Flu Outbreak: Deadly Influenza Virus Ravages Oregon And Idaho

Oregon is one of 36 states nationwide reporting high levels of a flu outbreak, according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control. More than 120 Oregonians have been hospitalized for the flu in the week leading up to Christmas.

“It’s just one of those years where the CDC is seeing that this strain of flu is only somewhat covered by the vaccine,” Jennifer Radtke, manager for infection prevention at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, told USA Today. Although “somewhat covered” is a bit of a stretch considering the vaccine is only about 10% effective this year. “They’re seeing that it’s anywhere from 10 to 33 percent effective, so anytime there’s a mismatch between the vaccine and the circulating strain of the flu, you’re going to see more cases.”

Ann Thomas, a public health physician for the Oregon Health Authority, said the flu virus mutates so quickly, it’s a “roll of the dice each year.” Some mutations or subtypes, such as H3N2, are more dangerous, especially for people over the age of 65. And even though the vaccine is ineffective, government agents and health officials recommend getting the flu shot.

Last year was Oregon’s worst year on record for the number of hospitalizations, she said. This year appears to be on the same track. As of December 29, 335 cases of influenza-related hospitalizations in the Portland tri-county area alone were reported by the state for the 2017-18 season, Thomas said.

Salem Health’s Infection Prevention Manager Julie Koch said about 25 percent of patients in the region tested for flu showed positive. Koch said they are seeing both of flu types A and B this year. Both are “protected” against in this year’s shot, as well as flu A(H3), which seems to be predominant at this time.

But there is evidence to suggest that the flu shot actually increases the chance of getting sick.

So should you get the shot?  Doctors and the government will tell you that you still need to be vaccinated against the flu every year. But Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, says that getting an annual flu shot is “all a big lie from the vaccine industry.”

Washington state has reported 20 lab-confirmed influenza-related deaths for the 2017-2018 season, as of December 23, and Idaho has seen more flu-related deaths at this point in the season than at the same time in the previous seven seasons. Every year, influenza contributes to an estimated 36,000 deaths in the United States, along with more than 200,000 hospitalizations.

I’ve been sick for 8 days now with the Flu/Cold. Feel ok one day and feel like hell the next. Coughing little Green men out of my lungs and out of my nose. Very graphic “A”! I hope you guys don’t get it.

  2. Looks like you are facing a gradual death.

  3. I like to OD on vitamin c when i start to feel a little off. I think it works. I mean seriously over do it too. 🙂 can be an issue after the fact because your body dumps what it doesn’t need and it gets in the habit of doing a lot of dumping so when you stop taking the OD levels of Vit c you body dumps everything. I haven’t had any issues with that so far, but that is what i have heard.

  4. Nothing with mercury in it is safe. Amalgam fillings aren’t safe; they give off vapors that are capable of crossing any cell membrane. This includes the blood-brain barrier. Best defense is selenium(in moderate amounts). Glutathione is the body’s major antioxidant and helps to remove heavy metals (including mercury). Hospitals use glutathione by intravenous injection for heavy metal toxicity. The best approach is to modify your diet by eating foods rich in selenium and which give your body what it needs to manufacture glutathione. Do a search on foods rich in selenium and which give the materials for glutathione.

  5. triple shots of Nyquil and sleep.

  6. Babycatcher says:

anyone here do Elderberry tincture? I don’t know what’s in elderberries, but it kicked the respiratory thing I was starting to get, to the curb in less than 8 hours! Made a believer out of me!

    • docosc says:

I actually grow my own elderberries and make a “cure all” from elderberries, honey, cinnamon and turmeric. The supplement industry is completely unregulated and frequently there is little to none of the listed ingredient in the bottle. Elderberries have been shown to have specific antiviral properties and shorted duration significantly. I also grow ecchinacea and make tes from that when I feel crummy.

Vit C, D, Zinc along w/multiple vits daily, add pro biotics. OD on certain vit. can make you sick on stomach/ cramps. Not worth it, as body cannot absorb anyway. People with flu talked right into my face, I didn’t get it (told me later they came down w/flu hi fever later that day). Drink kombucha between meals. eat variety fruits, hot drinks during cold/flu seasons or if sick, stay out of crowds, shop early in day.

Duplicate comment looks as though you already said that

  9. CiddyBoy says:

During the 1918 outbreak there was no flu vaccine … People were brewing up their own remedies… but they didn’t work because it was believed at the time influenza was a bacteria instead of a virus.

WorldWar I claimed an estimated 16 million lives. The influenza epidemic that swept the world in 1918 killed an estimated 50 million people.
You might find some sources that say as many as 100 million

    • Plan twice, prep once says:

The best thing for the flu is plenty of rest, fluids, keep warm and keep the humidity at about 50 to 60%. You can take over the counter aid to fix symptoms, but if they make you feel better, don’t use that as a license to burn the candle at poth ends.

Humidity, put a kettle of water on the stove at a low simmer, keep the pot full. Screw the heating bill and set the thermostat to 71 or 72. Dress warm. Get lots of sleep.

The best food I’ve ever had for fighting flu is steaming hot spaghetti and white clam sauce. Assuming you can eat shellfish, it’s better than chicken soup.

I’ve got a low grade viral thing going myself, I still need to clear the snow with the snowblower. It’s gonna be a quick half assed job to get me back inside fast.

If you get the flu, take some time off, don’t let it turn to pneumonia. Take care all.

      • Plan twice, prep once says:

I meant to add, since we developed great central heating, and refrigeration, so we can have weeks of food on hand, the death rate from flu is way down.

The worst thing is if we get sick and continue burning the candle from both ends as our society pushes us, we can be in danger of a simple flu turning into pneumonia.

If the SHTF, and we suddenly have to work hard to survive, stay warm, gather and prepare food, we could die from a lot of common illnesses that we don’t blink at today.

        • Far better to focus on a strong immune system and you won’t get sick !

          • Plan twice, prep once says:

We have several new additions to the extended family, babies and some small children who are in daycare.

The little ones in day care expose the entire family to every sh!tting virus you can imagine. So yes I’m building a really strong immune system….the hard way.

Lots of regular family gatherings, all celebrating the new lives in our family. I wouldn’t miss it for the world, he says with a sniffle sniffle caugh caugh snort snort.

  10. aljamo says:

That anyone trusts the CDC and big pharma chemical poisons is amazing. The truth of the dangers of the medical establishment are being fully revealed. Unwarranted trust for whatever their pushing is just flat out stupid. Also AG Sessions new push against cannabis is truly moronic nonsense all in service to the evil that blocks natural advancements in health and vitality. This nation could not be more evil in regards to its populations health.

    • Heartless says:

I’ve written it here before; but, again – I’ve lived my life totally devoid of any allergies. Nothing insect, plant, animal, food… whatever. Been bitten by a copperhead and made it with no treatment (do NOT advise though anyone trying that), sat on a ground-bee’s next with the predictable results… nothing lasting or life-threatening. But the one thing that I found I am allergic to is egg-yolk-based vaccines. In other words, the common flu shot. Odd, huh? Nothing found in nature; but, only to something made to “help” by science.

  11. Kay123 says:

I don’t take flu shots…never have. Seldom have colds.
When I start sneezing or coughing I wrap up in several
washable blankets until I sweat it out. Fix a ‘Screwdriver’
(vodka and orange juice.) Real juice has vitamin c and
the alcohol kills the germs…right? ⛽️??
Drink ONE 6-8 oz. glass every 6 hours…as needed.
    One day should do it.
Not being a drinker….a little goes a long way.
(Oh…if you have diarrhea you may not want orange juice.)

  12. Karen says:

“Every year, influenza contributes to an estimated 36,000 deaths in the United States.” – That is a big lie. Yes, there are a FEW deaths due to the flu; most people who die already have severely compromised immune systems. Because during the winter we get minimal sunshine, it is imperative that we take lots of vitamin D3 and vitamin C, along with fresh fruits and vegetables, plus get adequate sleep. The flu mutates too quickly so flu shots are basically ineffective, besides putting junk into your bodies.

  13. PO'd Patriot says:

Been years since I have had the flu. Have never received a flu shot either and don’t plan on it. Wipe your hands with an alcohol wipe after you’ve been shopping before you eat and keep your hands away from your eyes, mouth and nose. Just think of all the people that have had their hands on door knobs, money or any item that is handed to you. Almost like Russian Roulette.

  14. Dr. P says:

I am a doctor who works full-time in a hospital. I won’t take the flu shot, so my employer requires that I wear a mask during every patient encounter. I typically see 20-25 patients daily. At first, I was upset about be required to wear a mask, but I have come to like it. It is amazing how many patients cough in my face without covering their mouths. Now I don’t have to worry about it. I agree with all the suggestions above about building up your immune system. You can’t get sick unless you’re sick.

  15. European American says:

Haven’t had the flu since I was a kid, last century. Why is this so?

Could be that I haven’t been vaccinated.

    Eat nutritious, organic food.
    Exercise everyday.
    Get plenty of rest.
Stay away from crowds, when possible.

    What also works for me…
Teaspoon of Slippery Elm in water when I get up in the morning. Best natural supplement for the colon and entire digestive tract; cleans, maintains and rebuilds.
Oceans Alive drops, twice a day.
    OmniBlue Ocean Minerals, everyday.
    Silica caps.

It’s ALL about the Immune System, folks. Keeping it strong.

  16. Natasha says:

Here is what I do to keep from getting the flu:
    1) Take Vit C
    2) Get probiotics in your diet. That is a must. I use Kimchi.
    3) Clean your hands when you arrive home. Make it the first thing you do.
    4) Stay away from enclosed places that have no air flow and where there is a lot of other people.
    4) Clean any device you talk into with rubbing alcohol.
    5) Do not pick your nose, touch your eyes or mouth unless you are 100% sure that your hands are clean.
    5) Clean your tooth brush daily by rinsing it with H2O2.
Here is what I do when I get the flu:
    1) Gargle with H2O2 and sea salt diluted in warm water. Do not drink it. Only gargle.
    2) Smash a garlic clove then chew and swallow as you drink pure orange juice.
    3) Drink warm Chamomile tea. This helps with aches and pains.
    4) Get plenty of rest. (Really important!)
and most important of all NEVER EVER GET A FLU SHOT EVER!!!

  17. Owe the people closest to you a lot of money. That’ll motivate them to nurse you back to health as long as they know that there is no money in your estate if you die.

I’ve heard a lot of good suggestions. If everything else fails have some glutathione suppositories and use them. Combine that with broccoli sprout extract and water cress. These supply the needed support enzymes. Pray like crazy.

The best preventative is a healthy sex life. I haven’t seen any medical research to support it but everyone seems to agree. Sgt. Dale – Get well soon!
