50 Shocking Questions That You Should Ask To Anyone That Is Not A Prepper Yet

Share this list of shocking questions with everyone you know that needs to wake up.  Sometimes asking good questions is the best way to get someone that you care about to understand something.  When I attended law school, I became very familiar with something called “the Socratic method”.  It is a method that has been traditionally used in law schools all over the United States.  Law professors will bombard their students with questions, and the goal is to stimulate critical thinking and allow students to discover the answers for themselves.  Many times those of us that can see what is happening to this country get frustrated when we try to get others to see what is so apparent to us.  But instead of preaching to them, perhaps asking questions would be more helpful.  When you ask someone a question, they are almost forced to think about what you just said and come up with a response.  And without a doubt, the fact that America is in decline is undeniable.  Those that would choose to blindly have faith in the system are foolish, because it is glaringly obvious that the system is failing.  Our economy is heading for collapse and the world around us is becoming more unstable with each passing day.  So it shouldn’t be a surprise that the number of preppers in the United States is absolutely exploding.  Some estimates put the number of preppers in the U.S. as high as 3 million, and the movement continues to explode.

So exactly what is a “prepper”?  Well, the truth is that there is a tremendous amount of diversity among the people that fall under that label.

To me, you don’t have to move to Montana and store 500 cases of MREs in a nuclear fallout shelter to be considered a prepper.  I believe that anyone that can see a very serious crisis coming and that is taking steps to prepare for that crisis would be considered a prepper.  You might be living next to one and never even know it.  Many families have converted spare rooms into food pantries or are taking survival training on the weekends.  Others have renewed their interest in gardening or have started to invest in precious metals.  As far as I am concerned, anything that you can do to become more self-sufficient and more independent of the system is a good thing, because the system is rapidly failing.

Perhaps you are reading this and you are thinking that people who are “preparing for disaster” are being rather foolish.  Well, I encourage you to read the list of questions that I have compiled below and come to your own conclusions.

The following are 50 shocking questions that you should ask to anyone that is not a prepper yet…

#1 Why are sales of physical silver coins breaking all sorts of all-time records?  The U.S. Mint is on pace to sell more silver eagles during the first month of 2013 than it did during the entire year of 2007.

#2 Why has Germany announced that it will be moving gold from New York and Paris to its own vaults back home?  Is this a sign of a breakdown in trust among global central banks?

#3 Why is China systematically hoarding gold?

#4 Why have billionaires such as George Soros and John Paulson been hoarding massive amounts of gold?

#5 Why are billionaires buying up so much ranch land up in Montana?

#6 Why is Russia warning that we are rapidly approaching a global “currency war”?

#7 Why has Barack Obama chosen this moment to launch an all-out attack on the Second Amendment?

#8 Why does Barack Obama want doctors to ask their patients questions about firearms?

#9 Why is there an incredibly severe nationwide ammunition shortage all of a sudden?

#10 Why has a bill been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives that “would ban Internet or mail order ammunition purchases“?

#11 Why are gun control advocates such as Piers Morgan pushing for us to become more like the UK when the UK actually has a much higher violent crime rate than we do?

#12 Why was a Forbes article that made a connection between the use of psychiatric drugs and the mass shootings that we have seen in recent years almost immediately taken down from the Internet?

#13 Why does the federal government want to start putting “black boxes” in all new motor vehicles?

#14 Why are some U.S. states now using computers to predict “future crimes“?

#15 Why are “black-clad federal SWAT teams” raiding farms and ranches all over the United States?

#16 Why are we all being trained to spy on one another?

#17 Why are highly advanced facial recognition cameras being put upall over the United States?

#18 Why have police departments all over America begun to deployunmanned surveillance drones in the skies over our cities?

#19 Why are schools all over America beginning to require students to carry IDs with RFID microchips in them wherever they go?

#20 Why are more Americans not outraged that nearly 400 TSA employees have been fired for stealing from travelers since 2003?

#21 Why are Americans not more outraged that TSA goons are manhandling the private areas of our women and our children in the name of “national security”?

#22 Why is an elderly survivor of the Nazi occupation of Austria, Kitty Werthmann, warning that America is heading down the exact same path that she experienced?

#23 If the economy is in good shape, then why are more than one out of every four U.S. workers with a 401(k) raiding those funds in order to pay current expenses?

#24 Why does the Federal Reserve continue to insist that the economy is “improving” when it obviously is not?

#25 Why can so few Americans explain how money is created in the United States?

#26 Why has the U.S. dollar declined in value by well over 95 percent since the Federal Reserve was created?

#27 Why is the U.S. national debt more than 5000 times larger than it was when the Federal Reserve was created?

#28 Why isn’t the mainstream media in the U.S. discussing the fact that the U.S. dollar is in danger of losing its status as the primary reserve currency of the world?

#29 Why don’t more Americans know about the quadrillion dollar derivatives bubble?

#30 Why did the U.S. national debt grow during the first four years of the Obama administration by about as much as it did from the time that George Washington took office to the time that George W. Bush took office?

#31 Why is the middle class in America bringing home a smaller share of the overall income pie than has ever been recorded before?

#32 If the U.S. economy is producing a healthy number of good jobs, then why are we spending nearly a trillion dollars a year on welfare?

#33 If the U.S. economy is not collapsing, then why has the number of Americans on food stamps grown from 17 million in the year 2000 to more than 47 million today?

#34 If America is still an economic powerhouse, then why have we lostmore than 56,000 manufacturing facilities since 2001?

#35 Why are we losing half a million jobs to China every single year?

#36 Why were one out of every ten homes sold in the state of California last year purchased by Chinese citizens?

#37 Why has the percentage of men with jobs in the United States fallen so dramatically?  Back in 1950, more than 80 percent of all men in the United States had jobs.  Today, less than 65 percent of all men in the United States have jobs.

#38 Why are so many Americans poor today?  According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 146 million Americans are either “poor” or “low income”.  Why is this happening?

#39 Why does the U.S. government have a website that teaches immigrants how to sign up for welfare programs once they arrive in the United States?

#40 Why has the number of gang members living in the United States risen by an astounding 40 percent just since 2009?

#41 Why does approximately one out of every three children in the United States live in a home without a father?  Can such a society prosper in the long run?

#42 Why are our supermarkets being flooded with genetically-modified foods when a whole host of studies have shown that they are potentially dangerous to human health?

#43 If the economy has “improved” during the Obama years, then why are hunger and poverty still absolutely skyrocketing in the United States?

#44 Why are more than a million public school students in the United States homeless?

#45 Why are more than 50 percent of all children in Detroit living in poverty?  Detroit used to be one of the greatest cities in the entire world.  How did such prosperity turn into such desolation?

#46 Why did a violent riot break out at an event where government-subsidized section 8 housing vouchers were being handed out in a suburb of Detroit earlier this month?  Is this the kind of unrest that we can expect to see all over the country when things get really bad?

#47 Why are cities all over the United States making it illegal to feed the homeless?

#48 Why is the UN trying to take control of the Internet?

#49 Why have global food supplies sunk to their lowest level in nearly 40 years?

#50 Why is global power concentrated in so few hands?  According to the Swiss Federal Institute, a network of 147 mega-corporationscontrol 40 percent of all the wealth in the world, and in a previous article I described how just six obscenely powerful corporations completely dominate the media industry in the United States.  Is it good for such incredible power to be concentrated in the hands of so few people?

Please share this article with as many people as you can.  It only takes a few moments to share an article, but the person on the other end that reads it might have their life changed forever.

Why is this happening at such an accelerated rate and yet no one is even trying to stop it? It used to be that the media would examine many sides of an issue but not anymore. I guess they are all in on it, except for a small number of patriots. If you’re not a member of the new world order club then you are deemed crazy and will be silenced by taking away your right to bear arms and your right to be heard. This country has become hypnotized by evil, I can relate this phenomenon to the Stockholm Syndrone.

#2 is VERY important because it’s showing a lack of trust between Central Banks. When that happens, all bets are off. The could potentially start a war.

When country A says to country B, give us our stuff back and country B says no you have to wait 7 years. Country A then demands it back or else and that’s when the shit hits the fan.

So yes events are accelerating and the who is more interested in protecting their guys in office, hide under the desk. Shame on them. This should be headline news but it’s not.

More interesting is that countries usually negotiate behind the scenes so as NOT to cause a stir. This was put out in public which should be even more alarming. It’s like country A trying to embarrass country B for being thieves.

If this was North Korea, Iran or some other rouge country instead of the sane Germans you’d be reading about some serious threats and they would probably at on it.

The US Gubmint and the Feds deserve what they get because it’s becoming like Rome in ancient days. We are seeing corruption at all time highs and TPTB who want to collapse the system for even more power and wealth.

Let’s remember who the pigs are who are doing this to our beloved country, so that they can be held accountable. And not merely in the court of public opinion

Reason 53. Just look at how small and insignificant humans and the whole civilization is against the shear volume of energy just from the planet alone, the Sun is exponentially more powerful and capable ending human civilization within an instance.
Reason 54. It is just plain head buried in cement not to be preparing for emergencies that are growing in much increased frequency.

            52. If gun control works so well, why does crime go up when it’s imposed and down when it’s gotten rid of? Australia and WDC are two examples.
            53. Why does it turn out that like you, the people on TV that oppose guards in school, have their children in guarded schools and live in guarded communities.
            54. Considering it’s record, Why should anyone trust the government for anything.?

I looked forward to reading this article. I prepare for some pretty grim future possibilities for my family. I would like to have a bunch of questions to get people to think about their over-reliance on the system, how economies tank, how wars start up fast and unplanned, how the freedoms we have / had in the US is a bright spot in a pretty dark and dreary history of human oppression.

Most of what I read here is hinting at shady conspiracies. Anybody who thinks preppers are a bit nuts will only think more so if you give them this. Hell, I’m one of you and this stuff turns ME off.

The Socratic method has never been a favorite of mine, and this sounds like a whole bunch of unconnected conjecture from a very limited perspective. I’m sure UFO enthusiasts could write up a “good” 50 questions that “prove” the earth is dominated and guided by ETs or Demons.

You don’t have to believe in conspiracies to plan for tough times ahead.

          Maybe next time…

I know bad things can happen. And me and my family are prepared. I will also fight for our constitution rights (for me and you).

BUT, I also know how to spot a nut job, and zealots and frauds who push their point of view too hard and fail to see the flip side of the coin. The author of this article doesn’t appear to be a nut job and he isn’t asking for money, but he does seem to push hard without seeing both sides. I have been around a while and have heard about the acceleration of world change for some time now. Whether you read Hal Lindsey from the 1980s, Art Bell in the 1990s etc. you’ll see the same thing in all these narratives jumping from point to point insinuating that things are changing and something big is coming.

I’ve never bought into that stuff and I still don’t. Nevertheless my family and I are prepared for lots of hard times – they do happen: to the globe and to local neighborhoods.

About two years ago I posted on another survivalist board that I thought some other “expert” was blowing hot air. Folks jumped on me then.

              http://www.thesurvivalistblog.net/july-latest-caveman/#comments

I’m doing it agin now. MXLord that was april of 2011, now it is January of 2013, two Julys have come and gone.

In two years from now if it is all still together lets post again on SHTFplan and see who’s confronting and accepting reality. I’ll be around and selectively looking for useful survival/homesteading tips as long as there’s an internet. And I’ll be poking fun at the conspiracy postings then too.

“Why” Michael? Because Americans as a group have been cavalier about their political responsibilities, letting “George” do it; and letting “O’bummer” do it.

And they “did it” to US.

Who is “they”? They are the Globalists who masguerade as Public Servants and Patriots yet desire to dominate US, eviscerate the middle class and destroy the US Constitution seeking to make everyone who is not one of them, a serf and economic vassal dependent upon government.

They shipped OUR jobs offshore under Free Trade”.

They encouraged the invasion of America by illegals to suppress OUR wages and steal OUR jobs.

They sent OUR troops overseas to fight wars of Phony Crony Capitalism to expand their empire.

They made the gangster banksters whole with taxpayer funds while stealing the American means of production and making US subsidize them while they do it.

Now they want to take OUR guns to codify and solidify OUR servitude. Lock and load. WE are Seal Team America.

        Engage. Vote.

I came across a great link the other day that exposes the communist agenda. This is from 1963:

I agree, my health insurance has already gone from $75 a week to $175 a week just in the last 3 years, and my deductible has gone from $1000 to $9000. Now some are predicting a doubling or tripling of premiums next year from where they are now. Tripling what I am paying now means $27,300 a year plus another $900 for the deductible. That is 66% of my gross salary. How the eff am I supposed to pay that o-fuckhead-bama??????????

          • I can’t say I blame any particular group for our woes. I choose to take a more personal view. I am the captain of my ship, no matter what waters I sail. How I choose to navigate rough water will define me. What I choose to do with my time in calm seas is my decision as well.

If I fail to mend my hull in quiet times, I can expect to sink when I meet my next typhoon. I expect to bail water to keep from swamping my own boat.

If I refuse to prepare for the storm on the horizon, that decision was mine to make. My crew will either suffer with me, or abandon ship. Either way, a good captain goes down with the ship.

Finally the man pulls up to the lttle girl and offers her the whole bag of candy and she stops and turns to talk to him. She said Gezz dad I told you you bought that Ford truck so you ride in it..

      • HI Smokin!
WE, the true conservative patriots in this country have a decision to make…

We cannot shoot first… that’s just the way it is. You know that down deep.
If we shoot first, then we become criminals.

But also, we cannot UNIFY, because of our differing ideologies and religious bent, they keep us arguing amongst ourselves. We cannot unify because there is no one IDEA, that all people are on board with… we are like a herd of cats, with a thousand ‘opinions’.

At this time, we still have the semblance of the rule of law. The semblance, the appearance, but not the actuality as long as Jon Corzine and others are still walking around free.

Anything we do at this point is a losing strategy, except one, and we don’t seem to want to unify even in support of the Constitution, we have determined to be ‘individuals’, going our separate ways, forming militias of one. Despite Matt Bracken’s eloquence, this too, ultimately, is a losing strategy. Why? Because we are in an economic war, and you cannot shoot a tidal wave. If we started taking them out, they will respond with economic sanctions. We will be starved of the stuff of life and they will blame it all on us, until ‘brother against brother’ becomes real… they will turn the DGI’s against us. Can you operate in a vacuum? How long till your preps run out?

In this environment, we see now, how Hitler came to power…and how the Germans were frozen.

We have drawn a line in the sand, and now the PTB stick their toes across that line, while the left and right argue, my guess is, the ‘compromise’ will be in a national gun registry, back ground checks and mental health will be where they get us. The DGI’s WANT THIS, once you understand this, you see that they will not wake up until the smoke rises from the incineration chambers…

If we insist on fighting this battle one by one, then the enemy must be targeted one by one. There can be no other way. If then, the PTB insist on creeping warfare, we can give it to them, without violating our principles. WE CAN scare the crap out of them… with something they would never expect, and something that has the ULTIMATE POWER IN THIS LAND.

I have never advocated a Constitutional convention before, until recently. We are scared to do this because we might ‘lose’, but, we have already lost. This is the logic of the damned. When, if we take it one step further, we could turn losing into winning. Bear with me, and first understand, there cannot be any amendments or new constitutions without a SUPER MAJORITY, something neither side has, but, there IS a way to put Washington out of business.

There are now 25 RED states, and it is possible to take the power from Washington, without our Federal ‘employees’ participating… IF, the states DIRECTLY called a convention, and the good guys decided to fight it to a draw. But, ALL current ‘public servants’ must be specifically excluded by the concon committee, or the special interests will insert themselves, just like I told the Tea party they would be marginalized once they allowed in the NY-DC Establishment. The states could do this, we could call it the ‘Flyover Convention’. Delegates to be chosen by public debates, come one come all, bring your ideas not your money.

It is the only rational, sane, and moral way forward without reverting to violence. We could do it, all we would have to do, is UNIFY under an Idea. The left would fight tooth and nail, but, we OUTNUMBER THEM. If we would but use those numbers rationally to block them to a floor fight and a draw.

Then legally draw up the Article of Dissolution, and save something of our culture, by LEGALLY SPLITTING APART THE UNION, and telling Washington and New York to go to hell. Winning by losing plan 1. The beauty is, there would be nothing they could do but call in UN troops, yet, the concon could have the Militias of the several states as ‘security’. Then the PTB, would merely expose their agenda for all the world to see, and we, would have a LEGAL RIGHT TO DECLARE the Constitution in ABEYANCE, just for those states who wish and declare war against the PTB and UN. Thus, we could win, by losing, plan 2.

But, we would have to have FIGHTERS on the floor, not wimps. We have plenty of those, we just need to turn them loose, with AUTHORITY. (Bloggers, radio hosts, authors, the leaders of patriots. Those who are fighting now…)

A third party will not work.
Term limits will not work, because they will not happen.
Nothing will work, as long as it takes place in Washington DC.
A revolution against them, will be met by even larger hoards of DGI’s.
Another Tea party like protest, will simply be mocked.
Militias of One, as I said, will just be met by sterner crackdowns, and victimization of everyone, turning everyone against you. The pitchforks and torches will be turned against the right wing Christians and patriots. You will be driven underground, shtfplan and other sites would become non viable anymore.

Otherwise, going Galt, is a temporary measure at best, and self destructive at worst, because you cannot go Galt, you can only go Half a Galt. Why? Because there is no HIDDEN SANCTUARY. All property now comes under their tax law… they’ll get to you one way or the other.

Otherwise, start drawing up target lists, and prepare for your children to curse us for their misery.

            1. Nullification of Obamacare, NDAA, and pretty much everything passed since JFK… that oughta stir the pot.
            2. Term limits, 1 term and you’re out. No more politicians, only statesmen.

            3. All citizens Must carry and be trained as the Unorganized Militia. Females, as responsible baby factories, get a free pass.
            4. Legalization of everything. Live and let live.
(Put it back between you and your God. Leave each other alone.)
            5. Definition of a Human Being. Hippocrates defined a human being as when The Quickening happened. When a fetus gets a heartbeat, your freedom ends at the responsibility of murder. You are free and responsible.

No interest, ‘free’ money from state banks, and all other banks outlawed. Silver and gold and Real bills plus state notes are all legal tender having ‘real’ value.

As I have always said: Anytime a 50-70 year old male thinks he can tell a 15-50 year old female what she can or cannot do, either the man is a MD and the woman is real sick ,and knows it, or the man is nuts, and doesn’t know it. Like it or not females must make the decision on their bodies, I cannot even tell my wife what to do and you think you can tell other women YAH SURE.

              • You have reading comprehension problems. Read what I said, not what you feel.
I said; to define a ‘HUMAN BEING’. For every RIGHT, there is a concomitant RESPONSIBILITY.
Yes, you can legalize everything, but, you do not understand, that you cannot murder a human being, or, infringe on my rights.

Females DO make the decision on their own bodies, but, they are under the obligation to KNOW their own bodies… they are no longer allowed to be LAZY freaking self absorbed nutcases either, if, they are screwing they are CREATING OTHER HUMAN BEINGS. To say that a woman does not have the responsibility to be the caretaker of her own womb, is leftist think.

Yes, it is their body, and yes, they should have the RIGHT to make their own decisions, it should be between them and their God…UP UNTIL, that ‘fetus’ is transformed into a ‘human being’, then, their rights end at the responsibility to that OTHER HUMAN BEING.

Just like drugs are fine for some, but not for others. I have the right to live in a drug free zone, if I wish, or not. But, I do not have the right to get on the road and kill people because I’m STUPID. Alcohol is LEGAL, and how many people are killed every year because of stupid? Driving while ‘impaired’ should simply be a road side test, like walking the line, touching your nose, etc. Like they do now, ANY indication of impairment, should result in a blood test.

ALL RIGHTS have RESPONSIBILITIES attached, you don’t need a thousand laws to define it. Whenever you ‘infringe’ on somebody else, that is where the RIGHT ends, and the RESPONSIBILITY begins…

Who is forcing anything on who?
You don’t read, you react based on your ideology.
TO say that something is between them and their God, means exactly that. If you have no ‘god’, then that’s your choice.
I give the RIGHT to have an abortion, yet you want to bring religious history into this?
I am against much of what religious zealots have forced on society… if you knew me you would know that.
But, to find a middle ground, that gives both the right and the responsibility, is a personal issue, but also, an issue for those who do not accept that a ‘fetus’ can be a ‘human being’, in that, you are wrong.
You get to have an abortion, within the ‘fetus’ time period, after that, you are stilling a beating heart and are a murderer.

I KNOW, I was once, just the ‘father’, and had no say so… it was a case of ‘pay for it and STFU’. 40 years later, I still feel like I participated in a murder. IF you ever have to make the decision, and have no regret, then you, are not human.

(Unfortunately, most liberals think nobody else is human, unless you agree with them. This shows how there is no room for ‘compromise’ or middle ground, and why we are so fooked.)

          Very well said.

I have been thinking of what will I do when they cross the line we have drawn. A question that I have for everyone is this:

We have all built a life and most have jobs, careers, businesses. We have wives, children, husbands. We have homes, boats, campers, etc. When they say” register your guns or you will be in violation of ___ law”, are we all willing to become criminals instantly? We will be giving up our lives as we know them and in the eyes of the sheep around us, we will be no different than a felon.
I know my answer. I will become a criminal, but how many when faced with this prospect, will register and turn us in as well to keep thier iphone, house, car and job?
It is going to be a tough time for true Patriots and I truly hope we can come out the other side free.

If we do succeed in winning our freedom, what will be our government after? The tea parties and republican party have all fractured because of infighting and failure to agree on just about anything, except what coffee to serve at the meetings. Are we going to be so fractured that we have constant battles after the PTB are defeated until the time when china or some other country says it is time to take us?
I am sure the founders went through this same conflict, but today is different. People are alot more self absorbed than they were then.

          • Thanks Bulldog,
Understand this folks, a Constitutional Convention called DIRECTLY by the Several States(NOT Congress), is a SUPER Congress, with power over the Federal Establishment. Even the CALLING for one, will cause heads to explode all over the place. That alone would be worth it.

We all saw this final battle begin yesterday, with the children, and the comments by this Usurper puppet in the WH. He has begun, with his arrogant and self righteous attitude, he is not a president of all the people… this much is clear, he is a Caesar wannabe.

Nobody has heard the inkling that he is going to ramp up his campaign on this issue. He has never shut down his campaign! So they will try to make us out to be the bad guys, the 2014 campaign started yesterday…

The numbers are clear, he did not WIN this election, he was handed this election by the good guys who stayed HOME. This is simply a continuation of that strategy, to fill you with disgust at politicians, and an abiding social hatred of anybody who stands up for guns. As we turn more and more towards APATHY, we have given up before the final battle.

Therefore, we must learn to do as the PTB do, and quit playing CHECKERS, and play chess. A multidimensional game. This guy is SLICK… he will not take the guns, he will make it impossible for you to use them in self defense… without getting declared crazy or go to jail for not registering them(if you don’t register, you’re ‘crazy’). I can see the next steps already… to have a CCW you’ll have to have a million dollar liability policy, you’ll have to beg borrow or steal ammo. Without ammo, all you got is a fancy paper weight.

That’s why I got into reloading, but I would prefer just to cut them off at the pass, by unifying. This is also, the only way to unify, without worrying about AGENTS. Let the agents come… they’ll have to give a good speech to become a delegate… and the concon could be conducted CLOSED SESSION… let the rumors fly… let everybody get vested… let everybodies hopes soar… use the emotions like they do.

Then, when deadlock is apparent on the floor, no amendments will pass, no nullification of Obamacare, NDAA, etc… then, when everybody is DESPERATE for some action, we give everybody what they want… the blue states can become free for welfare and the red states can go back to natural law. Either that or the Feds go crazy, seeing their power slip through their fingers, and call in troops. Either way, we either get shed of them, or get to kill them legally, in self defense…

This is simply a way of stopping the incremental BS, a way of saying “ENOUGH, fish or cut bait”.

            I spoke of this in my article;

Flower, a middle aged Jersey, said, “He seemed perfectly fine at noon. We had our usual mating, then I went off to eat grass.”
All the cows told a similar story. Finally, Jumper, the new cow, looked at the farmer and said, “He came to see me out in the pasture this afternoon and I killed him. But, it’s all your fault he’s dead.”
Brown was incredulous. ‘What are you talking about?!’
“Well, when you bought me at the sale yesterday, you didn’t notice that I’m a bull too!”

You’re right. Not too much to laugh about these days.

Been trying to wake up people around here for a long time. I believe I am starting to make progress. I now have 5 like-minded individuals on my “prepper wagon”. One of them just purchased his first ever firearm a few days ago. I’ll be working with this fella and teaching him how to use it responsibly, safely and properly. In my eyes, that’s the real definition of “gun control”.

I just don’t understand, however, why it took as long as it did to finally get them to wake up. To me, it’s painfully obvious what’s going on I and where we’re all headed. Maybe I’ve awakened them in time, but I just don’t know.

As for myself, I’m continuing to gather my supplies, but I still have many things I’m behind on. I’m getting there, however.

      Heard on the PA system–

Attention Wal-Mart shoppers: For your safety, we will no longer be selling guns, ammo, knives, hammers, baseball bats, frying pans, pens and pencils, or any pointy objects. We do still have a wide variety of soft squishy items, all made by Chinese slave labor, and at money saving prices!
Plus, we have now opened TWO, count ‘em TWO! of our 56 checkouts for your convenience! We do this for you, our valued customers, because we love you! And, because it’s more profitable to make you stand in line than to hire a few more low-wage part-time Associates.
One more important thing you’ll notice at Wal-Mart- We are now a strict “Gun Free Zone” This will ensure that no law-abiding citizen is armed, thus making you much more safe in your shopping environment. Only crazed, psycho killers, probably zombified by medications from our full service pharmacy, will be able to come in and shoot up the place. If that should happen, rest assured that we will call the police at once. They may arrive in time to save a few of you. Then again, you may all be slaughtered. If that happens, we apologize for any inconvenience.
And remember, as always, your EBT cards are welcome! Thanks for shopping at Wal-Mart!

Smokin’, this is just not true. Every WallyWorld I’ve been to did not have a sign prohibiting CC. They still sell modern sporting rifles and ammo, it’s just that as soon as they get them in they are purchased. Some now have a limit to 3 boxes per customer, but not all. That is probably up to the stores manager and they had similar limits last time our dearly beloved most generous and thoughtful leader was bestowed upon us. They may actually be expanding to carry handguns again, but who knows now with the current atmosphere. They are a resource and you can use them objectively. The thing about the check out lines is usually true tho…

Jack Schitt is the only son of Awe Schitt. Awe Schitt, the fertilizer magnate, married O. Schitt, the owner of Needeep N. Schitt, Inc. They had one son, Jack.

In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt. The deeply religious couple produced six children: Holie Schitt, Giva Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Bull Schitt, and the twins Deep Schitt and Dip Schitt.

Against her parents’ objections, Deep Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a high school dropout. After being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt divorced.

Noe Schitt later married Ted Sherlock, and because her kids were living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schitt Sherlock.

Meanwhile, Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt, and they produced a son with a rather nervous disposition named Chicken Schitt.

Two of the other six children, Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, were inseparable throughout childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony.

The wedding announcement in the newspaper announced the Schitt-Happens nuptials. The Schitt-Happens children were Dawg, Byrd, and Horse.

Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schitt.

Now when someone says, ‘You don’t know Jack Schitt,’ you can correct them and tell them you know the whole family!

The worldwide fiat based economy depends on infinite growth to pay the compound interest usury fees or it dies.Infinite growth is impossible on a planet with finite resources. The system is dying. Better secure your own sustainability locally as much as possible. Your life may depend on it. Was paying for my order at the local grocery the other day. Asked the young girl if they accepted fiat money. She said “No…only checks, credit cards or cash.” sigh

Enjoyed the article and, of course, nodding my head at all of the questions submitted because they’re the type of questions we are familiar with. And the majority of readers to this site know the answers to some or all of the 50 questions.

But there’s one problem — the average person isn’t interested in preparing for a worse future. The average person isn’t involved in current events and most are living day to day or ‘in the moment’. As as been discussed here many times before, many of us are not going to waste any more time to try and convince others to be better prepared for a different tomorrow. The way I see it, the average person has that head-in-the-sand outlook. They wouldn’t even understand the 50 questions if they were asked. Many know ‘times are hard’ but they don’t know (or want to know) the statistics behind the facts. But those TVs are on 24/7/365….Now if you dumb-it-down and simply say, “Do you want to wind up like a Katrina victim?”, you’ll get a response. But to use facts and explanations that require thinking outside the box, the conversation ends. So no thanks…I’ll use my time constructively and keep plugging along, stacking it higher.

I also find that the direct “do you want to end up like Katrina folks or Sandy folks” has been the best question to get people to thinking. But a lot of times I get fired back at me, “what do you want me to do, I don’t have enough money for gas to get to work, or buy groceries, or get meds for the kids flu. You buy me something” This comes even from my own children and some of their friends. Very tough for mom to hear. So then what? You KNOW I’m preparing for them too. Just has to be that way.

        • Zoltanne says:

Grandee, You bring up a valid point that many parents understand and have experience with. Most of us have taken our children (and even extended families) into consideration when prepping. If we have the ability and foresight to do so, we should — or we’ll find it difficult to survive and thrive without them.

So if any of us believe another family member might just wind up at our homes, prepare for it!! Be Informed had a nifty mathematical explanation on the impact that ‘just one person’ has on a person’s stored foods, toiletries, and general household needs. Maybe BI could repost that explanation. We all need to understand what the real impact will be if another family member moves back home. And we should, if we are able to, prepare for the possibility/probability of that event.

Here, yes, we’re preparing for other family members to join us. No one knows of our food storage, except for the kitchen pantry and the fact that we buy our grains in bulk. So we do our preps quietly. If/when they arrive, we’ll be ready.

And because it’s obvious that few of the neighboring families are well prepared around here, we are putting up some extra foods, seeds, and items that we can give or barter with them — mostly to get them up-and-running on their own. (The ole ‘teach them to fish’ belief has got to be used from Day 1 or we’ll all become the new welfare state, right?) If it gets to a point where we join up and become a stronger community, all of those gorgeous horses will need to be put to work in the fields instead of beautifying the countryside. Heh heh…can’t wait for THAT image…. :-)

Young adults have it especially hard, I think. Many are barely making it on their incomes but they don’t realize that they can’t have the same households as their parents have. They all want independence and to ‘live on their own’ but the paychecks just don’t stretch far enough. Suggesting that it might be time to double-up w/ friends and split the rent is still met with resistance. Some would rather get a second or third job. Can’t fix their ignorance — they’ve got to learn by doing. Hopefully the family safety nets will catch them before they fall hard. Here’s hoping that our evolving world-as-we-know-it will provide some good life lessons for them.

A really good bunch of questions. Short answer as to why so few prep. The majority of people have been raised to believe that they will be taken care of. The nany state. They just can’t believe it is broken.

At Christmas my yuppie brother in law says out of the blue that since he travels so much out of state he knows he can count on me to watch over his wife and my nephew. I really did not know what to say. He offered nothing for my commitment to his family other than he is thinking of buying a gun down the road.

The guy is standing next to cabinets that are filled to the brim and cases upon cases of food stuffs along with a water storage system that is loaded and ready to go. His wife walks by and asks “whats all the water for” and then goes inside when I didn’t answer.

You would think he would offer to kick in some thing upon makng that request other than I am thinking of buying a gun. Still thinking on what to tell him.

The collapse is here. People dont realize that our dollar has had a hard time staying above 85 since 2003. This means it has about 20% less value than 6 other currencies it is compared to.

With the Worlds largest debt and a currency devalued, why would anyone ‘store’ their currency using US Dollars?

I look at the situation that most people just haven’t seen the other side of the fence. If one has the opportunity to live abroad or visit places like India or Central Africa where poverty is all around you, it would give people a different perspective on what it is like in the US. Real poverty is pretty damn scary. I’m not talking people living paycheck to paycheck and still having big screen tvs and various Apple gear. I’m talking about people dying from starvation or cholera. That woke me up knowing my watch probably cost more than many families’ entire possessions. I was in the Soviet Union when it collapsed and people were selling everything just for food, especially pensioners. It was a depressing site to go to the metro and seeing lines of people with a handful of trinkets hoping someone would give them some money. It changed my life and when I returned to the US, I bought a farm to rear my kids on, teaching them where food comes from, how to be self sustaining, because the new generation of kids will probably live in a much different world than we are living (learning the hardway what lack of resources are). I don’t want my kids to be staring at phones all day texting, that is just plain creepy. Especially in restaurants. I see entire families texting on their phones and not actually talking to each other. Sometimes technology just plain sucks. Give me a shovel and a hoe and let me grow some vegetables. My kids love it too and they invite friends over to grow corn and pumpkins.

In looking at the questions above, I see that for a normal person, the only questions that matter are what hits their wallet. Nothing else really matters, because money solves pretty much everything and if you go deep in debt, that becomes tomorrow’s problem. Money is what matters, and when that runs out for people (or becomes valueless), that’s when the SHTF. The nanny state can last for a while, but that will end too. It will break at some point, and soon I think, as you can’t just support 50 million people on the government dime. The chess pieces are being placed on the board from what I can see. Wars are always fought over resources, and the big players are seeing that resources are becoming more and more finite.

I also think the world is a bit scared to see the US disintegrate. For all our awful policies, we do balance things out a bit. If the US were to collapse tomorrow from an EMP or Oprah decides to retire, the leadership vacuum on this planet will be something to behold. Not sure I want to see where that goes personally. The US has a bunch of knuckleheads running the country and has a vast amount of sheeple, but perhaps this is where I am selfish is that I really don’t give a crap about them. The herd will be thinned and I’ll have my farm and like minded neighbors ready to carry on. I just can’t worry about everything. I do my part, give to charities, provide food to pantries, try to be friendly to people and do my civic volunteerism. I believe (and hope) that the future brings us back to local communities taking care of each other, because at some point the long haul truckers aren’t going to be coming to your local Walmart.

“The logic here is easy to follow. Any attempt to withdraw from imperial commitments will face concerted resistance from those who profit from the status quo, while those who claim to oppose empire are rarely willing to keep supporting a policy of imperial retreat once it turns out, as it inevitably does, that the costs of that policy will include a direct impact on their own incomes or the value of their investments. Thus politicians who back a policy of withdrawal from empire can count on being pilloried by their opponents as traitors to their country, and abandoned by erstwhile allies who dislike empire in the abstract but want to retain lifestyles that only an imperial tribute economy can support. Since politicians are, after all, in the business of getting into office and staying there, their enthusiasm for such self-sacrificing policies is understandably limited.”

At risk of oversimplification, I submit the answer- directly or indirectly- to the 50 questions and many more besides is the decline of morality in America.

Economic decline, rampant government corruption, self-centered hedonism, worship of the State while denying God, the “legal” slaughter of our children, the intentional blurring of right and wrong, etc, etc, are but symptoms. The cause is the long war against the moral standard which was considered essential for the success of our society once upon a time. Our traditional moral standard- to which we can rally- is far more important than stocks of firearms, ammo or food (though I have those too!).

While Obama’s executive order says that doctors are allowed to ask about firearms, the ACA (Obamacare) prohibits doctors from compiling data on “legally” owned firearms. So while they may ask, they cannot use this against you under ACA (Is it even totally implemented yet?). Thank you Harry Reid. I was a little confused as to why this was even part of the EOs. A couple stories on the Soviet Union Collapse. I’ll focus on Russia because I was mainly there, but did travel around to all the ‘stans’ which had it much worse. When Yeltsin took over in August of ’91, the infrastructure just basically unravelled. The only places to get food were bakeries which were subsidized heavily, couple cents a loaf, and little portable bodegas that started lining the main streets. All owned by the Mafia of course. That’s where people bought personal hygeine supplies, essentials and traded for hard currency. For some reason there was a huge market for snickers bars and that is how people gauged inflation, was how much a snickers bar cost

Also, as the military went into shambles, the country started to be stripped bare. Tallin in Estonia became this ginormous seaport for extracting all the scrap metals from the Soviet Union. Jobs just disappeared as factories shut down, poof just like that because the manufacturing complex was for military, sound familiar. So lots of people just sort of sat around, because housing was basically free, along with electricity and heat. The one thing that the Russians have that people in the US don’t have was a place to go to ‘to wait it out’ Their dacha system around the cities is what saved most people. They’d just head out there and grow some food, and just kind of do their thing. They had no jobs to go to, so they stayed at their dachas (summer homes) for months on end. I fear that if things collapse like in Russia, there won’t be these summer homes to go to, where will the millions of city people go? Raid suburbia? Where will the surbanites go? To the country? Anyway, it’s just something that WILL be different than Russia.

For the most part the Russians used the barter system prior to the collapse anyway to get things they wanted. There were no department stores, no walmarts, just various ‘stores’. No one ate at restaurants either, probably because there weren’t that many, and the ones that existed were for the new money mafia. Money didn’t matter unless you had hard currency. The rubles value varied so widely that many people didn’t accept them. Especially in the central markets. A good example of price insanity, you could spend a 1000 rubles to buy a shirt at a bodega, but government run businesses you could still buy things for 5 rubles. I remember going to the bolshoi ballet for 8 rubles, or about 10 cents at the time, while going to McDonalds (there was only one) cost about 300 rubles. Some people’s entire salary was the price of going to McDonalds. A painter friend of mine made 1500 rubles a month, which prior to the collapse was actually quite a bit of dough, but after the collapse, inflation took off, he basically made enough money to buy bread and some other groceries. So he ended up going out to villages looking for lend/lease Harleys from WWII and refurbishing them. I bought one.

The mafia actually did some good there, they would rent/’borrow’ trains that went to China or other places and just fill them to the gills with clothes, food, products and bring them back to the cities to be sold in the portable bodegas. They basically built a free market. That’s how all these rich oligarchs became rich, was basically being robber barons in one industry or another. Most were former KGB, Government or Military leaders that just went private.

It really was a world of two groups. The new found rich that adopted Western culture and were in the right place at the right time, and then the rest of the people that just got pummeled by the system. There wasn’t much looting or marauding parties, because, there just wasn’t anything to loot. Who is going to barge into your apartment when you have nothing? If I had hindsight and could go back to this time, this is what I would ship into the country to sell, because people paid handsomely for the following

Tampons – could not be found anywhere selling for over a dollar a piece
Levis – everyone wanted them because they were rugged and could be worn everyday as compared to ‘track suits’
      Cigarettes
      Shampoo and Hair Dye
      Zippo Lighters
      Good towels
      Toilet Paper
      Jars with lids (canning supplies)
      Candy Bars

I remember having my friends send me boxes of tampons to give to my friends’ wives. They’d actually cry. Same thing with towels. If you think about it, imagine life without a towel.

You forgot one other advantage we had beesides free housing and utility. Transport infrastracture that was buiilt to LAST. Trains, trolleys, buses and trams (especially trams) were in heavy use (since virtual absence of personal transport) with basically zero maintenance – and most of them (at least trams, commuter trains and metro in big cities) are either still in use in fairly tolerable condituions or still ready for emergency use while being rapidly replaced – at least in big cities). I can attest to that since I’m riding old St.Petersburg metro train cars every day and occasionaly catch an old tram, though most of these aare new nowdays. Same storty with long-distance trains and cargo railway fleet. US? I honestly dont know since I\ve never been there. But from thee outside it looks like car culture is vastly predominant – and in times of trouble thats more hindrance than advantage. First off, avalibility of fuel. Second issue is prograamed obsoletion in modern things (not only cars) and additionaly, wide use of electronics in cars will serve as multiplier to probability of fatal reakdown – electronuics are always more touchy. Cant comment on state of public and gargo transportation in US as affected by collapse. Not enough data.

I agree, that the US will be in a world of hurt if the car culture shuts down. Which goes back to my original thought that the world when it collapses will shrink substantially. Your world will be the 50 mile radius around you. Unless everyone rides bikes! WOuld solve the obesity problem that is for sure. One other thing I forgot to mention about my time in Russia during the collapse. No one watched television except for Baywatch for some reason. People knew how to entertain themselves without screens. I loved sitting with everyone and having real awesome conversations over a bottle of Vodka, making about 50 toasts because once you open a bottle you have to empty it. Loved that rule.

That work (of comprehensively telling everything about collapse) is already done. There is a book by Alex Orlov, named “Reinventing collapse” (as far as I know 2nd edition of it is either out or nearing completion). It explores a theory of collapse and make a decent comparative study of USSSR collapse and impending US collapse. Author was also an observer of USSR collapse with Russian ancestry. He has a blog here:
          http://cluborlov.blogspot.ru/
and couple of other books all relating to the subject of collapse. All I can tell would be anecdotal since I never delved deep on theory of what was happenning around. Everyone’s (if you take only usual “lowly” folk) goal was survival, not science. I wasnt intent on putting up an ad, but really hes better at it. All I can answer is direct specified questions. For anyone willing to ask, a perspective – youngster in a family of four where father is a seaman working everything but at sea since virtually all ships were grounded by collapse and mother is a teacher with meager salary not nearly enough to live – only to survive. Older brother, too. To sum it up, near the upper half of metaclass of poor. Questions are welcome

I was reading that here in Oregon, some of our county sheriffs have written to the vice president that they will ignore unconstitutional decrees by obama and that they will support our 2a and will continue to support our conceal carry permit system and will keep the records private.

Question #51 – Why would some county sheriffs feel it necessary to write to the vice president to inform him of their stand on upholding the constitution?

This afternoon they kill an eleven-year-old boy, Ali Murad, and seriously wound four more, three of whom are under eighteen. Children have been shot in other conflicts I have covered—death squads gunned them down in El Salvador and Guatemala, mothers with infants were lined up and massacred in Algeria, and Serb snipers put children in their sights and watched them crumple onto the pavement in Sarajevo—but I have never before watched soldiers entice children like mice into a trap and murder them for sport.”)

Would that it were so. Were the Jews actually running the world, everybody’s economy would be doing great, you and all your fellow fascists would be executed, and we’d be making huge strides toward true liberty, justice, and salvation on all fronts. Jews gave us the Bible, the early Church, linear thinking, physics, and medicine, and from all these gifts we derived the “self-evident” truth that all men were created equal and had certain inalienable rights. (This truth was self-evident to exactly no one before the Jews came along smashing statist idols and exterminating the Pagans’ deified governments.)

When this Moloch state you neo-Pagan National Socialists have set up finally implodes on you, you’ll burn with your deities just as Hitler did with his Wotan and Stalin did with his master Satan (to whom his predecessor Karl Marx wrote love poetry, by the way). When you see Hitler, say hi to Domitian, Nero, Herod, Haman, and all the other Jew-hating fools down there who thought they had a better idea how to run the world.

Nobody ever gave me anything on a silver platter and i don’t want anybody to do so either. If I can’t go out and work for what I want or need, then I’ll do without, That’s how I was raised, “old school” and damned proud of it. I’ve had 10 different vehicles since I was 16 and I paid cash for every one of them. Never had a car financed, period. Never had any kind of bank loan, credit card, etc. I’m literally debt-free so I can get more preps at one time than I could otherwise. I’ve only got myself to provide for; no snotty-nosed, overgrown kids to worry about in my place. just me and my preps. Going shopping again this weekend. Braveheart

49/50 is an A+ in my book. But I disagree with #42. Having and perpetuating legacy seeds is a great idea. But GM foods make food more affordable and safe which is most important for the poor of the world. The elitist, leftist, anti-technology spin against GM food hurts poor people in poor countries. We live in a country where most people who go to the food bank are fat. It is hard for us to see that increasing the cost of food a few percent can cause people to starve.

Rate This Comment: Thumb up 2 Thumb down 4

      • If you do some research you’ll find that GMOs are NOT safe, and when Monsanto has patented every single food ingredient, you’ll learn about starvation at the hands of Monsanto. You see, they can force people to pay whatever they want for our survival. You WILL NOT be able to save your seeds from your own garden. You will be forced to buy more from Monsanto…every year or starve. Google monsanto and find out why india farmers are commiting suicide by the thousands after monsanto took over their farms. Monsantos goal is to control the world’s food and water…Monsanto is PURE EVIL.

I always try to go by what our Heavenly Father says to us in his word. Here it is in plain English…Jer 4:22 For my people [is] foolish, they have not known me; they [are] sottish children, and they have none understanding: they [are] wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

Now as best as I can get from this, the word “sottish” boils down to being, “stupid”; and the sad part is they are becoming more stupid everyday and they breed among us.

I’m not claiming to be better than others but, a little common sense goes a long way. Only a foolish and stupid person would say, “I am defenseless, so you can come and pillage here”. Gun free zone my ass.

Almost sounded like they had props, but no props visible on fusilage. Had very wide wing spans. 10 in a row, flying one after the other. Fairly slow moving. And they didn’t get far before they just kind of ‘disappeared’ into the sky. Neither grandson or I could make out any markings. Lost them from sight before we could get the binoculars or camera.

Why does the United States media refuse to acknowledge the big fat elephant in the living room by ignoring the big hard fact that between 500,000 to 700,000 Americans die each year due to issues directly surrounding pharmaceutical med recipes–in this twenty-first century world? How could an 18th century country English physician produce a vaccine so long ago, basically free of side effects?

As if all are parrots in the President’s pockets, why do all the major U.S. media outlets place cross-hairs on our (the peoples’) right to protect ourselves–whether with a ‘cadillac’ firearm (automatic) or a Ford Escort single-shot style firearm? Why are they fixated in continually raising such an irrational and flagrant (against civil rights) question?

What English King also sought HIS own agenda–by opposing the dictates of Parliament through raising taxes to foment wars abroad, who privately enacted additional burdenous taxation on his people, thumbed his nose at and studied means by which to change England’s constitutional law at whim (i.e. Magna Carta, and Habeous Corpus), and who because of his radically tyrannical ways was forced to flee but was eventually captured by Parliament’s armies, then hauled before a court to be tried for treason, and due to his unflinching defiance–was beheaded?
