios, like storms and small catastrophes.

Thanks for the info and encouragement :-)

The solutions to our economic problems may or may not have been mentioned here, but the answer doesn’t really matter. Unless you are entrenched in international or nationwide business, you won’t notice most changes and if you do, there won’t be much you can do about them. I used to be a very self-important person. Thinking that my “fight” for “freedom” would be significant.

It wasn’t. One man alone accomplishes little more, in this modern world, than being labeled a kook or put in prison. The things at work here may or may not be happening by design, and their outcome is really quite unpredictable. Change always comes…for the better or the worse, and most of us have no say-so, whatsoever, about the endgame. You can barely control the space around you, let alone the plans of governments.

I was an activist, until I found out that 10 people in a room can’t order a pizza and agree on the toppings, especially with the in-bred “self” mentality that exists today.

Everywhere on the net, I read “comments” to writings, like the above, smacking of revolt and so forth. OK, I’m in, BUT you go first. Sorry….I’ve met very few heroes and patriots out there. George Washington is dead. The country is HUGE. The world is DIFFERENT now. Go to a few third world countries….view the chaos and poverty. I haven’t met a selfless patriot in modern America.

      Let’s get real guys…..

      we are in a depression,

food stamps and welfare are the soup lines of the 30′s

AND the government doesn’t give a damn WHAT you think.

You really have only two options with IRS.First is the Bankruptcy choice. Not great, but beats being punished for years for a bad choice in the past.Second,go down to the local office IN PERSON,hat in hand, asking to set up a repayment plan.Again, not great, but beats the third option which is the IRS seizing(if they can find them)your bank accounts, car(if paid for)house and land(if paid for,if not then a lien attached to them,NOT a good thing). If you’re broke,no job, living in a apt..THEY might be willing to “forgive” the debt. But you better have solid proof brought along(term. notice, welfare checks and papers, etc.)to achieve that rare status. If your rich or have enough $$ get a lawyer to argue and reach a settlement(and not the guys on TV,they’re just Corp.shills looking to rape you and do little or nothing). On a lighter note, at least some of my garden plants a loving the intense HOT weather we’re having here in the “middling south”.Still working on my COOASN(collection of odds and sods network). Not a disparaging term, rather a REAL LIFE group of(mostly)like minded folks I can call on,talk to and get ideas from(and get told when a idea is not so realistic). The UBER-RICH and their lackeys(see mr.G at top of page)I suspect will try to continue in the lifestyle to which they are accustomed up to last moment. This means it’s quite possible things will continue in rather haphazard slow train wreck as they try to ruin the rest of us to keep up their status quo “good life”.

Slim: There are many ways to cut the budget without cutting social security or medicare for the elderly.

The DOD budget is S700 billion without the cost of the Wars which were funded separately. Each more than a trillion dollars. Think there isn’t waste in the military buget? Think again.

As we debate this issue US military ships are cruising the waters of the third world proving FREE health care to foreign nationals in SA, Asia, Africa, and the middle east. Should the American taxpayer fund the health care of foreigners and not those who pay and have paid their taxes all their life?

Cut $200 billion there and tell them to finding the 8 billion “missing” in Irag.

Illegals cost the US taxpayer more than $300 billion every year, order them out of the country. Terminate their ability to get benefits and they will go home.

We are kicking Americans out of the houses they cannot afford, shouldn’t we kick the Illegals out of the apartments they cannot afford unless they were receiving government assistance?

The hydrocarbon industry gets a one trillion dollar tax subsidy every year. Cut it in half or cut it all together. At $100-120 per barrel there is enough incentive to make a profit on drilling.

Let all elected officials past and present receive the same health care and retirement that the rest of US have. They bailed out AIG because THEIR pensions were at risk through AIG.

The rich do need to pay their fair share. 17% doesn’t get it when the rest of US are paying the brunt of the taxes.

NO multinational corporation like GE should be able to make billions of dollars in profit without paying some taxes. Time for a flat tax where EVERYONE pays a fair amount.

Eliminate the D of Education that is imposing multiculturalism on US and UN propaganda on OUR kids.

The 50-60 billion a MONTH trade imbalance could and should be balanced by tariffs. 5 billion here, 10 billion there, and pretty soon you are talking about real money to the tune of 100 billion dollars every year.

Cut the federal workforce by 20%. Cut their pensions and benefits too. We do not need “scores of officers (by the millions) eating out our substance”.

Slim the list is endless. Time and space do not allow for more examples. I am sure you have ideas of your own.
That is how you pay for the safety net under OUR elderly and OUR infirmed. America is a great nation that can and should help its weakest members.

These cuts represent more than a trillion dollars in subsidies that WE pay every year.

That BONEHEAD is how you balance the budget without doing so on the elderly or the informed. PS, I do not receive either.

      Greetings Everyone!
      Just a few thoughts….
I just wonder why the “red tie party”(notice how they seemed to have lost the red ties as of late?how very droll!) group of the REPOCRATS in Congress are saying that “while this president is in office” they totally refuse to try to do ANYTHING about the mess the country’s in?After all “their” president Mr.W.Bush,had a VERY big part in running up the national debt in the first place(the current man in office one is slightly better, but that’s no recommendation). No new taxes?just what do they think is going to reduce the debt anyway?Do They forget the VERY REAL DEPRESSION that’s happening across the country!!??Perhaps more tax cuts for the UBER-RICH?More GOVERNMENT funding for the Coal\Oil oligarchs??Everyone in D.C. seems well educated and at least knowledgeable of the crisis. So why the lunkhead attitude? They are ALL part of the same REPOCRATE party/group!!
I guess being rich and aspiring to be friends of the UBER-RICH allows a certain amount of “let them eat cake” mentality to be manifested across the board.A World-wide berth on the Titanic seems be the order of the day for these “people”.Only problem is that THERE ARE NO LIFEBOATS this time. Was that a bump I just felt?
So who’s got their life jackets?
      Best to ALL
      GFG

      God’s Creation,

I wanted to thank you for the advice. I would’ve replied above, but the depth of replies is limited. I’ve begun reading the pdf you suggested and it’s a frickin’ gold mine.

      Again, thank you.

So…. what do we do? Cash out our Roth, take the hit and pay off the house and car or try to hold out for another 2 1/2 years (age 59 1/2) to avoid the penalty and risk losing it all?

Yet, in the MSM, there is still an argument that there are TBTF (Too-Big-To-Fail) Banks????? How stupid are people?
