The United States Army and National Guard are recruiting for Internment/Resettlement Specialists, according the the Official Army website and Monster.com .

Internment/Resettlement (I/R) Specialists in the Army are primarily responsible for day-to-day operations in a military confinement/correctional facility or detention/internment facility. I/R Specialists provide rehabilitative, health, welfare, and security to U.S. military prisoners within a confinement or correctional facility; conduct inspections; prepare written reports; and coordinate activities of prisoners/internees and staff personnel.

Some of your duties as an Internment/Resettlement Specialist may include:

-Assist with the supervision and management of confinement and detention operations

-Provide external security to confinement/corrections facilities or detention/internment facilities

-Provide counseling and guidance to individual prisoners within a rehabilitative program

-Prepare or review reports and records of prisoners/internees and programs

It seems that the US Government is preparing for a high volume of military prisoners. I suspect these will not be foreign nationals, as we either kill them or detain them outside of the USA. So, one must conclude that these corrections, interment and resettlement specialists will be supervising US citizens. The military is calling them internment camps or resettlement camps. Back in World War II they were called by a different name. Of course, we could be wrong and totally blowing this out of proportion. Comments are welcomed.

    Hmmm…that is interesting indeed.

Only one thing comes to mind:  Remember those rumors (or facts?) that were floating around late last year and early this year that portions of the U.S. military were training for “civil unrest” situations…

I agree that reports like the one you noted, along with the rumors I mentioned, should not be blown out of proportion…

One “good” (I guess) explanation could be that with the the federal government is preparing for the possibility that they will need to step in to help states (i.e., with budget crises) run correctional facilities, jails, prisons, etc. because of budgets cuts.

Even assuming that is true, it opens a fresh can of worms – last time I checked, Uncle Sam is broke too…Does the (cough) budget cover this?

…and if it does, that would immediately take be back to the original question:  What’s this all about…?

Comments on a variety of other blogs suggest it is being blow out of proportion. Also, some say it is more for international detention camps than here in the US.

But, it is 100% true that the military is training for civil unrest domestically. If people are arrested en masse, I suppose they will need larger prisons or temporary holding facilities. Of course, it is my understanding that the military can only operate domestically under emergency situations, such as under Martial Law.

If we get to a point where the military is having to arrest people within the borders of the United States, then chances are we have a pretty hard-core SHTF scenario — terrorist attack, biological incident (swine flu?), mass riots, etc.

Whatever the case may be, it will not be pretty and I am staying home.

  3. [...] One can speculate that if Mr. Celente is forecasting it, chances are the government has considered it as well and already has a response prepared. [...]
