Complexity Theorists Predict Food Crisis, Riots and Civil Unrest By April 2013

Forecasting isn’t an exact science, but researches at the New England Complex Systems Institute may have come up with a formulaic approach that can help them to identify risk factors that contribute to political instability which may lead to riots and civil unrest similar to what we saw in the Middle East this year.

Their model is so accurate that they reportedly wrote a letter to the United States warning of imminent danger just days before the mid east and north African riots broke out:

On 13 December last year, the group wrote to the US government pointing out that global food prices were about to cross the threshold they had identified. Four days later, Mohamed Bouazizi set himself on fire in Tunisia in protest at government policies, an event that triggered a wave of social unrest that continues to spread throughout the middle east today. (source)

Using advanced complexity theory the researchers have come up with a number of indicators that can predict when a population reaches its breaking point. Specific details and assessments are provided in The Food Crises and Political Instability in North Africa and the Middle East [pdf]:

When the ability of the political system to provide security for the population breaks down, popular support disappears. Conditions of widespread threat to security are particularly present when food is inaccessible to the population at large. In this case, the underlying reason for support of the system is eliminated, and at the same time there is “nothing tolose,” i.e. even the threat of death does not deter actions that are taken in opposition to the political order. Any incident then triggers death-defying protests and other actions that disrupt the existing order.

Widespread and extreme actions that jeopardize the leadership of the political system, or the political system itself, take place. All support for the system and allowance for its failings are lost. The loss of support occurs even if the political system is not directly responsible for the food security failure, as is the case if the primary responsibilitylies in the global food supply system.

The following chart provides a visual guide:

Chart Explained: Time dependence of FAO Food Price Index from January 2004 to May 2011. Red dashed vertical lines correspond to beginning dates of “food riots” and protests associated with the major recent unrest in North Africa and the Middle East. The overall death toll is reported in parentheses. Blue vertical line indicates the date, December 13, 2010, on which we submitted a report tothe U.S. government, warning of the link between food prices, social unrest and political instability. Inset shows FAO Food Price Index from 1990 to 2011.

The group, led by researcher Marco Lagi, is now warning that their thresholds are about to be broken again. And, this time the implications may be much more serious than before:

The underlying trend of increasing prices will reach the threshold of instability in July 2012, if we consider current prices, and April 2013 if we correct prices for reported ination. Either way, the amount of time until the often warned global food crises appears to be very short. Indeed, consistent with our analysis, the current food price bubble is already subjecting large populations to reported distress, as described in a recent UN report warning of the growing crisis.

We identify a speci c food price threshold above which protests become likely. These observations suggest that protests may reect not only long-standing political failings of governments, but also the sudden desperate straits of vulnerable populations. If food prices remain high, there is likely to be persistent and increasing global social disruption. Underlying the food price peaks we also fi nd an ongoing trend of increasing prices. We extrapolate these trends and identify a crossing point to the domain of high impacts, even without price peaks, in 2012-2013. This implies that avoiding global food crises and associated social unrest requires rapid and concerted action.

It’s clear that Lagi and his colleagues have done the work, and their data make sense, especially given what we’ve seen geo-politically over the last year. Given the way government has thus far attempted to mitigate this economic crisis – which is to make it worse – we are pessimistic about their ability to stop the rising food price trend, and the loss of confidence that will be sure to follow.

As such, the analysis provided suggests that instability due, in large part, to rising food prices is imminent and we have, at best, twenty months before riots and civil unrest come to the streets of America.

Now would be a good time to speed up your SHTF Plans.

This report is just a third-party verification of what the government already knows. Why else would there be so much money invested in Fema camps and Fusion Centers? It’s alright though, if Barry is on vacation again everything is under control, bitchez!!!

When rioting does occur, more than likely it will do so in the large metro areas. Whether it spreads beyond those boundries of course depend on the severity and desperation. That will give some uprepared folks a lttle in your face are you ready heads up. As for me, I hope I’m prepared as well as can be. Well duh! What do you think happens when you turn food into fuel and push the “green” agenda to the point of stupidity! I think if the idiots thinking that they can control what’s coming soon manage it as well as the economy, it will be by December for the beginning of the shtf! Part of my navy job was to predict and plan for operations of a nuke carrier and the training carries over.
What I see coming is not good for anyone let alone us little people just getting by and trying to raise a family. Food, cotton goods, etc are going to be 4 to 5 times more expensive by December so buy it now. But on a good note used bang bangs are getting cheaper as more people sell stuff to pay bills.

I agree that used firearms are becoming a great deal. I visit several pawn shops in a couple of the larger cities here in the west, and the past couple of months I have bought 4 different rifles and shotguns for 1/3-1/2 their new retail prices. Remington 870 3″ mag “Wingmaster”s with extra chokes and wrench in excellent+ condition for $200 with case. Browning 7mm mag bolt action deluxe stock for $280 with sling and scope mounts. Like new, Marlin 880SS .22LR, sling, and 3-9x32mm stainless style scope for $109. And what appears to be an unfired Winchester 1300XTR 12ga, 3″ mag, 3 chokes and wrench, Redhead semi-hard duck hunting floating case with internal soft case all for $219.

I am making a special trip back to one of these large cities next weekend, as they hard some other great buys pending September 1 date on the tags. Prices drop a further 25% on several after that date.

I asked the store manager why the large price drops from a few months ago, and he stated their chain had been flooded with weapons pawned for cash and the owners did not return. They were slashing prices due to lack of sales, heavily over stocked and need for cash flow. What a deal! I wish they would carry handguns, but their policy does not allow it.

In preping the last 2 years we’ve come up with a simple guideline to buying foods to stock heavily on. “Just add water, and it tastes better than dirt” Rice, beans, oatmeal, instant potatoes, etc. Most are inexpensive and can be purchased in bulk even for those on limited $$$.Example for the average cost of 2 MREs you can buy 50 lbs of rice at Sam’s club. Good luck to ya and by all means get busy with the time that’s left!

Just came from Walmart, recently turned into a Super walmart. I did a doubletake when I passed an isle where it was 1/4 of sealed 30 yr food storage. Just the basics mind you, but large buckets of red wheat, and sealed #10 cans of milk, potatos, dried fruit, veges, etc. It was surreal. Only because I’m used to the masses ignoring, (and all others there at the time were, I was the only one grabbing) but to see that at Walmart, I don’t know…it was a strange moment. Maybe it’s just me. I told my friend, “Something is coming. And this is societies last chance to get a clue. If they ignore this…” Big shrug.
On a happy note, I got powdered honey. I don’t know why that makes me so tickled happy, but it does. It was like Christmas!

I went to BJs yesterday and bought canned vegetables that are good until 2014… 8pk/$5.49 and 6-8 pks of pasta for the same price and same expiration. I also plan on trying to find farina & oatmeal single paks in bulk because it’s just my daughter and I. I’m afraid of bugs or it spoiling faster than it should because of the humidity. I might spend a little more but it’s probably worth it because we won’t waste it. I also want to pick up some powdered milk, rice, sugar and cereal so at least I know we are set. I have plenty of water and about 6 months of emergency food storage from foodinsurance.com but I don’t want to use that unless the s REALLY htf!!!
          Good luck everyone!!!

Some staples I buy in bulk and put in mylar bags but powdered eggs, powdered butter and freeze dried meat and veggies we get there. Even just a few items can help you expand your meal selection. How wants to eat rice and beans every day? I can bake my own bread and now I have butter too, yum!!

Good advise. MREs are good for the early days of chaos, but waaay too expensive for extended use. Bulk grain gives a lot of bang for the buck. Around here, one of these bags of rice costs $15.95 right now. Total cost of storage in mylar bags and buckets is around $25. May be able to skip the Mylar because extended storage may well not be a concern.

Randy: Americans are paying “real world prices for everything” now, as prices are typically pegged to the USD.

What you mean is that Americans are going to have to pay more of their income for everything as the dollar loses purchasing power for US.

That will happen, is happening now, anyway, so the dollar need not lose its reserve status for that. Nor will it.

Did I miss something ? Is there a country specific analysis charting the same price / reaction points in the US / Canada ? Even if the analysis model is correct; the data points ( reaction points ) would be different for each country / region based upon local resources, wealth and overall depth of economic activity. I did not see any data which specifically analyzed US based economic / reaction point data; so it seems a stretch to conclude that the results apply specifically to the US.. what did I miss in the report ?

The problem with Africa and the ME I believe is that they as a whole are flooded with cheap American grains. When it costs a shop keeper less to buy food imported from Texas (including the shipping costs and our way of doing business, futures contracts etc.) what do you think the shopkeep and thus, the people are going to buy?

When this happens it stifles local food production. The only people farming are subsistence farmers and the only commercial operations are in South Africa (not for long considering all the Boers getting murdered) and, surprisingly Egypt due to 7000 years of irrigation there.

But again, it stifles local production. Now, what are all those American crops doing to the population? That’s right: keeping it artificially high, higher than what the land can support anyway. You’re looking at what’s happening to Somalia, a country of 10 million which can support organically maybe a quarter of that. What happens when the external food supply gets cut off, most likely due to fluctuations in market prices? That’s right: death and population movements. We often think these things are due to droughts or floods, but they are not the real problem, though combined they enhance the problem.

But it’s not just Somalia, it’s all of them. And what happens when the oil income runs out for the ME and the population is artificially 20x what the land can support; or in Africa which has been relying on aid and which has become increasingly urban (read shantytown) over the past two decades.

It’s not just them, it’s the US too. There’s something to say for the Malthusian argument.

There may well be a similar period of “preparation” to get the remaining corp citizens to enlist and fight the corps final war. Only in this case, the US is the enemy that will fall and the corp alone will be there to pick up the pieces.

Nobody really knows what is going to happen. It just will, and you will survive it or die. The when and the why will only be known by the future generations, if at all.

Given the support the corp still has, even after it’s monumental fraud and theft has been brought into the light, those future generations will not know freedom and the corps crimes will be untold.

Last week I found myself steering these two young ladies away from the so-called ‘minute’ rice in aisle #4 over to the ‘regular’ long grain enriched rice. I also did a quick rendition of my “how to cook rice 101″ for them. They confessed that they weren’t “big rice eaters” but that they figured that they had better get used to it now.

That lady staring intently at the package of round steak over in the meat section is busy making an ‘executive-level-decision’ for her family; “Do I splurge on the round steak or grab the cheaper package of hamburger?”

Do you know how to cook rice and dried beans? I mean, do you know how to prepare them so that your family will enjoy them and not object to eating them? Better get that one worked out for yourself before much more time goes by. Much of Central and South America gets by on a diet consisting of primarily rice and red beans.

I use tomatoes added in on day 2 and some tomato sauce to make a healthy stew. I just finished college in December (at 38) and have been living on a food bill of less than 300 dollars. Add in deer roast or pheasant for added variety.

        China and Russia Strike

        Dumitru Duduman – April 22, 1996

I prayed. then went to bed. I was still awake, when suddenly I heard a trumpet sound. A voice cried out to me, “Stand!”

In my vision, I was in America. I walked out out of home, and began to look for the one who had spoken to me. As I looked, I saw three men dressed alike. Two of the men carried weapons. One of the armed men came to me. “I woke you to show you what is to come,” he said. “Come with me.”

I didn’t know where I was being taken, but when we reached a certain place he said, “Stop here!”
A pair of binoculars was handed to me, and I was told to look through them.

“Stand there, don’t move, and look,” he continued. “You will see what they are saying, and what they are preparing for America.”

As I was looking, I saw a great light. A dark cloud appeared over it. I saw the president of Russia, a short, chubby man, who said he was the president of China, and two others. the last two also said where they were from, but I did not understand. However, I gathered they were part of Russian controlled territory. The men stepped out of the cloud.

The Russian president began to speak to the Chinese one. “I will give you the land with all the people, but you must free Taiwan of the Americans. Do not fear, we will attack them from behind.”

A voice said to me, “Watch where the Russians penetrate America.” Then I saw these words being written: Alaska, Minnesota, Florida.

Then the man spoke again,” When America goes to war with China, the Russians will strike without warning.”

The other two presidents spoke, “We, too, will fight for you.” Each had a place already planned as a point of attack. All of them shook hands and hugged. Then they all signed a contract.

One of them said, “We’re sure that Korea and Cuba will be on our side, too. Without a doubt, together, we can destroy America.”

The president of Russia began to speak insistently, “Why let ourselves be led by the Americans? Why not rule the world ourselves? They have to be kicked out of Europe, too! Then I could do as I please with Europe!”

The man standing beside me said, “This is what you saw: they act as friends, and say they respect the treaties made together. But everything I’ve shown you is how it will REALLY happen. You must tell them what is being planned against America. Then, when it comes to pass, the people will remember the words the Lord has spoken.”

        “Who are you?” I asked.
“I am the protector of America. America’s sin has reached God. He will allow this destruction, for He can no longer stand such wickedness. God, however, still has people that worship Him with a clean heart as they do His work. He has prepared a heavenly army to save these people.”

As I looked, a great army, well armed and dressed in white, appeared before me. “Do you see that?” the man asked. “This army will go to battle to save My chosen ones. Then, the difference between the Godly and the ungodly will be evident.

          http://www.unitedstatesprophecy.com/Russia_Invades_America.html

          ……………………….
As I looked down to the ground I saw Staten Island, Manhattan Island and New York City. I could not believe that these missiles were getting ready to hit New York with such a magnitude. They were coming right down onto the state of New York. The next thing I knew, I was standing down on the ground looking at all of the devastation. All the buildings were totally annihilated. The big skyscrapers had fallen over as though a domino effect had happened when they were blown up. When they started falling, these skyscrapers fell one against another knocking each other down. There were dead bodies lying everywhere. Tens of thousands were dead and the air smelled of rotting, burning flesh. Not only did the air smell foul but as I looked everything was dark even though it was midday. I could not believe my eyes!

I then sensed time had passed, weeks and months. God then let me see little children taking instruments like butter knives and scraping the corpses of the people that had died. The children were looking for food by scraping the flesh off the people’s bodies only to cause their own death later of radiation poisoning. The devastation was beyond anything of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The death and the disease that broke out after was beyond imagination. I could not believe what I was seeing. I was overwhelmed and sickened by the devastation. I asked God why He showed me this? He said He is going to judge the United States and He’s going to judge it hard. He said that the enemies of the United States are going to attack………………………

Scenario 1–The SHTF and we suffer total economic collapse in the West. Political upheaval and social unrest ensue. Total structural breakdown. Law enforcement and military abandon posts rather than kill citizens. Flee with families. Every man for himself in the ultimate TEOTWAWKI scenario.

Scenario 2–The West finds a way to cope with its sovereign debt crisis. Markets stabalize generally, even if they suffer swings here and there. 15% unemployment continues or worsens. Eventually, the politicians and bankers get it and institute laws and policies that promote free enterprise and growth. By 2025, the West is out of crisis mode and enters a true recovery.

Scenario 3–The economic breakdown worsens, but we avoid total collapse. The next 15-20 years are lost to 25% unemployment. A variety of governments over these years tweak law and policy, but the situation worsens. Enough people have jobs that there is no total collapse of the political and social orders. Governments remain the means to control the populace. Law enforcement and the military are used widely to quell disturbances and prevent manic rioting. Possible martial law. Possible FEMA herding. We emerge in 2025 with totalitarian government.

In the true SHTF/TEOTWAWKI reality, only two possible outcomes–total chaos/anarchy or totalitarian tyranny. My bet is on a short period of the former followed rapidly by the latter. But I pray that scenario 2 is the one that plays out. It is the best we could hope for at this point.

Devaluation of the Dollar and Hyperinflation

        Amos Scaggs – 3/19/09

I dreamt I went up to the cash register to pay for an item. When I pulled out my money to pay, the dollar had devaluated by hundreds of dollars (Note from David: The dollar became valued at hundredths of its former value. Hundreds of dollars would be worth less than a dollar.) I had several hundred dollars in my hand to pay for a $60 item, but that wasn’t enough. By the time I was quoted the price and was in the process of paying, the dollar lost its value by hundreds. (I had another, different card that would purchase the item.) Then after that it was the barter system.

A day’s wage for a loaf of bread is coming to our doorstep.

*Berlin – December 1918 bread was 0.5 Marks; November 1923 bread was 201,000,000,000 Marks

*One egg in 1913 was 0.08 Mark; November 1923 one egg was 80,000,000,000 Marks

*One pair of shoes in 1913 was 12.00 Marks; November of 1923 shoes were 32,000,000,000,000 Marks

One man said: I dropped into a cafe to have a coffee. As I went in I noticed the price was 5000 marks – just about what I had in my pocket. I sat down, read my paper, drank my coffee, and spent altogether about one hour in the cafe, and then asked for the bill. The waiter duly presented me with a bill for 8000 marks. “Why 8000 marks?” I asked. The mark had dropped in the meantime, I was told. So I gave the waiter all the money I had, and he was generous enough to leave it at that. –The memories of a German writer

One of the causes of the inflation was Germany printed more and more money to pay off war debts.

Does that sound familiar? We call it stimulus and buybacks.

        Gold and Silver Woes?

        11/17/10

We received two dreams around the same time, both unknown to one another, both about the economy, both about precious metals and both about a performance. God is speaking and confirming this revelation.

        Silver Hits the Floor
        April Selenskikh – 11/02/10
(David’s notes in red)<- In parentheses in black and white.

I am observing a class and sitting in the back row of the auditorium. The teacher is sitting near me and watching me. She is Indian. First I think it is a German class and hear German language being spoken. Next they are speaking French.

I say to the teacher, “Oh, I speak some French." She says that I will probably go on stage soon, but I won't be speaking French. (A stage is for a play, as in not real or factual. Could it mean a fake economy that is for show?)

I had a few silver bracelets on my left arm that fell and hit the floor. I drop to the floor, losing all dignity and began to crawl on the floor, looking to recover the silver.

When the bracelets hit the floor they become a large pile of thinner silver bracelets, much larger around than what had been on my arm. There was a pile to my left and some a few rows in front of me. (The thinner silver could mean it is leaner and less valuable.)

The teacher was looking at me with shock to see me crawling on the floor, under the seats, in a very undignified manner. I recovered most of the silver, but left some of the silver on the ground in front for some of the other people in the class to take. (Will other nations make off with American silver?)

It appears Germany and France will be on the world stage with some economic difficulty and then America’s turn will come. Silver falling to the floor and becoming thinner or leaner sounds like what no one suspects. The web bots' analyst Clif High predicted a plot would become known to confiscate precious metals and it would precipitate riots and a market collapse. The Lord did say that if we stored up treasures for ourselves the thieves would get it.

        My interpretation/speculation:

I am American and believe that I represent America in this dream. I am watching some events from afar. Something happens to Germany, then France. Another idea is the way Germany was overtaken by the Nazis/fascism and then France.

(India watching the G20 conference … BRIC?)

I believe the silver hitting the floor is an economic crash that grows bigger as it hits the bottom. America loses all dignity in the eyes of the watching world, trying to recover.

        Gold Burning
        Gideon Smith – 11/13/10
        (David’s notes in red)

In this dream, my wife and I were walking outside on a bright and sunny day. Then I looked in the air and saw a very large, grey U.S. military transport aircraft. I then noticed that its flying maneuvers were very strange. It appeared to be zipping around, doing front and back flips and other odd movements that should be impossible for a plane that size to perform. (Sounds just like our economy.)

Then my eyes seemed to be able to zoom in on the plane and I noticed it was not the kind of plane I thought it was from far away. It actually did not look like any plane I've seen before. (On close inspection, it is not a normal economy; nothing we have ever seen before.) Then, as my eyes zoomed out, it appeared to be the same large U.S. military transport plane.

Then, as it was going in its circular motion, it began to move faster and faster and then it began to descend very fast toward the ground and it crashed, and when it hit the ground there was a gigantic explosion. I mean huge and a very large plume of fire rose to the sky and there was great fear. When I saw the explosion, I thought to myself, wow, this happened sooner than I expected. (We must be very close to the crash.)

Then I began to run from this large flame that began to erupt from the explosion. As I ran, I saw a vision of an image of this woman's head which looked like it was made of gold and her face and head were burning with flames. Then, as I saw the vision, I understood it to be the Statue of Liberty. (America’s economy will fall very destructively. Even gold will be useless. In the last depression there was a four-day bank holiday, during which they made a law so they could grab the gold. It became useless to individuals or corporations. My guess is woe be unto those who are holding certificates and not gold.)

After seeing this, I began to pray in the spirit, at which point I came out of that vision. Then I opened my eyes and found myself sitting inside of a movie theater, praying loud in the spirit and everyone was looking at me like I was crazy, as if nothing happened. (Movie theaters are for play-acting or fakery, just like this economy. It cannot be trusted and neither can the thieves who run it.) They did not see what I saw; they were getting ready to watch a movie. Then I woke up.

If only the human family was not primary inducers and drivers of this colossal predicament, and therefore principally responsible for it; if only the many too many leaders who understand precisely what it is that we are discussing now here did not willfully deny science and consciously choose silence over speech. That too, would be the best thing.

These researchers have a nice idea, but "the probability that the unrest in North Africa and the Middle East occurred by chance at a period of high food

Trying to forcast anything within a dynamic system usually does not work. These researchers are looking at areas that many would call a tinderbox with a hair trigger, and that alone raises suspicion.
In my assessment of their paper, it is a stretch to make that jump to developed/ weathy nations unless there were to be a catostrophic event that shuts off the welfare bennies for the government moochers as well as many other factors. It is a good idea, just not solid enough.

          http://www.jpost.com/Israel/Article.aspx?id=63137

Rabbis Yitzhak Ginzburg and Yaakov Yosef endorse Rabbi Yitzhak Shapiro’s 2009 book endorsing the killing of babies and children, adding “It is permissable to kill the Righteous among Nations even if they are not responsible for [threatening Israel]. If we kill a Gentile who has sinned or has violated one of the seven commandments – because we care about the commandments – there is nothing wrong with the murder.”

“Who is funding the rabbis who endorse killing Gentile babies?” By Akiva Eldar, Ha’aretz, 11/17/09
“…For example, [Israel’s] government ministries regularly transfer support and funding to a yeshiva whose rabbi determined that it is permissible to kill gentile babies “because their presence assists murder, and there is reason to harm children if it is clear that they will grow up to harm us … it is permissible to harm the children of a leader in order to stop him from acting evilly … we have seen in the Halakha that even babies of gentiles who do not violate the seven Noahide laws, there is cause to kill them because of the future threat that will be caused if they are raised to be wicked people like their parents….”
          http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1128767.html

“…’living soul’ designates Israel because they are children of the Almighty, and their souls, which are holy, come from Him. From whence come the souls of other peoples? R[abbi] Eleazar said: ‘They obtain souls from those sides of the left which convey impurity, and therefore they are all impure and defile those who have contact with them.’…’living soul’ refers to Israel, who have holy living souls from above, and ‘cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth,’ to the other peoples who are not ‘living soul,” but who are as we have said.” Bereshith 47a

“Gentile souls are of a completely different and inferior order. They are totally evil, with no redeeming qualities whatsoever… their material abundance derives from supernal refuse. Indeed, they themselves derive from refuse, which is why they are more numerous than the Jews…” Abraham Foxbrunner. Habad: The Hasidism of Schneur Zalman of Lyady. Oh, population 2000-2500 depending on the season. We agreed that within a week or two of no gov’t money, over 90% will leave. If you were aware how fragile our supply lines are for daily resupply at the local grocery stores, you’d have a stroke. I’ve witnessed the chaos after hurricanes Andrew and Katrina. In Florida, after Andrew, everyone had a gun on their hip. Every gas station clerk was openly armed. One store I went to had a volunteer armed guard in their lot walking people to their cars. The motel I stayed at became a fortress at 10 PM every night. Learn from other peoples experiences or learn from your own the hard way. If the electricity is out for a month, the stores will be closed for at least a month. No gas for a month or more.

Shame on folks for hedging. Those prognosticators need to be more specific; like April 1st, 2012 at 3:05EST.

Come on now. All they can do is tentatively identify a window of probability based upon historical records. Too many variables.

In any system, be it mechanical or econo-political, every attempt to increase efficiency of scale runs into a couple of problems. The point of diminishing returns and increased complexity.

Diminishing returns is increased investment resulting in smaller and smaller increments of profit.

Increased complexity results in more sub-systems to break down or be subject to disruptions due to outside influences such as weather.

Remember the flooding in the mid-west? Now couple that with ag exports to politically sensitive areas deemed in “national interest”. We have a declining economy, increasing food prices, high unemployment, mortgage breakdown and extreme national debt.

Now factor in this tidbit: “The business of America is business. Calvin Coolidge”. It is called tax revenue enhancement. So in order to achieve the highest tax revenues, we were encouraged to enter the global market via production or distribution. Each requires intense regulatory compliance with a minimum of quarterly reports to the gov’t. Every transaction carries a tax bill.

The complexity we gladly accepted to maintain our standard of living has put us in the position of increased vulnerability to disruption in the production and distribution sectors.

Once the stage is set, even a seemingly isolated incident such as the food vendor in Tunisia can ignite a shit-storm. The US has the resources to carry us through. The problem will be allocation and distribution. Do we run with the concept of equitable or maintain our system of economic access. Socialist or capitalist? Depends on whether you are a have or have-not. That food vendor in Tunisia was a have. Small-time, but a have none-the-less.

Our system is currently powered by confidence and little else. One the management loses the confidence of the producers, distributors or consumers, the system faces failure. Please notice I stated, “or” not “and”. The complexity of the world market coupled with international politics is the problem.

There is no viable national alternative to this complexity. At the family level, reduction in complexity is possible only by reducing our easy standard of living. Think the “R”s. Reduce, recyle, re-use and repurpose. Only by increased family labor can we reduce our family’s vulnerability to macro-events.

Life is all about choices. Consider the evidence. Then choose wisely. Luck is fleeting at best; wisdom lasts a lifetime.
      ————————————-
Beans: There is a reason most refuse to cook beans. The rehydration and cooking is heavily influenced by the age of the beans. I am still using 20+ year old beans. Normal cooking procedure fails. However there are options. The best I have found is before the overnight soak, run the beans through a steel bur mill with the burs set about a 1/4 bean apart. DO NOT use a stone bur mill (oil). Then soak overnight. Next day cook them in a pressure cooker no more than 1/3-1/2 full. Any more and get an education in foaming. You have the equivalent of refried beans and it does make good chili or ham and beans.

Been my observation that Americans have become conditioned to starchless rice. Quick rices are washed to extract as much starch as possible from the exterior of the kernel. Ever try to eat quick rice with chop-sticks? Conditioning can be overcome by reconditioning.

To often we forget oats. Old saying about oats. “The British raise fine horses on oats while the Scots raise fine men.” Dehulling is problematic, but once dehulled you can use as is or steam them and run through steel rollers to make rolled oats.

Barley is the most disparaged of the grains. Hulls and no flavor without toasting. That is how you get black barley bread. But most of us love our beer. Barley malt is the key ingredient. “Beer is proof that god loves us. Ben Franklin.”

On an active day, this old man burns between 4500 and 9000 calories a day depending on season; at -20F I really burn the calories. I have found that 4 oz of good protein is all I need to rebuild muscle mass. We have become addicted to massive amounts of protein in our diets and the health effects are openly visible.

Greens are important for vitamins and minerals. All of them dry just fine and can be added to any soup, stew or whatever. It will probably turn the stuff in the pot green, but it is nutritious.

Never forget rose hips as a source of vitamin C. Scurvy kills. The process of making wine does NOT destroy the vitamin C so consider fruit wine making. Jesus did NOT turn the water into soda pop.

Believe what you will, do what you’re gonna do. Ain’t none of it my concern. Work diligently and you will get your just rewards. Cause working folks problems and there is a distinct possibility others will see you as the problem. Lots of folks are adept a problem solving.

Prepper: Checked the link. Its just more PROPAGANDA by the Globalists to encourage US to accept the changes being imposed by the gangster banksters and political elite under a systematic gradualism designed to deny Americans their Constitutional rights under nature’s God and impose a new system of government under a Compact with the UN, IMF, and World Bank; in the name of Star Trek, and a “Galactic Civilization”. How transparent!

        Bullshit.

The Globalist view is rule by a few, for a few, while only a few prosper from the “planetary civilization” of a “Class I” civilization where all of the resources are organized, controlled, and manipulated by the PTB for their benefit under corporate fascism.

A Class I civilization under a globalist perspective would require a serf-socialism for the uneducated with government assistance paid for by the entrepenuers, small business owners, public employees, and technocrats of the middle class, to mitigate social unrest, while corporations would harness the energy of the sun in large facilities and charge US increasing rates for the power.

        Sound familar?

Yes, I see the “green shoots” of a Class I civilization as desired by the globalists, and if left unchecked and unreversed it will destroy the greatest culture of personal liberty, equality, and pursuit of happiness yet devised by man, plummeting him back into a lifetime of serfdom and financial servitude, to the benefit of an elite management / ruling class.

They push “multiculturalism” as a euphanism for race relations, but its not about color; its about culture. That is why multiculturalism doesn’t work. Its about mindset and belief system. It is about the spirit that pervades these people and moves the people of these other cultures, or not.

Americans have a culture that is being invaded, twisted, and corrupted by an alien race, an alien political culture, and a financial system that has been co-opted by the GB’s.

When Patriots renew the American Spirit, re-pose Constitutional reforms to finance and politics and expel invaders from within OUR borders, America will rise again as the nation We have known and loved.

The best chance for a real Class I Civilization to emerge upon this planet is based upon the American Constitution, personal liberty, and financial opportunity for those willing to educate and apply themselves, with low taxes, less regulation, and much much, smaller government.

American Patriots will not kneel before the God of Multiculturalism; Government of, by, and for the United Nations. WE will not accept the dissolution of the US Constitution without Civil War.

On the contrary, WE advise all people of the Earth to adopt a Constitution like OUR own, under Nature’s God, subject only to Him. OUR rights are not derived from any Crown, or Organization. They are unalienable.

WE will not be serfs, subjects, or slaves. We will vote; WE will fight; and WE will die if necessary to preserve the American Way of Life.

The second American Revolution began in Novemeber of 2010. Twelve years from then, you will see a New America rising that will embrace its heritage.

Take care of yourselves and your family.. most everyone reading here is well prepared; but make sure you also have some cash in small bills; get any needed meds no later than tomorrow, today is better. Be certain that you have enough of “whatever” to take care of all necessities for a minimum of 2 weeks. A major flooding event could easily take that long to recede, depending upon topography.

I’m truly concerned about what will come pouring out of inner city hives like Houston, Dallas, Queens, Oakland etc. if food inflation leads to chronic shortages & starvation.

Between the willfully ignorant prozac poppin’ chumps in the burbs and the welfare-dependent, crack-smoking scum festering in the cities…..how many stand-up Americans will be left to contain the chaos that will ensue when the food and fuel runs out?

nine meals to anarchy is a good-enough metaphor to scare anyone who thinks about it….but add loss of power, unclean water, no access to medical care or medicines, no police presence (or an aggressive police presence) and “community activists” taking the law into their own hands and we’re going to see unimaginable carnage in our streets.

I couldn’t imagine a better scenario to drive the American people to flush the shit out of the toilet bowl of corruption that is Washington D.C. and to restart our political process fresh anew…..

We just have to survive through the coming anarchy first….

“I’m truly concerned about what will come pouring out of inner city hives…” Brings to mind a friend’s story of what happened in the late 1960s at a spring flower show in Baltimore. Ladies in old-fashioned long dresses and pretty hats selling flowers in a square, a tradition that went back quite a few years. Beautiful weather, everyone having a great time, couldn’t ask for a better day. And then someone spotted them – an angry sea of about a hundred young blacks shouting and running toward the square. Flower pots thrown to the ground and broken, ladies shoved, customers assaulted. Then the police on horseback arrived, beating the GD savages with billy clubs and arresting dozens. In one violent moment a lovely old tradition died – friend said the flower show was never held again. Said it made him sick with anger and disgust. Us too…

Note what Bouazizi did NOT do: He didn’t riot. He didn’t assassinate anyone. He didn’t hijack a plane.

Human history is full of stories of leaders whose self-sacrifice prompted others to burst their shackles. Why does such self-sacrifice work? Sometimes it’s more important to observe the fact, than it is to explain it. Facts often speak for themselves.

SHTF will happen as soon as Obumma loses the election, because he will play the race card & blame us all for being racists!
As for all who plan to grow their own food, this is a noble task, but a dangerous & inviting thing for the starving swarm from the cities who will be desperate enough to kill to feed their own. May I suggest either hydroponics or aquaponics? You would have more peace of mind growing all your crops safely under a roof [shed or barn] w/o soil, only water & lite.[but with aquaponics it`s water, lite, & fish]
You could diversify [can`t always depend on rain for the crops]. When we go to the groceries we buy extra canned food [lots of times the dates on the cans will have dates up to 2 years down the road] for a separate stash; plus we buy lots of MRE`s [about $1.15 pr meal] while they are still available from E-Foods Direct. [they even have a “stowaway program”– $149 a month f/12 mos. for a year`s worth of chow. When you add water, you wouldn`t know it`s a MRE—it is delicious!
It wouldn`t hurt to buy a Sawyer water filter system for all kinds of water— dirty, muddy, oily, contaminated, etc. Only $90 but guaranteed for life, just backflush it every million gallons of useage. The filtered water comes out crystal-clear & tasty every time.
      Keep your powder dry.

SHTF may happen when the masses figure out the truths such as, it’s a CIA coup d’état and they are being played as big fools, again. Masses fell for GeeW’s WMD Iraq lie… now they are fooled again! Obama is just another deceiver so the media is passing off people and flags of Indian as people and flag of Libya- because Libyans are not fighting, mercenaries are, and none are celebrating NATO’s humanitarian bombing. And wait til all the unemployed, broke and uninsured Americans find out Libyans have free medical care and education; $64K for newlyweds, $1K per person annually, interest free loans for car/home, $7K for every newborn and gas is cheaper than water. Americans get robbed and evicted by banksters, GMO-everything food, oil and poisonous Corexit seafood, doused with chemicals from planes, are spied on and lied to at every turn. Yep, it’s a war on Freedom and People everywhere!

Slowly trying to get prepped(tent foodstuffs and other items).Food $$ rising exponentially even as we speak.I don’t expect a 2012-2014 collapse.I DO believe things will be very much like Russia after the USSR failed.Afghanistan was the graveyard of the USSR.I would be surprised if it isn’t the US’s as well.Yet,things are changing and taking a new direction here, unlike the Russians.People are beginning to look for ways to produce the important stuff here rather than abroad.Oddly, the Feds are trying to use their “muscle” to slow down/prevent just the people and ideas who could best remedy our current severe problems.More than one
“NERO” in Washington it seems. If history is any guide,THE CHANGE will happen. Some if not most will be able to benefit from it.Many Others will probably suffer, commit crimes and even die while trying to maintain their current status quo.As a people,We don’t have much time before it acquires enough momentum to force even those American PTB who oppose it to admit it’s full arrival. This CHANGE is happening on a world wide scale.TPTB world-wide will be unable to stop it no matter if their location is Asia, eastern Europe or the Americas North or South.Being even in a partial “prepped” state is admitting it’s coming. And I may add being prepped is a better than being buried or burying those you love.
I can’t predict the shape of things to come,or when(thought about it sometimes though). My hope is in the Kingdom of J.C. coming.Failing that(it STILL might not be the day or hour),things ARE going to be headed in a new direction for sure.
