As our family prepared a Labor Day feast today, I happened across my wife Tess sitting in front of her computer… She had tears in her eyes… I asked her what was wrong… She pointed me to the following video…

It’s one we wanted to share with our readers, especially today, as many of us gather with those we love.

Despite the stresses we face in our day-to-day lives, just remember… Life only goes around once… but never again.

Make memories. Live to the fullest.

    Watch. Enjoy. Share.

We hope it touches your hearts like it did ours.

      I hope only once

      • Be informed says:

I think a lot of us are sensing some sort of pinnacle or finale to everything that is going on. Call it a junction point of humanity. I have noticed some activity in the New Madrid area and a 4.2 out in Texas. The Indian Ridge just had some earthquakes which I have to plug in later and see what they mean for major earthquakes in the future. I agree with Paranoid, only once is more than enough here.

        • A pearl of great price. What would a man give his life for, but her children?

We as humans can be so stupid.

            • KY Mom says:

              (Received this in an email)

              Thought for the Day

No one can go back and make a brand new start.
Anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.

God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain,
but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

Disappointments are like road bumps, they slow you down a bit but you enjoy the smooth road afterwards.
Don’t stay on the bumps too long. Move on!

When something happens to you, good or bad, consider what it means.
There’s a purpose to life’s events, to teach you how to laugh more or not to cry too hard.

You can’t make someone love you, all you can do is be someone who can be loved,
the rest is up to the person to realize your worth.

It’s better to lose your pride to the one you love,
than to lose the one you love because of pride.

We spend too much time looking for the right person to love or finding fault with those we already love, when instead we should be
              perfecting the love we give.

Remember five simple rules to be happy:
              1. Free your heart from hatred.
              2. Free your mind from worries.
              3. Live simply.
              4. Give more.
              5. Expect less.

May God Bless you and have a great day!

(Prayer is one of the best free gifts we receive.
There is no cost but a lot of rewards.)

            • smokey says:

That’s silly. Everyone knows all the Syrian Walmarts are really Targets.

        • oUCH says:

There’s been a very odd “ring” of quakes in Chihuahua State, Mexico.. some not too small either.. been going on for about a week..perhaps a bit more.. do you have any insight regarding it ?

          • Be informed says:

@ oUCH. The area you are talking about is within this arc that evidently is still active from the South Samdwich Islands of July 15. I don’t know if you remember but I mentioned that west Texas was in this arc, today a 4.2 occurred. No big deal, but it does show it is following this line still. Normally the activity from the South Sandwich Islands dies down after 6 weeks, and why I gave August 26 as the last day likely day. However this one was larger than most at 7.3, which could be why the activity is still going on. The Aluetian Islands 7.0 was a result of the plate acitivity from this 7.3 quake. The Aleutian Islands was directly in this arc. This area in Mexico is capable of a high 6, maybe low 7.

        • John W. says:

Would you knock off the earthquake garbage. There are a thousand quakes or more everyday. You warnings are so vague that they are meaningless. The rest of your stuff is quite good however.

          • Be informed says:

@ John W. I have been looking back, and the earthquake prediction are better than anything on the world wide web from anyone. On comment # 2098195 I said far western Alaska, boom Aleutian Islands 7.0, then I said southern Indonesia, 6.5 there the next day. How many people are able to forecast major earthquakes within a 15 day window? This is not the first time either, the system works. The problem is that getting these target areas down to the actual area to get hit.

I calculated the chances of hitting a major earthquake during a 15 day window and that is about 15 to 1. Then naming a target area out of 7-10 choosen and that odds are about 20 to 1. About 300 to 1 for anyone to choose an area for a major quake to strike within a 15 day window. To get it twice the odds are about 900 to 1. This is from the number of major quakes on an average within a 40 year period, and the number of probable zones that are active. In other words this is not pure blind chance. I have to try to disprove this myself as a scientific proof. I doubt much myself. Time and time again this has worked and I cannot doubt it any longer. Not perfect, but way beyond dumb luck.

Look at the Drake Passage for increased California quake acitivity, you still live around San Diego? Whenever this region gets active so does California. Also just southwest of Tasmania, and along the Bering Strait where the Asian and Pacific boundary is.

Please remember this John W. I ONLY like to predict major earthquakes that kill and damage much, 6.5 or larger. There have ONLY been 26 earthquakes, not counting aftershocks of 6.5 or larger, since the start of the year. You will find from past posts most of these have been predicted, with the correct location. Before this in 2012 when I started this new system around may there have been 19 earthquakes of 6.5 or larger, again most of these were forecasted, but not so much with the location. That is ONLY 45 earthquakes, not thousands, most of these predicted correctly as recorded on this site before they happened.

My goal is to one day, if the world doesn’t get blasted into the stratosphere, is to more pinpoint killer earthquakes to warn people and save their lives. Now I wouldn’t call that garbage would you?

          • Be informed says:

@ John W. You seem to forget about the 6.3, not quite 6.5, that hit on Dec.14, 2012 off the coast of California, off of San Diego. On comment #939907, on Dec.14, 2012 at 1:21 AM on the Speculations Abounds article about North Korea I said that California was in the crosshairs of a big earthquake because of past plate activity that was aiming in this direction. Several hours later you had a 6.3. Again not a 6.5 major quake, but quite close. What was the odds of forecasting this one? Even JustOneGuy acknowledged after this that was a good call. This system works, not flawlessly but quite well. Again, this is not garbage, way beyond dumb luck.

          • Be informed says:

@ John W. Let’s now instead of taking up this thread with earthquakes, discuss the article. Have you personally every had a family member like this show their devotion towards someone?

          • braveheart says:

John W., the info BI provides on earthquakes is a very valuable service he provides to us and it’s not garbage, either!

      • Gods Creation says:

Unfortunately, if I lived all the good times of the 12 years I have been with my wife, It would only take a week. I would trade them all for a ticket out.

Hopefully, others have fared better like Fred.

        • Swinging on a star says:

It’s all about choices and how you look at life, hell, I have a good time just waking up in the morning and looking outside.

Since this is such a sweet story, I want to share a kind of sweet and funny story. About two weeks ago, my wife noticed a gray cat on our property, she tried her best to have the cat come to her but to no avail. That night, she put some cat food on the porch and a bowl of water, just in case the cat would come by again. In the morning, the cat food was completely gone and my wife stated that we now had a barn cat! She kept putting out food at night and sure enough, every morning that bowl was empty. We were never able to catch the cat eating because it wouldn’t show up till the middle of the night. Finally, the other night, we had the windows open and sure enough we heard munching on the porch, we peaked through the window to get a look at the cat and behold, we saw this huge skunk, eating away at the cat food. We laughed and my wife said we now have a barn skunk! I looked at her lovingly and thought about how sweet and caring she was. I did however tell her that the skunk feeding must stop, I think she snuck him a bit for a couple of nights after that to wean him off the cat food. Simple story but one I will relive in my heart like so many others.

        • Shootit says:

Sorry to hear that about your relationship.

I try to do at least one thing each day specifically for my wife of 25 years. It could be as simple as loading and starting the dishwasher or running the vacuum to more major things on her/list that becomes my/list like painting the porch yesterday. We need to be each others helper.

I have been reading and enjoying SEDM. It pulls everything together. Thanks for the link.

        • Barn Cat says:

You usually get out what you put in to a relationship. I’m a Christian. My wife is a Christian. Therefore, God is not only my Father, God is also my Father-in-law. So I’m very careful with how I treat His daughter.

Can’t say I’m surprised at how your marriage has gone. After I confronted you about being a tax cheat you acted like a total idiot. I can only imagine how you talk to your wife. Remember this:

(Mat 12:36 NIV) But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.

          • Gods Creation says:

Funny barn cat, everyone was calling you the idiot while my responses were well received and appreciated by those who want to learn more.

            shootit,

My wife is mentally ill, diagnosed by the quacks as bipolar. She wakes up in a bad mood daily, usually yelling before she even gets out of bed and 90% of what else she says is yelled at the top of her lungs and derogatory towards anyone but herself. Nothing is ever her fault, she does everything and nobody else does anything, and nobody loves her if they have any concern for themselves. She has purposely made the hardest times of my life (father and brother dying, and others) 100 times worse than they already were.

She hates me, the kids, and anyone that cares about us. She is a sociopath. I stay because God has entrusted me to protect my children from her and she will not leave. One is a mentally retarded 12 year old, the other is slow and 7 years old.

If I thought she would treat them right, I would leave them with her. But she does nothing but fight them every minute of every day. I hate to imagine what they would grow up like without my calming influence and the love I show them while she is “out”. I only hope it is enough.

Maybe one day she will leave, but a sociopath rarely leaves their victim and I have asked her to repeatedly only to be met with threats of taking the kids and using them against me. So I will suffer on to protect my children until God relieves me of the responsibility.

      Mac,
      Thanks for sharing this.
Hopefully this puts into perspective our priorities to take a little time out from prepping and future casting for some appreciation resets.

    3. California Resident says:

Life itself doesn’t worry me as much as where I’ll spend my eternity – consummate sinner that I am.

      • John W. says:

If there really is a hell then it’s eternity with Hillary Clinton and Janet Napolitano for you.

        • Barn Cat says:

Hell is a real place of eternal suffering.

(Luke 16:19-31 NIV) “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. {20} At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores {21} and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. {22} “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. {23} In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. {24} So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’ {25} “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. {26} And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’ {27} “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father’s house, {28} for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ {29} “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’ {30} “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ {31} “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

      • Barn Cat says:

You can repent of your sins and accept what Jesus did on the cross to pay for those sins. Then accept Jesus Christ as Lord. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done in the past. There is always forgiveness. If you follow God with your whole heart, God will change who you are. After someone is saved they need to pray regularly, read their Bible regularly, go to church regularly, and do their best to live a holy life. I’ll never be perfect while I’m in the flesh but I’ll never be the person I used to be either. God has made a lot of changes in my heart and in my life.

    4. apache54 says:

      • Barn Cat says:

One life is all you get.

(Heb 9:27-28 NIV) Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, {28} so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

    6. Ugly says:

      Thanks Mac and Tess….

As Job asked, ‘If a man dies, will he live again?’

Of course the answer is yes.

My focus is on Jesus. I will prep the best I can.

Someday, the children deaths of warmongers will get their revenge. They will see the smiles of warmongers turn into cowardess cries of forgiveness.

Love does conquer all. We all know how we feel when we know we are liked or loved. It feels good.

Love should be practiced all the time. By love, I mean genouine love as spoken in Romans. A real one where someone is willing to give their life for another.

That is why America stays. The others go.

      Good luck to all.

      • Ugly says:

        When I said,

        ‘The others go’

I was referring to the anti-Americans in America. Not our other folks in other countries. All folks in all countries, I wish them well.

        We are One.

I hope the warmongers ill-will. Its their time to suffer for the suffering they have caused. But mostly, I hope the warmongers change their minds. That they can be rich without doing dirty deeds. That they can prosper with all of us.

        But we will see.

In the meantime, hug your loved ones. Tell others hello.

I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again. braveheart

            BH–

Its really not Dems nor Reps….

it is ‘We The People’. Until ‘We The People’ start to wake up in masses, the others will do as they please–just as they have.

‘We The People’ really are about 80% of America–both Rep and Dems and Ind. But about less than 10% are seeing what is really going on. We need over 50%.

I had hope until 2012 elections. If 2014 goes to the Dems, then we are toasted. No EOs needed because they will vote whatever they want.

If Syria and the collapsing dollar does not wake us up–then what will?

Anyway, still great to live in the USA. As the Bible says, we need to pray for our leaders. We really do.

            Good luck on your preparedness….

have you ever heard the phrase 3%? visited the 3%er website?

even in the revolutionary and civil wars, only about 3% actually participated, another 20 to 25% supported logistically for one side or the other, and the remaining 50% majority kept out of it so they could kiss up to the victor.

the historical threshold is more like 20 to 25%, not 50+%.

honestly, 10% is plenty, because 80% of our 10% owns guns and is pissed off. and a good 50% of that 80% are military veterans. say our 10% is 30M people. so 24M are pissed off gun owners and 12M are veteran pissed off gun owners. 12M military trained and armed pissed off americans. enough to take on any army.

i’m seriously apologizing for pissing on your post, but i can offer citations for most of my figures if needed.

However, we need as many Americans voting as possible in 2014. Hopefully we vote for change and not status quo.

She was killed by a POS from Haiti driving too fast and drunk on a side street while she crossed that same street from the hospital to the employee parking lot after finishing her shift. Life was never the same again for me and I never found anyone else worth having for a 2nd mrs braveheart. It’s a good thing we didn’t have kids in a way. it would have been so tough on them growing up without a mother and me trying to be 2 parents in one. I only have myself to provide for and I avoid using credit altogether so it’s less difficult than it would’ve been otherwise. over the years I’ve had more bitches in my life than I want to remember; haven’t even dated in 5 years and not looking. All I care about these days is prep to the best of my ability for what is coming to this nation and to do my part to save this country from the NWO. The only hope America has is returning to her original founding principles; return to God and turn it back into the kind of country He inteneded for us to have. I may not live to see it happen, but I’ll die trying to make it happen. That is something worth fighting and dying for. i’ll die standing up fighting, not on my knees with my hands bound behind me waiting on some NWO thug to put 2 bullets into my head. they won’t take me alive. Braveheart, I’m so very sorry for your loss. My wife of 16 years is a cardiac RN. We grew up down rhe street from one another. I had my eye on her when she was 5ish, & watched her grow up always thinking how cute & sweet she was. We became best friends, I should’ve kept the dating stories to myself! I conned her into “hanging out”, I was hooked. We decided not to have any children. We’re still together and trying to prep as best we can. It’s like you said, if I lost her, my world will have ended. There’s no one else for me but her. Basically, what I’m trying to say is, I feel for you brother. If I could take a small bit of my happiness, I would give it to you. I really wish you all the best. I hope this reminds you of a happy moment in time with her. Take care my friend. Matt

Offthegrid, the ONLY women I call bitches are the ones I’ve been hurt by plus other women who have committed acts of injustice against men and does happen in courts all over this country every day. I understand there are still good women out there who reject feminism. I just wish I could locate them. It just grieves me to see what feminism has done to the minds of American women and it has NOT been a good influence. before feminism, there were fewer problems between men and women and those problems were easier to solve. nowadays it seems to take an act of congress just to get a dispute between a man and woman settled peacefully. Plus, the courts do show favoritism toward women in certain types of cases and that is wrong. what happened to the concept of equality under the law? why are feminists opposed to that concept? Say what you will. I stand by my previous remarks and I’ve given up on American women thanks to feminism. I’m not the only man who has.

    13. DirtyGreek says:

75 Years ago, most folks understood the importance of family in North America. Today, here i am 37 years old and single,I blame it on today’s attitude towards marriage. Today we have credit, credit cards, cheap food footsteps away(7-11,Walmart),a police state to keep everyone in line(false sense of security),extreme feminism and a justice system geared to give women the upper hand(criminal, divorce and custody courts).
In today’s world, nobody needs anybody and thats what TPTB want! You need money, you go see a bank, you need help with something, you pay for the service and dont look for help amongst your family.
So with all this being said, does a woman really need me? Or any man for that matter. Do we think twice and try to work things out or just get a divorce because its easier?
Im BEGGING for a SHTF scenario, just to wake up a lot of women i know. Most women i know and have dated,do not value 75 years of marriage. They value their TV,latest fashion and what the movie stars are up to. When your focus is not family or unity, but selfishness and knowing you have the upper hand and are willing to exercise your right,as a woman to destroy a man by child support and alomony, yup,im getting comfortable being single.
FYI,to all women reading this, this is not a personal attack on anyone here or gender. Im just sharing my personal life experiences with regards to the topic,75 years of marriage and the way THINGS SHOULD BE. A gooood month long power outage,so theres no TV,make up,razor blades, warm food, water, guns, ammo and im 100% sure guys like me will once again be ‘a good catch’. The guys that will be looking in dumpsters for food and shanking anyone possessing anything edible are the winners of today.I envy them, living life like its going to be forever peachy, driving their equity, debt to the ears BUT wearing the latest fashions…yup! When the tables turn, ill be smiling :)

      • braveheart says:

DirtyGreek, I share your sentiments. As I stated in my earlier post, I’ve had more bitches in my life than I want to think about. I’ve f#$%ed the brains out of each and every one of them and it didn’t do any good whatsoever. Feminism has totally ruined American women since the 70s. on the justice system, it’s geared to show favoritism to women AND minority groups. the white male doesn’t stand a chance with today’s communist judges. I’ve been a prepper since the 70s. I’ve been through power outages, tornados, hurricanes, even burned out of a mobile home once and I came out smelling like a rose each and every time. When TSHTF, I’ll be sitting back surviving just fine with my preps while all the morons who wouldn’t listen to us and refuse to do anything for themselves will become dumpster divers and so forth trying to survive. it will be interesting to see how women react in the initial phase of post-SHTF.

        • sixpack says:

          Some will fail almost immediately.

Some will find someone to cling to to survive.

Some will claw their way through it, any way they can.

Some will take the bull by the horns and look for 8.

That’s how you separate the girls from the women.

        • Dr of Nothing says:

I take it that woman are subserviant and more or less bitches in you world , correct BH ? Im not a liberal, and not a fan of feminism however it seems as if you put ALL women in a box and they are all to be screwed hard and hung up wet and refered to as bitch before during and after your done. My answere is……..Go get laid, it may calm you down . Who knows it might even develop in to somthing special. It seems as if when your pissed off about world politics you usually find a way to blame it on the opposite sex. Use your computer to find your love intrests . You would be surprised of what a HOT shower, deoderant,a change of drawers and a splash of old spice can get you these days BH. Goodluck my friend.

          • braveheart says:

Dr. of Nothing, you taking some of my comments out of context. First, I do realize that not all women have fallen under the influence of feminism. My late wife saw feminism for what it really is and avoided it. No, I did not stereotype women in my remarks. Second, what I said about what feminism has done to the minds of American women and the fact that the courts show favoritism to women and minority groups are facts. Go ask any man who has lost a divorce case, child custody case, or even a domestic violence case what he suffered at the hands of communist and feminist judges, especially if he is a white male. White males do not stand a chance at the hands of these evil judges. Third, I don’t blame our nation’s problems on just feminist-minded women; there are plenty of liberal-minded men responsible also. Fourth, I DO take a hot shower, put on deodorant, shave, and put on clean drawers every morning when I first get up. those are things I never neglect, @hole. Fifth, I don’t care too much about getting laid these days. I’m more selective than ever about who to even talk to, let alone anything else. I know how to get on with life whether I get any or not. What about YOU?

          • maddog says:

The problem men are having finding a woman they can have a life with is a result of the hippie generations destruction of the family and its almost complete with the advance of gay marriage. I have also heard many women say they can’t find a good man, its said they are wussies. Again another result of the hippie gens efforts by sissifying all boys at a young age. The shitbag hippies have done this thoughout our society for the last 40 yrs. Look what it has come to in California, all grade school kids can use whatever bathroom they feel what gender they are that day. Boys and girls using the bathroom, locker room ect. How do you think this will work out? The fucking hippies have to go, and there “progressive” ideas reversed completely. Do not be hood winked, the hippies are commies and have been doing this to gain there collective utopia.

            • Barn Cat says:

There are a lot of good women out there. Certainly a lot more good women than good men. A lot of men are selfish. They don’t know how to love. Most of the places I’ve worked have more women than men. The loneliest people out there are some married women. Their husbands have long ago forgotten that they loved them if they ever did in the first place. One of the women I worked with that a had a crush on me started when she made a mistake in her work and I didn’t get mad at her or put her down in any way or act like she was stupid. It’s pretty sad when you think about it.

Loathe both, and as such refuse to get drawn into any “battle of the sexes”. It’s yet another version of “divide and conquer”.

I would have given my marriage the 75 years, except that my husband always put his needs before our children. I tried for 15 years, to get him to get a job, hold a job, go to your job consistently, etc. I tried for those 15 years to stay in a miserable situation for the sake of my children. After those 15 years, I couldn’t waste another moment being unhappy, broke, wondering how I’m going to feed and clothe my children. I left my husband with everything, but the children and their clothes. I gave him the house the cars EVERYTHING. Now I am debt free, the children are happy and healthy and we didn’t depend on anyone but ourselves to get us where we are today. God bless those that have made better choices in their mate, but understand that saying women are bitches due to feminism is the same as me saying all men are pigs.

Like I promised, here are the danger areas for the past two sequences of earthquakes today and yesterday. Kuril Islands are really there, Japan, New Guniea, and southern Peru/Northern Argentina region. Until at least Sept. 17.

One of the biggest problems with relationships is that one of more of the people does not express the way they feel about the person. People go through life without knowing just how much someone means to someone, they just assume it. I think one of the top 5 reasons that relationships come apart is that one or both of the people don’t feel appreciated. A nice song, poem, written note, or just having a truthful conversation can make all the difference between bliss and disaster.

Talking about disaster this also goes all too true with whom you trust in a survival group. Never assume that a person will be loyal to you until you really know the person. Often your best “buddy” can turn on you because you dind’t get to really know the person. Two friends can spend many good times together, but are never tested by circumstances to see if that best friend will stick by you when you need them. The worst time to find out that your friend is fair weather is after SHTF. It is not being pushy or overbearing to get to know that person that will be sharing your lifeline. Relationships are very complex and openness and honesty are the best ways to avoid problems with those you should not be around, and solidify those in your life that bring you should and bring you the positive things in life.

My husband has been in two explosions: one on board ship in the navy and the second while working at a navy ship yard. For years he has had fragments of metal surface on his body from each one. He lost hearing in one ear from a ball entering his ear.
He has had a section of both lungs removed from fungus and what they thought was cancer. That turned out not to be true. AFTERWARDS!
We treasure every day we are together.
I do declare he must have a cats luck.
He works hard every day in the custom cabinet shop we own even with two partial lungs.

God has blessed us. I give Him all praise and glory

    38. The thing about love is it is universal. You could be living in a reefer box or in a castle and still have love.

What we need is more empathy. It may sound a little sappy, but to care about other humans doesn’t make you a weaker person. It makes you stronger.

It is refreshing to read the majority of comments on this post. It restores some of my faith in others. Nice to let the animosity go for a while (I’m guilty of plenty of that).

It is sad to hear the ones in “charge” constantly worrying about “losing face” with the current Syrian debacle. Perhaps they need to reflect on others as human beings that love, laugh, live and die and not pawns in their games of world “swingin dick” politics.

Somehow the word “fireball” entering his ear got lost.
God forbid a ball enters anyone’s ear.

My first wife was my first love. We were married for ten years. She was the sweetest person I ever knew up to that time. We were very close. She died from complications from kidney disease when she was 30. I’ve been remarried for 19 years. My second wife and I are very close. We’re still in love. I still miss my first wife. I still dream about her. I’ll dream she’s alive and I’m absolutely thrilled. I’ll hug her and tell her, “I’ve missed you so much.” We’re both Born Again Christians. I know she’s in heaven waiting for me along with our two still-born children. But we’ll never be husband and wife again.

      Grandpa’s Hands
      by Melinda Clements

Grandpa, some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the patio bench. He didn’t move, just sat with his head down staring at his hands.

When I sat down beside him he didn’t acknowledge my presence and the longer I sat I wondered if he was OK.

Finally, not really wanting to disturb him but wanting to check on him at the same time, I asked him if he was OK.

He raised his head and looked at me and smiled. “Yes, I’m fine, thank you for asking,” he said in a clear strong voice.

“I didn’t mean to disturb you, Grandpa, but you were just sitting here staring at your hands and I wanted to make sure you were OK,” I explained to him.

“Have you ever looked at your hands,” he asked. “I mean really looked at your hands?”

I slowly opened my hands and stared down at them. I turned them over, palms up and then palms down. No, I guess I had never really looked at my hands as I tried to figure out the point he was making. Grandpa smiled and related this story:

“Stop and think for a moment about the hands you have, how they have served you well throughout your years. These hands, though wrinkled, shriveled and weak have been the tools I have used all my life to reach out and grab and embrace life.

“They braced and caught my fall when as a toddler I crashed upon the floor.

“They put food in my mouth and clothes on my back.

“As a child my Mother taught me to fold them in prayer.

“They tied my shoes and pulled on my boots.

“They held my rifle and wiped my tears when I went off to war.

“They have been dirty, scraped and raw, swollen and bent.

“They were uneasy and clumsy when I tried to hold my newborn son.

“Decorated with my wedding band they showed the world that I was married and loved someone special.

“They wrote the letters home and trembled and shook when I buried my Parents and Spouse and walked my Daughter down the aisle.

“Yet, they were strong and sure when I dug my buddy out of a foxhole and lifted a plow off of my best friend’s foot.

“They have held children, consoled neighbors, and shook in fists of anger when I didn’t understand.

“They have covered my face, combed my hair, and washed and cleansed the rest of my body.

“They have been sticky and wet, bent and broken, dried and raw.

“And to this day when not much of anything else of me works real well these hands hold me up, lay me down, and again continue to fold in prayer.

“These hands are the mark of where I’ve been and the ruggedness of my life.

“But more importantly it will be these hands that God will reach out and take when he leads me home.

“And with my hands He will lift me to His side and there I will use these hands to touch his face.”

I will never look at my hands the same again. But I remember God reached out and took my Grandpa’s hands and led him home.

When my hands are hurt or sore or when I stroke the face of my children and wife I think of Grandpa. I know he has been stroked and caressed and held by the hands of God. I, too, want to touch the face of God and feel His hands upon my face.

Really nice to get something so beautiful posted in these troubled times. And to see a marriage which lasted and a love that grew over all those years. Of course now days so easy to get divorced and the sanctitiy of being married means nothing, so sad. 26 years for me so far and it has been a series of mountain tops and valleys. We work through it because it is worth it. God bless ya’ll and have a great day.

44 years with my soulmate and I know love and laughter every day. Steve is a poet and what he writes for me sometimes leaves me bawling for days. It is also there in the touch of his hand as we drift off to sleep. It is alsw with us as we ride the dirt roads, wondering where the trails lead. We share the beauty that takes our breath away. With our babies, we shared the awesome gift of new life. That wonder, love, and fear, was renewed with the Grandbabies. Does anyone ever believe their child is capable of caring for an infant?

Together we learned to let our children make their mistakes and to love when the teenager shouted, “I hate you!”

I am a woman, he is a man. I probably will never know how he shielded me from the monsters that seem to abound in this world. Some of the arguments, with shouting and slamming, and long walks to cool off, were spectacles, I’m sure. But we always ended up talking it thru and spent the night together.

The tenderness, the passion, the joy in eachother, has always been worth the effort to get there.

I wish we could live the good times, again and again.

      Thanks, Mac.

    47. Prepped in CT says:

My mother and father had the strongest love I have ever seen in my life. I refer to it as the kind of love you only see once in a lifetime. I never saw a couple like them while they were alive, and I haven’t seen it again since they passed.

They eloped when they were 16. They started out living with my dad’s parents, where he was the oldest son working on their farm. They were married in 1939, by the time WW2 rolled around, they were still living with my grandparents and had two small children. My dad fought in WW2, came home, and he and my mother moved into their own house on their own property (dad bought it from grandpa).

WW2 was the only time they were separated. There wasn’t one day that all of their kids didn’t feel the love they had for each other, and the love they had for us. I got married in 1980 and moved to CT, and I can’t tell you how many times I would go to visit during the summer and cry for hours after I left, because I didn’t want to leave them.

Mom died first, on their wedding anniversary. They had been married over 65 years. My Dad was never the same after she died. About six months after she died, he perked up a little, started to smile again. He died shortly after, and I think the only reason he started to get happy again was because somehow he knew he was going to be with her again.

I still miss them every day.

sounds to me like Mac reached middle age ? getting philosophical instead of reactionary.

Reached that point myself recently. If anyone else has, i’d suggest reading the 1st three chapters of enjoy the decline.

it basically puts out that the USA is screwed because of its debts and entitlements and anyone 30 or older is likely to see their quality of life decline substanially over their life as the US declines. it suggest becoming a minimalist, enjoying what makes you happy and keeping the govt out of your pocket as much as possible and quit trying to save the country because it cannot be saved.

Slowly we found Jesus. Took many years of seeking God every day, first separately and now together. My husband is now my soulmate and the Love of my Life. I don’t want anything to end because we are both finally having a good time.

Been married to the same girl for 40 years. wouldn’t take anything for her. We have lost two of our children. That’s the very worst thing that can happen is to outlive your child. Losing a job having a home burn and any other misfortune pales in comparison. and we still find good things to be happy about Ive come to the conclusion that you have problems to make you grow & learn. Just think if everything always went your way and life was always hunky dory that would be no good .My wifes health isn’t so good (poor genetics). Chances are pretty high ill outlive her. If so ill never marry again. My preps are for the grandchildren. I believe the theory of reincarnation does have merit. I know Karma and the Law of cause & effect is fact.

August 19th would have been my middle son’s 12th birthday. I still miss him everyday. November 8th will the first anniversary of his passing. The song “Home Free” by Wayne Watson was played at his funeral. I’ve put the lyrics below.

      Home Free by Wayne Watson

I’m trying hard not to think you unkind,
but Heavenly Father, if you know my heart,
surely you can read my mind.

Good people underneath the sea of grief,
some get up and walk away.
      Some will find ultimate relief.

      Home free, eventually
      At the ultimate healing
      We will be home free
Home free, oh I’ve got a feelin’
      At the Ultimate Healing
      We’re gonna be home free

Out in the corridors they pray for a life.
A mother for her baby, a husband for his wife
Oh sometimes the good die young it’s sad, but true
And while we pray for one more heartbeat,
the real comfort is with You

      Home Free, eventually
      At the Ultimate Healing
      We’re gonna be home free
Home free, oh I’ve got a feelin’
      At the Ultimate Healing
      We’re gonna be home free

You know pain has little mercy, and suffering’s no respector of age, race or position.
I know every prayer gets answered,
but the hardest one to pray is slow to come,
Oh Lord, not my, but your will be done

      Home Free, eventually
At the ultimate healing, we’re gonna be home free
Home Free, oh I’ve got a feelin’
      At the Ultimate Healing
      We’re gonna be home free

You may be able to google this song to listen to it. It really is beautiful and was and still is a great source of comfort to me.
      Peace,
      Central TX Mom

We’ve been married for 33 years and are more in love each day. Although not perfect, Christian homes tend to be the happiest and most stable of all. We are devoted to each other and I can not think of another person I would choose to stand besides me in a crisis than my sweetheart. (With a Glock 19 in one hand and a Bible in the other)

Christ has been preparing this world for His return for 2,000 years. My DW and I believe that we are close to major event which will open the door for this. Or to put it another way, “God is about to open a can of whoop-ass on this earth”.

I have tried twice to post to this and both times it got lost.
One of the times a message from “Do Not Call” covered the whole screen saying there is a scam going on saying it is them and not to respond. Then it offered a place to register you phones. My landline and cellphones are already registered.
When I tried to clear it from the screen I lost my second post because I had to close the SHTF site to get rid of it.
      Might loose this one too.

Eisen, why would you post such outrageous remarks that have nothing to do with the topic? You are truly a moron. you make me sick. braveheart

    62. Buckeye says:

Eisen.. I have to agree with you on this one(not your last few sentences). As a previous obstetrics nurse I make witnessed numerous circumcisions. To sell this women are made to believe that it is totally painless. The reason your day old baby is screaming is because he doesn’t like being strapped down, that is what mothers are told, completely false. He is screaming because a part of his body(the most sensitive part) has just been cut off with no anesthesia. This practice is hideous and unneeded and makes my blood boil. It would stop if the mother was made to watch this act of mutilation. I have 4 boys all are not circumcised and they are not made fun of either. They are 100ercent proud of their full and complete male parts. It’s interesting as toddlers the part they played with the most was the foreskin..FYI

    63. braveheart says:

If the article had been the topic he brought up, it would be different and I wouldn’t have responded. however, the article was about something totally different and eisen’s comments sounded inappropriate for this particular article. This article had nothing to do with circumcision. I can also agree circumcision should be banned; this was just the wrong forum for his comments.

    64. PenCRNA says:

As a CRNA, I can tell you that an infants pain response system is not completely developed, and the part of the brain that stimulates the release of endorphins (natural pain killer) does not function as in a adult. So it hurts even more. Some hospitals do use local anesthetic, however it varies. Was the worst experience in all of my nursing rotations 20+ years ago.
