29-Year-Old Welfare Parasite Would Not Accept An $80,000 A Year Job Driving A Truck

This article has been generously contributed by Michael Snyder. You can follow his regular writings, research and analysis at The Economic Collapse Blog and The American Dream. Read his recent book The Beginning of the End to get an idea of what America may look like in the very near future.

Jason-Greenslate-2(Jason Greenslate enjoys a taxpayer funded lobster with friends)

What should be done with a 29-year-old welfare parasite that believes that in addition to practicing with his rock band, his main job in life is to “make sure the sun’s up and the girls are out”?  Most people that receive government assistance truly need the help and do not abuse the system, but there are definitely others that do abuse the system and do not make any excuses for doing so.  When 29-year-old Jason Greenslate was recently asked if he would be willing to take a job driving a truck in North Dakota for $80,000 a year, he said that he would not.  He would rather keep purchasing sushi and lobster with his EBT card and hanging out with his rock band.  Greenslate seems very happy with his taxpayer-funded lifestyle, and he says that he wants “to thank the United States of America, and the situation — the way things are set up”.  Is this really what we pay taxes for?  The rest of us are taxed into oblivion so that we can fund the endless partying of parasites like Jason Greenslate?  What in the world is happening to this country?

If you have never heard of Jason Greenslate, let me get you caught up by quoting the article that I wrote about him last year

When he was asked if he ever had any interest in actually getting a job, his response was “not whatsoever“.  Instead, he says that his job is to “make sure the sun’s up and the girls are out” and he would rather spend his days partying.  Of course every American should be free to live their own lives as they see fit, but the problem is that Jason Greenslate is using food stamps to help support his lifestyle.  In fact, he took Fox News into the gourmet section of a local supermarket where he purchased sushi and lobster with his EBT card.  Sadly, he is just like millions of other young men in America today that seemingly have had the drive to succeed and to be independent totally sucked out of them.  But what is the future of America going to look like if we continue to produce millions upon millions of young men that have absolutely no desire to make a living, get married and start a family?

Just recently, Sean Hannity had Greenslate on his program and asked him if he felt bad that his fellow Californians are being taxed at extremely high levels in order to pay for his lifestyle.   Sadly, this does not appear to bother Greenslate.  The following is from a recent Fox News article

Hannity pointed out that Greenslate rides around in a Cadillac Escalade and frequents strip clubs, all while receiving government assistance and not working at a job that actually pays.

When Hannity asked Greenslate who he thinks pays for his food stamps and free health care, Greenslate said, “Government, taxes, us, the people.”

“Not you, because you’re not paying taxes,” Hannity responded.

Hannity went on to point out that nearly 60 cents out of every working Californian’s dollar goes to taxes. “You’re taking their money and you just don’t seem to care,” Hannity said.

“Who says I don’t care?” Greenslate asked, adding that he was “thankful.”

Hannity even asked Greenslate if he would take a job as a truck driver for $80,000 a year, and Greenslate refused

Hannity went for broke: “If I could get you a job that would pay you $80,000 a year driving a truck in North Dakota, would you take it?

Greenslate paused for a moment to think about it: “No.

Of course most Americans actually do want to work, and only go on government assistance if they really need it.  Unfortunately, however, there are a lot of “Jason Greenslates” out there, and their numbers are growing with each passing year.

And without a doubt, life is tough if you are trying to survive at the low end of the wage scale these days.  It is hard enough to take care of yourself, much less an entire family, on 9 or 10 dollars an hour.

For many, it is simply easier to give up on working for a living and depend on the government instead.

Not that it is easy to find any kind of work these days.  The percentage of low wage jobs in our economy has steadily risen, and the competition for those jobs can be very intense.  Large numbers of college-educated workers are now finding themselves forced to apply for low wage jobs, and this is forcing many less educated workers out of the labor force entirely.  The following comes from a recent CNBC article

Today’s low-wage workers are also more educated, with 41 percent having at least some college, up from 29 percent in 2000. “Minimum-wage and low-wage workers are older and more educated than 10 or 20 years ago, yet they’re making wages below where they were 10 or 20 years ago after inflation,” said Mr. Schmitt, senior economist at the research center. “If you look back several decades, workers near the minimum wage were more likely to be teenagers—that’s the stereotype people had. It’s definitely not accurate anymore.”

But when many college-educated professionals start working these sorts of jobs, they find that they require extremely hard work.

For example, posted below is an excerpt from an article entitled “My Life as a Retail Worker: Nasty, Brutish, and Poor” by reporter Joseph Williams.  Let’s just say that he didn’t really care for his time working in retail after he unexpectedly lost his job…

It didn’t matter if it was at the beginning of my shift, if the store was empty, or if my knees, back, and feet ached from hours of standing. Park your behind while on the clock, went the unspoken rule, and you might find it on a park bench scanning the want-ads for a new job.

Another quick observation: Working in retail takes more skill than just selling stuff. Besides the mindless tasks one expects—folding, stacking, sorting, fetching things for customers—I frequently had to tackle a series of housekeeping chores that Stretch never mentioned in our welcome-aboard chat. Performed during the late shift, those chores usually meant I’d have to stay well past the scheduled 9 p.m. quitting time.

Mop the floors in the bathroom, replace the toilet paper and scrub the toilets if necessary. Vacuum. Empty the garbage. Wipe down the glass front doors, every night, even if they don’t really need it.

Yes, working in retail can be physically, mentally and emotionally exhausting.

I know this from personal experience.  In my younger years, I worked a number of retail jobs.

But nobody should be afraid of a little hard work.

    That is what built America.

If you do have a job, you should be thankful.  The truth is that there are millions of Americans out there that would do just about anything for a decent job at this point.

Of course the U.S. economy should be doing better that it is right now.  I truly wish that it was like the good old days when any hard working person could easily find a decent job.  Thanks to decades of incredibly foolish decisions by our leaders, those days are permanently gone.

And if you think that things are bad now, just wait.  The U.S. economy is already heading toward another recession, and the next great financial crisis is rapidly approaching.

So let us enjoy this period of relative stability while we can.

Very soon, millions more Americans will be losing their jobs and the number of people that actually need government assistance is going to go even higher.

    Jason-Greenslate

This whole Putin/Ukraine thing is a serious misdirection. If Putin is under “sanction,” then Russia can’t or won’t oversee the disposal of Syria’s chemical weapons. If that occurs, it will then give the U.S. license to bomb Syria because as it stands right now, the rebels are losing and Saudi Arabia will never get its control of Syria through a US-installed puppet government….unless Russia is taken out of the equation.

Maybe that’s the plan. Take Russia out, then the globalists can finish their agenda—and us. We should be rooting for Putin, since he seems to be the only one willing to stand up to the globalist agenda—whatever HIS reasons, it benefits US anyway.

Look to the outside, we are the country with our tail tucked between our legs… But, let there be no denying, Bammy has turned the fire up to boil! “We are going to freeze all of the assets of some of the Russian diplomats” but we don’t know if they have any assets in the US. Putin has spanked bammy liked a puppy peeing on the floor and again, on the world stage. Sad part, most of America doesn’t have a clue. Full circle to the dipstick in article. Why should he work if you and me are willing to fund his lobster habit. How many times in the last year have any of you had lobster or sushi on someone else’ nickel. Hmmm, Our next generation of leaders.
                God help us.

Notwithstanding the fact that the dude is a dirty loafer, I wouldn’t necessarily want to pick up from California, leaving everything I know behind, to settle in North Dakota driving a fucking truck either. Maybe Hannity could find him a nice retail job in a music related establishment in California since he has connections. Or maybe Hannity only has clout in ND?

How long are the supposedly awake going remain in TOTAL DARKNESS about the funding and purpose of these “welfare” programs?

They were set up for the politicians to buy votes and create dependency on the corp for that “class” of person so that when this time came they would not have to worry about fighting them.

They are funded 100% by money printing and ZERO PERCENT from your tax dollars, which pay only interest to the banksters.

The banksters bought off the upper class (with high paying jobs producing nothing) and the lower class (by giving them free support) so that neither would come to the aid of the middle class as it is destroyed.

The Rothschild brothers of London writing to associates in New York, 1863.

““The few who understand the system will either be so interested in its profits or be so dependent upon its favours that there will be no opposition from that class, while on the other hand, the great body of people, mentally incapable of comprehending the tremendous advantage that capital derives from the system, will bear its burdens without complaint, and perhaps without even suspecting that the system is inimical to their interests.”

Quit whining about those who were bought off and start to focus on those who made the purchase through the fraud your “tax dollars” pay for.

Do you blame the kid rock wanna be, or do you blame the government and BO’s adminstration? I think the answer is obvious.

I gota tell you this, if that guy can live a life style like that on 200 a month, WE should be taking lessons! Anyone with half a brain can see he has side money coming in from probably many sources besides playing in a band and he is probably using the food stamp deal to try to stay off the IRS radar. I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating. Before I retired, I worked for the US Census doing poverty surveys, unemployment surveys, etc. Often when I visited a home, the children would tell me that Mommy and Daddy are at work. Sometimes a man who spoke little English would tell me that I would have to talk to his wife and she was at work.

Then when I would finally interview Mom, she would tell me that she was neither employed nor married and all her income was from welfare.

The welfare recipients I interviewed had big screen tvs, multiple nice cars, nice clothes, nice toys, computers, cell phones for every family member, washer/dryers, air conditioning, etc.

The only people I interviewed who were truly impoverished were people who refused to accept welfare and worked long hours at low wage jobs.

The way to stop welfare abuse is to turn it all over to the states. Right now, states have an incentive to keep people on welfare — money from welfare programs flows into their states’ economies. If they had a fixed amount for Medicaid, EBT, TANF, etc. they would make sure that only qualified people got the aid.

No, the way to stop welfare is to install an honest system of money that makes it possible to earn an honest days pay for an honest days work.

The people would love that, the banksters no so much.

The article says “Most people that receive government assistance truly need the help…” I believe that is incorrect. Most could work, but choose not to.

I personally know about five people who are on social security disability, and I am quite certain all could work. All you need is a decent attorney, and you got a paycheck for life.

BTW, I don’t know the numbers, I am thinking social security disability is abused more and probably costs us more in tax dollars than welfare. IMO abolish both.

para bellum, I don’t know the figures, but SS disability is definitely something that’s out of control. In Memphis, there are billboards advertising certain law firms’ ‘expertise’ in securing SS disability for people and I’d bet a dollar to a doughnut those lawyers are collecting at least half of a settlement in legal fees. When you see lawyers involved in something, beware.

(I have severe floor problems as a result.) We were told in the letter that if we won the suit, we would each get a grand total of $10.00 to fix our problem pipes…yes 10 DOLLARS – total! So, the scum lawyer gets another vacation home in Tahiti, and I have to find money to fix my pipe/floor problem because thanks to the lawsuit, the door has been closed to get any assistance from the pipe company. As they say, “You can’t take it with you.” I hope these leech lawyers enjoy it while it lasts!

This guy would not be paying 60% of his income. I believe that everyone should pay into a system and if you have never paid in then you could never take out. The problem is we have five generations of welfare. I blame the politicians but I also blame myself for not doing more to shut down these illegal programs. It’s time to hold these criminal politicians responsible for the 17.5 trillion dollar debt not including the unfunded giveaway programs that total another 70-100 trillion dollars. All this on the backs of our children. For this I will not forgive any politician. When companies shutdown in the private sector everyone pretty much lost most if not all they had paid in. The same should go for union and government employees instead of we taxpayers bailing them out. GM should have shuttered 10 years ago and would have if our tax dollars had not been used to bail them out. Now look at the 20 billion dollar loss we taxpayers are taking on GM but the unions and the management got theirs from the taxpayers. Everyone wants to tell you that free enterprise doesn’t work but what we have had is anything but. Time to get back to basis of everyone producing something or they can go stave as far as I’m concerned. Time to get corporate America off the taxpayer tit. Just remember, one hundred years ago these welfare parasites would have gotten a job or starved if the didn’t get help from one of the local churches. The church based assistance was far better because they would not allow you to take without you performing some sort of service for it. It helped the community while it helped the person in need and everybody got to keep their dignity. Sorry about the ramblings of a very pissed off taxpaying American.

With all the knowledge of the founders passed on in wirting for ALL to see and learn from…..yet not enough listened and stayed vigilant. Why in the F would any sane people allow politicians to stay in office forever? With everything we were told about government and power? Yet WE ALL DID just that. Why would we allow the banks and corporations to rise up around us? When were specifially told that this would be worse than standing armies….BUT WE ALL DID EXACTLY THAT!

Claiming welfare doesn’t stop you fishing, hunting or gardening, but for most people regular restaurant meals are out, unless they are funded by friends or family for celebrations.

The black economy is the only part of the economy on either side of the atlantic as more people run various side enterprises for cash in hand. Musicians, and tradesmen are ideally positioned for this sort of work.

It would have to be a conventional war, and the current economy of the United States we would not be able to sustain for a long time. Going to battle with Russia could take years to fight. So please rethink you’re strategy on this, because you and my family’s and many others would not survive. Within a decade of the A-bombs being dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, those 2 cities had been rebuilt and were thriving. In other words, people were living in the same areas once again less than 10 years after the world’s first 2 nuclear weapons were dropped on them. So I just can’t buy into an area being uninhabitable for thousands or even hundreds of years after a nuclear tragedy has affected said area.

“””there are thousands drawing unemployment checks for the past 3 years because a new job pays 5 cents less an hour than their old job.”””

No, their old job paid 50K and the new ones available at Mcdonalds and Walmart pay LESS than unemployment and a SMALL FRACTION of the old one.

In the old days, jobs could be replaced. Now, they can not be at even half of the old pay, and will never be replaced in our lifetimes.

You may as well grab what you can from the sinking ship of state. It is out to get everything it can from you, so what is wrong with returning the favor?

1940, you are thinking like a Man in a world of fictions. Looking at things the old way is no longer in your best interest.

It makes you create enemies out of your fellow victims in effort to remain friends with the crooks and their system.

Gods law directs your behavior towards other Men, and God. It is wrong to take a Mans goat or his wife, but God did not speak of taking fraudulently STOLEN “assets” from a legal fiction created to protect criminals from His people through mans law.

Those paying the benefits are NOT your friends, and those receiving the benefits are not your enemy. You must look beyond the fictional world and judge them righteously as Men in the real world.

Many will not be judged well, but the VAST MAJORITY are good people doing what they must to survive in the fictional system.

My brother-in-law used to whine about all of the people on unemployment and disability. When he suffered an adverse reaction from a pharma drug and almost died, he was unable to work. Now he has become the very thing he hated so much because there was no other choice.

Most people want to do an honest days work for an honest days pay. However, in a dishonest system that is not possible.

Choose your enemies wisely. Don’t start with the victims, start with the criminals and judge the victims only after the crimes have stopped.

There are seveeral methods to deal with mooching career welfare scum.

#1. Anyone who has never worked a job in their lives and is in good health should be given a choice of finding a job, or we will find one for you that you wont like.

#2. Automatic drug testing for all welfare recipients.
(Anyone found to be a drug user to be forever dropped from any and all public assistance.)

#3. Those shucking jiving people who produce bastard ghetto children, and demand to be paid for same should be surgically sterilized when the first bastard ghetto child is shat into the world. (Yes both da baby daddy and da baby momma).

#4.Anyone found to be working,”under the table”and collecting any form of welfare should be dropped from all public assistance forever.

#5. If multigeneration abuse of the welfare system is shown,(great grandma, grandma, mom, and finally daughter all on welfare),all future benefits to be terminated for all.

#6.The philosophy of useless eaters must make a come back as the average taxpayer, can no longer afford to support useless eaters.(Not people who are truly
ill, crippled or blind but perfectly healthy welafre moochers who dont want to work).

#7. Anyone with a felony conviction should be automatically exempt from receiving any and all welfare related benefits.

#8.Let the tax payers decide who they want to support, on the 1040 there should be a line indicating if you want to support the careeer welfare crown or not.

#9.No more welfare for any third world illegals who sneak into America, you wouldnt believe how many of them receive EBT, section 8………….

#10.Personally Id like to see the welfare rolls purged of career welfare moochers, by use of the 22lr to the back of the head. Terminated career welfare moochers do not reproduce the next generation of career welfare moochers.

#11. If I am going to be forced to support scum why shouldnt I have the option of forcing abortions on welfare mammas, and saving some cash I can ill affort to have extorted from me by the government liberals?

I do not work seven days a week because I want to support ghetto scum and illegals, I do it for survival of me and mine.

    3. River-Rat says:

The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday. If all of us “old farts” have all of the money, then let us try to elect someone who might be near honest and not be after feathering their own nests.

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are “Baby Boomers” getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days, and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We have worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Many of us remember what outhouses were, some of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don’t know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Vietnam . We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn’t fight for the Socialist States of America ; we fought for the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.” We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America , and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America .

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the “Hope and Change” which in reality was nothing but “Hype and Lies.”

You have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don’t like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or “Climbing the Social Ladder” to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the “Great Lie” in 2008 are now having buyer’s remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn’t have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank ‘Kool-Aid.’ Now you’re paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom.

This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don’t worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2014 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we’re going, and in 2014 we’re going to the polls by the millions.

This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. It belongs to “We the People” and “We the People” plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren. So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the “Grey-Haired Brigade.”

May of use have served in foreign lands away from home to keep this evil from our own hearth, from the cold of Korea , the rice patties and jungles of Vietnam to the mountains of Afganistan we know the price of keeping Liberty Alive. Now that threat is at our door step, what is happening in our own country , states removing god given rights at the stroke of a pen making criminals out of common people for possessing property that was legal before those in charge removed those rights that they had no authority to do so.
As Thomas Payne said generations ago ” these are the times that try men’s souls”

Even as a 35 to 40K company driver after 5 years sonority still has to pay all there road expense’s, go eat 3 meals a day at a truck stop so auto deduct 30 bucks minimum right there or 9,000 bucks a year in road expense’s, Don’t forget the new DOT physical you must pass which is why I cant drive anymore!!!

I had to sweep and scrub all the floors, including the bathroom. I had to sweep the entire parking lot. We didn’t have leaf blowers; I had to use a push broom. I had to sort the soft drink bottles by company. I had to straighten up and refill the cooler shelves with drinks, beer, and wine. I had to fill the cigarette racks. I had to dust and face the grocery shelves. I had to close out the cash register, count the money, and do a report. I had to read the gas pumps to check for sales and see if any was stolen. Then I had to lock up the store and ride a bicycle for miles in the dark to get home (no street lights in the country).

BTW, I’d learn to drive a big rig if I could get $80,000 per year. A couple of years would buy a lot of supplies.

I owned and drove truck for more than 50 years. And I never ever even came close to making $80,000 in a year. You get paid by the mile. Don’t matter if your just a driver or owner operator. Legally you can only be on duty for 11 hours. So your very lucks to be able to actually drive 10 hours per day. And your lucky if you average 50 miles per hour. so 500 miles In a day. at 32 cents about $160 per day. Take out cost of meals time spent loading & unloading. Fueling & Layovers .time spent doing paperwork. and then you get cheated on your miles because they go by the (household movers guide) rather than hub miles. You end up clearing about a $100 per day. so drivers make about 35 thousand to at best 50 thou per year. I heard about the job in the Dakota oil field paying 80 grand. So I checked it out. They want a owner operator. There are no 80 grand jobs for just a driver.

11 March 2014, 1545 hours. Led into an office and was told, after 16 years of work, I was being RIFF’d. I didn’t throw a temper tantrum, just listened to the HR rep read out the script, what was and wasn’t. The next day, after absent mindedly setting the alarm clock for 0530 wake up buzz, I got up. Then, I remembered…I sat in the chair for nearly 4 hours not really watching the news, but it was on – numbness set in. For those 4 hours, I realized the brutal reality of this situation.
I went to the requisite web site for Unemployment claim, set there, contemplating. “Should I, or shouldn’t I?”
Last time ever set foot inside an Unemployment office, it was after I got out of the Marines, and that was over 40 years ago. Now, it’s all computerized. But the same feeling crept over me…disgust, demeaning experience. Pride? You bet. Why? I was raised and trained to improvise, adapt, overcome. Then another fact – no one hires over 60. No degree. Just a crap load of experience in electronics communications systems. More experience and training than those that hold advanced degrees.

And then, there’s this article of a 29 something that lives the life of Riley. (Yep, heard those radio shows on a Zenith Transoceanic Radio…). Anger is setting in. I’m not angry at my former employer, they were darn good to me. I’m more angry at the system, the same system that we paid into to support people that game it and don’t have a sense of self-worth.

I’m also angry and perturbed that, as a people of this Country, that we fell asleep at the switch. The switch that has a blinking light above it “Bullshit alert!” is blinking on and off at 32 Hz. And 53.3% of the population just looks at it as another pretty blinking light – all the while – over 70 to 100 years of manipulation and planning has brought the economy of the world nearly to it’s knees.

I explain this to other people, and am given the look. You know, “Look, he has three heads…”. I prep, been more serious now than in the last 35 years. No, I’m not some FNG to the prep “scene”, just low profile, OpSec minded to the point where if you were to take a picture of my license plate, you’d see squat. Makes for some interesting LEO stops, I can tell you that…

*Ahem-I digress* I apologize for the rant, to one and all. I will adapt. I will improvise. I will over come. I won’t be like this kid in the article. I won’t allow it to happen. I have more pride in myself than that.
      Be well all.

long as any of us can physically exert ourselves at full power. But
the essential requirement for a combative system is to put you in
control of the situation. Dr. Paul Whitesell, a psychologist at the
Ft. Wayne, Indiana Police Academy says it best in a research paper
he prepared entitled, The Psychology of Intimidation and Physical
Conflict in the Police Profession. “There are basically two types
of attack: predatory and defensive. Predatory attack is very
purposeful or directed. It is pronounced, offensive, dedicated,
committed. Defensive aggression is frantic and wild.”

            if defending :

always step back from the first initial attack . evade and put something solid a obstacle from the environment around you in the attackers path . to give yourself time to assess , how many attackers with what type of weapons physical threats to you , then decide how to react properly . defend brutally with deadly crippling force or flee to safety .

if attacking : use surprise shock and awe – environment camo concealment of surrounding area , use your environment to trap your prey and strike swiftly with a determined purpose , you have 30 seconds to break down subdue or kill the prey . if you can’t then break off the attack . and reassess . if you go past 30 seconds you risk greater physical injury to yourself , maybe death due to physical exhaustion and the involvement of others (a greater threat to you) defending your prey .

We should all be amazed that this guy can actually exist with his lifestyle on that. He actually said that he hopes his music makes him rich so he can get off snap and pay his way. He is not someone to be hated as a single woman with 2 kids gets housing paid for, food paid for, medical paid for, and cash money from the same system. Food stamps output in 2000 was 17.1 billion, 2013-79.9 billion. Now who is really at fault here people? IF there were decent jobs that didn’t get shipped out of this country by crooked politicians, we wouldn’t be having this discussion because they wouldn’t have to keep 50 million people from burning this place to the ground when they are starving BECAUSE OF THEIR ACTIONS. Don’t hate the Jason’s of the world, it is a misdirection to keep you from leveling the cross hairs on the ones that really are your enemy. Jason didn’t ruin this country, 79.9 billion on foodstamps to 50 million out of luck fvked over people by the stinking bankers/pols/corps did.

Trucking ain’t for sissies. I doubt if Jason has what it takes. Here’s just a few of the chores from a typical day in the truck-

The day starts around 3 am, although the schedule is never the same for any two days.
Wade through the mud, snow or ice to hook/unhook trailer at drop yard.
Pre-trip inspection shows trailer has a flat tire (or missing mud flap or burned out tail light or leaky air line or…)
Drive 25 miles to repair shop.
Wait 3 hours to get in repair shop.
Fight rush hour traffic in (insert name of large city here) to get to warehouse.
Wait 3 more hours to get freight loaded.
Drive 25 miles, then stop at truckstop to weigh truck and get fuel.
Wait in line half hour to get to fuel pumps.
Grab a cold corn dog for breakfast, wash down with stumpwater coffee. (yum)
Drive 4 more hours, get pulled into weigh station.
Spend 45 minutes getting truck inspected by Barney Fife.
Truck passes inspection but Barney cites you anyway. Seems one of the peel and stick numbers on the rig has come off, therefore “an accurate and legible vin number is not clearly displayed on the vehicle.”
Make temporary repair with a sharpie ink marker so Barney will let you go.
Drive 2 more hours, stop and chain up to get down Cabbage Hill. (never heard of it? look it up, it’s famous)
Drive another hour (at 22 mph) then stop and remove chains. We have a highly technical term for chain removal. it’s called “unchaining”
      Drive another hour.
Stop at Maybel’s Famous Cuisine. (Their motto- ‘The greasiest greasy spoon in America) Pay $14 for a plate of soggy fries, a meat-type substance and some watery tea. The food is horrible, but Rolaids are complimentary. That’s why I stop.
Drive two more hours, then stop for the night. Parking lot is jammed full, so park on the street (right next to the ‘No Parking’ sign. They don’t mind, really.)
Make the short walk into the truckstop for showers, restroom break, etc. Note- by Federal Law, all truckstop showers must be cleaned and sanitized yearly, whether they need it or not.
Once you’ve cleaned up, rested and done a bit of socializing with fellow drivers, hit the sack. You have a whopping 4 hours till tomorrow and you can start it all again!

River-Rat here: with some thoughts from the bank. Too those that want to take over, invade or whatever to this country; I believe some have forgot that in this wonderful country of ours, we have many combat veterans, young and old, hey some were humping somewhere in combat yesterday and ordering a Quarter-pounder with fries today from their home town Mickey D’s. I know that the Russians, Chinese’s and for the most part, other countries are well trained. But, the vast majority is young and has never; tasted, smelled, or saw real combat up close and personal. Never dove for cover under fire, tried to hide in a rut in the road, used a vine for cover, or just curled up in a ball praying that the rounds and fling steel will just stop, a lot of us have been there. They will learn like we did, so it is our mission to see that it doesn’t last that long for them to learn. When it starts and it will soon, we must take it to them whomever they maybe, with a vengeance like never seen before on the face of this earth. We must end it quick and show absolutely no mercy. Time grows short; prepare mind, body, and soul for the approaching times.

Rather than condemn this man, it is more useful to look at the perverse incentives out there and why what he is doing is a perfectly rational response. It is human to want to enjoy life and pursue what is important to you. This man wants to be a musician in a band (let’s leave the issue of talent and ability to one side for now). He has prioritized this in his life and the babes and the rock and roll lifestyle are just part and parcel of being in a band. If he wanted to be a doctor, he would be hanging out at medical conventions and lectures, and banging women with science PhDs.

Right now, the economic system is so messed up, the tax system is so messed up, and the welfare and benefits system and working conditions are so messed up, it is no surprise people behave the way they do. Rather than giving homilies to the soul-satisfying attributes of hard work (wasn’t it Reagan who once said “Hard work never killed anyone, but why risk it!”), it is better to focus on fixing the macro-economy and its incentives and then you will see human behavior adjust accordingly.

      • @Frank Thoughts,.
You, .02 and Gods Creeation are the most rationaled on here today with this subject who have thought through this with critical thinking. Scary that most preppers, especially those who call themselves Christian, are still stuck in the matrix and old (wrong) way of thinking. And some of them are just down right mean spirited with hearts full of hate, all misdirected albeit.

So many just don’t understand that it is going to take heart to survive what’s coming, and even then it may not be God’s will for everyone to survive it on this side of the grass. All this tough talk, OPSEC, molon labe, aome and take it, yada yada yada. Yes there will coem a time to defend, when there is NO other choice left. And each will have to listen to God through the spirit to know what and when to do what for each individual person/family. Sometimes it might be to give a hand, to have heart and compassion even in the face of what seems wrong or impossible. It is not up to us to decide….it is God’s decision and it is God who we need to listen to. And you can look at thousands of years of history to know that God has a different vision and wisdom than man does and he rarely if EVER did things a conventional way that man would think to do.

My point is there is a time to be shrewd, clever, cunning and WISE. But there is also a time for heart adn compassion and to stop thinking as of old in the matrix. Forget what you think is old conservative ways of thinking, that is the brainwashing TPTB taught your grandparents, parents and you. Yeah I grew up with hard stuff to go through and not in a fmaily with money. I have worked hard my whole life adn did what I had to to survive and support my family. I believe in God, His son Jesus adn the Holy Spirit, and the Bible. I believe in old ways and conservatism too…..but I understand just enough to know that we have been dooped, screwed over, lied to and robbed. And not from BO or Bush or the right or the left…..But from the international money lenders, the corps and ALL POLI TICS. They want us to fall for the Overton Windows, the Hegelian Dialect, the two partys system, and to infight adn be fractured a million times…that way the 99% will never consolidate adn wake up anb direct all their indignant anger in the right direction.

Ok, I typed way more than I like….rant off.

    59. America was built off the white European work ethic. Diversity has implemented an entire group of dependent folks with little to no work ethic. The take-over of education by these same culprits dumbs down the young ones and fosters a dependency mindset, not to mention total laziness (just compare Common Core to what I grew up with in the 1960′s school systems).

Even from the lowest educated state in the union (Mississippi), I was taught upper maths, sciences, and history (albeit tainted from the government’s POV). If you failed… you FAILED and stayed back to do it all over again.

My mother is German (born in 1942 and raised in WWII’s aftermath). The German work ethic is unbelievable and she taught me to earn for myself and not depend on any entity.

But, I would be remiss to discount how where we are is purposeful and orchestrated. We are brainwashed to believe this is how it should be. With each and every generation, the work ethic is watered down to near nothingness. The Haves are able to send kids to schools (private) which still teach certain priorities. But schools like I once attended now don’t so the same.

No one left behind and every gets to pass (work hard or not).

Also, we must note that as people like this author seem to dislike the slugs who get a few hundred bucks a month (with the cursury attempt to address the people who simply can NOT find work, much less an $80K/year job some TV personality says he can get him), I want to see someone address the real welfare queens: the Bankers and giant corporations who get $80BILLION/month (which dwarfs the slugs meager pittance)). And ho about the giant corporations who off shore their headquarters and pay ZERO taxes. Or folks like Facebook and GE owners who get all sorts of subsidies and tax breaks where I (a poor Tennessean) pay more in actual taxes than they do.

If someone wants to bitch, then why not harp on these same giant corp asswipes that sent all the decent paying jobs to China, for more profits (and enjoying their Mega bonuses and tax free lifestyles).

I would say that focusing on some rock band punk who is the least problematic and not addressing the REAL issues shows stupidity or worse.

This article is total bullshit designed to stir the crap with a bunch non sequiturs and irrelevancies to keep all the sheeple stirred up with irrelevant nonsense. First of all, Jason Greenslate (a jewish name by the way) is not a parasite, he’s a hardworking, innovative American taking advantage of something that has been made available to him by the lowlife elected officials. He’s not abusing the system any more than a McDonald Monkey abuses the system by having an EBT card all because they both have low paying jobs whose income doesn’t meet some artificial government standard…? So, a McDonald Monkey is legitimate but someone who plays in a rock band is not? Jason Greenslate obviously has a job playing in a rock band although rock bands don’t normally play for free, they also don’t pay very well. The way I read it, he’s a hardworking up and coming career musician. His career path is no more dishonorable (actually less) than an attorney or a tripe writer. His philosophy about what he should or should not be doing with his life is irrelevant. The same goes of Michael Snyder, Sean Hannity or anyone on this board. To think otherwise or to use Jason’s philosophy as a talking point to denigrate him or rock musicians is absurd. Thirdly, why should he stop playing in his rock band to go off to North Dakota to drive a truck? That whole idea strikes me as totally asinine. Why doesn’t Michael Snyder go off to North Dakota and drive a truck? I’ll tell you why… he makes more money spewing tripe than working hard for a living. Fourth, the article never mentions how much welfare he’s getting but only that he’s using his EBT card (AKA foodstamps) to buy sushi etc… Talk about stirring up a bunch of shit!!! Michael Snyder might as well have said he was buying weed to make cookies with from the local (legal) medical marijuana facility. The kind of car he drives or where he hangs out is irrelevant and actually nobody’s business. You all might be better served by focusing more on how the bankers, rulers and politicians have fucked up the system and destroyed the economy instead of demonizing a hard working up and coming career musician. Just saying.

    62. JayJay says:

Colonel David Crockett was a member of Congress when the Georgetown fire consumed many homes and left women and children suffering in the streets. Crockett, along with other congressmen, appropriated $20,000 for their relief.
Later that year, while campaigning in his district, he met a farmer named Horatio Bunce who said he voted for him once but couldn’t do it a second time because he did not have the capacity to understand the Constitution.
Horatio told him the Constitution must be sacred and rigidly observed in all its provision. He told Crockett that he read in the papers last winter where he voted for the bill to appropriate $20,000 to some sufferers of the Georgetown fires. David Crockett replied “certainly nobody will complain that a great and rich country like ours should give the insignificant sum of $20,000 to relieve suffering.”
“It is not the amount Colonel Crockett, that I complain of; it is the principle.
In the first place, the government ought to have in the treasury no more than enough for its legitimate purposes. The power of collecting and disbursing money at pleasure is the most dangerous power that can be entrusted to man. If you had the right to give anything the amount was simply a matter of discretion. You could have given twenty million as easily as the twenty thousand. If you have the right to give to one, you have the right to give to all.
The Constitution neither defends charity nor stipulates the amount. You will very easily perceive what a wide door this would open for fraud and corruption and favoritism.
No, Colonel, CONGRESS HAS NO RIGHT TO GIVE CHARITY. Individual members may give as much of their own money as they please, but they have no right to touch a dollar of the public money for that purpose.”
At a later time in the House of Representatives, a bill was taken up to appropriate money for the benefit of a widow of a distinguished naval officer. The speaker was about to put the question to a vote when Crockett arose: “Mr. Speaker: I have as much respect for the money of the deceased and as much sympathy for the sufferings of the living, as any man in this House, but we must not permit our respect for the dead or our sympathy for a part of the living to lead us into an act of injustice.
We have the right, as individuals, to give away as much of our own money as we please but as members of Congress we have no right to appropriate a dollar of public money. Mr. Speaker, I have said we have the right to give as much money of our own as we please. I am the poorest man on this floor. I cannot vote for this bill, but I will give one week’s pay to the object. If every member of Congress will do the same it will amount to more than the bill asks. The bill failed to pass.
Later Colonel Crockett spoke, “You remember that I proposed to give a weeks’ pay? There are in that House many very wealthy men who think nothing of spending a week’s pay for a dinner or a wine party when they have something to accomplish by it. Yet not one of them responded to my proposition. Money with them is nothing but trash when it is to come out of the people. But it is the one great thing for which most of them are striving and many of them sacrifice honor, integrity and justice to obtain it.”
Colonel David Crockett was elected to Congress in 1827 and served until 1835. In one hundred and seventy five years congress has changed very little. The only real change we see is that there isn’t a Davy Crockett there to control them.

14786.00/yr Federal Taxes (Tax at 75000 AGI)
6120.00/yr Social Security / Medicare Taxes
3200.00/yr State Taxes (4% Tax Rate)
7800.00/yr Food (150/week – has to eat out on the road)
      4800.00/yr Car (400 / month for a dependable car)
      1800.00/yr Car Insurance (150/month – full coverage)
11400.00/yr Rent (950/month – no more housing subsidy)
      1440.00/yr Electric (120/month)
2000.00/yr Heating Oil (166.66/month averaged over year
      500.00/yr Water (125.00 / 3 months)
      3120.00/yr Gas (60.00/week)
      1500.00/yr Cable TV Internet (125.00/month)
      900.00/yr Cell Phone (75.00/month)

      1200.00/yr Dental (100/month – no subsidy)

      Total Expenses: 68798.00

Now Subtract Living Expenses From Salary

      80000.00 – 68798.00 = 11202.00/yr Net Income

Which translates to 215.42 per week disposable income.

Maybe some rice and a few canned veggies with a voucher or two for milk. That’s it. No more cards loaded up with dollars you can spend on convenience food at gas stations, steak at strip clubs, lobster, etc.

After awhile, people will get tired of eating beans and rice. (I know this, because we had to do it for a long while to pay off debt, and we still have to eat “poor” from time to time.)

I was with the author right up to the “Most people” part. As a society, we have been conditioned to accept lower and lower thresholds for “need” and “deserve”. The definitions, on a societal level, have been muddied to the point that many who are not truly in need, or deserving, of help, can not only qualify, but also have a large portion of our populace rain down wrath upon those who would disagree and speak out on the subject.

It is well hidden these days, due to EBT cards blending right in with debit/credit card purchases, but try to recognize when people at the grocer check-out are dividing their purchase into two transactions. Often, when I observe this, the customer is paying for things like cigs and booze with cash, and then buying food and other EBT qualified items with government assistance. I have been shouted down by bleeding hearts who insist that it is none of my business how these people spend “their” money, and that they are just as entitled to their vices, as I am mine. Once the blinders come off, I think you will see that the “Most people” statement is a stretch, at best.

The real issue is corporate gluttony and wage inequality. The wage gap in this country is the largest it has ever been. Wealth is concentrating at the top while the middle class is snuffed out and left with few other options than state assistance.

This person obviously does not really need the assistance, but very many people do. Is that not a sad testament to the state of affairs in our country?

The media creates a focal point upon at which they expect people to vent their anger. The anger is misdirected. It should be directed at the government, financiers, and corporations for raping our country and selfishly aggrandizing wealth.

This man has called BS on the whole system. And he is right to do so. As the many wise people who post here know full well, the system is massively screwed up and has been for decades. The incentives are all wrong: the idea you marry, have 2 kids, work all hours and save, and that will make you prosperous, was an illusion by the 1970s. Wages and salaries have stagnated relative to inflation or even gone backwards. In the meantime, you will have seen university tuition go through the roof, so dreams of little Jenny becoming a doctor just got a lot harder. The middle class is collapsing across the Western world.

This man has looked around and seen what is going on. He could work himself into an early grave and just end up under piles of debt and unhappy (or, if he succeeded, had somebody from a so-called ‘minority’ sneer at him and call him “The Man” and demand he hand over his wealth for “da privilege ya got”), or he could just take the free food and pursue his dream of being in a band and enjoy the ladies that go with it. I’d do the same if I was him.

        Precisely. You got it.

This is what happens when you use the productive members of society as cash cows.

You get no more productive members of society.

        • old guy says:

What is happening is over half of the folks don’t think they need to produce. They think someone else will produce for them. Now the few still producing are asking themselves WHY? Why be productive when Im robbed(taxed) and the fruits of my production are redistributed to the non producing parasites. So many producers just quitor only produce enough for their own needs. Too many taking parasites and too few making producers is not sustainable.

          • How does one “produce” when there are no jobs that offer productive wages? You act as if there are jobs a plenty and the slugs just avoid them.

            Bullshit.

Your name is “old guy” so I can assume you are at least as old as I (52).
I think that it is evident that there are not many decent jobs left and that the real comparison to, let’s say the 1970′s in wages is less today. The cost of living is much higher (especially without the decent jobs).

Are you stuck in the 70′s, old guy?

Are you even older… someone who had a decent job and was able to invest and garner a decent retirement (something NOT available to “over half of the folks” you write about)?

Let me tell you. I have three degrees and spent 25 years in automation/robotics related engineering and sales. This was after my stint in the Navy.

I had money, lots of it.

Then they sent the jobs away (manufacturing, which is where I made my living). To make ends meet, I had to cash in all of my retirement when I lost my business in the 2008 crash and went 2 years unemployed, desperately trying to find a job EVERY day. I FINALLY found a job (at less than half of what I had been making and it lasted for 10 months (end of Feb this year) and the company hit hard financial times and the new guy was laid off (I am unemployed AGAIN).

If you think that the problems we see in this country are because of the people who have no real opportunities or are forced into McDonald’s jobs which don’t pay the bills, then sorry, you are a senile old moron.

Just kill yourself and will me your fortune.

80,000$ a year driving a truck? WHERE DO I SIGN UP! Sadly I doubt this job is available. BTW Just how much is this guy getting from the state that he can afford to buy Susi and lobster? I get 800$ a month being on disability, after my monthly bills (about 500$) I have 300$ left over for Gas for my truck, Food, and other things like a few books etc. How the hell is this guy buying lobster is what i want to know. I just turned 38, I live in a mobilhome park (at least i own the trailer). Even on Disability i would KILL to find a decent paying job that i could do. Sadly things like jobs don’t seem to exist anymore.

Anyone willing to hire a overweight out of shape somewhat crazy guy on disability? lol thought not. Know the really stupid thing about disability? They limit what you can save to 2000$ basically making it guaranteed that you will never get off it because you can’t save enough for a buffer.

I call BS on this story, If someone offered me 80k HELL 40-60K a dang year to drive a truck i would jump at it in a heartbeat. SIGN ME UP!!! Lol after living on about 10k a year ^40-80k would be a dream come true.
