16 Signs That Most Americans Are NOT PREPARED For The Coming Economic Collapse

This article has been generously contributed by Michael Snyder. You can follow his regular writings, research and analysis at The Economic Collapse Blog and The American Dream. Read his recent book The Beginning of the End to get an idea of what America may look like in the very near future.

Disaster-Is-Coming-300x300Sometimes I think that I sound like a broken record.  I am constantly using phrases such as “get prepared while you still can” and “time is running out”.  In fact, I use them so often that people are starting to criticize me for it.  But the truth is that only a small percentage of people out there are actively taking steps to get ready for what is coming.  Most of the country is not prepared at all.  In many ways, it is just like 2007 all over again.  There were many people that could see what was about to happen and were doing all they could to warn people, but most did not listen.  And then the great financial crisis of 2008 struck and millions of people lost their jobs and their homes.  Unfortunately, the next great wave of the economic collapse is going to be even more painful than the last one.  It is imperative that people get prepared for what is on the horizon, but for the most part it is just not happening.

A lot of it has to do with the fact that we have such short memories and such short attention spans in America today.  Thanks to years of television and endless hours on the Internet, I find myself having a really hard time focusing on anything for more than just a few moments.  And we are accustomed to living in an “instant society” where we don’t have to wait for anything.  In such a society, we are used to “news cycles” that only last for 24 hours and very few people take a “long-term view” of anything.

And another one of the big problems that we are facing is something called “normalcy bias”.  The following is how Wikipedia defines it…

The normalcy bias, or normality bias, refers to amental state people enter when facing a disaster. It causes people to underestimate both the possibility of a disaster occurring and its possible effects. This often results in situations where people fail to adequately prepare for a disaster, and on a larger scale, the failure of governments to include the populace in its disaster preparations. The assumption that is made in the case of the normalcy bias is that since a disaster never has occurred then it never will occur. It also results in the inability of people to cope with a disaster once it occurs. People with a normalcy bias have difficulties reacting to something they have not experienced before. People also tend to interpret warnings in the most optimistic way possible, seizing on any ambiguities to infer a less serious situation.

Over the past several years, the U.S. economy has been relatively stable.  And that is a good thing.  But it has also lulled millions upon millions of people into a false sense of security and complacency.  At this point, most Americans consider 2008 to be a temporary bump in the road, and most assume that the U.S. economy will always be strong.

Unfortunately, that is not the truth.  As I have written about previously, the long-term trends that are destroying our economy have continued to get worse since 2008, and none of the problems that caused the last financial crisis have been fixed.

We are steamrolling toward the edge of an economic cliff, and most people in our entertainment-addicted society are totally oblivious to what is going on.  So they are not doing anything to get ready for the immense economic pain that is coming.  The following are 16 signs that most Americans are completely unprepared for the coming economic collapse…

#1 Could you come up with $2000 right now?  According to a shocking study that was just released, most Americans could not

Forty percent of individuals in the U.S. said they could not or probably could not come up with $2,000 if an unexpected need arose, according to research by Atif Mian of Princeton University and Amir Sufi of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

#2 In that same study, Americans were asked the following question…

“Do you have 3 months emergency funds to cover expenses in case of sickness, job loss, economic downturn?”

An astounding 60 percent of people that responded said that they do not.

#3 Another study found that less than one out of every four Americans has enough money stored away to cover six months of expenses.

#4 Some people are actually trying really hard to get ahead, but admittedly that is really tough to do when we are all being taxed into oblivion.  In fact, it was reported this week that Americans now spend more on taxes than they spend on food, clothing and housing combined.

#5 Right now, more Americans are dependent on the government than ever before.  In fact, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, 49 percent of all Americans live in a home that currently gets direct monetary benefits from the federal government.

#6 It is estimated that less than 10 percent of the entire U.S. population owns any gold or silver for investment purposes.  That is a stunning number.

#7 It has been estimated that there are approximately 3 million“preppers” in the United States.  But that means that almost everyone else is not prepping.

#8-16 The following are nine more statistics that come from a survey conducted by the Adelphi Center for Health Innovation.  As you can see, a significant portion of the population is not even prepared for a basic emergency that would last for just a few days…

    • 44 percent don’t have first-aid kits
    • 48 percent lack emergency supplies
    • 53 percent do not have a minimum three-day supply of nonperishable food and water at home
    • 55 percent believe local authorities will come to their rescue if disaster strikes
    • 52 percent have not designated a family meeting place if they are separated during an emergency
    • 42 percent do not know the phone numbers of all of their immediate family members
    • 21 percent don’t know if their workplace has an emergency preparedness plan
    • 37 percent do not have a list of the drugs they are taking
    • 52 percent do not have copies of health insurance documents

What do you think is going to happen to these people once the economy collapses and there is chaos in the streets?

How are they going to survive?

After all of these years of writing about the coming economic collapse, nothing has changed as far as the long-term outlook is concerned.

We are still heading toward a complete and total economic meltdown.

But most Americans continue to have faith in the system, and the mainstream media keeps assuring them that everything is going to be just fine.

And in this “dumbed-down” society of ours, most people are perfectly content to let others do their thinking for them.  In America today, only one out of every six Americans can even find Ukraine on a map of the world.  That is how far we have fallen.

In this day and age, it is imperative that we all learn how to think for ourselves.  The foundations of our society are crumbling, our economic system is failing and the blind are leading the blind.  If we do not learn to make our own decisions, we are just going to follow the rest of the herd into oblivion.

In addition, we all need to start taking a long-term view of things.  Just because the economic collapse is not going to happen this month does not mean that it is not going to happen.  When you step back and take a broader view of what is happening, it becomes exceedingly clear where we are heading.

Sadly, most Americans will never do that.

Should anyone be surprised? Like Michael says 99% of the people don’t prepare for anything. One just has to look at all the dark homes after a blackout at night. These imbeciles don’t even have candles. I mean come on, how much do candles cost? Those little LED lanterns are not very expansive, and with a pack of D batteries can last 300 hours. People don’t even have any light, so can you assume there is anything in the cupboards.

The shear stupidity of not preparing even for a lack of electricity is something to behold. How much does it take? Then these cretins expect that the electronic phantom world of numbers is going to make sure that their “nest eggg” is safe. It is indeed a sure sign of the decay of common sense and the chances of humanity reaching 2020 still intact. Look for Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, even Pakistan for all this to start, one or more of these places.

I was watching some programs on how future generations are going to thrive and how these characters were talking about things just as “normal” as they have been for the past 60-70 years. Plenty of jobs, plenty of energy, plenty of everything. It was not even a propanganda driven BO type of garbage. These people are absolutely confident that nothing is going to happen to change anything for the worse for 200 years or more.

I started to think about just what Michael’s article is about. Should I or anyone else have any confidence that humanity is on the right course, or any confidence that humanity can last much longer on the present course of self destruction?

The planet ONLY has so much room for one thing. You can only grow so much food, there is only so much arable land. It is a well known fact that when ANY species reaches too many, disease breaks out, hard core disease. Look at Ebola recently, AIDS. all sorts of antibiotic resistant super bacteria. This is the way nature works. 8 billion? 10 billion? Where does Mother nature say stop?

The countries of the world are more armed now per capita than anytime in human history. This is partially due to the stockpiling of missiles by every country that is afraid of war. The military machines is down in Europe a lot, but in the Middle East, Russia, China, much of Asia it is up. Also the nuclear weapons are up, thnaks to China mostly. Not to forget North Korea that has mounds of uranium that it can make uranium nukes by the boatload. Israel, Pakistan, India to add this into the mix, and probably Iran with a few. All very unstable locations.

Derivatives. What are they up to 2 or 3 quadrillion now? That is 2000-3000 trillion. The total income of all countries put together doesn’t equal a fraction of this each year. Where does all this “funny” money go one day? What happens to the financial stability when this comes crashing down?

Energy. People can talk all they want about shale oil frozen in rock. This is extremely expensive to extract, and takes a lot of water, on top of the toxic disposal of it. The net energy gain is very minimum. While there is plenty of natural gas, oil based products still run the country. IF most cars ran on natural gas, then the energy issue would not be so catastrophic. IF the U.S actually had this secret oil reserves then why is the U.S. still importing 70% of their oil? The oil and natural gas journals and Department of Interior use this frozen oil in rock and sand as part of the oil reserves for the U.S. This is a misnomer. Liquid crude, dirty or sweet should be the ONLY number given as true oil reszerve. This oil shortage is a problem and why the U.S. is so interesting in the Caspian Sea region. A massive war to one day be fought right in Russia’s backyard.

Let’s not forget the toxic pollution that is killing the ecosystem from all the chemicals being dumped into the waterways. The kig of all of this is that spewing death spike known as Fukushima that has yet to be controlled at all. The idiot governments just keep raising the levels of “safe” radiation and other radiactive by-products that people can be exposed to and eat from the ocean.

One of the most tell-tale signs that humanity won’t reach much longer is the “stupidfication” of human beings. People use to have common horse sense. Just look at how grandma and grandpa use to have full pantries of food and other supplies. Look at how people use to eat. Now is it GMO processed frankenstein food full of chemical death. People are dumber now than when they were wearing loin clothes. People have fallen to the level of zombies, they just don’t get it. Simple rudimentry sense goes over their heads. 99% of the people don’t prepare. That 99% shows just where the world is going to, off the cliff to the happy elitists that want to thin the population to a few million people.

This is stark reality staring right in the faces of everyone that has the illusion that something catastrophic is not coming. Not just something that everyone recovers from in a few days or weeks. No a super series of MEGA SHTF events that takes decades, centuries, or longer to recover from, IF EVER. 99% of the people will wake up way too late to do anything about it. The 1% of those that did prepare are really the only chance for humans not go extinct like the dodo bird.

Looking at the low info voters and those who dont get involved in politics we know that more than half our population is clueless. Ambivalence like this was manufactured.
I aint wasting much time worrying about unprepared idiots. Im spending my time trying to prepare for more important problems. The unprepared idiots will mostly go down by there own undoing. They got so lazy and complacent that theyll sit around and cry for help rather than help themselves. Not my problem.

                  YES!!!!

Talk to the effing EPA or whatever. I researched that back on ’08. I WAS GOING TO CONVERT MY CAR. I could do it MYSELF for $800.

                  Seriously.

Almost ANY car can be converted… but then… IT’S NOT STREET LEGAL thanks SOLELY to the EPA. It’s not even a DOT crash safety thing!

So, any accident? You are financially toast.

I am telling you. It is cheap and easy to do it and you’d have overnight a huge number of small businesses popping up to do it.

                  And the EPA’s reason?

Because they have not tested emissions and THEY WON’T… they charge every kit manufacturer a humongous fee PER VEHICLE MODEL to prove it and get listed with them. Also known as protection money…

“”Where does all this “funny” money go one day? What happens to the financial stability when this comes crashing down? “”

It doesn’t exist, so it will go nowhere. It’s all on paper, and there will be a massive paper default. All of it is private paper, even the so-called “governments”.

There are a limited number of FRNs, so they will have value for a short time afterwards. Then, the banksters will direct their “government” to issue a new kind of dollar and swap you 10 old ones for one new one, thereby stealing the remaining wealth of those who do not have silver or gold or other commodities not reliant on the money scams for value.

The banksters maintain control over the money, so they care what it looks like.

Our job is to stop that BEFORE it happens. The how is a mass scale refusal to pay the bogus debts in FRNs and bust them before they bust the People.

Too many do not realize the scope of the fraud, and how simple it is to destroy simply by refusing to take part in it. And if you have been victimized by borrowing “credit”, kill the fraud by not repaying what can not Lawfully be lent in the first place.

Tell the banksters to F off, and they will be forced to.

On the news recently, they stated that about 80 deaths had occurred in West Africa, as a result of EBOLA. This is no ordinary disease! Stephen King, king of horror stories, said “The Hot Zone” (true story about Ebola) was the scariest book he ever read!…

Yesterday, they said the number had risen to 100 dead in west Africa from the disease AND one case in New York City, one case in Minnesota and one case in Canada. Its spreading! Now today they say its over 100 people dead, only one day later!

With all the scary stuff happening around the world, (what will we do if we have an pandemic of this stuff in the US??!), its rather ridiculous to be pointing fingers about minorities– whether gay or whatever. I dont particularly like gays either, but people, we better grow up or God will force us to… with horrors we have not seen in centuries!

ebola is not highly contagious thru casual contact.

not unless the person is spewing blood out of orifices, which is how the virus continues on it’s merry destructive way.

so unless the virus has mutated significantly, the risk of contracting during the 12-20 day incubation period is low, and the risk to caregivers during the final stages is highest. Blood contact.

Thanks KY mom, people need to pay attention to the bigger picture, I’m afraid many have blinders on and only get ‘news’ or information from one place. One really needs to look around and diversify their inputs for data.

Some other important indicators that many may not be aware of (also on ZeroHedge)

Russia And China About To Sign “Holy Grail” Gas Deal

Russia’s Gazprom and China are poised to conclude a gas supply contract in coming weeks, the first in a series of energy projects planned between the two countries. “We’re working now to sign a gas contract in May,” said Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich. “Consultations are continuing and Gazprom’s leaders are holding talks with Chinese partners on the contract terms. We hope to conclude the contract in May and believe it should come into effect by the year end.

40 Central Banks Are Betting This Will Be The Next Reserve Currency

As we have discussed numerous times, nothing lasts forever – especially reserve currencies – no matter how much one hopes that the status-quo remains so, in the end the exuberant privilege is extorted just one too many times. Headline after headlines shows nations declaring ‘interest’ or direct discussions in diversifying away from the US dollar… and as SCMP reports, Standard Chartered notes that at least 40 central banks have invested in the Yuan and several more are preparing to do so. The trend is occurring across both emerging markets and developed nation central banks diversifying into ‘other currencies’ and “a great number of central banks are in the process of adding Yuan to their portfolios.” Perhaps most ominously, for king dollar, is the former-IMF manager’s warning that “The Yuan may become a de facto reserve currency before it is fully convertible.”

                  Thanks KY Mom.

This is one of the primary indicators that I have long used to gauge the state of our economy. I must admit that I no longer look at any of these indicators as I am in the thought mode and have been for the last six months that a crash is imminent any day. It is a personal choice.

I have made the decision to no longer looks for the collapse of our economy only to prepare for it. It is, and has been for a long time, a house of cards just waiting for a slight breeze to topple it.

Furthermore I will simply state to my SHTF Plan family that I don’t care what anyone says or does from here on out to either think it will get better or that it will not be as bad as predicted. It is happening as the BDI shows and there is nothing, NOTHING, that can be done to reverse it.

For you new people to SHTF Plan you call me a kook and a doomsayer all you want. It don’t matter to me. For those who know me from this site over the years they know I am not crying wolf. I have every reason in the world to believe that the time for the big crash is upon us and that it is only a matter of a very short time before the end has made itself apparent to even the most ignorant.

I pray that each of you do whatever you can to get in a position to protect all that you hold dear in as fast a manner allowed by your circumstances. I know I don’t post as often as I used to but that is because I am trying very hard to make sure my stuff is in order. God Bless.

I’ve seen what the young people are doing- they are NOT stupid– they know whats happening and they are preparing… I’m not saying they all realize that business will not continue as usual, but most do realize this and are preparing accordingly. Just last night, I was thinking, “its the young people who will survive’ and they should. We’ve had our time in the sun. No, they are not stupid (although there are exceptions).

Wrong! Sodomy is against the law in many States. They are old laws but they are still laws.
Sodomy is a SIN. God said so. If a woman has sex with another woman or a man has sex with another man it is SODOMY. That makes it a Sin and breaking the law.
What is next having sex with Children, Dog, Chicken or a Goat. Let us keep sticking our fingers into God Eye with all of these sins and let us see just how bad it can get. OH YAH SODOM AND GAMORA DID THAT, AND WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM bbboooooommm THEY BE GONE!
Why do you think this country is such bad shape. WE HAVE TURNED OUR BACK ON GOD.
Yes I’m a Christian. I don’t hate the sinner. I hate the sin. By the way take a look at 1Timothy 1-9 & 10. If you don’t believe in the bible you want to drink a lot of water now because you aint going to get any where you are going.
This above passage also has in it murders, kidnappers just to name a few. What I’m saying is if one out of this passage is Ok they all are ok to do.

People who think that God would bless a war machine but curse a person for being born a certain way. People who constantly spew racist invective and decry everything that is not them.

Homosexuality is as normal and natural as the Earth orbiting the Sun. Then again, Copernicus was hounded by the Church for asserting such a thing hundreds of years ago.

There are a lot of people who love quoting the Old Testament on here, preaching fire and brimstone, yet they seemingly totally forget the teachings of Christ. Christ taught love and compassion, which stands in direct opposition to your ignorance and hatred.

              • The following response is an open letter to Dr. Laura regarding homosexuality, which was posted on the Internet…

                Dear Dr. Laura:
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination …. End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God’s Laws and how to follow them.

                1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?

                2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

                3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of Menstrual uncleanliness -Lev15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

                4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord -Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

                5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?

                6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this? Are there ‘degrees’ of abomination?

                7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?

                8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

                9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

                10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I’m confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.

                Your adoring fan,

SGT– the Bible says to judge not that you be not judged. Sin is anything that takes you away from God. The moment you point your finger at someone who has to struggle over something which you know nothing about, not being gay yourself, you bring your own consciousness down–

I don’t like the thought of a gay life style either. But I have enough sense to realize I need to concentrate on my own short comings and not condemn others for theirs.

It is my belief that if you don’t believe in the Bible, and Gods word. There is a very good chance you are going somewhere very hot. Or what ever Hell is. I didn’t say that, the Bible dose.
I had a wife that gave me some great kids, when she turned around 35 she started hanging around with a bunch of gay girls. She decided to experiment. 4 years later she left me for her girlfriend. Straight for 35 years then gay in less than 4 years. Her choice. Lost all the kids, her loss again, but she wouldn’t give up her girlfriend.
The Bible said homosexuality is a sin and a Sinner will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. The other place is Hell. I didn’t say it the Bible dose. I’m not Judging I’m pointing out what I believe, the Bible.

I don’t argue that Sgt, but not everybody sees it as a Biblical and moral issue. They mostly believe it to be quite normal for them, and I defend their right to choose for themselves, just as I expect to have the right to choose for myself.

Self-determination has to be the same for everyone, whether we agree with what they do with it or not…all or nothing.

The cold hard fact of the matter is, that not all gays are criminals or “bad” people. There are hard-working gays that are just as liberty-minded as the rest of us, the only difference being their choice of bed-partners…which is none of my damn business.

When the battle line is finally drawn, I won’t care who the guy next to me sleeps with. I will care only:

Is he willing to die for his freedom, like me?
What can he contribute to the group afterwards?
                  Is he trustworthy and dependable?
Will he/she have my six, if need be?

I’ve seen people say that they ONLY care about “like-minded” people. That’s very sad, because the idea of true FREEDOM, is not how we treat those who think like us, but how we treat those who think differently. Respect and Honor.

Diversity does not necessarily equal Adversity.

During the snow/ice storm that basically shut down Atlanta for a couple of days this past winter, on of the Evening News crews did a story on how this storm was affecting local people.

They interviewed a woman who had a job but was stuck at home with her two kids, dressed very nicely, and was complaining that they had no power for heat. She also complained that they had no food because that roads were closed. She was feeding her kids potato chips as their “meal.” WTF!!!

Then I got it. Her “man” shows up in the background wearing a track suit and looking like he just got of the bus of the “Boyz in the Hood” traveling circus. If this dumbass is stupid enough to hook up with a guy like that, she is stupid enough to watch her kids starve half to death and then complain about it. Stupid cow.

Stop buying every meal at a fast food joint and learn how to cook. Your kids might have a chance to grow a brain if they get some good food in them.

Buy some basic food to have around the house. You don’t need power to make a nice salad, and a back yard grill will cook with no power.

Face it, most of those people will die or will experience significant physical and emotional trauma. For many, it this is a conscious choice, like the decision to have or not have life insurance.

They understand the risks and have agreed to take them. Of course, nobody will get on TV and say; “I knew I should have done something to prepare for this but I was stupid and selfish. I wanted to spend my money on entertainment and luxury goods. Those people will never change so why are we continually focused on it when we can’t do anything about it?

I have been having a hard time trying to get others on board with all the “crying wolf” that has been happening. Some of them are locked into the message that nothing can or will happen because, Hey we are America. However, I was one of those people that opened my eyes. Six years ago I found a blog that made sense to me. Even then they were predicting a few month things would collapse. Then a few months again. So, here it is six years later and still the same “coming soon” message. But you know, they may have the timing off by a few days, months, years, but it got this sheeple off his ass and opened his eyes to what is really going on. I will not be one of those rushing the stores trying to get my supplies when it DOES happen. I will not be one of those crying for government help when it DOES happen. I will not be one of those that cannot protect his/her family when it DOES happen. My family and I may not make it through, but it won’t be because we haven’t prepared ourselves. And honestly, we have a better life for it. We went from always buying our food from the store, to a garden that even my grandmother would be jealous of. We have learned how to preserve our foods. and have even gotten healthier because of it. When the power goes out, the solar panels keep the freezer running, along with the security cameras. I for one am glad the timing has been off. Had the collapse been right after I read the first wake up message six years ago, I would have been toast. Now, at least I have a fighting chance.

That’s quite astute and I feel the same with regards to the eventual destination although the time frame is in question.

Think of our civilization as an aging dam. We have been filling holes in it with silly putty, each time we fill a hole a new one opens up (ie, bailing out wall street but not fixing the underlying issues within our economy).

Eventually we won’t be able to keep up with all of the new cracks and the dam will break, and all of that held back energy will rush forth in fury until it finally settles.

I’m not entirely sure what the world will look like when it does settle, but I know in the meantime I don’t want to be living downriver from the dam.

To prepare is to acknowledge you recognize the danger. Whether it means buying some extra food in case you lose your job, preparing for the meltdown of a nearby nuclear plant and planning an evacuation, or simply being ready for severe weather.

The grower builds the houses. The chicken processor furnishes the chickens feed electricity & LP. I know one guy owned 20 acres free & clear. paid 10 thousand dollars for it. Took out a contract and built two grower houses. They loaned him $20,000 extra for start up money. So he was already ten grand ahead to start. He heated his home and ran his tractor & pickup on the chicken companys LP. He stole chicken feed and fed to hogs. the hogs where pure profit. For ten years he never really paid down his debt. And suddenly a Mennonite comes along and pays $50,000 more than he owes. Believe it or not its a true story. The guys name is Darrell Mitchell and his chicken farm is & was located on HWY 231 in Randolph County Arkansas. He apparently was a successful schemer? The company building the processing plant is named PETCO. They are spending close to twenty million building feed mills, hatcherys & a processing plant. They aren’t going to just close up and leave the growers hanging. If they fail its all over anyhow so where is the kicker? Now myself I left that area. I don’t want to smell stinky chicken growing houses or drink water polluted fron the chicken litter. And Im a racist and don’t want to live around thousands of those little brown folks who come from south of the border.

Here is what happened on January 1st 2014:

Top Income Tax bracket went from 35% to 39.6%
Top Income Payroll Tax went from 37.4% to 52.2%
Capital Gains Tax went from 15 % to 28%
Dividend Tax went from 15% to 39.6%
Estate Tax went from 0% to 55%
Remember this ‘fact;’ if you have any money, the Democrats want it!
All these taxes were passed with only Democrat votes. Not one Republican voted to do these taxes. Remember this come election time. And make sure your friends and neighbors know this info too! These taxes were all passed under the affordable care act, otherwise known as Obama care.

        HR 2847 – FATCA

Delayed, FATCA will go into effect July 1, 2014
This will make it nearly impossible for Americans to protect savings accounts.

Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA)
        http://lawoutlaw.blog.com/2012/02/20/fatca/

“FATCA is four years old but it is still being ramped up for its big worldwide rollout July 1, 2014. Foreign banks must hand over the details of American account holders … or face serious repercussions.”

“With disclosures, prosecutions and summonses, the IRS is getting quicker, better and more complete information than ever.”

“After foreign institutions identify U.S. account holders, FATCA requires the institutions to impose a 30% tax on payments or transfers to any who refuse to step up and get into full U.S. compliance.

At first, Foreign financial institutions (FFIs) must report account numbers, balances, names, addresses, and U.S. taxpayer identification numbers. For U.S.-owned foreign entities, they must report the name, address, and U.S. TIN of each substantial U.S. owner.”

        http://www.forbes.com/sites/robertwood/2014/04/07/incredibly-48-nations-embrace-fatca-to-reveal-u-s-depositors/

“FATCA is one of the worst laws ever written. In addition to requiring yet more disclosures for US taxpayers who have foreign accounts, FATCA also mandates every foreign financial institution on the planet to share customer information with the IRS.”

“But what most people don’t know is that FATCA contains an obscure, broadly-written provision that potentially turns every single US taxpayer into a government spy.

You see, the law decrees that if a foreign bank or business does NOT comply with FATCA requirements, then everyone else in the financial system MUST WITHHOLD a 30% PENALTY on ANY PAYMENT TO THAT BANK OR BUSINESS.”

“The police aren’t arming themselves; they’re being armed– a give-away. This came with the Patriot Act– totally, patently Un-Constitutional…As I read the Patriot Act, I thought, “Oh, Holy Jesus! this is the Federal govt. taking over every police department in the country– and all that money! Tons of money started flowing in to local police agencys, but the deal was, every police department had to use a uniform computer system that the CIA and FBI could get into.

It used to be if I ran a Sheriff department, the FBI couldn’t get into my computer. But now, with this software technology, the U.S. Gov’t. can not only get into law enforcement agencies’ computers, they can shut them down! Radio frequencies were synchronized, standardization of weapons… was done with the intent to turn American Police Departments into a defacto army… same equipment, same radio frequencies, for the purpose of command and control. So, that’s pretty much been accomplished.

So that, as we reach the point where we are now, where everything is falling apart, no county sheriff anywhere is going to turn down armored vehicles, but there are strings that come with all that. So we see DHS buying 1.3 billion rounds of hollow point ammunition– handgun ammunition– that’s to shoot Americans! Its a fact the U.S. government has declared the American people to be the enemy. NDAA– Americans can get jailed, anywhere in the world, without trial, and held indefinitely.”– video with Mike Ruppert, former LA police officer.

It all reminds me of my ordeal with DMV, when I went to renew my drivers license– all the hassel, new requirements, confusion, them insisting I get a NATIONAL ID CARD.

DMV stole my license when I went to renew it, even though I have a near-perfect driving record, and told me I had to change my name in order to get it back (so all my names on official records matched)… its a long story, but basically, I raised hell (plus, I was warned in this film I watched to refuse to go along with a National ID card– Nazism).

So, I raised hell for 2 years (and continued driving with no license!) When I confronted the cop at DMV, telling him that what he was doing was UnConstitutional and that other states refused to go along with the Fed’s request, he told me that the new computer system would not even allow them to issue me a license until my name on all documents matched. He said that other states were going along with the Fed’s request, “after being offered enough money to implement the program”. And he said that the Social Security Agency was being merged with DMV (centralization of power).

This– every damn, stinking bit of it, goes along with everything Ruppert said in his video and with what Hitler said, when he advised would-be-dictators to take little steps at a time, to turn open societies/ democracys into closed societies/police states.

DMV’s around the country sold out the American people for enough money…

Don’t kid yourself. There is not anyone left in the government looking out for the country. They know for a fact there is nothing that can be done to change what is coming. The majority of the shitbags are just positioning themselves for the collapse. The media is not informing you because they have been promised a place at the table or bunker for the culling and world after. For these shitbags we need to be saying “if the media lie’s the media die’s”. Their place is to be a check on government, if they won’t perform their only function why not remove them by all possible means? Why do you think they have built all the underground facilities and armed police forces across the nation will armored vehicles and ammo up the ying yang. No one will be stationed outside my house or any other average sheeple’s house protecting us. There is a plan, we just are not privy to it. Join the resistance now.

FYI per the article yesterday about rancher Bundy in southern NV, apparently homeland security is surrounding the poor bastard. I hear locals are arming up and helping and the Sherriff said he doesn’t want to get involved. Anyone heard this in the LSM, I think not? Not telling someone that bad things are happening is the same as lying as far as I’m concerned. Any of you gonna want help when they come for you? I know I would like some and will probably need it with my attitude. Might be a good idea to start thinking about your line. Looks like the civilian security force Oshitbag talked about needing is up to speed, and its called Homeland Security.

(I’m not kidding, pick a site and go back through their archives.)

Quite frankly, I’ve moved on from caring. Obviously my head is not in the sand as I’ve taken steps to secure my future but I’ve found life is so much easier when you don’t focus on it. There’s a difference in having insurance and constantly living your life in fear of an accident.

The biggest problem with regards to the events unfolding vs the great depression is people dont have that basic sense of self reliance and the do what it takes attitude,,
Now people are satisfied to sit at home watching their big screen tv and lamenting that their unemployment checks are going to run out in a few weeks or they are riding around in their SUV grumbling how the welfare card wont buy them fuel and cigarettes,,,
in the depression people made do and improvised or rambled along and found whatever it took to make it work, this is one reason why you really gotta hand it to the Mexicans,, they will fare much better than the vast majority of Americans who are satisfied to sit on their rear ends and wait for uncle sam to fix their plight for them,,
        its going to be interesting,
so many in denial, so many so utterly unprepared for anything. I see it every time there is any sort of extreme weather or tsunami warning,, or during hurricaine season and a storm is brewing, last minute or not at all emergency buying, too late is just that, TOO LATE!

You get about 30 lbs of meat. And its not a big job like butchering a 230 pound domestic hog. Potbellies eat very little and are disease resistant. I put rings in ours noses to keep them from rooting. potbellys can become mean However they are not a dangerious as a large pig. large hogs can & do kill other livestock and even humans. There is nothing, in terms of economics, that is unusual about food disappearing from the store shelves. If farmers can make more money from selling it to China, then they will do that. The US dollar does not buy what it used to in the world.

I remember working overseas and earning US dollars 15 years ago and I lived like a 1 per center: top of the pile. There were just a few hundred people in the country that were at my level of wealth. But since then, the dollar has gone down the crapper and that money would put me at the same level as a middle class person in China. The government lies but the wealth has just been destroyed in 10 years.

President Obama’s new budget proposal requests a staggering $1.1 billion to “protect” Americans from gun violence. This includes $182 million to support the president’s ‘Now is the Time’ gun safety initiative.”

The technology behind the recent innovations which can control a person’s access to guns is stunning as is can allow a gun owner to only unlock a safe with a fingerprint scan and an RFID-equipped bracelet, like the one presently being touted by Attorney General Eric Holder.

Yes, the situation is as bleak, as described. So what if your very worst case situation/SHTF does happen. For all the “believers” out there, continue to prepare as you can. However, remember this the evil guys WILL win – in the short run. God will win in the long run. Take the time and read the Old Testament book of Habakkuk. Relax, it is very short, only 3 chapters. Bottom line: God tells Habakkuk to chill out. He does know and is fully aware of the situation and in total control. The bad guys will be punished for their deeds, in due time.

The most important prep any can make is to get themselves right with their God, as they see their duty.
I believe, Jesus is the Messiah and He is coming again and I could live to see it happen. I am sure that all the end time details will sort themselves out. So what ever happens to me, is truely in God’s hands. Repent, it is later than you think.

      Serious question for you guys.

I cannot afford prime agricultural land, however a couple of acres of scrub/woodland IS within my reach within a 3 mile radius of our new home.

Is this a sensible thing to do?

Here in the UK property prices are just insane, especially as the banksters buy up residential units, and prime grazing/growing land. (Anyone who thinks the 1%ers or even the top 20%ers aren’t prepping at this late stage is living in cloud cuckoo land imho)

Woodland gives us somewhere to hide in an emergency, and the sprog is a skilled wee forager, & my mother has superb (what modern life now calls) permaculture skills, but she just calls “how we got round rationing when I were a girl” (She grew up during WW2 rationing here in Britain!). Permaculture is not a conventional way of producing food, but in troubled times it’s a reliable way of keeping an extended family fed.

Woodland also gives us fuel, and somewhere to hide caches of various items considered contraband here in the over regulated class ridden small Island of the UK. Owning woodland also makes you a “land owner” which means it’s then easy to get a firearms licence (restrictions on guns are crazy here!) for the purposes of vermin control.

I’m also thinking if I can’t grow crops in the conventional way on it, I can keep a few roosters of pure breed stock (Utility strains of breeds like the Rhode Island Red or Ixworth may have real commercial value in the event of a financial crash).

I’m honestly not sure what to do with my rainy day savings for the best. I can’t ask people in real life life what they think for OPSEC reasons. I’m not in the bracket that can afford to lose what little i have scraped together over the year, yet land is not portable.

If and when shtf, you don’t need to buy woodland ground to hide. Just go there and hide, if that day comes. And be ready to defend it if trouble comes. Whether you own ground or are an intruder you will have to defend it either way. So why pay the bills and potentially lose it?

My guess is it is better to keep prepping. When those bad days arrive you will have a better idea of what you need to do–either stay put or move fast….

lonelonemum – never having been to the UK I am only guessing, but with the population there being around 60 million (?) yet being only the size of the smallest state in Aussie or a middling one in the US your density is pretty high and there isn’t much you can call remote?

I would think the UK would suffer the worst in a SHTF event for a few reasons – all of your energy and most of your food is imported. You are probably more urbanised than any other country now because of that too? The “Golden Horde” would overrun all of the UK in a rapid breakdown – it would all turn to muck very quickly.

I have said this before – what’s the point of having a functioning garden or small farm if you cant defend it? If TSHTF the hordes will descend on the country like a swarm of locusts and you cant shoot them all, sooner or later one will get you. You need to adopt a siege mentality, hunker down and live off stored preps until there is either a massive die off or order is restored. Then you can come out of the bunker and progress to self sufficiency.

I know a fair bit about the UK gun laws. Join a club and get a shotgun and a 22 bolt action with a suppressor. Suppressors are quite legal, and believe it or not are actually encouraged, over there. For protection at “front door” distances nothing beats a 12 gauge. For harvesting small game like rabbits, pigeons and picking ducks off dams nothing beats a snuffed .22!!

I do appreciate the sentiments of those who would stand and fight to the end, but at the same time I know in my heart I’d also prefer to see my child to safety if push came to shove.
If I buy the land I can hardly pick it up and run with it can I? Your comments about defence struck home. I’ll put my meagre savings into pm’s for now methinks.

Something a lot of people don’t realise about our class system and firearms. We still have a class known as “The landed Gentry” who are regular and active particpants in a variety of seasonal sports involving firearms. These activities include the annual grouse and partridge shoots and clay pigeon shooting at other times of year.

Below them is a “game keeper & farmer class” who regularly use guns for vermin control (foxes, badgers, rats etc). Together with the landed gentry they form an organised socially cohesive group if shtf. Together these two groups WILL keep the Golden Horde escaping from the cities from behaving like locusts in rural areas.

Then right at the bottom of the social structure is an armed underclass.Anyone who saw “Lock Stock and Two Smoking barrels” will understand that this is the criminal underclass, that is found in every nation. We may not like criminal gangs but they are organised, nasty and ruthless. They will control supplies in our cities, whether we want them to or not.

It’s actually only the ordinary everyday honest worker who isn’t either armed or able to obtain a firearm in an instant if SHTF here in the UK.

Sentenced to hang, lucky for me it was commuted to a one way trip to the colony of New South Wales! Mary XXX was a servant girl who stole some doilies from her mistress (there is some conjecture that it was a false claim to get rid of her) and she got 7 years. Could you put your money into gold, wait for the collapse and the rise in gold prices, then trade in your gold for the new currency and buy the property? I know it would be harder to prep for a garden, chickens, etc. You’d also need money to cover your property taxes over the next few years or the government will seize it.

Also something to consider, Ferfal, who lived through the collapse in Argentina in 2001, recommends not living in the country because there’s no way you can defend your property 24 hours a day and you won’t have neighbors close by to help if there’s a break-in. You could consider giving free room and board to a couple of security guards or relatives who could keep watch on the property at night along with a guard dog. But, there’s something to be said for having neighbors where you live now. They have an incentive to protect their own property and might band together for security reasons. If so I think I’d put my money in gold and silver.

And its nots gods punishment for mans sin. and its not mother earth getting even. The Pole shift would still be happening even if man had never walked on the planet.

      • Actually, old guy (and I’m not speaking for anonymous), the climate HAS been changing in the last couple of decades. Now, I don’t know if it is natural cycles or influenced by man, but it is happening. You can deny it all you want but that won’t stop the droughts, wildfires and floods that are happening now.

IMO I think we will experience more devastating effects from droughts and food supply disruptions than from some magnetic pole shift that drifts around all the time year to year with negligible results. When was the last “cataclysmic” pole shift that you talk about? I haven’t heard about it…but I admit, I haven’t really looked into it. Help me out with some links or info please.

The pole usually shifts by a few inches or feet per year. lately it has shifted by several miles every year. this shift twist the magnosphere. When the north Magnetic poles moves 40 miles closer to Siberia in one year and the south magnetic pol shifts very little the twist in the magnosphere causes the jet stream to become erratic. this twist also causes stress on the earth,s techtonic plates that result in earthquakes & volcano eruptions. the weird weather changes and storms ect. we have been witnessing for the last few decades are a result of the magnetic pole shift. there never was a normal or optimal climate. and no one has the right or authority to decide what the normal or optimal should be. Like snowflakes no two years day,s weather is the same. Change is the only constant. The Extinction protocol has good info.

I read a book years ago that said the same thing about a magnetic pole shift. It was called “Not By Fire, But By Ice”. The author’s theory is that once the poles switch the earth will cool down not heat up. Maybe even go into another ice age.

Ill be the first to tell you im not rightly sure just what earth changes will happen because of the magnetic pole shifting. Edgar Case and Nostradamus made predictions. some say it occurs about every 3600 years. some clain the last time was during the exidious? some say the poles swap polarity doing a complete reversal. Im confident in saying its happening right now and all this unusual weird weather and clatyclismic events will continue to increase in both magnitude & frequency until it reaches its zenith. Then it will gradually abate. How long is anybodys guess most likely a few decades before thing,s settle down.

A ceremony inaugurating the entry into service of the Israel Air Force’s new “Samson” air transport plane, Lockheed-Martin’s new generation C-130J Super Hercules, was attended Wednesday by Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, Air Force chief Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel and US Ambassador Dan Shapiro. Another five Super Hercules are due for delivery by the end of the year. With a range of 4,000 km, Samson can reach any point in Iranian air space. It can carry four SUVs and 129 combat personnel or 92 paratroops with full combat gear, as well as 97 gurneys for evacuating casualties. The new plane is equipped with systems designed by Israel that streamline aircraft maintenance work. More Israeli-designed computers will be added. The Samson will also ease the function mid-air refueling.

fuck the tax statements…prepping can be retirement, if you have a house paid off and a garden and some live stock then what is stopping you? Not trying to sound harsh but I did it with no special circumstances. just my opinion.

Shawn if your comment was for me Ill tell you the house is paid off, been paid off. No debt in our house. Wife not working to support the govt. corruption and the EBT takers.
I guess we did it w/out special circumstances too unless you count being independent special.

We garden and grow out some of our meat w/ rabbits and hogs. Going to get a few goats soon, the wife likes them and the milk and cheese is good. We were doing these things before Obama and Bush raked us all. Now its worse and ramped up to fast mode w/ debt and lies and bailouts and printed money from the fed. The retirement we planned aint gonna pan out for us or most in working class. Being in my 50s, aint exactly retirement age but today were talking and planning to bail out in 2 months.

I also raise rabbits ,pigs & garden. The rabbit manure is very good for the garden. We also have goats. Goat burger when ground if mixed with a small amount of pork is very good. However goats do require very good fencing.

New earthquake on Pacific Antarctica Ridge is a very interesting one. This same area in the past has either had no major earthquakes after it has been hit, or a whole swarm of major earthquakes. More activity on these precursor outer plate boundaries will show which one as they appear. That 8.2 and 7.6 aftershock reset a lot, like a recoil reflex of the planet. The precursors are still pointing to Alaska and the Northern Australian plate, especially between Eastern Indonesia and New Guinea to Fiji. The Arabian African plate border regions is also showing previous high activity after these spots have been hit, that include Greece, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, and western Pakistan.

You know one of the reasons I started coming to this site was because there was a lot of good information.

The other day I read a story online about a mob beating in Detroit (where I’m from originally) by the Communist News Network. (Yeah I know, but sometimes it is interesting to see what the other side has to say).

Anyways I started reading the comments section and it turned into a bunch of name calling and insult throwing trash. One out maybe thirty posts actually had something worthwhile to contribute.

Some days that’s what happens here. In fact its starting to happen more often than not. I find the best thing is just to ignore the idiots. All they are trying to do is get attention probably ’cause their mothers never loved them.

So please people, can we just stay on topic, share what we know and learn so that we can all become better prepared.

FYI, if anybody cares, Home Depot has some really nice heavy duty storage totes. They’re HDX, 27 gallons and only $10 with lids that can be zipped tied down. I bought ten to start storing and organizing my preps. You would be amazed how much they hold.

Peace everyone. God Loves us all even the ones we don’t love.

As a long time lurker and very infrequent commenter, I have to say I’m guilty of most of the above. I tried to get prepared but a son in college [who graduated with 2 degrees ] and 5 major surgeries on my part [ basically crippled now]. I’m not near as prepared as I need to be.I’M BROKE. But I believe in The LORD CHRIST and I’ll kep trudging on. I have watched this scenario since the late 70′s early 80′s , 2 books – NONE DARE CALL IT CONSPIRACY and DARE CALL CALL IT CONSPIRACY forgot the writer gave me hints to what was going on. I have to admit I’m a dumbass I should be much better prepared. BUT I can stil knock the fuzz off a nat’z ASS @ 100 yards. Good Luck To All And God Bless BUDDY [bug doody]

        bugdoody,

You’ve still got some time to prep. I used to listen to Bob Chapman before he passed away and he said to concentrate on three things: get a good water filter, 3 months worth of food, and have a means of protecting your family (firearm). Do that and you’ll be ahead of 99% of the U.S.

Also, see if your son would be willing to help you prep. If he doesn’t agree, too bad! He owes you! Move in with him or have him move in with you and combine forces. Use the money he would have used on rent to stock up on food. Hope you get to feeling better. I know that losing your health is tough.

Today a whole new round at the craps table started. The Federal Reserve has given banks two more years to get rid of their risky loans. It is just a matter of time before the wrong number is rolled. The stock market loved it, but it is simply more smoke and mirrors…..

With all due respect, can you understand what, “You will know them by their fruits” implies? It implies some sort of judgement on your part. You must examine the fruit (good or bad works) of a persons life. If it is good fruit and they claim to serve Christ, well, you know they are a brother or sister. If they fruit is bad then, regardless of their ‘claim’, they are not a brother or sister in Christ.

There seems to be no end to folks who cannot understand what the verse you are quoting actually means. Sadly, those inside the church are just as ignorant as those outside.

We judge everyday and for good reason. Are we not judging the powers that be; president, congress, senators, etc…. We MUST judge to survive.

Looking at sin in peoples life and calling it ‘sin’ and saying they need to repent is not wrong. It is right, and required. It is when we judge them to hell, as only God can do, that we are sinning. Only God can judge them in that way.

I have two gay family members and it has been really hard to convey my love for them and my fear for them in a way they can understand.

Anyhow, this is totally off the topic of the article but it needed to be said.
