Bubble-Photo-by-Jeff-Kubina1-300x300One of the men that won the Nobel Prize for economics this year says that “bubbles look like this” and that he is “most worried about the boom in the U.S. stock market.”  But you don’t have to be a Nobel Prize winner to see what is happening.  It should be glaringly apparent to anyone with half a brain.  The financial markets have been soaring while the overall economy has been stagnating.  Reckless injections of liquidity into the financial system by the Federal Reserve have pumped up stock prices to ridiculous extremes, and people are becoming concerned.  In fact, Google searches for the term “stock bubble” are now at the highest level that we have seen since November 2007.  Despite assurances from the mainstream media and the Federal Reserve that everything is just fine, many Americans are beginning to realize that we have seen this movie before.  We saw it during the dotcom bubble, and we saw it during the lead up to the horrible financial crisis of 2008.  So precisely when will the bubble burst this time?  Nobody knows for sure, but without a doubt this irrational financial bubble will burst at some point.  Remember, a bubble is always the biggest right before it bursts, and the following are 15 signs that we are near the peak of an absolutely massive stock market bubble…

#1 Bob Shiller, one of the winners of this year’s Nobel Prize for economics, says that “bubbles look like this” and that he is “most worried about the boom in the U.S. stock market.”

#2 The total amount of margin debt has risen by 50 percent since January 2012 and it is now at the highest level ever recorded.  The last two times that margin debt skyrocketed like this were just before the bursting of the dotcom bubble in 2000 and just before the financial crisis of 2008.  When this house of cards comes crashing down, things are going to get very messy

“When the tablecloth gets pulled out from under the place settings, you’re going to have a lot of them crash and smash on the floor,” said Uri Landesman, president of Platinum Partners hedge fund. “That margin’s going to get pulled and everyone’s going to have to cover. That’s when you get really serious corrections.”

#3 Since the bottom of the market in 2009, the Dow has jumped 143 percent, the S&P 500 is up 165 percent and the Nasdaq has risen an astounding 213 percent.  This does not reflect economic reality in any way, shape or form.

#4 Market research firm TrimTabs says that the S&P 500 is “very overpriced” right now.

#5 Marc Faber recently told CNBC that “we are in a gigantic speculative bubble”.

#6 In the United States, Google searches for the term “stock bubble” are at the highest level that we have seen since November 2007 - just before the last stock market crash.

#7 Price to earnings ratios are very high right now…

The Dow was trading at 17.8 times the past four quarters of earnings of its 30 components, according to The Wall Street Journal on Friday. That was up from 13.7 times its earnings a year ago. The S&P 500 is trading at 18.7 times earnings. The Nasdaq-100 Index is trading at 21.5 times earnings. At the very least, the ratios are signaling that stock prices are rich.

#8 According to CNBC, Pinterest is currently valued at more than 3 billion dollars even though it has never earned a profit.

#9 Twitter is a seven-year-old company that has never made a profit.  It actually lost 64.6 million dollars last quarter.  But according to the financial markets it is currently worth about 22 billion dollars.

#10 Right now, Facebook is trading at a valuation that is equivalent to approximately 100 years of earnings, and it is currently supposedly worth about 115 billion dollars.

#11 Howard Marks of Oaktree Capital recently stated that he believes that “markets are riskier than at any time since the depths of the 2008/9 crisis”.

#12 As Graham Summers recently noted, retail investors are buying stocks at a level not seen since the peak of the dotcom bubble back in 2000.

#13 David Stockman, a former director of the Office of Management and Budget under President Ronald Reagan, believes that this financial bubble is going to end very badly

“We have a massive bubble everywhere, from Japan, to China, Europe, to the UK.  As a result of this, I think world financial markets are extremely dangerous, unstable, and subject to serious trouble and dislocation in the future.”

#14 Bob Janjuah of Nomura Securities believes that there “could be a 25% to 50% sell off in global stock markets” over the next couple of years.

#15 According to Tyler Durden of Zero Hedge, the U.S. stock market is repeating a pattern that we have seen many times before.  According to him, we are experiencing “a well-defined syndrome of ‘overvalued, overbought, overbullish, rising-yield’ conditions that has appeared exclusively at speculative market peaks – including (exhaustively) 1929, 1972, 1987, 2000, 2007, 2011 (before a market loss of nearly 20% that was truncated by investor faith in a new round of monetary easing), and at three points in 2013: February, May, and today.”

As I mentioned at the top of this article, this stock market bubble has been fueled by quantitative easing.  Easy money from the Fed has been artificially inflating stock prices, and this has greatly benefited a very small percentage of the U.S. population.  In fact, 82 percent of all individually held stocks are owned by the wealthiest 5 percent of all Americans.

When this stock market bubble does burst, those wealthy Americans are going to be in for a tremendous amount of pain.

But there are some people out there that argue that what we are witnessing is not a stock market bubble at all.  That includes Janet Yellen, the new head of the Federal Reserve.  Recently, she insisted that there is absolutely nothing to be worried about…

“Stock prices have risen pretty robustly,” Yellen said. “But I think that if you look at traditional valuation measures, you would not see stock prices in territory that suggests bubble-like conditions.”

We shall see who was right and who was wrong.  Let’s all file that one away and come back to it in a few years.

So where are stocks going next?

If you had the answer to that question, you could probably make a lot of money.

Yes, the current bubble could burst at any moment, or stocks could continue going up for a little while longer.

After all, the S&P 500 has risen in December about 80 percent of the time over the past thirty years.

Perhaps that will be the case this December as well.

    Perhaps not.

    Do you feel lucky?

When the dust settles most of the ” worthless eaters” will be dust!
Then as you say we have survived its collapse and can then start making plans.

Rich, I kinda agree with you but things are getting a little more tightened. I have been saying for some time, that bank holidays are what we look for. Locally, one credit union is having, supposed computer problems. They are limiting a max. of $100 withdraws and check transactions aren’t working nor deposits. Just a glitch? It has been going on for over a week. Don’t believe this is isolated nor just an unplanned fluke.

@ RICH99. What you say is exactly what is the most frightening about a bubble financial explosion, the OTHER nightmares that helps cause it. Every bubble that continues to expand loses mass, the skin becomes thinner and thinner until it can’t retain the pressure any longer and BOOM. What will precisely be the catalyst that causes this is still up for debate.

I have been reading about these BO microchips for BO care. I can tell you something, I will die fighting before any of those MF’s puts one of those demonic devices into me. I ain’t no Borg, or some lab rat. I think most of the people here feel the same. There is something called quality of life, and having some device in your crosses that line of what is life. There are actual;ly imbeciles out there that WANT those chips put into them. This just freaks me out to think of some government, not just the US government, but any government chipping you. People talk about this being the mark of the beast, I call it RAPE of a person.

Then I think about the bumfaces like piers morgan that want to take every last firearm away from every last person. These f’ers want to take away your ability to protect yourself. These are the type of sickos that like to tie up inncoent women or children and torment me so they can’t fight back and defend themselves. I know I rant on about this often, but it is just so unfair evil that dolts out this injustice. It is is becoming more and more likely that this is soon ready to happen. So upsetting, thank goodness, and I say goodness agaisnt the evil, there are still people out there that respect freedom and understand how a human being without freedom is really and truly dead inside.

I think Snyder has a misleading title for this article. Go back and look at #’s 1, 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. He refers to people and their opinions. Nothing but opinions. And for every opinion that is negative you could find a positive one. As for #’s 8, 9, and 10, SO WHAT? Just because they are over priced or haven’t made a profit does not guarantee we are near the peak of a massive stock market bubble. Heck, Amazon didn’t show a profit for years and it is a viable company that the “profits” were reinvested back into the company and it’s growth. So that leaves #’s 2, 3, and 7 which may indicate a market top NOT a massive bubble bursting.

For more information on Michael Snyder and his analysis of the stock market see this article with his predictions for 2013. http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/50-predictions-for-2013 number 25 is far from the truth as the Dow Jones is up 22% as of today’s close. I really don’t know what the NASDAQ or S&P are up for the year. His article was printed on January 1, 2013.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 8 Thumb down 10

                  Rich99.

I think you are wrong, even though I gave you a thumbs up for somewhat critical thinking.

We will see the collapse relatively soon. By that I am talking, actually I am typing, anywhere from 18 months to at most 5 years.

Yes I believe the full blown collapse and possible martial law will occur within 5 years. Here is why….

Our economy and dollar value and work production has been eroding since 911. The first signs were in 2004 and became bigger in 2007-2008. We did not recover, therefore we are printing monopoly money until it becomes worthless.

By the printing press going from QE to QE-infinity is a very strong sign that they are giving up.

They are printing monopoly money to save themselves, not to save us. Once they have adjusted, we are toasted. Trust me, the wealthy are not putting their dollars into banks, they are putting it into tangible assets.

We The People will be left hanging when the Day comes. It is in a meltdown phase right now and would absolutely collapse if the printing press stops. So they will keep printing to make the collapse a smooth landing. A smooth landing for them, and a terrible hard crash for us.

We have $5T annual deficits. A number impossible to collect because there are not enough taxpayers to do so. So confiscation will be the way. At collapse, all debt will be on us and the UN Peacekeeper will be around to keep the peace….

I wish you were right but the system is on its own time table now and no one can stop it. The psychos in charge have lost control because they are nothing but ignorant, greedy, corrupt idiots. Do you really think things are going according to their plan, no, this is a freight train that is overloaded, getting ready to scream down hill and the brakes aint working. They wish they could disarm the citizens first but the damage to this country is too severe to last much longer. The whole world is on fire right now so buckle up and look at everything realistically, it is getting very bad.

All I hear on the news lately is white noise and it is getting louder every day, eventually it will be silent and when the shock wears off it will be every man for himself.

Something is not right, I feel it and sense it, I hope I’m wrong but I can not shake this feeling.

If they put us all out of work, and crash the market, we will all be broke. Then when the dollar collapses, no harm ,no foul, since we won’t have any. Smart Eh.

The point is they collapse it when nobody believes it’s going to collapse! When the stock market collapses they want to be the only one’s making money off of it and the only way to do that is with everyone else’s money still in it. The collapse of the economy is just the first step. Remember “order through chaos” is their slogan. Once the economy collapses and we start killing one another or we die from disease/starvation then the people who are left are more easily controlled. Remember the Georgia guidestones. They want to limit the population so they are more easily to control and accept things like microchips and forced gun
                  confisication.

It’s not so much “chipping” me. Go right ahead, it’s just a piece of silicone with a coil.

It’s the DATA. And who gets to read the data. And who gets to track the data. And who gets to bar me entry to commerce due to the data.

Hell, man, if I made my own personal chip to monitor my own heart rate while jogging and log it into my own computer and no one else could read it? No problem who cares.

Yeah except it’s not like that, is it?

Concentrating on the tech is sort of missing the really big point here.

None of you seem to “Get” it. The end isn’t like a movie. There will be no scren shot of “THE END” followed by credits. In Iceland, Greece, or Spain, no one has said; OK this is it. If you were a Steel worker “IT” came and went 10 years ago. If you have a Detroit pension, IT came this week. Before you start predicting “When”; define; “What”? If the collapse of the dollar is what, then we started that 80 years ago.
IMHO the 3 Trillion dollar failure of the banks, 5 years ago was the big “IT”. (Actually from NAFTA and all the stupd trade policy issues, we were dead) From that point on, there was nothing that could be done. The Gov and the Fed decided the bankers, not the public must be saved. If you wish to define the failure of Food Stamps or SS Cheaks as failure fine, but make your definition before you argue.

To the speculator that shorted the gold market and sees a rainbow of profit forever in his or her future, the collapse may seem irrevelent but he or she might just want to think about purchasing a station wagon.

They know at this rate it will take 28 years to confiscate guns. The Govt is taking about 2,000 guns a day from citizens 200 million guns in private hands. They will grab the people with those guns. I do not think they have any more time left. The economy is costing trillions to keep this world economy going.
They will have to go to plan “B” Crash the economy, USE FORCE and foreign troops to collect gun owners and your food, preps.

The stock market bubble will not bust. The numbers will continue to rise so long as the fed is pumping a trillion a year into it. They have nowhere else to go.

Instead, the dollar bubble will bust first when al the overseas dollars make their way home, and stock prices will shoot to the moon priced in increasingly worthless dollars.

It may go up by 10% in a day, but the value of the dollar will drop 20% on that day. When a loaf of bread cost 20 FRNs, the stock market at 30,000 will see normal.

If it does bust by accident (bankster mistake), confidence in the mother of all ponzi scheme will evaporate and people will begin using the FRNs for toilet paper.

Nobody knows how the scheme will play out, even the schemers. When the banksters lose control, there will be a small window of opportunity for the people to take it back.

Can you just imagine – every major city that is chocked full of millions of these welfare leeches will become disease and rat infested death traps for anyone who is unfortunate enough to be caught inside them. Just trying to navigate your way out of these cities, will become a dangerous challenge – so, I’d suggest that everyone stock up on N-95 rated masks and nylon or latex gloves.

The stench of the rotting corpses of a few million leeches is not going to be a pleasant experience, I promise you.

Economics does not care about “YOUR” definition of useless eaters. Anyone that does not produce, is a useless eater. It makes no economic differance if that person was at one time a wonderful producer, or not. So many cans of beans are produced, so many eaten. Yes, I have no pity for those that never produced, just took, but in the crunch, pity won’t be very useful. Unfortunately, I’m getting old enough that I’m in the useless department. That’s why the basement is full. I have a little extra cash and can perhaps help others.

The market has been collapsing at least since the early 1970′s when I saw the first books on this subject (buy gold and silver). That was 40 years ago and it’s still ‘crashing’ any day, week, month, year now. Seems that at the same time all the televangelists and bible prophesy writers were saying that the ‘end was near’. Well that’s been at least 40 years too and you can still find some of these folks on T.V. still saying any day, week, month, year now when Armageddon is here. And folks are still falling for both of these stories as if they had just come ‘hot off the presses’. These guys have some special book or product that will give you all the necessary info to prepare for collapse or Armageddon, or both. Fear is the best selling product out there and they know it. Too bad you sucker don’t. 40 years later and they’re still scamming fools like all of you. You can still find some of these old failed prophetic books on line. Buy one or two for laughs and see if I’m telling the truth.

These blogs, the responses I’m typing now, our cell phones and tablets, our credit cards, all records entered electronically anywhere are all used to do the same thing as a bio chip would do. It is true that debt has to be repaid or cancelled but the system of borrowing and printing money by the those in control has no upper limit. The end of that will be by outside force (another country, a world shaking natural disaster, God deciding enough is enough, etc.) We the poeple could do it but we won’t because we are not united and we as a people have not felt strong common pain through out this land. Lastly I’m mostly scared not for me but my kids and grand kids that will not see the need to prep and get caught with the sheeple.

@ Facebook Page. I truly believe this with each and every Prepper/Survivalist. When a mega SHTF happens you should try your very best to stay isolated and away from the crowds. Not only is it the danger from those seeking food and supplies, but disease is going to be rampant. There are all sorts of bacteria disease that people can transmit to others that have caught them from basic filth and unsanitary conditions. Cholera and dysentary are a couple that come to mind. Without antibiotic treatment these diseases can make you very sick or kill you. Viruses are always a concern also.

I say this because many people still don’t understand just how hideous it will be when the regular trash pick-ups end, the toilets don;t work, filth and rotting fecal material and dead bodies breed death much more so that even nuclear weapons. Stay away from people as much as possible unless others in the community understand safe practice of keeping themselves as clean as possible.

RICH talks about this happening in the distant future, which could happen, but I don’t feel like it. The issue is the mega SHTF can happen in a flash. Could be the Sun decides to let loose a nice massive bubble of “gas”. Could be war as with war, events happen quick and expand rapidly. Could be a nuclear weapon let off somewhere. I could imagine what would happen to the stock market if smallpox turned up in a few spots. It is my firm belief that every single deadly human virus has a reservior somewhere else than the human beings themselves. With MERS they think it is camels and bats. With smallpox a hidden reservior could be some bird or other animal. I have been suspect that in very dry conditions where smallpox victims have been buried might hold the virus in a hibernating state. This is why these real estate developer might one day unearth a grave from someone that died 100 years ago from smallpox and it naturally starts up again. Could be frozen somewhere in some tundra region.

The point is that we should all prepare like the mega SHTF is going to hit tomorrow, because it could.

A barter store is a good idea, but you need to do two things. 1. Wait. (The real mess cannot last very long. Yugo was a small place with lots of farmers and lots of foreign intervention. If it gets that bad here, it’s over soon. No one has the ability to do much here. Cities are dead in 6 weeks, roving bands don’t last much longer. Anywhere with bad winters is on the way back up in a year.) 2. Try to start a shop where you do something, not sell something. That way your inventory isn’t worth much,it’s your skill

All of the data, shopping habits, browsing histories, contacts and, just raw personal info is what is valuable. Valuable to corporate AND government interests.

It use to be that the economy would lag about six to eight months behind the market. The stock market is no longer representative of the US economy. It the two were connected, real unemployment would be less than four percent, welfare would be well below where it is now and the government treasury would be over flowing……or…….the stock market would be hovering around 6000.

I wont panic until the market get’s about 20% below what the US economy is doing, say 4800. If it keeps dropping below that then the SHHTF.

It would also get you to that 5000 an oz for gold. China’s unilateral expansion of their air space and control zone is only a first step. They will not walk it back, they will not pivot. If their moon mission is a success, their national pride will be at a fever pitch. Nationalist propaganda will be everywhere in China. It seems like some serious posturing to me.

It often requires a trigger event, like a natural catastrophe or a war, but sometimes it’s just one bank admitting failure, as with Credit Anstalt.

Anyway, there’s a fallacy about halfway down the article. Maybe 85% of the “individually owned” stocks are owned by 5% of the people, but almost everyone owns stocks indirectly, through their 401k accounts, IRAs, life insurance policies, medical insurance policies, etc.

The current cost of silver mining directly, on a silver ore body, does not justify its cost to mine. Producers are hedging their profit with 50% contracts for half of their production to keep their mines open and operating without a profit, hoping for an increase in price.

Some silver mines in Mexico have closed or delayed their opening and the owners are also being intimidated by Drug Cartels for “protection”.

BUT remember most older mines that produce silver produce it as a by product of say copper.
In NV there is a huge copper mine that does all it can to by past silver when it was low. Then they like it at 40.

Now as far as I know they are stock piling in in 1000 oz mine pours waiting for the next boom.

It matters Not to that denials majority what facts are shown as yentals and others posts has so often proven.

Even someone you would consider a fool has knowledge to share. In the town I used to live in, there was a dishwasher who would talk to himself and seemed to be mentally deficient. I found that he was an authority on local history and could tell me a lot if I steered the conversation. Any book about the town published in the last 40 years has his name in the credits for supplying photos.

I doubt it. Watch Japan. They’re printing proportionally twice as fast as we are, and their national debt is already 2.5 times GDP and growing like mad. Their plan being to devalue the yen so as to make their exports cheaper. John Mauldin thinks this is the opening shot of a currency devaluation war, because Korea, China, Singapore will all jump on that bandwagon to protect themselves. Then Germany, because that’s another economy that lives and dies by exports. The USA should be late to that game, since we can feed ourselves with plenty left over, while none of those countries can.

BTW the Japan crisis has been accelerated by the loss of Fukushima. They’re having to import much more of their energy supply, which is killing their balance of payments. Look for them to go to war if necessary to hang onto those islands that China claims. Oil there.

Only somewhat off topic, Venezuela’s power grid has been falling apart since Chavez took over. Regular rolling blackouts. Today Caracas and several other major cities are total blackout. Our future if the extreme left manages to stay in power for another ten years. Already killing coal plants.

HOW HIGH IS THE HIGH COURT??
      By Derry Brownfield
I became aware of the lack of morals held by the United States
Supreme Court in 1962 when the ruling came down stating it
was illegal to pray in our public schools. The following year
the court made it illegal for public school attendees to read
from the Bible. Then on January 22, 1973 because of the Roe
vs. Wade decision, it became legal to kill unborn children. In
late June of this year the highest court in the land went on a
rampage to continue destroying the morals of this, once God-
fearing nation. First the court ruled that some races are “more”
equal than others. Then the court ruled that the Constitution
contains an invisible clause that says homosexuals have a right
to practice their sexual activities; and lastly, the court destroyed
a state’s right to make laws concerning the amount of time a
state has to bring criminal charges in child sex-abuse cases.
Many of the Internet news services carried stories of protest.
Joseph Farah writing in WorldNetDaily suggested we impeach
the Supreme Court. NewsWithViews carried a story by John
Taft titled Five Supreme Court Thugs Pummel Constitution
and an article by Kevin E. Abrams titled Supreme Court Self
Destructs. Abrams states “rather than interpreting the Ameri-
can Constitution, the Supreme Court has effectively under-
mined and suspended the Constitution and the moral principles
which have guided the American Ship of State since her incep-
tion. The Supreme Court is no longer in honor, but dishonor
and shame. There is a “sacramental” component to human
sexuality; and homoerotic sexual conduct by nature is back-
wards and up-side-down. The militant “gay” movement will
soon reveal their true motives wherein all those Americans who
stand for truth; justice and moral righteousness will become
their targets. The top has been mostly corrupted. Only the
masses of American people who still believe in America and
the principles for which the Constitutional Republic stands can
save the day. Essentially, there is no more United States Su-
preme Court, only We the People.”
Joseph Farah calls the court “political activists in black robes
who actively taunt the American people. An out of control,
renegade court that sticks its thumb in the eye of the people,
daring us to act against this unaccountable ruling elite.” Farah
goes on to say, “Americans need to understand the Supreme
Court does not have unlimited authority to strike down laws it
doesn’t like. Americans need to prepare a response. All serv-
ing federal officials are subject to impeachment proceedings –
even the Supreme Court Justices. These people have to
go. It’s time to challenge the authority of the majority
      with an impeachment movement.”
Woodrow Wilson said, “The war between the states estab-
lished this principle, that the federal government is,
through its courts, the final judge of its own powers.”
Thomas Jefferson said, “If the federal government were
ever to become the sole judge of the limits of its own pow-
ers through its own courts, then there would eventually be
no limits to those powers and the Constitution would ef-
      fectively become a dead letter.

The Constitution does not say to separate state and religion. All it says is that the Congress shall not by law create an established religion.

England had an established religion. If you were not Church of England, you could not vote, own weapons, work in the Government, be an army or navy officer, etc., etc.

THAT is what establishment of religion means.

What we are getting now is the establishment of The Church of There Is No God. In direct contravention to what the Constitution says. It’s beginning to look here like it did in 17th century Europe, where people were burned at the stake for being Anabaptists.
We don’t burn at the stake anymore, but we do drive people out of business because their religious scruples keep them from taking renting to homosexuals in the other half of the duplex they live in, or funding abortions, or photographing gay weddings, or-or-or. A persecution of religion that is AOK as far as the SCOTUS is concerned.

Just wait until Islam tales over. Then you’ll find out what “established religion” means.

Facebook Page; Most of the “eaters” will kill each other off. As a group, they’ll be looking for food and fuel – and they’ll look at sources close to home at first, just like in Watts. As they find less and less to appropriate from their neighbors they’ll expand the search area into the suburbs.
There they’ll find better pickin’s but more resistance and their numbers will be reduced. Eventually they’ll be reduced to a small enough force that they’ll be in no condition to move from the suburbs to the surrounding countryside. At that point they’ll either become civilized enough to be accepted as neighbors or summarily wiped out by the friends and relatives of those they’ve already killed.
That won’t be the end of the fighting though. At some point the government will step in and try to set up shop. By that time very few of the survivors will be interested in what some idiot in D.C. has to say. Martial law will be declared, some foreign army will be brought in and then TSWHTF!

The economy will not collapse for some basic reasons. The first is the vast quantity of money printing going on across the world, the second is technology, and the speed at which the markets can respond and adjust to demand, and the third is market manipulation – it is epic and means all prices etc. are directly manipulated back in line whenever they get out of whack.

We are in a super cycle being driven by more and more of the world’s population gaining greater economic freedom and access to products and services. This will keep demand up, just maybe not in the US. In fact, the US can go down the crapper and the world will still prosper (all the manufacturing and innovation will take place in China over this next decade and the US is no longer needed). The US may have a future as a dystopic theme park – ‘Looney Land’, or ‘Cracker with a Gun Land’, or “Gang-banger Ville’ – but not as a manufacturing and innovation centre.

My wife is ok with me prepping but she would rather spend money on stupid shit and I want to spent it on the stuff we might need. Its still very new to her but its hard to get her to see whats coming. She struggles real bad with anxiety so she doesn’t want to think about a shtf scenario but sometimes I want to talk about different things we can do and I want her to know what to do if I am not around. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My prepping started out as my boyfriends hobby in which he could be successful. We had a 5 day power outrage and four children to feed. We bought a camping stove, extra can openers, some extra canned food. We wouldn’t be in the same position. Then I started really researching reality and woke up screaming. my life has never been the same. I will always be able to provide for my children or die to protect them. We will not be stranded on a rooftop begging for help. Every month that goes by gives me the opportunity to store food for three months. He now says it’s enough. My mantra is, it’s never enough. it has given me such freedom and peace that I don’t stress that my company can hire someone cheaper to do my job. I’m happy at work, happy at home, and spend ever spare moment prepping, or sharing articles such as this site trying to weaken those that I care about and building relationships with like minded folks. Because I believe in plurality and withdrawing consent. That link that satori shared a few days ago was amazing.

A lot of us are experiencing those circumstances. It does not deter me from doing what I do. I am a Christian, read the Bible daily, pray, attend church, watch my favorite preachers on TV (on another TV), etc. My husband does not do these things and tells me I am preaching when I speak of these things.
Do I stop because he is not on the same page? NO!
Same with prepping. I prep, he frowns and tells me I have gone overboard. Do I stop? NO!
Follow your own heart. I don’t stop being a Christian because he is not and I don’t stop prepping because he finds it foolish. Should we have a true SHTF crisis he will take full credit I am sure.
This subject would be like discussing the Bible. There are just too many remarks people would make and disagree on that we would go full circle.
If you feel good about being prepared, then go for it.

My husband is a hard worker, and agrees about most things and knows how to do so many different things so well, so I can let him follow his heart also. His strength is my weakness and vice versa. We hold each other up.

I should write a blog post, rather than take up the page with my responses :) It takes time for some to wake up. I woke up in 2003, my husband, just a couple years back. You could start with asking her to watch some black Friday videos, then ask her what she would do if there was no food, and if she had to fight like that for a can of soup. I understand having anxiety attacks, they are awful, but I somehow force myself to see the reality. To be honest, I’ll be scared to death if something happens, but then I’ll see I’m prepped and that will give me strength.

All I can say is, expose things to her in small doses. Be patient. Make a compromise, that if she can buy this stupid shit, then you get to buy something for prepping? Good luck :)

      HOW TO CONTEND WITH
      IMMIGRATION
      1. The US will apologize to the world for our
“interference” in their affairs, past & present. You know,
Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo, Marshal, Petain, and the rest of
them good ole boys. We will never “interfere” again.
      2. We will withdraw our troops from all over the world,
starting with Germany, France, South Korea and the
Philippines. They don’t want us there. We would station
troops at our borders. No more sneaking through the
      holes in the fence.
      3. All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs to-
gether and leave. We’ll give them a free trip home. After
90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported
immediately, regardless of who or where they are. France
      would welcome them.
      4. All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited
to 90 days in America unless given a special permit.
No one from a terrorist nation would be allowed in. If
you don’t like it there, change it yourself, don’t hide here,
asylum would not ever be available to anyone. We don’t
      need any more cab drivers.
      5. No “students” over age 21. The older ones are the
bombers. If they don’t attend classes, they get an “F” and
      its back home, baby.
      6. The US will make a strong effort to become self-
sufficient energy wise. This will include developing non-
polluting sources of energy but will require temporary
drilling for oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou
will have to cope for a while.
      7. Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries
$10 a barrel for their oil. If they don’t like it, we go
      someplace else.
      8. If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the
world, we will not “interfere.” They can pray to Allah or
whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need.
Besides, most of what we give them is stolen or given to
the army. The people who need it most get very little, if
      any, anyway.
      9. Ship the UN Headquarters to an island some place.
We don’t need the spies and fair weather friends here.
Besides, it would make a good homeless shelter or lockup
      for illegal aliens.
      10. All Americans must go to charm and beauty school.
That way, no one can call us “Ugly Americans” any longer.

People keep comparing the impending doom of this stock market crash to the 1930′s…and they couldn’t be more wrong. In the 1930′s there were still a lot of farmers and people who knew how to care for themselves (and others)albeit almost to the point of utter starvation and desolation. The coming crash will look nothing like the one in the 1930′s…it will be orders of magnitudes worse. Why you ask?

-People today are NOT self reliant or strong willed…much the opposite. Weak AND pathetic.

-The world as a whole was not as heavily invested in the dollar standard as they are today. Even though some countries are jumping ship fast the water will take the ship down with them in one big swirling swoosh.

-There are over 7 BILLION people on the planet now. Back in 1930 there were approx. 2,073,363,421. That’s a lot more mouths to feed. All with less water and farmland to boot. I can show you the USGS data if you want.

-In 1930 most people lived simple, straightforward lives. Most people today cannot function without cell phones, Xbox, Giant screen TV’s and other electronic leashes.

-The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 was alive and well in 1930. Today it is past ripe and bloated beyond imagination.

-Technology has expanded in leaps and bounds since 1930. Mankind’s humanity however, has gone quite the other direction in leaps and bounds.

-Over HALF the U.S. population alone is dependent on Government assistance or handouts of one form or another. Some (or most)of these are people who largely contribute notta to the U.S. GDP or life itself…they simply exist to exist.

-The U.S.(and global)police state is alive and well beyond anything that Stalin, Hitler or Mao ever dreamed of.

I could type for 50 more minutes and not even run out of examples without repeating…but I have work to do yet.

So…all you who keep comparing apples and oranges are in for a very rude awakening. This is going to be hell on earth and it is way overdue.

I agree: the population is of a lower quality in the Western countries today than 60 years ago. Today’s western population is, in the main, a population of bed-wetters, whiners, whingers, brain-dead welfare thugs and scum, and yuppie fairies. But this is not the case in the developing world. People in those countries are fighters and have to fight hard every day to survive. These are the people who will make the weather for the global economy. And they want a life just like they see in magazines and will fight hard for that.

So, the best way to think about this is like this: a boxing ring with, in the left corner, Jim-the-Limp-wristed-pot-bellied-whiner versus, in the right corner, Wang-the-country-peasant-who-made-his-first-million-by-the-age-of-25.

        Much different, yes.

Farming is no longer listed as an occupation in the census. It is now lumped in with “all other”.

This is less than 1% of current occupations. These are the guys that feed us and some of the world.

This is only possible through cheap and plentiful petroleum products for fertilizer, pesticides, combines and tractors, plastic packaging and reefer trucking.

When the fracking bubble pops in a few years, this supply line will break. Many will starve and chaos will reign. We need to learn to supply our own food locally with small communities and tribes.

        1935: 6.8 million farms…127 million people.

        2007: 2.2 million farms…313 million people.

Not exactly. The tax system is regressive against Americans. This drives demand for the rest of the world. If American people do like [formerly] American companies and expatriate their incomes then the USG and FRB pop. Bitcoin is still new, but portends the move ex-USA. When your AC repairman starts to take his payment in butcoins (or some other money not loaded with the anti-American tax system), then you know the game is up for the USG and FRB.
Not sure if you’ll get what I’m saying. Let me make it clear. USA is world police. But only the neighbors in the USA are paying the tax to pay that police force. This is repeated repeatedly. China does not excel because of quality or innovation: simply cheaper. If Chinese had to pay for the USG and FRB loads which are loaded on the American back, then China would fade away on the world scene.
China et al trying to jump the dollar might backfire. Without the ability to tax the world’s engine (Americans) then who will pay for the world police? nobody?

          Horatius

          Then out spake brave Horatius
          The Captain of the Gate:
“To every man upon this earth
          Death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better
          Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his Gods.

          And when above the surges
          They saw his crest appear,
All Rome sent forth a rapturous cry,
And even the ranks of Tuscany
          Could scarce forebear to cheer.

          With weeping and with laughter
          Still is the story told,
How well Horatius kept the bridge
In the brave days of old.

This is totally off topic but I just had to share this with you. If only we were really rich we could have a bunker just like this one. Courtesy of J.R. over at survivalblog. On the surface it looks like an ordinary cabin in the mountains but underneath is a bunker made from an old silo. Incredible! I would just love, love, love to have this! http://www.viralnova.com/apocalypse-house/

If I had that kind of money, I’d build something a little smaller where I’m at.

Alrighty. Going to get a few “thumbs down” with this one but what the hell –

I have my preps in place, actually in several places. I can bug-in or bug-out. I am well stocked for up to a year of 100% off the grid living. I have food, weapons, ammo, solar, gas, water, books and games, sharp sticks, you name it. And now that I have all this in place, I am stepping away and bellying up to the trough of plenty.

I am going on a spending spree. Buying nice, expensive clothing, eating out at the most luxurious restaurants, travel, maybe even buy a second vehicle. Something that goes 0-60 in less than 5 seconds.

Any why would I do this? Because I f**king can. I want to spend my money while it is still worth something. I want to have lived the high life that my salary allows for before that is not possible anymore.

F**k the poor, the meek, the weak, the ignorant feeding and breeding masses. There has been and will ALWAYS be these kind of people. I was born poor and have made MYSELF into what I am today: Educated, upper middle class, healthy, well-traveled and successful. I care not for those not capable of lifting themselves out of the circumstances of their birth.

They will be crushed under the boot heel of history and I say good riddance. The weak will perish. ALWAYS.

What car you looking at, just curious, i like the new Audi wagon, i know, a mom car, they are bad ass though, and fast.
My dream wheels would be a brand new Unimog, 4door, those things will run forever, flashy cars are nice but i learned my lesson a long time ago that i need a car i can run off the road and not wreck it! So the mog from Mercedes is where its at for this farmer.

Best post today! I totally agree: had most of my preps in place by 2008 as I saw the writing on the wall around 2005. Did nicely out of the collapse in 2007/2008 and have been riding high since. But, yes, since the preps are already in place and have been for some time, I took the decision to spend well with a portion of the existing wealth while it still can get something.

So, it is eat well, travel, dress well and not look like the burned out slobs I see around me, help family and friends and generally enjoy life. Was surfing last week and just enjoying the babes on the beach. Did let a flash of image come into my head of some sad sack on SNAP shivering on the streets of Detroit and how they are trapped in the hell that is modern urban America, but then this babe just decided to sunbath topless. Oh, well.

    45. The Electronic Privacy Information Center reports that the court just granted the government more time to decide whether to release the kill switch plan. It now has until January 13.

This month, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia ruled that the Department of Homeland Security must make its plan to shut off the internet and cellphone communications available to the American public. You, of course, may now be thinking: What plan?!

The MSM has gone beyond propaganda. They have been engaged in “indoctrination” now for some time. Don’t help them make a living. Refuse to be interviewed on any topic. The weather, sports, prepping or politics. Screw them. And when the shtf, remember them in your actions.

Earlier I posted that a currency problem could cause the market a big problem. Just read that the Chinese Yuan has passed up the Euro as the number 2 currency used in trade. Second only to the US dollar and gaining. Reserve currency and petro dollar status are key to wether or not this country goes on for much longer.

The Chinese are going for it: they know you don’t offer a helping hand to a rival and enemy when they are down on the ground, you grab a dagger and ram into their throat. America is broke, exhausted, riven with conflict, getting stupider by the day – its infrastructure is falling apart so significantly, it can’t even maintain its advantage in the things like communications and hi-tech.

2015 is the big deadline when the yuan goes fully into global convertibility and becomes a true global trade currency. That is the hammer drop: the dollar will collapse and be relegated to secondary status along the lines of the British pound.
