37 Percent Rate Increase In 2018??? Obamacare Is Imploding And It Must Be Repealed Now!

Are you ready to pay 37 percent more for health insurance in 2018?  Obamacare is imploding faster than most of us imagined, and these rate increases are absolutely killing hard working middle class families all across the country.  I wrote about the steady erosion of the middle class yesterday, and health insurance is one of the main reasons why the cost of living is increasing at a much faster rate than our paychecks are.  It greatly frustrates me that we have given the Republicans control of the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives and Obamacare still has not been repealed.  The truth is that should have happened on day one of the Trump presidency.

Monday’s news was dominated by headlines about the indictments of Paul Manafort and Robert Gates, but a new round of Obamacare rate increases is going to have much more of a direct impact on the lives of ordinary Americans.  According to CNN, premiums for silver Obamacare plans will increase by an average of 37 percent next year…

Premiums for the benchmark silver Obamacare plan will soar 37%, on average, for 2018, according to federal data released Monday.

And remember, this 37 percent increase is on top of all of the other yearly increases that we have seen so far.  Many families have already seen their health insurance premiums more than double since Obamacare became law, and now things are going to get even worse.

The silver plans are the most popular, and this is especially true among younger people.  According to that same CNN story, a 27-year-old will now be paying almost five thousand dollars a year for one of these silver plans…

The steep rate hike means a 27-year-old will pay nearly $5,000 a year, on average, for the benchmark silver plan, upon which premium subsides are based. That’s up from $2,600 when the Obamacare exchanges opened in 2014. This is before subsidies are factored in, however.

Premiums are skyrocketing for a second year in a row. Rates rose 24% this year in the states using healthcare.gov.

Do you know any 27-year-old that can afford to pay $5000 a year for health insurance?

    I don’t.

And because deductibles are so high, most of them are quite afraid to go to the hospital anyway.

As Obamacare plan premiums go up, so do the subsidies.  At this point more than 80 percent of all those enrolled in Obamacare plans receive subsidies, and that means that much of the burden for paying these rate increases ultimately falls on the taxpayers.

And by taxpayers, I mean you and me.

Here in Idaho, the rate increases are going to be even higher than the national average.  In fact, it is being reported that silver plan rates will be going up by an average of about 50 percent in 2018…

Idaho Statesman reporter Audrey Dutton reports that the largest increases are proposed in the “silver” plans, which are the most popular ones on the exchange, falling mid-range in pricing and benefits between the lower-level “bronze” plans and the high-end “gold” plans. Silver plans are showing average increases of 50 percent in premiums; they range from a low of 40 percent at Blue Cross to 69 percent at SelectHealth.

Needless to say, Idaho families cannot afford these sorts of rate increases, and I am for a 100 percent repeal of Obamacare immediately.  In my new book entitled “Living A Life That Really Matters”, I touch on some of the things that we need to do to start fixing our deeply broken healthcare system.  We once had the greatest system of healthcare on the entire planet, and I believe that we can get there again, but we desperately need to return to free market principles.  I am very much in favor of the kinds of association buying groups that Rand Paul has proposed, and I would like to see exciting new concepts such as direct primary care implemented much more extensively.

Doing nothing is not an option.  The longer that Obamacare is allowed to exist, the more financial damage it will do to middle class families.

Today, we learned that the U.S. savings rate has fallen to a 10 year low.  Most families cannot save much money because they are just scraping by from month to month.  The middle class is now a minority of the population, and as health insurance rates continue to rise the financial stress on American families is only going to intensify.

We also just learned that real disposable income per capita has been declining since May.  The following comes from Wolf Richter

But consumers don’t feel that. What they feel is their slice of the pie, but that pie got cut into more slices as the US population expanded. And this leaves disposable income “per capita,” which the BEA also discloses, but mercifully buried in the data.

This real disposable income per capita — a function of income, taxes, inflation, and population growth — peaked in May and has been declining ever since.

A 37 percent rate increase is going to be absolutely devastating to those that are on silver plans.  We were promised that Obamacare would make healthcare cheaper and more affordable, but instead the exact opposite has been true.

By the time the 2018 mid-term elections roll around, there are going to be tens of millions of Americans that are deeply angry about health insurance rates, and many believe that they will take that anger out on Democrats and on establishment Republicans that blocked the repeal of Obamacare.

But the Democrats are hoping for a different result.  They are hoping to retake either the House or the Senate in 2018, and if Republicans have not repealed Obamacare by then the Democrats will completely block any further attempts to do so.

The clock is ticking, and the Republicans need to get something done.  Up to this point they have completely fumbled the football, but there is still time to recover if they can get their act together.

I AM SO SICK OF THIS BULL SHIT. DON’T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT, BUT BETWEEN TAXES AND HEALTH INSURANCE I NOW WORK ALMOST 7 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR TO PAY FOR THIS SHIT. MY WIFE AND I ARE HAVING A VERY HARD TIME LIVING ON 5 MONTHS OF INCOME.

I got my ballot sample for Tuesday next week election. There are about 8 slots up for state and local elections. Many candidates openly admit to being Progressives, Globalists, Socialist, Marxist etc, if voters don’t get rid of these anti-American people in state and local government, we’ll never get rid of the cancer eating at our society from DC.

Voting has never been this easy, just look at each candidates web site and see, most proudly admit they are globalists or progressives. Then get out and vote to clean the swamp. If you can remove some of the swamp creatures in your local elections, the bigger fish in DC will notice. If Americans are too lazy to vote, they’ll know they still own you.

Taxpayers paid MILLIONS for the deceptions of the Obamacare architect, Jonathan Gruber
“The MIT economist who is the brains behind Obamacare has made quite a stir with his admission that President Obama’s health care takeover was built on lies.

Mr. Gruber says he was willing to say and do whatever it took to advance the scheme, and now it’s clear why. Obamacare made Mr. Gruber a multimillionaire, and at the expense of the taxpayers.”

“As Gruber said, had they known that, it never would have passed. They lied about every aspect of this,” Krauthammer said. “But they got away with it.”

In a second video, he (Gruber) discussed how the costs were going to be imposed on Americans and said, “The American voters are too stupid to understand.”

The real kicker is that the American voter did not vote for this nor were we given the opportunity. It was jammed through some midnight voting session.

This does not forgive the “statesmen” who did this. They should have demanded the time to read the blasted thing.

Oh, all those who claim to be leaders? Now hear this. You are not our leaders nor were you voted in to be our leaders. You were voted in as our representatives.

          • KY Mom says:

            Yahooie,

            Good point.

Our country would be in much better shape if EVERY LAW our elected officials in Washington passed HAD to apply to them also.

Social Security – no. Retired Senators and Congressmen instead have what could only be described as a “Golden Parachute” program.

Obamacare – no. Senators and Congressmen opted themselves OUT of Obamacare and have a “Special Healthcare” plan.

I believe if laws passed applied to EVERYONE, there would be more incentive to fix the problems.

There may be social reasons why these main street properties have been lying uninhabited for so long.

Over the years, the population tended to move away from the town centre and disperse to the suburbs. The ‘push’ factors that led to this transformation can be attributed to greater mobility, more affluence and job opportunities.”

Malta, like most European Catholic countries, is experiencing a declining birth rate, hence any “empty properties” are let out during the tourist season bringing in invaluable income – plus, there are no suberbs in Malta to speak of. Outside the centers of population there’s simply scrub and poor farmland. The Maltese themselves are, in fact, regular immigrants to mainland Europe.

Your “statistics” regarding Islamic immigration into Malta do not stand up to the most rudimentary of checks. So, can you show me whereabouts in Malta your imaginary bomb has gone off?

it has no deductible, but co-insurance fees and lab stuff
is horrendous. She gets a subsidy as the real
insurance cost is closer to $8400 per year.
Her coverage is far inferior to what she had
before Obamacare kicked in and doubled the price.
We are getting close to Medicare age so it will become
      academic at that point.
In the mean time HSA’s and catastrophic care policies
would be a real good choice for her
and save us lots of money.
I’m covered by VA so my costs are minimal.
Since there are no VA medical centers here
they send me to civilian doctors, it is like
I’m already on Medicare, but the drugs are
      a lot cheaper!

Let me get this straight. If it is imploding then when it does implode that will be the end of it anyway. HUH? We have ins. through my work, but if I retire early it will be kinda costly so I keep chuggin along. If I work 3 more years I get full retirement but in 3 years there probably will be NO retirement or medical. FOOK, what to do. Keep on chuggin I guess. Got this song stuck in my head dammit lol!

        • Yahooie says:

Genius, I’m looking at the same darn thing. I won’t be able to retire on time. A lot has to do with cost of prescriptions and dental having sucked up money that would have been better invested in a 401k. Since ObamaScare has taken over health insurance, the co-pay on prescriptions has shot up ever more along the costs. On the cheaper ones, they moved them to OTC where they are now $35 on average whereas when they were generic on prescription there was a small or no co-pay. Seems Big Pharms is determined to suck you dry in one way or another.

So here I am, looking for another job, plotting career moves, and planning studies for certifications like I’m 25. In surveying potential jobs to apply for, I’m appalled to find that wages haven’t changed much in 10 years plus there are even more requirements for the simplest of jobs.

          • LowCountry Buckeye says:

I’m self employed single man shop and pay $1400 a month for health insurance for family of 4. Getting surgery this week, went to pre-op yesterday…my out of pocket is $6800 PER PERSON. The surgery is $30k..do the math. At this rate why have insurance?

SC has only ONE provider available, Blue Cross. We are getting wallet raped by these jack-wads. I can’t take it anymore. Te world is upside down!

    7. the blame-e says:

Obamacare is a blood-sucking revenue stream. Former Black Mamba President Barack Obama saw how the insurance industry was bleeding America white and said: “Heh! I want some of that.”

By far, that Black Mamba Obama was the most cynical, blood-sucking president the United States has ever had.

Not only did Obama take his turn at changing U.S. healthcare system into a revenue stream for the government, but made it legal for the government to steal the old-age-nest-eggs of tens of millions of Americans (rhymes with Africans).

When Obama saw how Wall Street was stealing pensions from the American people, he came up with MyIRAs — the PONZI Scheme of all PONZI Schemes.

President Trump repealed MyIRA. Obamacare must be destroyed, and honest reform of the healthcare, healthcare insurance, and the pharmaceutical PONZI Schemes.

    8. KY Mom says:

      Remember this…
March 15, 2010 – Obama speech in Strongsville, Ohio.
OBAMA: “How many people are getting’ insurance through their jobs right now? Raise your hands? A’right. Well, a lot of those folks, your employer, it’s estimated,
would see premiums FALL by as much as 3,000%, which means they could give you a RAISE!”

    9. Wile e. Coyote says:

Ky mom. You always got intelligent info. I’m so sick of Obamacare. I don’t know how much trump care will help but I’m reminded of the old expression. Just do something, even if it’s wrong. Anything has got to be better. Anyone else having to fill out multiple pages for renewal of health insurance? Christ I think they wanna know if you sneezed when you were 12. This insanity must end. And kick these free loading illegals out. That would be a start

      • Eisenkreutz says:

IF THEY BAN HEALTH INSURANCE ALTOGETHER

        AND DO CASH PAY ONLY

IT WOULD COME RIGHT BACK DOWN TO AFFORDABLE PRICES

    10. Brian says:

The only people who will stick to Obamacare, will be the people who need it the most and can afford it the least. If you can’t get healthy people whose medical costs are in the far future to enroll and pay into the system, the system has to fold. The young people are paying the penalty rather than enrolling.

      • Genius says:

If I were to estimate the medical costs I have accumulated in my life up to now (mid 50’s) I would say about 9,000 bux. Not too bad. Much cheaper than insurance.

Made with pine logs it has rotted a lot but the roof was cedar posts. I am redoing it with 12 inch lag bolts, and winch power restriaghtening and concrete and 1 inch plywood roof and good ol german made screws and a shitload of shoveling (getting the sluff out of the sides). I will restore it as close as possible to original because I think people want that especially me. It took me and my friend 3 days to clear the road to it. So overgrown with trees it was a beech. By the growth over the road I would say no one has gone there in ohhhhh 75 years or so. I get most of the materials for free from work but it is a beech getting them up there on 4 wheelers. A labor of love that should last another 100 years!

This simple concept is accepted as the basis for sound economic policy, yet our politicians completely ignore the idea.

It was a ploy to move us towards universal healthcare.
They knew it would be so bad that eventually we would have to go to socialized medicine.
Too bad we have over 200 trillion in debt. Cloward and Piven. Collapse the system.
Obama The Destroyer. Creator of 90 million part time jobs with no benefits.

all I hear is, how high this is, how high that is, yet, Iphones are still selling at 1000 bucks a pop, I just heard how the new cars are being bought , House prices are up, rent is up, food is up, student loans are delinquent, so how are all these people cryin about no jobs, low paying jobs, or just unemployed still out there buying all this over priced shit doesn’t seem to matter how high costs go, or how much every seller is charging for their product, no matter if goods or services.

So somebody must have money to blow….

But hy were getting a 2% COLA, smirk……. (which will end up 0 again once taken back in Part B)

I don’t pay shit for medical company pays $430 wk for me and my three kids comes out to be about $20k a yr. it’s the gold plan the union provides but hey fuck the union right. I will pay $63 a month dues to get good medical with no deductibles. i hear dumb asses talk about how they make more $ per hr than me then I say do you get free medical they say no they pay $200 wk for them and the wife and it sucks has high deductibles too. There goes all that $ they make more than me hourly. Do you have any idea how much it can cost you if your insurance sucks and won’t cover cancer drugs or surgical procedures. When people look at a job they look at hourly wage only this is wrong they should be looking at total compensation package. When you do that $5 more an hour don’t look so good anymore. I’ve done the math I’m coming out ahead this way. Yes it sucks to make less $ but the peace of mind I get knowing I’m not gonna get a huge medical bill is $ in the bank.

If you would like some good news, there is increased interest in a substance called “Beta-Hydroxybutyrat”. The substancnce is produced naturally in the body and is the key to actually curing autoimmune disease, depression, and a host of ailments. Instead of just treating or medicating medical ailments, it is the key to curing them. The problem is that it cures, which means the pharmaceuticals will lose their record profits.

    21. Yahooie says:

Here’s my question about ObamaScare. When did it change from repeal in the campaign to repeal-and-replace once the new administration was sworn in?

Did I miss something? All the talk was repeal. I’m all for repeal. Ditch that bloodsucker. How about repeal and don’t replace? If the gov wants to do something for the poor, expand the clinics so they’ll use that instead of ER for every sniffle. If the gov wants to help out those with expensive diseases, do some co-op with universities. No idea where all the money will come from; maybe siphon some off from some less than useful departments/agencies like EPA or Dept of Education. Just leave the populace with what they had before that was liked and affordable.

    22. Brian says:

The medical costs for the average American can drop substantially when medical professionals figure out how to sustain a level of beta-hydroxylbutyrate (BHB). BHB is produced in the intestines and plays multiple key roles in a person’s overall health including the regulation of the immune system to prevent autoimmune disorders. When they figure this out, they will be curing rather than treating disorders/disasters. Good overall health depends on intestinal health and diet that is rich in fiber.

    23. aljamo says:

Stop paying those in the medical practice huge salaries, it is a practice because you are the willing fleeced guinea pigs. With wrongly prescribed medicine deaths, even going into a hospital is dangerous and one step closer to death by the hands of the overpaid do nothings. Harmaceutically speaking.
