Cold Hard Facts On Gun Bans: “The Cost Of Liberty Can Be Measured In the Loss of Life”
While anti-gun advocates put forth every argument under the sun for why you should not be able to own a “high capacity” magazine that holds more than 10 rounds, or that you shouldn’t be able to buy ammunition online, or that police should stop going to work until guns have been completely banned, the evidence for disarmament of law abiding citizens as a failed policy is overwhelming. In Chicago, where guns have essentially been banned for personal defense, the murder of innocents has risen so sharply in recent months that Mayor Rahm Emanual has been left with no other option but to call on criminals to look to their morals and values to stop the carnage. Washington D.C., which bans the carrying of concealed weapons, has maintained one of the highest gun crime murder rates in the country for over three decades – since the legislation was passed in 1975. As the Washington Post notes, the disarming of local residents has been wholly ineffective noting that the “guns kept coming, and bodies kept falling.” These localized examples of the detrimental effects of restrictive gun policies are nothing, however, when compared to what’s happened in Australia, where the government implemented a “buy back” program in 1997 that completely banned gun ownership for the general population. While Australia’s politician promised a lower crime rate once the ban was in place, the disarming of its citizens has led to exactly the opposite effect.
Here are the cold hard facts from Australia that anti-gun forces can no longer escape:
Like Chicago and Washington D.C., Australia’s gun laws have back fired. The statistics above are rarely if ever reported by mainline news channels in America because the evidence is clear: If you take away guns from law abiding citizens, the only people with guns will be the criminals. Not only is the evidence regularly buried, but harrowing stories of self defense where individuals have taken it upon themselves to protect their lives and property are often downplayed. When a 65 year old jewelry shop owner took matters into her own hands and opened fire on five gun-toting armed robbers recently, what did the local CBS affiliate mention repeatedly in their report?

There is always a risk of an innocent bystander being hit by a rogue bullet, but not one example of such an outcome is ever identified by news reporters citing such information. More often than not, it’s the criminals who shoot indiscriminately that maim or kill a child or other innocent passer-by. Explaining to the anti-gun activists that the benefits far outweigh the risks is like pulling teeth. But, as the 65 year old jewelry store owner, or the patron of an internet cafe, or the mom who acted to save her kids by shooting an armed intruder show, one person with a gun is all it takes to prevent scores of others from being hurt or killed. We can continue down this road of stripping Americans of their liberty and right to defend themselves, and we can be assured that we’ll continue to measure the subsequent fallout by counting it in the loss of innocent life. Or, we can put the power back into the hands of the people and send a message to those who would do harm to others. In Australia, criminals are more empowered than ever before when they see statistics like armed robberies being up 69% or murders being up 21%, because they know the people have no ability to defend themselves. But what if the statistics reported by the media were more like those of Detroit, where self defense killings have jumped 2200% and justifiable homicide is up 79% year-over-year? If local and national news agencies were reporting that crime was falling and more would-be criminals were ending up taking celestial dirt naps when engaged in violent criminal activity, the psychological effects of being aware of these statistics would be a very powerful deterrent indeed. Banning private gun ownership hasn’t worked very well for the people in countries where it has been instituted … Nazi Germany, Russia and China.

The problem for the banksters in removing guns from the American People is that it requires such an obvious breach of the Law that it would startle the sheep into action. It would amount to a declaration that everyone is a slave without rights of self protection in Law.
The financial crimes can now be done in the open, but an effort to take the guns away from the people as INDIVIDUALS will prove to be impossible and dangerous for those sold out deep enough to try.
Perhaps about 25% would be jolted into reality, and all we really need is about a 5% participation rate to be unstoppable. The military might actually stand in the defense of such numbers and actually fight for freedom. Wouldn’t that be a change.
But I am probably just dreaming….

In Oregon, you’re not supposed to defend yourself, but “retreat”, and only defend yourself if you are cornered. And they still might lock you up…
The people who want your firearms care nothing about your ability to defend yourself, they want you disarmed for the express purpose of enslaving you, with a side order of genocide in the end. DurangoKid: You’re on to something here. One guy+one tractor= no police vehicles in Derby, Vt. A new ban is coming: any large vehicle capable of this kind of destruction will either be outlawed or require a special license. Tractors and anything bigger than and F-150 will be impossible to get. Better stock up now before it’s too late. I am kidding of course but then again this is not absurd as it sounds; the governement would love to limit the size of the vehicles we can own.

@ JoeinNC. Thank the constitution and the freedom left that you had that right to purchase and own a couple of guns. It is not just people you have to be worried about, it is rabid animals that are becoming a huge problem in the cities around the world. Without those freedoms we have, they would not even allow you to carry pepper spray to stop some vicous dog from tearing someone apart. “Freedom has a way of slipping through everyone’s fingers because enough people stop caring about it.”
This is truly what it is about, defending yourself against someone or soemthing that will hurt you. Joe, try to imagine living in a place in which you cannot even carry a stun baton to stop a dog with rabies from biting you. There are 8 states that hate freedom that much here in the U.S.

Be Informed: You are on the money, it’s the two-legged and four-legged rabid animals that one has to be prepared for. Virtually everything in nature has adapted means to protect itself and we are no different. As this economic situation continues to worsen we will see services cutback including police and fire. More and more cities and towns are doing this and it will be coming to everyone sooner or later. In Detroit it’s so bad that the cops won’t come for at least 24 hours unless there’s a dead body in the street. It’s going to be YOYO (You’re On Your Own) time for many of us in the months and years ahead. We will be responsible for our own protection and that can’t be done wothout some firearms-period.

I do not recall even one prepper proposing an agenda other than survival and protecting one’s family and property. I was happy to give you the 70th green thumb, and I concur with your opinion. Sad to say, but even the fact that dweeby little computer science instructors like yours truly feel compelled to arm themselves is just NOT penetrating the thick skulls of most people I know. Seriously, if anyone here had any idea how I present in day to day life, you’d probably be saying to yourself “Really? THAT guy is packing? Huh????” It should give one pause: when people such as myself are arming, what does that say about how bad things are becoming?
But it is precisely because I am NOT Rambo that I have armed myself. Law enforcement cannot be everywhere, and its completely irrational to think otherwise. Its nice to think that they would catch the bad guys and put them in jail, but if they’re doing so after these same thugs have murdered me during a home invasion, well, that’s not as great a comfort as being able to defend myself, however imperfectly I might do that.

Every night on the local news we hear of 5-10 stories of car-jackings, robberies, home invasions, kidnappings and assaults. I hate to repeat my self but armed citizens are in my view a deterant against those who would otherwise attack them.
If I am out and about an attacker knows that the chance of me being armed is so remote it is not worth worrying about.
If arms were allowed here I truly believe this would not be the case, the attacker would be taking a gamble with his/her life everytime they made the decision to assault/rape/rob/kill. Many would decide it is not worth the risk.

Me, I’m looking on the bright side of things. Many of us have been in the military and/or in LE. We will be able to provide, at a cost, protection for some of these fools. Those that can’t or won’t pay, will go the way of the dinosaur-extinction. I am a 38-year old father of five working in the insurance sector in Kansas City, Kansas. I stumbled across this website while surfing the internet after the recent shootings in Colorado and Wisconsin. Needless to say, I am not a “Rambo” type.
It is nice to see that there are others out there that think like me. My wife and I both CCW holders as of about six months ago, and are amateur “preppers”; trying to figure out what we need to do when (not if) things go sour.
I know that there are all sorts of beliefs out there on the internet about guns and preparing for bad stuff in the future. We, in Kansas, pride ourselves on helping our neighbors, pulling up our boot straps, and solving our own problems. Nothing highlighted this difference in my opinion better than the flood in New Orleans and the rampant chaos that ensued. Kansas has massive natural disasters every year (tornadoes, blizzards, flooding, wild fires, etc…), and our society handles the bad stuff much better.
My worry is that the bad things that are looming in our future will not be isolated incidents, and I have to worry about protecting my family when no one else can help me. I think that the droughts that we have seen recently in farming country are just the tip of the iceberg, and eventually we won’t be able to produce food for those that don’t know how to grow it themselves.
Secondary to that, I worry about the crazy people that we have in this world and being able to protect my family from them. Across the street from my office, a guy walks into a TV station and starts stabbing people for no apparent reason. Stories like the Aurora movie theatre shooting are commonplace today.
A saying from Boy Scouts comes to mind: “Prepare for the worst, and hope for the best.” After the shooting in Aurora, my wife and I had the discussion about what would have happened if just ONE person in the audience had been a law-abiding CCW holder and had been armed. Many people could have been saved.
I used to be a liberal. Now I’m a realist.

The police were there “within a few minutes.” That’s great, and I am not taking away anything from first responders because they did respond quickly, but even a “few minutes” was much too long.

The speed with which law enforcement arrived does nothing to disguise the fact that the police were still there AFTER the massacre had taken place. They are called first “responders” for a reason: they are only allowed to swing into action in response to something bad that has already happened. They can’t go after the bad guys until they have done something bad. Which means that ultimately, we as citizens are responsible for our own protection.
Here’s something to ponder: what if there had been one honest citizen in that theater who defied the paper protection of the theater being a so-called “gun free” zone? What if that same citizen had used his or her weapon to take down that freak with gonzo thinking and Bozo the clown hair? How would the media have reacted? Would they have praised that citizen for protecting himself and others? Or would they have crucified him as a “vigilante”?
The fact that I feel compelled to ask this question is part of the reason that I have ZERO confidence in the ability of my so-called “betters” to do the right thing.

Who do you think we intended the militia to made up of? And if not private citizens arm and capable of responding then who? We opposed a standing army. The guarantee of a free state by the people was our vision, not a federally controlled military that can terrorize the people they serve. Home invasion in Aussie was lower than most countries and the increase stat is actually low. Six months after the Aussie gun ban, murder and violent assault more than doubled in Australia. Can’t remember the actual source, but I have shared that stat for years with many others.

I was just trying to point out that the stats as quoted did not make sense. I believe if you throw out stats to support an argument or position they should make sense. Otherwise your credibility may suffer. Just ask the BLS
The handle translates into “we are screwed” and perhaps I was a little snarky with my first comment. Of course if I provide cause for someone to think and in the future provide more meaningful examples to elucidate their position, that may be a good thing.

I think a nice, old fashioned duel, when discussion has reached an impasse, to be the most honorable of all solutions. Think of it: You step onto the field of honor, with your second, armed a cell phone to dial 9-1-1, and I also step onto the field with my .357 mag. A disinterested third party explains the rules of decency, as we hard eye each other. Then, (drum roll please) the third party drops a handkerchief and we draw. What chance does an elderly person or a tiny women have against a criminal that is muscle bound and has no weapon at all? The criminal’s mere body is a weapon to someone much smaller. How does a much smaller person defend themselves against a much tougher opponent without a weapon? They don’t, they become a victim. Take away people’s self defense and you make a whole lot of innocent victims.

When you said that Americans wore open carry guns in 1900 and that did not help or stop crime, I naturally thought that this was implying that you thought that guns and open carry was not necessary because it did no good. This is true that you did not say that banning guns was want you wanted. I to sometimes say something that is misconstrued by others. People are totally on edge about everything right now and the mere thought that the state is trying to take away a person’s self defense is a horrible thought for people.
I have talked with relatives and others that live in these non-free zones in the United States in which they cannot carry firearms unless they are some law enforcement or something. They also cannot carry stun batons or they have to go through all sorts of legal “hoops” to carry pepper spray to protect themselves. These rotten law makers would have some poor elderly person defend themselves with a rolled up newspaper rather than carry a stun baton against a 135 pound vicous dog.
It just really sounded like what you were saying is that self protection did no good when people carried weapons. It just sounded like some of these characters that do around preaching against any self defense, because it does nothing, that crime is going to get you anyway. Crime where I live is deterred because people are quite well armed and the criminal knows this. An animal knows nothing, and many lives have been saved because someone had a weapon. Weapons are not a detterent to animals, they just most of the time stop someone from having to go to the plastic surgeon.
Again, people are on edge about having their self defense taken away from them by individuals that have no respect for victims and more regard for criminals and their rights. It just sounded like what you said was that you were on the side of the anti-self defense characters.
I personally totally defend all victims to defend themselves with any weapon they can use to save themselves. The second the criminal attacks an innocent victim, in my opinion, they lose all rights because they made that personal choice to attack a victim that has done nothing. This is why I become so upset with these individuals that want to prevent the innocent from saving themselves from something that should never happen to them in the firstplace. The most corrupt governments do the most they can to take away citizens’ rights to defend themselves.

In 1900, like now, most crime was committed by criminals against other criminals. The random violence we see now was very nearly non-existent. In 1900, few criminal cases were appealed, the verdict was the verdict and to jail they went. In 1900, if you shot your criminal assailant, absolutely nothing would happen to you. In 1900, no attorney would consider suing a citizen for defending himself. In 1900, if you committed murder, you swung for it, within weeks, rarely more than a year. In 1900, the courts would never consider letting a guilty man walk away because of some legal technicality. In 1900, the police would lock up a criminal on sight, just for the principle of it. In 1900, the government would never even consider allowing illegal aliens to reside in this country for so much as one day after discovery.

@ Smokey. Exceptional post. In 1900 there was also something lacking, fiat currency. It seems after money became more and more worthless, people got entrapped into this credit world and forgot about what really matters just like the way people did business with each other. It seems like as money lost value, so did common sense and knowing the difference between what is right and wrong. Coincidence?, maybe, maybe not. In the 112 years since 1900, the criminal that brutally tortures people is now gaining more sympathy for what society has done to this psycho than the victims that lived in the same society and CHOOSE to live it correctly without harming others.
In 1900 there were some cases of false imprisonment, but in most cases the criminal scum was taken care of. Now these monsters will lock you up in some states even when you retreat in your own home from some criminal. I even heard one of the stupidest comments ever that someone said that even in your own home you have the responsibility to keep it safe for anyone that enters it, even a criminal. To think that someone like this could even say something so absurd mystifies me. I guess they could be addicted to huffing on condenced air in a can or something and their brain is physically gone.
It is so terrifying to see what has happened. People now have no idea between what is fair and is not fair. They have no comprehension between what is a monster of society and a victim. They have no idea between right and totally wrong. They have no understanding about how to stop crime. They just don’t get it that criminals are predators that prey on the weak and the defenseless and are such cowards that they don’t attack hardly ever anyone that is armed. When these criminal slime do attack someone that knows how to use a firearm, you hear a small blip on the media about a brave little old lady that saved her family because she knew how to defend everyone with a firearm. No victim here.
Talking about victims. These bleeding hearts are such that if a group of them saw a pervert grab a child, they would all tell each other to call 911 rather than try to help the child. Then when the poor child turns up dead somewhere they would all get into a group and hug each other and weep for the child, AND the criminal pervert that the law might execute that was caught. They have such low energy because of not knowing what is right and wrong they leech energy off each other like the energy vampires that they are. When someone has will and strong convictions their entire being is strong. These bleeding hearts are so weak spiritually that they amount to nothing as people in many ways.
This is what the society is becoming, huggy, touchy, total wimps that feel more sorry for the criminal than the victims. If it wasn’t for those that have something to them (those that have conviction and inner strength), if the entire country was nothing but these don’t hurt anyone’s feelings (not even the criminal) individuals, a Central American army could roll in and take over the country without too much trouble. A dying economy to go along with a dying American spirit with the majority of the population.
I guess all one can do is try to live in one of the few free states left and avoid these states that empower the criminal like someone would not visit North Korea, Cuba, Iran, or other countries that have no freedom at all.

Crime rates pre 1900 per capita most certainly were lower than those of today,so much so that you would be shocked if you found out how much lower. I don’t know where you are getting your information but I would change sources.
ANY crime but especially murder was considered heinous and was highly reported back then. Robbery, assault, rape, and murder were all very rare, pre 1900 and even as late as 1930′s. That is when our benevolent government started to make and pass their “reasonable” gun laws and kinder and gentler sentencing and prosecutions of criminals.
Everyone knows of the Saint Valentines day massacre but few stop and put 2+2 together and realize exactly what that was in context to today’s crimes. That it was reported in every paper and all around the world in 1929,that only 7 gangsters were killed,no children, no innocent victims, no 70 plus unarmed movie goer’s, just 7 armed gangsters that were thugs and law breakers were killed got that much coverage and that it was Labeled a “Massacre” and warranted us now knowing about it almost 100 years later? why? They attacked Pearl Harbor because that is where Roosevelt moved the Fleet, from California to Hawaii, in order to deploy forward and intimidate the Japanese. If the Fleet had stayed in California, the Japanese submarine forces would have ambushed it when they sortied out to attack the Japanese Fleet off the California coast. If the Japanese had appeared between Hawaii and California, the US would have considered that an act of war and launched hostilities right then. That would have probably gotten our entire Fleet sunk in deep water, with many thousands more US dead.
The Japanese did intend on invading Hawaii following their planned victory at Midway in June, 1942. They would have stopped there, for that very reason, behind every blade of grass would have been a rifle, once they landed on the mainland.

Its a good thing i live in PA. I have the right to defend myself and my family. I was looking at property in NJ but when i found out about how bad the gun laws were there i changed my mind fast. Its pretty bad you have to runaway from some who it trying to hurt you, your family, and your property.

Trenton Politics is the process by which elected officials pad the state payroll with as many friends as possible thereby costing you $8000/yr in property taxes at the least. You get to go through a process as intrusive to buy a BB gun that other states put you through to get a carry permit. You also get gun laws so complex and confusing that people have been charged and pled guilty only to find out later they did not break the law to begin with.

I voted with my feet in 91 and fled the Socialist Republic of NJ. Guns laws, taxes, insurance rates and regulations abound there. They actually have an exit tax if you sell your home in NJ and move to another state. The gaul they have has no bounds.
Putting weather aside show me a state with favorable gun laws and I’ll show you a decent, generally more affordable place to live.

Every state that has any law concerning guns that are in addition to the only true gun law the second amendment, is only just a few unconstitutional laws away less than NJ, that’s all. Give them time and they will be right there lock step with them.You name me one state that has not SEVERELY limited your right to keep and bear arms? Texas? Wyoming? Last time I checked to carry a concealed weapon there you still had to get a ccw. And to own a full auto was almost impossible. Those sure seem like “infringements” to me.

WE have trusted OUR elected Representatives to serve US and enact legislation to preserve, protect, and promote the interests of the American taxpayer and family, but they have sold US out to 147 multi-national corporations who control 60% of ALL GDP in the world.

Senator Leland Yee of San Francisco now trying to ban and confiscate more so-called “assault weapons.”
Originally, Senate Bill 249 was a quiet agriculture bill that passed in the California Senate back in May. With sneaky back-door tactics, Senator Yee turned the bill into a gun ban monster.
SB 249, as amended, would make a small but profound change to the definition of what constitutes a detachable magazine for a semiautomatic firearm. By doing so, hundreds of thousands of semi-automatic rifles, which were legally sold in California over the last decade, would become illegal on July 1, 2013.
The existing definition of detachable magazine was used by Governor Brown’s administration for the four years he served as Attorney General.
Senator Yee’s bill has no provisions to allow permitting, licensing or reimbursement for the loss of valuable property. Worse yet, the bill doesn’t require a public notice program to advise owners of this change in state law.
Thousands of owners could be arrested for inadvertent violations. If you own an affected firearm, your only choices would be to destroy it, surrender it to a law enforcement agency, sell it out of state or have it confiscated at the time of your arrest! Which option would you prefer?

Ask yourself a simple question. The entire framework of the Second Amendment debate puts Constitutional advocates in an anti US position in many peoples eyes. Post WWII the US changed. The power structure may have changed previously but government actions changed significantly. The US started to police the world and was quite willing to expend US treasure in both lives and bodies to do it. Vietnam was the first eye opener with one side rightly claiming the war was “illegal” and the other side seeing every war as WWII with an “America love it or leave it” mentality. Even the most serious flag waving believer is now seeing a post US industrial evisceration that something is seriously wrong.
I was fortunate to have listened to Charlton Heston’s give his, “From my cold dead hands” speech live. That described the America that I was taught as a kid. Being in my mid 50s I’m probably at the very tail end of that education.

The NRA is the organization that has the political muscle and skill to navigate through that mess called government and make effective change minimizing the worst and promoting the best. Their accomplishments are too numerous to list but you have about 43 shall issue states today and Clintons ban faded into oblivion in 2004.
I have the highest respect for JPFO and am proud to say I was a charter member. May Aaron Zelman rest in peace. He was a fine tireless champion of the Second Amendment and I’m fortunate to have known him.

Fact… IF you are a RePUBICan, then yes, NRA is great. You need to study up on their tactics and the beliefs a little bit more. Even since Heston passed, they’ve gone to hell in a hand-basket politically speaking. Cam Edwards is a good guy, and yes the NRA does good things. But just because an entity does good things does NOT make them good!

Only the NRA has the political muscle to get things done on Capital Hill. Theory is nice but practically is reality and the NRA deals in that world. I have debated this with Aaron (God rest his Soul) and Neal Knox (God rest his Soul too). Both were great men with Aaron and Jay doing great research and Neal being the Founding Father of the NRA-ILA.
The NRA backs politicians on one issue REGARDLESS OF PARTY and that’s their stand and voting record regarding the Second Amendment. All one needs to do is look at the NRA-ILA voting guide.

Can I assume there is some logic in that statement? I’ll take the 2004 passing of the Clinton ban and shall issue states continuing to be added. So far we have been winning both legally and socially with more people believing gun ownership is a right.
I’m well aware of the NRAs reluctance to go forward with Heller verses DC. It was the “winner take all” that frightened them. We won by one Justice. One cannot say that their fear was unfounded. As I said they operate in the real world.

Oh one more recent NRA victory is that they had the political muscle to persuade 51 US Senators to write President Obama and state that they would not vote for the UN Arms Treaty. Needing 2/3 of Senate the Treaty was effectively terminated. One can say, “Well only for now” and yes that is true and the NRa will be standing right in their way. That’s why the NRA never sleeps. Shall Issue carry permits in 43 states, Clinton gun ban gone, McDonald v Chicago and Heller v DC and UN Treaty derailed.

I was once a person who once trusted the current system of government to care about it’s people and their safety.That included the laws and those who enforce them.In our lifetime these have undergone massive changes for the worse.My opinions on people being able to carry weapons for defense of self,family and property have changed in favor of personal gun ownership.I suspect that having personal means to defend my family and my home from “gun-toting” thugs is the only logical choice left.Unfortunately,I took all of mine when I went fishing in a nearby large river and they all fell overboard!How careless of me!

People may say I’m nuts, so lets look at it. December 23, 1913 the Federal Reserve act is signed. 1935 Social Security is enacted, 1938 Federal National Mortgage Co. (Fannie Mae) 1960 the Great Society, 1968 Medicaid & Food Stamps, 1970 FHLMC (Freddie- Mac) Fannie Mae’s evil twin) 1977 the Community Reinvestment Act, 1994 NAFTA, 1999 Bank Deregulation. I could go on and on, but how many of you opposed any of these acts or knew anyone who opposed these acts?
So what makes you think Gun control will be any different? Like many of the above Acts The media and government don’t really tell you what they are doing or their real intent. The Health Care bill is a prime example. The government will do and say anything to get gun control past or usurp the Constitution with the UN Arms Trade Treaty.
Our leaders in Washington are Statist and they want you to be a good little subject, not a Citizen. There is only one way to stop these politicians and that is to restrict them to the constitution and take the money away for everything that is not in the Constitution.

Genocide by governments have killed more than 260 million people in the last 100 years alone. In Rawanda in 1994 the “army” in charge killed close to 1,000,000 in 100 days. The Russian’s killed 2 million in Afghanistan in the 1970′s and early 1980′s. And of course we all know it can’t happen to us, and that is exactly what the enlightened Jewish community of Europe thought in the 1930′s.
It won’t happen in America thanks to our 300 million guns in private hands. Still it can impact us though, it can even bankrupt us as our leaders (the same one’s that would ban guns) put our troops in harms way to prevent another population from doing it to – itself. See the headlines on Syria today. We are spending money there to prevent a government from slaughtering its people.

Your city has been in the news recently. There have been far too many incidents of gun violence, and many attribute it too poor gun control. Your city and your state have more controls on legal firearms then most, and that is why I write to you.
I suggest, strongly, you study Switzerland. You will find that arming able bodies men of sound mind to defend the nation isn’t a bad idea, and maybe its time you incorporate that to defend your city.
Perhaps next time a gang decides to commit a “drive by” the armed citizens of Chicago can rise up and put down the perpetrator. That, perhaps, would be the last time a gang might consider doing such a drive by.

I don’t know if your numbers as presented (260 million) are correct. I used specifically governments killing their own citizens in which many official records support. The gross number of murders committed by governments upon civilian populations outside of their own and collateral damage as of a result of direct military attack does exceed the 55 million of governments killing their own unwanted people.
Regardless the number be it 55 million or 260 million of civilians killed by governments is staggering.
If they desired to stop genocide in Africa the way is to drop food and weapons to the persecuted groups. Heck, don’t destroy the guns confiscated from criminals worldwide. They are just a tool. Put them in a mothers hand with ammo in Africa and let me see you try to take that bowl of rice from her child. Problem half solved. Teach her later how to farm that grain and give her the tools and self sufficiency is then obtained. Problem then is 100% solved.
It ain’t the gun it’s a question of who’s hands the gun is in. The bad be it rogue government or criminal will always be armed. There is no other logical alternative but to arm the good.

Kevin2 the figure was 260-65 million and includes a great deal of Chinese and Russian losses, it also includes (as I mentioned to those who don’t fear it) those who died trying to stop it – such as our parents/grand parents in WWII.
You are correct about Africa and it is the same answer that should be applied to any group that is being killed off – give them the guns, ammo, and ability to create their own food and water and let them take care of themselves. This is also the answer for Chicago and any other city. Chicago could probably find 20,000, 50,000 maybe even a 100,000 law abiding homes ready to receive training, an AR-15, magazines and ammunition – then ready to defend themselves.
There was recently a post here about the 500 cops against the 100,000 gang members in Chicago. 500 police cost a city about $60,000,000 a year. For that money you can properly arm and train 25,000 homes quite easy. After 4 years the law abiding will out number the gangs and the problem will be solved.

The country is being infiltrated by outsiders funded by powers that have an agenda that doesn’t include the present Syrian government.I have seen reports that Syrian government troops were actually evacuating and protecting the civilians in Aleppo to prevent them from being killed by the so called rebels.

Thomas Jefferson…

Those quotes and actions are disturbing thats for sure, but not surprising(to a student of mankinds history).
I am white. I would like to point out what happened to my tribe(a collection of 1000 farms in south eastern europe), when the ottoman empire was sweaping into that part europe.
They(ottomans) thought the people there were below them(especialy the ones that resisted the change), killed man,women and child.
Burned out houses, destroyed crops and live stock, and stole ALL their land, they were displaced and eventually(over time) the surviving members filtered to america.

well i think thats a great idea if cops stay off work, 1st week could speed and not worry about tickets, at night we know the types of people that like to break into homes and shoot them dead, then just throw the bodies into the trash each thursday after the garbage guys come by. we would be cleaning up the streets rather quickly, i like that idea of cops not working. gang bangers cant shoot very well either. great idea. even while your at it, let them all out of jail too and if they break in we shoot them dead. no problem for us. we are prepared.

another tip, these swat teams are using plates ar500 steel that resists many .223 ar-15 shots and ceramic plates on top of kevlar, you best defense is a clear shot to the face or duck and aim for a slug to his groin or his upper femar and snap it, he will go down and lose blood quickly. I think the upper leg spot is best spot to aim for with buckshot or slug. they usually dont use protection in those areas. some cops wear these sportswear pants that have levels of kevlar in some troops so take out the upper femar region. they will drop from the pain and shock. better and easier shot from behind car tires or under etc. dont be afraid to leave a gun in the neibors gutter so if you take a shot from elevated height you can drop off roof and move away, never let know your firing on your own properety otherwise they will call in support to your home and all your stuff is gone unless its just insane society breakdown. not making this up, any thoughts?

clint hospo…great post..you make a valid point about ways around body armor and I like the way you think, however, most gun owners never prepare tactically, they punch paper to improve aim. It is a whole other world when your adrenalin is pumping when some bastard is shooting at you. Gosh, I had so much to say in response to your post but I got lost in thinking about how sad we have become as a society. I am tactically trained and I am confident that if an intruder ever got in my home, he would lose, but one trained gunner against a tactically trained SWAT team is pretty much a no-win situation.
I had a long talk with my youngest son last night about where the human race is right now. I always thought I would die on my motorcycle but I told my son that I WILL give up my life to defend my right to own guns. I told him that if the day ever arrives that the POS gov bans weapons and comes for mine that they will probably get me because I have no stronger belief in my body than our RIGHT to own weapons. I will make it costly for “them” to come for my guns. There was a line in the movie Braveheart about dying that went something like this…”all men die, but how many really live?” That one line from a movie changed my life and made me realize that some things in life are worth dying for. Our family and friends, ourselves, and our GOD-given Rights. I have always tried to live my life so that I could one day meet my maker and have HIM smile at me. I always belived that taking another life would doom me but I believe now that in this crazy world we are in that HE would understand that it may in fact come to having to take another life/lives. I am not looking forward to it but I won’t go quietly.
I hope I am making sense, I got a little too deep into the whiskey bottle last night and my vision has just finally returned, lol. I guess my point is that we all need to stop and really think, and get our minds around the fact that one day it will come to killing. That has been part of my prepping. Having provisions is a great thing but the mental horrors we may expirience will take a toll on even the most unwavering Patriots. All the prepping in the world will all be for naught if you don’t gather your resolve and get our minds around some of the things we may be forced to do. I love the comments on this board and it brings a tear to my eye when I read posts fron real Americans that just want to be left alone and live. you were not ranting at all. its the truth and you can tell someone who means in from the heart and has done it vs the people that see things in movies. bare with me on my writing because I get off track quick. 1st wear earplugs to keep noise down and flahbnags etc from effecting your focus. 2nd high confidence is what makes you a half sec faster and more controlled than the swat team. 3. a dummy with a fake ak-47 in your living room in position at front door which when swat comes in will throw them off for about 1-1.5 sec. That is critical time that keeps you from having the barrel pointed at you and for you to make the shot and take one down. I have tons of smoke and I know teams can inter anytime in mack speed you want to cause mass confusion or anything that can give you a sec or 2 to get a clear shot on 1-2. if two men go down they will be in disarrey and gives you an advantage. vasoline on the floor to slip to a fan blowing gasloine into their area, anything you can think of can make a big difference. never have windows on sides they can see a clear view or reiw view door, you dont know which side it could happen at. im planning on taking my .338 laupa first sign of entry after shot just dropping the gun literally and should take 1-2 out. hell it goes thru 1 inch steel, have tried it. then 8 shots of buckshot staggered with slug eavery other shot, followed by a modified ps90 if you get the idea with ss190 ammo. and running to next location in less than 7 sec. then next set of weapons same idea different order, i could fail or mabye be ok, who knows, but the difference im faster physically and at the range than most swat officers i have shot with and not bragging im just saying i know my abilities and want you to know yours too. remember to use smarts and wat entrys you have never seen before and come up with your own, imagine swat comes in with 5 guys and yo have 3 5 feet x 4 feet wide steel plates in 3 different locations you can get beind as a barrier, that would throw them off with some tank of gas made into a flame thrower right above the door, that causes confusion. i dont want this to ever every happen to our friends brothers officers, i just hope that the corrupt liberals overall leave us alone. i wish everyone could go home to their special person or even pareants and if you know someone that maybe needs a friend do it make one as long as you can trust them. make someone feel good about themselves. this is a lonely world and we need to bond together not break us apart.

Actually from the FBI Uniform Crime reports the total number of murders is approximately 12000 per year with firearms of all types being accounting for 9000.
A very high percentage of murder victims socialize and circulate in the criminal environment. Often it’s criminal A killing criminal B or just being in their circles where self control is not their strong suit. Add alcohol and drugs into the mix and bad decisions go up dramatically.
The bottom line is if you live in civilized circles your chances of being attacked are pretty slim. That being said just because your safe with sources of ignition to prevent fire you still have a smoke alarm. A gun is just wise to have.

@ ML Hooker. It is not just about firearms, it is about freedom. I don’t know if you understand how the constitution works, but as simple as it gets, the constitution is a safety net against tyranny. It does not matter when the constitution was written and what the conditions of the frontier life was like, a person has a right to defend themselves against being injuried, raped, or killed. Non-lethal devices, that are also being outlawed all the time, have a limited range. When someone is being attacked you want to keep as much distance as possible between you and your attacker as possible.
Hooker, if a rabid Rottweiler just happens to come through your open door and is staring at you across the room, would you not wish you had a loaded gun in your own home to stop this possible deadly threat to you and your family. The inner cities are full of roaming starving dogs, coyotoes, and other feral animals such as even very large dangerous hogs that can gore someone to death. I have relatives in california that say there are coyootes all over the place, including very vicous wild dog packs. So your assessment over times have changed to not warrant gun ownership seems very inaccurate to say the least.
I see this so often, those that oppose gun ownership never actually face to face with how a firearm, which is a tool, can save a person’s life. There are actually people that are so radicalized that they won’t even consider carrying bear pepper spray in Montana, Canada, or Alaska because it is a weapon. Then when some Grizzly Bear decides to tear off a limb and the person is sitting in some ER room what do they say? I sure wish I had something to stop the bear from ripping my arm and leg off. I see how quickly these radical anti-self defense individuals become the biggest hypocrites after something happens to them or their family members from an attacker that had NO WEAPON, they used their own bodies as a weapon.
Hooker, next time you are face to face with a large wild animal or some muscle bound very tall weidro pervert that has no weapon, just stick by your anti-self defense stance, it will serve you well.

Like I said before anyone that wants to ban gun ownership and self defense is either:
A. Part of the crime syndicate, and desiring to empower criminals.
B. Too incredibly stupid and naive that it is amazing that they can dress themselves and function at all.
There is no C.
It irritates me already enough to see these horrible monsters that want to take away a good citizen’s right to own and possess a firearm, but it goes beyond this. These pieces of evil filth and those that have support this evil want to even take away ALL self defense of the innocent. These mongoloids will support fully the evil that wants to remove everything that someone tiny, frail, elderly, or grossly outnumbered can use to defend themselves. The mere thought that any state would outlaw someone having a TASER or a totally non-lethal stun gun is criminal. There are 8 states out of 5o plus D.C. that do just this.
Everyone that cannot stand BO is not going to get much better in romney has he is from massachusetts, the fearless leader of that state that bans almost as much self defense as new york does. He did nothing to support self defense rights and personally this scares me if he actually did win. BO of course is more frighteing, but romney doesn’t give me much confidence in people retaining their rights to defend themselves. This is besides the point right now.
The real issue here is that THEY want to not only get rid of guns, THEY want to get rid of every last single weapon you have. THEY empower the evil and the criminal by taking away an innocent person’s right to defend themselves. Having a firearm is totally your right and THEY know that total control is necessary to take away the citizen’s firearms first. Then to exert further control THEY take away anything that a citizen can use besides a firearm to defend themselves, so the citizen now is totally helpless and at the mercy of the state and the criminal.
The common imbecile bleeding heart has not usually been attacked, beat up, raped, robbed, or had a family member so by some crimianl scum that HAS NO WEAPON AT ALL. I often use the analogy of putting one of these idiots into a situation in which the opponent has NO WEAPON but is much tougher or many more of them. The anti-self defense law does absolutely no good when the idiot that hates guns and every self defense weapon when they are being victimized and have no way of equalizes the assault. Again, having some poor elderly person try to defend themselves and avoid being brutally injuried or killed by some young muscle bound thug is the same as one of these anti-self defense characters face off against a fully grown 200 pound chimpanzee.
These characters cannot understand this because their brain is spaced out in the unrealistic world of la-la land. This individual has less common reasoning and intelligence than most animals and actually belongs in a zoo for others to point at, under the sign, bleeding heart idiot, please don’t make any sudden noises as can cause uncontrolled wimpering. The politician and the elitist know exactly why they what to take away someone’s self defense, CONTROL of the masses.
Today they had a comic in the newspaper about “identify the madman”, and it truly showed how totally screwed up how the define someone that enjoys freedom. You had one nut job with the statement, “I want to kill as many people as I can”, the next one had a a radical looking person with a hat with an upside down flag saying” I need 20 assault rifles to feel safe, then some TV preacher saying, “violent enetetainment is Satan’s toll”, then some stary eyed female nut case with a flower in ITS hair saying, “let’s get rid of a;; the guns in the world”, then someone with a cooking pot on his head and a t-shirt with the words The UN is coming saying, “take away my sem-autos and uncle sam will subjugate us”, and finally someone with their hands in their mouth saying, ” things will get better just don’t speak up”. This is just a comic but shows much.
The general public is being told that remaining quiet and another gun attack will occur. That anyone that sees how THEY are trying to take away people’s freedoms are nut jobs. That not all guns need to be taken away, just let those in pwer have them. That anyone that speaks up against the perversion on the TV and elsewhere is a right wing radical. That someone that has a lot of firearms is dangerous and ready to break. Of course the psycho is accurately depicted. This is the image that even the comic strips are trying to portray of those that cherish freedom and the laws and protections against granted to all people of the United States that a dictator would take away everything that someone has.
There is some serious mind altering garbage going on that is trying to fool the common idiot into giving up EVERYONE’S right to defend themselves. YES, freedom can be taken away. There are FIRST steps to taking away freedom. Limiting freedoms has a terrible way of gaining momentum like a snowball going down a snowfield on a deep slope. Look at what they can do if enough bleeding heart non functioning almost brain dead characters back it:
First they take away the right to how many rounds can be contained in a magazine, already have doen this is many states.
Second they take the semi-automatic ability of a firearm, in other words you have to cock back something to engage another round.
Third limit the size of cartridge, maybe down from 50 caliber to 38 caliber or less.
Next they limit the firearms to carry only 6 rounds or less, even in revolvers.
Next maybe outlaw even revolvers.
Next only allow single shot firearms.
Then ban all firearms.
Then ban all weapons to defend yourself one by one until someone cannot even carry a ball bat.
Then make it a crime to defend yourself, that only law enforcement can defend you. Don’t think it can happen? In many countries this is approaching this level as citizens are terrified to even carry anything that could be thought of as a weapon. Empower the criminal and the true evil of the state. That might not be the plan with some, but that is ALWAYS the RESULT.

Right now I am at a lost for words. This country is done plain and simple. All goverments from the bottom to the top is totaly out of control. @JoeinNC. You seem to have an excessive misconception that preppers and many that own firearms are total irresponsible whackos. If you know most preppers they are much aware of what means missing a target and the bullet going through a couple of walls and hitting an innocent person. Most preppers take owning a gun very seriously and take more added precautions than most people driving their cars, like the idiots texting while driving and not just waiting until they stop to do they business. Believe it or not preppers are some of the safest gun owners there are.
If someone lives for example in an apartment and a mere wall of some studs and dry wall separate them from their neighbors, there are very safe means of protecting themselves with a firearm. For one it is call shot shells that will go only so far and only so deep into anything. I rather try to stop someone with buckshot, but birdshot will definitely stop a psycho that broke into your home as long as they are not totally covered from head to toe with body armour. All you are trying to do is protect yourself, and thinking of your neighbor if you miss is of course being safe and sane. Banning all firearms because some 65 year old lady that “might” miss and hit an unintended target would be insane.
I really hope you don’t have preppers into the category of someone that blindly unloads a 20 or 30 round magazine of 4000+ feet per second bullets at some shadow that looks like an intruder in every other direction totally oblivious to all those that live around them. The mere fact that preppers can organize food, water, supplies, and have the insight to keep this for an emergency that 99% of the rest of the population is too naive, too lazy to do, shows an extremely responsible person. This includes usually with respect to firearms.

Totally Off Subject: I live in NE OK and there is currently a wildfire destroying homes and pastures. The fire has resulted in a loss of electrical power in most of the hardest hit areas. This is a perfect example of why to prep and prepare. Numerous people are looking for information on loved ones, most apparently had no alternate bug out plan and are subsequently loosing everything. Those not living in the area but have family in the area up in arms complaining that the media wont help by covering the story. It is literally chaos, and the residents had a full day if not a day and a half to prepare. Everybody is counting on someone else to take care them as far as info, assistance, shelter, water, food, clothing. I have more concerns than ever about what will happen when the SHTF.
The situation is best described as a society of children that have lost their parents. These people are at a loss for answers you can see it in there faces and hear it in there voices.
If you have not started prepping, it’s not to late. Start small, the LDS website has an excellent year long plan for gathering and storing preps.
Just remember, that in a true emergency YOU become your own Police, Fire and EMS. Not to mention that your family will still count in you for the basics.
I’ll simply ask you this, had this been an explosion, chemical spill, or even a fire in your neighborhood, ARE YOU READY?

@ DPS. Thank goodness that there are still people out there like yourself that constantly remind us all that freedom is much too much taken for granted. When people forget, those that want to destroy liberties can chip away at it easier. Those in high control positions know that the ability for someone to defend themselves goes hand in hand with how quickly and how easily they can gain complete control. Most preppers know this, but the masses don’t and soon forget history that continues to repeat itself over and over again like a carousel.
It is pathetic that so many have to be relentlessly reminded of the dangers of freedoms slipping away, but you do what must be done. Even if you didn’t write it, you continue to do the good work that this was meant to do by continuing to send it. Two thumbs up!

Great post, DPS. Only one thing wrong with it. The numbers are too low. In China, for example, the peasants were unable to possess arms even before the Communists. That meant warlords ruled cities and provinces, and millions killed or starved. When the Communists came, they liquidated the propertied landlord class, families and all. most estimates are up to 100 million dead.
Don’t forget the USA. Bill Ayres, the President’s own political guru, says 25 million Americans will need to be killed, so these scumbags can have their American Dystopia.

I am glad I live in Indiana. You can get your lifetime concealed carry permit for $125.00 by simply filling out the form and making a trip to the Sheriff’s Office. We have a stand your ground law and earlier this year Governor Mitch Daniels signed Senate Enrolled Act 1 into law in Indiana. The new law allows citizens to use deadly force against police officers they think are illegally entering their homes. In the rural community that I live in, it is not a question of IF their is a gun in the house the question is how many and what caliber.

The statistics related to global gun ownership (these can be confirmed via multiple sources) do not bear out the hype about being ‘tooled up’. It has been shown that countries with high levels of gun ownership and poor gun control have high levels of gun death related to homicide but more importantly suicide.
For instance Switzerland has a low death rate due to gun related homicides (rich society so less robberies is more the truth) but a high suicide rate due to the accessibility of guns. The US has the highest death rates from gun homicide and suicide of any Western country. This does not include all those killed through gun accidents.

South Africa – 23
US – 3.92
Switzerland – 0.93
Canada – 0.69
Germany – 0.33

I live in Australia and I would point out that the total of numbers of gun death have been falling. They were falling even before the Australian Government’s gun ‘buyback’ scheme. With the buyback scheme the numbers of gun related suicides has also fallen.
The powers that be don’t care if you have guns. They are better organised, have more and bigger guns and most importantly control the media and peoples minds (aka Nazi Germany).

They absolutely do care. What they don’t care about is you. If they did they would go after the most likely causes of death in the US. Doctors loose their licenses to practice in one state in the US only to legally practice in another while preventable medical mistakes claim approximately 100,000 lives annually. In the meantime rifles of all types including semi auto account for approximately 350 murders per year. Drugs cross the US southern border that is so unguarded that up to one million people per year cross into the US illegally. So much for fighting terrorism.

I seem to remember that Russia had a number of gun clubs before WWII and these trained shooters were a decisive factor in the Battle of Stalingrad. The number of snipers who could shoot and disappear were major contributors to driving the Germans back. I guess this shows the benefits of armed and trained civilians.

Oh I just can’t seem to see a relationship between guns and suicide considering many of the high suicide countries have either outright gun bans or extremely restrictive ownership laws for civilians with low rates of firearm possession.

I do not know why we have to fight so hard to keep what is garrenteed by Our Constitution. If those individuals do not like it, they should move to another country. Another thing is that they move from an area they contaminated with all sorts of taxes and laws that they created and can not stand it any longer. Then after they move to the new state, they feel they have to have they same laws and taxes they fled. If you don’t like guns or the death penalty, just stay where your are.
I’m tired of the parents of the murderer, saying he was a good boy, when he has a wrap sheet as long as your arm. Try them in a court of law. Convict them with DNA and hard evidence and then have public executions. Yes, show the younger generation this is what happens to you if you do evil. They play video games that are just as gory as real life. Let’s give them the real thing.
The way to kill the “GUN ISSUE” is take away “CRIME”.
Burglars, Rapists, Murderers, Child Molesters and many more would die under my laws. You do the crime, You don’t get “TIME”.
