Aftershocks Rattle Southern California After 4.4 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck in southern California on Tuesday night. Shortly after, a 3.4 magnitude aftershock shook the area sparking more talks and fears of “The Big One.”

According to USA Today, the earthquake was centered near the Los Angeles County city of La Verne, about 83 miles northwest of Palm Springs and 25 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Both the original quake and the aftershock were recorded shortly after 7:30 p.m. Pacific Time, and were separated by just under a minute.  Tuesday night’s quake also came just one day after the Coachella Valley near Palm Springs was jolted by a magnitude 3.0 quake north of Indio and east of Desert Hot Springs, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The Associated Press reported that the quake shook buildings in downtown Los Angeles and could be felt 40 miles to the northwest in Sylmar. The quake was also be felt in northern portions of San Diego County, including a location 80 miles away. These earthquakes have renewed discussions and fears of the “Big One” – the inevitable massive earthquake that will completely devastate the west coast.

Starting on June 7th [2016], FEMA [Federal Emergency Management Agency] will be conducting a large scale drill that has been named “Cascadia Rising” that will simulate the effects of a magnitude 9.0 earthquake along the Cascadia Subduction Zone and an accompanying west coast tsunami dozens of feet tall. According to the official flyer for the event, more than “50 counties, plus major cities, tribal nations, state and federal agencies, private sector businesses, and non-governmental organizations across three states – Washington, Oregon, and Idaho – will be participating”.

In addition to “Cascadia Rising”, U.S. Northern Command will be holding five other exercises simultaneously.  According to the final draft of the Cascadia Rising drill plan, those five exercises are entitled “Ardent Sentry 2016″, “Vigilant Guard”, “Special Focus Exercise”, “Turbo Challenge” and “Joint Logistics Over-The-Shore”.  The primary scenario that of all of these participants will be focusing on will be one that involves a magnitude 9.0 earthquake along the Cascadia Subduction Zone followed by a giant tsunami that could displace up to a million people from northern California to southern Canada. –The End of the American Dream

Although there were no reports of damages immediately following the earthquakes and aftershocks, many still pondered the implications of increased seismic activity. The San Andreas Fault in southern California gets far more headlines in the news, however, the Cascadia Subduction Zone is a much larger threat by far.  This fault zone is where the Juan de Fuca plate meets the North American plate, and it stretches approximately 700 miles from northern Vancouver Island all the way down to northern California. A massive earthquake along the Cascadia Subduction Zone would also come with a wall of water in the form of deadly tsunami.

Even though it seems unlikely, those who are prepared for the possibility of the “Big One” will fare much better in the event that it actually occurs.

All goodly folk should leave California. Then hopefully the big one will rid us of millions of godless heathens and scum illegals.

  2. Noguano says:

LA, like Las Vegas and Dallas is on the 33rd parallel. YouTube the 33rd parallel. Very interesting.

  3. FuckTheDems says:

Please God, unleash the BIG ONE!

The US can do without all those left-coast libtard hippies letting in all the illegals.

  5. Anonymous says:

4.4 isn’t all that much of an earthquake.

  6. The Deplorable Renegade says:

Menzo, Cali has it coming for a bunch of reasons. All the good people really need to leave there if possible.

  7. ANGRY FROG says:

Goodbye California you will not be missed.

  8. Blankone says:

Too bad we cant lose the whole west coast, oregon and Washington included to say 150 miles inland…That would solve a lot of our problems…

  9. Deplorable Neal Jensen says:

God doesn’t warn people often……just saying. Leave Sodom and Gomorrah in California, and don’t look back. Weep not for the warned.

  10. Texas Sweet Tea says:

I just was in California for a few days for the first time in 20 years…I have to say it was a shit-show. Homeless people everywhere, camping in tents, sleeping in front of businesses on the sidewalk, living in make shift shelters….Dirty, clogged freeways, terrible road conditions, smog- the list goes on and on. I couldn’t wait to get back home. Why anyone would want to live there is beyond me. I hate the migration of folks cashing out and coming to states like Texas to then continue their crazy ways makes me crazy. It’s like the dog who crapped in their own bed and then moves to new grounds so they can repeat the same bad behavior.

  11. Only just a 4,4 mag? WTF is this good for? Why is it not in the 12 to 15 Mag range? What a sad disapointment this place is still standing there. Along with all the scumz what lives there.

  12. 4.4 is hardly a quake at all.

The earth is always moving, but no one even feels it.

    Anything Below 5.7 is mild.

    5.8 to 6.0 is a significant earthquake.

6.1 to 6.9 is the real deal, causing damage to property.

    Anything above 7 is catastrophic.

8 to 10 are the most destructive and rare.

I lived in California most of my life. The worst quake, the only really damaging quake in the San Francisco Bay Area, comes once every hundred years. Whether wise, you can’t beat California. An earthquake every century is not that big of a deal.

It is overcrowded. And the blacks from the South have moved there and taken over many of the cities. The Mexicans have taken over a lot of the Southern part of the State and there are a significant number living in the North, too. For the most part, Mexicans don’t bother anybody. Blacks, Mexicans, Chinese, whites all live together and also in ethnically homogeneous clusters, co-mingling at times.

I miss the beaches, the beautiful people and beautiful mountains and forests, the temperate climate, the cultural aspects of Cities like San Francisco.

I don’t miss taxes, regulations, exorbitant rents/mortgages, and crime.

  14. Beaumont says:

The late, vulgar, tv chef, Tony Bourdain, once said of one Eastern European s-hole country, that no martial law was formally declared. They just drilled in the commons.

You don’t need the sky to fall, a continental tidal wave of lava and brimstone, before martial law can occur. It’s assumed, wherever there’s an exercise.

  15. aljamo says:

California has always been considered the trendsetter state. Political movements start there and then spread east, like the hippie antiwar movement which alerted the world to the crimes in Vietnam. But keep cheering on the dismantling of people’s rights who challenge government actions.

  16. Bert says:

Come on, that photo you used is NOT from the recent 4.4.

Christ you are worse than the US Govt. Fake news.

  17. Yahooie says:

I was confused about Tuesday being the day of the geological event since it’d Monday now. Then I went to the news story link in the article and find this occurred last August.
