Claim: We Found the Holy Grail: “The Cup Which Touched the Lips of Jesus Christ”

Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
    Matthew 26:27-29

holy-grail(Pictured: The Infanta Dona Urraca identified as the legendary Holy Grail of scripture)

It was shared with his disciples at the last supper and just days later St. Joseph of Arimathea used it to collect the blood and sweat of Jesus Christ as his grand-uncle tended to him on he cross. When he was subsequently imprisoned in a tomb for several years Joseph reportedly sustained his life with its power by consuming fresh water and food from it until his release. At that point it was reportedly transferred to a spectacular castle in a region called Corbenic somewhere in modern day England. The location of the castle itself has been veiled in secrecy and purportedly lost to history.

But the legendary story didn’t end there.

The Knights Templar searched Europe and Arabia for it, as did the Nazi’s during the middle of the 20th century. Historians and treasure hunters the world over have spent centuries looking for the Cup of Life and today some 200 chalices lay claim to the title of “The Holy Grail.”

But according to a new book titled Kings of the Grail, two researchers claim they have conclusive evidence that they have found the one and only, true Holy Grail of scripture. After a three year quest involving analysis from ancient documents, starting with an Egyptian parchment that describes the grail in detail, authors Margarita Torres and Jose Manuel Ortega del Rio say there is absolutely “no doubt” that the cup which touched the lips of Jesus Christ has been identified.

Their research led them to a a museum in San Isidro Basilica in the northwestern Spanish city of Leon, where the cup has been on display in a small viewing room for years.

The supposed Holy Grail was offered to King Fernando I, who ruled between 1037 and 1065, as a peace offering by the head of a Muslim kingdom within Spain, the historians said.

The cup, made of agate, gold and onyx, is actually two goblets formed together, the authors claim.

The artifact had been known until last week as the goblet of the Infanta Dona Urraca, King Fernando I’s daughter.

With so many other historical investigations making similar claims the evidence for the Infanta Dona Urraca being the Grail has yet to be scrutinized by scholars, but Torres and Ortega del Rio are certain they have found the treasure of the ages.

    holy-grail-2

At first glance, the jewel encrusted Grail is the opposite of what one might expect a carpenter’s cup would look like. But according to the researchers the jewels and other accouterments were added much later.

There is ‘no doubt’ it contains the cup which touched the lips of Jesus Christ, two historians claim.

In an explosive book charting three years of ‘scientific research’, Margarita Torres and Jose Ortiza del Rio reveal there is conclusive evidence from scrolls in Egypt that confirm their theory.

The onyx vessel made between 200 BC and 100 AD, they claim, is trapped inside a bejewelled medieval chalice.

According to two medieval documents written in Arabic, it was stolen from Jerusalem by Muslims, who gave it to the Christian community in Egypt.

Centuries later, in around 1050 AD, it was sent as a gift to King Fernando I of Castile to thank him for sending aid during a famine, they say.

By that point, it had been concealed with opulent decorations.

Gold inside, with patterns etched around the edges, the revered ornament is covered with pearls, emeralds, amethysts and sapphires, which the Egyptian kings will have designed to honour the well-liked Fernando.

It is said that those who drink from the Grail can attain eternal life, a legend depicted in various stories and perhaps most popularly by Indiana Jones. But many believe these to be fables created over the years to advance Christianity, namely during the Christian crusades.

Whether the mythical vessel for Christ’s blood has actually been found, or that it holds special powers such as those used to sustain Joseph’s life during his imprisonment, is left to one’s imagination.

But that a hunt for the treasure is still being actively pursued after twenty centuries is, at the very least, intriguing.

There are objects all over the planet that Christ touched and are still laying around that people could be using as everyday items and don’t realize. The Indiana Jones films always bothered me about all the traps that were mostly science fiction. The Holy Grail could be a simple clay cup like the movie or some elegant piece like this above. It doesn’t matter. There are no mystical powers to it unless someone wanted it to be. Even these huge crystals emit certain frequencies and can cause dizziness in their presence. Magical powers are usually ONLY illusion, like a magician’s tricks are. Like the governments of the world with their deception, illusions only fool those that let them.

However, I believe to choose that Jesus was born of a Virgin, lived on this earth for 33 years, died on a cross for my sins, yours and anyone else’s sin and for those who will call upon the name of Jesus and ask for forgiveness of their sins shall be saved. He was buried in a tomb (where they did find the shroud that he was wrapped in when placed in the tomb, but no body was there). He went down into the pit of hell for 3 days and was raised from the dead and now sits on the right hand of God our Father just waiting to be told to come get his children.

For we know not when the second coming of our Lord Jesus will be so you better get your house in order and get ready to meet your maker.

Choose whom you will serve Jesus or Satan? Where will you spend eternity? Heaven or Hell? As for me I choose Jesus and I will live in Heaven. It is your choice.

May God’s spirit chase you down and reveal himself to you.

Jesus had a few too many political followers who liked the idea of the poor getting a little more bread on the table… blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth. Inherit, huh? Less likely a left-leaning politician, and more likely a liberator or insurrectionist. Nazareth was essentially a penal colony or an outcast community. The man’s name was actually along the order of Yeshua and he caused huge problems by telling the sheeple the truth about their captivity (not much has changed today). The priest class highjacked his story after publicly executing him and made him into a deity even though he never claimed it. His “good news” was actually far more compelling than the modern gospel.

        • Just the fact that the cup itself was made of Onyx should disqualify it. Again another very expensive artesian produced item that would have been made for nobility. His cup would have been either wood or unglazed pottery. The Tupperware of the time.

          • I certainly can’t argue with that. Unfortunately, no real historical information about the Grail exists insofar as “official” sources are concerned (e.g. the Bible), thus we’re left to guess how Jesus acquired the cup to begin with (or fashioned it himself), or what material comprised it.

But, I agree 100% that there is no way it would have jewels or other accessories…

I would like to read the book but I didn’t include a link because it is not yet available at Amazon — perhaps only a Spanish version is out at this time.

I believe the cup I have read about was made of pewter. Then it was enclosed and decorated like the one pictured above. I can’t remember where it is. As others have said, Jesus didn’t own the cup; he just used it.

          • The claim in the article is that it is the cup that touched Jesus’s lips, not that it was Jesus’s personal cup. Though Jesus collected no material riches for himself, doesn’t mean that he did not have access to things through others who knew and respected him as “The Teacher”. Below is the scriptural reference of where the “Holy Grail” would have found its way to be touched by Jesus’s lips. In all likelihood this cup did not personally belong to Jesus, but was simply used by Him at the last supper.

Then came the first day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. And Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat it.” They said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare it?” And He said to them, “When you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house that he enters. “And you shall say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?”’ “And he will show you a large, furnished upper room; prepare it there.” And they left and found everything just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover. Luke 22:7-13

Whether or not the cup in the article is the genuine deal, who know… But, only conjecture assumes the cup was the personal possession of Jesus.

            • An example of those possessing riches that allowed Jesus to use what was their’s:

“When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the entrance of the tomb and went away.” Matthew 27:57-60

I use NASB most often. I like biblehub.com the most for making comparisons between translations.

“…But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.” Matthew 24:13
“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Matthew 24:14 KJV

Out of 21 translations on biblehub, 19 of them use the word “this” in Matthew 24:14 which causes me to believe the word “this” is pretty important and germane to what immediately preceded it in in Matthew chapter 24.

                ciao,

                the Wild Goose

p.s. remember this for your spiritual preps:

“Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.” Ephesians 6:13

            • It doesn’t matter weather it was his or not. It is unlikely he would have had access to or even had known someone who would have such a cup. At that time, metals in general were priceless.
The cup was supposable a cup from a tavern where they ate the last supper. Having a metal or onyx cup in such a place would be akin to going to Dennys and being served with gold and crystal place settings. Just doesn’t happen.

Pewter in General didn’t come into use in the near east until 300 years or so after the death of Jesus. The Romans invasion of Brittan which was right around the time of Jesus’s birth was to get access to the rare but needed Tin. Almost all mined tin went into bronze for weapons. Pewter didn’t come into general use until the 13th century when Iron was the metal of choice for weapons.

              • Based on the scriptural reference: “a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. “, I have to clearly disagree with your comment that Jesus couldn’t have known someone like that who could have possibly owned such a cup: “or even had known someone who would have such a cup”.

As far as what the cup was primarily made of according to the article, “agate and onyx”, and having access to such a cup at the last supper, well, Jesus clearly did know rich people, as indicated by scripture, who could have easily owned nice things. Whether or not they would allow Him to use it at such an occasion, I guess depends on how they viewed Him. Rather than your Denny’s analogy, I’m inclined to believe the last supper was more like a special occasion in a private home where the common, everyday dishes are neglected and the fine china and silverware are pulled out; and not just an outing to someplace like Denny’s.

I’m curious as to how you figure: “The cup was supposable [sic] a cup from a tavern where they ate the last supper.” Where did that piece of information come from?

As far as your exposition on metals, I yield.

Even as late as 1000 years later, Wealthy people ate off of wooden or earthenware plates. Poor people didn’t use cups or utensils besides the knife here and there.
The Chalice probably wasn’t even a cup at all. It was most probably a carafe of some sort with 2 handles. People generally drank out of the same bowl or directly from carafe the wine was in. Cups didn’t generally exist.
People think it was a cup because of a painting made 1520 years after the fact.

But then that’s ‘only/just a theory’ as you ignorant laymen call it. The depth of your scientific ignorance is only surpassed by its breadth. By the way, most illnesses are caused by invading bodies, and that is generally know in the scientific community as ‘germ theory’. Don’t believe in theories and the people who work on them daily, then just ignore them use your ‘holy book’ for guidance. With that attitude, you won’t need seatbelts because, after all, gravity is ‘just a theory’. And you won’t need to see the doctor next time you’re ill, because, after all, ‘germs are just a theory’. Just use your book for protection and you should be just fine. And if not, you get to go to heaven, so what’s your worry?

The Catholic Church has a long history involving antiquities fraud. It shouldn’t be a surprise since they preach a false gospel. We’re saved by faith alone in Christ alone guided by the Bible alone. Not by infant baptism and obedience to man-made rules. Mary wasn’t the mother of God. She was the mother of Jesus’ earthly body. Mary is a false god in the Catholic church but the real Mary would be horrified by it.

There’s no way that Jesus owned or drank from a goblet that was that expensive. If he had it would have had to be sold anonymously so no one turned it into an idol.

Not sure what Bible you’ve been reading, but we are saved by Grace alone, not faith alone.
In fact, the Bible specifically states that we are NOT saved by “faith alone”. James 2:24

If we are guided by “the Bible alone”, is guess everyone was screwed for about the first 400 years AD. And most everyone else was screwed for another thousand years until the Bible was printed and available to the public. The Bible says that the untaught will twist parts to their own destruction. 2 Peter 3:16

The Catholic Church does not claim that we are saved by infant baptism, it is the means by which the stain of Original Sin is washed away and the symbolic entry into the community of believers. Did Jesus not say “suffer the children to come unto me”? Matthew 19:14, Luke 18:16

Mary is the mother of Jesus. Jesus is fully God and fully man simultaneously and inseparably. The Catholic Church teaches Mary as mother of God to accentuate this. Mary is not the mother of the Father nor the Holy Spirit, but she is the mother of the God-man Jesus, and therefore the Mother of God.

The Catholic Church does not teach that Mary is a god, and so she cannot be a “false god”.

You may believe whatever you wish, but it is ignorant and uncharitable to mischaracterize the faith of others.

Barncat, I’m an old Southern Baptist and I was always told, “beware of the Catholics”. Catholicism IS a false religion and their doctrine is full of things that are not biblical at all. I’ve always had reservations about Catholic doctrine and clergy, but NOT about the average person in the catholic church who attends mass on any kind of basis. I realize they’ve been misled. The Catholic Church has been in bed with every tyrant in countries where they dominate since the beginning. Every tyrant in Europe going back to when the church was first formed came from a CATHOLIC FAMILY. Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Fransisco Franco, etc. came from Catholic families. Fidel and Raul Castro came from a Catholic family. Right after WW2, the VATICAN helped tens of thousands of Nazi war criminals to escape from Europe to South America. That made the US government’s Operation Paperclip look like child’s play. Yes, I believe the Catholics are as bogus as the day is long. After all, why was it called the ROMAN Catholic Church and why was their worldwide headquarters, the Vatican, located in ROME? Maybe the spiritual version of the Roman Empire?

Given all the hype and veneration of that goblet and its supposed miraculous properties attributed it, could it be that the actual goblet used by Jesus and given to his disciples to drink from at the Last Supper was NEVER meant to be found? And for good reason; that goblet would be worshipped as an idol, MORE than Jesus, who held it.
It really does not matter. Those who believe in Jesus don’t need relics. Those who refuse to believe in Jesus will always remain unconvinced, regardless of what is presented before them.

I guess you also think a large number of figures from history are also myths, because there is less evidence of their existence than of Jesus’ existence.

Archeology continues to provide more proofs of the Bible’s historical accuracy, and has not disproved any of it. At least in the King James version, there are supposed mistakes or contradictions, that are easily resolved. I have found only one real mistake, and it’s a copyist error in I or II Chronicles dealing with the ages of a man and his son. And my personal large-print copy has a typesetting error that I’ve marked with a Post-it note.

Read the entire Bible. Go online and find a chronological arrangement of the Bible so you can read it in historical order. The present order was an arrangement by type and size. The major prophets are just larger books than the minor prophets, for example.

Their national test scores rank as some of the worst in the world, often below those of many eastern European and Asian counties. Small wonder that 2/3s of all the science and engineering students in American universities are foreign born. Reading the responses of most of the folks on this site, you can see why. ***OFF TOPIC***

But ties in with what Be Informed has been saying recently:

Russia’s new S-500 system to destroy any target at any altitude

Russia to expand missile attack warning network of next-generation radars
Moscow (Voice of Russia) Mar 30 – Russia is deploying a network of next-generation prefabricated modular radar stations, Aerospace Defense Forces spokesman Col. Alexei Zolotukhin said. This is being done to guarantee the constant monitoring of every missile threat direction. “Four Voronezh-class radar stations have joined the network of the Main Missile Attack Warning Center of the Aerospace Defense Force’s Space Command. The construction of another three Voronezh-class radar stations has begun in a number of Russian regions,” he added.

Russia’s new fifth-generation air defence system S-500 will be able to destroy any target at any altitude, Deputy Defence Minister Yuri Borisov said on Wednesday, March 26.

“Work is underway to create a new fifth-generation air defence system S-500 which can destroy aerodynamic and ballistic targets of all types at all altitudes used in combat,” he said.

Borisov said S-400 systems would continue to be supplied to the Aerospace Defence Troops this year. The system “is about 2-2.5 times better than existing systems in terms of cost efficiency”, he added.

S-400 Triumf air defence systems were put on combat duty in Russia’s Southern Military District at the end of last year to replace S-300PM missiles.

Supplies of new air defence systems to the 4th Air Force and Air Defence Command in the District started in 2009. Since then, more than 60 pieces of new military hardware have been delivered and put into operation.

The Triumf system is more than two times more effective that previous systems. Each system can attack 10 targets with up to 20 missiles.

The S-400 uses 3 different missiles to cover its entire performance envelope.

The Russian Ministry of Defence has stated that the S-400 is for the Russian Armed Forces only; it will not be exported to other countries.

The Russian Defence Ministry and the Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) are also building a new carrier rocket called Angara and have stepped up preparations for its first launch. “We have done a tremendous amount of work to step up preparations for the Angara launch and to catch up with the schedule. And there is no doubt today that Angara will fly in July,” he said.

I just really wish people would pay more attention to what he taught and preached, rather what he touched; it’s a huge difference in consciousness.

After reading the comments of a one Professor Higgins, it is my assumption that his credentials were obtained from some dumbed down public institution of lesser quality.

However, as many comments here are directed to the Catholic Church I would ask all to listen to the “1999 Eucharistic Miracle in Argentina” on Utube.

A host, that was dropped on the ground during communion was retrieved by the priest, placed in the tabernacle and later found to have “red” stain’s resembling blood or blood vessels. Argentinian experts were summoned and they in turn sent the host to experts in both the USA and in Europe. Some of the top Cardiologists and forensic scientists in the world both in America and Europe, studied this host and there conclusions were: It was the blood of a man approximately 33 years old, it was a part of the muscle of a man’s heart, and it was “beating” like a live heart under scientific observation, absolutely unexplained by science. Not only did the samples beat, but they were compared to two other Eucharistic miracles that happened centuries previous and of which remnants are keep in Italy. Without the scientists knowing the connection or origination of the Argentinian host and the blood samples from several centuries past, they stated that all three were from the “same man, approximately 33 years old and type AB blood” You have to listen to this.

But this is one of thousands of examples that I can give that prove the existence of heavenly miracles unexplained by science but admitted by the most erudite, learned and professional scientists in the world.

The Shroud of Turin is also an example, when you listen or read the testimony and results of all the scientific studies concerning its authenticity, that people like this Prof. Higgins, are nothing but the bottom of trash, some call professional or scientists.
